SURABAYA, 3rd MARCH 2015 – AirAsia Indonesia wishes to update on the latest development of QZ 8501’s search and rescue operations (SAR) led by the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) Republic of Indonesia.BASARNAS Chief, Air Chief Marshal F.H. Bambang Soelistyo today announced that there have been no remains found in the primary search areas of the Karimata Strait and Makassar Strait in the past week, leading BASARNAS to officially cease the main SAR operation effective today.However, smaller-scale SAR operations with three vessels and a team of divers will be carried out for seven more days, after which all SAR operations will be officially terminated.The decision to cease the main operation was announced this afternoon during a dialogue between BASARNAS, AirAsia Indonesia's management and families of QZ 8501 passengers at the crisis center in Mahameru Hall, East Java Region Police Headquarter, Surabaya.
