WARN THE PEOPLE-WW3

EZEKIEL 33:1-6
1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2  Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3  If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4  Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5  He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6  But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

DANIEL 11:40-45 (WW3 BREAKDOWN)
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south( EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) and the king of the north (RUSSIA AND MUSLIM HORDES OF EZEK 38+39) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44 But tidings out of the east(CHINA 2ND WAVE OF WW3) and out of the north(RUSSIA, MUSLIMS WHATS LEFT FROM WAVE 1) shall trouble him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.( 1/3RD OF EARTHS POPULATION)
45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

ISAIAH 24:1
1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste,(NUKES USED) and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.(WORLD IMMIGRATION)

GENESIS 16:11-12
11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael;(ARAB/MUSLIM) because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man;(RIOTS-BURNING-MURDEROUUS RAGE) his hand will be against every man,(ISLAM WANTS WORLD DOMINATION) and every man's hand against him;(DEFENDING THEMSELVES) and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.(ARAB/MUSLIMS LIVE WITH ISRAELIS)

ISAIAH 33:1,18-19 Woe to thee that spoilest,(destroys) and thou wast not spoiled;(destroyed) and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil,(destroy) thou shalt be spoiled;(destroyed) and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

JOHN 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.(ISLAM MURDERS IN THE NAME OF THEIR MOON GOD ALLAH)

ISAIAH 14:12-23
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, (SATAN) son of the morning! (HEBREW MEANS CRESCENT MOON ANGEL-ISLAM OVIOUSLY)(SATAN IS THE GOD OF ISLAM) how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL EATS HUMANS FLESH FOR COMING AGAINST ISRAEL-JERUSALEM

Ecclesiastes 9:10
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

EZEKIEL 31:10-17
10 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.(HELL).
15Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
17They also went down into hell with him unto [them that be] slain with the sword; and [they that were] his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
18To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword. This [is] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 32:17-32
17 It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, [that] the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
18 Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, [even] her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
19 Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.
20 They shall fall in the midst of [them that are] slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
21 The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
22 Asshur [is] there and all her company: his graves [are] about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:
23 Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.
24 There [is] Elam (IRAN) and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
25 They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of [them that be] slain.
26 There [is] Meshech, Tubal,(RUSSIA) (GERMANY, TURKEY) and all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
27And they shall not lie with the mighty [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
28 Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with [them that are] slain with the sword.
29 There [is] Edom,(JORDAN) her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by [them that were] slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.
30 There [be] the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
31 Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, [even] Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
32 For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that are] slain with the sword, [even] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 38:1-23
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I (GOD) will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.(AFRICAN MUSLIMS,SUDAN,TUNESIA ETC)
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say,(RUSSIA-ARAB-MUSLIMS) I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13  Sheba, and Dedan,(SAUDI-ARABIA) and the merchants of Tarshish,(SPAIN) with all the young lions thereof,(ENGLAND,AND ALL ITS ASSOCIATES-CANADA,AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND, USA, AND WESTERN ENGLISH SPEAKING NATIONS) shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?(OIL IS IN SPOIL-I BELIEVE THATS WHY RUSSIA,ARAB/MUSLIMS MARCH TO ISRAEL)
14  Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?
15  And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
16  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

EZEKIEL 39:11-22
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)(EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN THE JORDAN VALLEY)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)
18  Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19  And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20  Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21  And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22  So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

REVELATION 19:17-18
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;(AGAINST ALL NATIONS ARMIES THAT COME AGAINST JERUSALEM AND ISRAEL)
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

EZEKIEL 32:18-29 (NOTICE ALL THE COUNTRIES LAND PROMISED ISRAEL BY GOD ARE IN THE JORDAN VALLEY BURIED)
18 “Son of man, wail for the multitudes of Egypt, and consign her and the daughters of the mighty nations to the depths of the earth with those who descend to the Pit:
19 Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be placed with the uncircumcised! (IN HELL FIRES)
20 They will fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is appointed! Let them drag her away along with all her multitudes.
21 Mighty chiefs will speak from the midst of Sheol about Egypt and her allies: ‘They have come down and lie with the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.’
22 Assyria (SYRIA) is there with her whole company; her graves are all around her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword.
23 Her graves are set in the depths of the Pit, and her company is all around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who once spread terror in the land of the living.
24 Elam (IRAN) is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who went down uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
25 Among the slain they prepare a resting place for Elam with all her hordes, with her graves all around her. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, although their terror was once spread in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit. They are placed among the slain.
26 Meshech and Tubal (RUSSIA) are there with all their multitudes, with their graves all around them. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, because they spread their terror in the land of the living.
27 They do not lie down with the fallen warriors of old, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads, whose shields rested on their bones, although the terror of the mighty was once in the land of the living.
28 But you too will be shattered and lie down among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.
29 Edom (JORDAN) is there, and all her kings and princes, who despite their might are laid among those slain by the sword. They lie down with the uncircumcised, with those who descend to the Pit.THIS IS RIGHT FROM 93:

SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Then I saw that the second angel had a sickle in his hand, such as is used in harvesting. The second angel said: "Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the way to Iran."I saw those countries in a few split seconds."All of Turkey and those [inaudible] countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another."I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries. I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia - Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor - full of blood. I saw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; Nuclear weapons used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction – men destroying one another. I heard these words:"Israel, Oh Israel, the great judgment has come." The angel said, "The chosen, the church, the remnant, shall be purified. The Spirit of God shall prepare the children of God."I saw fires rising to heaven. The angel said: "This is the final judgment. My church shall be purified, protected and ready for the final day. Men will die from thirst. Water shall be scarce all over the Middle East. Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries."The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

PSALMS 83:1-8 (GODS LAND PROMISED TO ISRAEL)
1 O God, do not remain silent;do not turn a deaf ear,do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,  how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they (ARAB,MUSLIMS) conspire against your people;they plot against those you cherish.(ISRAELIS)
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
5 With one mind they plot together;(TREATIES) they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom (JORDAN)  and the Ishmaelites, (EGYPTIAN ARABS SO CALLED PALESTIANS) of Moab (JORDAN) and the Hagrites,(EGYPT)
7 Byblos,(HEZBOLLOH) Ammon (JORDAN) and Amalek,(SYRIAN ARABS IN THE SINAI) Philistia,(ARABS) with the people of Tyre (LEBANON).
8 Even Assyria (SYRIA) has joined them to reinforce Lot’s descendants.

GENESIS 6:11-13
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.(WORLD TERRORISM,MURDERS)(HAMAS IN HEBREW IS VIOLENCE)
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence (TERRORISM)(HAMAS) through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

1 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
1-PROMISCUOUS SEX AMOUNG EACH OTHER.
ROMANS 1:24
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: (THE 60S FREE SEX)
2 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
2-SODOMITES - MEN LUSTING MEN, AND WOMEN LUSTING AFTER WOMEN.
ROMANS 1:26-27
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
3 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
3-A DEPRAVED MIND-ANY SIN GOES.
ROMANS 1:28-31
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO THESE 3 DEPRAVED ABOMINATION SINS?
OH OH NOAHS DAY. WHAT HAPPENED IN NOAHS DAY. THE WHOLE WORLD WAS JUDGED BY WATER.
GENESIS 6:7,17
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
GENESIS 7:4
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
GENESIS 8:16
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
WELL THE SODOMITES PICKED THE RIGHT SIGN OF A RAINBOW FOR JUDGEMENT. THE SODOMITES TRYED TO STEAL GODS SIGN THAT THE WHOLE EARTH WILL NEVER DIE FROM FLOOD WATERS AGAIN. BUT THE JUDGEMENT THIS TIME IS GOING TO BE BY FIRE.NOT WATER.
2 PETER 3:7
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

EZIKIEL 38:12-13
13 Sheba, and Dedan,(SAUDIA ARABIA) and the merchants of Tarshish,(ENGLAND) with all the young lions thereof,(USA,CANADA,AUSTRALIA,NEW ZEALAND,EU,ENGLAND,ENGLISH SPEAKING shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? A senior Biden administration official says Iran has no right to attack Israel military following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which was widely attributed to Israel.“There’s absolutely no legitimate basis whatsoever for Iran to launch a military attack against Israel, which it continues to threaten,” the senior official says in a briefing with reporters.“There’s been a sense out there that somehow, Iran now has the right to attack Israel militarily, and we completely reject that logic,” he adds. The senior Biden administration official says the US is prepared for any contingency. “We have moved an awful lot of military force into the region, including F-22s that arrived today… We’re doing all we can to deter such an attack, to defeat an attack if it comes, and also to demonstrate to Iran that there’s a better path forward here than a military attack.”Earlier today, Biden met in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to review US military deployments to help defend Israel from an attack against Iran, the official adds.“The consequences of such a direct attack could be quite significant, including for Iran and Iran’s economy, which I know their new government is concerned about,” the senior official adds.

Retired generals to ICC: Prosecutor has no evidence for allegations against Israel-In court briefing, senior officers from US, Italy and UK say warrants against PM and Gallant would set ‘unbearable, unrealistic standards’ for other armies engaged in urban combat-By Jeremy Sharon-Today, 2:43 am-AUG 8,24

A group of international retired generals and senior military officers have told the International Criminal Court that its chief prosecutor Karim Khan’s claims that Israel deliberately starved Palestinians and intentionally targeted civilians during the current war in Gaza lack evidence and do not stand up to scrutiny. The High Level Military Group (HLMG) made its comments in an amicus brief filed to the ICC earlier this week, in which it argued that Khan’s request for arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were unjustified owing to Israeli efforts to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza and what it described as the Israel Defense Forces’ rigorous efforts to avoid civilian casualties.HLMG’s brief was one of dozens submitted to the ICC — arguing for and against Khan’s request for arrest warrants — after the court in June accepted a request from the United Kingdom to file an amicus brief challenging its jurisdiction. The UK subsequently decided not to file the brief after the new Labour government took power, but numerous other states, organizations, elected officials and academics filed briefs to the court before the August 6 deadline. The three judges of Pre-Trial Chamber I will now have to review the claims included in the briefs, as well as a response from Khan, before ruling on the various issues raised by the submissions. The signatories to HLMG’s brief included the former head of the Italian armed forces, General Vincenzo Camporini; retired Lt. Gen. David Deptula of the US Air Force, who served as director of the Combined Air Operations Center during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, among other command roles; retired UK Col. (ret.) Richard Kemp; and other generals and senior officers from the British and French armies.HLMG focuses on the challenges facing Western democracies fighting terrorist armies and non-state actors, and has produced several reports defending Israeli military campaigns.“Should the court approve the requested arrest warrants it is our professional military opinion that this would set standards that are unbearable and unrealistic with regards to military operations and the facilitation of humanitarian activities during active hostilities, and standards which would be unacceptable for other democracies and their armed forces (including our own) that engage in urban warfare,” HLMG told the ICC panel that is considering Khan’s request.Addressing one of Khan’s central charges that Israel used starvation as a method of warfare in Gaza, which is a crime against humanity, HLMG noted that during a visit to the region in July, its representatives observed the two new goods crossings Israel has built to deliver humanitarian aid into the northern Gaza Strip after the Erez Crossing was destroyed by Hamas during the terror group’s October 7 attack that started the war. They also pointed to roads built by Israel inside Gaza to facilitate the collection and distribution of aid to the local population, as well as Israel’s cooperation in the coordination of aid air drops and the construction of the US floating pier (JLOTS), which were also designed to increase the amount of aid that could be transferred into the territory. The organization also noted that beyond the amount of aid that has been delivered to Gaza since October 7 — around 869,000 tons — some 16,000 coordination operations have been conducted in the territory to get the aid from the crossing points to the population, a key issue which aid organizations have criticized Israel over.“The logistical efforts of the IDF, the infrastructure they have built and maintained, the resources dedicated by the IDF to these efforts, the directives and commands we saw, and the commanders we met all suggest that there is a genuine, ongoing and concerted effort to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Gaza, in direct contradiction to the claims of the Prosecutor,” the HLMG generals wrote. They added that food insecurity in Gaza was instead due to the “unavoidable effects of large-scale urban warfare,” as well as Hamas’s role in hijacking aid consignments and other misuses of aid in Gaza.“It is our professional view that accusations of an intent to starve civilians by the Israeli prime minister and minister of defense are unsupported by all available evidence, most importantly by the actual conduct of IDF operations in and around Gaza.”Addressing Khan’s claims that Israel has targeted Palestinian civilians in Gaza, HLMG said that “here may well have been instances of unlawful killing by IDF forces” during the war, whether negligently, accidently or even deliberately.“There has never been a war where such incidents have not occurred, and not in our collective experience,” the generals said, adding that investigations they have conducted “confirmed” such incidents were not a manifestation of an intent to attack civilians transmitted to the force by the prime minister or defense minister. The group also pointed to Hamas’s tactics, noting the terror organization “consistently and pervasively embeds itself into the civilian population,” complicating the Israeli military’s “distinction process” in differentiating between civilian and military targets; uses human shields; does not have its combatants wear uniforms; is holding of hostages in Gaza, including in civilian homes; and maintains a tunnel system that runs under civilian infrastructure. All of this, the group said, meant that Gaza had become “the most complex and challenging battlefield of modern times,” adding that harm to civilians in such a war was not evidence of misconduct.HLMG also pointed to the fact that Israeli military prosecutors themselves investigating incidents of alleged violations of the laws of war, putting the current number of investigations at 300.  It noted that though these investigations have not been completed, Khan went ahead and requested the arrest warrants, labeling his step “patently premature.”A foundational principle of the ICC is that it is a court of last resort and can only intervene when a state is unable or unwilling to conduct credible investigations of itself, known as the complementarity principle. The organization also noted that recent war crimes investigations in Australia took four years to conduct and another three years to bring charges, while a UK investigation into war crimes which began in 2022 has yet to be concluded, asserting that Khan’s decision to seek arrest warrants in Israel’s case was therefore unjustifiably hasty.“The proposed ICC arrest warrants would deny the investigatory leeway to the State of Israel which was exercised in the cases we mention above,” HLMG said.A separate brief filed by two prominent Israeli academic experts on international law, Prof. Yuval Shany of Hebrew University and Prof. Amichai Cohen of the Israel Democracy Institute, strongly challenged the ICC’s jurisdiction over the case, particularly pointing to the court’s own decision from 2021 that the Pre-Trial Chamber would have to rule on its jurisdiction before warrants could be issued. In 2021, when the “State of Palestine” acceded to the ICC, the court ruled that it would need to make a final decision on Israel’s claim that the Palestinian Authority’s request to join the ICC violated the Oslo Accords. The terms of the Oslo Accords state explicitly that the Palestinian Authority will not have criminal jurisdiction over Israeli citizens.Since the ICC works under the principle that its member states delegate their ability to exercise criminal jurisdiction to the court, Israel and its allies argue the Palestinians never had jurisdiction in the first place to confer on the ICC.“That jurisdiction over Israelis was explicitly retained by Israel under the Interim Agreement (article 17(4)) is reflective of the creation of the PA as a form of self-government over local Palestinians… Significantly, it [the PA] was created without legal power to apply its laws to Israeli nationals, even in those areas over which it possesses some governmental authority,” wrote Shany and Cohen. The two professors also questioned whether Khan abided by the principle of complementarity by so swiftly seeking arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, telling the Pre-Trial Chamber that in so doing he had “deprived Israel and other states of a reasonable opportunity to open a ‘mirroring investigation’ within the timeline envisioned by the [ICC’s founding charter the Rome] Statute.”

US said to warn Iran: Devastating consequences if you strike-Security cabinet convenes as Israel warns Hezbollah of ‘destruction’ if it attacks-Israel said to assess group wants to target senior official; leaders meet in ‘the pit’; Gallant to Lebanese: Don’t let Hezbollah drag you to war; Haifa mayor tells locals: Stock up
By Emanuel Fabian,Jacob Magid-and ToI Staff 8 August 2024, 11:10 pm

The security cabinet convened Thursday night in Tel Aviv, as the country continued to brace for a potential attack by the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon. The cabinet met in the underground command room of the Kirya military headquarters, Hebrew media reported, the first time such a meeting has been held there since the night of April 13-14, when Iran launched some 300 missiles and drones at Israel, almost all of which were intercepted. The meeting was taking place in “the pit,” as the underground command room is known, but not due to immediate security concerns, but rather in order to drill for a potential emergency situation, Channel 12 news reported, as Israel was preparing for a promised attack by Iran and its terror proxies to several recent high-profile assassinations.According to Channel 13, the Israeli assessment on Thursday was that Hezbollah would try to target a senior Israeli official in retaliation for the Israeli killing of commander Fuad Shukr on July 30, which came after a Hezbollah rocket attack killed twelve children in the Golan Heights days earlier.Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued an unusual missive to the Lebanese people, warning in Arabic that Israel will fight Hezbollah “with all its might” if the group continues to escalate tensions.“The State of Israel wants peace, prosperity and stability on both sides of the northern border and therefore will in no way allow the Hezbollah militia to destabilize the border and the region. If Hezbollah continues its aggression, Israel will fight it with all its might,” Gallant wrote.— יואב גלנט – Yoav Gallant (@yoavgallant) August 8, 2024“Remember [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah’s regret for the dangerous and uncalculated adventure of August 2006,” he said, referring to the Second Lebanon War, a 34-day conflict that erupted when Hezbollah operatives captured two Israeli soldiers and killed others.“Those who play with fire should expect destruction,” Gallant said.Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav also referred to the Second Lebanon War on Thursday, noting to public broadcaster Kan that Hezbollah’s arsenal is significantly more advanced than it was 18 years ago: “They are very precise missiles, and they are expected to fire 4,000 missiles at us each day,” Yahav said.“That’s what we’re preparing [our citizens] for. In any case, we’re asking them to prepare enough food, enough water, because we’re expecting they’ll have to stay there [in shelters and safe areas] for four to six days” if Hezbollah attacks, he added. At an assessment at the IDF Home Front Command, Gallant said Israel was working to provide an adequate warning of any expected attack, but advised citizens to go on with their lives as usual in the absence of special directions.“The public’s resilience allows us to make the right operational decisions. In the face of the enemy’s attempt to sow fear, we must continue with normal daily life,” he said in remarks provided by his office.Israel has been bracing for an attack since the military assassinated Shukr last week, hours before Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of the Hamas terror group, was also killed in a blast in Tehran, for which Israel has neither claimed nor denied responsibility.Iran, which supports both Hezbollah and Hamas, vowed to retaliate for the assassinations. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the United States has warned Iran that its government and economy could suffer a devastating blow if it carries out a major attack against Israel, delivering the message directly to Tehran as well as through intermediaries.“The United States has sent clear messaging to Iran that the risk of a major escalation if they do a significant retaliatory attack against Israel is extremely high,” said an unnamed US official quoted in the report.Tehran has been told “that there is a serious risk of consequences for Iran’s economy and the stability of its newly elected government if it goes down that path,” the official added. The warning was not meant to communicate that the US would attack Iran directly, the Journal reported, citing American officials, but rather to warn Iran of the risks of provoking a military response from Israel. The Islamic Republic has reportedly hesitated on whether to launch an attack, but on Wednesday, CNN reported that Israeli officials assessed Hezbollah may attack Israel in the coming days, independent of Iran itself.Israel has conveyed to both Hezbollah and Iran that any harm to civilians in Israel would cross a red line and lead to a disproportionate response, according to Channel 12.The same network reported Thursday that Israel has prepared not only to counter rockets and missiles, but also to prevent any cross-border penetration by land or sea.Hezbollah began its near-daily attacks on Israeli communities and military posts along the border on October 8 of last year, a day after the Hamas terror group’s attack on southern Israel, in which some 3,000 terrorists invaded the country from the Gaza Strip, tearing through the border fence, killing some 1,200 people, and taking 251 hostages, starting the ongoing war.According to Channel 12, Israel’s defense establishment has prepared Israel to respond to an attack with “highly significant action” wherever is needed— “not only in Lebanon.”Amid the heightened tension, the United States has increased its military presence in the region, sending additional fighter jets and Navy warships to the Middle East to counter threats by Iran and its proxies, alongside an intense diplomatic effort to de-escalate the situation. The United States Central Command announced Thursday that US Air Force F-22 fighter jets had arrived at its area of responsibility, “as part of US force posture changes in the region and to address threats posed by Iran and Iranian-backed groups.”CENTCOM chief Gen. Michael Kurilla made his second visit to Israel in less than a week on Thursday, several outlets reported.Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the IDF said Thursday that its fighter jets had attacked and destroyed several Hezbollah “terror infrastructure” sites in southern Lebanon overnight, publishing footage of the strikes.— צבא ההגנה לישראל (@idfonline) August 8, 2024-Israeli fighter jets and drones also carried out several strikes in southern Lebanon on Thursday, hitting a cell of operatives, a rocket launcher, buildings used by Hezbollah and other infrastructure in Kafr Kila, Yarine, Rachaf, at-Tiri and Houla, the military said.Hezbollah confirmed the death of a member killed in an Israeli strike, bringing the terror group’s toll since October 8 to 401. In Lebanon, another 70 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier and dozens of civilians have been killed.Hezbollah also fired several barrages of rockets from Lebanon into Israel on Thursday, firing some 15 rockets at the Western Galilee Thursday afternoon, all of which struck open areas near Kibbutz Kabri, with no injuries reported.Shortly thereafter, Hezbollah fired another 8 rockets from Lebanon, targeting the same area. The rockets fell in open areas near the northern community of Shlomi, according to the IDF.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war there. So far, the skirmishes have resulted in 25 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

University of Georgia panel upholds sanctions for 6 students over Gaza war protest-US students to remain suspended through fall semester, on probation until graduation; protesters ‘chose to be arrested’ by breaking the rules, admins said in May, drawing backlash-By AP 8 August 2024, 11:52 pm

Six University of Georgia students arrested during an April 29 protest about the Israel-Hamas war will remain suspended through the fall semester, the American university’s Office of Student Conduct announced Monday. The students will also remain on probation for the remainder of their academic careers at the university. The decision came after a 13-hour disciplinary hearing on July 30. Students can appeal the ruling to the university’s vice president of student affairs. An attorney representing two of the suspended students, Josh Lingsch, called the hearing “nothing more than a kangaroo court” in a Thursday statementCampus police arrested 16 protesters who set up an encampment near university President Jere Morehead’s office on the Athens campus in April. The school suspended the students hours later. Some students informally resolved charges with the school by acknowledging their violations, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.During the hearing, the six remaining students said they had a right to protest and none of their actions interrupted academic activities. When they tried to comply with orders to move, students said officers used force and tried to end their protest.University representatives said that the encampments put students and professors in danger, and that students were warned to disperse.“The University will continue to enforce our policies to protect the free expression rights of all members of our community while recognizing that such activities must comply with applicable laws and policies,” university spokesperson Greg Trevor said in a statement. The hearing, which the six students requested, included a panel of two students and one faculty member.Protesters “chose to be arrested” by ignoring the campus rules on demonstrations, administrators wrote in a public letter in May. But 180 faculty and staff signed a petition calling the sanctions “unwarranted and antithetical to our educational mission.”Ezra Lewis, who lost her residential advisor position because of the suspension, accused the university of “selective enforcement” in a Thursday statement.“They have acted like our punishment was content-neutral, but President Morehead has made a clear political stance with Israel and has shown preferential treatment to UGA Hillel,” she said in a statement released Thursday. “The fact that they are trying to gaslight us into believing that this is a freedom of expression policy violation is ludicrous.”

Iranian operatives have been posing as Israelis to try to recruit them, Shin Bet says-Latest alleged espionage op includes accounts claiming to give employment services, but actually putting Israelis to work for Tehran to harm state security, agency says-By Emanuel Fabian-and ToI Staff 8 August 2024, 10:16 pm

Iranian spies created fake online profiles impersonating Israeli users as part of a scheme to recruit Israeli civilians to carry out missions for Tehran, Israeli authorities said Thursday. The accusation by the Shin Bet security agency marks the latest in a series of alleged Iranian plots trying to trick Israelis online, including a scheme uncovered in January in which Israelis were allegedly recruited to gather intelligence on high-profile figures for Tehran. In the newer plot, Israelis were contacted by Iranians using accounts with Hebrew or Israeli names, including some claiming to provide employment services in Jerusalem and Haifa.Iran had hoped to convince the marks to carry out missions that would have harmed state security, the Shin Bet says, without detailing the tasks. It is unclear if any Israelis were successfully recruited or if any information was passed to Iran; no charges or arrests were announced. The profiles uncovered by the agency included Telegram users, channels and bot accounts under the names: Itamar201020, Gal01110, Mariiyam1997, PAndersion198, hadas99, Ramon_nkl96, צבא העם (people’s army), VIP EMPLOYMENT, עבודה באזור י-ם והסביבה (work in Jerusalem and the area), and דרושים עובדים – חיפה (employees wanted – Haifa). In several of the groups, an account named IRAN INTELLIGENCE SERVICE had posted, offering “interesting and exciting” jobs with a high salary. The posts included links where applicants were supposed to fill out personal details.Several civilians who were contacted by the alleged Iranian accounts contacted Israeli security authorities and reported the suspicious messages, the Shin Bet said. The agency called on the public to be vigilant online, refrain from handing over personal information to unknown accounts, and report any suspicious activity. In January, the Shin Bet said it had uncovered attempts by Iranian intelligence services to spy on Israeli defense officials and gather information on civilians by using fake social media pages related to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.Using fictitious social media pages and websites, the Iranian operatives also initiated gatherings near the homes of the families of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas and had bouquets of flowers and messages sent to their homes, the Shin Bet said. That scheme was run by the same Iranian network behind attempts uncovered in December to recruit Israelis over social media to carry out spying missions, including an assassination, in exchange for money. In that operation, individuals affiliated with Iranian security services contacted Israelis on various platforms and sparked an initial conversation using various deceptions. They then asked their marks to perform tasks such as photographing various sites and verifying addresses.Attempts to recruit the Israelis are a “well-known method of operation of the Iranian security agencies,” the Shin Bet explained at the time.In July of last year, the Shin Bet said it had uncovered an Iranian phishing campaign against Israeli civilians, mostly targeting state employees and researchers, in a bid to obtain intelligence on state policy.According to the agency, Iranian operatives would contact Israeli targets on LinkedIn while posing as acquaintances, and the conversation would move to an email, where the operatives would either invite them to a conference by sending them a document with further details or sharing a research paper. In 2021, Iranian operatives were found to have attempted to lure Israeli academics, business people and former defense officials abroad, in an effort to kidnap or otherwise harm them.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Houthi leader says group will coordinate with ‘axis of resistance’ to attack Israel-Yemeni rebel group says retaliation for July 20 strike on Hodeida port is ‘inevitable,’ response delayed for ‘purely tactical’ reasons-By AFP and ToI Staff 8 August 2024, 8:12 pm

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The leader of Yemen’s Houthis said Thursday that retaliation for an Israeli strike last month on a port controlled by the Iran-backed rebels was inevitable. The promise threatened to add to regional tensions that have soared after Iran vowed reprisals against Israel for the killing of top Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut last week, and for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran hours later, which Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for.A response to Israel’s July 20 attack that targeted fuel storage tanks on the Houthi-controlled Hodeida harbor is “inevitable and will come,” Abdul Malik al-Houthi said in a televised speech. The battle with Israel was “at its zenith,” the rebel chief added.Israeli fighter jets struck the port’s oil and fuel facilities last month in response to a Houthi drone strike on Tel Aviv which killed a man.In addition to oil and fuel facilities, the strike targeted four large container cranes, which Israel said were being used to import Iranian weapons into Yemen. In total, a port official estimated that the strike caused around $20 million in damage. The Houthi rebel group is part of Iran’s so-called “axis of resistance,” which includes Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Syrian and Iraqi militant groups. The delayed response by Iran and its proxies was “purely tactical,” al-Houthi said, adding that it was aiming for “a genuinely impactful response” in light of preemptive defense measures taken by Israel and its American backers.“The decision to respond is a decision made by everyone; at the level of the entire axis,” he said.Since November, the Iranian proxy has been targeting ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza where Israel has been waging a war against Hamas since the terrorist organization’s unprecedented October 7 massacre, in which some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed and 251 were taken hostage.“The decrease in maritime traffic is a great victory,” the Houthi leader said on Thursday, adding that a total of 177 vessels had been targeted.

Canada to pull children of its diplomats out of Israel amid fears of Iranian attack-Ottawa approves temporary relocation of children and their guardians to a third country, days after warning citizens to avoid all travel to the region-By Reuters and ToI Staff 8 August 2024, 7:06 pm

Canada has decided to pull the children of its diplomats and their guardians out of Israel amid fears of a widened conflict in the Middle East, the Canadian foreign ministry said on Thursday. The fear of regional escalation comes amid threats to attack Israel by Iran and its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah, following last week’s assassination of top Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.Jerusalem has neither claimed nor denied responsibility for the high-profile assassination of Haniyeh, which came hours after Israel killed Shukr following a Hezbollah rocket attack that killed 12 children in the Golan Heights days earlier. The threats of retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah have fanned fears of a broader conflict in a region already on edge amid Israel’s 10-month-old war with Hamas in Gaza, which began with the terror group’s brutal October 7 invasion of southern Israel. The recent tensions have fanned fears of a broader conflict.Canada’s plan to evacuate the families of diplomats due to fears of an attack by Iran and its proxies was first reported in Hebrew media on Tuesday but was not immediately confirmed by the country’s foreign ministry. The foreign ministry, in a statement on Thursday, said it had approved temporarily relocating the diplomats’ children and their guardians to a safe third country. It added that diplomats stationed in Ramallah in the West Bank and in Beirut do not have dependents living with them.Canada on Saturday warned citizens to avoid all travel to Israel, saying the regional armed conflict endangered security. It also urged its citizens not to travel to Gaza and the West Bank. The embassies in Tel Aviv and Beirut and the representative office to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank “all remain fully operational and continue to provide essential services to Canadians,” the ministry said in a statement.Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza was triggered by the October 7 terror onslaught in which some 1,200 people were slaughtered and 251 were taken hostage as thousands of Hamas-led terrorists rampaged across southern Israel. In the months of war in Gaza, through which Israel seeks to dismantle Hamas’s governing and military capabilities, the Hamas-run health ministry says more than 39,000 people have been killed or are presumed dead, although the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 15,000 combatants in battle and some 1,000 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 attack.Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 331.

Killing of Hamas boss Haniyeh will ‘cost Israel gravely,’ Iran warns-Acting foreign minister praises choice of Sinwar as successor, claims wide consensus of Islamic countries supports Tehran’s right to retaliate for slaying of terror leader-By AFP and ToI Staff 8 August 2024, 5:49 pm

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — Israel committed a costly “strategic mistake” with its killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, Iran’s acting foreign minister told AFP in an interview on Thursday.“The act that the Zionists carried out in Tehran was a strategic mistake because it will cost them gravely,” Ali Bagheri said one day after attending an emergency session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called by Iran to discuss the killing.Although Israel has not commented on Haniyeh’s death, Iran has vowed to retaliate, setting the region on edge.Bagheri accused Israel of wanting “to expand tension, war and conflict to other countries,” while asserting the Jewish state lacked the ability to fight Iran.“The Zionists are in no position to start a war against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said. “They neither have the capacity nor the strength.”The meeting on Wednesday in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah of foreign ministers from the 57-member OIC produced a declaration holding Israel “fully responsible” for the “heinous” killing of Haniyeh, the leader of the Hamas terror group, who lived in Qatar and was a major player in talks to free the Israeli hostages held by Hamas and halt the war in the Gaza Strip.Despite mounting fears of an escalation in the region and calls for restraint from Washington, Bagheri told AFP that OIC members voiced support for Iranian retaliation.“Those we have spoken to yesterday, whether in phone calls or during in-person meetings, all of them stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to respond to this terrorist crime,” he said.“Western countries, who claim they have asked Iran to restrict its response, need to answer questions and are not in the position to advise the Islamic Republic of Iran.”The war in Gaza began with Hamas’s October 7 onslaught across southern Israel, in which the terror group slaughtered some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages. One hundred and eleven hostages are still held in Gaza, including 39 the IDF determined have been killed. Two civilians and the remains of two soldiers in Gaza held for over a decade are also being held hostage.Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed at least 39,699 people, according to the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry, which does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. The figures cannot be verified.Yahya Sinwar, the alleged mastermind of the October 7 attacks and the group’s Gaza leader, was named head of Hamas Tuesday following Haniyeh’s death.Analysts believe Sinwar has been both more reluctant to agree to a Gaza ceasefire and closer to Tehran than Haniyeh.Bagheri hailed Sinwar’s appointment on Thursday in a statement published by Iran’s foreign ministry.“This selection at the current critical moment brings hope, cohesion, authority and victory for the Hamas movement, the heroic nation of Palestine and the axis of resistance,” he said.Hamas’s Lebanese ally Hezbollah has also pledged to retaliate for Haniyeh’s killing and that of its military commander Fuad Shukr in an Israeli strike in Beirut hours earlier.Bagheri said that Hezbollah and other Iran-backed groups in the region, including Yemen’s Houthi rebels, had “similar goals” but would make independent decisions on how to pursue them.“We have similar goals but, in the field, the resistance movement acts based (on) its own… understanding of the situation and its interests,” he said.An Iranian operation targeting Israel would be “exactly in line with the preservation of the security and stabilization of the region,” he said.Bagheri called on Washington and other countries to cease sending arms to Israel that could be used in Gaza, and said economic aid and diplomatic relations with Israel should also be severed.“The countries who are providing arms and equipment, countries who have economic ties with the Zionist regime, countries who have diplomatic ties with the Zionist regime which is carrying out so many crimes, they need to come and answer why this situation is continuing,” he said.

Oslo summons envoy, warns of 'consequences' to 'extreme' step-Israel revokes accreditation for Norwegian diplomats dealing with Palestinians-‘Those who conduct a unilateral policy against us will pay a price,’ says FM Katz, citing Norway’s recognition of Palestine and support for proceedings against Israel at The Hague-By Sam Sokol-8 August 2024, 2:37 pm

Citing what it described as “a flurry of recent anti-Israel and unilateral steps taken by the government of Norway,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Monday announced that it will revoke the diplomatic accreditation of eight Norwegian diplomats based in Tel Aviv who dealt with the Palestinian Authority.According to the ministry, the dramatic move serves as a response to Oslo’s recognition of a Palestinian state as well as recent “severe comments by senior Norwegian officials.”The Norwegian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and informed that the diplomats would have their accreditation revoked in seven days and their visas in three months. All eight were given the option to apply for new accreditation.“There is a price for anti-Israeli conduct. Instead of fighting Palestinian terrorism after October 7 and supporting Israel’s fight against the Iranian axis of evil — Norway chose to award the murderers and rapists of Hamas in the form of recognition of a Palestinian state,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement.“Norway conducts a unilateral policy on the Palestinian issue – therefore I ordered the termination of any representation toward the Palestinian Authority on behalf of the Norwegian embassy in Israel. Those who attack us and conduct a unilateral policy against us will pay a price,” he said, adding that Oslo had “joined the unfounded lawsuit against us at the ICC.”In response, Norway’s foreign minister said Thursday that Israel’s decision was an “extreme action that primarily affects our ability to help the Palestinian population,” warning that it would “have consequences for our relationship with the Netanyahu government.”“We are considering what measures Norway will take to respond to the situation that the Netanyahu government has now created,” Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said in a statement.Later on Thursday, Barth Eide said he had summoned an Israeli embassy official over the decision.“A short while ago, I summoned Israel’s representative to Norway and met her at the foreign ministry to protest against this decision,” he told journalists, adding that he had asked the representative for an explanation but she “was unable to provide one on the spot.”“We have all along expected there may be reactions to the position we have chosen [on the recognition of a Palestinian state], but we are surprised that they chose to do this, and especially right now,” he said.Speaking with The Times of Israel, a European diplomat stationed in Israel also expressed concern over Israel’s decision.“The question is whether it will do the same with all the 143 states that recognize Palestine,” the diplomat said on condition of anonymity. “Any initiative to block the dialogue of the West with the PA doesn’t help in the current situation; dialogue is needed.”Norway, along with Spain and Ireland, formally recognized a Palestinian state in late May, in a move that Eide said constituted “a milestone in the relationship between Norway and Palestine.”Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by calling such recognition “a reward for terrorism,” noting that polling had shown a majority of Palestinians had supported the October 7 massacre and charging that an independent Palestine “will be a terror state.”Last month, Foreign Minister Katz turned down Eide’s request to visit Israel, saying the decision was made in protest of a series of decisions by Norway’s government relating to the war against Hamas in Gaza.Katz pointed to Norway’s recognition of a Palestinian state, failure to list Hamas as a terrorist organization, and backing of the case against Israel at The Hague as reasons for his refusal to let Eide into the country on an official visit.Throughout the war in Gaza, Eide has been critical of Israel’s conduct. While affirming Israel’s right to self-defense against the Hamas terror group, Norway voted in favor of the October 27 United Nations resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza — alongside the release of Hamas-held hostages — before Israel’s ground offensive even began. On Tuesday, Norway submitted an amicus brief in support of ⁦the International Criminal Court’s jurisdiction in Palestine.Norway has submitted an amicus brief in support of ⁦#ICC⁩ jurisdiction in Palestine. The Oslo Accords are not relevant for the determination of ICC’s jurisdiction, and, regardless, the Oslo Accords do not limit the ICC’s jurisdiction in Palestine. https://t.co/wzGBuRz1wq— Espen Barth Eide (@EspenBarthEide) August 6, 2024-The International Criminal court has accepted the requests of 70 states, organizations and individuals to file amicus briefs regarding ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan’s decision to seek arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders (of the three, only Yahya Sinwar remains alive). In January, Netanyahu’s cabinet approved a plan to transfer to Norway Palestinian tax funds that are designated by the Palestinian Authority (PA) for transfer to its staff in Gaza, but which Israel has refused to release out of concern that they could reach Hamas.Following Norway’s recognition of a Palestinian state, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for voiding the mechanism set up with Norway and on Sunday he ordered the seizure of around NIS 100 million ($26 million) of tax funds meant to be transferred to the Palestinian Authority, saying that the money will be given to the families of terror victims. On Wednesday, the Ynet news site reported that the Foreign Ministry would end this arrangement with Norway over the issue.Agencies and Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Austrian official: IS supporter planned suicide attack at Taylor Swift show-Suspect confessed to terror plot, ‘thinks it is right to kill infidels’; jihadi material found at home of 2nd suspect, who was employed at venue days before now-canceled concerts-By Agencies 8 August 2024, 2:19 pm

A 19-year-old Islamic State sympathizer arrested in Austria was planning a suicide attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna designed to kill many people, an intelligence agency said on Thursday.“He said he intended to carry out an attack using explosives and knives,” domestic intelligence agency head Omar Haijawi-Pirchner told a news conference. “His aim was to kill himself and a large number of people during the concert, either today or tomorrow.”The Associated Press said the suspect is an Austrian with North Macedonian roots.Meanwhile, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said Thursday that authorities found Islamic State and al-Qaeda material at the home of the second suspect, a 17-year-old Austrian citizen with Turkish and Croatian roots.“The situation was serious, the situation is serious. But we can also say: A tragedy was prevented,” he said.Austrian security authorities said the second suspect was arrested by special police forces near the stadium where the concerts were supposed to take place this week. He was employed a few days ago by a facility company providing services at the venue during the concerts. No other suspects are being sought after the two were arrested. The suspects’ names were not released in line with Austrian privacy rules.Austrian security officials told reporters at a press conference in Vienna that the 19-year-old, who is the main suspect, fully confessed his attack plans. They said he was “clearly radicalized in the direction of the Islamic State and thinks it is right to kill infidels.”The cancellations of three sold-out concerts this week devastated Swifties across the globe, many of whom had dropped thousands of euros on travel and lodging in Austria’s expensive capital city for the sold-out Eras Tour shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Ernst Happel Stadium, which sat empty Thursday morning aside from media filming outside.Europe is enamored by the American superstar, with the German town of Gelsenkirchen renaming itself “Swiftkirchen” before its mid-July concerts.Austria’s Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler wrote on social platform X: “For many, a dream has been shattered today. On three evenings in Vienna, tens of thousands of #Swifties should have celebrated life together.”“I am very sorry that you were denied this. Swifties stick together, hate and terror can’t destroy that,” Kogler wrote late Wednesday.

August 7, 2024 - IAI Kfir: Israel's Classic Fighter Jet No Nation Wanted to Ever Fight

The Israel Aerospace Industries Kfir ("Lion Cub") is a multi-role fighter developed after Israel's access to the French Mirage 5 was blocked due to an arms embargo. Israel reverse-engineered the Mirage, resulting in the Nesher and later the Kfir, powered by a General Electric J79 engine.
by Harrison Kass Follow Harrison Kass on Twitter L-Summary and Key Points: The Israel Aerospace Industries Kfir ("Lion Cub") is a multi-role fighter developed after Israel's access to the French Mirage 5 was blocked due to an arms embargo. Israel reverse-engineered the Mirage, resulting in the Nesher and later the Kfir, powered by a General Electric J79 engine.

Kfir--The Kfir entered service with the Israeli Air Force in 1975 but was soon overshadowed by American F-15s and F-16s.-It remains in service with several other countries despite its brief prominence in Israel's military. The Israel Aerospace Industries Kfir (“Lion Cub”) is an all-weather multi-role fighter with a peculiar history. Before the development of the Kfir, the Israeli Air Force relied heavily on the Dassault Mirage IIIC, a French delta-winged fighter. In the 1960s, the Israelis and French enjoyed a harmonious relationship. The Mirage IIIC was in fact tailored to the needs of the IAF, and the Israelis found the aircraft satisfactory, at least with respect to air superiority missions. But the Mirage IIIC’s limited range meant the jet could not conduct many of the ground-attack missions the Israelis wanted to execute. The Israelis sought a more versatile airframe, so they pushed their French allies to begin developing the Mirage 5.The Mirage 5-Dassault, the French aerospace manufacturer responsible for the Mirage IIIC, began working on a modified version – an aircraft that would become the Mirage 5. Dassault removed the avionics that were located behind the IIIC’s cockpit, allowing for increased fuel capacity and reduced maintenance costs. The result was a fair-weather, ground-attack version of the Mirage IIIC. By 1968, Dassault had built 50 Mirage 5s – all intended for Israel, which had paid for the airframes. But geopolitical circumstances changed swiftly. Newly inaugurated French President Charles de Gaulle made efforts to repair relations between France and the Arab world. De Gaulle retracted the French claim on Algeria, and he cut ties with Israel. The French government imposed an arms embargo against Israel, which would never receive the Mirage 5s they had already paid for. Israel did not sit idly by – it could not afford to lose its air superiority advantage to adversaries who were being equipped with increasingly sophisticated Soviet fighters. Industrial Espionage-The Israelis used spies to gather the technical specifications for the Mirage 5 airframe and engine. With the stolen tech specs, Israel was able to reverse-engineer the Mirage 5, resulting in the IAI Nesher. The Nesher itself was upgraded, resulting in the Kfir. The Kfir used a Bedek-built General Electric J79 engine, which provided 11,900 pounds of thrust dry, and 17,900 pounds of thrust with afterburners. The engine allowed for a maximum speed of 1,520 miles per hour and a combat range of 477 miles. The Kfir’s service ceiling was 58,010 feet, with a rate of climb measuring 45,900 feet per minute. For armament, the Kfir carried two Rafael-built 30mm DEFA 553 cannons with 140 rounds of ammunition each; a variety of unguided air-to-ground rockets; missiles including the AIM-9 Sidewinder, Shafrir Aam, Shrike Anti-Radiation Missile, and AGM-65 Maverick; plus, plenty of bombs. In all, the Kfir could carry a payload exceeding six tons.Entering Service With the IAF-The Kfir entered service with the Israeli Air Force in 1975. Two years later, the aircraft entered combat for the first time, striking a training camp in Lebanon. In 1979, the Kfir earned its only air-to-air victory when it shot down a Syrian MiG-21. Despite the lengths to which the Israelis went to obtain and develop the Kfir, the jet was not the IAF’s primary fighter for very long. By the time Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982, it relied on the U.S. for air power, and the IAF imported the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon for air superiority roles. The Kfir was relegated to secondary status, conducting unescorted strike missions. By the 1990s, the Israelis began retiring the Kfir. Kfir-The Kfir is still in service today in air forces that rely on outdated airframes, including Colombia, Ecuador, and Sri Lanka. The Kfir is curious for its notable development. Its less remarkable operational history is somewhat anticlimactic.

Nagasaki mayor defends Israel snub at A-bomb memorial.

Tokyo, Aug 8 (AFP) Aug 08, 2024-Nagasaki's mayor said Thursday it was "unfortunate" that US and British ambassadors have refused to attend a ceremony marking the 1945 atomic bombing of the Japanese city because Israel was snubbed. But he defended the decision not to invite Israel to Friday's annual event, repeating that it was "not political" but to avoid possible protests related to the Gaza conflict."It is unfortunate that they have communicated to us that their ambassadors are not able to attend," Shiro Suzuki told reporters."We made a comprehensive decision not for political reasons. We want to conduct a smooth ceremony in a peaceful and solemn environment."On August 9, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, killing 74,000 people including many who survived the explosion but died later from radiation exposure. This came three days after the first nuclear bomb on Hiroshima that killed 140,000 people.Japan announced its surrender in World War II on August 15, 1945.The United States, Britain, France, Italy and the European Union -- plus reportedly Canada and Australia -- are all sending diplomats below ambassador level to the ceremony.Only the US and British embassies made an explicit link to Nagasaki's decision not to invite Israel's ambassador Gilad Cohen, although a source told AFP that Italy's move was also a direct consequence. In Washington, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the United States believed it was "important that the Israeli ambassador be invited as the ambassadors of other countries have been invited, that no country should have been singled out"."I think our position on it and our respect for Japan when it comes to this anniversary is well-documented, and goes beyond -- far beyond -- the ambassador not attending one event," Miller said.US ambassador Rahm Emanuel, who was former president Barack Obama's chief of staff, plans to go to a commemoration at a temple in Tokyo instead. An Obama-named ambassador to Japan, John Roos, in 2010 became the first US representative to attend the Hiroshima commemoration and followed suit in Nagasaki two years later.Obama visited Hiroshima in 2016. The United States has never apologised for the bombings, the only nuclear attacks in history. The British embassy said leaving out Israel created "an unfortunate and misleading equivalency with Russia and Belarus -- the only other countries not invited to this year's ceremony". Germany echoed that position.A spokesperson for the French embassy called Suzuki's decision "regrettable and questionable".Cohen, who attended a similar memorial ceremony in Hiroshima on Tuesday, said last week that the Nagasaki decision "sends a wrong message to the world".On Thursday Cohen thanked "all the countries that have chosen to stand with Israel and oppose its exclusion from the Nagasaki Peace Ceremony.""Thank you for standing with us on the right side of history," Cohen said on X, formerly Twitter. mac-hih-stu-sct/sst

Hiroshima remembers A-bomb victims as 'global tragedies' unfold.

Tokyo, Aug 6 (AFP) Aug 06, 2024-The mayor of Hiroshima said Tuesday that wars in Ukraine and Gaza were deepening fear and distrust worldwide, on the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombing that devastated the Japanese city.Kazumi Matsui made a sombre speech at a memorial event to commemorate the victims of the US nuclear attack on August 6, 1945 that left around 140,000 people dead."Russia's protracted invasion of Ukraine and the worsening situation between Israel and Palestine are claiming the lives of countless innocent people and shattering normal life", he said."These global tragedies are deepening distrust and fear among nations, reinforcing the public assumption that to solve international problems we have to rely on military force, which we should be rejecting."Days after the 1945 Hiroshima attack, a second US nuclear bomb hit Nagasaki in southwest Japan, killing around 74,000 people. The two strikes led to the end of World War II, and to this day Japan remains the only country to be hit by atomic weapons in wartime.During Tuesday's ceremony, dignitaries including Prime Minister Fumio Kishida -- all clad in black suits -- bowed deeply and laid wreaths at the memorial cenotaph featuring the inscription "rest in peace".Today, Hiroshima is a thriving metropolis of 1.2 million people, but the ruins of a domed building stand in the city centre as a stark reminder of the attack's horrors. For the third year running, Russia and Belarus were not invited to the ceremony because of the Ukraine crisis. It was the city's first peace memorial since Israel launched a military offensive in Gaza last year following an attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas on the country. The Israeli ambassador attended the ceremony as usual, but according to local media, Hiroshima has never invited a Palestinian representative."That an invitation wasn't extended to Palestine is shocking", the Permanent General Mission of Palestine to Japan said on social media platform X last month.A city official told AFP in June that Hiroshima had called for a "ceasefire as soon as possible and resolution through dialogue" in its invitation letter to Israel.Israel's ambassador has not, however, been invited to the Nagasaki peace ceremony this year.Nagasaki has said the decision was not politically motivated, but rather taken to avoid any unexpected trouble.tmo/kaf/cwl

US F-22 stealth warplanes arrive in Middle East.

Washington, Aug 8 (AFP) Aug 08, 2024-Advanced American F-22 stealth warplanes arrived in the Middle East on Thursday, the US military said, as Washington boosts its forces in the region ahead of an expected Iranian counterattack on Israel. The deployment is part of "force posture changes in the region to mitigate the possibility of regional escalation by Iran or its proxies," US Central Command said on social media, without specifying the number or exact location of the planes. The Pentagon said last week that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had ordered assets including additional warships and a fighter squadron to the region.Seven American personnel were wounded in a rocket attack in Iraq earlier this week that Washington blamed on an Iran-backed militia group. And Tehran and its allies are expected to launch an attack on Israel in retaliation for the killing of top Hamas and Hezbollah figures in strikes last week either blamed on or claimed by Israel. The killings are among the most serious in a series of tit-for-tat attacks that have heightened fears of a regional conflagration stemming from the Gaza war.

Russian space agency says break with West cost $2.1 bn-by AFP Staff Writers

Moscow (AFP) Aug 5, 2024-Russia's space agency on Monday said the break with the West following Russia's offensive in Ukraine had cost it nearly 180 billion rubles ($2.1 billion). As part of sanctions against Moscow following the start of Russia's campaign, Western countries broke off partnerships with Roscosmos in the space sector."The termination of contracts by unfriendly countries cost Roscosmos 180 billion rubles," Andrei Yelchaninov, deputy head of the Roscosmos agency, was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying. One of the collaborations what was halted was the cooperation on a planned joint mission to explore Mars with the European Space Agency.Roscosmos also suspended launches of its Soyuz rockets from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.Yelchaninov said the agency planned to make up for the lost revenues by doing more business with countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East."As for the returning to the volume of exports we had before sanctions, we are setting this target," he said."But this is a long-term project, since competition is strong on all these new markets. But if we penetrate the markets correctly, the prospects are very good."Russia's space sector has struggled with financing problems, corruption scandals and setbacks such as the loss of the Luna-25 lunar module in August 2023.

Turkey plans to build its own anti-missile defence system-by AFP Staff Writers

Ankara (AFP) Aug 7, 2024-Turkey plans to build its own anti-missile system, which it has dubbed "Steel Dome", the president of the country's defence industry agency said on Wednesday."Our national 'Steel Dome' project will allow us to integrate our air defence systems, our sensors and our weapons in a single network," Haluk Gorgun, president of the SSB agency, said in a video. The project will be led by state-owned defence companies such as Aselsan, Roketsan and MKE, as well as by public research group Tubitak Sage.According to Turkish public television TRT Haber, Steel Dome is intended to be an umbrella covering Turkish airspace and responding to threats "from the lowest to the highest altitudes" as well as from short to long range.SSB would not provide more details about the project when contacted by AFP.Turkey has recently become a major defence exporter, particularly for drones, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a major supporter of the industry.bg/gv/imm

Beijing Institute of Technology Unveils New Design for Satellite Mega Constellations by Simon Mansfield.

Sydney, Australia (SPX) Aug 06, 2024-Researchers at the Beijing Institute of Technology have developed an innovative method for designing satellite mega constellations aimed at enhancing low Earth orbit (LEO) observations. This new approach divides the constellation into two types of satellites: basic satellites and accompanying satellites, forming groups that are evenly distributed around the globe. The design method focuses on ensuring that each basic satellite orbits the Earth a specified number of times within a set number of days while considering gravitational perturbations. This results in a highly efficient arrangement of satellites that cover the Earth's surface uniformly. The process involves calculating the number of orbital planes needed based on the ground coverage width of a satellite group and determining the number of satellites per orbital plane based on the mission's maximum response time.Role of Accompanying Satellites.Accompanying satellites orbit alongside the basic satellites, maintaining relative positions that form elliptical trajectories. Their arrangement ensures that imaging and observation tasks are carried out efficiently, covering more ground with fewer gaps.Optimization and Simulation for Precision-To achieve the most effective configuration, the researchers used advanced algorithms to optimize the orbits. This involved a detailed iterative process to minimize differences in orbital nodes and maintain precise relative positions over time.Numerical simulations validated the method, using specific parameters such as an orbital inclination of 66 , zero eccentricity, and a regression coefficient of 15. The simulation demonstrated rapid convergence towards optimal configurations, ensuring stable and reliable satellite operations.Impressive Simulation Results-The simulation results were notable, with a final constellation consisting of 891 satellites. Of these, 81 basic satellites were each surrounded by 10 accompanying satellites, providing comprehensive coverage of areas outside the polar regions within a 35-minute timeframe. The study confirms that this new design method for satellite mega constellations can significantly improve LEO observation capabilities, offering a robust and efficient solution for global satellite coverage.

Israeli jets set off sonic booms in Beirut as Nasrallah threatens ‘strong’ reprisal-Sirens ring out in northern communities and residents told to stay near shelters; terror group leader says Hezbollah, Iran ‘obligated’ to respond to killings of Shukr, Haniyeh-By Emanuel Fabian,ToI Staff, Gianluca Pacchiani-and Agencies 6 August 2024, 8:58 pm

Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier over Beirut just ahead of a pugnacious speech by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Tuesday afternoon, as northern residents were told to stay close to bomb shelters amid a series of cross-border attacks from Lebanon.Several local authorities, including the northern city of Nahariya, issued the warnings, despite no such directive having been issued by the IDF Home Front Command, and gave the all-clear a short while later.Local authorities have regularly issued their own recommendations to civilians amid near-daily cross-border attacks from Hezbollah since October 8. The Iran-backed group has vowed retaliation for Israel’s killing of its commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut last week, prompting worries of a major escalation that could tip into a full-blown war.At the beginning of his televised address on Tuesday to mark the one-week anniversary of Shukr’s death, Nasrallah charged that the sonic booms set off by Israeli planes flying low over Beirut were intended as a provocation that he brushed off as “petty.”The loud booms sent residents rushing to open their windows to prevent the glass from shattering or standing on their balconies to get a glimpse of the planes flying over. There was no comment from the IDF.The Hezbollah leader said that his terror group cannot be expected to react to Shukr’s assassination the same way it has reacted to other killings in the past months.Breaking-Loudest sonic boom I have ever heard in the past few weeks over Beirut. Jets were right above us in downtown BeirutThis is what we saw pic.twitter.com/rkMU4umbG6— Nafiseh Kohnavard (@nafisehkBBC) August 6, 2024“We have not sought escalations until now, we have been fighting in support of Gaza but keeping in mind the Lebanese national interest,” Nasrallah said. “Every time one of our commanders was killed, our response was heightened but always measured.“But an assassination of a top leader in the Dahia [Hezbollah’s stronghold in southern Beirut] must be treated differently,” he added.“Our response is coming, God willing, from us and the axis of resistance — and it will be strong.”Rocket and drone alert sirens rang out in northern communities near the Lebanon border multiple times on Tuesday afternoon, though a Hezbollah source told Reuters that “the response to the assassination of commander Fuad Shukr has not yet come.”The strike that killed the Hezbollah commander last week marked the second time Israel struck the southern suburbs of Beirut in 10 months of hostilities. The Iran-backed group says its attacks are in support of Palestinians in Gaza amid Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas. The strike came a few hours before Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an explosion in Iran, prompting the Islamic Republic to vow to “punish” Israel for both assassinations.Israel took responsibility for Shukr’s killing but has not commented on Haniyeh’s death, other than to say that it had not carried out any other airstrikes in the Middle East that night. Some foreign reports have said Mossad killed Haniyeh by planting a bomb in the room he was staying in at a Tehran guesthouse. With Israelis bracing for a coordinated attack and American diplomats furiously scrambling in hopes of curtailing the fallout from an expected reprisal by Iran and its proxies, Nasrallah said that Jerusalem was right to be afraid of an attack from Tehran and its “axis of resistance.”He called on Iranian proxies in Iraq and Yemen to keep supporting Gaza despite the “difficulties and the sacrifices,” and urged other Arab countries to “wake up to the danger that threatens the region.”“The Israeli danger cannot be faced by burying our heads in the sand, because the enemy has no red lines,” he said while maintaining that Iran was “obligated” to join the battle and respond to “whatever the consequences” after Haniyeh’s assassination.Iran “finds itself obligated to respond, and the enemy is waiting in a great state of dread,” Nasrallah said, adding that Hezbollah would respond alone or in the context of a unified response from all of the Iran-backed groups in the region. He also said that the uncertainty regarding the timing of the response constituted “part of the punishment” for Israel. He charged that the IDF was no longer the invincible power that beat the greatest Arab armies in past wars, as today it has to rely on the support of other countries to defend itself. In April, a massive drone and missile attack from Iran was foiled by a coalition that reportedly comprised Israel, the US, Britain, France, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The IDF said that Hezbollah launched more than 30 rockets at northern Israel on Tuesday evening, directly after Nasrallah’s speech. All of the rockets fired in the first barrage of some 20 rockets, aimed at the northern Golan Heights, struck open areas, according to the IDF. A short while later, another 10 rockets were fired at the Galilee Panhandle. The IDF said that some of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome and that several impacts were reported, some of which sparked fires. There were no injuries reported in the attacks, which came after 19 people were injured earlier in the day, one of them critically, in a Hezbollah drone attack on the Western Galilee. The IDF also said that a Hezbollah weapons depot in southern Lebanon’s Kafr Kila, where several operatives were spotted entering, was struck by fighter jets earlier on Tuesday. In a separate incident, the IDF said it carried out a drone strike against a Hezbollah cell leaving a rocket launching site used in an attack Tuesday morning on Misgav Am.Other buildings used by Hezbollah in Ayta ash-Shab, and a rocket launcher in Abu Shash, were targeted in additional strikes, the IDF added.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war there. So far, the skirmishes have resulted in 25 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.Hezbollah has named 399 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 70 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.

Analysis-IDF chief’s multifront battle — to maintain army values, free hostages, tackle Iran-Herzi Halevi is operating beyond full stretch: He couldn’t even get to a meeting to okay the strike on Hezbollah’s top commander, diverting instead to a base under attack at home-Amir Bar Shalom-By Amir Bar Shalom 6 August 2024, 5:06 pm

Last Thursday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi visited the forces holding the Netzarim Corridor, which runs across the Gaza Strip between its north and its south. The reserve soldiers he met had arrived at the corridor two weeks earlier and already experienced a number of combat incidents. For most of them, this was the third round of reservist service since the war began, on October 7.Once operational updates had been completed, Halevi asked the soldiers to gather in a circle. It was close to midnight. The weather was humid. The soldiers were sweaty and tired. Low-altitude drones, securing the forces, buzzed loudly over their heads. This was the setting for a candid conversation between Halevi and the men around him. After a round of introductions and general talk about how things were going, what was happening at their homes, and so on, Halevi brought up the incidents at the Sde Teiman and Beit Lid army bases last week, where dozens of far-right protesters – including MKs and at least one minister – broke in after nine reservists were arrested on suspicion of torturing and abusing a suspected Hamas terrorist at the Sde Teiman detention facility. Some of the soldiers shifted uncomfortably. Some of them were wearing yarmulkes, others not. Those who spoke condemned the break-ins. One also noted, “Here in Gaza, I have no idea what my peers have under their helmets: A kippah or a rasta.”The chief of staff continued to focus on the break-ins. Since they occurred, he has often spoken about “turning the bowl upside down” – that is, the fast, confusing transition from facing a terrorist who must be killed in battle to a prisoner of war who, immediately after he has surrendered, must be dealt with in accordance with the law.Halevi is extremely troubled by the July 29 events at Sde Teiman and Beit Lid, perhaps even more so than by the suspicions leveled against the reservists alleged to have abused the Gaza terror suspect. On the evening that the two IDF camps were breached by Jewish rioters, Halevi was on his way to approve plans for the assassination in Beirut of Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr, which took place the next night. Halevi didn’t make it to his meeting – instead, he drove straight to Beit Lid, while ordering the immediate deployment of three infantry battalions to secure the military court complex inside that base, where the accused reservists had been taken for questioning. The IDF does not talk about this openly, but that evening it lost its trust in the Israel Police – which was slow to arrive and to disperse the rioters at both bases. To date, no suspect has been arrested. The initial protest was organized by the Jerusalem-based La Familia organization, a radical right-wing grouping of ostensible Beitar Jerusalem soccer fans. The organization is considered close to National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, head of the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, who oversees the police force. After violence broke out at a soccer match between Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Tel Aviv, a few days before Hamas invaded and carried out the October 7 massacre, Ben Gvir had told Army Radio, “There is over-enforcement against La Familia.”This lack of trust by the IDF in the police ultimately led to the unprecedented situation at Beit Lid in which the Nahal Brigade – an elite infantry unit that had just finished a stint fighting in Rafah – was deployed at a base in central Israel to protect it from far-right Israeli rampagers. In other words, the IDF has entered the law enforcement vacuum. A separate break-in of ultra-Orthodox extremists at the IDF’s Tel Hashomer recruitment base on Tuesday underlines that the challenge is ongoing.Halevi ended his meeting with the soldiers deployed at the Netzarim Corridor last week with a foundational instruction: “Just as you practice shooting, just as you practice your use of tanks, you have to practice values.”Barnea changes his stance-Such comments by Halevi also connect to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with the IDF chief of staff and the other heads of the security establishment a day earlier, which became heated to the point of shouting. One element links Halevi’s huddle with the soldiers in Gaza and that bitter meeting: the widening gap between the defense establishment on one side, and the prime minister and some of his ministers on the other. For several months now, Halevi and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar have been leading the argument that Israel can and must reach a deal to release the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. In this regard, Halevi has not lost hope of convincing Netanyahu – and the issue comes up in almost every conversation between the two.Until about three weeks ago, Halevi and Bar were at odds with Mossad chief David Barnea, who had broadly aligned himself with the prime minister’s frequent changes and hardening positions in the negotiations. Their frustration with Barnea was muted during high-level meetings, but it was made public, mostly via anonymous sources. That changed, however, with the last meeting in Rome, two weeks ago, where the Mossad chief conveyed Israel’s new position paper, which indeed toughened the Israeli stance since the previous Israeli proposal that was publicly welcomed by US President Joe Biden at the end of May. Barnea, after Rome, joined the call for an immediate deal.Wednesday’s shouting match marked a new low in the long-running face-off between the security chiefs and the prime minister. At their meeting, all the security chiefs demanded that the prime minister mark a clear path for them – deal or no deal. Netanyahu’s response — according to a report on Channel 12 – was to label them “weak.”Harder to enlist the US-At this time of writing, it is not yet clear what the combined response of Iran and Hezbollah to the killings of Shukr — carried out by Israel — and of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh — blamed by Iran on Israel — will look like. The IDF is planning ahead, and on Monday its discussions dealt with possible scenarios and the responses to them – including a scale of how and when Israel will respond to a number of potential scenarios, from very pessimistic cases of multiple casualties on the home front, through significant damage to civilian and military infrastructures, to stopping the attacks while absorbing minor injuries. At the pessimistic end of the scale, two questions were examined:1. Should Israel – especially in the Lebanese arena – strike a preemptive blow if it turns out that Hezbollah is planning massive, precise fire at population centers and strategic facilities? 2. Should Israel hold off retaliation against an Iranian strike, or take immediate action to end the incident? The answer to these questions depends on the depth and intensity of the damage to Israel. The Americans are already trying to limit Israel’s counter-reaction, notwithstanding Washington’s commitment to protecting Israel. This commitment has been expressed over recent days in statements made by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Biden, the arrival in Israel on Monday of US Army Central Command head General Michael Kurilla, and the deployment of a significant naval force toward the Persian Gulf and the eastern Mediterranean Sea.Some discerning pundits have noticed that this time around, however, it was a little harder to harness the United States to take part in preparations for a potential Iranian-Hezbollah attack. After Austin’s latest conversation with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, moreover, the US defense secretary’s bottom line was that a deal with Hamas has to be made. Gallant has no argument with that; Austin was directing his comment at Netanyahu.Three times the United States has come to Israel’s aid since the war broke out: on October 7, in the Iranian missile attack in April, and amid the current tensions. Every time, the White House seems to be getting less enthused. It may be a coincidence, but at previous high points of crisis, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Austin have visited. This time, Washington sufficed with sending Kurilla.Netanyahu insists that Israel conduct an independent policy regarding both the negotiations for the release of hostages and the handling of Iran and its proxies. But at the same time, Israel is also asking for the protection of the US-led international coalition. These two do not always go together, especially when the United States is seeking to manage risks rather than respond to them. The current confrontation, marked by the combining of multiple fronts threatening and targeting Israel, requires a broad, full-fledged international coalition. That in turn requires a willingness by Israel to consider the interests of the other countries in the alliance. So far, Netanyahu has managed to just about walk this tightrope. It’s not certain he will succeed a fourth time, if there is one.Translated and edited from the original Hebrew on The Times of Israel’s sister site Zman Yisrael.

Israel said to believe Hezbollah will respond before Iran to deaths of terror chiefs-CNN says terror group seems set to strike ‘independent’ of Iran, which other reports suggest may be reconsidering; Israel said to warn of disproportionate response if civilians hurt-By ToI Staff and Agencies 8 August 2024, 5:03 am

Israeli officials increasingly believe it will be Hezbollah, rather than Iran, that will be first to launch a major attack on Israel in the coming days, according to media reports on Wednesday, while Tehran was reported to be possibly reconsidering its threatened large-scale onslaught.Citing two sources familiar with intelligence on the matter, CNN reported that Hezbollah appears increasingly set to act against Israel “independent” of an expected Iranian response to the recent killings of the Lebanese terror group’s top military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. One of the sources said Hezbollah was moving at a faster clip than Iran in readying an attack, which it looks set to launch in the coming days. According to the US news network, multiple officials said Iran seems to still be hashing out its retaliation plans, with one US military official quoted as saying Tehran has already made some — but not all — of the expected preparations for a large-scale attack against Israel. The second source said that unlike Iran, Hezbollah can likely initiate an attack with few to no warning signs, as Lebanon borders Israel. The source added that it’s unclear how or if the Islamic Republic and its Lebanese proxy are cooperating on a potential attack, and that some officials believe they may not be on the same page about how to proceed.Meanwhile, an unsourced report by Channel 12 news said Israel has conveyed to both Hezbollah and Iran that any harm to civilians in Israel during their promised retaliation for the killing of top terror leaders will be a red line, which will lead to a disproportio nate response. The report said that Israel was readying for potential attempts to attack civilian infrastructure or Israeli-linked targets abroad, though there is currently no intelligence suggesting plots against specific locations overseas.Meanwhile, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant took part in Home Front Command deliberations on Wednesday about when to issue an advance warning to Israeli citizens and update its public guidance, but did not reach a decision on a specific time due to concerns about exposing intelligence sources.Defense sources have said that citizens will be looped in once Israel figures out an attack is underway. On the Iranian side, US officials quoted by Politico late Wednesday echoed previous reports that Iran may be reconsidering launching a large-scale attack on Israel, following efforts from the Biden administration to work with Middle East allies to press Tehran to rethink its plans.Iran has been warned that a multi-pronged attack on Israel could lead to a direct confrontation between the two countries, according to the report. The officials also noted that Iran had been urged to recalibrate its response to the killing of Haniyeh given that it now seems likely he was killed in a covert operation with a bomb placed in his room in Tehran and not in a direct missile strike, as originally believed. Haniyeh was killed “in Iran by Iranians,” the former chief of staff and ex-war cabinet observer MK Gadi Eisenkot of the National Unity party said in a Channel 12 interview on Wednesday. The officials quoted by Politico said that they believe Iran will nevertheless respond, but it may be more measured and not immediately.A report by Iran International said President Masoud Pezeshkian had implored the country’s supreme leader to avoid a direct attack on Israel, warning that an escalation could lead Israel to devastate infrastructure and energy targets and cripple the economy. The report, which cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the matter and which could not be independently confirmed, said Pezeshkian told Ali Khamenei that a war could deepen citizens’ discontent with the regime and even bring about Iran’s collapse. The report said Khamenei was noncommittal at the meeting.UK and Egypt ask airlines to avoid Iran and Lebanon-Amid the growing anticipation of an attack, Britain and Egypt asked their airlines on Wednesday to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace over fears of a possible broader conflict in the region.Britain’s advisory to its airlines to avoid Lebanon’s airspace came hours after Egypt instructed all of its airlines to avoid Iran’s airspace for three hours in the early morning on Thursday. Many airlines globally are revising their schedules to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace while also calling off flights to Israel and Lebanon.Flights through conflict zones became a prominent industry safety issue a decade ago after Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board.Egyptian airlines have already been avoiding Iran’s airspace. The new directive applies to all Egyptian carriers, including charter operators and other smaller airlines, said Mark Zee, founder of OPSGROUP – a membership-based organization that shares flight-risk information.Egypt’s NOTAM, a safety notice provided to pilots, said the instruction would be in effect for three hours Thursday morning.“All Egyptian carriers shall avoid overflying Tehran (Flight Information Region). No flight plan will be accepted overflying such territory,” the notice said, referring to the three-hour period specified.Egypt’s civil aviation ministry later confirmed on Wednesday the notice was intended to reduce flight safety risks in light of a notification it received from Iranian authorities.“Military exercises will be conducted over Iranian airspace on August 7 from 11:30 to 14:30 and from 4:30 to 7:30 on August 8 Tehran time,” the statement said. The ministry’s press statement was issued after an unnamed source was quoted by the state-affiliated Al Qahera News TV as saying that Iranian authorities had said to avoid flying in the country’s airspace because of “military exercises.”Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani spoke with the Egyptian foreign minister by phone on Wednesday, according to the Iranian foreign ministry’s website. In 2020, Iranian air defense units said they mistakenly shot down Ukrainian International Airlines flight PS752, killing all 176 people on board, shortly after it took off from Tehran airport. At the time, they were on heightened alert because of increased tensions with the United States. On Sunday, Jordanian authorities asked all airlines landing at its airports to carry 45 minutes’ worth of extra fuel.Emanuel Fabian contributed to this report.

HOARDING OF GOLD AND SILVER

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.(IN 1 HR THE STOCK MARKETS WORLDWIDE WILL CRASH)
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed:(CONFISCATED) their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.(6-6-6) A NUMBER SYSTEM

REVELATION 16:1-2
1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

I KNOW THIS MARK WILL BE A MICROCHIP IMPLANT UNDER THE SKIN. According to ancient oriental usage, slaves and soldiers bore the name or stamp of their master or commander branded or pricked (cut) into their bodies to indicate what master or general they belonged to, and there were even some devotees who stamped themselves in this way with the token of their gods (cf. Deyling, Observations, iii., p. 423ff); hence, τά στίγματα τοῦ (κυρίου so Rec.) Ἰησοῦ, the marks of (the Lord) Jesus, which Paul in Galatians 6:17 says he bears branded on his body, are the traces left there by the perils, hardships, imprisonments, scourgings, endured by him for the cause of Christ, and which mark him as Christ's faithful and approved votary, servant, soldier (see Lightfoots Commentary on Galatians, the passage cited). US to give SK Hynix $450 mn for chip packaging hub-by AFP Staff Writers

Washington (AFP) Aug 6, 2024-The United States said Tuesday it has agreed to provide up to $450 million to South Korean semiconductor firm SK hynix to help build a chip packaging plant in the US state of Indiana. The award is the latest from the US government as it looks to cement its lead in the chip industry -- especially for chips needed for the development of artificial intelligence -- both on national security grounds and also in the face of competition with China.President Joe Biden's administration has previously approved billions in grants to South Korea's Samsung, US titan Intel and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) as it tries to avoid shortages of semiconductors -- the lifeblood of the modern global economy. The agreement with SK hynix, the world's second-largest memory chip maker, offers the company $450 million in proposed direct funding as well as $500 million in proposed loans, the US Commerce Department said in a statement. The SK hynix facility, at the Purdue University Research Park, will house "an advanced semiconductor packaging line" that will manufacture next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, filling "a critical gap" in the US supply chain, the department said.SK hynix dominates the market for HBM semiconductors and is a key supplier for Nvidia, which controls about 80 percent of the global AI chip market. The "high-performance memory chips are crucial components of graphics processing units (GPUs) that train AI systems due to their increased processing power," the department added.SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung said his company looks forward to "establishing a new hub for AI technology" and helping create "a more robust, resilient supply chain for the global semiconductor industry."The Indiana facility is expected to create around 1,000 jobs, the Commerce Department said.bur-sn/sco-Nvidia

What Is a Market Supply Curve? By Staff WriterLast Updated August 04, 2015

In economics, a market supply curve is a model showing the direct relationship between the price of a good or service and the quantity of that good or service supplied to the market by producers. The upward slope of the supply curve shows that as the price of a good or service increases, producers in the market are willing and able to produce more of the good or service for sale to buyers in the market.A market supply curve represents the rational economic behavior of all producers in a competitive market when the market price of a good or service rises or falls and all other potential market influences are held constant. In this context, a change in price is understood as a movement along the supply curve. Supply curves can also shift position.A shift of the supply curve to the right or left is produced by any event, excluding a change in price, that causes producers to offer more or less of a good or service to the market. A shift of the market supply curve can be caused by a change in the cost of raw materials, a change in production technology, a change in the profitability of a closely related good, a change in producer expectations related to future market conditions or a change in the overall number of producers participating in a market.

Mastercard patent filing proposes way to secure biometric template enrollment-Aug 6, 2024, 3:01 pm EDT    | Chris Burt

When a person creates a fingerprint template by pressing their finger against a biometric scanner, the scanner is generally not capable of telling whether each scan is of the same finger of the same person. In unattended biometric enrollment situations, this creates a risk of fraud, with one of the people whose biometrics were combined with another’s posing as them for authentication, according to a new patent application from Mastercard. The patent filing for “Systems and Methods for Preventing Biometric Infringement” has been published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.“Current biometric sensors and registration processes cannot determine whether a single user is performing a biometric registration process, or more than one user is performing the registration process,” the inventors write. “Consequently, two or more users can register their respective biometric feature (e.g., a fingerprint) on a single device during a single registration process. As such, any user that participated in the registration process may be subsequently authenticated by the single stored biometric template or profile. This enables any one of the registered users to perform a fraudulent activity by purporting to be any one of the other registered users.”To address this problem, Mastercard researchers propose extracting two or more elements of the biometric feature from the initial scan, and then validating the template against the next scan. Extracted biometric features (like minutia in the case of fingerprints) are “characterized by type, location, and orientation relative to the coordinate system of the biometric sensor.”The method can be applied to any biometric modality, according to the application.Mastercard has been investing in several different modalities for retail payment, including pilot of its Biometric Checkout Program with iris and face biometrics from PayEye, and palm biometrics in partnership with Ingenico, Fulcrum Biometrics, Fujitsu Frontech and Scanntech. The company remains active in payment cards, however, with a drumbeat of approvals for its fingerprint-enabled Mastercard.

Ethiopia advances towards biometric passport launch with ICAO engagement-Pre-registration now underway-Aug 8, 2024, 5:55 pm EDT    | Chris Burt

Pre-registration and identity verification for biometric passports with embedded microchips is underway in Ethiopia ahead of a launch next year, Fana reports.Officials from the Ethiopian Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS) met with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal for a consultation to ensure the new e-passport is internationally recognized. The consultations also addressed the implementation of technology to use the biometric passport at land borders in a way that complies with ICAO standards.ICAO’s standard for biometric passports is in the midst of an update, and all passport scanners must meet the new standard by the beginning of 2026.ICAO supports capacity-building-Key representatives from the aviation industry, including government minister and ICAO officials, met for the ninth African-Indian Ocean Region (AFI) Aviation Week in Gabon during July to discuss mutual support and collaboration. ICAO’s “No Country Left Behind” project was a central focus at the event, the organization says.“The presence of so many key representatives from States and international and regional organizations is a clear demonstration of the recognition of the importance of aviation in Africa as an enabler for sustainable economic development, and the region’s strong commitment to speak in a single voice in shaping the future of international aviation,” said ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano. The ICAO held talks on the sidelines on capacity-building and implementation with representatives from Chad, Gabon, Uganda and South Africa. Ethiopia has also requested capacity-building assistance from the ICAO to support its passport launch, according to Fana.Preparations advance-The contract for the biometric passport production was awarded to Toppan at the end of last year, and the company broke ground on a new facility in Addis Ababa for passport manufacturing and issuance on May 8. Toppan holds 51 percent in a joint venture, Toppan Gravity Ethiopia, which was formed with Ethiopia’s state printer and two other government entities. The government has raised passport issuance fees ahead of the rollout. The Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS) has set the price for a new passport at 5,000 birr (approximately US$62), and for expedited issuance at ETB25,000 ($311). Replacements of expired or filled passports cost the same, but with an additional cost if a correction is required. Lost passports cost ETB13,000 ($162) to replace.Meanwhile, ICS has been accused to discrimination preventing people from Ethiopia’s Tigrayan ethnic minority from obtaining passports by Human Rights First Ethiopia. The organization produced an investigative report that found inconsistencies in the issuance process and documentation required to obtain a passport, according to Modern Diplomacy. Some Tigrayans have been asked to provide documents from deceased relatives or been labelled foreigners despite evidence to the contrary.

In the report, biometric authentication provider Keyless was recognized for its ATO prevention offerings in banking, amongst other companies. The companies’ inclusion underscores their role in providing biometric technology that safeguard user accounts from increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.

Deepfakes are a lurking ghost, with many unaware of increasing risk-Santander research shows low awareness as Beyond Identity, Veridas, Corsound raise alarm-Aug 8, 2024, 3:11 pm EDT    | Joel R. McConvey

For those in the biometric trenches, deepfakes may seem like an ever-present threat, or at least an effective and unavoidable boogeyman. But new research from Santander says more than half of average people in Britain have never even heard the term, do not understand what the term means, or report being confused by it. Just 17 percent say they could identify a deepfake video. To try and raise awareness, Santander has teamed up with influencer Mr. MoneyJar to create fake videos featuring the financial advisor alongside Santander fraud lead Chris Ainsley, aiming to showcase how good deepfakes have gotten.“Generative AI is developing at breakneck speed, and we know it’s ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ we start to see an influx of scams with deepfakes lurking behind them,” Ainsley says. “We already know fraudsters flood social media with fake investment opportunities and bogus love interests, and unfortunately, it’s highly likely that deepfakes will begin to be used to create even more convincing scams of these types. If something – or someone – appears too good to be true, it’s probably just that.”While many Brits have their head in the (possibly fake) sand, there are plenty who are worried. More than a third of over a third say they have knowingly watched a deepfake, most of them on social media. The biggest worry is that deepfakes will be used in financial scams. Other worries are deepfakes being used to nefariously influence elections, and being used to simulate biometric data. Six in 10 people (59 percent) say the threat of deepfakes has made them more suspicious of what they see or hear.Sometimes, says Mr. MoneyJar – AKA financial advisor Tim Merriman-Johnson – common sense is the best defense.“People don’t tend to broadcast lucrative investment opportunities on the internet,” he says. “If you are ever in doubt as to whether a company or individual is legitimate, you can always search for them on the Financial Conduct Authority Register.”Santander’s tips for spotting deepfakes double down on that point, especially as visual artifacts that still currently appear in deepfakes get refined out of the process, making visual detection with the naked eye effectively impossible. Know the telltale signs of scams and which types are commonly used for fraud, such as investment scams, impersonation fraud and romance scams.“At some point, deepfakes will become impossible to distinguish from real videos, so context is important. Ask yourself the same common-sense questions you do now. Is this too good to be true? If this is real, why isn’t everybody doing this? If this is legitimate, why are they asking me to lie to my family and/or bank?”Beyond Identity offers a RealityCheck for deepfakes on Zoom-Beyond Identity has launched RealityCheck, an identity assurance plugin for Zoom. According to a press release, RealityCheck (a refreshingly clever name in a sea of similar-sounding products) protects organizations from AI-assisted fraud such as impersonation attacks and deepfakes, by certifying the authenticity of Zoom call participants using Authenticator Assurance Level 3 (AAL3) and device security verification.Jasson Casey, CEO of Beyond Identity, says that the rapid rise of deepfakes has made it more urgent for businesses to equip themselves with fraud protection. Evoking recent deepfake cases that led to “devastating results” for the affected parties, he says RealityCheck “focuses on the prevention of AI impersonation attacks and deepfakes in video conferencing applications,” calling it “the first tool developed to purposely address this new type of attack.”“Many organizations do not have in place cybersecurity strategies to combat AI deception attacks,” he says. “They are further challenged by the fact that most deepfake detection tools and end-user training are probabilistic and cannot offer solid guarantees.” RealityCheck, he says, “shifts the focus to authentication assurances to make deterministic claims.”Once it is up and running, the tool applies a badge of dynamic authentication to a user’s camera layer on a Zoom call and displays a side panel with additional data about device and user risk. It also ensures devices meet organizational security standards and continuously verifies and authenticates both users and devices.RealityCheck for Zoom is embedded in Beyond Identity’s Secure Access platform. In addition to preventing fraud, it can be used for ID verification in onboarding, “by delivering verification that the employee is actually on an authorized device and strongly authenticated with phishing-resistant MFA when verifying identity documents over Zoom.”Veridas secures firm positioning in U.S. market, rolls out Voice Shield-Spanish biometrics provider Veridas has announced what a release calls “significant strides in its expansion within the U.S. market,” as its voice authentication product gains pickup in call centers and it rolls out its latest voice fraud prevention tool, Voice Shield, with the support of Scaled Ventures.Voice Shield, it says, is capable of analyzing voice data in milliseconds to provide real-time voice authentication through the use of secure and unchangeable templates that do not store biometric data. It operates effectively regardless of language or script, which makes it optimal for international markets. It requires no pre-enrolment or registration, providing invisible protection that “does not affect the conversion funnel.”Kevin Vreeland, North America General Manager at Veridas, notes that the firm has seen “an incredible surge in our voice authentication customers, growing fivefold in just the past three months.”The company’s collaborations with Scaled Ventures look to multiply that number further, as Veridas aims to solidify its position in the U.S. market. Vreeland calls them “significant milestones for Veridas.”“Our voice biometrics and deepfake detection software are changing the rules for good, providing unparalleled security and convenience,” he says. Noting that Veridas has been “crafting and refining these solutions for years as a vital part of our core offerings,” he says the launch of Voice Shield and the Scaled Venture projects make Veridas “more equipped than ever to protect companies and end-users from the evolving threats of fraud, particularly those arising from the misuse of generative AI and deepfakes.”Corsound AI paper goes deep on voice deepfake detection-Tel Aviv startup Corsound AI, which serves customers in law enforcement, banking and finance, has released a new white paper entitled “How to prevent identity fraud with complete voice deepfake protection.” Promising “insights for financial institutions, banks, telecoms and law enforcement, (among others) for safeguarding data, financial assets and individuals,” the paper further emphasizes the scale of the emerging deepfake threat.“The significant risk posed by voice deepfake-powered fraud cannot be understated,” it says. “In the U.S. alone the number of cases rose by 3,000 percent in 2023 over 2022. And when it comes to voice deepfake-powered fraud 37 percent of organizations worldwide have already been hit.”Voice cloning is a favorite of fraudsters, says the paper, because of its relatively low cost, its effectiveness at lower resolutions, and the maturity of the technology – all of which make detection tough. The paper outlines defense strategies that can help vulnerable entities arm themselves against deepfakes. These include voice intelligence and voice-to-face matching, the latter being an algorithm that promises to be able to match a voice to a particular face, based on tech developed by researchers at MIT’S Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). Corsound AI, the paper notes, presently “constitutes the only offering to provide the critical capability of voice-to-face matching for determining to which face a voice most likely belongs.”Founded in 2021, Corsound is a subsidiary of Cortica, parent company of facial recognition and analysis developer Corsight AI.Startup is the Dr. Manhattan of biometrics, seeing and knowing all-If hyper realistic video deepfakes get us in a corner, Israel-based startup Revealense has a potential solution. A piece in NoCamels quotes Revealense CPO Amit Cohen, who says the firm “analyzes human behavior to help other people make the best decisions about humans.”Its proprietary technology claims to monitor subtle, unconscious behaviors that are “hard to control when interacting with other people,” such as facial movements, voice pitch and heart rate – microbiometrics, if you will, that are indicators of “cognitive and emotional stress.” Per its website, it “operates on non-intrusive video streams and is designed to fit into a wide range of applications that demand verification of human authenticity, data integrity, and exceptional precision.”“Our advanced deep learning neural network evaluates human factors by engaging with the human nervous system about its surroundings, allowing us to accurately assess the mental state and verify information with high precision,” the firm says. The pitch is to the homeland security and mental health care sectors.“There’s a lot of similarity between homeland security and mental care,” says Cohen. “You want to catch the bad guys and you want to help the good guys who need help. And in these two worlds, you have to be very, very accurate – there’s no room for mistakes.”In a sense, Revealense is a perfect foil for the army of invisible fraudsters silently injecting deepfake content into our video and audio interactions – not because it is does what it says, but because it has come on something like a covert organization from a James Bond film, popping up recently with a cache of classified security clients in place. Half the company’s team are trained psychologists. The other half, so to speak, is a retired Israel Defense Forces general, “the advisor for the security applications of the platform.”Cohen promises Revealense is based on “responsible AI” and makes bold claims for the platform’s accuracy. “The bottom line is that the parasympathetic nervous system can never lie, can never be deceptive,” he says. “This is something that is inherent in us all.”

Colombia’s digital identity initiative sets up financial inclusion gains-Aug 8, 2024, 2:55 pm EDT    | Abigail Opiah

Colombia is making strides in financial inclusion, driven by a digital identity initiative that aims to benefit women and marginalized communities. As part of its broader strategy, the Colombian government has launched several key initiatives that are transforming how citizens access financial services, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s journey toward greater economic equity. In November 2023, Colombia introduced Digital Identity 2.0, a system designed to enhance the security and accessibility of digital identities for all citizens. This system leverages advanced biometric technologies, including fingerprint and facial recognition, to create a more secure and inclusive identity framework. By ensuring that every citizen can have a verifiable digital identity, the Colombian government aims to address one of the barriers to financial inclusion. As of July 31, 2024, over five million digital IDs had been issued, enabling Colombian citizens to use these documents as secure digital passports for travel within the Andean region. These IDs also facilitate identification in both physical and digital environments and support virtual transactions, the World Economic Forum (WEF) reports. This move is part of a broader strategy to integrate digital public infrastructure (DPI) into the everyday lives of Colombians. Drawing on global best practices, such as those outlined in the WEF’s recent guidance on digital identity, Colombia has prioritized the creation of inclusive DPI that caters to the needs of marginalized groups. The WEF, in collaboration with the Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP), has called for greater gender equality in the design and implementation of digital public infrastructure. These organizations emphasize that digital identity systems should be built with inclusivity at their core, ensuring that they serve the needs of all citizens, particularly those who are most vulnerable.Empowering women through digital inclusion-The digital identity initiative is having a particularly profound impact on women, who have historically faced more significant barriers to financial inclusion. According to the World Economic Forum, Colombia’s digital inclusion strategy is bolstering financial access for women by providing them with the necessary tools to participate in the digital economy.Women’s access to financial services is being improved through mobile banking, digital wallets, and online financial platforms, all made more secure and accessible by the Digital Identity 2.0 system.Innovative applications-Colombia’s digital identity system is also paving the way for innovative applications beyond traditional financial services. For example, Worldcoin, a global initiative that combines cryptocurrency with digital identity verification, has begun enrolling iris biometrics in two Colombian cities. This initiative aims to further expand access to financial services by providing individuals with a digital identity that can be used globally, offering them new economic opportunities.

Payments go biometric: A closer look at success factors and enabling technology innovations-Aug 8, 2024, 10:30 am EDT    | Infineon Technologies

As we move towards a cashless society shaped by digital payments, the need to protect our digital identities and transactions has never been more important. Biometric payment cards are a promising development in this space with fingerprint authentication rapidly gaining popularity among both banks and customers. It is expected that biometric capabilities will greatly accelerate the uptake of contactless payment cards in general. The global market for biometric cards is on the threshold of an upturn. This trend is reflected in growing user traction, with 77% of consumer respondents who use biometrics on their smartphone or tablet already reporting that they are satisfied with the use of biometric identity authentication. Furthermore, frictionless consumer journey through several novel features implemented on the new generation of biometric payment card is established as another key for the uptake.Authentication and more …Besides the obvious benefits of identification based on unique physical traits, biometric cards offer a wide range of other advantages. They enable a much more convenient user experience. Two-factor authentication could remove the low cap on many contactless transactions, extending the reach of rapid payment processing to all kinds of purchases. It posts even added value for extended use cases like crypto wallet, or Tap2Phone for eCommerce. Two-factor authentication can also increase peace of mind, as it adds a barrier for lost or stolen biometric cards against being easily used by others.  In addition, many cardholders are attracted by the hygiene factor as they no longer have to touch the POS terminal to enter their personal PIN.But it’s not just the biometric element that makes these cards so appealing to users. The cardholder’s fingerprint is extracted and matched on a single Secure Element, where the biometric credentials are also securely stored. This means that fingerprint credentials do not need to be stored on a backend server or centralized database. This enhances data protection and privacy. So with the potential of biometric cards, what’s holding the market back? Let’s take a look at the success factors that are set to drive the popularity of biometric authentication in card payments in the near future.Key success factors for wider adoption-Rollout and widescale uptake of biometric cards hinges on three key success factors:Ease of implementation within existing card production process – with just minor adaptationsCards must be reliable, robust, and long-lasting-Simple, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly card enrollment options-Paving the way for the future of biometric payments-Companies such as Infineon Technologies are offering innovative secured payment solutions that tick all these boxes by combining manufacturability with reliability, security and flexible onboarding. The company is set to expand its market-proven and trusted suite of SECORA™ Pay solutions with SECORA Pay Bio to specifically address the needs of the fast-emerging biometric payment card market. This all-in-one pre-certified payment solution integrates Infineon’s enhanced SLC39B system-on-chip (SoC) Secure Element and Fingerprints‘  FPC1323 sensor, into the Infineon Biometric Coil on Module (BCoM) package, thus leveraging the major advantages of inductive coupling technology. This extensive, multi-layer hardware integration brings ease of production to manufacturers. SECORA Pay Bio makes biometric payment cards as simple and efficient to make as standard dual-interface payment cards – with the added bonus of extremely low failure rates. Integration of the Secure Element (which acts like a vault keeping the user’s credentials safe on the card) with the fingerprint sensor in a single package also makes a significant contribution to the robustness and long-term reliability of biometric payment cards. Deployment is further simplified by compatibility with existing production equipment and pre-approvals according to international payment networks. Not forgetting the user experience: SECORA Pay Bio offers best-in-class contactless performance so cardholders can enjoy the full speed and convenience promised by biometric smart cards. And it supports various enrollment options so issuers and users can use a pre-provisioned sleeve, a smartphone app or in-field transaction to capture fingerprint images. In fact, Infineon recently teamed up with petaFuel, based on their innovative payment product VIMpay, and AUSTRIACARD to launch a real-life pilot project in the field, demonstrating just how easy and frictionless it is for users to enroll with SECORA Pay Bio.This pioneering global user experience (UX) study gave users the option of in-field enrollment at the point-of-sales (PoS) (also known as silent enrollment) and NFC enrollment supported by the innovative enrollment sheet that offered an easy and convenient enrollment experience in the user’s own home – all they needed was the NFC function on their cellphones. Smart phone enrollment makes the need for a sleeve device obsolete, which is typically designed and produced for single use only. With the in-field enrollment option, the user’s fingerprint is captured in different stores when the user starts using the card to authenticate payments. After a set number of transactions, the captured fingerprint credentials are automatically registered with the card. Infineon’s thorough preparation of this UX pilot project enabled a large volume of anonymous data on user behavior to be gathered, providing valuable insights to facilitate further improvements to the company’s biometric payment card offering.Innovations such as SECORA Pay Bio are helping to bridge the all-important gap between rising demand for contactless transactions offering a convenient and trusted user experience and the need for fast and scalable banking card project rollout with a reliable and cost-efficient product. This is a sponsored post. Two powerful earthquakes shake Japan’s southern coast; tsunami warning issued-No immediate reports of damage following 6.9-magnitude quake and 7.1 tremor a minute later, 8 months after major New Year’s earthquake; 2011 nuclear disaster still haunts country-By AFP 8 August 2024, 1:16 pm

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake followed by a 7.1 tremor struck off southern Japan on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said, with the local meteorological agency warning of tsunamis striking coastal areas.Tsunamis of up to one meter (3.2 feet) were expected to arrive or have arrived in some coastal areas in Kyushu and Shikoku islands, broadcaster NHK reported.“Tsunamis will strike repeatedly. Please do not enter the sea or approach the coast until the warning is lifted,” the Japan Meteorological Agency said on X.There were no immediate reports of any damage. The USGS said that the first quake hit at 4:42 pm (0742 GMT) at a depth of 33 kilometers (20.5 miles), about 29 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Miyazaki on Kyushu. The second struck less than a minute later at a depth of 26 meters (85 feet) and was 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) northeast of Miyazaki. The Japanese government set up a special task force in response to the quakes, according to a statement.???????? | NEW IMAGES OF JAPAN EARTHQUAKE ????-The earthquake initially rated 6.9 has been revised to 7.1. Extensive damage reported and a #tsunami risk remains. #Miyazaki #earthquake #Japan pic.twitter.com/PpYecxQIQt— Breaking News (@PlanetReportHQ) August 8, 2024-Sitting on top of four major tectonic plates along the western edge of the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” Japan is one of the world’s most tectonically active countries. The archipelago, home to around 125 million people, experiences about 1,500 jolts every year and accounts for around 18 percent of the world’s earthquakes. The vast majority are mild, although the damage they cause varies according to their location and the depth below the Earth’s surface at which they strike.Still, even large quakes usually cause little damage thanks to special construction techniques and strict building regulations in the world’s number four economy. On New Year’s Day, at least 260 people died after a massive earthquake hit the peninsula, including 30 “quake-linked” deaths as well as those killed directly in the disaster. The January 1 quake and its aftershocks toppled buildings, caused fires and knocked out infrastructure when families were celebrating the new year.Japan has strict construction regulations to ensure buildings can withstand strong earthquakes, and routinely holds emergency drills to prepare for a major jolt. But the country is haunted by the memory of a massive 9.0-magnitude undersea quake off northeastern Japan in March 2011, which triggered a tsunami that left around 18,500 people dead or missing. The 2011 tsunami also sent three reactors into meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear plant, causing Japan’s worst post-war disaster and the most serious nuclear accident since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. In March 2022, a 7.4-magnitude quake off the coast of Fukushima shook large areas of eastern Japan, killing three people. The capital Tokyo was devastated by a huge earthquake a century ago in 1923.

Japan issues first 'megaquake' warning after 7.1-magnitude temblor-Thursday morning's earthquake occurred off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture at 4:42 p.m. local time (3:42 a.m. ET), at a depth of about 18 miles, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.Aug. 8, 2024, 4:29 AM EDT / Updated Aug. 8, 2024, 7:46 AM EDT-By Arata Yamamoto and Jennifer Jett

TOKYO — Japan issued its first warning Thursday about the possibility of a long-feared "megaquake" after a powerful 7.1-magnitude temblor struck off its southern coast, sparking a tsunami advisory but no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries. The earthquake occurred off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture on the main island of Kyushu at 4:42 p.m. local time (3:42 a.m. ET), at a depth of about 18 miles, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.Three people were reported injured, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said, although he added that there had been no blackouts or damage to the water or communications systems reported in the region. Police in Miyazaki Prefecture said there had been 10 reports of damage. Hayashi urged residents to stay away from the coastline. Seismologists held an emergency meeting to analyze whether the quake had affected the nearby Nankai Trough — the source of past devastating earthquakes. The meteorological agency ultimately issued what it called a "mega earthquake caution," assessing that the possibility of a large quake was relatively higher than usual but not that one would definitely occur in the near future. It urged the country's residents to practice increased vigilance for the next week."We ask all citizens to carefully check every new information issued by the government, reconfirm their daily earthquake preparedness, and be ready to evacuate immediately in the event of an earthquake," Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told a news briefing.Earlier, officials issued a tsunami advisory following Thursday morning's quake, warning residents to immediately leave coastal areas of Kochi and Miyazaki prefectures until the warning is lifted. Advisories are issued when the waves are not expected to exceed 1 meter (3.3 feet).Tsunami waves of up to 1.6 feet were detected along parts of Kyushu’s southern coast and the nearby island of Shikoku about a half hour after the quake struck. Japanese broadcaster NHK said Miyazaki Port had reported a surge of 20 inches. That said, most of the damage so far has been relatively light. Police in Miyazaki Prefecture said there have been some reports of landslides and some traffic lights have stopped working. NHK said some windows were broken at the prefecture's airport and that the runway had been temporarily closed for checks.Meanwhile, in neighboring Kagoshima Prefecture, concrete walls collapsed and a wooden house was damaged.Of the people injured across the two prefectures, two are reported to be older women, who were taken to hospital after falling, while another was a female factory worker struck in the back by a falling object. The Nuclear Regulation Authority said all 12 nuclear reactors on Kyushu and Shikoku remain safe. Earthquakes in areas with nuclear power plants have been a major concern since a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami triggered the Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011.Japan sits on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' — a line of seismic faults encircling the Pacific Ocean — and is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries. A temblor there Jan. 1 in Japan’s north-central region of Noto left more than 240 people dead.Arata Yamamoto reported from Tokyo, and Jennifer Jett reported from Hong Kong.

Tropical Depression Debby is causing flooding across Eastern NC. What places are at risk? By Adam Wagner Updated August 08, 2024 8:11 PM

After a second landfall in South Carolina, it’s drenching the Triangle and both Carolinas with rain, plus winds and flood risks. By Thursday afternoon, it was downgraded to a tropical depression. Expand All As Tropical Depression Debby’s rain bands passed through North Carolina, they caused widespread flooding with emergency officials warning that the threat could linger. Bladenboro was one of the places that saw significant flooding, with the National Weather Service issuing a flash flood emergency for the area just before 2 a.m. Thursday. The NWS warning said 4 to 7 inches of rain had fallen quickly, cutting Bladenboro off from the rest of the county and leaving 2 to 3 feet of standing water in parts of the town. Video shared on social media showed sandbags lined in front of the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on Bladenboro’s Main Street, with someone sloshing through ankle-high water as they checked on the store. At 8:55 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a new flood warning for Bladen County, northern Columbus County and southeastern Robeson County based on reports of flooding across that area. “Despite the heaviest rain coming to an end, previously flooded areas are draining into nearby creeks and swamps,” the warning said. Starting Wednesday evening, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office was sharing photos of road flooding throughout the county. Those updates continued as the sun rose Thursday, with flooded roads including low-lying parts of N.C. 133, which parallels the Cape Fear River. As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Debby had brought more than 8 inches of rain to a State Climate Office weather station near Whiteville, with another 7.36 inches falling in Castle Hayne. Other significant rainfall totals included more than 5 inches in Clinton and Kinston. The flooding threat was making its way northwest Thursday morning, with the National Weather Service’s Raleigh office warning that significant runoff from the storm could mean a flash flood threat through at least Friday night. In Harnett County’s Lillington, for example, the Cape Fear River had been 2.2 feet at midnight Thursday. By 8 a.m., the river had risen 4 feet, according to data from the N.C. Flood Inundation Mapping and Alert Network, and it was expected to rise to 21.3 feet by 2 p.m. Thursday. A rain gauge on the Lumber River at Pembroke in Robeson County had recorded 4.36 inches of rain over the last day as of 9 a.m. Thursday. Downstream, the river was starting to swell, rising from 11.4 feet at 7 p.m. Wednesday to 14.4 feet as of 7 a.m., according to FIMAN. 2024 likely to become the hottest year on record-July ends 13-month global heat record streak, but experts warn climate still warming-Slight easing of temperatures relative to a year ago comes as result of natural El Nino climate pattern ebbing; climate agency says July 22, 23 were hottest days ever recorded-By Agencies 8 August 2024, 5:22 pm

Earth’s string of 13 straight months with a new average heat record came to an end in July as the natural El Nino climate pattern ebbed, the European climate agency Copernicus announced Wednesday. But July 2024’s average heat just missed surpassing the July of a year ago, and scientists said the end of the record-breaking streak changes nothing about the threat posed by climate change.“The overall context hasn’t changed,” Copernicus deputy director Samantha Burgess said in a statement. “Our climate continues to warm.”Human-caused climate change drives extreme weather events that are wreaking havoc around the globe, with several examples just in recent weeks. In Cape Town, South Africa, thousands were displaced by torrential rain, gale-force winds, flooding and more. A fatal landslide hit Indonesia’s Sulawesi island. Beryl left a massive path of destruction as it set the record for the earliest Category 4 hurricane. And Japanese authorities said more than 120 people died in record heat in Tokyo. Those hot temperatures have been especially merciless. The globe for July 2024 averaged 16.91 degrees Celsius, which is 0.68°C  above the 30-year average for the month, according to Copernicus. Temperatures were a small fraction lower than the same period last year.It is the second-warmest July and second-warmest of any month recorded in the agency’s records, behind only July 2023. The Earth also had its two hottest days on record, on July 22 and July 23, each averaging about 17.16°C.It is also increasingly likely that 2024 will be the hottest year on record, the EU’s climate monitor said on Wednesday, despite the end of the 13-month streak of monthly temperature records.During July, the world was 1.48°C warmer, by Copernicus’s measurement, than pre-industrial times. That’s close to the warming limit that nearly all the countries in the world agreed to in the 2015 Paris climate agreement: 1.5 degrees.El Nino — which naturally warms the Pacific Ocean and changes weather across the globe — spurred the 13 months of record heat, said Copernicus senior climate scientist Julien Nicolas. That has come to a close, hence July’s slight easing of temperatures. La Nina conditions — natural cooling — aren’t expected until later in the year. But there’s still a general trend of warming.“The global picture is not that much different from where we were a year ago,” Nicolas said in an interview.“The fact that the global sea surface temperature is and has been at record or near record levels for the past more than a year now has been an important contributing factor,” he said. “The main driving force, driving actor behind this record temperature is also the long-term warming trend that is directly related to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.”That includes carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas.July’s temperatures hit certain regions especially hard, including western Canada and the western United States. They baked, with around one-third of the US population under warnings at one point for dangerous and record-breaking heat.In southern and eastern Europe, the Italian health ministry issued its most severe heat warning for several cities in southern Europe and the Balkans. Greece was forced to close its biggest cultural attraction, the Acropolis, due to excessive temperatures. A majority of France was under heat warnings as the country welcomed the Olympics in late July. Also affected were most of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and eastern Antarctica, according to Copernicus. Temperatures in Antarctica were well above average, the scientists say.“Things are going to continue to get worse because we haven’t stopped doing the thing that’s making them worse,” said Gavin Schmidt, climatologist and director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, who wasn’t part of the report.Schmidt noted that different methodologies or calculations could produce slightly different results, including that July may have even continued the streak. The primary takeaway, he said: “Even if the record-breaking streak comes to an end, the forces that are pushing the temperatures higher, they’re not stopping.“Does it matter that July is a record or not a record? No, because the thing that matters, the thing that is impacting everybody,” Schmidt added, “is the fact that the temperatures this year and last year are still much, much warmer than they were in the 1980s, than they were pre-industrial. And we’re seeing the impacts of that change.”People across the globe shouldn’t see relief in July’s numbers, the experts say.“There’s been a lot of attention given to this 13-month streak of global records,” said Copernicus’ Nicolas. “But the consequences of climate change have been seen for many years. This started before June 2023, and they won’t end because this streak of records is ending.”

August 8, 2024 report-Model suggests spewing metal nanorods into Mars' atmosphere could warm the planet by 30 K-by Bob Yirka , Phys.org

The proposed nanoparticle warming method. Credit: Aaron M. Geller, Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics.A small team of engineers and geophysicists from Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Central Florida has found, via modeling, that creating millions of metal nanorods from material on the Martian surface and then blasting them into the atmosphere would be a more efficient way to heat the planet than generating greenhouse gases. Their paper is published in the journal Science Advances.Science fiction writers have for many years envisioned a future when Mars is made habitable through terraforming techniques, allowing humans to survive without the need for special buildings and spacesuits. Recently, scientists have begun looking at the possibility, though most project ideas are far less ambitious.Instead of completely transforming the planet, many are looking at simply warming it up a bit to make it more habitable. Most such ideas have centered on releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere to capture more heat from the sun. Unfortunately, there are few ingredients on the Martian surface that could be used to create and release such gases. In this new effort, the research team suggests an alternative method—releasing millions of metal nanorods into the atmosphere. Metal nanorods, the researchers suggest, could trap heat in much the same way that Martian dust does but would remain in the atmosphere longer. They compare the effort to shooting glitter into the atmosphere. They state that nanorods could be easily made with materials on the Martian surface, and presumably be reused once they fall to the ground. Initial testing showed the nanorods would settle 10 times more slowly than dust.To find out if their idea is feasible, the researchers used the MarsWRF global climate model, along with an additional 1-D model to mimic the conditions they sought. After including data describing the addition of metal nanorods into the atmosphere, they ran the model to see what would happen. The model showed that if the nanorods were fired at 30 liters per second into the atmosphere, the entire planet would warm by 30 K (which is equivalent to 30°C or 54°F). It further showed that if the firing were sustained for at least 10 years, ice on the surface would start to melt. The research team suggests the use of metal nanorods to warm Mars would be far more efficient than trying to do so with greenhouse gases.

WEEK OF DANIEL 9:27 WE KNOW ITS 7 YRS

The King of Jerusalem[1] was the supreme ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the Crusader state founded by Christian princes in 1099 when the First Crusade took the city.Godfrey of Bouillon, the first ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, himself refused the title of king, and instead chose the title "Defender of the Holy Sepulchre". Thus, the title of king was only introduced for his successor, King Baldwin I in 1100. The city of Jerusalem was lost in 1187, but the Kingdom of Jerusalem survived (also known as the "Second Kingdom of Jerusalem"), moving its capital to Acre in 1191. The city of Jerusalem was re-captured in the Sixth Crusade, during 1229–39 and 1241–44. The Kingdom of Jerusalem was finally dissolved with the fall of Acre and the end of the Crusades in the Holy Land in 1291.After the Crusader States ceased to exist, the title of King of Jerusalem was claimed by a number of European noble houses descended from the kings of Cyprus or the kings of Naples. The (purely ceremonial) title of King of Jerusalem is currently used by Felipe VI of Spain. It was claimed by Otto von Habsburg as Habsburg pretender, and by the kings of Italy until 1946.

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

DANIEL 8:23-25
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king (EU DICTATOR) of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences,(FROM THE OCCULT) shall stand up.
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power:(SATANS POWER) and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;(JESUS) but he shall be broken without hand.DANIEL 11:36-40
36 And the king shall do according to his will;(EU PRESIDENT) and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers,(THIS EU DICTATOR IS A EUROPEAN JEW) nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:(HES A MILITARY GINIUS) and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds (CONTROL HEZBOLLAH,AL-QUAIDA MURDERERS ETC) with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many,(HIS ARMY LEADERS) and shall divide the land for gain.
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south(EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR PROTECTING ISRAELS SECURITY) and the king of the north(RUSSIA) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.(1/2-3 BILLION DIE IN WW3)

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

DR SAMUEL DOCTORIANS VISION - SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries. "The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

DANIEL CHAPTER 9:24-27 EXPLAINED.
24 Seventy weeks (70X7=490 YEARS) are determined upon thy people (ISRAEL) and upon thy holy city,(JERUSALEM) to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.(JESUS ANNOINTED WITH HOLY OIL AS KING OF JERUSALEM FOREVER).

Mediators: 'Time to release the hostages, begin ceasefire' Israel: Negotiators to fly out next week to finalize framework of hostage deal-Netanyahu’s office confirms delegation to attend August 15 talks after US, Egypt, Qatar urge Israel and Hamas to finalize Gaza ceasefire agreement ‘without further delay’-By ToI Staff and Jacob Magid-Today, 3:38 am-AUG 8,24

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced an Israeli delegation will attend ceasefire-for-hostage negotiations with Hamas on August 15, after the United States, Egypt and Qatar on Thursday issued a joint call for talks to resume next week with the aim of swiftly concluding a deal.“It is time to bring immediate relief both to the long-suffering people of Gaza as well as the long-suffering hostages and their families. The time has come to conclude the ceasefire and hostages and detainees release deal,” said the statement signed by US President Joe Biden, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The statement said that after working “tirelessly” for months, the mediators are ready to present Israel and Hamas with a final proposal, with only the details for implementing the agreement yet to be worked out.“There is no further time to waste nor excuses from any party for further delay.  It is time to release the hostages, begin the ceasefire, and implement this agreement,” said the leaders.“As mediators, if necessary, we are prepared to present a final bridging proposal that resolves the remaining implementation issues in a manner that meets the expectations of all parties.”They called on Israel and Hamas to restart talks next Thursday in either Cairo or Doha to seal the final details and begin implementing the deal “without further delay.”The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed early Friday that Israeli negotiators will travel to the August 15 talks, saying the delegation will travel to wherever is decided on “to finalize the details for implementing the framework agreement.”There was no immediate response from Hamas. The joint statement from the US, Egypt and Qatar was welcomed by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which thanked the countries’ leaders “for their commitment to the release of the 115 hostages who have already been in Hamas captivity for 308 days,” before appealing to the government and Netanyahu to “demonstrate leadership” and finalize a deal “for the return of all the hostages.”It is believed that 111 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas during the October 7 terror onslaught remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 39 confirmed dead by the IDF. Hamas is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.Hamas released 105 civilians during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released before that. Seven hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 24 hostages have also been recovered, including three abductees mistakenly killed by the military as they tried to escape their captors.‘Still a significant amount of work’Speaking later Thursday during a phone briefing, a senior Biden administration official clarified that while the joint statement issued by the US, Egypt and Qatar refers to the aim of next Thursday’s negotiations as closing the remaining gaps, “It’s not like the agreement is going to be ready to be signed on Thursday.”“There’s still a significant amount of work to do, but we do believe that what’s left can be bridged,” the senior administration official told reporters, adding that Thursday will only see a “resumption” of the talks, not their finalization.Pressed several times on whether the US thinks Netanyahu is serious about reaching a deal, the administration official tried to strike a more balanced approach.“It’s incumbent upon not just the Israeli side, but also the Hamas side [to reach a deal]. At the end of the day, this is a hostage negotiation, and they’re holding hostages,” the senior official said. “With some force of will and sitting down to hash it out, we think [a deal] is possible.”The idea for a joint statement came out of the calls Biden held on Tuesday with the leaders of Qatar and Egypt, according to the senior administration official, who noted that Netanyahu’s office welcomed the initiative and said an Israeli officials would be at the talks. The administration official said preparatory talks for next week’s meeting will likely begin soon in Washington, as the US simultaneously readies for a potential attack on Israel by Iran. The official said the joint statement was the result of Biden’s counterparts in Cairo and Doha pushing for the move, and is not specifically aimed at sending a signal to Iran regarding its potential attack on Israel. However, the senior US official acknowledged that if Iran “launches a major war in the Middle East with some massive attack on Israel, which they’re threatening in coordination with other groups, that’s obviously going to significantly jeopardize any hope of getting a ceasefire in Gaza, because we’ll very much be focused on other things.”The official also said Iran has no right to attack Israel military following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, which was widely attributed to Israel.“There’s absolutely no legitimate basis whatsoever for Iran to launch a military attack against Israel, which it continues to threaten,” the senior official said.“There’s been a sense out there that somehow, Iran now has the right to attack Israel militarily, and we completely reject that logic,” the official added. The senior Biden administration official said the US was prepared for any contingency. “We have moved an awful lot of military force into the region, including F-22s that arrived today… We’re doing all we can to deter such an attack, to defeat an attack if it comes, and also to demonstrate to Iran that there’s a better path forward here than a military attack.”Earlier Thursday, Biden met in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to review US military deployments to help defend Israel from an attack against Iran, the official added.“The consequences of such a direct attack could be quite significant, including for Iran and Iran’s economy, which I know their new government is concerned about,” the senior official said.Agencies contributed to this report.
