Dear Stan,
Last week, the Sun News Network went off the air -- and along with it, my TV show. I lost my job.I'll be fine. But what about all the ideas we fought for? Like freedom of religion? Over the years, Sun News fought fights that no other media would fight. We stood up for Trinity Western University, against the anti-Christian bigots of Canada's law societies. We did shows like this.We didn't just talk about it. We actually raised money for a great civil liberties lawyer to go to court to fight for TWU.Or when Nanaimo's rogue city council passed a bizarre, illegal resolution banning a Christian conference from using the city's convention center. We went to battle, and didn't stop until that resolution was overturned. Later last year, Nanaimo voters took care of the rest, throwing out the mayor behind the scandal. You can see that show here.That's what we fought for when the Sun shone. But what can we do now, that we're off the air? How will we get the word out about important stories? How will we fight for freedom? Well, I have an idea. With a handful of former staff from Sun News, I've started a new TV station -- called www.TheRebel.media. As you can see, it's direct to the Internet. But for so many of our viewers, that's how they watched Sun News anyways!
It's not on TV, that's true. But in some ways it's better. We have none of the limits of a regularly scheduled TV show. We can produce content anytime, from anywhere, of any length in any form. And you can watch it anywhere too -- your computer, even your cell phone.We've only been doing it for a few days -- we literally taped the first show from my living room on Monday! But we're already doing important journalism, picking up the fight where Sun News left off.Like this show we did about Rev. David Lynn, the Christian pastor who is being prosecuted for preaching the gospel in Toronto's Yonge & Dundas Square. He's been charged with not having a "busking" permit -- he's being bullied. There are Muslim evangelists just twenty feet away from Rev. Lynn who aren't prosecuted. But Rev. Lynn was.Look at the quality of the production of that interview. I put it to you that it is similar to what we were doing on TV. And that's just after a few days. Imagine what we can do in the weeks and months ahead.
