Anti-Islam demonstration under way outside Phoenix mosque-Reuters-MAY 30,15-YAHOONEWS

Crowds gather for anti-Islam demonstration outside Phoenix mosque-Reuters By Paul Ingram-MAY 30,15-YAHOONEWS
PHOENIX (Reuters) - More than 200 protesters, some armed, berated Islam and its Prophet Mohammed outside an Arizona mosque on Friday in a provocative protest that was denounced by counterprotesters shouting "Go home, Nazis," weeks after an anti-Muslim event in Texas came under attack by two gunmen.
The anti-Muslim event outside the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix was organized by an Iraq war veteran who posted photos of himself online wearing a T-shirt with a crude slogan denigrating Islam and waving the U.S. flag.As the event got under way, demonstrators on both sides screamed obscenities at each other as police in riot gear swiftly separated the two groups, each with about 250 people, using police tape and barricades."This is in response to the recent attack in Texas," organizer Jon Ritzheimer wrote on his Facebook page announcing the event at a mosque targeted in part because the two Texas gunmen had worshipped there.More than 900 people responded on the event's Facebook page that they would attend, and police expanded their presence in the evening in anticipation of growing crowds. Officers with riot helmets and gas masks formed a cordon for several blocks.Among the anti-Islam protesters, some of whom called Islam a "religion of murderers," more than a dozen men in military clothing carried semi-automatic weapons. Others waved copies of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad drawn at the Texas event.By late Friday night, virtually all the protesters and police had left the area with no reports of violent flare-ups or arrests.Depictions of Mohammad, which many Muslims view as blasphemous, have been a flashpoint for violence in Europe and the United States in recent months where those displaying or creating such images have been targeted by militants.Anti-Muslim groups have been active in the United States, buying ads and staging demonstrations characterizing Islam as violent, often citing the murderous brutality of Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.
'LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR'
The Phoenix mosque targeted on Friday has condemned such violence and held a series of sermons at Friday prayers last year by an imam who criticized militant Islamist groups such as Islamic State, al Qaeda and Nigeria's Boko Haram. The president of the center had urged worshippers not to engage with the demonstrators."We should remind ourselves that we do not match wrongness with wrongness, but with grace and mercy and goodness," Usama Shami told worshippers during Friday prayers. While some counter-protesters outside the mosque responded to the anti-Islam protest with obscenities, others followed his advice and chanted "Love your neighbor."Todd Green, a religion professor at Luther College in Iowa who studies Islamophobia, said that the brutal acts committed by Islamic State and other militant groups have colored many Americans' impressions of Muslims."Almost two-thirds of Americans don't know a Muslim," Green said. "What they know is ISIS, al Qaeda, and Charlie Hebdo," referencing the January attack on the Paris office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that left 12 people dead over anger at the magazine's cartoons featuring the Prophet. In a similar incident, a pair of gunmen on May 3 opened fire near Dallas outside an exhibit of cartoons featuring the Prophet Mohammad and were shot dead by police.Leaders of the Phoenix Muslim community confirmed both gunmen had attended the mosque targeted in Friday's demonstration.U.S. officials are investigating claims that the Texas gunmen had ties to the Islamic State, but said they had not established a firm connection.
'EPIDEMIC OF ANTI-ISLAMIC SENTIMENT'
The Department of Homeland Security spoke with state and local law enforcement and monitored the situation in Phoenix, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.Ritzheimer, the main organizer of the demonstration, said the point was "to expose the true colors of Islam.""True Islam is terrorism. Yes, the ones that are out committing these atrocities and stuff, they are following the book as it's written," Ritzheimer told CNN.Ritzheimer was a staff sergeant in the Marine Reserve and was deployed to Iraq twice, in 2005 and 2008, the Marine Corps said.Anti-Islam activist Pamela Geller, who organized the Texas event, said she was not involved in the Phoenix demonstration. The mosque is a former church near the city's international airport that can hold some 600 worshippers. The Phoenix area is home to tens of thousands of Muslims.Friday's event is part of "an epidemic of anti-Islamic sentiment" that goes beyond protesting against extremism, said Imraan Siddiqi of the Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations."Don't mistake that, they're not saying they want to rid America of radical Islam, they are saying they want to rid America of Islam," Siddiqi said.(Writing and additional reporting by Alistair Bell, Sharon Bernstein and Curtis Skinner; Additional reporting by Scott Malone in Boston, and Alex Dobuzinskis and Dan Whitcomb in Los Angeles; Editing by Cynthia Johnston, Lisa Shumaker and Nick Macfie)

Christian beheads jihadist in Syria revenge killing: monitor-AFP-MAY 30,15-YAHOONEWS
Beirut (AFP) - A Syrian Christian fighter has beheaded an Islamic State group (IS) militant to avenge people "executed" by the jihadists in northeastern Syria, a monitor said on Friday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the incident took place on Thursday in Hasakeh province, where IS holds large areas of the countryside.According to the monitor, the Christian fighter, a member of the minority Assyrian community, found the jihadist in the local village of Tal Shamiram."He took him prisoner and when he found out he was a member of IS, the Assyrian fighter beheaded him in revenge for abuses committed by the group in the region," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said. The Observatory is based in Britain but has covered the Syrian conflict since it broke out four years ago thanks to a network of sources inside the country. The Christian was fighting in the ranks of Kurdish forces who earlier this month drove IS out of more than a dozen Assyrian villages the jihadists had captured in Hasakeh.IS has carried out a wave of abuses in areas it controls in both Syria and Iraq, including public beheadings, mass executions, enslavement and rape.

4 more bodies found after Texas flooding-Associated Press By ALLEN REED-MAY 29,15-YAHOONEWS
DALLAS (AP) — Authorities said Friday they reclaimed four more bodies from Texas waters, adding to the growing death toll inflicted by record-setting storms that continue to submerge highways and flood homes.
At least 28 people have been killed nationwide in the storms, 24 in Texas. At least 11 are missing in Texas.More than 7 inches fell overnight from a line of thunderstorms that stalled over Dallas, which is in its wettest month ever recorded at 16.07 inches. The National Weather Service reports rainfall records have been crushed across the Lone Star state — from Corpus Christi along the Gulf of Mexico to Gainesville near the Oklahoma border. Even Amarillo in the dusty Texas Panhandle is in its second wettest month on record, said Meteorologist Dennis Cain from Fort Worth. The downpour has inundated a state that until recently was suffering a severe drought. Swelled rivers and lakes may not recede to normal levels until July.
"In a lot of places we've exceeded the wettest year ever," Cain said. "You're talking maybe a 150 or 200 year event. It is quite astounding."The greater Dallas area was one of the hardest hit on Friday. Firefighters in the suburb of Mesquite recovered the body of a man who drowned in his truck after it was swept into a culvert. Houston-area authorities found the bodies of two men who had been reported missing. The body of 87-year-old Jack Alter, who was swept away when a boat attempting to rescue him from a bayou overturned, was found in the Houston Ship Channel. The search for a missing 51-year-old man was called off Friday after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service found a body on a southeast Texas beach that matched his description. The unidentified man and two others, who later escaped, had been fishing in the Brazos River Thursday when they were caught in the currents.First responders said the body of an unidentified person was pulled near the banks of the Blanco River late Thursday.A storm system last weekend that prompted the initial flooding also killed 14 people in the northern Mexico when a twister hit the border town of Ciudad Acuna. The rain also seeped into homes Friday and stranded hundreds of drivers, many of whom lingered along highways that were nearly gridlocked from the high water and abandoned vehicles.Fire rescue crews responded to hundreds of calls that included trapped vehicles and accidents, authorities said.Exacerbating the problem for first-responders are people who have been going around barricades to take pictures of the floodwaters, said Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. He said those people are endangering themselves and stretching thin the first responders' resources."Floodwaters are never safe to play around, take a picture around, walk around," Jenkins said. "We don't need any more loss of life."The Colorado River in Wharton and the Brazos and San Jacinto rivers near Houston were the main focus of concern as floodwaters moved from North and Central Texas downstream toward the Gulf of Mexico. The mayor of Wharton, a city about 60 miles southwest of Houston, ordered the evacuation of homes along the Colorado River, which is expected to crest in the area at just over 43 feet on Saturday morning.Floodwater was already creeping into neighborhoods in the suburban Houston city of Kingwood near the swollen San Jacinto River, where residents were keeping a close eye on water levels."Everybody's worried about it," James Simms said from his second-story balcony, looking down at a flood that had reached his garage. "Those people who are going to leave are already gone. There's others like us who are going to wait until it's mandatory."Teams continued to search through debris piles along rivers. Over the Memorial Day weekend, the Blanco River tore through Wimberley, a small tourist town between San Antonio and Austin. County authorities on Friday identified the body of a 6-year-old boy who was killed when waters overflowed his family's cabin.First responders with Texas A&M's Texas Task Force One from dawn until dusk combed a 25 mile area along the river since Sunday. Will Welch, communications manager for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, said responders have been using search dogs to comb through tightly compacted debris piles constructed of Cypress trees, cars and bits of homes."Seeing a 10-foot in diameter tree stuck in the top of another that is 15 feet in diameter — It looks like the most powerful tornado you can imagine (went down) either side of the riverbank."Welch said responders have been taking the search acre by acre, combing through a precarious soup of snakes, bacteria, herbicides, insecticides and fuel and other hazards intertwined with the other debris."It's like the front end of a bulldozer just scoured the river basin and just wiped out everything in its path," Welch said.___Associated Press journalists Jamie Stengle Dallas; Juan A. Lozano in Houston; and John L. Mone in Kingwood contributed to this report.___Follow Allen Reed on Twitter at https://twitter.com/Allen_Reed

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES HOTTER) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
Heat wave eases in India after killing nearly 2,000 people-Associated Press By OMER FAROOQ-MAY 30,15-YAHOONEWS
HYDERABAD, India (AP) — Showers and thunderstorms in parts of southern India on Saturday helped eased a weekslong summer heat wave that has claimed nearly 2,000 lives. The intense heat, however, was expected to continue in some areas of worst-hit Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states for another 24 hours, said Y.K. Reddy, an Indian Meteorological Department director.Heat-related conditions, including dehydration and heat stroke, have killed at least 1,490 people in Andhra Pradesh and 489 in Telangana since mid-April, according to state officials.Daytime temperatures hovered between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius (104 and 113 degrees Fahrenheit) in the two states on Saturday, after soaring to as high as 48 C (118 F) earlier in the week, the meteorological department said.A strong thunderstorm brought some relief from the stifling heat to Anantapur, a town in Andhra Pradesh, though the storm uprooted trees and electricity poles and cut power in some areas.People also heaved sighs of relief in the Telangana state capital of Hyderabad and Telangana's Mehubnagar district, which recorded 1 centimeter (.39 inch) of rain. However, at least four districts — Guntur, Krishna and East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, and Nalgonda in Telangana — were still in the grip of the heat wave, the meteorological department said, adding that they would likely get some relief in the next 24 hours due to rain in nearby areas.Cooling monsoon rains are expected next week in southern India before gradually advancing north. The monsoon season will last until the end of September.Forecasting service AccuWeather warned Friday of prolonged drought conditions in India, with the monsoon likely to be disrupted by a more active typhoon season over the Pacific.

Magnitude 8.5 quake strikes off eastern Japan, no tsunami danger or immediate damage-Reuters-MAY 30,15-YAHOONEWS
TOKYO (Reuters) - A magnitude 8.5 earthquake struck off the east coast of Japan on Saturday, shaking buildings in Tokyo, but there was no danger of a tsunami and no immediate reports of damage since the quake was extremely deep. There were no reports of further irregularities at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant, damaged four years ago in a massive 9.0 magnitude quake, or any other nuclear facilities. The Shinkansen high speed train line had briefly stopped between Tokyo and Osaka due a power outage. The quake, centered off the Ogasawara islands south of Tokyo, occurred at a depth of 590 km and, unusually, was felt throughout much of Japan, but there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries, though the Tokyo Fire Department had received calls of people suffering injuries through falls, NHK national television said.In Chiba, just east of Tokyo, loudspeaker broadcasts called on people to remain calm, but there were no reports of damage."Since it was magnitude 8.5 this was a very big quake, but fortunately it was very deep at 590 km," Naoki Hirata, an earthquake expert at the University of Tokyo's Earthquake Research Centre, told NHK."But the shaking was felt over a broad area... Fortunately, because it was deep, there is little danger of a tsunami."Tokyo Electric Power Co said there were no abnormalities at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant following the quake. On March 11, 2011, a massive 9.0 magnitude quake touched off a tsunami that left nearly 20,000 people dead and nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant.(Reporting by Edmund Klamann, Kiyoshi Takenaka, Linda Sieg, Mari Saito and Joseph Radford, writing by Elaine Lies; Editing by Pravin Char and Rosalind Russell)
Powerful quake strikes off Japan; no tsunami warning-Associated Press By MARI YAMAGUCHI-MAY 30,15-TAHOONEWS
TOKYO (AP) — A powerful and extremely deep earthquake struck near remote Japanese islands and shook most of the country Saturday evening, but officials said there was no threat of a tsunami, and no injuries or damage were immediately reported. The magnitude-8.5 offshore quake struck off the Ogasawara islands at a depth of 590 kilometers (370 miles), Japan's Meteorological Agency said. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 7.8 and a depth of 678 kilometers (421 miles). The temblor was powerful enough to rattle most of Japan, from the southern islands of Okinawa to Hokkaido in the north. Buildings swayed in Tokyo — about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) north of the Ogasawara islands — and disrupted some train services in the city. About 400 houses in Saitama prefecture, just north of Tokyo, were without power, according to the Tokyo Electric Power Co.At Tokyo's Roppongi Hills shopping and business complex, elevators stopped soon after the earthquake struck the area.Yoshiyuki Sasamoto, a municipal official on Chichijima island, which is part of the Ogasawara island group, said he initially felt a mild tremor, but when he thought it was over "there was a violent shaking and I couldn't even stand on my feet."At an inn on the Ogasawara island of Hahajima, furniture shook violently, although nothing fell or broke, innkeeper Michiko Orita told public broadcaster NHK. "It was so frightening. The entire house shook and a Buddhist altar violently swayed like I have never experienced before," she said, adding that all her guests were safe.NHK said there were no reports of injuries or damage from the quake. The meteorological agency did not issue a tsunami warning because the quake struck so far beneath the earth's surface. Deep offshore earthquakes usually do not cause tsunamis, and generally cause less damage than shallow ones.In March 2011, a magnitude-9.0 earthquake rocked northeastern Japan, triggering a tsunami that killed more than 18,500 people and ravaged much of the northern Pacific coast. The depth of that quake was just 24 kilometers (15 miles), according to the meteorological agency.

GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
