"So when I was looking for recycled goods along the beach, I found these objects. At first, I didn’t know what that was, so I thought I could scale and that is why I brought all of them home," he said.Nusrin also explained how the women accessories were found not far from the location where he found the part of AirAsia QZ8501 wing."Yes, still on the beach, just a little further," Nusrin explained. After reporting it to the police of Tawaeli, a number of police officers came to his house to get the objects. AirAsia Flight QZ8501: Indonesia to release investigation report by August-Published: February 18, 2015 08:28 PM-MALAYMAILONLINE
JAKARTA, Feb 18 — Indonesia will release the final report into last year’s AirAsia plane crash by August, the transport minister told AFP this week. The Airbus 320-200 went down in the Java Sea on December 28 in stormy weather with 162 people on board, during what was supposed to be a short trip from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore.“(The NTSC) promised (the final report) will be released by August,” transport minister Ignasius Jonan told AFP in an interview, referring to the National Transportation Safety Committee which is conducting the investigation. The NTSC reports to the president and coordinates with the transport ministry.Jonan said that the parties involved in the investigation, including plane manufacturer Airbus and AirAsia, must accept the committee’s findings and not interfere in the inquiry.“I have instructed the NTSC that the report must be as independent as possible,” he said.ICAO has stated the investigation should aim at preventing future accidents, not apportioning blame or liability. The minister refused to reveal anything further about the investigation, pending publication of the final report. The NTSC has so far shed little light on what caused QZ8501 to crash, or what occurred in the moments before the tragedy. The committee has confirmed French co-pilot Remi Plesel was flying the plane, not former fighter jet pilot Captain Iriyanto. It also found the plane climbed from 32,000 feet to well above 37,000 feet in 30 seconds, likely in an attempt to avoid a menacing storm. It then quickly returned to 32,000 feet before “gradually” descending towards the sea.So far more than 100 bodies or body parts have been recovered from the sea.Under International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines, the state conducting the investigation should release a final report within a year of the accident. — AFP
Chinese MH370 relatives protest at Malaysia PM's office-Agence France-Presse, Putrajaya, Malaysia | World | Wed, February 18 2015, 5:47 PM-jakarta post
Chinese relatives of MH370 passengers gathered outside the Malaysian prime minister's office Wednesday to demand his government rescind its declaration that all on board the plane were presumed dead."We want an explanation from [Prime Minister Najib Razak]. And we want him to cancel the declaration that the incident was an accident," said Kelly Wen, a Chinese national whose husband was on the Malaysia Airlines flight.Malaysian authorities last month declared the plane's unexplained disappearance an "accident" under global aviation conventions, saying for the first time that all 239 passengers and crew were presumed dead. That set off howls of protest from next of kin in Malaysia and China, many of whom have sharply criticized the airline and Malaysian government over the plane's disappearance.A group of 21 relatives from China, where criticism from families has been especially intense, came to Malaysia last week to demand the declaration be cancelled and press for information on the plane's fate. They said they plan to stay through the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, which begins on Thursday, and until they get answers."We want to tell Prime Minister Najib that we want our families back for the Spring Festival," said Wen, using the Chinese term for the holiday."They have said our relatives are dead but have given no proof. This is unacceptable." The next of kin then presented a representative from the prime minister's office with Chinese calligraphy scrolls calling for their relatives' return. They later held an emotional Lunar New Year prayer session at a nearby square, with some wailing loudly and calling out "Come home!"
Two-thirds of the plane's passengers were Chinese.
The plane vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing last March 8 in one of history's great aviation mysteries. The Chinese next of kin said the onset of their culture's most important holiday had worsened their pain and suffering, as the festival is normally a joyous time of family gatherings."Bringing our families together for Spring Festival is the most important thing to Chinese people," said Wang Rongxuan, 60, whose son Hou Bo, 37, was on the plane."Now, how can we celebrate? I have been dreading this -- passing the holiday without our son."The group held a protest at Malaysia Airlines' headquarters last weekend.Malaysia's government says satellite data indicates the plane inexplicably detoured to the remote southern Indian Ocean, which they suspect was due to "deliberate" action onboard. But no evidence has turned up despite an intensive search there, and Malaysian authorities still have released no findings from their various investigations into what happened. Some relatives accuse Malaysia and the airline of a bungled response to the disaster and possible cover-up, charges that are denied.Malaysian authorities say last month's declaration allows families to move on and seek compensation. But many relatives angrily reject the suggestion, saying they fear the move is an attempt by Malaysia to wash its hands of MH370 and leave it unsolved. For MH370 kin, Chinese New Year becomes time for mourning-BY YAP TZU GING-Published: February 18, 2015 08:34 PM-THEMALAYMAILONLINE
Feb 18 — The Lunar Chinese New Year is a time of celebration and festivities, but for some Chinese families of passengers aboard Flight MH370, it serves only as a reminder of the absence of their loved ones who travelled on the still-missing plane.Sitting in a circle at Putra Square opposite the Prime Minister’s office here today, the families who travelled from China to protest the Malaysian government’s decision to declare MH370 an accident and their loved ones dead, appeared still in disbelief, nearly a year after the incident stunned the world. There, they held a solemn prayer session, far removed from the raucous scenes of celebration customary for the time. Some stood silently; others sat as they prayed.“We refuse to believe they are gone,” said Wen Wan Cheng, whose son was on board the ill-fated flight. “They will come back.”Alone in an unfamiliar land, he appeared at a loss about what to do when government offices here close for the holidays. They have already protested outside Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) office in Subang, and it is not known where they plan to hold further demonstrations, if any.“I am unsure what we are doing tomorrow. I do not know the country,” the 63-year-old said.Another family member, Li Er You, said there will be no joy for him and his family during this Lunar New Year.“I have nothing to celebrate. My son is gone,” he said.Earlier, the families had demanded to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who was Malaysia’s spokesman during the height of the crisis. They wanted to deliver scrolls with messages written in Chinese calligraphy; loosely translated, the scrolls said they will never give up and the incident will never be forgotten.Families of Chinese passengers aboard missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 mourn the loss of their loved ones at a gathering in Putrajaya, February 18, 2015. — Picture by Tzu Ging YapFamilies of Chinese passengers aboard missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 mourn the loss of their loved ones at a gathering in Putrajaya, February 18, 2015. — Picture by Tzu Ging YapThe families never got to meet either, and instead the scrolls were received by an aide from the Prime Minister’s Office.Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8 last year, dropping off radar coverage not long after taking off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport en-route to Beijing. There were 239 passengers and crew on board the plane that remains missing till today, with no indication as to its resting place despite months of searching. On January 29, Putrajaya declared Flight MH370 an air accident according to criteria set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and that all the people on board were presumed dead.
