Trump ordered to pay $355 million for lying about his wealth in NY civil fraud case-Judge says former US president and his firm were ‘likely to continue their fraudulent ways’ without penalties, adds ‘the frauds found here leap off the page, shock the conscience’By Michael R. Sisak, Jake Offenhartz and Jennifer Peltz Today, 5:38 am-FEB 17,24

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York judge ordered Donald Trump on Friday to pay $355 million in penalties, finding that the former US president lied about his wealth for years in a sweeping civil fraud verdict that pierces his billionaire image but stops short of putting his real estate empire out of business.Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision after a trial in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit punishes Trump, his company and executives, including his two eldest sons, for scheming to dupe banks, insurers and others by inflating his wealth on financial statements. It forces a shakeup at the top of his Trump Organization, putting the company under court supervision and curtailing how it does business. The decision is a staggering setback for the Republican presidential front-runner, the latest and costliest consequence of his recent legal troubles. The magnitude of the verdict on top of penalties in other cases could dramatically dent Trump’s financial resources and damage his identity as a savvy businessman who parlayed his fame as a real estate developer into reality TV stardom and the presidency. He has vowed to appeal and won’t have to pay immediately.Trump’s true punishment could be far costlier because under state law he is also required to pay interest on the penalties, which James said puts him on the hook for a total of more than $450 million. The amount, which would be paid to the state, will grow until he pays. The judge made clear, however, that the Trump Organization will continue to operate, backing away from an earlier ruling that would have dissolved Trump’s companies.Engoron, a Democrat, concluded that Trump and his company were “likely to continue their fraudulent ways” without the penalties and controls he imposed. Engoron concluded that Trump and his co-defendants “failed to accept responsibility” and that experts who testified on his behalf “simply denied reality.”“This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin,” Engoron wrote in a searing 92-page opinion. “They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff. Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways.”He said their “complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological” and “the frauds found here leap off the page and shock the conscience.”Trump said the decision was “election inference” and “weaponization against a political opponent,” complaining to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida that he was being penalized for “having built a perfect company, great cash, great buildings, great everything.”James, a Democrat, told reporters “justice has been served” and called the ruling “a tremendous victory for this state, this nation, and for everyone who believes that we all must play by the same rules — even former presidents.”“Now, Donald Trump is finally facing accountability for his lying, cheating, and staggering fraud. Because no matter how big, rich or powerful you think you are, no one is above the law,” James said.Trump still owns the Trump Organization, but he put his assets into a revocable trust and relinquished a leadership role when he became president in 2017, putting his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. in charge of day-to-day operations. Engoron’s ruling imposes a three-year ban on Trump serving as an officer or director of any New York company and bars his sons for two years, effectively requiring the company to find new leadership, at least temporarily. The monetary penalties involve what Engoron said were “ill-gotten gains” that Trump attained by making himself seem richer. They include money Trump saved by securing lower loan interest rates and profits from the sale of properties that he might not have been able to develop without that financing.Eric and Donald Trump Jr. were each ordered to pay $4 million, their share of profits from the 2022 sale of Trump’s Washington, DC hotel, and the company’s former longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg was ordered to pay $1 million — half of the $2 million severance he’s receiving. All told, Trump and his co-defendants owe $364 million, which James’ office said grows to $464 million when interest is included. Weisselberg and another longtime company executive, Jeffrey McConney, were barred from ever holding a corporate finance or leadership role in the state.Engoron put the Trump Organization under the supervision of a independent monitor for at least three years, extending oversight he ordered after James sued Trump in 2022, and said the company must hire an independent compliance director to ensure that it follows financial reporting obligations and rules.Engoron wrote that stripping Trump of his companies, as he’d previously ordered, was no longer necessary because the company will be under a “two-tiered oversight” with the independent monitor, retired federal judge Barbara Jones, and the compliance director keeping an eye on any activities that could lead to fraud.Because it was civil, not criminal, the case did not carry the potential of prison time.Engoron issued his decision after a 2½-month trial that Trump turned into a frequent, albeit unorthodox campaign stage. He trekked to court nearly a dozen times, watching testimony, grousing to news cameras outside the courtroom and bristling under oath that he was the victim of a rigged legal system.During the trial, Trump called Engoron “extremely hostile” and James “a political hack.” He also incurred $15,000 in fines for violating a gag order that the judge imposed after he made a disparaging and untrue social media post about a key court staffer. In a six-minute diatribe during closing arguments in January, Trump proclaimed “I am an innocent man” and called the case a “fraud on me.”Trump has boasted for years about his wealth, but James’ lawsuit alleged that his claims weren’t just harmless bragging but years of deceptive practices as he built the multinational collection of skyscrapers, golf courses and other properties that catapulted him to wealth, fame and the White House. The suit accused Trump and his co-defendants of routinely puffing up his financial statements to create an illusion his properties were more valuable than they really were. State lawyers said Trump exaggerated his wealth by as much as $3.6 billion one year.James brought the case under a New York law that authorizes her to investigate persistent fraud in business dealings. Trump incorporated the Trump Organization in New York in 1981.Even before the trial began, Engoron ruled that James had proven Trump’s financial statements were fraudulent. The judge ordered some of Trump’s companies removed from his control and dissolved. An appeals court put that decision on hold.In that earlier ruling, the judge found that, among other tricks, Trump’s financial statements had wrongly claimed his Trump Tower penthouse was nearly three times its actual size and overvalued his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, based on the idea that the property could be developed for residential use, even though he had surrendered rights to develop it for any uses but a club.Trump, one of 40 witnesses to testify at the trial, said his financial statements actually understated his net worth. Trump maintains that he is worth several billion dollars and testified last year that he had about $400 million in cash, in addition to properties and other investments.Reiterating his testimony, Trump said Friday, “There were no victims because the banks made a lot of money.”Trump and his lawyers have said outside accountants who helped prepare the statements should have flagged any discrepancies and have said the documents came with disclaimers that shielded him from liability. They also argued that some of the allegations were barred by the statute of limitations.Engoron decided the case because neither side sought a jury and state law doesn’t allow for juries for this type of lawsuit. The suit is one of many legal headaches for Trump as he campaigns for a return to the White House. He has been indicted four times in the last year — accused in Georgia and Washington, DC, of plotting to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden, in Florida of hoarding classified documents, and in Manhattan of falsifying business records related to hush money paid to porn actor Stormy Daniels on his behalf. On Thursday, a judge confirmed Trump’s hush-money trial will start March 25. A judge in Atlanta heard arguments Thursday and Friday on whether to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from his Georgia election interference case because she had a personal relationship with a special prosecutor she hired. Those criminal accusations haven’t appeared to undermine his march toward a rematch with Biden, but civil litigation has threatened him financially.Last month, a jury ordered Trump to pay $83.3 million to writer E. Jean Carroll for defaming her after she accused him in 2019 of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. That’s on top of the $5 million a jury awarded Carroll in a related trial last year.In 2022, the Trump Organization was convicted of tax fraud and fined $1.6 million in an unrelated criminal case for helping executives dodge taxes on extravagant perks such as Manhattan apartments and luxury cars.James, who campaigned for office as a Trump critic and watchdog, started scrutinizing his business practices in March 2019 after his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen testified to Congress that Trump exaggerated his wealth on financial statements provided to Deutsche Bank while trying to obtain financing to buy the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.James’ office previously sued Trump for misusing his own charitable foundation to further his political and business interests. Trump was ordered to pay $2 million to an array of charities as a fine and the charity, the Trump Foundation, was shut down.

LAURA INGRAHAM: Fani Willis thought this case would catapult her to political fame-Ingraham says the DA wanted to be seen as 'Fani the Trump Slayer'By Fox News Staff Fox News-ublished February 15, 2024 8:56pm EST

Laura: The Willis investigation was a political vendetta-Fox News host Laura Ingraham gives her take on Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ testimony on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’Fox News host Laura Ingraham unpacks the key moments from Fulton County DA Fani Willis' testimony on "The Ingraham Angle."LAURA INGRAHAM: Fani lines blurred. That's the focus of tonight's "Angle." Today, over several hours in an Atlanta courtroom, we saw why allowing a county D.A. to bring charges against a former U.S. president is absurd and destructive. Now, Fani Willis is a leftist who thought that this case would catapult her to political fame. Maybe even the Senate or governor's mansion because it would be Fani the Trump Slayer. And she was so full of herself, she thought no one would notice when she hired her married boyfriend as her lead Trump investigator. Now, just to refresh everyone on the timeline here: on New Year's Day 2021, Miss Willis started as Fulton County D.A. and then the next month, what 40 days later or so, February 10th, she opens the criminal investigation into the Trump election interference claim. And then months later, by November 1st, she hires her "friend" Nathan Wade as a very special prosecutor. And then the next day, he files for divorce from his wife. Now, of course, Willis and Wade didn't expect that his divorce proceeding would become an issue in the Trump case. But at today's hearing, Judge Scott McAfee was considering whether the affair between the two created a conflict of interest that should knock them both off the case. Today, Nathan Wade took the stand on the question of who paid for their pleasure trips. …Now we're supposed to believe that Fani Willis was carrying around just large amounts of cash. Of course, cash is not traceable. Now, when the D.A. unexpectedly appeared on the stand today, she did address this. Or tried to. …Fani Willis testimony in Trump Fulton County case-Four hundred or 4000? She answered 4000. Now, who carries around that kind of cash? Well, Fani does. Again, very convenient, because you need a paper trail, right? To show that Willis did repay Mr. Wade and that she wasn't getting a financial benefit from the lawyer that she hired to investigate Trump. Look as wild as today's testimony was, and I was riveted by it, long before we knew even who Nathan Wade was it was obvious that the election interference case brought by this Fulton County D.A. was tainted. By charging Trump and 17 associates under a state racketeering statute, Willis showed us who she really was: a rogue prosecutor on a political mission to disqualify the GOP's leading candidate from the 2024 campaign. Now even never-Trump legal experts have thrown water on Willis's case, questioning Trump's judgment, OK, that's one thing but portraying him with this state Rico statute as some type of mafia crime boss whose enterprise was subverting democracy, that is quite another. The Willis investigation was a political vendetta and it was a travesty from the get-go. There are plenty of lowlife radicals across the country who want Trump off the political scene, but they shouldn't have the power to prosecute and be paid by state taxpayers, or have any power to interfere with the 2024 presidential election, because that's election interference.

5 explosive moments from Fani Willis' heated testimony in Trump Fulton County case: 'If this happens again …'Testimony Thursday seemingly contradicted Willis' claims about her personal relationship with a special prosecutor-By Andrew Mark Miller Fox News-Published February 15, 2024 8:00pm EST

Sparks flew in a Fulton County, Georgia, courtroom Thursday afternoon when embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis took the stand to testify against allegations she had an "improper" affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, which could derail her case against former President Trump. At one point, Willis was asked by a Trump lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, in a heated moment if she had any "proof" that she reimbursed Wade for vacations because the payments were in cash."The testimony of one witness is enough to prove a fact," Willis responded. "Are you telling me I'm lying?""I'm asking if you have any proof," the lawyer responded. And Willis shot back, "The proof is what I just told you."JUDGE WARNS FANI WILLIS OVER OUTBURSTS IN HEATED TESTIMONY"Has Nathan Wade ever visited you at the place you laid your head?" Merchant asked Willis in another question related to the timeline of her relationship with Wade. "When?" an exasperated Willis responded."Has he ever visited you at the place you lay your head," the lawyer repeated.JUDGE IN TRUMP GEORGIA CASE SAYS DA FANI WILLIS’ ALLEGED ‘IMPROPER’ AFFAIR ‘COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFI CATION'"So let’s be clear because you lied," Willis said before picking up various piles of paper."Right here, you lied right here," Willis said, before shouting "No, no, no" when the lawyer interjected."It is a lie," Willis said while holding two piles of papers above her head. "It is a lie."At that point, a five-minute recess was called. The situation became so heated at one point the judge issued a warning to Willis."He never came there, OK. So, if you don't come someplace, you can't live there as well," Willis said, prompting a response from Judge Scott McAfee.FULTON COUNTY DA FANI WILLIS ACCUSED OF LYING ABOUT TIMING OF AFFAIR WITH TRUMP PROSECUTOR"I'm gonna have to caution this," McAfee said. "Listen to the questions as asked. If this happens again and again, I'm gonna have no choice but to strike your testimony."Willis took issue with being characterized as a hostile witness during another moment."I very much want to be here, so I’m not a hostile witness," Willis said. "I very much want to be here.""It’s not so much you’re a hostile witness, Ms. Willis. It would be an adverse witness," McAfee responded. "Your interests are opposed to Ms. Merchant’s.""Ms. Merchant's interests are, contrary to democracy, your Honor, not to mine," Willis responded."I had some contact with Mr. Wade in 2021, one of the reasons your allegations are so preposterous, or Miss Merchant's," Willis said during another moment before being interrupted by Trump lawyer Steve Sadow and asked a question for a second time about the timing of a meeting with Wade."I had very limited contact with him because Mr. Wade had a form of cancer that makes your allegation somewhat ridiculous," Willis said."I do appreciate the characterization," Sadow said."I’m not going to emasculate a black man," Willis responded. "Did you understand that? I don’t think we should discuss further.""You're confused," Willis said at another point in the trial. "You think I'm on trial? These people are on trial for trying to steal an election in 2020. I'm not on trial no matter how hard you try to put me on trial."Willis hired Wade in 2021 to help prosecute her sweeping racketeering case against Trump. Trump co-defendant Michael Roman alleged in court filings last month Willis should be disqualified from the case, claiming she financially benefited from hiring Wade because of their personal relationship. Wade took the stand earlier in the hearing. Craig Gillen, attorney for Trump co-defendant David Shafer, who also asked the court to disqualify Willis, questioned Wade earlier about Willis' repayments to him for vacations that were made in cash. The defense is trying to prove the existence and extent of any financial benefit to Willis from Wade from their relationship, which is the crux of their argument that Willis should be disqualified. Wade said he "doesn't recall" travel with Willis in 2021, the time he was hired by the DA's office, but does remember traveling with her in 2022 and 2023. He testified that his relationship with Willis started in March 2022, and their trips together began in 2022.Wade testified that Willis paid him back for her half of their shared trips.Wade also testified that he was not paid by Fulton County as much as the defense claims. In 2022 specifically, Fulton County paid roughly $300,000 to his law firm. But Wade said he received roughly $100,000 because the payments were dispersed among the three people who worked at the firm, all of whom had contracts with the Fulton County DA's office for various reasons. Wade's testimony contradicts earlier bombshell revelations from a former "good friend" of DA Willis who testified Thursday she has "no doubt" Willis and Wade had a "romantic" relationship starting in 2019, contradicting Willis’ prior statements to the court. The court adjourned around 5 p.m. Thursday, and Willis is expected back to continue testimony Friday.Fox News Digital's Brianna Herlihy and Matteo Cina contributed to this report.Andrew Mark Miller is a reporter at Fox News. Iran unveils new air defense weaponry amid rising regional tensions-Iranian news agency says two vehicle-mounted systems will ‘significantly’ boost capabilities-By Reuters Today, 2:19 pm-FEB 17,24

Iran unveiled new weaponry on Saturday, including what it said was the locally made Arman anti-ballistic missile system and the Azarakhsh low-altitude air defense system, the official IRNA news agency reported. The announcement came amid heightened tensions in the region, with Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militants carrying out a string of attacks on vessels linked to the US, UK and Israel in the Red Sea in a show of solidarity with the Gaza Strip. In response to the Houthi attacks, the US has targeted sites inside Yemen, as well as facilities of Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria. In turn, US military bases have been attacked in Syria and Iraq. Israel has also struck Iranian targets in Syria.Saturday’s unveiling ceremony of the two vehicle-mounted systems took place in the presence of Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani.“With the entry of new systems into the country’s defense network, the air defense capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran will increase significantly,” IRNA said.It said the Arman missile system “can simultaneously confront six targets at a distance of 120 to 180 kilometers,” while the Azarakhsh missile system “can identify and destroy targets… up to a range of 50 kilometers with four ready-to-fire missiles.”In June, Iran presented what officials described as its first domestically made hypersonic ballistic missile, named Fattah, with a range of 1,400 kilometers.

Says they could barely breathe in tunnels, feared suffocation-Freed hostage Aviva Siegel recounts Hamas’s sexual abuse, violence toward captives-Siegel, whose husband Keith is still captive in Gaza, says terrorists dressed young female hostages as ‘dolls,’ watched them bathe; world ‘missed lesson of the Holocaust’By ToI Staff Today, 4:43 pm-FEB 17,24

Aviva Siegel, who spent 51 days in Hamas captivity and has since campaigned indefatigably for the remaining hostages, spoke to Channel 12 in an interview broadcast Friday, in which she detailed the Palestinian terror group’s humiliation tactics and sexual violence.Siegel, 62, who was abducted along with her husband Keith from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza by Hamas terrorists on October 7, described the weaponization of sexual violence against female hostages, for whom Siegel has emerged as a fierce advocate since being released during a November truce.During Hamas’s brutal onslaught, terrorists broke into the Siegels’ Kfar Aza home, snatching the couple to Gaza in their own car. When marching the couple, the terrorists shoved Keith, breaking his ribs.Siegel said that among the thirteen locations she and her husband were held in was a tunnel so lacking in ventilation that they did not have enough energy to talk. They were left in the tunnels while their Hamas guards would take breaks above ground to breathe fresh air. After several days, the hostages asked their guards what they should do if they felt suffocation was imminent, and the guards told them to shout for help. Siegel recalled that at one point Keith yelled repeatedly to no avail. She also described how malnourished the hostages were, sometimes going for days without food or water, while their guards pretended not to understand the hostages’ pleas for sustenance.Siegel recalled hiding food and when another hostage told her that a piece of bread she had hidden would soon be covered in mold, Siegel replied, “don’t worry, I’ll eat it with the mold.”Siegel recounted how the terrorists would dress up the younger female hostages in tiny clothes, making them into “dolls — marionettes,” at whom the armed guards “just sat and stared.”One woman was given such tight-fitting clothes that she couldn’t bend her knee.Siegel said that when “three particularly young girls” took up the guards’ offer of a shower, the condition was that they would bathe together, with an open door and the terrorists watching.Siegel said that in another instance, a young female hostage was ordered at gunpoint to accompany a guard, who then pulled her by the hair, tossing her to the floor, as he and three other terrorists beat her with a stick.Keith Siegel, taken captive by Hamas terrorists from his home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023. (Courtesy)“They hit her entire body, and she didn’t say a word,” Siegel said. “When she returned and I asked ‘how did you not scream?’ she said, ‘I didn’t want to give them the satisfaction [of knowing] that they hurt me.'”Siegel said the guards were not shy about how much they enjoyed tormenting the hostages, frequently pointing guns at them and threatening to shoot before bursting into laughter. One time, when Keith spoke despite a guard demanding silence, a terrorist threatened him with a gun and dangled handcuffs in his face, “kind of in jest, but irritated,” Siegel said. “After that, Keith entered a dayslong depression. He barely communicated; we would cry covertly.”After 50 days, Hamas terrorists covered the Siegel couple’s eyes and took them to a new location, where they separated Keith from Aviva, who, unbeknownst to her, was slated to be released the following day.“[The Hamas guard] comes to my room, kneels, and says, ‘you, tomorrow, Israel,’ and I say, ‘no, no, no, no, no, Keith and me.’ He says to me, ‘you leave now. Israel, your name. Keith, tomorrow.” Siegel asked to see Keith, but the terrorist refused, at which point she pushed him aside and approached her husband.Choking back tears, Siegel recalled her last moments with Keith, who has still not been released.“I looked at him and told him that I need to go, and I hugged him, and that is how I left him,” she said.Due to the lack of oxygen, Siegel’s guards were afraid she would be unable to climb the stairs out of the tunnel where she was held, 40 meters underground.“I ran,” she recalled. On the ride home, Siegel noticed an elderly female hostage, Elma Avraham, who was in critical condition. Siegel massaged her continuously to keep her warm.“It’s possible that if you weren’t there this would not happen,” Avraham’s son Uri Ravitz later told Siegel at the hospital, referring to his mother’s recuperation. “So I feel like I also owe her life to you.”Siegel’s daughter Ilan told Channel 12 that when her mother was first released, the family was certain that their father would soon follow.Aviva said that at first, she saved stories from the captivity for her husband to tell, assuming his release was just around the corner.Upon her release, Siegel was relieved most of all to learn that her son Shai, who also lives in Kfar Aza, had survived the October 7 massacre. For her entire captivity, she had thought he was dead because he was not in the tunnel with her and the other Kfar Aza hostages.Recalling her grandmother’s silence about her experiences during the Holocaust, Siegel said that she had resolved not to be quiet about her ordeal. “People need to know,” she said.Asked if she considers herself a Holocaust survivor, Siegel replied, “I have definitely survived.”“The world really let me feel it stays silent, and I have a feeling that they have missed the history lesson of the Holocaust, in allowing something like this to happen,” she said. The interview was Siegel’s first on Israeli television since being freed. As a hostage, Siegel refused to hear about the October 7 atrocities, and in the immediate aftermath of her release, she remained silent about her ordeal, but she has since become vocal on behalf of the remaining hostages at public rallies, parliamentary hearings and other forums, speaking at length about the Hamas captors’ sexual violence. In a January 9 Knesset hearing, Siegel described how at one point in their captivity, a younger female hostage returned from using the bathroom and looked distraught. But when she attempted to give the girl a hug, a terrorist guarding them intercepted her and prevented the embrace.“I saw that she was withdrawn, quiet and not herself,” Siegel said. “And excuse my language, but this son of a bitch had touched her. And he didn’t even let me hug her after it happened. It’s terrible, simply terrible. I told her I was sorry.”On January 23, Siegel returned to the Knesset to address the newly established caucus on victims of sexual and gender violence in the war against Hamas.Aviva and Keith Siegel lived in Kfar Aza for four decades. Aviva, also known as Adrienne, was born in South Africa, and came to Israel at age 8. Keith is from the United States. They met in Kibbutz Gezer, where Keith, who works in pharmaceuticals, had come to volunteer, and Aviva, now a kindergarten teacher, was spending a year of pre-army community service. They have four children and five grandchildren. On October 7, thousands of gunmen led by the Palestinian terror group stormed Kfar Aza and other communities in southern Israel to kill nearly 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and take 253 hostages of all ages, while committing numerous atrocities and weaponizing sexual violence on a mass scale. Some 80 members of Kibbutz Kfar Aza were killed, and about 18 were taken hostage.Hamas’s shock assault triggered a war in Gaza that has seen some 50 percent of the Strip’s residences destroyed and led to the displacement of over a million people, many of whom face severe risk of starvation. According to the Gaza Strip’s Hamas-controlled health ministry, over 28,000 Palestinians have been killed in the hostilities. The figure, which cannot be independently verified, does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, of whom the Israeli military claims to have killed upward of 10,000.Sam Sokol contributed to this report.

UN: Gazans in Rafah reportedly moving toward central areas-Special forces searching Khan Younis hospital detain over 100 terror suspects, IDF says-Military denies Hamas claim troops targeted generators at Nasser hospital, says soldiers worked to repair malfunctioning machine, brought in replacement; rocket fire at Ashkelon-By Emanuel Fabian-FEB 17,24-and ToI Staff Today, 1:07 pm

The Israel Defense Forces said Saturday that special forces soldiers have arrested more than 100 terror suspects at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis as they continued to carry out searches of the medical center. The military said that forces from the Maglan and Egoz units have also killed several Hamas operatives on the outskirts of the hospital.IDF troops entered the Nasser Hospital building on Thursday after surrounding the hospital for a week, saying they had information that hostages had been held there and that some bodies of dead hostages may still be at the site. At least one released hostage has said that she and over two dozen other captives had been held inside the hospital. The soldiers have found mortars, grenades and other weaponry belonging to Hamas inside the medical facility, as well as medications with the names of hostages on them. The IDF on Friday denied claims that troops targeted generators at the hospital. Hamas had claimed several patients had died due to a lack of oxygen after power was cut off and the generators stopped following an IDF raid.“This morning, a report was received concerning the interruption of generator activity, resulting in the failure of electrical systems within the hospital. Contrary to the allegation, IDF troops did not target the generators. The troops were instructed to ensure the continuous functioning of the hospital,” the IDF said.“Despite the generator malfunction at the hospital, all vital systems continued to operate throughout the day based on the existing Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system in the hospital,” the IDF said. The IDF said that upon receiving reports of the generator malfunction at the hospital, troops worked to repair it, while the Navy’s Shayetet 13 commando unit brought in a replacement generator.“These actions were carried out in close coordination between the IDF and the hospital administration through officers of the Coordination and Liaison Administration for Gaza (CLA),” the IDF said. The IDF said it also brought food and water to Nasser Hospital, as well as coordinated with international aid organizations to supply fuel for the medical center.Meanwhile, the IDF continued its campaign throughout different parts of the Gaza Strip with widespread airstrikes and battles between troops and gunmen. As the fighting continued in Khan Younis, the IDF said Saturday that troops led by the 7th Armored Brigade raided several compounds, finding weapons including explosive devices, grenades and Kalashnikov rifles.Troops in the area also called in several air strikes on Hamas forces including three terrorists who were trying to launch rockets. In addition, a paratrooper force killed a terror cell in close-quarters combat, the IDF said. The IDF also said that there were also clashes in central Gaza where Nahal soldiers killed several operatives.Meanwhile, rocket warning sirens sounded in the Ashkelon area on Saturday morning, with the IDF saying one rocket fired from northern Gaza was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. The IDF said within half an hour of the attack, the Hamas terrorist behind the attack was struck and killed. The rocket had been fired from the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City. Within 30 minutes, the IDF said the Nahal Infantry Brigade and 215th Artillery Regiment identified the operative behind the attack, and called in an airstrike, killing him.The war broke out on October 7, when Hamas carried out a devastating attack on southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 253 hostages, while committing wholesale atrocities. In response, Israel launched a war with the aim of securing the release of the hostages and toppling Hamas from power in Gaza. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said Saturday that 28,858 people have been killed in the enclave since the start of the war, and a further 68,667 have been wounded. These figures cannot be independently verified and do not distinguish between Hamas members and civilians. They also include Palestinians killed as a consequence of terror groups’ own rocket misfires. The IDF says it has killed nearly 11,000 Hamas operatives in Gaza, in addition to some 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.The war has caused a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, with most of the population displaced and at risk of starvation.UN humanitarian officials said Friday that Palestinians in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah are reportedly moving out of that region toward central areas around Deir al-Balah as intensified Israeli airstrikes continued. An estimated 1.4 million Palestinians, more than half of Gaza’s population, have crammed into Rafah, most of them displaced by fighting elsewhere in the territory. Hundreds of thousands are living in sprawling tent camps.UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric described the reported movements toward Deir al-Balah, which is roughly 16 kilometers (10 miles) north of Rafah. He also described the lack of food in Rafah and elsewhere — especially in northern Gaza, the first target of the offensive, where large areas have been completely destroyed.“In Rafah, humanitarian conditions have become increasingly severe, with continued reports of people stopping aid trucks to take food,” he said. “Vulnerable segments of the population include children, the elderly and people with underlying health conditions are particularly susceptible to the risk of malnutrition.”Egypt, fearing that the crisis may lead Palestinians to seek refuge in the country via Gaza’s southern border, has begun building a wall to prevent that from happening, satellite images analyzed by The Associated Press showed. While Egypt has not publicly acknowledged the construction of the wall, the country has warned Israel against forcing the Palestinian population currently sheltering in the southern Gazan city of Rafah from crossing the border.Cairo officials did not respond to requests for comment Friday from the AP. The satellite images, taken Thursday by Maxar Technologies, show construction ongoing on the wall, which sits along the Sheikh Zuweid-Rafah Road some 3.5 kilometers (2 miles) west of the border with Gaza. The images show cranes, trucks and what appear to be precast concrete barriers being set up along the road.Agencies contributed to this report.

Zelensky warns of ‘artificial deficit’ of weapons after withdrawal from Avdiivka-As US House Republicans stonewall aid, Ukrainian president tells Munich summit arms shortage plays into Putin’s hands-By Geir Moulson and Kerstin Sopke Today, 3:21 pm-FEB 17,24

MUNICH, Germany (AP) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned allies Saturday that an “artificial deficit” of weapons for his country risks giving Russia breathing space, hours after his military chief said he was withdrawing troops from the eastern city of Avdiivka.Zelensky spoke to the Munich Security Conference, an annual gathering of security and foreign policy officials. Ukraine is back on the defensive against Russia in the nearly two-year-old war, hindered by low ammunition supplies and a shortage of personnel.“Ukrainians have proven that we can force Russia to retreat,” he said. “We can get our land back, and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin can lose, and this has already happened more than once on the battlefield.”“Our actions are limited only by the sufficiency and length of range of our strength,” he added, pointing to the situation in Avdiivka.Ukrainian commander Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi said early Saturday that he was withdrawing troops from the city, where outnumbered defenders battled a Russian assault for four months, to avoid encirclement and save soldiers’ lives.“Dear friends, unfortunately keeping Ukraine in the artificial deficit of weapons, particularly in deficit of artillery and long-range capabilities, allows Putin to adapt to the current intensity of the war,” Zelensky said. “The self-weakening of democracy over time undermines our joint results.”The president said that the troop withdrawal was “a correct decision” and emphasized the priority of saving Ukrainian soldiers’ lives. He suggested that Russia has achieved little, adding that it has been attacking Avdiivka “with all the power that they had” since October and lost thousands of soldiers — “that’s what Russia has achieved. It’s a depletion of their army.”“We’re just waiting for weapons that we’re short of,” he added, pointing to a lack of long-range weapons. “That’s why our weapon today is our soldiers, our people.”Zelensky on Friday went to Berlin and Paris, where he signed long-term bilateral security agreements with Germany and France, following a similar agreement with Britain last month.Ukraine’s European allies are appealing to the US Congress to approve a package that includes aid for Ukraine, $60 billion that would go largely to US defense entities to manufacture missiles, munitions and other military hardware for the battlefields in Ukraine. The package faces resistance from House Republicans.Zelensky said Saturday that the US “did a lot for us” and thanked Washington for bipartisan support. He said he planned to meet US senators in Munich on Saturday. They “have to understand [that] only in unity we can win [against] Russia,” he said.
Asked whether it would be a good idea to invite former US president and 2024 presidential hopeful Donald Trump to Kyiv, Zelensky replied: “I invited [him] publicly, but it depends on his wishes.”“If… he will come, I’m ready even to go with him to the front line,” he added.Zelensky argued that “among us, there is no one for whom the ongoing war in Europe does not pose a threat.”“Please do not ask Ukraine when the war will end,” he said. “Ask yourself why is Putin still able to continue it.”

Navalny’s team confirms Kremlin critic’s death, says his mother is searching for body-Spokesperson says Russian opposition leader was ‘murdered,’ but local morgue denies holding body; further arrests in Russia at memorials for anti-corruption activist-By Emma Burrows Today, 3:03 pm-FEB 17,24

AP — Alexei Navalny’s spokesperson confirmed Saturday that the Russian opposition leader had died at a remote Arctic penal colony and said he was “murdered,” but it is unclear where his body is.An official note handed to Navalny’s mother stated that he died at 2:17 p.m. local time Friday, Kira Yarmysh said. She added that an employee of the prison colony said that Navalny’s body was taken to the nearby city of Salekhard as part of a probe into his death. She demanded that his body be handed over to his family. When a lawyer and Navalny’s mother visited the morgue in Salekhard, it was closed, Navalny’s team said, writing on their Telegram channel. The lawyer called the morgue and was told that Navalny’s body was not there, his team said.“We demand that Alexey Navalny’s body be handed over to his family immediately,” Yarmysh wrote on X, previously Twitter. The cause and the circumstances of Navalny’s death Friday remain largely unclear.Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service reported that Navalny felt sick after a walk and became unconscious at the penal colony in the town of Kharp, in the Yamalo-Nenets region about 1,900 kilometers (1,181 miles) northeast of Moscow. An ambulance arrived, but he couldn’t be revived. The cause of death is still “being established,” it said.Maria Pevchikh, head of the board of Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, said that the opposition leader would “live on forever in millions of hearts.”“Navalny was murdered. We still don’t know how we’ll keep on living, but together, we’ll think of something,” she wrote on X.Arrests continued Saturday after more than 100 people were detained in various Russian cities Friday when they came to lay flowers in memory of Navalny at memorials to the victims of Soviet-era purges, according to OVD-Info, a group that monitors political repression in Russia. The tributes were removed overnight, but people continued trickling in with flowers on Saturday. In Moscow, a large group of people chanted “shame” as police dragged a screaming woman from the crowd, video shared on social media showed.More than 10 people were detained at a memorial in St. Petersburg, including a priest who came to conduct a service for Navalny there. In other cities across the country, police cordoned off some of the memorials and officers were taking pictures of those who came and writing down their personal data in a clear intimidation attempt.Navalny had been jailed since January 2021, when he returned to Moscow to face certain arrest after recuperating in Germany from nerve agent poisoning he blamed on the Kremlin. He was later convicted three times, saying each case was politically motivated, and received a sentence of 19 years for extremism. After the last verdict, Navalny said he understood he was “serving a life sentence, which is measured by the length of my life or the length of life of this regime.”The news of Navalny’s death comes less than a month before an election that will give Russian President Vladimir Putin another six years in power. It shows “that the sentence in Russia now for opposition is not merely imprisonment, but death,” said Nigel Gould-Davies, a former British ambassador to Belarus and senior fellow for Russia & Eurasia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.Hours after Navalny’s death was reported, his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, made a dramatic appearance at a security conference in Germany where many world leaders had gathered. She said she was unsure if she could believe the news from official Russian sources, “but if this is true, I want Putin and everyone around Putin, Putin’s friends, his government to know that they will bear responsibility for what they did to our country, to my family and to my husband.”US President Joe Biden said Washington doesn’t know exactly what happened, “but there is no doubt that the death of Navalny was a consequence of something Putin and his thugs did.”The Kremlin bristled at the outpouring of anger from world leaders, which Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said was “inadmissible and outrageous,” noting that medics haven’t issued their verdict on the cause of Navalny’s death.

California judge under investigation for alleged antisemitism, ethical violations-State agency charges Gregory Kreis on 19 counts, including calling deputy public defender ‘Jewboy;’ judge, who is running for reelection, slams ‘outright lies’By Olga R. Rodriguez Today, 8:37 am-FEB 17,24

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) — A Northern California judge is under investigation by a state agency for allegedly making antisemitic remarks when addressing a deputy public defender, failing to recuse himself from cases involving attorneys and other people he socialized with, sexually harassing women, and other ethical violations.Humboldt County Superior Court Judge Gregory Kreis was notified last week he is charged with 19 ethical violations going back to 2015.California’s Commission on Judicial Performance, which investigates complaints against members of the judicial branch, said in its notice of formal proceedings that Kreis is charged with “willful misconduct in office, conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice that brings the judicial office into disrepute, and improper action.”Kreis, who was appointed to the bench in 2017 by former Governor Jerry Brown, has until February 22 to respond to the commission. He was previously a Humboldt County public defender.Kreis said in a statement posted on social media last week that the allegations against him were “outright lies” and noted they come as he is seeking reelection. He is running in the March 5 primary for another 6-year term. His lawyer, James A. Murphy, said Friday the investigation stems from a lawsuit filed by Rory Kalin, a former Humboldt County deputy public defender, who alleged Kreis assaulted him by shoving him off a boat during a 2019 camping trip and repeatedly called him “Jewboy.” That lawsuit has since been settled.“There is no factual support for that allegation whatsoever,” Murphy said.It is among the allegations outlined by the Commission on Judicial Performance that are now under investigation. The commission also details allegations from the same boat trip that Kreis suggested Kalin be fired, mocked his appearance and pantomimed giving a lap dance to the wife of another public defender while intoxicated. The commission noted Kreis allegedly lied to the court’s presiding judge who was investigating rumors Kreis was having an affair with a court employee. Another count alleges he sexually harassed a female acquaintance during a social gathering and on a separate occasion, sneaked into a friend’s bedroom, exposed his genitals, and tried to wake her during a party at the woman’s home. Most of the commission’s charges stem from Kreis’s alleged failure to recuse himself from cases involving attorneys he had worked with or socialized with or people who were connected to his wife or he knew from social circles.Murphy said he will show Kreis made appropriate disclosures to “the parties and/or counsel to allow them to make the decision of whether they would seek his disqualification or not,” Murphy said.“I can tell you that we had witnesses who will contradict the allegations the Commission on Judicial Performance set forth in the notice of formal proceedings,” he added. The judge is also accused of using cocaine between 2013 and 2017, before becoming a judge, driving while holding an open alcoholic drink, making inappropriate comments on the bench, and improperly giving legal advice.

ICJ rejects South African request for urgent measures to limit Israeli action in Rafah-But top UN court notes Jerusalem remains bound to comply with existing measures — namely the need to protect civilians from harm and to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza-By Agencies and ToI Staff 16 February 2024, 11:33 pm

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — The UN’s top court on Friday rejected South Africa’s request to put more legal pressure on Israel to halt a threatened offensive against Hamas in the Gaza city of Rafah, saying it was “bound to comply with existing measures.”South Africa had requested urgent measures to safeguard Rafah amid Israeli plans for a campaign in the city, Hamas’s last bastion in the enclave.Pretoria has already filed a complaint against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, alleging that its assault on Gaza amounts to a breach of the Genocide Convention. The court has yet to rule on the underlying issue, but on January 26 it ordered Israel to ensure it took action to protect Palestinian civilians from further harm and to allow in humanitarian aid. It declined to grant South Africa’s central request to order Israel to halt its military campaign. The ICJ said in a Friday statement that the “perilous situation” in Rafah “demands immediate and effective implementation of the provisional measures indicated by the Court in its Order of 26 January 2024, which are applicable throughout the Gaza Strip, including in Rafah, and does not demand the indication of additional provisional measures.”The World Court added that Israel “remains bound to fully comply with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and with the said Order, including by ensuring the safety and security of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”South Africa announced Tuesday that it had lodged an “ urgent request ” with the International Court of Justice to consider whether Israel’s military operations targeting the southern Gaza city of Rafah breach provisional orders the court handed down last month in a case in which Pretoria alleged genocide in the Strip. On Thursday, Israel urged the court to reject what it called South Africa’s “highly peculiar and improper” request.Israel says it does all it can to spare civilians and is only targeting Hamas terrorists. It says Hamas’s tactic of embedding in civilian areas makes it difficult to avoid civilian casualties.Even so, the court last month ordered Israel to do all it can to prevent death and destruction in Gaza, but stopped short of ordering an end to the military offensive that has laid waste to the Palestinian enclave. On Thursday Israel assailed South Africa’s latest attempt to have the ICJ halt its campaign against Hamas, and accused Pretoria of abusing the Genocide Convention to protect the Islamist terrorist group. In a short document, Israel described Pretoria’s entire application as “unfounded in fact and law” and “morally repugnant.”Israel insisted that there had been no change in the situation in Gaza on the ground since the ICJ heard South Africa’s genocide allegations in January, and said that the “unprecedented military offensive in Rafah” of which Pretoria spoke “in fact has not happened.”Israel described South Africa’s claims of an “unprecedented military operation” in Rafah on February 11 to rescue two Israeli hostages — which Hamas said killed dozens of Palestinians — as an “outrageous distortion,” and asserted that it was Hamas that was demonstrating “contempt for the law” by failing to accede to the ICJ’s call for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages.Israel also pointed out that South Africa’s request for ICJ intervention, based on supposed concerns of impending genocide, actually cited comments by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “that make clear that any potential military operation is intended to target Hamas battalions in Rafah,” and noted that Netanyahu had himself spoken of the necessity of evacuating civilians from the city.“This announcement is in line with Israel’s enduring commitment under international humanitarian law to minimize harm to civilians, even as Hamas — in its utter contempt for life and for the law — continues its abhorrent strategy of seeking to maximize such civilian harm through its ongoing attacks against Israeli civilians and through its use of Palestinian civilians and civilian objects as shields in Gaza itself,” Israel insisted forcefully in its submission.Jerusalem said that South Africa’s use of Netanyahu’s statement that clearly emphasized Hamas was Israel’s target “exposes yet again an intention to abuse the Genocide Convention” and have the court “micro-manage” the conflict, the conduct of which is governed not by the Genocide Convention but by international humanitarian law over which the court has no jurisdiction in this war.“It is evidence of a renewed and cynical effort by South Africa to use provisional measures as a sword, rather than a shield, and to manipulate the Court to protect South Africa’s longtime ally Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization, from Israel’s inherent right and obligation to defend itself, in accordance with the law, from the terrorist assault it faces and to pursue the release of over 130 hostages,” declared Israel.Jeremy Sharon contributed to this report.

Riots at Rafah Crossing after Gaza teen trying to grab aid is shot dead by Hamas-Footage shows chaos at border with Egypt as family members of the victim said to start fires at the scene
By ToI Staff 16 February 2024, 10:50 pm-FEB 17,24

Riots took place near the Gaza Strip’s border crossing with Egypt Friday, reportedly after a Palestinian teen who tried to grab items from a humanitarian aid shipment was shot dead by Hamas police.Arabic media reported on the incident at the Rafah Crossing. The teen, identified as Muhammad al-Araja, was apparently one of a group of people who tried to nab the aid when he was shot dead. After the shooting, reports and footage indicated that many members of the victim’s large extended family began rioting at the crossing, setting fire to parts of the complex and clashing with authorities there.Nearly 1.5 million displaced Palestinians — more than half of Gaza’s population — are in Rafah, seeking shelter from the Israel-Hamas war in a sprawling makeshift encampment near the Egyptian border, and the humanitarian conditions there have been described as increasingly dire. The Defense Ministry’s liaison unit to the Palestinians chastised the United Nations on Thursday, alleging it was not keeping up with humanitarian aid operations in the Strip.Since the beginning of the war, aid groups have charged that they are not receiving enough supplies to meet the demands of Gazans in the embattled enclave. But the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) posted photos on X of what it said is “the content of 500 trucks of humanitarian aid on the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom, AFTER Israeli inspection, waiting to be picked up and distributed by UN organizations.“It is the 3rd day in a row that hundreds of trucks are not picked up. The UN needs to scale up their operations,” COGAT said.Israel has accused humanitarian actors of not doing enough to distribute aid since the beginning of the war. Particular criticism has been directed at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which stands accused of failing to visit hostages held by Hamas and provide them with adequate assistance.ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric said Thursday: “We are reaching the barriers of language in describing the humanitarian situation.”This is the content of 500 trucks of humanitarian aid on the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom, AFTER Israeli inspection, waiting to be picked up and distributed by @UN orgs.It is the 3rd day in a row that hundreds of trucks are not picked up. 15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

DANIEL 8:23-25
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king (EU DICTATOR) of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences,(FROM THE OCCULT) shall stand up.
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power:(SATANS POWER) and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;(JESUS) but he shall be broken without hand.DANIEL 11:36-40
36 And the king shall do according to his will;(EU PRESIDENT) and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers,(THIS EU DICTATOR IS A EUROPEAN JEW) nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:(HES A MILITARY GINIUS) and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds (CONTROL HEZBOLLAH,AL-QUAIDA MURDERERS ETC) with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many,(HIS ARMY LEADERS) and shall divide the land for gain.
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south(EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR PROTECTING ISRAELS SECURITY) and the king of the north(RUSSIA) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.(1/2-3 BILLION DIE IN WW3)

Recognizing Palestine ‘not a taboo for France,’ says Macron-Russia offers to host ‘inter-Palestinian’ talks as international community continues to tout need for movement toward Palestinian statehood, despite Jerusalem’s protests-By AFP and ToI Staff 16 February 2024, 11:12 pm

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that recognizing a Palestinian state was “not a taboo for France,” as Russia invited Hamas and other Palestinian factions to Moscow for “inter-Palestinian” talks on the war in Gaza. Both statements come on the heels of The Washington Post’s Wednesday report claiming an upcoming announcement by the United States and its Arab allies of a blueprint for Palestinian statehood, though the timing is largely dependent on Israel and Hamas being able to reach a deal pausing the fighting in Gaza.According to the Post, those behind the plan, including Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Palestinian representatives, as well as the United States, fear that an Israeli ground offensive in Rafah will derail the potential for a peace process. The Washington Post report elicited condemnation from several members of Israel’s government, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said in a statement Friday that “Israel will continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state,” adding that “such recognition in the wake of the October 7 massacre would give a huge reward to unprecedented terrorism and prevent any future peace settlement.”On October 7, thousands of Hamas-led terrorists stormed southern Israel to kill nearly 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and take over 250 hostages of all ages. Israel’s ensuing Gaza Strip offensive has seen the displacement of over a million Palestinians from the Strip’s north and center, many of whom face severe risk of starvation.According to Gaza’s Hamas-controlled health ministry, over 28,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war thus far, though the figure, which cannot be independently verified, does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, of whom the Israeli military says it has killed over 10,000.Speaking at a joint press conference Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Macron made what AFP said were his first comments since the war began on the possibility that France would recognize a Palestinian state. He decried the large number of civilian casualties from Israel’s Gaza campaign, and joined other countries, including Germany and the US, in warning Israel against a planned offensive in Rafah, which is crammed with upward of a million Palestinian refugees.“I share the fears of Jordan and Egypt of mass forced displacement of the population,” Macron said of a Rafah offensive, adding that “it would be a new grave violation of international law and present a major risk of escalation for the region.”Netanyahu has vowed to proceed with the campaign, saying Rafah is Hamas’s “last bastion.” Macron on Wednesday told Netanyahu that the Gaza death toll was “intolerable” and Israel’s operations there “must cease,” his office said.He stressed that a ceasefire agreement should be reached “without further delay,” adding such a deal should “guarantee the protection of all civilians and the massive inflow of emergency aid.”Macron also said peace could only be achieved through the “creation of a Palestinian state.”Meanwhile, Russia has invited around a dozen Palestinian groups to Moscow for “inter-Palestinian” talks from February 29, the state-run TASS news agency reported, citing Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.“We invited all Palestinian representatives — all political forces that have their positions in different countries, including Syria, Lebanon and other countries in the region,” said Bogdanov, who is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for the Middle East. They include Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, alongside representatives of Fatah and the broader Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).Moscow, which for years tried to court good relations with all major players in the region, has grown increasingly critical of Israel and its Western backers amid the ongoing war in Gaza and its own war in Ukraine.Putin has called for a ceasefire and Moscow has repeatedly criticized Israel’s conduct in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack. The public statements, combined with Russia’s partnerships with Iran and Hamas and Israel’s support for Kyiv, have soured Russian-Israeli relations.

Israel reportedly behind rare pair of recent strikes on Iran civilian infrastructure-Iranian oil minister insists disruption caused by attacks on gas pipelines was minor, but NYT report says the blasts caused major outages across five provinces-By ToI Staff Today, 3:33 am-FEB 17,24

Israel was behind a pair of attacks on major gas pipelines inside Iran this week, which disrupted the flow of gas to millions of people, The New York Times reported Friday, citing two Western officials and a military strategist affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. If confirmed, the strike would amount to an escalation by Israel, which has been linked to numerous strikes in Iran over the years, but primarily against the country’s nuclear program, as well as assassinations of senior figures.“The enemy’s plan was to completely disrupt the flow of gas in winter to several main cities and provinces in our country,” Iran’s oil minister, Javad Owji, told Iranian media in comments on the “sabotage and terrorist attacks.”He avoided publicly blaming Israel for the blasts, which he said were aimed at damaging Iran’s energy infrastructure and stirring public upheaval.A Western official told NYT that the strike was largely symbolic, causing minimal harm and being easy to repair, but sent a message that Israel can cause significant damage.Owji also said the disruption caused by the blast was minor, but Iranian governors and officials at the state gas company reported widespread outages across five provinces that led to the closure of some government buildings. The natural gas pipeline that was targeted runs from Iran’s western Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province up north to cities on the Caspian Sea. The roughly 1,270-kilometer (790-mile) pipeline begins in Asaluyeh, a hub for Iran’s offshore South Pars gas field. There are no known insurgent groups operating in that province, home to the Bakhtiari, a branch of Iran’s Lur ethnic group. The two Western officials said Israel was also behind another blast Thursday inside a chemical factory on the outskirts of Tehran. However, local officials quoted by the Times said the explosion was due to an accident in the factory’s fuel tank. There has been no comment from Israel on the blasts, which came amid the ongoing war in Gaza triggered by the Hamas-led October 7 onslaught in which Palestinian terrorists killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took 253 hostages.Iranian leaders have denied Tehran was behind the Hamas attack but have praised the massacres and boasted of Iran’s support for the Gaza-ruling terror group and other armed proxy organizations opposed to Israel that it backs. The US also has said Iran was not directly responsible for the onslaught but that it continues to fund, arm and train proxies who have been targeting the Jewish state. There have been worries of a wider regional conflict since the Hamas atrocities and Israel’s subsequent offensive aimed at eliminating the terror group in Gaza and returning the hostages, with Lebanon’s Hezbollah launching daily attacks on northern Israel, the Houthi rebels in Yemen striking shipping in the Red Sea and Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and Syria targeting US forces stationed in those countries.

Blinken: Israel has extraordinary opportunity, ‘virtually every Arab country’ wants ties-At the same time, US secretary of state tells Munich Security Conference, efforts for Palestinian statehood must advance too-By Reuters and ToI Staff Today, 6:34 pm-FEB 17,24

MUNICH, Germany – There is “an extraordinary opportunity” in the coming months for Israel to normalize ties with its Arab neighbors, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Saturday, while also emphasizing the need for the creation of a Palestinian state. The top US diplomat said there were genuine efforts led by Arab countries to revitalize the Palestinian Authority so it can be more effective in representing the Palestinians.“Virtually every Arab country now genuinely wants to integrate Israel into the region to normalize relations… to provide security commitments and assurances so that Israel can feel more safe,” Blinken said during a panel discussion at the annual Munich Security Conference.“And there’s also, I think, the imperative, that’s more urgent than ever, to proceed to a Palestinian state that also ensures the security of Israel,” he added. The Biden administration has been working to secure a landmark deal that will see normalization in ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel. The kingdom and other Arab countries are seeking steps toward the creation of a Palestinian state as part of the deal.Washington is also working to achieve a deal to secure the release of Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, when the terror group crossed the border into Israel and mounted the deadliest attack on the country in its history. The massacre saw 1,200 people killed, mostly civilians, and 253 taken hostage. The hostage deal and the humanitarian pause are seen as instrumental in helping advance conversations on a normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel, which had been frozen in the immediate aftermath of the attack, but have resumed in recent months.Talks on the rule of Gaza when the war ends, and how the Palestinian Authority – which exercises limited self-rule in some areas of the West Bank – needs to be reformed to potentially rule the densely populated enclave, as well as identifying a pathway for a Palestinian state, are all variables in the same equation, according to US officials. While some international actors believe the violence only underlines the need for a peace deal, Israeli leaders argue the attack highlighted the extreme danger of an autonomous Palestinian entity near its population centers. And amid soaring support for Hamas among Palestinians in the wake of the atrocities, there appears to be little appetite in the Israeli public for peace efforts.Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have spoken publicly against creating a Palestinian state in the wake of the current war in Gaza.In the wake of a Washington Post report that the US and Arab allies are preparing to present a plan that includes a firm timeline for a Palestinian state, Israel said that it was not the time to be discussing plans for the “day after” Hamas.“Here in Israel, we are still in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre,” said Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Avi Hyman in a briefing. “Now is not the time to be speaking about gifts for the Palestinian people, at a time when the Palestinian Authority themselves have yet to even condemn the October 7 massacre.”Following a recent phone call with US President Joe Biden on the topic, Netanyahu said that “Israel categorically rejects international dictates regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. Such an arrangement will be reached only through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions.”The prime minister added: “Israel will continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7 massacre would give a huge reward to unprecedented terrorism and prevent any future peace settlement.”

Five small red cows that rocked the world-Bishop Jerry L. Bowers-Opinion-February 15, 2024

Prophecy of the Tenth Red Heifer.According to the Mishnah, the written version of the Jew’s oral teachings, the red heifer sacrifice has only been performed nine times in the history of the Jewish people to provide ashes for consecration. The ashes from the red heifer are needed to dedicate the Third Temple. The red heifer must be without a spot or a blemish (Numbers 19:1-2, 10). There is a prophecy in the Mishnah stating that when the “tenth red heifer” appears, it is a sign that the temple will be restored, and the Messiah will finally come. In September of 2022, five unblemished red heifers were delivered to Israel from Texas donated by a Christian Texas rancher. For two thousand years, the Jewish people have waited and searched for an unblemished red heifer. Now, suddenly, five are offered up by a Chrisitan rancher. God is moving on behalf of His people Israel in these last days to fulfill prophecy, to let His people, and the world, know that His words concerning Israel will be fulfilled. He will have His witnesses for His prophetic word that will declare, “The King is going before His people.” (Micah 2:13). He will break out and come up before them so they can pass through the gate into their inheritance. The red heifer in its new home at the Ancient Shiloh heritage site. Credit: Binyamin Regional Council.Return of the Third Temple.Temple Mount Compound-At this time in the Middle East, the Temple Mount is in dispute with Arabs, fearing they may lose control over it. A Hezbollah spokesman stated the reason that they started this war is because Israel brought five red heifers to Israel to build the temple on Temple Mount. The October 7th attack in 2023 was named “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” by Hamas. They are stating they brought this fight to defend their claim of the temple mount. The Al-Aqsa Mosque sits atop the Temple Mount. It is considered the third holiest site to Muslims and was built in the 8th Century AD. When the Jews won the 1967 war and took over Jerusalem, an arrangement was made with Jordan to oversee and protect this mosque and the compound. The Jordanian Waqf is the organization appointed to this task. The Temple Mount holds great importance to Jews and Christians. It is the third holiest site in Islam. The Jews believed King Solomon built the first temple on this site three thousand years ago. They believe the Romans destroyed the 2nd Temple at this location in 70 AD. It is important to Christians because of prophecy and its association with events in the life of Christ. Prophecies concerning the rebuilding of the Third Temple. There are prophecies for Israel that are now in the process of fulfillment. A number of them have to do with the return of the scattered tribes of Israel such as in Ezekiel 36:24.“I will gather you from among the nations, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.” As the tribes are returning to Israel, Hashem has spoken by His prophets that He will rebuild the temple, “I will set up My sanctuary in the midst of them.” (Ezekiel 37:26-28). The rebuilding of the Third Temple is to be a witness to the world that God is in the midst of His people Israel and is consecrating them for His glory when they have returned to the land of Israel after being scattered in the nations:“Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. It shall come to pass afterward that I shall  pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” (Joel 2:27). This promised temple will be built with help from the nations or “those from afar off.” (Zechariah 6:15).The rebuilding of the temple is closely linked to the restoration of Israel and the Messianic Era. It is the place from which the Messiah will rule. “Behold, the Man whose name is the Branch! From His place He shall branch out, And He shall build the temple of the Lord; And he shall sit and rule on His throne.” (Zech. 6:12-13). Other signs that the Third Temple is coming. The Restoration of Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem.During the 18th Century, the Vilna Gaon, a Jewish Sage, prophesied that the Hurva synagogue in Jerusalem would be destroyed twice, and the third time it was rebuilt would be a sign that the Third Jewish Temple was to be rebuilt. The Hurva synagogue was rebuilt and dedicated in March of 2010. Hurva Synagogue (courtesy: Shutterstock) Foxes appearing at the Temple Wall. The day before the 9th of Av in 2023, foxes were seen at the temple wall in Jerusalem. It had long been believed that the appearance of foxes at the temple would be a sign of the coming restoration of the Third Temple. This sighting was reported in the Jerusalem Post. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites, referred to the photos of the foxes and commented, “One cannot refrain from crying at the site of the fulfillment of the prophecy of foxes walking on it.” The Purpose of the Third Temple Concerning the Nations. The Temple is called a House of Prayer for all nations:“And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a ‘house of prayer’ for all nations.”  The Sovereign Lord declares — he who gathers the exiles of Israel: “I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered.”  (Isaiah 56: 6-8).God promises those foreigners who join this Third Temple House of Prayer a special place:“Those who choose what pleases me and hold fast to my covenant—to them I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will endure forever. And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord.”  (Isaiah 56:5-6). A model of the Jewish temple created by Conrad Schick in the 1870s. In the background is another model depicting temple mount as it looked at that time. Located in the basement of the Paulus-Haus hospice, across from Nablus gate, outside the old city of Jerusalem.God uses the word of the prophets to trigger, or set in motion, His Word on the earth. He reveals it first through His prophetic word. “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy?” (Amos 3:7-8).It is clear that God (Hashem) has set in motion, through the words of the prophets, the preparation for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. While there are obstructions to this rebuilding of the temple, it will surely come according to the Words of the Lord. Five small cows (heifers) that rocked the world. The appearance of these five small cows (heifers) has rocked the world in the sense that their appearance signals for us the fact that prophecy is being fulfilled for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. They are a witness to what is coming. The building of this Third Temple will impact the world. Hashem declares that its existence will let all mankind know He is in the midst of Israel and this revelation will rock the world:“Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. It shall come to pass afterward that I shall pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” (Joel 2:27). This revelation leads to a worldwide awakening to know the Lord, and the Sons of Jacob, who have returned to the land of Israel. In this sense, the signs of what the Lord is showing mankind at this time are beginning to rock the world. Even the enemies of Israel are reacting to these signs and believe they have meaning. The rockets, the violence, and the politics will not stop what Hashem is calling forth for the Third Temple. Hashem is setting in place His prophetic Word for the coming Messianic Era.

When Jews started to build the Third Temple-Sep 8, 2023, 12:11 AM

The backstory to this intriguing event presents itself as the survival manual for living in the diaspora. Ironically, the story as presented in our Parsha takes place in the land of Israel. Our forefather, Yitzchak, was forced to relocate to a hostile environment but nevertheless became immensely successful. The natives reacted with jealousy and aggression and Yitzchak was unceremoniously ordered by the king, Avimelech, to leave. The scene repeated itself and Yitzchak eventually ended up in Be’er Sheva. Avimelech suffered a severe malady and this, according to the Midrash, motivated him to visit Yitzchak (Midrash Rabbah Toldot: 64:9). The king correctly read the situation – that Yitzchak’s God was one to be reckoned with. However, he was not exactly contrite about the way he treated Yitzchak. Avimelech showed up with his top general seeking a non aggression pact. Although Avimelech acknowledged that Yitzchak’s blessings came from God, his treaty was a display of thuggery. According to the Midrash, Avimelech basically told Yitzchak that he was doing him a great favor by allowing him to leave alive (Ibid, 64:10). Sometimes you have to let go-The Midrash connects the bitter lesson learned in this confrontation between Yitzchak and Avimelech to a later time when the Jews had embarked on the building of the third Temple. Fast forward  about 2,000 years, not long after the destruction of the second temple. It’s interesting how the Midrash describes obtaining permission to build the third Temple. You might expect it to be a joyous occasion, however the Midrash says: ”the evil empire (the  Emperor Hadrian who ruled 117-138) decreed that the Temple shall be built.” ×’ָּ×–ְרָ×” מַלְכוּת ×”ָרְשָׁ×¢ָ×” שֶׁ×™ִּבָּ× ֶ×” בֵּית ×”ַמִּקְדָּשׁ (Ibid). No sooner had the construction started when a local sect known as the Kutim** conspired to have the work halted. They falsely reported to the Roman government that Jews were planning to rebel. The Kutim suggested that Hadrian issue an edict whereby the Emperor would mandate changing the final location and size of the new Temple. The Kutim knew that the Jews would never agree to this.  Indeed, when the Jews received the edict they cried and called for a rebellion. The Rabbis, knowing the disastrous outcome of a rebellion, had to convince the Jews to give up on building the Temple altogether. The Jews were guided by the wisdom of an extraordinary person – the great Rabbi Yehoshua ben Chananya רַבִּ×™ ×™ְהוֹשֻׁ×¢ַ בֶּן ×—ֲ× ַ× ְ×™ָ×”.  He was a student of the great Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakia and Rabbi Yehoshua was among those who helped smuggle his venerable teacher out of Jerusalem in a coffin, on the eve of the Temple’s destruction.*Rabbi Yehoshua presented the Jews with a powerful parable of a lion who had a bone stuck in his throat. The lion let it be known that any animal that could remove the bone from his throat would be richly rewarded. A certain bird with a long beak went into the lions jaw and extracted the bone. When the bird asked for its reward the lion said “you can tell your friends that you were in the jaw of a lion and got out alive- that’s reward enough.” Rabbi Yehshua’s message to the Jews was that they are basically in the very same situation as the bird. Rome rules the world and we cannot defeat them. We must accept our fate and feel lucky that Rome is allowing the Jews to live. They must give up on the idea of rebuilding the third temple (Ibid). The Midrash brought this story because it harkens back to Yitzchak who realized that Avimelech was a power that had to be reckoned with. He accepted the “non-aggression pact” which was the chance to leave unharmed. Surviving in the diaspora-I believe that this approach to not confronting authority became the guiding principle for the Jews in the diaspora. Don’t rock the boat, just try to survive. Perhaps this explains the stark contrast between the brave, fearless soldiers of the Maccabi’s and the passive posture that has defined our 2000 years in Exile. I would be remiss if I ended here and did not provide a glimpse of who Rabbi Yehoshua ben Chananya was.Rabbi Yehoshua defeats the wise men of Athens. To appreciate the greatness and brilliance Rabbi Yehoshua ben Chananya, I share a famous incident recorded in the Talmud – a  battle of wits between the sixty Greek sages and Rabbi Yehoshua in the form of a cryptic exchange of riddles. Although Rome defeated Greece there still existed a prestigious center of wisdom in Athens. Here is a part of that debate:“The Sages of Athens showed Rabbi Yehoshua two eggs, and asked him, “Which of these eggs came from a white hen and which from a black hen? In response, Rabbi Yehoshua presented them two pieces of cheese and asked, “Which of these cheeses is from the milk of a white goat, and which from the milk of a black goat” (Talmud Bechorot 8B)-This response silenced the Athenians. They were defeated. Several commentators try to unravel the exchange. Here is a beautiful explanation from a commentary to the Talmud, the Maharsha  (Shmuel Eliezer HaLevi Eidels: 1555 – 1631).The Greeks were trying to explain why the Jewish people were facing imminent extinction. It takes 21 days for a hen egg to hatch. This represents the somber days on our calendar known as the “three weeks” – 21 days between the fast days of the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av. Since this period represents darkness and gloom (with halachic restrictions, for example, on joyous public gatherings) it is symbolized by an egg that was laid by a black hen. On the other hand, the 21 days between Rosh Hashana and Hoshana Rabba are purifying and cleansing  – representing the egg laid by a white hen. The Wise men of Greece were saying that since both periods are 21 days, there is no difference between the eggs. The 21 days of joy have been canceled out by the 21 days of mourning. The Greeks believed that individual and national fortunes and misfortunes are totally random.  There is no such thing as good triumphing over evil. What’s more, the Greeks were intimating that after the destruction of the Temple there is no hope for Israel..***Even our black is white-Rabbi Yehoshua took out two pieces of cheese, one from a black goat, the other from a white goat. They too were indistinguishable. With this, he taught them something that even Greek wisdom could not fathom: the fundamental Jewish belief of hope after tragedy; rebirth after destruction.*** The two goats alluded to the goats that were used in the Temple on Yom Kippur. One of them was brought as an offering and the other goat was cast off a cliff. Metaphorically speaking, one goat is white and the other black. The white goat represents our forgiveness based on our special relationship with God. However, even the goat that was cast off the cliff did not represent blackness. It had a red string tied around it and a portion of that red string stayed behind so the Jewish people could witness it turning white and rejoice in the knowledge that God had forgiven us. Essentially, Rabbi Yehoshua was telling the Greeks that their assumptions about Judaism were based on huge misconceptions. It’s not black and white. They simply could not fathom the unique journey of the Jewish people – that even our black turns white.—*Talmud Gittem 56a-**The Kutim were transplanted to Israel by Sancherev when he exiled the 10 tribes. When lions attacked the Kutim they saw this as a sign that they should convert. However, it was not a whole-hearted conversion. In fact, they held up the construction of the second Temple using the same underhanded tactics of falsely claiming that the Jews were planning a rebellion.***A great synopsis can be found on the yeshiva.net. White Rainbow Spotted in North Israel: Sign of the Messiah? I have set My bow in the clouds, and it shall serve as a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.Genesis 9:13(the israel bible)
Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz-February 11, 2024

A white rainbow composed of mist was spotted in northern Israel on Friday by Nadav Yisraeli,  an ornithologist at the Society for the Protection of Nature,As the name suggests, this is phenomenon is very similar to the colorful rainbow we normally see but is formed in fog rather than rain. Because of the very small size of the water droplets in the fog – less than 0.05 millimeters – the colors in such a rainbow are very weak and you can see mainly the color white, with a little red on the outside and a little blue on the inside. In a normal rainbow, the water drops “break” the light into its colors, and each color is perceived at a slightly different angle. In a rainbow that appears in the fog, the water drops are small and close to each other so that the colors “mix” again and are perceived as white. This is also what happens normally in clouds which is why they are perceived as white. Many people, upon seeing the rare phenomenon, were reminded of a section in the Zohar (section 1, 72b) that differentiates between a dark-colored rainbow and a light-uncolored rainbow. The Zohar writes that a rainbow in dark colors reminds us that God made a covenant in the time of Noah promising not to bring a flood to the world. A colored rainbow should awaken us to repentance, that the gods of God’s covenant in the days of Noah we were bound by the law of the 16th century. But, according to the Zohar, a rainbow of bright colors or entirely white marks the imminent arrival of the Messiah. It is a reminder of the covenant of the Biblical patriarchs and God’s promise to return the people of Israel to the Land of Israel. When God does so, he will adorn the people of Israel with all the decorations of a bride.

Sanhedrin Calls on Israeli Government to Reject International Court of Justice-Then Hashem said to Moshe, “Gather for Me seventy of Yisrael's elders of whom you have experience as elders and officers of the people, and bring them to the Tent of Meeting and let them take their place there with you.Numbers 11:16 (the israel bible)-Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz-Jerusalem-February 4, 2024

The nascent Sanhedrin issued a ruling about the case brought by South Africa against Israel in the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide. In late December, Pretoria submitted an 84-page charge to the ICJ in which it formally accused Israel of genocide. The South African delegation also claimed that the very establishment of the State of Israel was tantamount to genocide. The ICJ is an international legal body that operates under the auspices of the United Nations. It has the right to adjudicate cases between states either with the explicit permission of the defendant state or by prior agreement in the form of an international agreement or by formal notification to the court. In this case, the basis for the trial is the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which was established in 1948 in response to the crimes of the Holocaust and was signed both by Israel and South Africa. According to the convention, the crime of genocide requires the intentional destruction “in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”Israel is the fifth country to face the charge of genocide in the ICJ.The nascent Sanhedrin issued a ruling last week concerning the ICJ ruling. “The Sanhedrin strongly urges the Israeli government to flee the court in The Hague as long for as long as it exists. The Sanhedrin asks the Israeli government to end the farcical testimony before the court in The Hague.(a) Morality should be based in the Torah, as the people of Israel received from God at Mount Sinai, and not from the court in The Hague.(b) Everyone knows who the judges are: countries that have violated many laws of honesty and justice towards their neighbors and their citizens. For example: China, Uganda, Somalia, Lebanon, and Russia. The judges themselves will be judged for their hypocrisy and for practicing discrimination.(c) The whole issue of resistance to genocide is an issue that Israel, in most of its wisdom, presented to the world as our personal experience from World War II. Of course, this did not prevent other genocides from taking place. It is absurd that this claim has been made against the State of Israel. (d) The war in Gaza is a response to October 7. How can it be that a court that claims to be justice discusses October 8 before October 7? (e) The court has not yet called on Israel to stop the war. This would be a reward to the terrorist organization Hamas-ISIS. Now that Israel has presented all its evidence, the ‘show’ is over, and the truth must be told: we have no trust, no connection, and no regard for this tribunal, nor its deliberations, nor its decisions.(f) If the tribunal has so much extra time that it can bring spurious claims against Israel, perhaps they can also deal with the Uyghurs in China, the Kurds in Turkey, the Yemenis among themselves, the Khuzestan province of Iran, and the chemical weapons used by Syria against its citizens. Insofar as the claims that Israel is carrying out genocide against the Arabs who live within its borders, our country is composed of 20% Muslims. Apparently, they are doing very well here.“As much as this trial is justice, we can learn from the Israeli representative at the court, Aharon Barak, that all his rulings when he was president of the Supreme Court tied the army’s hands from defending and protecting the Israeli people, and ultimately brought upon us the October 7th massacre.”“In conclusion: before the court unleashes all its anti-Semitism on us, the Israeli government must declare its non-recognition.”

50,000 Jews visit Temple Mount in 2023-I rejoiced when they said to me, “We are going to the House of Hashem.”Psalms 122:1 (The israel bible)-JNS-Jerusalem-January 2, 2024

During 2023, 50,098 Jews visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, down from 51,483 in 2022, according to data compiled by Beyadenu, an Israeli NGO dedicated to strengthening the Jewish connection to the holy site. Some 16,000 people ascended in the first four months of 5784, the Hebrew year that started on the evening of Sept. 15, the numbers showed.Despite Hamas’s attempts to incite violence at Judaism’s holiest site as part of its Oct. 7 terrorist attacks on Israel, 8,063 Jews ascended the Temple Mount in October, Beyadenu said. While the Israeli government has vowed to maintain “free access to all religions” on the Mount, discrimination against Jewish visitors has skyrocketed since National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir took office one year ago, Beyadenu CEO Tom Nisani charged on Sunday.“Until today, when we looked back, I didn’t know the numbers were so crazy. But this is what the police look like under Minister Ben-Gvir, and I will not hide reality. It’s unfortunate but it’s an undeniable fact,” Nisani wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).Three hundred seventeen Jewish visitors to the site were arrested or detained by the police this past year, up from 141 in 2022. Meanwhile, 85 Temple Mount visitors were banned by police order, a 63.5% increase.Under a status quo arrangement reached with Jordan in the wake of the Six-Day War of June 1967, Jews may visit the Temple Mount but not pray there. However, Israel’s Chief Rabbinate opposes visits to the Mount by Jews due to the concern that they may inadvertently set foot in an area that, according to Jewish law, is forbidden to enter unless one is ritually pure.On the other hand, prominent Religious Zionist rabbis have permitted—and even encouraged—Jews to visit the holy site. They argue that measurements taken after 1967 have determined the boundaries of the area Jews may enter following immersion in a ritual bath.According to a 2022 survey, most ultra-Orthodox Jews, nearly 87%, oppose Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount. Conversely, more than half of Jews who identify as either national religious or traditional religious support prayer on the Mount, as do nearly half of all “traditional non-religious,” who said Jewish prayer bolsters Israel’s sovereignty at the site.Conversely, more than half of Jews who identify as either national religious or traditional religious support prayer on the Mount, as do nearly half of all “traditional non-religious,” who said Jewish prayer bolsters Israel’s sovereignty at the site.
