BOOK OF RUTH

RUTH CHAPTERS 1 - 4

Ruth 1:1-22 King James Bible
1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
3 And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
7 Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
8 And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9 The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
11 And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12 Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.
14 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
16 And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
21 I went out full and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.

Ruth 2:1-23 King James Bible
1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4 And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been showed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
13 Then she said, Let me find favor in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
14 And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
15 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
16 And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17 So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18 And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
19 And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she showed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
20 And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
22 And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

Ruth 3:1-18 King James Bible
1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast showed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Ruth 4:1-22 King James Bible
1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:
4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbor: and this was a testimony in Israel.
8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.
9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:
12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.
13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
17 And the women her neighbors gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18 Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,
19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,
20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,
21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,
22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

Quebec digging out after snowstorm
Mon Mar 10, 1:25 PM

Schools were closed and bus service was reduced in Montreal on Monday as the province digs out after a massive storm that dumped nearly half a metre of snow on Central and Eastern Canada.School boards in Montreal extended March Break by one day for students, cancelling classes because of the difficult driving conditions.

Many streets are barely passable, with high snowbanks pinching access. While snow-clearing crews have been out in force since Sunday, progress is slow. The Montreal Transit Corp. extended rush hour service to 10 a.m. Monday, running more cars on subway lines because of reduced bus service due to road conditions, which were difficult, said spokeswoman Marianne Rouette. Some streets on which our buses pass usually [were] blocked. That translates into 50 reroutings so that added delays to the bus schedule. The MTC is encouraging people to take the subway and not the bus to reduce pressure on peak routes until some of the snow is carted away.Air travel at the Trudeau International Airport was still difficult after about 400 flights were grounded on the weekend.Several flights were delayed Monday as the airport tried to catch up on the backlog, which may take as long as two days, authorities said.

Train travel was also affected by the storm with Via Rail reporting delays of up to an hour along the Windsor-Quebec City corridor because of snow-covered tracks. Delays could be even longer for destinations east of Quebec City, the rail agency said.

Snowfall nears record

The storm dumped 30 centimetres on Montreal, between 40 and 50 cm in Central Quebec (Mauricie), between 35 and 40 cm in the Lanaudière region, and 37 cm in Quebec City, where this winter's snowfall is close to breaking the record set in 1966.The province's capital has received 450 cm of snow this winter, just shy of the record 458 cm that fell in 1965-1966.The storm brought snow, freezing rain and sleet to the Eastern Townships.Environment Canada said winds as high as 133 km/h roared through some areas during the peak of the storm, creating snowdrifts on highways and major roads.

The Montreal fire department is urging homeowners to clear snow from their roofs, or get someone to do it because too much accumulation could be dangerous. If we start getting freezing rain and we start getting rain, this snow will absorb a lot of weight and the roofs are not made to hold that much weight, said Montreal Fire Department chief of operations Aimé Charette.Snow days won't mean longer year, says English school board,Classes are cancelled at the following school boards and schools:
- English Montreal School Board (EMSB).
- Lester B. Pearson School Board.
- Commission scolaire de Montréal (schools are closed but daycares are open).
- Marguerite Bourgeoys School Board.
- Commission scolaire Pointe-de-l'ile.

Parents with students in private schools should check with their institutions to see whether classes are scheduled as usual Monday.
The EMSB said the harsh winter has caused some problems for teachers who are juggling lesson plans now that they've lost three regular school days to snowstorms. But it's unlikely the board will add extra days at the end of year because schools have a number of professional days they can use at their discretion, said EMSB spokesman Mike Cohen. If that doesn't work out, school boards can also appeal to the province for special dispensation and the government can just give permission for us to have less days of school, he said.

Torontonians warned of flood threat as snow begins to melt
Tue Mar 11, 12:40 PM

TORONTO (CBC) - As snow from a particularly harsh winter starts to melt across the city, there's concern about what may happen when it all turns to water. Ryan Ness, with the Toronto Conservation Authority, says it's too early to tell if it'll be anything more than small, localized flooding, but says people should be careful, especially since temperatures will rise to well above freezing toward the end of the week.Highs are forecast to reach 7 C on Thursday and Friday. It's completely dependent, unfortunately, on where the snow is and whether or not it will block catch basins. It could pond up if there are some catch basins blocked. There will certainly be some melting this week. The City of Toronto will no doubt be monitoring the situation closely.Ness says anybody noticing large pools of water on their street should report it to the city. Meanwhile, authorities in Lake Simcoe are concerned about flooding in the Holland Marsh area. The thaw in January significantly raised the water level in the lake. The upcoming melt is a concern since it could cause ice jams, which could lead to flooding.

Southern England mops up, as storm alert eases
Tue Mar 11, 9:17 AM

LONDON (AFP) - Parts of southern England mopped up Tuesday after a major storm triggered travel chaos and flash floods, as conditions eased, albeit with more high winds forecast further north. Some 2,400 homes remained without electricity along the south coast, which took the brunt of gale-force winds and driving rain which swept in from the Atlantic on Monday, also hitting northern France. We had teams out across the region again from early this morning to restore supplies as quickly and as safely as possible, said a spokesman for power firm EDF Energy Networks. On Monday the storm forced the cancellation of over 130 flights from London's Heathrow and other airports, while the main Channel port of Dover closed and three vessels ran into problems off the English and French coasts.

Amid winds of up to 80 miles per hour, sea defences were breached in a number of places, flooding homes and forcing residents and tourists to evacuate to higher ground. But in the first half of the day Tuesday there were few reports of problems. We haven't had any reports of disruption today to operations, said a spokeswoman for the British Airports Authority.Weather forecasters did however warn that more high winds were expected later in the day and possibly into Wednesday. There is still a risk of high waves and coastal flooding as a result of severe weather conditions, said the Environment Agency, which on Monday had issued seven severe flood warnings. The Met Office said it continues to forecast a swathe of severe westerly gales to affect parts of the UK on Tuesday night and through the first half of Wednesday.Predicting gusts of up to 75miles per hour, it said the strongest winds would be in Northern Ireland on Tuesday evening, moving into southern Scotland and northern England on Wednesday.Disruption to transport and power supplies is possible and there may be damage to buildings and trees, it added in a statement on its website.

Mozambique cyclone toll rises to 16
Tue Mar 11, 7:03 AM

MAPUTO (AFP) - A cyclone that has battered coastal areas of northern and central Mozambique has killed at least 16 people and hundreds more have been injured, rescue services said on Tuesday.
Joao Ribeiro, deputy director of the national disaster management institute (INGC), told AFP that six people were killed by Cyclone Jokwe between Saturday and Sunday in coastal districts of the Zambezia province.State radio, quoting Nampula governor Felismino Tocoli, said a further 10 had died in his northern province.

Speaking by telephone from the central city of Caia, Ribeiro said more than 10,000 houses had been destroyed by the tropical cyclone in Zambezia province which hit Mozambique last Saturday. He said the cyclone, which was now raging in the central part of the Mozambican Channel, was expected to hit coastal districts of Inhambane province, 800 kilometres (500 miles) from Maputo, early on Wednesday.Ribeiro said authorities had placed the tourism districts of Govuro and Vilankulo on yellow alert, and the INGC deployed extra staff to help. However, Ribeiro said no decision had been taken to evacuate people from the islands.Last year, 10 people were killed in February when Cyclone Favio hit the districts. A number of public buildings and tourist resorts were razed and some hotels and lodges remained closed until August.Emidio Machiana, a spokesman for the United Nations' children's fund (UNICEF), meanwhile told AFP that his organisation had sent teams to assess the situation of children in districts affected by the cyclone. He said 9,162 homes were completely destroyed by the cyclone in eight districts of Nampula while a further 2,620 were partially destroyed.

Major storm sparks travel chaos and damage in Britain, France Mon Mar 10, 11:43 PM

LONDON (AFP) - Heavy storms were expected to cause more travel chaos in Britain Tuesday, with France also preparing for more bad weather, after three vessels ran into problems in the Channel a day earlier.Five French fishermen were rescued from a trawler which sank late Monday in gale-force winds off the Channel island of Guernsey, maritime officials said, while a body was separately recovered off the coast of Brittany in northwest France, feared to be that of a man missing since Sunday.A woman also died in Normandy after she was hit by a branch. In Britain, more than a hundred flights were cancelled at airports including London's Heathrow and the port of Dover was temporarily closed due to the storms, described by experts as possibly the biggest of the winter that could cause hundreds of millions of pounds (euros/dollars) in damage.Amid gale-force winds of up to 80 miles (130 kilometres) per hour and driving rain, airports were among the worst hit with cancellations and delays brought on by precautionary measures taken by air traffic controllers.A spokesman for airports operator BAA said that 115 flights from Heathrow had been cancelled by Monday evening, but could not give details on the number of cancellations from London's Gatwick airport.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown had to cancel a planned meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico after his flight from Bratislava was cancelled due to the bad weather.Sweeping in from the Atlantic, the storm hit first in Cornwall and Devon in the southwest of the country, before moving east across England and Wales. There was widespread disruption on trains in southern England, including London where underground train services were also hit by flooding, while speed restrictions were imposed on trains because of heavy rain and high winds.About 30 people were rescued when a beachfront caravan park was flooded by seawater, which breached defences near Chichester, on the English south coast, a coastguard spokesman said.

Further west a Swedish tanker with 13 crew on board got into difficulties off the Isle of Wight, coastguards said. Two coastguard tugs were sent to help the stricken 11,000-tonne vessel, the Astral.Association of British Insurers Director of General Insurance and Health Nick Starling said that while it was too early to say how much the damage caused by the storms could cost, events like this can cost hundreds of millions of pounds. In France an 88-metre (290 foot) long cargo vessel, the Artemis, ran aground on a beach at Sables-d'Olonne, on the Atlantic coast, according to the local government office.Later in the day a French trawler, the Marie Louise Bert, sank: the vessel, based in Saint-Brieuc with five crew, went down 41 nautical miles west of Guernsey in winds of up to 110 kmh.All those on board were rescued by nearby vessels, according to the local French government office, after a French helicopter and a Channel Islands rescue airplane were dispatched to the scene.Meanwhile a body was found off the Brittany coast, feared to be that of a 26-year-old man missing since falling into the sea at Relecq-Kerhuon, near the port city of Brest. The distribution arm of energy group EDF also said in a statement that about 60,000 French households were without electricity on Monday because of the storms, with a company spokeswoman telling AFP that the situation could get worse as the evening progressed. At one point the wind was gusting up to 155 kph (87 mph), according to French weather experts.

We haven't had one this strong this year, said Emmanuel Bocri, a forecaster for Meteo France, adding: In general there are one or two of this strength each winter.

Gas prices rise to new national record By JOHN WILEN, AP Business Writer Tue Mar 11, 3:46 PM ET

NEW YORK - The cost of filling up the family car climbed to a record high Tuesday, adding to the challenges consumers already face with falling home values and rising food prices. Gas prices at the pump rose overnight to a record national average of $3.2272 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. That's a tad higher than the previous record of $3.2265, set last May.Soaring gas prices worsen the financial plight of consumers already suffering through a downturn in the housing market that has sharply reduced home prices in many markets and limited Americans' ability to tap home equity for spending. Food prices are also on the rise, partly due to rising fuel costs.I used to think three bucks a gallon was all I'd pay, but I keep filling up, said Joe Gowans while gassing his Acura SUV in San Francisco one recent afternoon. You have to use it.A year ago, rising demand and a string of refinery outages had raised concerns about supplies. Now, the record price of crude oil is the culprit, propelling gas higher although supplies are at 15-year highs. On Tuesday, light sweet crude for April delivery surged to a new trading record of $109.72 on the New York Mercantile Exchange before retreating after the Energy Department and International Energy Agency cut crude consumption forecasts for this year. Futures settled 85 cents higher at $108.75 a barrel, a new record.

Where gas and oil go from here is anybody's guess. Many analysts expect prices to moderate, while others predict oil could keep rising to $120 a barrel, or higher. And with demand for gas expected to rise as warm weather arrives, analysts say pump prices could spike as high as $3.75 a gallon, regardless of what happens with oil prices. The Energy Department on Tuesday raised its forecast of how high prices will rise this spring by a dime to $3.50a gallon.I've got to say, if they ever go up to $3.50, that would be the point where I'd feel angry, said Alex Magby, a Morrisville, Pa., resident who was filling up his tank near his New Jersey restaurant job one recent afternoon. I'd feel cheated at that point.
High prices are painful to New York cab drivers like Brandis Younge, who spends $35 to $40 on gas each day. Before it skyrocketed, I used to pay $25, Younge said.Still, because gas is so expensive, analysts expect demand for fuel will rise more slowly this spring and summer than in previous years. Nationwide demand for gasoline is off by about 1 percent over the last 6 weeks, a trend analysts expect to accelerate if prices keep rising. We don't go visit family as much, said Steve Bagosy, of Pocono, Pa., while gassing up a company car in Manhattan Tuesday. Just try to stay local.

The effect can be seen in states such as California, where prices are consistently 30 cents higher than the national average. Last November, the latest month for which data is available, demand for gasoline fell by 3.7 percent from the previous year in California as prices soared past $3.40 a gallon. It evokes a real reaction in demand destruction above $3.25 a gallon, said Tom Kloza, publisher and chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service in Wall, N.J.Prices have already passed the $4 mark at many stations nationwide. But Kloza thinks slower demand growth will prevent the national average from rising that high.High gas prices may actually help some companies that rely on tourism. Carl Wilgus, executive director of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, said the number of skiers visiting the Pennsylvania ski region this winter was up, despite gas prices holding steady above $3 for most of that time. In part, that's because many people plan vacations closer to home when fuel is so expensive, he said, giving up a trip to Florida in favor of a ski vacation an hour away, he said. We'll definitely lose some visitation, but hopefully we'll gain some from the folks who hope to stay closer to home, Wilgus said. The price of gassing a recreational vehicle may induce some to look for campgrounds closer to home this summer. At $3.50 a gallon, a 100-gallon Winnebago Destination RV will cost $350 to fill, $27 more than right now, and $96 more than a year ago.

Analysts believe oil's underlying supply and demand fundamentals do not support such high prices, and argue that crude's rise in recent months is mostly due to the falling dollar. Crude futures offer a hedge against a falling dollar, and oil futures bought and sold in dollars are more attractive to foreign investors when the dollar is weak. The Energy Department and IEA, an energy consultant to western, industrialized nations, raised more concerns about the economic slowdown's impact on oil consumption Tuesday when both forecasters cut U.S. demand growth forecasts, but said strong demand overseas will keep prices elevated this year. In other Nymex trading Tuesday, April heating oil futures rose 2.23 cents to settle at $2.9957 a gallon while April gasoline futures rose 1.12 cents to settle at $2.7261 a gallon. April natural gas futures fell 2.4 cents to settle at $10 per 1,000 cubic feet on the Nymex. In London, April Brent crude futures rose $1.09 to settle at $105.25 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange. AP Business Writers Tali Arbel in New York and Jordan Robertson in San Francisco contributed to this report.

HOARDING OF GOLD AND SILVER

DOCTOR DOCTORIAN FROM ANGEL OF GOD
then the angel said, Financial crisis will come to Asia. I will shake the world.

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Stocks boom on Fed's bank booster By JOE BEL BRUNO
Tue Mar 11, 7:54 PM ET

NEW YORK - The Fed promised a $200 billion booster shot for ailing markets — and Wall Street answered with its biggest bounce in more than five years. The Dow Jones industrials shot up more than 416 points, the biggest single-day point gain since July 2002, after the Federal Reserve announced the move as part of a worldwide effort to help struggling banks and mortgage providers.Hoping to ease the credit crisis, the Fed — acting with the European Central Bank, the Bank of Canada and the Swiss National Bank — agreed to loan investment banks money in exchange for debt, including slumping mortgage-backed securities. The idea is to create a market for assets that investors have recently been too scared to buy. That freeze in demand had sent asset values plunging and caused huge losses for some of the world's biggest banks. After a series of hefty losses in stocks, the market hopes the central banks' decision Tuesday might be more effective than previous moves — like rate cuts, which had led to initial stock pops that later fizzled.

It's not just a rate cut. I think it's a very creative way to do financing, said Anthony Conroy, managing director and head trader for BNY ConvergEx Group. It shows the Fed is willing to do things that are a little out-of-the-box to shore up credit issues. I really think they went to the heart of the issue.Investors certainly seemed to like it: The Dow rose 416.66, or 3.6 percent, to 12,156.81. It was the biggest point jump in the Dow since a 447-point rise on July 29, 2002, and its widest one-day percentage gain since March 2003.The Dow had lost more than 500 points in the past three sessions and is still down about 2,000 points from its October 2007 record high.Broader stock indicators also soared. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 47.28, or 3.7 percent, to 1,320.65, while the Nasdaq composite index surged 86.42, or about 4 percent, to 2,255.76.It was the S&P's biggest point gain since April 5, 2001, and the Nasdaq's biggest since May 8, 2002.The latest step by the central banks was seen as a direct lifeline to investment banks, which previously couldn't borrow beyond already established Fed liquidity plans.

The plan basically allows Wall Street's biggest institutions to put up troubled assets as collateral for loans, use the new capital to make money in the market, and then pay back the loan up to 28 days later.Though eventually banks would be forced to take the troubled mortgage-backed debt back on their books, the plan still takes short-term pressure off them. Many of these banks will release first-quarter earnings reports next week. The big problem has been the financials, and this helps supply money directly to the banks and may take some of the need for aggressive rate cutting off the table, said Peter Dunay, chief investment strategist at Meridian Equity Partners. The Fed is basically going to take the bad loans off the banks' books, and the market seems to be loving that idea.

The Fed may have avoided dramatically slashing interest rates again when it meets next week. Economists remain concerned about the unrelenting rise in oil prices and the dollar's weakness, which contribute to inflation — and cutting rates only adds to those pressures.Government bond prices fell as stocks rallied. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note, which moves opposite its price, spiked to 3.60 percent from 3.46 percent late Monday.Financial sector stocks, many of which have dipped to multiyear lows in recent days on liquidity concerns, led the market higher Tuesday.

Citigroup Inc. rose $1.42, or 7.2 percent, to $21.11, Washington Mutual Inc. rose $1.72, or 17 percent, to $11.76, and Bank of America Corp. rose $1.33, or 3.8 percent, to $36.64. Morgan Stanley rose $4.19, or 10.9 percent, to $42.49, Lehman Brothers rose $3.33, or 7.8 percent, to $46.31, and Merrill Lynch rose $2.76, or 6.4 percent, to $45.60. Bear Stearns Cos. rebounded from losses to rise 67 cents to $62.97, even after an analyst said the No. 5 U.S. investment bank might need to sell itself, or layoff more staff, to stay afloat. The cost to insure Bear Stearns bonds has been spiking to all-time highs. A spokesman for Bear Stearns didn't immediately return telephone calls. The Fed's announcement overshadowed a report from the Commerce Department that showed the United States' trade deficit grew larger in January. The latest snapshot of the economy showed that the trade gap increased to $58.2 billion — the highest since November. The primary reason behind the widening trade deficit is high oil prices. Crude rose as high as $109.72 in premarket trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange before ending at a new settlement record of $108.75. The weak dollar has contributed to oil's rally from $87 a barrel in January. Gold prices rose, while the dollar edged up against most other major currencies.

The only sector posting major losses Tuesday was health care, which has been strong in recent months. WellPoint Inc. fell after Goldman Sachs trimmed its ratings in the managed care sector to neutral from attractive. The investment bank singled out WellPoint's performance amid pricing pressures. The stock plunged $18.66, or 28 percent, to $47.26. Google Inc. shares spiked after European Union regulators cleared the Internet company's $3.1 billion bid for online ad tracker DoubleClick. Shares of Google rose $26.22, or 6.3 percent, to $439.84. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 29.84, or 4.63 percent, to 673.81. Advancing issues surpassed decliners by more than 5-to-1 on the New York Stock Exchange. Consolidated volume came to 5.17 billion shares, up sharply from 4.15 billion shares Monday. Stocks overseas rebounded. Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average rose 1.01 percent, while Hong Kong's market closed up 1.28 percent higher. Britain's FTSE-100 rose 1.7 percent, Germany was up 2.01 percent, and France added 1.61 percent. On the Net: New York Stock Exchange: http://www.nyse.com

ISAIAH 18:1-2
1 Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:
2 That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

JEREMIAH 50:11,37,12
11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;(BACKSLIDERS)
37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.(A NATION OF MINGLED PEOPLE)

13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.
7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

REVELATION 18:3,5,7

Cheney says US needs missile defense By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer MAR 12,08

WASHINGTON - Borrowing a theme from the presidential contest, Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday that the possibility of a 3 a.m. emergency call to the White House is all the more reason for the next commander in chief to follow through on President Bush's plans for a national missile defense. It's plain to see that the world around us gives ample reason to continue working on missile defense, Cheney told the conservative Heritage Foundation at a dinner recognizing the 25th anniversary of President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, a proposed network of rockets capable of shooting down incoming intercontinental ballistic missiles.Bush has set in motion a more modest version of Reagan's original plan.

In the ongoing political campaign, there's been discussion recently about 3 a.m. phone calls, Cheney said. We all hope that a commander in chief never has to pick up the line and be told that a ballistic missile is headed toward the United States. In such an instance, catastrophe would be minutes away.It was a reference to a television ad by Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton portraying her as the leader who voters want on the phone if a crisis occurs in the middle of the night, while your children are safe and asleep. Rival Barack Obama fired back with an ad of his own, suggesting that he — not she — would have superior judgment to deal with such a call.

The red phone ads have become a factor in the race for the Democratic nomination. In 1972, nine countries had ballistic missiles, Cheney said. Today, it is at least 27. And that includes hostile regimes that oppress their own people, seek to intimidate and dominate their neighbors and actively support terrorist groups.

In addition to potential threats from North Korea, Cheney emphasized what he said was a growing threat from both Iran and Syria.Tehran continues to develop technologies that could lead to its building an ICBM capable of striking the United States, perhaps as soon as late in the next decade, Cheney said. Given all that we do about the Iranian regime's hatred of America, its vow to destroy Israel and its ongoing efforts to develop the technology that could be used for a nuclear weapon, that is a danger every one of us must take seriously.Cheney embarks Sunday on a trip to the Middle East, with stops in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Turkey.

As for a national missile defense system, the vice president said, We're a lot further along than we would have been if Ronald Reagan hadn't set this in motion 25 years ago.President Reagan didn't live to see his vision fulfilled and he didn't expect to. But we're getting there, Cheney said.

Probe to sample Saturn moon's geysers By ALICIA CHANG, AP Science Writer Tue Mar 11, 11:02 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - Three years after gigantic geysers were spied on an icy Saturn moon, the international Cassini spacecraft is poised to plunge through the fringes of the mysterious plumes to learn how they formed. Wednesday's flyby will take Cassini within 30 miles of the surface of Enceladus at closest approach. The unmanned probe will be about 120 miles above the moon as it sweeps through the edge of the geysers and measures their chemical makeup. The carefully orchestrated event will take Cassini deeper than we've been before, mission scientist Carolyn Porco of the Space Science Institute said in an e-mail.Scientists long believed Enceladus, the shiniest object in the solar system, was cold and still because it resides hundreds of millions of miles from the sun. But recent evidence shows the Arizona-size satellite is geologically active, with a significant atmosphere and a relatively warm south pole.In 2005, Cassini surprised scientists when it snapped images of geyser-like eruptions of ice particles and water vapor spewing from the south pole. The dramatic images effectively put Enceladus (en-SELL-uh-duhs) on the short list of places within the solar system most likely to have conditions suitable for extraterrestrial life.

Scientists generally agree the presence of water, organic compounds and a stable heat source are needed to support primitive life.

Previous measurements by Cassini showed the eruptions were frequent, with gases and particles venting from the surface at about 800 mph and forming plumes hundreds of miles high. The source of the geysers is a mystery, but some theorize reservoirs of liquid water below the surface are likely supplying the ice and vapor seen in the plumes.Until now, scientists have not been able to measure the plumes' makeup in detail. Using its particle analyzers, Cassini will calculate the density, size and speed of the various gases and particles. The spacecraft's cameras will also image the moon during the flyby.Of particular interest is whether the plumes contain ammonia, which can keep water in liquid form and would bolster the theory that liquid water lies beneath. There's not much for us ... to do regarding the upcoming flyby except to hold our breaths and cross our fingers, John Spencer of the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo., wrote on the Cassini blog. The close encounter poses little danger to Cassini because the plume particles are small compared with the dust-size debris the spacecraft is used to flying through while orbiting Saturn, scientists said. The Cassini mission is a collaboration between NASA and the European and Italian space agencies. On the Net:Cassini mission: http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.cfm.

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.

2nd Muslim elected to Congress from Ind. By EMILY UDELL, Associated Press Writer MAR 12,2008

INDIANAPOLIS - The grandson of the late U.S. Rep. Julia Carson won a special election Tuesday to succeed her, keeping the seat in Democratic hands and becoming the second Muslim ever elected to Congress. Andre Carson had about 54 percent of the vote compared with about 43 percent for Republican Jon Elrod after all the votes were tallied. Carson finished with a 9,000-vote edge out of nearly 85,000 votes cast.Carson will represent a district that covers most of Indianapolis for the remainder of the year. In a primary in May, he'll seek to be the Democratic nominee for a full two-year term.

In his victory speech, Carson told more than 100 supporters gathered at a downtown Indianapolis hotel that he would have to hit the ground running. One of his top priorities, he said, would be ending the war in Iraq.We need to bring our men and women back home and end this useless war, Carson said.Elrod's campaign manager acknowledged that it appeared Carson had won. The result tonight doesn't change his resolve to bring change to Washington and move Indianapolis forward, Kyle Casting said.Mississippi was also choosing candidates Tuesday to fill two rare open congressional seats. One of those seats became vacant when Republican Roger Wicker was appointed to replace Sen. Trent Lott after his resignation. In Indiana, District 7 is predominantly Democratic and Carson had a large fundraising advantage over Elrod, along with more than $150,000 in spending by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Carson's behalf. But Carson also faced several obstacles including expected low voter turnout and potential backlash over complaints of political nepotism.Elrod had promoted himself as a moderate focused on fiscal reforms, such as eliminating most earmark funding for projects sought by members of Congress. He had also refused to join the other 48 Indiana House Republicans in backing a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages.

Both candidates are young and have little political experience.

Carson, 33, has been a member of Indianapolis City-County Council since August. Elrod, 30, is a first-term state representative who won election in 2006 by eight votes over a five-term Democratic incumbent. Libertarian candidate Sean Shepard finished with about 3 percent of the vote.Julia Carson, a Democrat who first won election to Congress in 1996 and died in December, was the first black to represent Indianapolis in Congress — from a district that is nearly two-thirds white.Carson, whose grandmother raised him in a Baptist church, converted to Islam more than a decade ago.Carson will join Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., as the only Muslims in Congress. His religious identity has drawn little attention during the campaign, and Carson said he doesn't believe it hurts him politically.

I'm a proud Hoosier, Carson said after his speech Tuesday night. I'm an Indy 500 Hoosier, I'm a Covered Bridge Festival Hoosier, I'm a Black Expo Hoosier, I'm a state fair Hoosier. I just happen to be a Hoosier of the Muslim faith. In Mississippi, Republicans and Democrats were choosing their candidates for two congressional seats.Mississippi's 3rd District is open for the first time in 12 years after Republican Rep. Chip Pickering decided not to seek a seventh term. The heavily Republican district stretches from Oktibbeha County in the north to Adams and Wilkinson counties in the southwest. Former state Sen. Charlie Ross and attorney Gregg Harper are heading for a runoff in the Republican primary. The winner will face Democrat Joel Gill. Democrats say they have a chance to claim north Mississippi's 1st District. The district leans Republican but could be a toss-up this fall. Prentiss County Chancery Clerk Travis Childers and state Rep. Steve Holland were headed for a runoff in the Democratic primary. On the GOP side, former Tennessee Valley Authority chairman Glenn McCullough and Southaven Mayor Greg Davis also were headed to a runoff. A runoff in the congressional races will be April 1. The general election is Nov. 4. Associated Press writers Charles Wilson in Indianapolis and Shelia Byrd in Jackson, Miss., contributed to this report.

EU foreign ministers concerned Russia to recognise Abkhazia
11.03.2008 - 09:19 CET | By Leigh Phillips

EU officials are concerned that Russia is ready to recognise Abkhazia, one of two Georgian breakaway provinces that up to now have not been accorded any official recognition by Russia or any other member of the international community. There is a growing preoccupation and anxiety that Russia may be paving the way for recognition of Abkhazia, EU external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner said on Monday (10 February) ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers. On Thursday (6 February), Russia lifted trade restrictions on Abkhazia. Following the recognition of the independence of Serbia's breakaway province, Kosovo, by many EU member states as well as the US and other countries, Russia has argued that the move sets a precedent, hinting that it may recognise the independence of South Caucasian irredentist governments such as those of Abkhazia or South Ossetia – both Georgian provinces.Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili swiftly responded, condemning Moscow's full restoration of trade with the breakaway province as a grave provocation.

Ms Ferrero-Waldner stressed the EU's support for Georgia and rejected Russia's linkage to Kosovo.Georgia's territorial integrity has always been clearly supported by the EU ... this is absolutely clear, she said.Later in the day, Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenian foreign affairs minister, said Georgia was a particular point of concern for European foreign ministers, as Russia and the Confederation of Independent States have decided to draw certain parallels with Kosovo.Mr Rupel, who chaired the ministerial meeting, said that the ministers were mostly concerned about Abkhazia rather than South Ossetia, but they had yet to take any decisions on the matter.

Ahead of the meeting, Sweden and Poland encouraged the EU to take a stronger stance in support of Georgia. Following Russia's lifting of sanctions last week, Abkhazia then called on Russia, the EU and the UN to recognise its independence. South Ossetia quickly followed suit, but Georgia seems most immediately worried about Abkhazia.Speaking to the EUobserver in Brussels on Friday (7 February), the speaker of the Georgian parliament, Nino Burjanadze, said Russia's announcement was really bad news for the South Caucasian republic. When Russia says they are saying they are stopping their economic embargo of Abkhazia, it means that they are going, step by step, in the direction of the annexation of this territory, she said. The message Russia is sending here is not only for Georgia, but also for Europe and NATO. This is to put obstacles on our path to NATO membership.Russia's priority number one is to prevent Georgia from joining NATO, she said. Until we are in the [EU and NATO] club, Russia will always hope that it can keep Georgia under Russian influence.Georgia is hoping that at its 2008 summit in Bucharest, NATO will allow the country participation in the membership action plan (MAP), a mechanism designed to aid countries prepare for future membership in the Western military alliance.

EU unity at stake over US visa-regime issue, Brussels warns
11.03.2008 - 09:19 CET | By Renata Goldirova

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The European Commission is stepping up pressure on those EU governments eager to sign up to a Washington-sponsored set of air security measures in exchange for visa-free travel to the US by saying no member state will be allowed to violate EU legislation. We will be negotiating with the United States, EU home affairs commissioner Franco Frattini said on Monday (10 March), adding: It is simply not possible to abandon, to renounce our EU legislation and our common criteria.Mr Frattini was speaking to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, with the commission today due to adopt a mandate to negotiate all visa-related issues that fall under EU powers on behalf of the 27-nation bloc. According to the commissioner, the mandate - which still needs to be cleared by EU interior ministers - should make it clear to the US what the EU's red lines are. We will be not prepared to move from that even by an inch, he said. But it is clear that several governments are reluctant to wait for Brussels to act in the area, while a clash over the precise wording of the mandate is also likely.

Estonia and Latvia have said they will sign a so-called memorandum of understanding with Washington, an agreement aimed at securing visa-free travel for their citizens to the United States, on Wednesday (12 March). The Czech Republic already did so in February, while Slovakia says it follow suit next month. Referring to the European Commission's proposed mandate, Slovak foreign minister Jan Kubis said that it was not satisfactory, adding: The mandate should not halt bilateral negotiations.According to one US official, cited by Reuters news agency, US law is very clear: Visa waiver is a bilateral issue, so we do intend to apply our law by continuing talks with individual countries.

MEPs divided

Mr Frattini, for his part, warned impatient EU capitals against breaking the bloc's unity over the issue. We should not allow ourselves be divided, Mr Frattini said, adding: I do not question the right of EU member states to engage in bilateral negotiations on issues that are national prerogative. But he noted that the commission believes: what the US is asking raises serious legal and political questions.A similar message came from some quarters in the European Parliament. We should not fall for the US divide and rule tactics ... and the US should act as a loyal and reliable ally and respect EU law, said Dutch liberal Sophia in't Veld.Ms in't Veld referred in particular to the exchange of air passenger data (PNR) between the 27-nation EU and the US. I don't understand why the PNR should be included [in a bilateral deal] if it is already covered by the EU-US agreement. The ink isn't even dry yet and not all the EU states have ratified, so what else is it that the US wants? Portuguese centre-right MEP Paolo Coelho called on the commission to use all its powers to freeze the bilataral talks.

However, Czech centre-right MEP Jan Zahradil pointed to the fact that the Czech-American memorandum took on board all the commission's reservations and does not breach EU law. Zita Plestinska, a centre-right Slovak, stressed that any progress toward visa-free regime with the US is very important for Slovak citizens, while any legal action against an individual member states on the mater would not a be a good signal, especially during the ongoing ratification of the EU's newest treaty.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;(JESUS) but he shall be broken without hand.

DANIEL 11:36-39
36 And the king (EU DICTATOR) shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers,(THIS EU DICTATOR IS JEWISH) nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.(CLAIM TO BE GOD)
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:(WAR) and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god,(DESTROY TERROR GROUPS) whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many,(HIS ARMY LEADERS) and shall divide the land for gain.

REVELATION 19:19
19 And I saw the beast,(EU LEADER) and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse,(JESUS) and against his army.(THE RAPTURED CHRISTIANS)

EU must boost military capabilities in face of climate change10.03.2008 - 17:41 CET | By Leigh Phillips

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The European Union should boost its civil and military capacities to respond to serious security risks resulting from catastrophic climate change expected this century, according to a joint report from the EU's two top foreign policy officials. The EU and member states should further build up their capabilities with regards to civil protection, and civil and military crisis management and disaster response instruments to react to the security risks posed by climate change, reads a paper by EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner.The seven-page paper, to be submitted to EU leaders at a summit in Brussels later this week, warns of a range of stark scenarios, in particular the threat of an intensified scramble for resources – both energy and mineral – in the Arctic as previously inaccessible regions open up.The rapid melting of the polar ice caps is seen as a great opportunity for far-northern economies, as the increased accessibility of the enormous hydrocarbon resources in the Arctic region mean new waterways and international trade routes open for business where once there was only ice.But this does not come without certain hazards. The report highlights the threat to Europe from Russia. The resulting new strategic interests are illustrated by the recent planting of the Russian flag under the North Pole.

Eco-migration

Additionally, the report suggests that Europe will come under increasing pressure from so-called eco-migration.Europe must expect substantially increased migratory pressure, says the report. Populations that already suffer from poor health conditions, unemployment or social exclusion are rendered more vulnerable to the effects of climate change, which could amplify or trigger migration within and between countries. The document notes that the UN has predicted that there will be millions of environmental migrants by 2020, and warns that the pressure will not only come from beyond Europe's borders, but that climate change is also likely to exacerbate internal migration with significant security consequences.Other worries include water shortages and the consequent food price increases that result from lower crop yields, all of which could lead to civil unrest, particularly in the Middle East. This in turn puts pressure on energy security. Significant decreases [in crop yields] are expected to hit Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia and thus affect stability in a vitally strategic region for Europe, predicts the report, while water supply in Israel might fall by 60 percent over this century. The document also warns of major changes to landmass leading to territorial disputes, political radicalisation in poorer regions of the world, and the effects that sea-level rises and increases in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters would have on port cities and oil refineries.

For the most part, however, much of the climate-change-based security risks mentioned in the report have been listed elsewhere. What is new is the proposal of the incorporation of risks resulting from climate change into European defence policy thinking. The report also proposes an intensification of the EU's research, monitoring and early warning capacity regarding climate-change-based security risks and an improvement of the bloc's early response capacity to disasters and conflicts. The two foreign policy chiefs would furthermore like to see a focus on climate security risks at the international level - in particular within the UN Security Council and the G8 – and within EU regional strategies such as the European Neighbourhood Policy, the EU-Africa Strategy and Middle East and Black Sea policies. Specifically, the pair say that there should be a development of regional security scenarios for the various possible levels of climate change envisaged.

But some are worried about the direction proposed in the document.

Some of these recommendations may well be sensible, but there's no way of knowing until they're fleshed out. The devil is in the detail. It's important to know what powers the EU will assume in the event, said Tony Bunyan, head of civil liberties group Statewatch. He referred to a nexus of powers that may at some point be assumed by either the EU or member states.

TERRORISTS REJOICE AT OBAMA VICTORY

My prediction will come to Pass if Obama Wins, the Muslims will think they have their man in the Whitehouse to decietfully destroy the states from within and without (TERRORIST ATTACKS).

WND NEWS ANALYSIS Author confirms: Terrorists
rejoice at Obama victory Says lawmaker correct policies
further goal of Islamic domination March 10, 2008 10:42 pm Eastern
By Aaron Klein 2008 WorldNetDaily

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, says terrorists will celebrate if Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama is elected, and he is on the mark.As a journalist and author who has conducted dozens of on-the-record interviews with Muslim terrorists, including with some of the most notorious Palestinian terror leaders, and who has documented many of those interviews in a recently released, 210-page book, Schmoozing with Terrorists, I share his belief.Terrorists worldwide indeed would be emboldened by an Obama election victory not so much because of the senator's middle name – Hussein – or because of his family background, but because terrorists know many of Obama's policies would translate into victory for the global jihad movement.

Obama has made clear he favors a swift American withdrawal from Iraq, direct dialogue with Iran – the largest state sponsor of terrorism – and a more evenhanded approach toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What do the terrorists think about these policies? Well, I recently asked them:Ramadan Adassi, leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades terror group in the West Bank's Anskar refugee camp, pointed to Obama's rise to stardom as an important success. He won popularity in spite of the Zionists and the conservatives.

Abu Hamed, leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip, explained Democrat candidates' anti-war positions prove that important leaders are understanding the situation differently and are understanding the price and the consequences of the American policy in Iraq and in the world.Muhammad Saadi, a senior leader of Islamic Jihad in the northern West Bank town of Jenin, said talk of withdrawal from Iraq makes him feel proud. As Arabs and Muslims we feel proud of this talk, he told me for my book. Very proud from the great successes of the Iraqi resistance. This success that brought the big superpower of the world to discuss a possible withdrawal.Abu Abdullah, a leader of Hamas' military wing in the Gaza Strip, was more direct: the policy of withdrawal, he stated, proves the strategy of the resistance is the right strategy against the occupation. What about dialogue with America's enemies, such as sit-downs with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that Obama has so fervently advocated?

Muhammad Abdel-Al, spokesman and a senior leader of the Popular Resistance Committees terror group, recently explained U.S. willingness to negotiate and initiate dialogue shows the Islamic resistance is bringing the giant [America] to its knees. It would be a great achievement complimented by more and more dead American soldiers they will carry in coffins to the U.S., said Abdel-Al.
These terrorists are not just spewing rhetoric. Obama's policies absolutely will further their goal of world domination.A lot of people think terrorism is about pieces of territory. That Iraqi insurgents just want an American retreat from Iraq and Afghanistan. That Hezbollah simply wants a piece of territory it claims belongs to Lebanon. That Hamas is fighting only to destroy Israel. What most people need to understand is that these are only the various Islamic terrorist group's short term goals. The singular overall objective of Islamic terrorism anywhere – and terrorists are boastful about this – is to spread their extremist belief system around the world.Rep. King also indicated terrorists would rejoice if Obama were elected due to the senator's ties to Islam and his middle name.

His middle name is the name of the grandson of Muhammad. It's used many, many times throughout the Muslim world and it associates itself with the religion and with the heritage and with the struggle and with some of the violence that's over there as well, King clarified in a radio interview. And so it isn't just one person who was a dictator in Iraq, it's a thread that goes through the entire Muslim world. While many terrorists commented to me they believe one day there will be a Muslim in the White House dictating sharia Islamic laws, I spoke with more than a few terrorists who were nervous about Obama's middle name. They explained they believe Obama would try to distance himself from Islam and from anti-Israel policies to prove he is not a Muslim. The terrorists instead focused largely on Obama's policies. The day will come when Islam will enter every house and will spread over the entire world, Hamas' Gaza leader and former foreign minister Mahmoud al-Zahar announced at a rally last year.Make no mistake about it, terrorists worldwide believe Obama's policies will bring this day closer.

NEW TEMPLE - SECOND COMING

Introduction
THE NEW TEMPLE AND THE SECOND COMING
By Grant Jeffrey Mar 11,08

Unmistakable Signs of the Last Days Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye:return, come.
—Isaiah 21:11-12

Almost two thousand years ago, after nearly two years of terrible seige, the brutally efficient legions of Rome destroyed Jerusalem and burned the Temple to the ground. Led by General Titus, the son of Emperor Vespasian, the Roman army completed its mission of destruction on the ninth day of Av (August) in A.D. 70.

The glorious temple, built by King Herod, was the second of the sacred temples to stand on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The First Temple had been built by King Solomon approximately 1000 B.C. and was destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 B.C.. The Second Temple that was built by the Jews who returned to Jerusalem following the Babylonian Captivity in 536 B.C. remains in ruins today. However, exciting developments are taking place in Israel that willresult in a Third Temple being built again on the ancient foundations that
Solomon put in place nearly three thousand years ago. You and I are part of the prophetic generation that will live to see a Temple of God once again stand in Jerusalem, the spiritual crossroads o the world.

The rebuilding of the Temple has profound prophetic significance equal to the appearance of the Antichrist or the forming of the pagan armies to invade Israel in the coming Battle of Gog and Magog. Many students of biblical prophecy have debated the role that will be played by the Third Temple in end-times developments. But the scriptures make it clear that just before Christ returns,
the Third Temple of God must stand once more on its original location on the Temple Mount.

Preparations to build the Third Temple have progressed on several fronts in recent years, with detailed plans and practical preparations that go far beyond the awareness of most people. This recent movement in Israel to rebuild the Temple signals that you and I are part of the generation that will see the return
of Christ. The Temple project is yet another major prophetic signpost on the timeline of the last days leading to the final conflict of the Battle of Armageddon and the establishment of the Kingdom of God. No less a prophet than Jesus Christ made it clear that the generation that witnessed the return of the Jews to their Promised Land would live to see Him return to earth. The modern state of Israel was born in 1948, which means that you and I are part of the last-days generation (see Matthew 24:30-32). However, the Temple must once again occupy its place on the Temple Mount before the final major prophecied events of the last days can take place.

Many scholars have questioned whether the Temple will ever be rebuilt because of the immense practical, religious, and political obstacles that stand in the way. Mosques, shrines, and other Muslim holy sites occupy the Temple Mount, a 35 acre site that is under the administrative control of Arab authorities. Since the Six Day War in 1967, Israel has controlled the entire city of Jerusalem including the Temple Mount. However, since the end of the 1967
Six Day War Israel has allowed the Supreme Muslim Religious Council (the Waqf) to control religious activities and to police (without firearms) all activities on the Temple Mount. This area is the location of the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa mosque. Religious Jews do not worship in the area of the Dome of the Rock because the chief rabbis warn they might inadvertently trespass on the site of the ancient Holy of Holies. Muslim control of the Temple Mount fulfills the prophecy of Luke 21:24 that Jerusalem shall be trodden
down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Beyond the political and religious tensions that stand in the way of rebuilding the Temple, there has been a longstanding and seemingly unsolvable dilemma from within Judaism. The Jews cannot rebuild the Temple or resume worship in the Temple unless the long-dormant Sanhedrin Court, the highest body of Jewish lawmakers, is reconvened. This is necessary in order to re-establish theLevitical priesthood. The Sanhedrin is the only religious body authorized to
reinstitute the ancient rituals, to determine the correct location of the Temple, and to authorize numerous other essential details of Temple ritual.

One of Jesus’ prophecies indicates that the Sanhedrin will be fulfilling its duties in the last days. Christ warned his disciples about the coming persecution in Jerusalem during the Tribulation under the world rule of the Antichrist. He warned the Jews that they should pray that their flight be not on the Sabbath(Matthew 24:20). This prophecy implies that the Sanhedrin, which has not
existed for fifteen centuries, will be reconvened in the generation when Israel is reborn.
Christ’s prophecy implies that the law restricting casual travel on a Sabbath (limited to only 1,000 paces) will be in force during the coming Tribulation. This religious restriction (see Exodus 21:8-10) interpreted the
prohibition of working on the Sabbath as implying that any travel of less than one thousand paces was casual allowed travel. The religious declaration referred to by Jesus that prevented a Jew from travelling more than one thousand paces required the existence of the Sanhedrin. Jesus thus implies that the Sanhedrin will exist in the last days and will have the authority to enforce such a rule. Interestingly, the Jewish historian Flavious Josephus noted that the distance from the summit of the Mount of Olives to the Temple Mount is approximately 1000 paces – a Sabbath’s Day Journey.

ISRAEL WITHOUT A TEMPLE

Six hundred fifty-six years passed between the destruction of Solomon’s Temple and the burning of the Second Temple, which also occurred on the 9th day of Av, A.D. 70. From that day on, the Temple was lost as the center of Israel’s spiritual life. During the nineteen centuries that followed the destruction of the Second Temple, Jews in exile prayed for their prophesied return to the Promised Land. Each year at the Feast of Passover they prayed
Next year in Jerusalem. Along with that hope, religious Jews have longed to rebuild the Temple and establish the long-promised Kingdom of God on earth under the rule of the Messiah. For centuries the Jews have prayed: May it be Thy will that the Temple bespeedily rebuilt in our days…Three times a day, devout Jews prayed this
ancient prayer for the rebuilding of the Temple. They looked forward to the day when a Temple would once again stand on the Temple Mount, and the Lord would return his Shekinah Presence to Jerusalem. Finally, after nineteen centuries of waiting, today’s generation has been given the task of making these dreams come true.

GOD’S COMMAND TO BUILD A SANCTUARY

The rebuilding of the Temple is central to the Messianic hopes of the Jewish people. And, as the rabbis have noted, God never rescinded his command to Israel to build a Sanctuary for him (see Exodus 25:8). His command still remains in force today.

The Lord showed Moses the precise pattern to follow in constructing his earthly Sanctuary, the Tabernacle, which would duplicate the sacred objects found in the heavenly sanctuary. The sacred vessels and worship instruments later used in Solomon’s Temple, including the Ark of the Covenant, were modeled directly by Moses’ craftsmen according to the pattern of the sacred objects in the eternal Temple in heaven (see Exodus 25:8-9). Likewise, God revealed to King David and his son Solomon the detailed plans for building a
Temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem.

Solomon’s Temple was destroyed, as was the Second Temple, built by King Herod. Yet Jesus mentioned the existence of a Temple when he spoke to his disciples about the events of the last days and the Great Tribulation. He warned that when ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (who so readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains (Matthew 24:15-16). Jesus’ prophecy echoed that of Daniel, who indicated that the
abomination of desolation will be fulfilled in a Temple of God standing in Jerusalem. Both prophecies suggest that the Third Temple will be built before the Antichrist comes to power and takes control of Europe and the Mediterranean.

Satan will defile the Holy Place of the Temple during the last three-and-onehalf years of the Tribulation. The False Prophet, the Antichrist’s partner, will then demand that the Antichrist be worshiped as god in the Temple.

CONTROVERSY OVER REBUILDING THE TEMPLE

Among the ongoing tragedies of the Middle East is that both Arabs and Jews claim the right of possession of the Holy Land, the city of Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount. In just about any current news report involving the conflict between Israel and her Arab enemies, the Old City of Jerusalem plays a prominent role. God told his prophets thousands of years ago that the final battle for the soul and destiny of mankind will be decided in Jerusalem, whose
name literally means city of peace, the city where the coming Messiah will have his throne.

You and I are part of the generation that will witness the climactic final struggle for the destiny of mankind. The forces of good and evil will wage war in the valley before the mount of Megiddo in northern Israel—the final Battle of Armageddon. Leading up to that battle, and central to the events that precede Armageddon, attention will focus not only on Jerusalem but more specifically on the Temple Mount. The Third Temple will be built on what is easily the most contested piece of real estate on earth. Not only is this prophesied in Scripture, but today rabbis,
researchers, archaeologists, and other interested parties in Isreal are drawing up detailed plans, recreating vessels used in Temple worship, and searching for lost treasures of the ancient Temple.

Incredible progress has been made in locating, gathering, and in some cases re-creating the necessary vessels, utensils, and other sacred objects that will be necessary to reinstitute woship
and sacrifice in the Third Temple. The Orthodox religious leadership in Israel has finally thrown its support behind the many efforts underway to prepare for the building of the Temple. The progress, extent, and timing of these preparations will be examined in later
chapters of this book.

CONTROL OF THE TEMPLE MOUNT

At the end of the Jewish victory over the Arab armies during the Six Day War in June 1967, Israeli Defense Minister General Moshe Dayan went to the Al-Aksa Mosque for a significant meeting with the five leaders of the Supreme Muslim Council. This council had held absolute control over the Temple Mount during nearly twenty years of Jordanian military control of Jerusalem from 1948 until the city was liberated by Israel’s Defense Forces in 1967. The meeting between Dayan and the Muslim leaders established Israel’s religious
and political policy concerning the Temple Mount, a policy that remains unchanged today. Dayan, a non-religious Jew, did not understand the significance of the Temple Mount, and thus relinquished administrative control to the Arabs in the vain hope that the generosity of this gesture would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the Arabs interpreted his surrender of the Jews’
most sacred site as an indication of the weakness of Israel’s resolve.Dayan ordered the Israeli flag removed from the Dome of the Rock. His further concessions surrendered administrative control of the Temple Mount to the Supreme Muslim Council, a Jordanian-controlled Muslim trust known as the Waqf. Though Jews would be permitted limited access to the Temple Mount area, all prayer or reading of Scripture by Jews and Christians was prohibited. Thus, Dayan rejected any public Jewish identification with the most sacred site of ancient Israel.

Tragically, for Dayan and many of the subsequent nonreligious political and military leaders of Israel, the Temple Mount held no spiritual and religious significance, only historical importance. In spite of such concessions, and even with Arabs continuing to exercise administrative control over the most sacred site in Israel, God has called on his people to rebuild the Temple. Not only is this critical development necessary to fulfill ancient prophecy, but it is necessary that God’s Temple be rebuilt before
the Messiah returns to earth. In this book we will look not only at the advancing plans and preparations to rebuild the Temple, but also at closely related developments, such as the training of Levite priests, the discovery of long-lost Temple treasures,
developments in locating the Ark of the Covenant and returning it to Jerusalem, and the discovery of ancient vessels and artifacts that are required for Temple sacrifice and worship. With a new Sanhedrin in place, with some five hundred Levites being trained in the requirements of Temple sacrifice, and with lost treasures from Solomon’s Temple being located and returned to Jerusalem, it is
no longer just a dream that God’s Temple will once again stand on the Temple Mount.

After nineteen centuries of praying, waiting, and dreaming that they would see the Temple rebuilt in Jerusalem, the Jews living in Israel today have finally been given the task of making these ancient dreams come true. The building of the Third Temple will commence much sooner than most people expect. The generation alive today will see a Temple of God once again standing on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, and the King of Israel—the returning Messiah—will
establish His Kingdom from the throne of David.

FOLLOWING EUROPE TOWARDS TYRANNY

WORLD GOVERNMENT

DANIEL 7:23-25
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

DANIEL 12:4,1
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

REVELATION 13:1-3,7,8,12,16-18
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

REVELATION 17:3,7,9-10,12,18
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

REBUILT 3RD TEMPLE (THE EU DICTATORS TEMPLE)

REVELATION 11:1-2
1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

DANIEL 9:27
27 And he( THE ROMAN,EU PRESIDENT) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:(1X7=7 YEARS) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,(3 1/2 yrs in TEMPLE SACRIFICES STOPPED) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Following Europe toward tyranny March 08, 2008
1:00 am Eastern 2008 WND

It doesn't happen quickly. It's been a half-century since the European Common Market was created to enhance cross-border trade in coal and steel among six European countries. The next 40 years saw the idea of cross-border harmonization expand into the European Community, with the 1992 Maastricht Treaty. With the signing of the Lisbon Treaty in December 2007, 27 European nations are on the verge of becoming one consolidated state. The North American Free Trade Agreement, which went into force in 1994, is supposed to function much the same as the European Common Market, by removing tariffs on goods traded among the member nations. The Security and Prosperity Partnership, launched in 2005, is building a North American Community. This process is designed to harmonize and integrate cross-border rules and regulations. Following the European blueprint, the next step is the creation of a North American Union. In Europe, what started as a simple agreement to enhance trade among six nations has grown into a full-blown treaty that will bring 27 former nations under the rule of a single, appointed government. In Europe, the process has been littered with objections and resistance. The one-government idea was first put to the people in the form of a new constitution, but when the people had an opportunity to vote, the idea was widely rejected. The new approach removes the people from the equation and now requires only that the parliaments of the various nations ratify the treaty.

American advocates of the one-government idea learned from the European experience. NAFTA, which is, in fact, a treaty, was not presented to Congress as a treaty. A treaty requires 67 Senate votes for ratification. An executive agreement requires only 51 Senate votes and a simple majority in the House of Representatives.
The Security and Prosperity Partnership was not even presented to Congress; it was not a signed agreement, but an executive partnership, which needed no congressional involvement. Congress has chosen not to challenge this executive authority. The new European Union will have its own parliament, its own president, its own court system and, of course, its own currency – the euro. A single high representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy will speak for the 27 member-states, instead of 27 foreign ministers. Some Europeans fear that this officer will replace both England's and France's ambassadors to the United Nations and to the U.N. Security Council. The Lisbon Treaty does not automatically transform the 27 member states into one nation, but it is a major step toward that goal. The North American Community, now under construction through the Security and Prosperity Partnership and similar efforts at the state level, will not automatically transform Mexico, Canada and the United States into MexiCanAmeri, or CanAmeriMex, or the North American Union. But it is a major step toward that goal. The plan to build a North American Community calls for annual summit meetings of the three nations. The next will be held in New Orleans in April. It calls for a common tariff, which NAFTA is supposed to do. It calls for a common approach to regulations, which the SPP working groups call harmonization and integration. It calls for a tri-national Advisory Council, and an Inter-Parliamentary Group – all of which is now under construction. The leaders of all three nations laugh and say these activities have nothing to do with a North American Union. The facts on the ground, however, make their denials laughable.

So-called free traders applaud NAFTA and point to jobs created by all the exports to Mexico and Canada. They never mention the jobs that have also been exported as the result of the trade deficit. When NAFTA went into force, the deficit with Mexico and Canada was $13 billion. It has grown steadily, and last year was $138.4 billion. NAFTA is the process by which U.S. wealth is redistributed to other nations. What's worse, the implementation of NAFTA, the SPP and the North American Community are devices that bypass elected representatives. NAFTA, approved by Congress on a promise of prosperity, has produced a constant drain on our prosperity. Neither the SPP nor the North American Community was even discussed in Congress. Both of these executive devices are moving our nation closer to the one-government concept pioneered by the European Union. The government we are moving toward is an administrative government, in which elected representatives become little more than a token to the form of government created by the U.S. Constitution. When any government is empowered to impose rules of behavior without the consent of the governed, freedom is the victim. When government is empowered – without the consent of the governed – to define what freedom may be exercised, the result is a dictatorship, whether by a Hitler, a supreme soviet, or an appointed Inter-Parliamentary Group.Where are the Americans who still believe that the best possible government is a government whose power is limited by the consent of the governed? They are certainly not in a Congress that allows NAFTA, the SPP and the North American Community to continue.

JERUSALEM DIVIDED

ZECHARIAH 12:1-5 King James Bible
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

JOEL 3:2
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

ZECHARIAH 14:1-9 King James Bible
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Israel actually OK with Muslims destroying its history?
Islamic trust uses large stones to cover area that might house Second Temple-wall March 09, 2008 5:08 pm Eastern By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – Did the Israeli police allow the Muslim custodians of the Temple Mount – Judaism's holiest site – to carry out illegal construction on the Mount last week that may have damaged antiquities and make it more difficult for archaeologists to find temple artifacts? That's the question being asked by Temple Mount activists and archaeologists here after it was discovered the Waqf, the Mount's Islamic custodians, last week used a heavy tractor to lay massive stone tiles over an area of the Mount some archaeologists believe a Second Temple wall was recently discovered.Pictures of the purported wall surfaced after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert last summer gave the Waqf permission to use tractors to dig a 1300-foot trench around the periphery of the Mount. The Waqf claimed the trench was necessary to replace electrical cables outside mosques on the site.Possible carved stone from Jewish Temple era exposed by digging at Temple Mount in Jerusalem Allowing the use of bulldozers at any sensitive archaeological site is extremely unusual, particularly at the Temple Mount, which experts say contains sealed layers of artifacts as shallow as two to three feet below the surface. The Mount has never been properly excavated. Heavy equipment could easily damage any existing artifacts, stress Israeli experts, who assert the area should be excavated slowly and carefully by hand.

This week, the Jerusalem police reportedly stopped Waqf workers from continuing what Jerusalem police chief Aharon Franco described to the Jerusalem Post as unauthorized surfacing work.It is our duty to ensure that the status quo is maintained on the Temple Mount, Franco said. The surfacing work involved the Waqf using a tractor to raise the ground on the northern side of the Temple Mount, according to witnesses speaking to WND. Workers then laid stones that were about 9 inches thick along a large area in the north near where some Israeli archaeologists believe a Second Temple wall was found during this summer's Waqf construction. The stones change the status quo in the area by covering the ground with a think layer, thus making excavations less likely, Temple activists charged. The Palestinian Authority's Waqf director Jerusalem Affairs Minister Adnan Husseini labeled the construction as restoration work of deteriorated tiles. They are not digging or doing anything there but restoration, Husseini said. The police on Thursday stopped the Waqf work, which was taking place during the two hours in the morning in which Jews are allowed to ascend the Mount. Due to Israeli restrictions, the Temple Mount is open only to non-Muslims Sundays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and not on any Christian, Jewish or Muslim holidays or other days considered sensitive by the Waqf, the Mount's Islamic custodians.I personally watched the workers use a tractor and place thick stones into the ground in the area where the trench was dug this summer. It looked like the work began weeks ago. The whole area was raised up, a lot of work was done and big stones were being placed, said Rabbi Chaim Richman, director of the international department at Israel's Temple Institute.Richman said he was on the Mount Thursday when a scuffle ensued during which the Jerusalem police stopped the Waqf construction. But the Waqf still managed to cover a large section with the deep stone tiles, a Waqf worker told WND.The Waqf worker, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he was surprised the police acted to halt the stone-laying, since, he said, Jerusalem police forces did not stop the Waqf or question the Islamic custodians last month when they transported the large stones onto the Mount.

Jerusalem police spokesman Shmulik Ben Ruby yesterday denied the Waqf construction even took place. The Waqf is lying. They didn't do anything or cover anything. What happened was a bunch of Islamic Movement members from the north tried to ascend the Mount and place stone tiles on the floor and we stopped them, Ben Ruby told WND.The Islamic Movement, a Muslim Temple Mount activist group, denied they were involved in last week's incident. When quizzed about the witnesses who saw the Waqf construction, the PA Waqf director who commented on the construction and Ben Ruby's own police chief issuing a statement regarding the construction, Ben Ruby persisted: You can quote me here saying the Waqf is lying.Yoli Shwartz, a spokeswoman for the Israeli Antiquities Authority, the government agency charged with protecting the archaeological integrity of the Temple Mount, told the Jerusalem Post the police had alerted the authority about the issue, and that it would be examined in the coming days. Prominent, third-generation Temple Mount archaeologist Eilat Mazar slammed the Antiquities Authority:They continue to disappoint us. The Authority failed to protect the mount last summer when the Waqf tore into the ground and destroyed priceless artifacts, Mazar, a senior fellow at Israel's Shalem Center and member of the Public Committee for Prevention of the Destruction of Antiquities on Temple Mount, told WND.The Antiquities Authority is charged with the mission of protecting the Temple Mount but instead time and time again they turn a blind eye to Waqf destruction, Mazar said.Mazar's much-discussed discovery in the City of David, a neighborhood just south of Jerusalem's Old City Walls, is a massive building that dates to the 10th century B.C. is believed is the remains of the palace of the biblical King David, the second leader of a united kingdom of Israel, ruling from about 1005 to 965 B.C.

In August, when the Waqf dug their massive trench, the Mount's Islamic custodians were caught red-handed by WND destroying Temple-era antiquities. The Waqf had used tractors when the Muslim diggers came across a wall Israeli archaeologists believe may be remains of an area of the Second Jewish Temple known as the woman's courtyard. The Antiquities Authority did not halt the dig. WND at the time obtained a photograph of the massive Waqf trench. In view in the picture are concrete slabs broken by Waqf bulldozers and a chopped up carved stone believed to be of Jewish Temple-era antiquity. Mazar analyzed the photo and said the damaged stone displays elements of the second Temple era and might be part of the Jewish Temple wall Israeli archaeologists charge the Waqf has been attempting to destroy. She said in order to certify the stone in the photo, she would need to personally inspect it. But Israel blocked leading archaeologists from surveying the massive damage Islamic authorities are accused of causing to what may be the outer wall of the Second Jewish Temple. It's crucial this wall is inspected. The Temple Mount ground level is only slightly above the original Temple Mount platform, meaning anything found is likely from the Temple itself, Mazar told WND in August. Fed up, Mazar and other top archaeologists ascended the Mount to hold an August news conference and inspect the site without government permission, but they were blocked from the trench by the Israeli police. It is unconscionable that the Israeli government is permitting the Waqf to use heavy equipment to chop away at the most important archaeological site in the country without supervision, Mazar said.

The Israeli government is actively blocking us from inspecting the site and what may be a monumental find and is doing nothing while the Waqf destroys artifacts at Judaism's holiest site, she said.
After Mazar was barred, the Muslim Waqf custodians of the Temple Mount also banned WND from inspecting and filming their massive trench. The confrontation was captured on video by InfoLive.tv, a new, Internet-based television network broadcasting in four languages. WND and the InfoLive.tv camera crew ascended the Mount to obtain footage of the trench, but Waqf guards backed up by the Israeli police stopped the news agencies from approaching open sections of the trench. The guards told WND only closed areas of the trench could be filmed. Sections of the massive trench were being closed up with dirt today before archeologists were able to inspect the site. After persisting, one Waqf guard asked WND to shut off the camera and vacate the Temple Mount.

History of destruction

The last time the Waqf conducted a large dig on the Temple Mount – during construction 10 years ago of a massive mosque at an area referred to as Solomon's Stables – the Waqf reportedly disposed truckloads of dirt containing Jewish artifacts from the First and Second Temple periods. After media reported the disposals, Israeli authorities froze the construction permit given to the Waqf, and the dirt was transferred to Israeli archaeologists for analysis. The Israeli authorities found scores of Jewish Temple relics in the nearly disposed dirt, including coins with Hebrew writing referencing the Temple, part of a Hasmonean lamp, several other Second Temple lamps, Temple-period pottery with Jewish markings, a marble pillar shaft and other Temple period artifacts. The Waqf was widely accused of attempting to hide evidence of the existence of the Jewish Temples.

Temples never existed

Most Palestinian leaders routinely deny well-documented Jewish ties to the Temple Mount. Speaking to WND in a recent interview, Waqf official and chief Palestinian Justice Taysir Tamimi claimed the Jewish Temples never existed.About these so-called two Temples, they never existed, certainly not at the Haram Al- Sharif (Temple Mount), said Tamimi, who is considered the second most important Palestinian cleric after Muhammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem. Israel started since 1967 making archaeological digs to show Jewish signs to prove the relationship between Judaism and the city, and they found nothing. There is no Jewish connection to Israel before the Jews invaded in the 1880s, said Tamimi. The Palestinian cleric denied the validity of dozens of digs verified by experts worldwide revealing Jewish artifacts from the First and Second Temples, tunnels that snake under the Temple Mount and more than 100 ritual immersion pools believed to have been used by Jewish priests to cleanse themselves before services. The cleansing process is detailed in the Torah. Asked about the Western Wall, Tamimi said the structure was a tying post for Muhammad's horse and that it is part of the Al Aqsa Mosque, even though the wall predates the mosque by more than 1,000 years. The Western Wall is the western wall of the Al Aqsa Mosque, he said. It's where Prophet Muhammad tied his animal which took him from Mecca to Jerusalem to receive the revelations of Allah. The Palestinian media also regularly claim the Jewish Temples never existed.

Judaism's holiest site

While the Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism, Muslims say it is their third holiest site. The First Jewish Temple was built by King Solomon in the 10th century B.C. It was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. The Second Temple was rebuilt in 515 B.C. after Jerusalem was freed from Babylonian captivity. It was expanded by King Herod in 19 B.C. shortly before the birth of Jesus. That temple was destroyed by the Roman Empire in A.D. 70. Each temple stood for a period of about four centuries. The Jewish Temple was the center of religious Jewish worship. It housed the Holy of Holies, which contained the Ark of the Covenant and was said to be the area upon which God's presence dwelt. The Dome of the Rock now sits on the site and the Al Aqsa Mosque is adjacent.

The temple served as the primary location for the offering of sacrifices and was the main gathering place in Israel during Jewish holidays. The Temple Mount compound has remained a focal point for Jewish services over the millennia. Prayers for a return to Jerusalem have been uttered by Jews since the Second Temple was destroyed, according to Jewish tradition. Jews worldwide pray facing toward the Western Wall, a portion of an outer courtyard of the Temple left intact. The Al Aqsa Mosque was constructed around A.D. 709 to serve as a shrine near another shrine, the Dome of the Rock, which was built by an Islamic caliph. Al Aqsa was meant to mark where Muslims came to believe Muhammad, the founder of Islam, ascended to heaven. Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran. Islamic tradition states Muhammad took a journey in a single night from a sacred mosque – believed to be in Mecca in southern Saudi Arabia – to the farthest mosque and from a rock there ascended to heaven. The farthest mosque later became associated with Jerusalem.
