KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd recorded a 7.0 per cent growth in passenger traffic year-on-year for the 2014 financial year, bringing the total number flown to 45.6 million.In a statement here today, the group said the growth was in line with its capacity growth, which stood at 8.0 per cent, allowing the group to close the year with a load factor of 78 per cent.For the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2014, the group's load factor was down 3.0 percentage points over the same period last year, while the number of passengers increased 2.0 per cent year-on-year to 12.1 million."During the quarter under review, only one additional aircraft was added to the system, while 18 aircraft were added year-on-year, bringing the total fleet size for the group to 172 as at end-2014," it said.For the 2014 financial year, Malaysia AirAsia recorded a slight increase in passenger growth to 22.1 million with a 79 per cent load factor, while Thai AirAsia's passenger growth was 16 per cent higher at 12.2 million with a 80 per cent load factor.AirAsia's Indonesian affiliate, which under went a route rationalisation exercise, posted a stronger load factor of 78 per cent during the previous financial year, and maintained a total of 7.9 million passengers.AirAsia Philippines recorded an increase of 7.0 percentage points in its load factor to 70 per cent and carried a total of 3.0 million passengers, up 36 per cent year-on-year.AirAsia India, which commenced operations in June 2014, recorded a load factor of 80 per cent with a total 350,000 passengers carried.
