Why the Durham Report Matters to Democracy-It is a damning account of the corruption of the FBI and its accomplices.-By The Editorial Board-May 16, 2023 12:38 pm ET

The 306-page Durham report released Monday afternoon is far more comprehensive than anything issued by original special counsel Robert Mueller. Mr. Durham had already unfurled some of the narrative with his prosecutions of Russian national Igor Danchenko and Democratic lawyer Michael Sussmann. He lost those cases, though the indictments laid out how the Clinton campaign used foreign nationals, an oppo-research outfit, and political insiders to feed the FBI and the media lies about Trump collusion. The Durham report gives a fuller picture of the FBI’s complicity under former director James Comey and deputy Andrew McCabe. It scores an FBI that “failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law.” Here are some of the specific findings:• No basis for investigation. The FBI lacked “any actual evidence of collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia when it violated its standards and jumped over several steps to initiate a full investigation, including probes into four members of the Trump campaign. The pretext for the probe—a random conversation between unpaid Trump adviser George Papadopoulos and an Australian diplomat—was so flimsy that FBI agents complained it was “thin” and British intelligence was incredulous. The FBI opened the probe without doing interviews, using any “standard analytical tools,” or conducting intelligence reviews—which would have shown that not a single U.S. agency had evidence of collusion.• Bias. The Durham report makes clear that partisan hostility played a role in the probe. The report cites a “clear predisposition” to investigate based on a “prejudice against Trump” and “pronounced hostile feelings” by key investigators, including former agent Peter Strzok, and former FBI attorneys Lisa Page and Kevin Clinesmith.• Double standards. The report lays out several instances in which the FBI was concerned that agents of foreign governments were seeking influence by donating to the Clinton campaign or the Clinton Foundation. Yet in one case in 2014 the FBI dawdled over obtaining a warrant from the secret FISA court because—according to an agent—“[T]hey were pretty ‘tippy-toeing’ around HRC because there was a chance she would be the next President” and the FBI was concerned about interfering with a coming presidential campaign. The FBI gave a Clinton representative a “defensive briefing” about the risks of foreign actors. Mr. Trump received no such briefing.• Willful ignorance. The report lays out numerous examples of the FBI ignoring evidence that it was being used by the Clinton campaign to execute a political dirty trick. This included intelligence the government received in July 2016 alleging that Mrs. Clinton had approved “a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security services.”Former CIA director John Brennan briefed this material to President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Mr. Comey, yet the FBI ignored it. It did the same when it learned that collusion dossier author Christopher Steele was working for the Clinton campaign and that Mr. Steele and oppo-research team Fusion GPS were spreading disinformation to the press. And it ignored exculpatory statements made by Messrs. Page and Papadopoulos in secret FBI recordings.• Russian disinformation. The report says that two members of Russia’s intelligence service “were aware of Steele’s election investigation in early July 2016”—when the former spook first contacted the FBI with his dossier—and that as a result his sources may have been “compromised.” This means the FBI probe that disrupted American politics for three years may have begun as a Russian intelligence operation. All of this is an indictment of officials who were supposed to supervise the FBI, whose director reports to the Attorney General. Where were Ms. Lynch and her deputy, Sally Yates? The report notes that Deputy Assistant AG Stuart Evans raised concerns with the investigation, but the Comey FBI snubbed him, and higher-ups at the Justice Department ducked their duty. The press corps was also an all-too-willing accomplice to the collusion con, yet there has been little to no outrage or even self-reflection at having been played for dupes. Most coverage largely dismisses the Durham report because no one new was indicted. The press performance in the collusion story has done untold damage to its credibility, and it’s a major reason that much of the country believes nothing it reads or hears about Donald Trump. The Durham team deserves credit for not engaging in leaks, innuendo or politicized actions—precisely the FBI behavior it is criticizing. The report notes that if the findings “leave some with the impression that injustices or misconduct have gone unaddressed, it is not because the Office concluded that no such injustices or misconduct occurred,” but rather that “the law does not always make a person’s bad judgment, even horribly bad judgement” a crime. The FBI responded to the report by claiming it has already “implemented dozens of corrective actions” that, if in place in 2016, would have “prevented” this mess. Mr. Durham appears to have predicted this shabby evasion, and his report provides a powerful retort. Its conclusion notes that it isn’t recommending “wholesale changes” in guidelines or policies, because the FBI ability to fulfill its responsibilities “comes down to the integrity of the people who take an oath . . . As such, the answer is not the creation of new rules but a renewed fidelity to the old,” namely the FBI’s guiding principles of “Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity.”The Russia collusion fabrication and deceptive sale to the public is a travesty that shouldn’t be forgotten. That Washington’s establishment refuses to acknowledge its role in this deceit is one reason so many Americans don’t trust public institutions. It will take years for honest public servants to undo the damage, but the Durham accounting is a start.

Durham Report shows US government has become a partisan political weapon-By Post Editorial Board-May 16, 2023 5:58pm

News that the IRS ousted its entire team probing Hunter Biden simply to sideline a whistleblower, coming the same day as the Durham Report on massive Justice Department malfeasance promoting the Russiagate smear, allows for only one conclusion: Much of the federal government is now permanently weaponized to protect Democrats and undermine their enemies. This political rot in the federal government runs deep, as Durham has tirelessly documented in his investigation of the special FBI probe of ex-prez Donald Trump’s alleged Russian collusion. His final, damning report reveals not only that the agency fabricated a case against Trump without ever having any actual evidence, but also actively shielded candidate Hillary Clinton despite damning evidence.Top ranks at the FBI and Justice Department fought tooth and nail to kibosh any investigations of Hillary over both the hundreds of millions in shady donations her foundation raked in while she was Secretary of State and her casual, repeated violations of federal law around classified documents. Then they turned around and opened the Russiagate probe on the basis of third-hand rumor, soon using the Clinton-paid Steele Dossier to fraudulently justify surveilling the Trump campaign. Durham reported that Trump had never rented the presidential suite involved in the rumor. The FBI investigation of former President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia in 2016 was “seriously flawed” and had no basis in evidence, special counsel John Durham said in a report released Monday. This, though the entire top of the US government had been warned that the Clinton camp intended to create a bogus Trump-Russia scandal to distract from her misdoings. What to know about the bombshell Durham reportSpecial counsel John Durham completed a four-year review of the FBI’s investigation of allegations Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Russia-Durham found the FBI’s probe was “seriously flawed” and had no basis in evidence, according to a 306-page report released Monday. The special prosecutor found that FBI officials “discounted or willfully ignored material information that did not support the narrative of a collusive relationship between Trump and Russia.”Durham also found investigators put too much faith in information provided by Trump’s political opponents and carried out surveillance of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page without genuinely believing there was probable cause to do so.Despite the scathing findings, Durham did not recommend criminal prosecutions or widespread FBI reforms, writing that “the answer is not the creation of new rules but a renewed fidelity to the old.”Durham’s investigation lasted more than four years, longer than the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe itself. It didn’t turn the election, but the Russiagate investigation continued, kneecapping the Trump presidency. The abuse continues under President Joe Biden, and not just in the IRS’ astonishing move. The report from special counsel John Durham found the likely source of the "pee tape" rumor about former President Donald Trump came from a PR executive with connections to the Clintons. The report from special counsel John Durham found that the agency fabricated a case against Trump without ever having any actual evidence.Special counsel John Durham exposed Monday how the FBI and Justice Department plotted to rig the 2016 presidential election.Durham proves that Hillary and the FBI tried to rig the 2016 election. The FBI has simply refused to hand over to Congress documents alleging Biden took bribes while serving as veep, laughing off a subpoena.Justice has managed to delay its Hunter probe for over five years.Meanwhile, the FBI is going after parents who speak out against local schools’ policies, and had to be shamed out of a nationwide effort to treat traditionalist Catholics as potential terrorists.Fact is, such outrages go back at least to Lois Lerner’s abuses at the IRS in the runup to the 2012 election, targeting right-leaning nonprofits for punitive investigations.Meanwhile, all the media that waxed hysterical for years over Russiagate stand largely silent, at best treating Durham’s revelations as old news and House GOP investigations of the millions in foreign cash flowing to various members of the Biden clan as “Republican attacks on the Biden family.”No wonder trust in the federal government and the media is at historic lows. Democrats from Biden on down regularly bewail the nation’s political divisions. Yet healing those will require Dems and their allies to stop ignoring (and even rewarding) abuse of power as long it benefits their side.

‘Russia case’ against Trump was a shocking conspiracy that continues today-By Jonathan Turley-May 16, 2023 11:22am

In Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express,” detective Hercule Poirot observes, “The impossible could not have happened, therefore the impossible must be possible in spite of appearances.”That may be the best summary of the findings of special prosecutor John Durham in his 305-page report issued yesterday. Not only did the impossible happen, but they all did it: the Clinton campaign, the FBI, and the media. In hindsight, it would appear impossible.A political campaign hatches a plot to create a false claim of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.Making this even more implausible is that the CIA and FBI know about the plot.As detailed in the report, President Barack Obama and his national security team were briefed on how “a trusted foreign source” revealed “a Clinton campaign plan to vilify Trump by tying him to Vladimir Putin so as to divert attention from her own concerns relating to her use of a private email server.” It then happened a few days later. In the report, Durham said former President Barack Obama and his security team were briefed on how “a trusted foreign source” revealed a Clinton plan to vilify Trump. It was a plot that required everyone to take a hand in derailing a duly elected president and effectively shutting down his administration for three years of investigation and prosecutions. In this conspiracy, there were dozens of key participants in the campaign, the government, and the media. Here are a few of the characters implicated in this report. The campaign-The report details how the Russian collusion conspiracy was invented by Clinton operatives and put into the now-infamous Steele dossier, funded by the Clinton campaign. The funding was hidden as legal expenses by then-Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias. (The Clinton campaign was later sanctioned by the FEC over its hiding of the funding.) New York Times reporter Ken Vogel said at the time that Elias denied involvement in the anti-Trump dossier. When Vogel tried to report the story, he said, Elias “pushed back vigorously, saying ‘You (or your sources) are wrong.’” Times reporter Maggie Haberman declared, “Folks involved in funding this lied about it, and with sanctimony, for a year.”It was not just reporters who asked the Clinton campaign about its role in the Steele dossier. John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman, was questioned by Congress and denied categorically any contractual agreement with Fusion GPS. Sitting beside him was Elias, who reportedly said nothing to correct the misleading information given to Congress.Durham details how Elias played an active role in tracking the media campaign to push the false allegations. (Elias was recently severed by the Democratic National Committee from further representation and has been previously sanctioned in the federal courts in other litigation.)The report details how false claims like the existence of a “pee tape” showing Trump engaging in disgusting acts with prostitutes in Moscow came from a Clinton operative, Chuck Dolan, with no known basis in fact. The report allegedly details how the Russia collusion conspiracy was invented by Clinton operatives.Likewise, now-national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Clinton personally pushed an absurd campaign-created conspiracy theory about a secret communication line between Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin through a Russian bank. The Clinton campaign later admitted that it had indeed funded the dossier, but Clinton continued to claim that the election was stolen from her by the Russians. The government-Of course, this conspiracy could not occur without the assistance of the FBI, which Durham found played an eager role due to a “predisposition” of key players against Trump.Former President Donald Trump participates in a CNN Republican Town Hall moderated. The report also discusses “false claims,” like the existence of a “pee tape” showing Trump engaging in disgusting acts with prostitutes in Moscow. The dossier was discredited early by American intelligence, which learned that it might itself be Russian disinformation. There never was support for the allegations, but the FBI launched and maintained a massive investigation anyway.Durham noted that the FBI showed a completely different approach to allegations involving the Clinton campaign. The Trump investigation was a “noticeable departure from how it approached prior matters involving possible attempted foreign election interference plans aimed at the Clinton campaign.”Nevertheless, former FBI Director James Comey would continue to reference the entirely unsupported “pee tape” in interviews.Even though investigators found no support for the campaign-created story, in a 2018 interview, Comey delighted viewers by saying: “Honestly, I never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013.”The FBI was assisted in this effort by members of Congress on the House Intelligence Committee.Even when the false narrative was played out and the lack of support was becoming obvious, former House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) assured the public, on March 13, 2018, that “I can certainly say with confidence that there is significant evidence of collusion between the campaign and Russia.”He never produced the promised evidence. The media-The most essential player in this conspiracy was the media, which pumped up the dossier as gospel. On MSNBC, Rachel Maddow assured her viewers that “no major thing from the dossier has been conclusively disproven.”Republican U.S. presidential nominee Donald Trump listens as Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton answers a question from the audience during their presidential town hall debate at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S., October 9, 2016.Durham noted in the report that the FBI took a “completely” different approach to allegations involving the Clinton campaign, versus the allegations involving Trump. On CNN, one of the guests insisted, “I think we are actually have to stop calling it the ‘infamous dossier’ and increasingly calling it ‘accurate dossier,’ the  ‘damning dossier.'”CNN host Alisyn Camerota attacked Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and said the dossier “hasn’t been discredited, in fact, it has been opposite, it has been corroborated.”Durham has laid out how the most cited claims were not supported, let alone corroborated. Indeed, he found there was no basis for this investigation to have been launched in the first place.Yet, like in “Murder on the Orient Express,” all of the culprits were then let go.Comey went on to make millions selling books and giving speeches on “ethical leadership.” Former FBI special agent Peter Strzok was given a job by CNN. Clinton general counsel Marc Elias is advising people on election ethics and running a group to “defend democracy.” After all, this was a collective effort. In Washington, the more people involved in a conspiracy, the less culpable it becomes. They all did it, so no one did.Jonathan Turley is an attorney and a professor at George Washington University Law School.

Chairmen Jordan and Turner Write to CIA on Hunter Biden Intel Letter-May 17, 2023
https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-05-16-mt-jdj-to-burns-cia-re-production-agreement.pdf

Press Release-WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Chairmen Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Mike Turner (R-OH) sent a letter to CIA Director William Burns about the Committees’ investigation of the Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails signed by 51 former intelligence community officials. The Chairmen renewed their requests for documents related to the investigation and warned that compulsory process may be necessary if the agency does not comply.Read the letter:“The Committee on the Judiciary and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence are conducting oversight of the October 19, 2020, ‘Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails’ signed by 51 former intelligence community officials.“On March 21, 2023, we wrote to you requesting documents in the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) custody relating to this statement about Hunter Biden. This statement, signed by former intelligence community officials using their official titles and emphasizing their national security credentials, suggested that public reporting about Hunter Biden’s business dealings and Biden family influence-peddling ‘ha[d] all the hallmarks of a Russian information operation.’ We have since learned that the statement was drafted and disseminated following communications between former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell and Biden campaign advisor—now Secretary of State—Antony Blinken.“The CIA has documents responsive to our requests and necessary to our oversight. On October 19, 2020, at 6:34 a.m., Morell submitted the statement to the CIA’s Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB), instructing it was ‘a rush job, as it needs to get out as soon as possible.’ The PCRB staff responded at 7:11 a.m. that it had received the statement, and cleared it for publication at 12:44 p.m. on the same day. Morell speculated that the quick turn-around from the PCRB was because ‘[t]hey are probably afraid I’m coming back’ as CIA director. On May 9, 2023, the CIA produced to the Committees two emails: Morell’s email to the PCRB early on October 19, 2023, and the PCRB’s response at 12:44 p.m. However, the Committees have reason to believe additional documents remain in the possession of the CIA.“The Committees have received evidence that the CIA, or at least an employee of the CIA, may have helped to solicit signatories for the statement about Hunter Biden. According to former CIA employee David Cariens, he spoke with the PCRB in October 2020 regarding the review of his memoir and during that call a CIA employee “asked’ him if he would sign the statement. As Cariens explained:When the person in charge of reviewing the book called to say it was approved with no changes, I was told about the draft letter. The person asked me if I would be willing to sign. . . . After hearing the letter’s contents, and the qualifiers in it such as, “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement . . .’ I agreed to sign.“If accurate, this information raises fundamental concerns about the role of the CIA in helping to falsely discredit allegations about the Biden family in the weeks before the 2020 presidential election.“The Supreme Court has recognized that Congress has a ‘broad and indispensable’ power to conduct oversight, which ‘encompasses inquiries into the administration of existing laws, studies of proposed laws, and surveys in our social, economic or political system for the purpose of enabling Congress to remedy them.’ The Rules of the House of Representatives authorize the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to conduct oversight of the programs and operations of the Central Intelligence Agency. In addition, H. Res. 12 authorizes the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government of the Committee on the Judiciary to investigate, among other things:(B) how executive branch agencies work with, obtain information from, and provide information to the private sector, non-profit entities, or other government agencies to facilitate action against American citizens, including the extent, if any, to which illegal or improper, unconstitutional, or unethical activities were engaged in by the executive branch or private sector against citizens of the United States;(C) how executive branch agencies collect, compile, analyze, use, or disseminate information about citizens of the United States, including any unconstitutional, illegal, or unethical activities committed against citizens of the United States.“In adopting this resolution, it was acknowledged that the Select Subcommittee’s investigative authority extends to U.S. intelligence agencies. In fact, H. Res. 12 specifically authorizes the Select Subcommittee ‘to receive information available to the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence consistent with congressional reporting requirements for intelligence and intelligence-related activities . . . .’“The Committees have a significant oversight interest in this matter to inform potential legislative reforms in the House. Potential legislative reforms that the Committees may propose include, among other things, restrictions on how federal employees with security clearances may use their clearances or may access classified information following their departure from government. The Select Subcommittee may also consider legislative proposals that would prevent U.S. intelligence agencies from engaging in, coordinating, or promoting any political activity related to federal elections, including candidates for federal office, as well as strengthening or amending the Hatch Act. The information we have requested regarding the CIA’s involvement with the public statement is necessary to help inform this potential legislation.“While the CIA made a minimal production of documents on May 9, 2023, the CIA admitted that it did not perform a full and complete search of all agency records prior to that production. In a phone conversation on May 12, 2023, wit-Committee staff, the CIA committed to cooperating in full with the Committees’ oversight. In particular, the CIA has committed to the following steps:Conducting an agency-wide search for documents and communications with each of the names of the 51 signatories to the public statement for the period October 1, 2020, to October 31, 2020.Conducting a search for all documents and communications related to the approval of David Cariens’s memoir Escaping Madness, including but not limited to Cariens’s email(s) to the PCRB seeking approval of his work, any internal communications about the work, and any outgoing email responses from the PCRB to Cariens; and Conducting a search of all CIA phone records for the period October 1, 2020, to October  31, 2020, for any phone communications between CIA employees and any of the 51 signatories to the public statement, including but not limited to David Cariens.“We fully expect the CIA to produce all responsive documents to the Committees’ March 21, 2023, request in unredacted form no later than May 30, 2023. If the CIA does not produce all responsive documents, the Committees may resort to compulsory process.”

Floor remarks as delivered:"Thank  you, Mr. Speaker. I appreciate the gentleman yielding."A ploy? It's not a ploy when the Department of Justice treats parents as terrorists, moms and dads who are simply showing up at a school board meeting to advocate for their son or daughter."A ploy? It's not a ploy when the FBI pays Twitter $3 million, not one, not two, but $3 million to censor American citizens."It's not a ploy when the Department of Homeland Security tries to set up a disinformation governance board because we all know that the Department of Homeland Security can tell what's good speech and what is bad speech."You got to be kidding me. I'll tell you what. Dozens of whistleblowers [who] have come talk to Republican staff on the Judiciary Committee don't think this is a ploy."That's why they came to talk to us. They know how serious this is. The former Democrat Chair of the Judiciary Committee is in the press today saying we're gonna fight this tooth and nail. This is political."But meanwhile, the former Democrat Chair of the Intelligence Committee pressured Twitter to censor a journalist. You've got to be kidding me. This is the most important. This is about the First Amendment, something you guys used to care about."And I'd actually hoped we could get bipartisan agreement on protecting the First Amendment."The five rights we enjoy as Americans under the First Amendment. Your right to practice your faith, your right to assemble, right to petition the government, freedom of the press, freedom of speech. Every single one's been attacked in the last two years."The government was telling people they couldn't go to church just a few years ago."Your right to assemble, your right to petition the government. The Democrats kept the Capitol closed. You couldn't as a citizen come to your Capitol that you pay for to address your member of Congress to redress your grievances because Nancy Pelosi wouldn't let you in."Freedom of the press. I just told you what the head of the Intel Committee tried to do to a journalist. The most important right we have, though, is your right to talk."Because if you can't talk, you can't practice your faith. You can't share your faith, you can’t petition your government."The right to speak is the most important, and that's what they're going after. And that's why we've had dozens of whistleblowers come talk to us."We want to focus on that because we want it all to stop. We want the double standard to stop."This idea that if you're a pro-life activist, you're gonna get your door kicked in, you're gonna get arrested and handcuffed in front of your seven kids and your spouse for simply praying in front of an abortion clinic and telling the guy who was harassing your son to knock it off."You're gonna have the FBI raid your home, but the protests that went on at Supreme Court Justices' homes in the aftermath of the leak of the Dobbs opinion, oh, no problem there."Americans are sick and tired of it. And what we want we don't want to go after anyone. We just want it to stop, and we want to respect the First Amendment to the Constitution that the greatest country in the world has. That's what this committee is all about. And that's what we're going to focus on. That's what we're going to do."###

IRS removes investigative team from Hunter Biden probe in move whistleblower calls ‘clearly retaliatory’By Steven Nelson-May 15, 2023 7:18pm

WASHINGTON — The IRS on Monday removed the “entire investigative team” from its long-running tax fraud probe of first son Hunter Biden in alleged retaliation against the whistleblower who recently contacted Congress to allege a cover-up in the case, The Post has learned. The purge allegedly was done on the orders of the Justice Department, the whistleblower’s attorneys informed congressional leaders in a letter.“Today the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Supervisory Special Agent we represent was informed that he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation of the high-profile, controversial subject about which our client sought to make whistleblower disclosures to Congress. He was informed the change was at the request of the Department of Justice,” Mark Lytle and Tristan Leavitt wrote. The whistleblower, who supervised the Hunter Biden probe since early 2020, hasn’t publicly identified the first son as the subject of the case that he says is being brushed under the rug, but congressional sources confirmed it.“On April 27, 2023, IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel appeared before the House Committee on Ways and Means. He testified: ‘I can say without any hesitation there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or a call to a whistleblower hotline.’ However, this move is clearly retaliatory and may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry,” the lawyers went on.An IRS whistleblower who supervised the tax fraud investigation of Hunter Biden was reassigned Monday.“Our client has a right to make disclosures to Congress … He is protected by 5 U.S.C. § 2302 from retaliatory personnel actions — including receiving a ‘significant change in duties, responsibilities, or working conditions’ (which this clearly is) because of his disclosures to Congress.“Any attempt by any government official to prevent a federal employee from furnishing information to Congress is also a direct violation of longstanding appropriations restriction. Furthermore, 18 U.S.C. § 1505 makes it a crime to obstruct an investigation of Congress,” Lytle and Leavitt wrote. The whistleblower’s team added: “We respectfully request that you give this matter your prompt attention. Removing the experienced investigators who have worked this case for years and are now the subject-matter experts is exactly the sort of issue our client intended to blow the whistle on to begin with.”Hunter Biden gives journalists a thumbs-up Monday during the college graduation of his daughter Maisy. The IRS and Justice Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.Hunter Biden’s legal team and the White House also did not immediately respond. The whistleblower’s representatives declined to comment further.Hunter, 53, is under investigation for not paying taxes on millions in largely foreign-sourced income. He was in good spirits Monday and gave journalists a thumbs-up while seated near his dad, President Biden, at the graduation ceremony for his daughter Maisy from the University of Pennsylvania. The first son wrote in communications retrieved from the abandoned laptop that he paid up to “half” of his income to his father, and Hunter frequently involved then-Vice President Biden in his international business relationships. The whistleblower was ousted from the investigation, along with an unknown number of subordinates, at roughly the same time as the Justice Department released a long-awaited report by special counsel John Durham detailing bias in the FBI’s investigation of former President Donald Trump’s alleged links to Russia. The more than 300-page report dominated the evening’s news coverage. The IRS whistleblower emerged last month when Lytle informed Congress that his client wanted to share information about “preferential treatment” in the Hunter Biden case and alleged false testimony to Congress by Attorney General Merrick Garland, who repeatedly assured lawmakers that Delaware US Attorney David Weiss can unilaterally make charging decisions in the investigation.Leavitt, president of the group Empower Oversight, later joined as co-counsel.The informant, who has yet to appear at the Capitol, already made disclosures to inspectors general at the Justice and Treasury departments. Just one week after the whistleblower stepped forward, Hunter’s attorneys met with Justice Department leaders in a sign that a charging decision may come soon in the tax fraud investigation that reportedly began in 2018.NBC reported last month that there was “growing frustration” within the FBI over the fact that Weiss, a Trump administration holdover recommended to his post by Delaware’s two Democratic senators, had not yet brought charges against Hunter Biden after the bureau concluded most of its work last year. Hunter confirmed he was under investigation for tax fraud shortly after his father won the 2020 election.A different whistleblower informed Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) this month that the FBI has an informant file from 2020 alleging that Joe Biden accepted bribes as vice president. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a subpoena for it, but last week the FBI refused to give the document to Congress.Hunter confirmed he was under investigation for tax fraud shortly after his father won the 2020 election, and he reportedly borrowed about $2 million last year to pay off back taxes, though doing so doesn’t legally absolve him of the original non-payment.The federal investigation reportedly has looked at whether Hunter laundered money, violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and lied about his drug use on a gun purchase form. House Republicans, meanwhile, are investigating President Biden’s role in his family’s overseas dealings, through which Hunter Biden and first brother James Biden earned millions from partnerships with wealthy people in countries where their powerful relative held sway.Joe Biden met with his relatives’ business associates on many occasions — including those from China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine — and House Republicans allege that Biden family members offered no legitimate business services and were merely selling access to the US government.

FBI tip that allegedly puts Biden at center of ‘criminal scheme’ sends sleuths around the world-By Steven Nelson-May 3, 2023 9:18pm

A whistleblower tip about a document allegedly putting President Biden at the center of a bribery scheme triggered a guessing game across Washington Wednesday — as journalists and politicians pored over Biden’s extensive history of interactions with his family’s overseas business associates.Biden, 80, regularly met with his son Hunter and brother James’ international connections during and after his eight-year vice presidency, including citizens of China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine. However, the tip pertains to alleged wrongdoing by President Biden, a source said, meaning that it may not necessarily involve figures linked to his relatives.House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) revealed the whistleblower information Wednesday, saying the tip involves “an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.”“If it’s as explosive as what we heard, we expect it to be very difficult to get it,” Grassley told Fox News Wednesday afternoon, “but we know it’s unclassified now, and the American people deserve transparency from the FBI, and that’s what this is all about.”Rep. James Comer (R-KY) revealed the whistleblower information Wednesday.Comer set the FBI a deadline of May 10 to produce the document — leaving at least a week for speculation to mount about the dealings, and countries, involved. Here are a few possibilities:UKRAINE-Natural gas company Burisma paid then-second son Hunter Biden up to $1 million per year to serve on its board beginning in April 2014, shortly after then-VP Biden assumed control of the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy in the chaotic aftermath of the Maidan uprising that deposed Kyiv’s pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych.Just three days after Hunter joined the board, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, then a vice presidential aide, told reporters on Air Force Two en route to Kyiv that Joe Biden would push for US support to Ukraine’s natural gas industry, which later that year was awarded $50 million by Congress.Vikor Yanukovych once served as Ukraine’s President.Former White House stenographer Mike McCormick, who recently outed Sullivan as the anonymous US official who briefed reporters on the flight, tells The Post he did not contact the FBI in June 2020, ruling him out of involvement in the latest disclosure due to the date specified in Comer’s subpoena.Obama-Biden administration visitor logs show Joe Biden met with his son’s business partner Devon Archer, a since-convicted felon, in 2014 around the time both Hunter Biden and Archer joined Burisma. And Joe Biden raised eyebrows by visiting the island of Cyprus, where the gas firm’s corporate headquarters were located, on April 21, 2014.About a year later, then-VP Biden attended an April 16, 2015, dinner at DC’s Cafe Milano with a group that included Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi, who emailed Hunter the next day to thank him for the “opportunity to meet your father.”Former President Donald Trump was impeached by House Democrats in December 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress after pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Biden family, allegedly using US military aid as leverage.Although some Republicans focus on Joe Biden’s public boast about getting a Ukrainian prosecutor fired as a condition of Ukraine receiving $1 billion in US aid, Democrats have countered that the prosecutor’s ouster was sought by NATO allies as well as the American administration.MEXICO-Joe Biden as vice president also was closely linked to his family’s Mexican pursuits as both Hunter and James Biden courted the country’s business elites.Hunter Biden visited Mexico at least six years in a row — from 2011 through 2016 — while his father was vice president, according to laptop records, and communications include references to Joe Biden, though details remain vague on the amount of money that changed hands and the then-VP’s specific involvement. In November 2015, Joe Biden hosted billionaire Carlos Slim and members of the wealthy Alemán family, whom Hunter Biden and his associate Jeff Cooper were courting, at the vice president’s official residence in Washington.Pictures of the meeting show Joe Biden with Cooper, Hunter Biden, Carlos Slim, Miguel Alemán Velasco, and his son Miguel Alemán Magnani, the founder of the airline Interjet.Hunter and Cooper sought Slim’s investment in Cooper’s online gaming company Ocho Gaming and digital wallet firm ePlata, in which Hunter had a 5.25% stake. In addition, the then-second son earned $80,000 a year on the board of Cooper’s venture capital firm Eudora Global, in which he held a 3% stake and from which received a “one-time payment” of $300,000 in 2015.Laptop records show Hunter Biden facilitated access to Obama-Biden administration figures, but it’s unclear what policy changes would have been at play.Hunter set up two meetings for Alemán Magnani with then-Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx for March 17, 2014, and Jan. 23, 2015, as well as a meeting with the Federal Aviation Authority’s administrator, according to laptop emails.James Biden, who also was seeking business in Mexico, emailed Hunter on May 7, 2015, about a proposed deal that would involve Slim and oil and gas company Pemex.“Have a very real deal with Pemex (Carlos Slim) need financing literally for a few days to a week,” James Biden wrote. “Have the seller (refinery /slims) and buyer major being delivered from pipeline in (h/ USA) Nothing is simple but this comes very close. As always the devil is in the detail! Any interest on the long skirts part?”RUSSIA-Joe Biden allegedly met with one of his son’s Russian associates, billionaire Yelena Baturina, and her husband, former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, at the same April 2015 DC dinner attended by Pozharskyi.Baturina allegedly wired $3.5 million to a firm associated with Hunter more than a year prior on Feb. 14, 2014, and allegedly met with Hunter and his associate Devon Archer that April in Lake Como, Italy.President Biden stands with his son Hunter Biden, left, and sister Valerie Biden Owens, right, as he looks at a plaque dedicated to his late son Beau Biden while visiting Mayo Roscommon Hospice in County Mayo, Ireland. It’s unclear what policy matter Joe Biden would have influenced on Baturina’s behalf, though she did evade US sanctions over the Donbas War between Russia and Ukraine that broke out in April 2014.Baturina, who sought out US property investments with Hunter, and fellow Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov, who met with Hunter in March 2012 and January 2013 to discuss real estate options, according to laptop documents, have avoided increasingly severe US sanctions against Russia’s business elite since last year’s invasion of Ukraine.Ahead of his 2012 meeting with Hunter at the Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan, Yevtushenkov allegedly said he wanted to befriend Hunter so that “maybe he can do a favor for us and we can do a favor for him.”“It was a complete quid pro quo that he was going in for,” a source who spoke with Yevtushenkov at the time told The Post earlier this year. “I told him that’s not the way it works in America, [but] he basically laughed at me and told me I was so naïve.”Yevtushenkov’s MTS cellphone company was at the center of a long-running Obama-Biden Justice Department investigation into nearly $1 billion in bribes paid to Uzbekistani officials between 2004 and 2012. MTS, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange before trading in its shares was suspended in July 2022, ultimately settled the case with the Trump Justice Department in 2019 and agreed to pay an $850 million fine. The Biden family’s links to the two billionaires remain murky, as does the scope of their eventual US property purchases.Because the underlying FBI document dates to June 2020, it would not pertain to Biden’s actions toward Russia, or lack thereof, while president.Hunter Biden met with dad immediately after Romanian business meetings-ROMANIA-Hunter Biden began working for Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu in early 2015 to help him challenge a corruption prosecution.Laptop emails show Hunter managed the relationship for law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, but a person familiar with the arrangements told The Post Hunter made a side agreement directly with Popoviciu that raked in “millions” more for himself and associates.Popoviciu also hired former FBI director Louis Freeh — and Freeh called Hunter Biden directly in July 2015, just two hours before Hunter was scheduled to meet with his dad, emails show.Hunter also flew to Romania on Nov. 15, 2016, for a two day trip to represent Popoviciu before the National Anticorruption Directorate. The then-second son was booked for “breakfast with dad” two days after his return.-CHINA-WFP USA Board Chair Hunter Biden introduces his father Vice President Joe Biden during the World Food Program USA's 2016 McGovern-Dole Leadership Award Ceremony at the Organization of American States on April 12, 2016 in Washington, DC.Although one of The Post’s sources said the whistleblower complaint is not believed to deal with China, the world’s most populous country was a source of Biden family riches through two separate business ventures that involved additional countries. The first venture — the Hunter Biden-cofounded BHR Partners — was registered 12 days after Joe and Hunter Biden arrived in Beijing aboard Air Force Two in December 2013, according to the Wall Street Journal.Hunter introduced his father to BHR CEO Jonathan Li during the trip and Joe Biden later wrote college recommendation letters for Li’s children. In 2016, BHR facilitated a deal in which a Chinese firm bought a Congolese cobalt mine from US and Canadian companies. Cobalt is used in electric car batteries. The Journal reported that Hunter Biden’s “paid-in capital” to establish BHR was $425,000, according to corporate registration records, and a purported Suspicious Activity Report flagged wires totaling nearly $2.5 million among the Chinese and US BHR partners between 2014 and 2019.One week after Joe Biden’s November 2021 virtual summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Hunter Biden’s attorney Chris Clark said his client’s stake in BHR had been divested. However, records don’t reflect a new holder of Hunter’s 10% stake and neither Clark nor the White House provided further information on the supposed transaction, such as the dollar amount or buyer’s identity. The second Biden family venture in China involved a relationship with CEFC China Energy, a since-defunct firm reputed to be an arm of Beijing’s “Belt and Road” foreign influence operation.Although most known details about that project happened after Biden left office as VP, Comer has raised the possibility that the venture began while Biden remained in office.Vuk Jeremic appears to have assisted the Biden family in connecting with CEFC leaders in 2015.Vuk Jeremic, a former foreign minister of Serbia and president of the United Nations General Assembly, appears to have helped Biden family members connect with CEFC leaders in late 2015 when Joe Biden was still vice president.Hunter’s abandoned laptop included a May 2017 email from business partner James Gilliar proposing that the “big guy” get 10% of the partnership with CEFC.A whistleblower, former Hunter Biden associate Tony Bobulinski, says that he met with the elder Biden in May 2017 to discuss the venture. Both Bobulinski and Gilliar have separately identified Joe Biden as “the big guy.”Hunter and James Biden ultimately received at least $4.8 million in 2017 and 2018 from CEFC, according to the Washington Post’s later review of laptop records. The House Oversight Committee revealed in March that subpoenaed bank records show that first daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, who was married to the president’s late son Beau Biden before dating his other son Hunter, also received money from the CEFC venture — with $35,000 in transfers sent to her by a Biden family associate in early 2017.Evidence hinting at Joe Biden’s involvement in the CEFC venture includes an October 2017 email that identifies Joe Biden as a participant in a call about CEFC’s attempt to purchase US natural gas.Hunter Biden also asked in September 2017 for a new sign and more keys to an office he was renting in DC’s House of Sweden building. The sign was to say, “The Biden Foundation and Hudson West (CEFC-US)” and the keys were for Joe Biden, his wife Jill Biden, James Biden and a Chinese exec named Gongwen Dong. The keys reportedly were not picked up.

Chairman Of Homeland Security Committee: Mayorkas Has “Intentionally Violated” Law And “Lied To Congress Under Oath”by Steve Watson-May 15th 2023, 7:08 am

“Every American is at risk with this open border."GOP Congressman Mark Green, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, has blasted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for lying about the security of the border and violating the law as record numbers of illegal immigrants crossed the border last week.Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” to discuss the 83,000 crossings just last week alone, and Mayorkas’ assertion that the numbers have dropped, Rep. Green noted “What the secretary failed to say is that this week has seen more crossings than any time, any week in our history. Yes, there was some anticipation, and so people started coming across at higher numbers, in fact, record-breaking numbers, at the first part of the week.”“But in the latter part of the week, a judge ruled that they can’t do their plan of just releasing without a court date, which Secretary Mayorkas has said on the news was a bad idea. But that court ruling said he can’t do that. The drug cartels have responded, and the numbers have fallen off for a couple of days,” Green explained.“But he admitted just moments ago that they can’t predict the peak,” The Congressman continued, adding “CBP said 40 percent increase is expected with Title 42 gone.”Green laid out the stark numbers, urging “That’s another nine million people in two years. I mean, they have already let 5.04 million encounters and 1.5 million got-aways as they have tried to manage border security and not secure our border.”Green vowed to hold Mayorkas responsible, saying he knows “for a fact he lied to Congress under oath,” and adding “We’re going to look into his dereliction of duty, the laws he’s intentionally violated and not followed.”“His job is to execute the laws, not write them or make them up himself,” Green continued, adding the the DHS head’s “interim final rule to just speed people into the country is an excellent example of them just making up the laws, which we are the ones, we write the laws in Congress. He executes the laws, right, as the executive branch.”“We will show the human cost of this open border, fentanyl mothers, Angel Moms, that little baby in Florida crawling around on a VRBO that encountered fentanyl and died,” Green further urged, asserting that “every American is at risk with this open border. I would be negligent in my job not to look into this guy’s performance.”Earlier in the broadcast, Mayorkas had the gall to take a victory lap regarding the numbers of encounters on the border:Mayorkas said that he is not worried about the threat of being impeached for dereliction of duty:Meanwhile, Joe Biden gloated to reporters that the border situation is “Much better than you all expected.”Texas Senator Ted Cruz blasted Biden, repeating his charge that the collapse of the border is intentional in order to stoke a “full on invasion”.“This is a full on invasion. It is a crisis. And the Biden administration is cheering it on … they want this to happen,” Cruz told Fox News, adding, “They want more people to come in, and they don’t care about the body bags that are piling up.”“They don’t care about the women being sexually assaulted,” Cruz continued, adding “They don’t care about the children being brutalized. They don’t care about the over 100,000 drug overdoses that we had last year, two thirds of which was from Chinese fentanyl coming across the southern border.”

Senator Hawley: Democrats “Want The Chaos” At The Border-by Steve Watson-May 15th 2023, 5:56 am

"The Democrat Party’s base now flies around and jets and conferences in Davos and are a bunch of globalists who want to drive down the price of labor in America." Senator Josh Hawley urged Friday that the Biden administration is intending to “collapse the immigration system” on purpose and that “they want the chaos” at the border.“I think the plan is exactly what you’re seeing, they want the chaos,” Hawley told Fox News host Laura Ingraham, adding “The plan is to try to collapse our immigration system completely, collapse the courts collapse the asylum process, overrun the border.”“That is the plan. That’s what they want. They want the chaos,” The Senator reiterated, adding “If you thought the fentanyl problem in this country is bad. You thought it was bad in my state, where it’s the number one cause of death in the state of Missouri for young people. Just wait because they are about to turn it on full throttle.”Hawley continued, “The drugs that will come across this border, the crime that will come across this border, the danger to our families and our communities, it’s going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen in terms of border crossings in our country’s history.”“It already is, and they haven’t even lifted title 42 yet,” Hawley continued, adding “They want the immigration system to collapse because the Democrat Party’s base now flies around and jets and conferences in Davos and are a bunch of globalists who want to drive down the price of labor in America.”“They want to drive down wages for blue-collar workers in America. They want to do the bidding of the global multinationals. That’s who runs the Democrat Party today,” Hawley asserted.Watch:The situation at the border is critical with the highest number of illegal crossings ever recorded in the past week, following the end of Title 42.The media is gaslighting as usual.Reporter Bill Melugin related that this past weekend the Border Patrol arrested an Afghani individual at the border who is on the terrorism watchlist. How many more are getting through unimpeded?

Biden Regime Offering Concierge Service for Illegal Aliens – Tagged Bags, Phones & Uber Pickup at the Border-by Jamie White-May 15th 2023, 12:39 pm

Your taxpayer dollars going toward ensuring illegal migrants invade America as comfortably and efficiently as possible. The Biden administration is rolling out the red carpet for the hordes of invading illegal aliens by offering concierge service, according to reports.Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam reported from Yuma, Arizona, to explain on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” how the Department of Homeland security is now offering taxpayer-funded concierge services to illegals from all over the world.“We got in here late last night, and just to kind of test the waters, see what the pulse was down here, if it was continuing or not, if [DHS Secretary] Mayorkas by some amazing feat, actually was telling the truth, that the illegal crossings were going to stop,” Bergquam said Monday.“And it not only didn’t stop, it was worse last night than I’ve ever seen it. We had hundreds coming over. And what’s interesting is where they’re coming from.”“Now, the majority of the people that I interviewed last night were coming from Moldova, from Sudan, and from Egypt,” he continued. “That’s where they’re coming from, all over Africa and Egypt now. And I have a couple of IDs here. We have one from Ghana, one from Nigeria.”Bergquam went on to describe how the DHS facilitates the illegal immigration by providing the illegals with tagged baggage pickup, cell phones, Uber rides, and snacks.“But the thing that got me the most last night was this. This is a bag tag, but from the Department of Homeland Security, they’re so backed up, they just simply leave the tags out. They had a bag of them left down by the wall,” he said. “So if you showed up here and there was no Border Patrol here, you could tag your own bag through the Homeland Security and just wait for your Uber Border Patrol pickup to come pick you up. Nothing has changed here. It’s gotten worse.”A stunned Bannon could hardly believe what he was hearing.“Stop! My beloved brother, who’s one of the smartest guys I know, actually gave me the concept. He said it’s concierge illegal. It’s a concierge invasion!” Bannon said.“You got to give the audience this again. You got to give it again,” he said. “Hold it. No. You put a tag on a bag, you’ve got snacks, and the phone waiting for you. You literally tag your bag, and they’ll come and pick it up. Please don’t tell me that!”Bergquam noted, “I didn’t even know Homeland Security had bag tags. Like you said, concierge service….this is how secure our border is.”After learning the illegals signed the bag tags, Bannon then joked, “It’s the only place in Arizona where you’re gonna have signature verification,” referring to the botched 2022 midterm election in Arizona. This comes a day after DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that border crossing actually went down after Title 42 expired last week.In reality, the southern border is seeing record daily crossings by illegals.A recently leaked DHS email reveals the Biden regime ordered Customs and Border Protection to simply release the illegal aliens into the U.S. with no record to track them.Perhaps that’s why the Border Patrol Union last week called the Biden administration “absolutely corrupt to its core.”“If he wasn’t the president of the United States, I would arrest him,” the union’s president Brandon Judd told Fox News on Wednesday.“But he is the president, so he’s not held accountable,” he added.
