The Founders and Framers did not set up a monarchy in the new nation that they created. Rather, they created a republic. A republic is a state in which all the people, except those disqualified by law, have a say and opportunity to participate in the administration of the nation and its government and elect representatives to operate their government. Republican government is a government by the people. It is operated by representatives chosen by the people. So through their representatives, the people administer their government. Black’s Law Dictionary 1171 (5th ed. 1979). It therefore becomes critical in a republic with a self-representative form of government that, for the sake of their well-being and self-protection, the people know for whom they are voting and that, in the case of the President, that that person is eligible under Article II of the Constitution to assume the powers of that office should he or she win the election. After all, citizens, who under our form of government are to consent to their government’s existence, should know in advance that their vote will count and not be cast for a person who will not qualify for the Office of President or worst yet, that their vote will be cast for someone who should take by usurpation the great and singular powers of that office while not being eligible to do so. Hence, running for the Office of President under the 1st Amendment, which guarantees political free speech, is one thing. But winning the election and taking the power of that office under Article II, which does not involve political free speech, is another.

In the Kerchner v. Obama/Congress case, the plaintiffs sued Barack Obama as President Elect before Congress confirmed him as Article II eligible under the 20th Amendment and as President after being sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts. Hence, at those stages of the political process, Obama had exhausted his free speech rights to run for the Office of President. Plaintiffs sued Obama because he never conclusively proved that he was born in Hawaii and because he is not and cannot be an Article II natural born Citizen, given that his father was not a U.S. citizen when Obama was born wherever that may be.Despite the Kerchner and the many other law suits that plaintiffs filed against Obama and others, the courts have allowed Obama to game our honor system.If no one else is going to protect its citizens, then the States have every right and duty to do so. States have a right and duty to protect the life, liberty, and property of their citizens. If Congress and the courts, because of political inconvenience, refuse to protect a State’s citizens, then the States must do so by utilizing the 9th and 10th Amendments, their police powers, and their power to run fair elections. That includes making sure through an election process that comports with the Constitution and their own state election laws that the person who will be taking the great civil and military power of the Office of President and Commander in Chief of the Military is eligible to hold that office because he or she meets the natural born Citizen,35-years-age, and 14-years-residency requirements of Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of our Constitution.

The Founders and Framers knew that under English common law (e.g. Calvin’s Case, 7 Coke, 1, 6 James I) and statutes and the municipal laws adopted by many nations, natural allegiance and political and military obligations attach to a child from either being born on its territory or being born to at least one of its citizens. The Founders and Framers knew that the first citizens, who they called Citizens of the United States, were born with natural allegiance to Great Britain or to some other foreign sovereignty. The British natural born subjects threw off their allegiance to Great Britain through the Declaration of Independence and by adhering to the American Revolution. Others naturalized to become citizens of the United States. Being born subjects of foreign powers, the Framers in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 grandfathered these Citizens of the United States to be eligible to be President. But for those to be born after the adoption of the Constitution who would aspire to become President, the Framers demanded that they be born with no foreign allegiance. They called these persons natural born Citizens.To have a person (a future President) born with natural allegiance and political and military obligations solely to the United States, they relied upon natural law and the law of nations definition of a natural born Citizen, as codified by Emer de Vattel in Section 212 of The Law of Nations (London 1797) (1st ed. Neuchatel 1758), which is a child born in the country to citizen parents. So, the Framers reserved the special citizenship status of natural born Citizen for the Office of President for those born after the adoption of the Constitution. They relied on natural law to provide the clause’s definition. Founder David Ramsay in his 1789 essay, A Dissertation on the Manners of Acquiring the Character and Privileges of a Citizen (1789), provides us with insight into the thinking of the Founders and Framers and confirms that they reserved future birthright citizenship to only those born to citizen parents. A great majority of Americans satisfy this definition and are therefore natural born Citizens. As to the definitions of all other future Citizens of the United States, the Framers relied on Congress to provide those through its Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 naturalization powers. And Congress has used that power throughout our history, passing various naturalization acts and even the Civil Rights Act of 1866 which in 1868 was constitutionalized when the 14th Amendment was passed. Anyone who is a citizen of the United States under these positive laws but who was not born in the U.S. (or its equivalent) to U.S. citizen parents (father and mother) is a citizen of the United States, but not a natural born Citizen as intended by the Founders and Framers.This all means that the States can implement an election process by which they seek to make sure that any person who desires to possess the power of the President and Commander in Chief of the Military meets the natural law/ law of nations/American common law definition of a natural born Citizen which as we have seen is a child born in the U.S. (or its equivalent) to U.S. citizen parents (father and mother).That the candidate produces his or her long-form, hospital generated birth certificate, if available, satisfies the requirement of birth in the U.S. That the candidate provides the identity and citizenship status of the candidate’s parents, if known, satisfies the citizen parent requirement.

The natural born Citizen requirement might seem a bit onerous, but the requirement only applies to the singular and all-powerful office of the President and Commander in Chief of the Military and the office of Vice-President, the elections to which come up only every 4 years. More important, the Framers specifically included it in the Constitution for the best interests of the nation. Hence, despite how much political detractors pooh-pooh the “natural born Citizen” clause, scream that Obama’s citizenship is a non-issue, or even expressly state or imply that those who question Obama’s citizenship are at best delusional or at worst racially motivated, it is well worth making sure that a Presidential candidate meets that definition given the critical important role the President and Commander in Chief of the Military plays in the survival and preservation of our nation, its people, and their Constitution.

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be encreased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Section 2.

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information on the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Meteorite Clue Opens Window into Solar System Evolution

The dust grains that eventually coalesced into our solar system's planets bounced around like pinballs over vast distances nearly 4.6 billion years ago, a new meteorite study suggests.Scientists studying a tiny chunk of a meteorite say it likely formed close to the sun, was ejected near today's asteroid belt, and then returned to the scorching inner reaches thereafter. The results should help astronomers better understand the early days of our solar system, and could shed light on planet-formation processes in general, researchers said.This has implications for how our solar system and possibly other solar systems formed and how they evolved, the study’s lead author, Justin Simon, of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, said in a statement. There are a number of astrophysical models that attempt to explain the dynamics of planet formation in a protoplanetary disk, but they all have to explain the signature we find in this meteorite.

Studying a cosmic pea

Simon and his colleagues investigated a pea-size piece of the Allende meteorite, a hunk of space rock that crash-landed in Mexico in 1969. The bit they looked at is what's known as a calcium-aluminum-rich inclusion, or CAI. CAI's often get fused into larger meteorite pieces such as Allende. [Spectacular Leonid Meteor Shower Photos] Scientists believe CAI's were among the first solids to condense from the swirl of gas and dust as the planets were forming, so studying them can yield clues about our solar system's early days, researchers said.The team studied the composition of a 4.57 billion-year-old inclusion in detail with a tiny probe, measuring the concentrations of two different oxygen isotopes in the space rock's various layers. Isotopes are versions of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons in their atomic nuclei.The concentrations of these two isotopes — oxygen-16 and oxygen-17 — varied from place to place while the solar system was forming. So by analyzing their relative abundances in the different parts of the CAI, the team was able to learn a great deal about its travels — which turned out to be extensive.If you were this grain, you formed near the protosun, then likely moved outward to a planet-forming environment, and then back toward the inner solar system or perhaps out of the plane of the disk, Simon said. Of course, you ended up as part of a meteorite, presumably in the asteroid belt, before you broke up and hit the Earth.The team reports its results in tomorrow’s (March 4) issue of the journal Science.

Understanding our solar system's youth

The Allende meteorite findings are consistent with some theories about how dust grains formed and moved about in our solar system's infancy, eventually seeding the formation of planets, researchers said.One of these theories depicts the early protoplanetary disk as a sort of washing machine, with the sun's powerful magnetic fields churning up gas and dust and spreading the stuff far and wide. Heated-up grains from near the sun and cooler dust from farther out were eventually incorporated into asteroids and planets, the theory goes.There are problems with the details of this model, but it is a useful framework for trying to understand how material originally formed near the sun can end up out in the asteroid belt, said study co-author Ian Hutcheon, of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif.The team hopes to crack open and study more meteorite inclusions to help determine whether the Allende sample is unique, or if its jet-setting youth is typical, researchers said.Follow SPACE.com for the latest in space science and exploration news on Twitter @Spacedotcom and on Facebook.

Purdon revives debate about Lord's Prayer

Colleen Purdon has re-ignited a debate over reciting the Lord's Prayer before city council meetings.Purdon introduced a motion Monday that asks city staff to prepare a report on the reason the prayer is recited before each regular meeting, saying it is time to rethink the practice.Reciting the Christian prayer "is not a very inclusive start to a council meeting, she said in an interview.

Council supported Purdon's motion for a staff report.Before each council meeting, the mayor or her alternate invites everyone in the chamber to join in council's tradition of standing to recite the Lord's Prayer or observe a moment of personal reflection.The prayer is always recited aloud, often informally led by Coun. Peter Lemon.Item No. 3 on each council agenda says Lord's Prayer or traditional faith blessing.The appropriateness of reciting the Lord's Prayer before a municipal council meeting has been questioned across the province.The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled in 1996 that the use of the prayer at council meetings in Penetanguishene violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.Four years ago, a group called Secular Ontario identified Owen Sound as one of 18 rogue municipalities that recite the prayer.In a December 2006 letter to council, Secular Ontario president Henry Beissel said reciting the prayer before a council meeting violates the law of Ontario and asked that Owen Sound put an end to the offending practice immediately.

Warden Arlene Wright said Thursday she has no intention of changing the practice of starting Grey County council meetings with the Lord's Prayer unless someone raises it.Wright is one of two Owen Sound representatives on county council. On Monday, in Wright's absence, Owen Sound councillors asked staff for a report into the practice of saying the prayer before city council meetings.We do not follow what the municipalities do, we do our own thing, Wright said when asked if that report could have an impact at the county level.Wright said she was quite surprised by the phone calls and e-mails waiting for her when she returned from the Good Roads and Rural Ontario Municipal Association convention in Toronto on Wednesday.A number of people wanted to know why we are getting rid of the Lord's Prayer, she said, and I had to read the back editions of the paper to determine what they were talking about.

The Quebec Human Rights Tribunal (QHRT) came out with a very controversial — make that silly — decision two weeks ago.It ordered the city of Saguenay to stop reciting a Christian prayer before meetings of the municipal council, to withdraw any religious symbols — namely a religious statue and the crucifix — from its public spaces and ordered the city pay Alain Simoneau, the complainant, $30,000.This judgement confirms what many of us have being fearing for many years: Our country is slowly moving from being a democratic society where decisions are made by elected officials towards one ruled by a totalitarian government of judges.It takes for granted that, left to themselves, democratically elected city councillors or members of Parliament would allow the tyranny (in this case, religion) of the majority to oppress our minorities. It implies human-rights commissions and tribunals, on the other hand, are made up of altruistic commissioners and judges working for our common good.This is pure anti-democratic, politically correct nonsense!

Religious freedom exists in this country. You can convert from one religion to another or not have any faith except in yourself. That is not the issue at stake.
What is at stake is the decision our ancestors made to recognize the role played by the church in our history. The Catholic Church has had a historic, major and unique contribution in Canada’s development, particularly in Quebec. It established our first education and health-care systems. It actively participated in making the world we currently live in.We cannot make a clean sweep of our past. Should we burn all the paintings of our former politicians in our parliaments? Should we knock down statues of people who changed our communities for the better in each city? Of course not.Why should it be different when it comes to religion? The Quebec flag has a cross right in the middle of it. Our national anthem in French has clear religious references. There is a crucifix above of the speaker’s head in the National Assembly.

We shouldn’t change our flag, our national anthem or the decor of the National Assembly to please a few atheists who ignore or reject our past. We are proud, not ashamed, to live in this peaceful and prosperous part of the world that is the legacy of several generations of courageous men and women. And yes, some of them happened to be people of faith.So why should we pay $30,000 to a so-called victim whose freedom was violated by hearing a 60-second prayer before a municipal council meeting and by seeing a crucifix on the City Hall wall? People are raped everyday and never get a penny for their real pain.There are limits to using taxpayers’ money to pay for the left’s new attempt to brainwash us so we feel guilty.Thank God (or Allah or Buddha or whatever) Saguenay Mayor Jean Tremblay is challenging the QHRT’s decision. And very wisely, he didn’t do it at the taxpayer’s expense. The community mobilized to raise the funds to cover the charges the appeal will cost.Over the last few days, he has collected more than $120,000.If you believe in democracy and want to protect our heritage, you should consider sending a few bucks to Mayor Tremblay.

Moscow – Russia successfully tested a second prototype of its revolutionary new fifth-generation fighter plane Thursday, a futuristic, ultrafast, and stealthy warbird that may be in the possession of the Russian Air Force by 2013.If Russian claims about the Sukhoi T-50 multirole fighter are true, then the country that has made do with Soviet-era arms for the past two decades is poised to roar into the 21st century with a cutting-edge weapons system that is so advanced and complex that only the US has been able to field one.This is a unique achievement for post-Soviet Russia, and we're leaving Europe, China, and Japan far behind in the race to build a fifth-generation fighter, says Alexander Khramchikin, an expert with the independent Institute of Political and Military Analysis.This puts Russia at the top level in military development, and even higher.China recently tested its own version of a stealth fighter, but Russian experts say China's J-20 lacks many characteristics of the so-called fifth-generation warplanes, which are known for sustained supersonic cruise, over-the-horizon radar visibility, integrated weapons and navigation systems managed by artificial intelligence, and high-performance frames made from space-age materials.

Canadians would be concerned if bandwidth hogs are affecting their use of the Internet. The Besheva magazine published on Thursday an interview with Deputy Prime Minister and Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon.In the interview Ya’alon addressed a number of issues currently on the Israeli agenda, including the report on the targeted killing of terrorist Salah Shehadeh [in which civilians were killed as well, ed.], morality and war, the continuing freeze in Judea and Samaria, and the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.The Strasberg-Cohen committee report on the legality of the killing of Salah Shehadeh was published this week. You were Chief of Staff during that time. Although the report stated that no criminal act was committed, it also says that the event was disproportionate and that there were intelligence failures. This means that there is a moral statement being made here, that had you known about the presence of innocent civilians in the area you should not have carried out the operation. Do you accept this statement?

This is a complex question. Before the operation we set rules, according to which if he would be with his wife we would perform the mission. A Hamas terrorist was with him at the time, so as far as we were concerned it was definitely legitimate. We did not intend to hurt those 13 children next door. According to the intelligence we had, the home was to be empty that night. There is a moral question here which is legitimate and needs to be open for public discussion. This operation gave a clear message that anyone who sleeps peacefully at night with Hizbullah rockets must realize that he will wake up in the morning with our rockets.How should we understand the words of the report which say that the operation was disproportionate, but lessons have been learned? What have we changed in our behavior following the incident? What lesson has been learned?

We did not change anything. We’re not talking about a moral lesson which means changing values, but rather about an intelligence lesson. We admitted that we did not intend to cause the surrounding damage that was caused. Lessons were learned and we now collect more intelligence. If we can make a strike tomorrow with fewer casualties we would prefer that.Another issue is the communities in Judea and Samaria. Does it seem reasonable to you that the authority to approve new construction is in the hands of the Minister of Defense? After all, it is often a political person, like Barak, whose political interest is to prevent construction. Is there no conflict of interest? It's no secret that I am not satisfied with the enforcement policy in Judea and Samaria. As a law-abiding citizen I think we need to enforce the law against illegal construction, be it Jewish or Arab. Regarding our right to build and live in Judea and Samaria, I have expressed my opinion more than once: I am not satisfied with the way this right is applied.

What about the functionality of the Defense Minister?

Such questions should not be referred to me. I said I am not satisfied with the policy and I have been acting accordingly over the last two years.Will I get a similar response if I ask when will the construction freeze end? In practice no tenders are being published.First of all, there is building in places where there is no need for new tenders, and I hope that we will soon see construction in places where there is a need for tenders. There are various considerations on this issue, but I am certainly not too pleased about this either.As a senior member of the group of seven ministers, you might be able to explain the government's policy on the Gaza Strip. We are at war with them, they shoot at us, they’re holding a kidnapped Israeli soldier, and yet we help their economy and agriculture, allowing them to get millions of dollars into Gaza. What's going on here? Our relationship with Gaza is a strategic confusion which is a result of what happened during the Disengagement, which I opposed as you may recall. We disconnected the IDF and the residents from Gaza but we continued to be held responsible for the supply of Gaza’s civilian needs. Some of the recent developments are leading to a strategic change, which does not happen in one day. There's a hostile entity there and as long as they shoot at us we will react accordingly. Until they are able to supply their own electricity and water without being dependent on us we take care to ensure that there’s no a humanitarian crisis there, but we should head towards strategic clarity, which means that if this is a hostile entity we should no longer be providing them with the electricity that produces the rockets that are fired at us. We should strive to complete the Disengagement.

Why wait? They have a border with Egypt. Why does everything have to fall on us? It's a question of managing and implementing the Disengagement. Indeed our desire is that the point of departure from the Gaza Strip will be through the Rafah [to Egypt, ed.] crossing.Another question of unclear policy: We’ve heard you before talking about the danger of a Palestinian state. Quite a few Likud ministers have also supported this position. How does this fit in with the Bar Ilan speech and with striving to renew negotiations with Abbas? No minister among the seven [inner cabinet members, ed.] believes that an agreement with the PA can be reached in the foreseeable future. We have seen it in their refusal to accept our three conditions - a willingness to recognize Israel as a Jewish nation, a willingness to recognize the arrangement reached as the end of the conflict, and a willingness to accept our security needs, especially in light of the Oslo experience that led to over a thousand dead and to the abandonment of Gaza which became an incubator for terrorists. These requirements have been met with absolute refusal.The ball is in their court, even if certain elements in Israel and abroad do not see it this way. One example is the leader of the opposition [MK Tzipi Livni –ed.] who experienced the Palestinian Authority’s refusal after the Annapolis conference, and yet says that their government almost reached an agreement but that the elections interrupted the possibility of achieving one. This is a very serious statement that does not reflect the truth or reality. Saying such things hurts us and our interests around the world and causes more pressure on us.What you are saying seemingly implies that we are conducting a policy with the PA that relies on their refusal.We said that we do not want to control them, and indeed they conduct their own civil affairs. If they do not have a clear willingness to recognize our rights, then we won’t mention even a millimeter of concession. The question is whether there is a willing partner in the process who will prove himself as serious, with an ability to govern, manage the economy and especially educate their youth to accept Israel's existence, or whether they prefer to educate them to explode on us. Now they prefer to educate them to explode, they deny our existence, and their maps [including Israel,ed] are all covered with the flag of Palestine, so there is nothing to discuss regarding conceding space or, G-d forbid, dividing Jerusalem. It is clear that any paper we sign will be lit with the fire of terrorism.

And what about the vision of a Palestinian state? Our intention is to leave the situation as it is: autonomous management of civil affairs, and if they want to call it a state, let them call it that. If they want to call it an empire, by all means. We intend to keep what exists now and let them call it whatever they want.

Even the Prime Minister is behind this idea? As you can see we have already been serving for two years as a government, despite the left opposition parties criticizing us when there is no progress in the negotiations, and unfortunately their perception of progress is an Israeli withdrawal. Our approach is completely different. Our approach is steadfastness, development, construction, strengthening and so on. Obama Considering Every Option On Libya

Echoing statements made by British Prime Minister David Cameron, US President Barak Obama announced Thursday he is considering every option, including military intervention alongside European allies, due to fears Libya’s bloody crisis will devolve into chaos. Characterizing Libyan strongman Moammar Qaddafi's grip on power illegitimate, Obama said: Colonel Gaddafi needs to step down from power and leave.
Obama's comments came on the heels of a statement by US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who said implementing a no fly zone in Libya would be an act of war and complained of loose talk about military intervention in Libya. Gate's seemed to be implying committing an overextended US military in Libya was an irresponsible proposition in light of ongoing operations in Afghanistan, phasing out commitments in Iraq, and Iran and the Persian Gulf as potential trouble spots.Obama appeared to be supporting Cameron's tough-talk on Libya by closing ranks following Gates' warnings, which gave an impression of division on the part of western allies, and sparked criticism on the domestic front, especially from Republican politicians. On Thursday, Senator John McCain criticized Gates, saying: May I just say, personally I don't think it's `loose talk' on the part of the people on the ground in Libya or the Arab League or others, including the prime minister of England, that this option should be given the strongest consideration.

I don't want us hamstrung, Obama insisted. At the same time, the President reiterated he will not act without the consent of his peers in the international community. There is a danger of a statement that, over time, could be bloody. And that is something that we're obviously considering. So what I want to make sure of is, is that the United States has full capacity to act — potentially rapidly — if the situation deteriorated in such a way that you had a humanitarian crisis on our hands.Those around him [Qaddafi] have to understand that violence that they perpetrate against innocent civilians will be monitored and they will be held accountable for it, Obama said. IAF Communications Unit Embraces New Media

The Israel Air Force Communications Unit is launching an International New Media program targeting the English speaking world, which will include a constantly updated website, Facebook page and Twitter feed. The unit will be under the aegis of IAF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Assaf Librati, reports IAF Online Communications.
Explaining the rationale for the new initiative, Lt. Col. Librati said, The Israeli Air Force is a center of profound research, international cooperation, immense diversity, and advanced technology within the Israel Defense Forces. We believe that we have much to share with the world about who we are, what we do, our capabilities, and our ongoing participation in humanitarian operations around the world. Starting this year, the IAF will add a fully operational English website, Facebook page, and Twitter account to our regular means of communication. We see this as a force multiplier and an important step forward in communicating about Israel, the IDF, and the IAF directly with stakeholders around the world.

The International New Media program will be run by Major Yael Bar, Director of Online Communications and Editor in Chief of the Israeli Air Force Magazine. Major Bar said, The IAF’s online presence, including a Hebrew website and Hebrew Facebook page, was launched in 2010 and has grown to be very successful with thousands of unique viewers each week from Israel. Our experience has shown us that the people, operations, and capabilities of the IAF are of growing interest not just to Hebrew speakers, but also to the international community. This is why we are launching a robust online presence in English for 2011.The program will leverage the existing staff 20 writers, photographers, videographers and editors who support the entire IAF Communications Unit. Hamas forces stormed into banks in Gaza twice this week and demanded money at gunpoint, making off with a total of $350,000. Leaders of the terrorist group declared that they were protecting the Palestinian people's money, not stealing.
Banks in Gaza shut down in protest, and will reopen on Sunday. The Hamas-affiliated National Islamic Bank remained open.The Palestinian Authority condemned the seizure by force of arms of amounts of cash... in a way that is against all laws and norms of banking. PA officials called the incident deplorable.Hamas argued that customers at the Palestine Investment Bank had been unable to withdraw their money. The bank told customers that their money had been transferred to banks in Judea and Samaria, on orders of the PA-run Palestine Investment Fund.The money was taken from the bank in order to give access to customers, Hamas claimed.A similar incident took place in June, when Hamas police stole $16,000 at gunpoint after the PA froze funds.

The same thing happened to another climate-monitoring satellite two years ago with the same type of rocket.We failed to make orbit, NASA launch director Omar Baez said at a press conference Friday. Indications are that the satellite and rocket ... is in the southern Pacific Ocean somewhere.Officials explained that a protective shell atop the rocket didn't come off the satellite as it should have about three minutes after launch. That left the Glory spacecraft without the velocity to reach orbit.The 2009 failed satellite, which would have studied global warming, crashed into the ocean near Antarctica. Officials said Glory likely wound up landing in the same area. Both were on Taurus rockets launched by Orbital Sciences Corporation of Dulles, Va.

NASA has already started a board to investigate the mishap. The next NASA Earth sciences launch on a Taurus rocket is scheduled for 2013 but the space agency can still change launch vehicles if the Taurus proves unreliable, NASA Earth Science Director Mike Freilich told The Associated Press.I don't know if that's necessary or not, Freilich said. We're not going to fly on a vehicle in which we don't have confidence.The $424 million mission is managed by the NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. NASA paid Orbital about $54 million to launch Glory, according to Orbital spokesman Barron Beneski. The Taurus rocket has launched nine times, six of them successfully.NASA and Orbital spent more than a year studying and trying to fix the problem that caused 2009's Orbiting Carbon Observatory to fail. The payload fairing — a clamshell-shaped protective covering for the satellite — did not open to release the satellite.The same thing happened with Glory, officials said.We really went into the (Glory) flight feeling we had nailed the fairing issue, said Ronald Grabe, general manager of Orbital's launch systems division and a former space shuttle commander.

Orbital officials said they redesigned the system used to trigger the removal of the protective covering and a similar system worked three times in other Orbital rockets, not the Taurus. There are different weight and size issues with the Taurus rocket.Had Glory reached orbit it would have been on a three-year mission to analyze how airborne particles affect Earth's climate. The tiny atmospheric particles known as aerosols reflect and trap sunlight. The vast majority occurs naturally, spewed by volcanoes, forest fires and desert storms. Aerosols can also come from manmade sources such as the burning of fossil fuel.Glory would also have tracked solar radiation to determine the sun's effect on climate change.For about a decade, scientists have complained of a decline in the study of Earth from space. NASA spent more money looking at other planets than it did at Earth in 2007. That same year, the National Academy of Sciences warned that NASA's study of Earth is at great risk with fewer missions than before and aging satellites.NASA's Freilich said airplanes and other satellites can track climate change, though not as well. The solar radiation tracking is done by other older satellites and will continue, while a new proposed satellite, scheduled for launch by the end of the decade, can look for aerosols, he said in a telephone interview from Vandenberg.The loss of Glory will mostly hurt projections and modeling of future climate change, he said.The NASA team does the things that are important, not necessarily the things that are easy, Freilich said. Sometimes it takes more than one try at it.Investigators spent several months testing hardware after the 2009 accident, interviewing engineers and reviewing data and documents. The probe did not find evidence of widespread testing negligence or management shortcomings, but NASA declined to release the full accident report, citing sensitive and proprietary information.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – Muammar Gaddafi's forces battled rebels on several fronts in Libya on Friday and unrest erupted in the capital when gunmen fired to break up crowds shouting Gaddafi is the enemy of God.Vowing victory or death, eastern-based rebels pressed home a westwards push with an attack on the oil town of Ras Lanuf, which lies on a strategic coastal road, claiming to have taken its airport.In the west, security forces loyal to Gaddafi recaptured parts of Zawiyah, a town near the capital Tripoli that has for days been defying his rule, and residents said at least 30 civilians had been killed, including the town's rebel commander.News of the fighting pushed up U.S. crude prices to their highest levels since September 2008, and Brent crude futures for April delivery rose $1.36 to $116.17 a barrel.The International Energy Agency said one million barrels per day (bpd) of Libya's oil output was shut, the top of the range it estimated on Wednesday.The rebellion in Zawiyah -- the closest rebel-held territory to the capital and the site of another oil refinery -- has been an embarrassment to the authorities who are trying to show they control at least the west of the country.

Western nations have called on Gaddafi to go and are considering various options including the imposition of a no-fly zone, but are wary about any offensive military involvement.In the east, rebels were attacking a military base on the outskirts of Ras Lanuf, an oil port on the Mediterranean, which has a refinery, pipelines and a terminal, and the army responded with artillery fire and helicopters firing machine guns.Flashes, thuds and bangs resounded from the battlefield, along with wailing sirens and puffs of smoke in the air.Rebels said they had captured the airport near the town and intended to push forward toward the military base after dark.An oil facility at Zueitina, south of the Libyan rebel-held city of Benghazi, has been damaged and is on fire, Al Jazeera said, showing a video of black smoke rising from an oil plant. The demonstrators spilled out of the Murat Adha mosque after Friday prayers, and several hundred began chanting for an end to Gaddafi's four decades in power. This is the end for Gaddafi. It's over. Forty years of crimes are over, said Faragha Salim, an engineer at the protest in Tajoura.Up to 100 people in Tripoli had been arrested, accused of helping the rebels, Al Jazeera said. Pakistanis bury slain Christian, warn of extremism

KHUSHPUR, Pakistan – Men beat their bare chests, women wailed and church leaders warned Pakistan was sinking under the weight of extremism on Friday as they buried a Christian politician assassinated for opposing harsh blasphemy laws.Shahbaz Bhatti, the sole Christian government minister in this Muslim-majority country, was shot dead Wednesday after receiving threats for campaigning to change laws that impose the death penalty for insulting Islam. He was the second Pakistani politician killed in two months over the matter, and his death underscored the perils facing a government that is increasingly too weak to govern well in the face of rising Islamist extremism.As Bhatti was being mourned, a bomb blast at a mosque in Pakistan's northwest village of Akbarpura killed eight people, another sign of the militants' strength.Thousands of people thronged the roads in Khushpur, a Christian-dominated village of around 10,000 in eastern Punjab province, chanting slogans demanding justice as Bhatti's body was flown in and driven through in an ambulance covered with rose petals.Catholic religious leaders read prayers and Bible verses as black flags fluttered nearby and Bhatti's picture loomed over the crowd, many of whom expressed anger over the discrimination they experience. They warned that rising religious extremism could destroy Pakistan, but also told mourners that God would mete out justice if the government didn't.Christ taught us patience, so don't lose patience, said Alexander Malik, bishop of Lahore.

Gilani also avoided mentioning the blasphemy laws, which rights groups have long deplored as vague and misused to persecute minorities or settle rivalries.Christians are the largest religious minority in Pakistan, where 95 percent of the country's 180 million people are Muslim. They are often victims of discrimination and persecution, and they typically live in poor parts of towns and do low-skilled, badly paid jobs.

Bhatti and Punjab province Gov. Salman Taseer both criticized the blasphemy laws after a Christian woman was sentenced to death under them last year. On Jan. 4, Taseer was shot dead by one of his bodyguards, who said he was angry about the governor's stance on the laws.Taseer and Bhatti said the law should be amended to prevent its abuse. As things stand, people have been arrested for acts such as throwing away the business card of a man whose first name was Muhammad, the name of Islam's prophet. Although no one has actually been put to death by the state, people who are accused of blasphemy can spend years in prison as their case winds through courts — or be killed by extremists when freed.But the ruling Pakistan People's party decided to abandon Bhatti and Taseer, both leading members, on the subject, a sign of how scared it is of upsetting powerful Islamist groups. Gilani has repeatedly insisted the government would not change the laws.Bhatti's assassination drew international condemnation, including from the Vatican and President Barack Obama. Pamphlets left at the scene of the crime said the Taliban and al-Qaida took responsibility. But some hard-liners in the Pakistani religious community and the media have suggested a U.S.-led conspiracy was behind the murder.In Washington, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said the U.S. had expressed concerns about Bhatti's security. But he declined to answer a reporter's question about whether the U.S. had recommended that an armored vehicle be provided to Bhatti in the weeks preceding his assassination.I will not comment on that other than to say that we shared our genuine concerns about his security, Crowley said in Washington.

Oil prices hit highest level since Sept. 2008

NEW YORK – Oil prices hit a 29-month high Friday after the government said the nation's unemployment rate fell to 8.9 percent in February. The Labor Department said the economy added 192,000 jobs last month. That suggests more people will be driving to work at a time when world oil supplies are under pressure because of the Libyan crisis and unrest in the Middle East.Benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery gained $2 at $103.91 per barrel in New York. The price jumped to $104.64 per barrel earlier in the session, the highest level since Sept. 29, 2008.

Gasoline prices have shot up an average of 35 cents per gallon since an uprising in Libya began in mid-February. A gallon of regular unleaded gained another 4.4 cents overnight to a new national average of $3.471 per gallon, according to AAA, Wright Express and the Oil Price Information Service.Pump prices are soaring much faster than analysts expected, as a wave of rebellions sweeps across North Africa and the Middle East. Prices should peak between $3.50 and $3.75 per gallon this spring, according to Tom Kloza, OPIS chief oil analyst.In Libya, tensions escalated further on Friday as forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi used tear gas to repel protesters in Tripoli. Most of Libya's oil production has been shut down because of the crisis, and experts say the country's oil fields will be threatened as long as there's no clear leader in charge.Saudi Arabia has increased production to make up for the loss of Libyan crude, but a lengthy struggle could put significant pressure on world supplies. If it goes higher, and pushes up the cost of fuel, consumers could rein in spending, commuters may opt for public transportation and car pools, and leisure travelers will probably vacation closer to home.That's when it really starts to do damage, Flynn said.If oil rises to $150 or more per barrel, and holds at that level for months, it could trigger another recession, economists said.In other Nymex trading for April contracts, heating oil added 3 cents at $3.0777 per gallon and gasoline futures gained 2 cents at $3.0429 per gallon. Natural gas gained 2 cents at $3.795 per 1,000 cubic feet.In London, Brent crude added $1.42 at $116.21 per barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange.

Proof positive that Republicans who cross the bi-partisan aisle too many times come back as Democrat dupes: Senator John McCain and Independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman.In their newfound state of `civility’ the senators are flying not Old Glory but are white flagging orchestrated democracy movements in the Middle East.
According to McCain, all praise for the revolution goes to the social network sites and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is the most popular man in the Middle East. (FoxNews, March 3, 2011).

President Barack Obama whose group Organizing America helped hand Egypt over to the Muslim Brotherhood feels the same way about Google, Mr. McCain.Fresh home from a trip to the middle east, McCain and Lieberman sang the praises of the social networks on recent developments in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain and Libya at the Brookings Institute.This social networking cannot be underestimated in how all of these events, really the driving force in how all of this transformed and took place, crowed McCain.Lieberman called the changes, Even more consequential than the collapse of the Soviet Union and suggested, It’s in our strategic interest at this moment to help history move in the right direction.Incredibly by further emphasizing the role technology has been playing in world revolution, McCain relayed a story from a young man he met with in Egypt, who held up his blackberry and said, I can get 200,000 people in the square in two hours. And it’s Egypt the two senators advised the Obama administration to keep an eye on.Young men with Blackberrys can also get dozens of young people into Chicago department stores for a flash mob collective shoplifting.And who knows if they’re not already using technology to bring illegals over the Arizona border? And how’s this for John Maverick McCain wisdom: Egypt is the heart and soul of the Arab world. What happens in Egypt will be vital to what happens in the rest of the region.

Some not on the government payroll knew that all along.That Google-trained digital activists have already been lauded seemed to have gone over McCain, who warned against the appearance of outside interference in Cairo. He insisted that the best move for the U.S. to make was to help with job creation: I hope the high tech community and friends of ours like John Chambers and Bill Gates and all of these people would come out and say, Ok we’re gonna invest in Egypt, we’re gonna help people create jobs and opportunity.Left unsaid: Americans struggling in the recession who are not out fomenting for revolution in foreign countries can find their own jobs.Lieberman and McCain, are both advocates for a no-fly zone for Libya.
Lieberman feels that the Obama administration was a little slow in handling these events to date. Make that nine days slow, Joe.But McCain as an Obama booster could rival Nancy Pelosi. This administration came into power with an anti-Bush agenda, whether that was the right thing to do or not. I think history will judge. But I also think that this administration has come a long way, especially in this last year and I give them credit for that. And so I certainly like what Secretary Clinton has been saying. I certainly appreciate many of the things the administration has been saying.How can Obama lose with useful idiots like McCain and Lieberman in tow?

Supremes – How much more are you going to protect in the name of speech?

This week we saw the horror decision by the Supreme Court, voting 8-1 for the notorious Westboro Baptist Church. They are the church who has felt like it was God’s calling for them to go around the country and crash funerals of grieving families trying to bury their dead….you know, those who have died in our military defending our nation. How could we forget Westboro’s freedom of speech concerns over our souls when they protested at the funeral of Matthew Snyder, a brave Marine killed in Iraq.Interestingly Matthew wasn’t gay nor connected in anyway with Westboro yet they viciously picketed at his funeral so much so that his Father Albert Snyder sued Fred Phelps of the church to try and stop their picketing at military funerals around the country. I’ll never forget when they showed up in the Northwest to picket a funeral of one of our fallen war heroes, not an hour from my house. I thought I would lose my mind then.You may recall that Matthew’s Father, Albert Snyder was awarded $11 million in damages but later the award was cut in half, then the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals threw the whole award out.

What does the Supreme Court have to say for itself?

They acknowledge in their ruling that the views of Westboro Baptist Church are hateful and inexplicable. However, they strongly feel that if they ruled differently it would slow down if not stop people speaking out on controversial issues. They even talked of this also creating liability for news media and the coverage of events and commentaries.Most of us cherish free speech and see the importance of protecting that right. However, our framers never meant for that Freedom of speech to be void of total decency, responsibility and screamed out in whatever setting you chose.Try yelling Fire in a crowded theatre and see what happens. What is the problem? I can yell Fire elsewhere and say whatever I want to. It is the people’s choice if they get up, cause a disturbance and run. I didn’t make them. Yet, this is not allowed due to creating a panicked mob reaction and danger for all. Nor should it be allowed.So, we can’t say anything, where ever we want if it causes potential danger to others. What if it causes emotional trauma and damage to the family of a fallen soldier to display signs such as God hates you Destruction is Imminent Fags are Beasts at a funeral for their son or daughter? Why is the potential of several emotional trauma, insult and violation any less painful than creating potential physical damage in a theatre? I believe it is ALL pain and ALL wrong.Our founding fathers never thought in their wildest dreams that our 1st Amendment rights for free speech would be contorted to allow a group calling themselves a church to exercise their freedom and evil displays anywhere they wanted, especially at someone’s funeral. What about the rights of the family to grieve and honor their dead?

Westboro has the perfect right to believe what they want and they believe God is punishing our nation for having Gays by killing soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are known to demonstrate all over the country, sometimes sharing their anti-Semitic and anti-gay message several times a week.I was listening to one of their members on the news this morning saying how loving they really are because they are trying to yell out the truth to keep us all out of hell. They wouldn’t picket at so many funerals if they didn’t love us. We apparently are all going to hell if we want to do anything but judge and or hate gays. You see, God hates gays. Westboro’s hatred isn’t satisfied with gays. They also hate Jews and Israel. A few other picket signs I’m looking at say The Jews killed Jesus Some Jews will repent God hates Israel Mourn for your sins. Naturally they have to go to Jewish institutions and places of worship to practice their 1st amendment rights there.Of course we don’t want a slippery slope away from freedom of speech. I’m aware people say things I don’t believe or like but they still have the right to say them. That is true, accept I and most of us believe those extreme speech expressions don’t have the right to be shared everywhere they want.

Here is part of my yes and no, do or die list.

It is never acceptable, appropriate or part of freedom of speech in America to allow the Nazi party, KKK or neo Nazis to march in the streets or picket in public in America. They all have a history, not only of hate but violence and murder. We have seen what giving them power, speech and a bigger voice leads to….millions of murders. No thank you. They can keep their opinions in the living room of a house somewhere and out of the public square.Westboro Baptist Church, thinks we are all going to hell, especially if we support or love gays. I would go to hell accept I can’t get through the door and find a place to stand. There are too many of them in the way.Regardless of what anyone thinks of gays or gay behavior, as a conservative, Christian who does not believe in Gay Marriage, I will let my opinion be heard.The truth about what God says in the Bible is clear, spoken out and simple. God loves all people including gays. He identifies many sins that separate us from God, various attitudes of Judgment, hate, jealousy, gossip, rage and sexual acting out, outside of marriage, gay and straight. God lovingly calls us all back to him and offers healing to us all. Even those invested in Judgment and hatred like members of Westboro Baptist Church.I believe the Supreme Court aired in their judgment, allowing freedom of such hostile and insulting speech to be shared anywhere, violating the rights of the fallen heroes families. They could display their pickets all kinds of places. Why a funeral? That should have never been allowed.Let Freedom of speech reign BUT in appropriate locations and times.

The assaults, name calling and slander continues against those who dare to question and make comments about Obama’s eligibility and constitutional status to be President. We are distractions and we are racist, conspiratorial birthers.Let us look at some of the messiah level conservatives and what they have to say about this. First on our list of on high opinions is Karl Rove, a Fox News contributor and the former Senior Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff under George W. Bush. I have respected and supported much of what he has said over the years, but he loses my respect and support on this issue. He said on Bill O’Reilly recently that the Republican Party has to focus on real issues, not non issues. The party should ignore the birther movement. Rove compared the birthers to the John Birch Society, a far-right group started in the 1950s. He compared the 9/11 deniers with the birthers, those who want Obama to prove his eligibility.Rove made these comments to an agreeing Bill O’Reilly who also has marginalized and insulted ‘birthers’ for the last two years (translation: A birther is anyone who looks at the sea of growing evidence that Obama was not born in Hawaii and wants him to come clean and show his long form birth certificate).Karl Rove was advising the GOP not to waste time on this non issue and certainly not give anyone who believes that way any profile or stature in the party. Worshiping and sold out Bill O’Reilly agreed.

Glenn Beck has put down and minimized the eligibility issue all along. He has done this while talking passionately about our constitution, founding fathers, waging war against George Soros and more. Recently on the Peter Boyle show he was asked about eligibility. I was just interviewed myself on the Peter Boyle show and he rocks. Glenn is reported to have said the following: Where he was born? I don’t know?……then later He cares about the U.S. Constitution.He went on…..Our rights are being violated right now and I want to concentrate on that.OK Glenn, ignore the rights violating elephants stampeding through the room! So far we are wasting time, represent a non issue according to Karl Rove and Glenn thinks we should be focusing on our rights being violated, not the eligibility issue.

Who else has conservative wisdom to ad to this list?

Even the amazing Sarah Palin has strangely minimized this issue. She has stated on her Facebook postings: …….….at no point, not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.Why Sarah did you not ever suggest Obama come clean with this and show his birth certificate? You act as if that is a great thing that you didn’t ask Obama to show he was born in the US. I think it is a shame and missing the mark that you didn’t. Do you not think it odd that John McCain was asked to show his birth certificate to the media and left…he did. Obama has been asked, sued and begged to show his long form birth certificate and he has answered by spending over 2 million dollars hiding every record he has, while calling us names. According to a recent poll over 51% of Americans don’t believe he was born in the U.S. It is RATHER a big question mark.Regardless of all the suspicious behavior by Obama, fingers and signed affidavits pointing to him being born in Kenya www.obamacrimes.com, and even a former election official, Tim Adams of Hawaii signing an affidavit in 2008 saying Obama was not born in Hawaii, Rove, Beck, O’Reilly, Palin continue to ignore and betray this issue. Isn’t it most interesting that they all appear on Fox regularly and they either have their own shows or are regular guests? One thing is for sure. They refuse to honestly deal with this glaring issue of national concern and danger. Can you say, threats, intimidation, bribes and pay offs??? I think someone controlling and/or running Fox got to them and they are scared.

How is it that even with Dr. Jerry Corsi, the Governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, and former election official Tim Adams saying the birth certificate is not there, that the real story continues to be buried in most of radio and TV in America??? OBAMA LIED ABOUT WHERE HE WAS BORN. That is the real story. People don’t lie and spend money to hide info unless they have something to hide. This isn’t fringe and a waste of GOP time. I would like to start off by stressing the fact that I am NOT an economist. I am a working Joe that gets up and goes to work every day – as I have for thirty-five years – in order to pay my bills and feed my family. I do not profess to be an expert. However, I do know what my wallet is telling me – and it isn’t telling me anything good.I need not mention what we are seeing at the gas pump these days. The price of a gallon of gasoline has skyrocketed (in my home state of Florida) from just over $1.50 per gallon at the end of the Bush administration to close to $3.50 for that same gallon today.Anybody that believes that inflation is really 1.63 percent (as told to us by the federal government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics in its Consumer Price Index summary) is not living in the real world. If you shop for groceries, gasoline, insurance, or basically, ANYTHING (computers and other electronic goods notwithstanding) on a regular basis, you have seen a steady rise in prices for a number of years.There is a web site that offers an inflation calculator. This is very intriguing and allows one to determine the rate of inflation between any two dates from 1914 to the present. You can then enter that inflation rate and a dollar amount (such as the cost of goods or services) and determine what the inflated cost is. According to the information on this site, the inflation rate from January 2000 to today is 30.46 percent. This means that something that cost one dollar in 2000 costs $1.30 today.

I like to think of prices in terms of my personal price index. I do most of the grocery shopping in my family and I am keenly aware of the prices that I pay for the goods that I purchase regularly. Take, for instance, a popular national brand of orange juice that I was able to buy on sale (back in 2000) in half gallon cartons for three for $5.00. That same container of orange juice today will cost you $2.99 when you can find it on sale. But wait – the vendor recently reduced the package size from a half-gallon to 59 fluid ounces. This increase in price PLUS the decrease in package size yields a net increase in the per-ounce price from 2.61 cents to 5.07 cents, or 94 percent. And this has taken place since 2000.Granted, many factors can enter into the price of orange juice including freezes in Florida. But this is a steady long-term increase – not a seasonal trend. And how many other products can you name which have seen similar increases in price along with a decrease in package size? Ice cream and coffee are two that immediately come to mind. Or have you purchased a bag of sugar lately? A four pound bag that used to be five? If not, you are in for a shock.

My 82-year-old mother told me just the other day that the yogurt that she has been purchasing for quite some time for $2.49 just increased in price to $2.79. This sounds like a twelve percent increase to me - in one fell swoop; not over an extended period of time.We know that the Federal Reserve has been, for the past several months (and will continue doing through the third quarter of this year), increasing the money supply by a process euphemistically known as quantitative easing. The irony here is that they are not making it easier on the working people. Increasing the supply of money is the only real cause of inflation and this is precisely what the Fed is doing. The price of oil (as with the price of everything) is controlled by the laws of supply and demand. But with the Fed seemingly trying to destroy the dollar, investors are turning to commodities such as gold, silver, sugar, and OIL. Not only has oil seen a large run-up in price lately, but silver (from which, once upon a time, our coins were minted) has increased over twenty percent in the past month alone.I believe that we are seeing people eager to spend their dollars while there is still at least some value left to them, albeit not much. Hence the demand, and increasing prices, for the aforementioned commodities. It is a vicious cycle. The more the Fed devalues the dollar through forced inflation, the more investors try to unload their dollars by purchasing tangible assets with real value.

We have all heard stories about Germany in the 1920’s and the inflation that that country experienced. Stories abound of people using wheelbarrows full of money to purchase loaves of bread. Such stories may seem absurd to a majority of Americans today. But think about it in the context of such inflation taking place over a period of many years. This is precisely what we have seen in this country. The dollar has lost over 95 percent of its value since 1900. This means that, what once sold for less than five cents now costs a dollar – two 50-cent rolls of pennies – or more. A forty cent loaf of bread of a few decades ago now costs upwards of three dollars. Hence it is not difficult to spend a wheelbarrow full of pennies on a single trip to the grocery store.In my opinion, if it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck – it’s a duck. Well, if it looks like inflation and feels like inflation, it IS inflation, regardless of what the government tries to tell us.Fed chairman Ben Bernanke is whispering,Don’t worry.But my wallet is screaming, Inflation!

Has America’s Playing Nuclear Patty-Cake With Egypt Been A Bad Idea?

So tell me, has America’s playing nuclear patty-cake with Egypt been a bad idea? After reading this article you will know why it was a very bad idea.Now that the restraining influence of President Hosni Mubarak is gone, it would appear to be a very bad idea. And the strong support former President Mubarak’s government had previously received from most of the key nations involved in the Middle East for the past 30 years, primarily Israel and the United States, will now come into clearer into focus and scrutiny. You see, Hosni Mubarak was the key figure in keeping a previously clandestine Egyptian nuclear weapons program under tight controls; a nuclear weapons program manifest in the Argentina-built 22-megawatt reactor located in Egypt’s Nile Delta town of Inshas.It would seem that friendly regimes, long-standing allies, can have a clandestine nuclear weapons program because they’ve shown themselves capable of not behaving badly as in the case of the world’s largest supporter on international Islamic terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In just a couple of days new information is going to be in published in the media which details certain facts about the Egyptian nuclear weapons program which is now, thanks to the amatuerish and extremely ill-advised pressure from Obama and his friends in throwing Hosni Mubarak under the bus, clearly within the grasp of the Islamo-Nazi fundamentalists of Egypt’s al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood).
The United States Intelligence Community (USIC) has just assessed, based upon direct knowledge of the Egyptian nuclear progam since the mid-1980s, that a nuclear weapons capability is well within the grasp of either the Egyptain armed forces or the Ikhwan in their ongoing power struggle in Egypt. The Ikhwan clearly have the upper-hand and the organizational edge in the struggle, and may well represent the coming power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them declared by the Lord Almighty in Isaiah 19:4. Of course, the Ikhwan covertly exist within the Egyptian armed forces, so the ultimate Egyptian power-broker could well be a combination of the two.The USIC has revealed that Egypt has quietly acquired nuclear weapons technology and material from China, North Korea and Pakistan, in addition to biological and chemical weapons capabilities, and Hosni Mubarak was the key factor in ensuring that an Egyptian nuclear breakout would not occur. Otherwise the United States would have been all over Egypt as we have been for over a decade regarding the Iranian nuclear weapons program. The key controlling factor of Hosni Mubarak no longer exists. However, even during his tenure between 1990 and 2003 Egypt is known to have conducted 16 secret nuclear experiments under the command of Brigadier General Ahmed Nashet. In this same period Egypt acquired a Russian-made cyclotron for advanced uranium enrichment, and the Argentines designed the Inshas nuclear reactor to produce weapons-grade plutonium.The bottom-line USIC assessments is that Egypt now has the resources to complete the production of nuclear warheads and a missile-borne delivery system of at least 1,000 kilometers (621 miles). How convenient! The distance between Cairo and Tel Aviv is less than half of that, and Cairo to Dimona is a mere stones throw. Worse, there’s a common border between Egyptian Sinai and the Israeli Negev were smuggling is rampant.

There is one nation in the Middle East that is not roiling in anarchy, rioting, and internal warfare. It does so without oppressing its citizens. It encourages and protects the practice of all religions. That nation is Israel.The other Middle Eastern and North African nations, all predominantly Islamic, have discovered that Islam, despite its grip on the minds and souls of Muslims, does not preclude the universal human desire for freedom, for hope of a better life.It seems that no one lacks for a reason to hate Jews, but if one steps back from the shouting and the insane claims that Jews and Zionism are responsible for everything and control everything, Israel seems to have made multiculturalism actually work.Israel, whose official languages are Hebrew and Arabic, is home to more than seven million people, 76% if whom are Jewish and 24% are mostly Muslim, but include Christians, Bahai, and probably every other faith known to God and man.

The latest news, according to a report in the March 4th Wall Street Journal, is that Israel is weighing a new plan for a provisional Palestinian state, an offer of temporary borders within which the Palestinians could establish a nation of their own.The problem, of course, is that the Palestinians have rejected this obvious solution for more than sixty years and are, themselves, divided between the Palestinian Authority and the radical Hamas that only wants to utterly destroy Israel and its Jewish citizens.The French have France, the Greeks have Greece, the Turks have Turkey and all manner of self-identifying groups have their own nations, but for many worldwide the Jews are not supposed to have their own nation or to live in the land in which their ancestors have lived for 3,500 years ago.When Muhammad began to piece together Islam, naming himself as a new prophet, he instructed the first Muslims to face Jerusalem when they prayed. After Arabian tribes of Jews refused to convert, he slaughtered their men, sold their women and children into slavery, and ordered Muslims to face Mecca instead.The Jews, however, have some good news to celebrate because on March 3rd there was a report of Pope Benedict XVI’s new book, Jesus of Nazareth—Part II” in which he asserts a sweeping exoneration of the Jewish people for the death of Jesus Christ. Given Jesus’ paternity, faith, and apostles, all Jewish, that is surely welcome news.In 1965, the Second Vatican Council document, Nostra Aetate, initially affirmed that Jesus’ death could not be blamed on the Jews as a whole at that time or today. Pope Benedict’s reaffirmation of that Catholic truth should be bigger news.

In a world in which more than a billion Muslims are eager to establish a universal caliphate, mostly by the use of terror on the Earth’s other five billion inhabitants, the Pope’s book is a candle of sanity in the darkness.Pope Benedict, forced to join the Hitler Youth, witness to the Holocaust, has made improving the Church’s relations with Jews a priority of his pontificate. He has visited the Auschwitz Nazi death camp in Poland and Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial where he prayed for the souls of those killed for the crime of being Jewish.In contrast, Islam makes death the punishment for the crime of converting to any other faith. That is surely a measure of how thoroughly evil it is. In Pakistan a Christian government minister was murdered this week. In Germany, a Muslim convert killed U.S. service members, and every day mullahs tell Muslims that suicide/homicide killing is a holy act. In America, the current regime refuses to use words like terrorism or jihad.It takes clarity and courage for non-Muslims to identify the threat to their faith and their lives. Benedict’s predecessor, Pope John Paul, was instrumental in shining a light on a comparable threat, Communism, aiding in the downfall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union. An earlier Pope, Pius XII, used his powers to resist the rise and reign of Nazism.It is a good thing to be a Catholic. It is a good thing to be a Christian. A computer expert at the influential TED Conference in California has confirmed what the New York Times already admitted in January – that the same governments calling for draconian cybersecurity powers in order to protect against cyber warfare were themselves the culprits behind an act of cyber warfare that could have triggered a new Chernobyl disaster in launching the Stuxnet worm attack against Iran.Ralph Langner, dubbed by his peers as one of the best technical minds working in the field of industrial control system security, said that the Stuxnet virus, which was used to attack Iranian computer systems that controlled water supplies, oil rigs, power plants and other critical infrastructure at the Bushehr nuclear reactor plant, was created by the United States with assistance from Israel.My opinion is that the Mossad is involved, Langner said while discussing his in-depth Stuxnet analysis at a prestigious TED conference in the Southern California city of Long Beach, reports AFP.But, the leading source is not Israel… There is only one leading source, and that is the United States, explained Langner.Langner’s conclusion only confirms what the New York Times already admitted in January, that the worm was created by the US and Israel as a weapon with which to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program.The fact that the effectiveness of the Stuxnet worm was tested at Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility strongly indicates that the virus was designed as an American-Israeli project to sabotage the Iranian program, the Times reported on January 15.

At the height of the Stuxnet attack last year, many cybersecurity advocates were citing the virus as a justification for giving President Obama a kill switch to shut down the Internet, despite the fact that the worm could only have infected computer systems by being inserted physically via a USB flash drive.The fact that the virus was created by the United States and Israel renders obsolete the entire cybersecurity agenda. Here we have the very culprits behind acts of cyber warfare telling us that we need to give them more power to counter the threat of cyber warfare.But this goes further than the Iranian nuclear program or cybersecurity. After it became apparent that the US and Israel were behind he virus, Russian officials called on NATO to launch a full investigation into Stuxnet, warning that the attack had caused centrifuges at the Bushehr to spin out of control, which could have triggered a new Chernobyl disaster.Langner said the Stuxnet code was designed to trick human operators by showing them recorded readings indicating machinery is running normally while behind the scenes they are heading for destruction.It’s definitely hard-core sabotage, Langner said of Stuxnet. It’s like in the movies where during a heist the security camera is running pre-recorded video showing nothing is wrong.Back in September 2010, we wrote several articles in which we identified Israel and the United States….as the prime suspects behind the Stuxnet worm attack, following the revelation that the virus was created by experts working for a country or a well-funded private group.At the time, debunkers labeled the claim that the US and Israel had launched the worm attack as a ridiculous conspiracy theory.

- A Reddit piece submitted by conspiracy debunker entitled, I would just to take this opportunity to debunk the conspiracy theory that Stuxnet was made by Israeli hackers,blamed low educated Iranians from poor backgrounds for the theory that Israel was behind the attack.
- The Judeosphere blog labeled the charge convoluted mental gymnastics.
- A Jewish Chronicle article written by Miriam Shaviv labeled the claim a ridiculous conspiracy theory.

Unions could block all routes into Brussels to shut down EU summit

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - As anger mounts on the left and amongst unions at European economic governance plans, Belgian workers have announced they will attempt to blockade all access to Brussels and paralyse the European capital in an attempt to shut down the European summit of 24 March. France's powerful CGT union is considering joining them.The General Workers Federation of Belgium (FGTB) has said it intends to mount barricades on the motorways coming into the city, close the train stations, bring the metro and trams to a halt and even shut down Brussels airport.We need to strike a blow,, said Nico Cue, secretary general of the metalworkers' section of the union, reported La Libre Belgique on Thursday. The Sarkozy-Merkel duo is trying to impose a competitiveness pact that could undermine automatic indexing of salaries and threaten the retirement age of 65. This subject will be found on the menu at the EU summit on 24 and 25 March to be held in Brussels, he continued.He said he did not want the union action to be a normal Brussels march through the city ending with everyone heading home with little achieved: While this could be a routine demonstration, starting from the Gare du Nord [the city's north train station] to Gare du Midi [its south train station], we believe that it takes some other action, more determined.Other unions are currently considering the proposal, including the country's Christian trade union, the CSC, which has also approached the European Trade Union Congress to organise a large-scale action the same day.France's powerful CGT union is also looking into backing the idea. The ETUC will take a decision on the matter on Tuesday.

We really need to get serious this time.Discussions at the EU level of a European economic governance and competitiveness pact initially proposed by Merkel and Sarkozy and now being moved forward by EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and focus heavily on wage restraint, raising retirement ages and restricting public spending.According to the leak of a recent draft currently on the table, the pact would also monitor public and private sector wages across the bloc, force a decentralisation of collective bargaining, and end the closed shop (where to be hired, one must be a member of a union) and reform systems of the indexation of wages to inflation where such schemes exist.On Wednesday, the European Public Service Union, representing public-sector workers, called on the EU to hold referendums on economic governance plans.

MEPs vote themselves extra €1,500 allowance a month

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - MEPs have elected to boost their monthly allowance for staff and office expenses by €1,500, mirroring a similar move last year despite a widespread austerity drive in EU member states.The decision by members of the European Parliament's budgetary committee on Thursday (3 March) will see the legislature's overall budget increase by almost €13.25 million in 2011.MEPs from parliament's Socialist and centre-right European Peoples Party groups supported the proposed raise, while other groups said the decision was unjustified.German Green MEP Helga Trupel said the move showed EU lawmakers were clearly out of touch with fiscal realities ...[and] sent completely the wrong signal to EU citizens. Portuguese far-left MEP Miguel Portas called the decision misconceived.Meanwhile, supporters say the extra allowance would enable the hiring of additional staff to tackle the growing workload under the EU's new Lisbon Treaty, in place since 1 December 2009.I cannot do the political or control work I have to do if I don't have more staff, said German centre-right MEP Ingeborg Grassle. Euro deputies are paid €7,956.87 per month before tax, and an additional €300 for the days they officially sign in to work in Brussels or Strasbourg.They also receive a monthly allowance of €19,709 for staff and other office expenses, with Thursday's decision set to increase this figure.The move is unlikely to be welcomed in several corners of Europe as EU governments embark on a wave of spending cuts and tax increases.

Leaders from Britain, France and Germany late last year called for limits to be placed on future EU spending, while a commission and parliament request for a six percent increase to the EU's 2011 budget was eventually cut in half by member states.In a sign that some in the EU institutions were beginning to take note, an internal memo written by commission secretary-general Catherine Day last month called on the EU body to change its culture of entitlement and bureaucratic focus and to embark on a new efficiency drive.

MEPs take note of attacks on EU press freedom

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – European governments are using wiretaps, the threat of large fines and the prospect of psychiatric testing to intimidate journalists and muzzle the region's free press, according to stakeholders and experts in the field. A shortage of funds and an over-concentration of media ownership are also key problems facing the sector, participants at a conference organised by the European Parliament's Socialist group said on Thursday (3 March).Traditionally seen as a 'fourth estate' charged with monitoring the holders of power, Europe's media freedom has recently come under greater scrutiny after Hungary's centre-right government introduced a widely–criticised media law on 1 January 2011.But other EU countries including Romania, Italy, Bulgaria and France have also witnessed rising tensions.Romanian broadcast laws have been subject to six amendments over the past year, with up to 40 percent of broadcast time now reserved for the national news agency, said Ioana Avadani, executive director of the Centre of Independent Journalism, a Bucharest-based NGO.The country's parliament is currently debating the idea of imposing annual psychiatric controls on journalists, while the government recently changed a public procurement law related to media contracts.

Basically the government can give public money to whoever it wants, Ms Avadani said, reserving her strongest criticism for the government's plan for a national defence strategy under which media groups would be listed as a vulnerability to the state.
In France, the recent scandal linking L'Oreal billionaire-heiress Liliane Bettencourt with Eric Woerth, the former treasurer of President Nicolas Sarkozy's UMP party, has added to tensions.The centre-left Le Monde newspaper subsequently accused the French presidency of ordering counter-intelligence agents to identify the source who leaked information to the newspaper.Added to this, the fall in readership and recent wave of newspaper/television takeovers has threatened the independence of some of the country's most established news outlets, said Jean-Marie Charon, a sociologist with CNRS, a French government-funded research body.Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's fusion of political and media power has been a bone of contention for many years.But the embattled premier could opt to further increase the size of his media empire from 1 April when a law restricting media concentration is set to expire, warned Roberto Natale, President of the Federazione Nazionale Stampa Italiana.As prime minister, only he can decide on whether to extend the law or not, said Mr Natale.In Bulgaria, the centre-right government is also planning to introduce new media laws.

These, together with widespread wiretapping of journalists and a failure to properly investigate a recent bomb explosion at the Sofia-based headquarters of the Galeria magazine were reminiscent of the country's past totalitarian regime said Borislav Tsekov, director of the Institute of Modern Politics in Bulgaria.The European Commission's role in supporting Europe's free press has also come under greater scrutiny following Hungary's controversial new media law, but critics say a series of amendments demanded by the commission are essentially cosmetic in nature, with the homogeneous nature of Hungary's powerful new media authority left intact.As a result, other EU states and aspiring members may also be tempted to engage in media restrictions said Gabor Horvath, deputy editor-in-chief of Hungary's Nepszabadsag newspaper.Different EU initiatives have also faced criticism, with a European Parliament plan to allocate €1.5 million to investigative journalism research grants in 2010 and 2011 eventually withdrawn due to fears over editorial independence. While several speakers at Thursday's event called for the introduction of new EU legislation to secure Europe's media freedom and potentially provide financial support, the general secretary of the International Federation of Journalists said policymakers should concentrate on implementing legal provisions already in place, including the EU's Charter of Fundamental Rights.Creating new legislation is such a long-winded debate. Thousands march in India against EU trade deal

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Thousands of HIV-positive protesters took to the streets in downtown New Delhi on Wednesday (2 March), concerned that an imminent EU-India free trade agreement (FTA) will end the production of affordable life-prolonging drugs.
The rally of more than 2,000 demonstrators from India and other Asian countries coincided with the re-start of sensitive trade negotiations in Brussels, with officials suggesting an end to the 2007-initiated talks is in sight.But opponents of the deal say an EU request for a data exclusivity clause will drive the price of generic drugs made in India above an affordable level for people in poorer countries.More than 80 percent of the AIDS drugs our medical practitioners use to treat 175,000 people in developing countries are affordable generics from India, said Paul Cawthorne, a spokesman for Paris-based humanitarian group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF).Beyond AIDS, we rely on producers in India for drugs to treat other illnesses, such as tuberculosis and malaria. We cannot afford to let our patients lifeline be cut, Mr Cawthorne added, reports AFP.Medicines have proved a sticking point in the ongoing discussions, with the EU keen to secure India's commitment to a strong intellectual property rights regime with respect to drugs.European drug manufacturers complain that many of their patented products are frequently undercut by generics produced in India. EU customs officials have seized a number of containments bound for the 27-member state market over the past few years.

Until recently, Indian regulations allowed pharmaceutical companies to patent only drug-making processes and not the final products. Pressure from the World Trade Organisation has resulted in a tightening of those rules, but not as much as the EU would like.Critics of the FTA say Europe's demand for data exclusivity would mean that clinical trial data filed by one company could not be relied upon by other companies. As a result, the need for each firm to produce its own clinical trial tests would dramatically increase the price of medicines, they complain.The United Nations is among those who also fear data exclusivity provisions could act like a patent and block more affordable generic medicines from the market.It would be a colossal mistake to introduce data exclusivity in India, when millions of people across the globe depend on the country as the pharmacy of the developing world, said Anand Grover, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health.The EU is India's largest trading partner. Bilateral trade in goods and services between the two sides in 2009 was worth just under €69 billion, according to European Commission figures.

Another sensitive issue in the talks relates to the automobile sector, one of the subjects being discussed by commission and Indian negotiators this week. Here Europe is pushing for a reduction in Indian import tariffs on European cars, currently around 110 percent. Indian car manufacturers are against the move.We are aware of the position of the Indian car industry with respect to the negotiations, EU trade spokesman John Clancy told the Business Standard newspaper this week. But it is clear that in order for the EU to support this agreement, access to India's car market must be improved significantly.A compromise deal could revolve around the abolition of tariffs on high-end, luxury cars, while small models retain a degree of protection.
