Palestinian victims describe being used as shields by Hamas
Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. According to the victims, those who tried to object were shot in the legs by Hamas.

The Egyptian newspaper Al-Shourouq published on Friday afternoon what it said was an 11-point plan proposed by Egypt to Israel and Hamas in order to bring about a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. According to the report, the 11 points are as follows:
1-Israel will stop the attacks in Gaza, from sea, land and air. There will be no ground entries of Israeli troops into Gaza.
2-All the factions in Gaza will stop the attacks on Israel by land, sea and air. The construction of the terror tunnels will be stopped as well.
3-Movement of people and goods for the purpose of rebuilding Gaza will be permitted, as well as trade of goods from Judea and Samaria and Gaza, and vice versa, in accordance with the principles to be agreed upon between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
4-Israeli authorities will coordinate with the Palestinian Authority any matters related to finances and the reconstruction of Gaza.
5-Elimination of the buffer zone in northern and eastern Gaza and deployment of the Palestinian Authority’s security forces starting January 1, 2015.
6-Freedom of fishing and movement in the territorial waters of Gaza within six miles. The range will be gradually increased to no less than 12 miles, in coordination between the PA and Israel.
7-Israeli authorities will assist the Palestinian Authority in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure in Gaza, and will help meet the needs of those who were forced to flee their homes because of the fighting. In addition, Israel will provide urgent medical assistance to the wounded, and bring in food and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
8-The Palestinian Authority in coordination with the Israeli authorities and international organizations will provide the basic products needed to rehabilitate Gaza, according to a defined schedule that will allow for the rapid return of displaced persons to their homes as soon as possible.
9-Egypt urges the international community to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and raise the funds needed to rebuild Gaza, according to a defined schedule.
10-After the ceasefire is stabilized and normal life resumes in Gaza, the two sides will complete the indirect talks in Cairo, within one month from the date of the agreement which has not yet been signed.
11-Ways to set up and operate an airport and a seaport in Gaza, in accordance with the Oslo Accords and other previous agreements, will be discussed.
According to Channel 2 News, Israel and the PA have not yet submitted their response to the Egyptian proposal. Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders said Thursday that a truce agreement with Israel is "very close," after a five-day extension to the ceasefire took effect the night before at midnight.A source in Hamas's leadership abroad, as opposed to in Gaza, said Thursday night that the extension was sealed at the last minute because an opportunity to achieve a breakthrough in talks occurred, reports Yedioth Aharonoth.There are indications that in the course of the five-day extension a finalized truce will be agreed upon, according to the Hamas source.An Egyptian truce proposal presented Tuesday "could lead directly to what we define as a break through and give an answer to our demands," said the Hamas leader.The Egyptian proposal offered an easing of the blockade on the Hamas terror enclave of Gaza, putting off larger Hamas demands such as a sea and airport, along with Israeli demands for a disarmament of Gaza, to be resolved in later discussions. Confirming the Hamas leader's words, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization's second-in-command Ziad Nahala said Thursday that a truce agreement is indeed imminent, and will include a guarantee to remove the blockade on Gaza.Egypt talked Israel out of its security demands according to Nahala, who added that the discussions about a sea port or airport will be held a month after an initial truce agreement is signed.As for what's on the table for a truce in the meantime, Nahala said that Egypt helped to remove the Israeli demand for a disarmament of Gaza, and for an end to the smuggling to the Hamas stronghold, as well as the local production of weapons, and the disclosure of terror tunnels.The Islamic Jihad leader noted that both sides agreed on the opening of Gaza borders, easing entrance on goods into Gaza, extending the naval shipping zone for Gaza, and cancelling the "perimeter" on the Gaza side of the security fence, to which entrance has been banned so as to prevent terrorist infiltration to Israel."The agreement moves us from a state of war to a state of reconstruction," said Nahala.Qualifying the statement about reconstruction, a Hamas leader clarified on Tuesday that any truce agreement would only be so as to plan the next terror war against Israel. Palestinian victims describe being used as shields by Hamas
Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. According to the victims, those who tried to object were shot in the legs by Hamas.

The European Union offered Friday to take charge of Gaza’s border crossings and work to prevent illegal arms flows, insisting on a durable truce and saying a return to the status quo for the region “is not an option.”As EU foreign ministers held an urgent meeting in Brussels about global conflicts, Hamas negotiators met with the Islamic militant group’s leadership in Qatar to discuss a proposal for a long-term truce with Israel. An official said the group was inclined to accept the Egyptian-mediated offer.The Gaza blockade remains the main stumbling block. Imposed by Israel and Egypt to prevent Hamas importing weapons, it has greatly limited the movement of Palestinians in and out of the territory of 1.8 million people, restricted the flow of goods into Gaza and blocked virtually all exports.The EU ministers offered to reactivate and potentially extend its monitoring of Rafah and other border crossings — if given a mandate by the U.N. The Egyptian newspaper Al-Shourouq published on Friday afternoon what it said was an 11-point plan proposed by Egypt to Israel and Hamas in order to bring about a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. According to the report, the 11 points are as follows:
1-Israel will stop the attacks in Gaza, from sea, land and air. There will be no ground entries of Israeli troops into Gaza.
2-All the factions in Gaza will stop the attacks on Israel by land, sea and air. The construction of the terror tunnels will be stopped as well.
3-Movement of people and goods for the purpose of rebuilding Gaza will be permitted, as well as trade of goods from Judea and Samaria and Gaza, and vice versa, in accordance with the principles to be agreed upon between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
4-Israeli authorities will coordinate with the Palestinian Authority any matters related to finances and the reconstruction of Gaza.
5-Elimination of the buffer zone in northern and eastern Gaza and deployment of the Palestinian Authority’s security forces starting January 1, 2015.
6-Freedom of fishing and movement in the territorial waters of Gaza within six miles. The range will be gradually increased to no less than 12 miles, in coordination between the PA and Israel.
7-Israeli authorities will assist the Palestinian Authority in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure in Gaza, and will help meet the needs of those who were forced to flee their homes because of the fighting. In addition, Israel will provide urgent medical assistance to the wounded, and bring in food and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
8-The Palestinian Authority in coordination with the Israeli authorities and international organizations will provide the basic products needed to rehabilitate Gaza, according to a defined schedule that will allow for the rapid return of displaced persons to their homes as soon as possible.
9-Egypt urges the international community to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and raise the funds needed to rebuild Gaza, according to a defined schedule.
10-After the ceasefire is stabilized and normal life resumes in Gaza, the two sides will complete the indirect talks in Cairo, within one month from the date of the agreement which has not yet been signed.
11-Ways to set up and operate an airport and a seaport in Gaza, in accordance with the Oslo Accords and other previous agreements, will be discussed.
According to Channel 2 News, Israel and the PA have not yet submitted their response to the Egyptian proposal. Diplomatic sources in Jerusalem told the channel that Israel has not yet agreed to any proposal."Israel insists that any agreements clearly express Israel’s security needs," they stressed.Earlier Friday, an Islamic Jihad spokesperson claimed that a truce deal with Israel will be signed as soon the current five-day ceasefire ends next Monday at midnight.The statements come after Islamic Jihad second-in-command Ziad Nahala said Friday the war with Israel is "behind us," adding "we have no choice but to reach a truce agreement."However, another senior Islamic Jihad terrorist, Halad al-Batash, said Thursday night that his organization may embark on a long-term ceasefire even if a long-term truce deal is not reached with Israel.The statement roughly mirrors that of Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home), who on Friday pushed for a unilateral end of the Gaza operation without an agreement with Hamas, accompanied by several Israeli concessions and an essential return to the status quo.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Residents of a town in northern Israel cause controversy by saying they want to keep Arabs out of the ecological Galilee community they are establishing nearby.According to a report by Hamakom, the residents, who live in Gan Ner, on the slopes of the Gilboa, object to a local Arab doctor’s decision to purchase land in nearby Nurit, a newly-founded community populated by Gan Ner residents.The controversy erupts after one of the members of the community draws the attention of the other members to the fact that the doctor, Ali Zoabi, who works in Gan Ner, had purchased the land.On Gan Ner’s Facebook page, he shares a photo of the physician’s son waving a Palestinian flag in front of the Eiffel Tower.“Do you know him? There’s no way you don’t,” the man writes. At first, the other members of the community react with confusion. But when the original poster reveals the boy’s identity, many echo his sentiments, with one member even suggesting that the teen may have spray-painted a swastika at the entrance to Gan Ner.“Let him go back to Gaza,” says one member, while another suggests Zoabi should not be allowed to treat children. Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders said Thursday that a truce agreement with Israel is "very close," after a five-day extension to the ceasefire took effect the night before at midnight.A source in Hamas's leadership abroad, as opposed to in Gaza, said Thursday night that the extension was sealed at the last minute because an opportunity to achieve a breakthrough in talks occurred, reports Yedioth Aharonoth.There are indications that in the course of the five-day extension a finalized truce will be agreed upon, according to the Hamas source.An Egyptian truce proposal presented Tuesday "could lead directly to what we define as a break through and give an answer to our demands," said the Hamas leader.The Egyptian proposal offered an easing of the blockade on the Hamas terror enclave of Gaza, putting off larger Hamas demands such as a sea and airport, along with Israeli demands for a disarmament of Gaza, to be resolved in later discussions. Confirming the Hamas leader's words, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization's second-in-command Ziad Nahala said Thursday that a truce agreement is indeed imminent, and will include a guarantee to remove the blockade on Gaza.Egypt talked Israel out of its security demands according to Nahala, who added that the discussions about a sea port or airport will be held a month after an initial truce agreement is signed.As for what's on the table for a truce in the meantime, Nahala said that Egypt helped to remove the Israeli demand for a disarmament of Gaza, and for an end to the smuggling to the Hamas stronghold, as well as the local production of weapons, and the disclosure of terror tunnels.The Islamic Jihad leader noted that both sides agreed on the opening of Gaza borders, easing entrance on goods into Gaza, extending the naval shipping zone for Gaza, and cancelling the "perimeter" on the Gaza side of the security fence, to which entrance has been banned so as to prevent terrorist infiltration to Israel."The agreement moves us from a state of war to a state of reconstruction," said Nahala.Qualifying the statement about reconstruction, a Hamas leader clarified on Tuesday that any truce agreement would only be so as to plan the next terror war against Israel.
