16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

06/ 7/2014 - THE VATICAN INSIDER-Pope Francis’ dream: Israelis and Palestinians will live together in peace-On Sunday evening, June 8, the Israeli and Palestinian Presidents will join Pope Francis in the Vatican Gardens to pray-for-peace. Can this event be a game changer?-Gerard O’Connell
Rome-Pope Francis has a dream that one day, in the not so distant future, Israelis and Palestinians will live together, in separate independent states, in peace, security, and mutual respect, as befits the sons and daughters of the one Merciful God in whom he and the vast majority of them believe. He took a first step to help make that dream become reality on May 25, when in Bethlehem – the birthplace of the Prince of Peace, he invited President Shimon Peres of Israel and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, two elder statesmen of both peoples, to join him in the Vatican “to pray in earnest for peace”.Yes, to pray, not to talk, not to negotiate, but to pray for peace in that land which has known wars, violence, death, exile, fear, resentment, hatred and never-ending retaliation for some 66 years, but not lasting peace. For far too long God has been sidelined from the Israeli-Palestinian peace process by the various political forces on both sides of the Atlantic that have sought, with varying degrees of political will and seriousness, to broker a peace accord. Now the Latin American Pope is bringing God to center stage in what he believes can be a game changer. “Few seem capable of understanding that perhaps the religious dimension can free up the political dimension and open up vision”, Fr David Neuhaus S.J., vicar of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem for the Hebrew speaking Catholics in Israel, told me recently. The Israeli Jesuit explained that “an integral part of the message” that Francis sought to communicate to Israelis and Palestinians alike during his recent visit could be summarized this way: “Let God in! Make space for God.” He said the Pope was not simply referring to “the word ‘God’ which is instrumentalized, used and abused by each side to the multidimensional conflict”; rather he was speaking about “the real living God”.According to Neuhaus, the Pope was saying to the Israelis and Palestinians, and to their respective political leaders, “Can you see the horizon beyond the walls that have been erected due to the conflict, the horizon of possibilities that God can open up?”The Argentine Pope’s invitation to the two highly respected Presidents of Israel and Palestine should be seen in this context. Peres and Abbas are “men of peace” (the Pope’s words) and believers, and so they readily accepted his invitation to turn to the Merciful God in whom all three believe, to invoke his assistance to grant peace to their two peoples at a moment when human endeavor has failed miserably, and left the door open to the risk of even greater suffering and turmoil. Pope Francis invited them because he passionately wants to break the impasse, to change the political climate, to remove the blocks to peace, and to get Israelis and Palestinians alike to dream again that “peace is possible”. He wants them to believe that the dream can become reality with the help of God, and with the cooperation of people of good will – in particular, political leaders, on both sides - who are willing to look beyond the walls in which they find themselves confined. He hopes to create a climate in which political leaders on both sides can summon up the courage and determination to make the dream come true.Rabbi Abraham Skorka, writing in the Argentine daily, La Nacion, on June 6, before departing for Rome to participate in the prayer-for-peace service together with his compatriot, Omar Abboud – the Muslim leader, emphasized this same idea when he said, the event is being held “to keep the dream alive”.“The prayer-for-peace meeting, has no direct political goals, it aims only to shape a significant encounter, so as to generate a different image in the reality of ‘mis-encounters’ between Palestinians and Israelis”, Skorka stated. Its aim, he said, “is to create a moment in which, without the signing of a peace accord or treaty, two old fighters look at each other face-to-face and express in the language of gestures and silences a common cry for the cessation of all expressions of violence in the region.”“One of the aims of this spiritual encounter is to renew the hope that peaceful living-together is possible”, he added. “This hope of peace between all the peoples of the region was an essential part of the thinking of Ben Guerion, the father of the State of Israel. To sustain this dream, Anwar el-Sadat paid (the price) with his own life” said Skorka, who had listened to David Ben Gurion speak during his one visit to Argentina.“This prayer-meeting in the Vatican is taking place essentially to keep the dream alive”, he stated. But well aware that many political analysts are skeptical that this prayer gathering can change the situation in any way, Skorka reminded everyone that “the real history (of the world), which allowed the development of the dignity of individuals and produced the most beautiful flowers of the human reality, was made by the dreamers, who like Martin Luther King, knew how to conceive and keep a dream alive.”The idea of a dream was also used by Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa , a Franciscan and Custodian of the Catholic sites in the Holy Land, whom the Pope asked to be coordinator for this meeting.“No one thinks peace will break out on Monday”, he told a Vatican press conference on June 6, “rather, the intention of this initiative is to re-open a road that has been closed for some time, to recreate a desire, a possibility, to make people dream that peace is possible”.
06/ 6/2014 - THE VATICAN INSIDER-Peace prayer by Palestinians and Israelians in Vatican Gardens sunday-Pope Francis and Israel's President Shimon Peres plant an olive tree after their meeting at the president's residence in Jerusalem on Monday, May 26, 2014-Francis to host Jewish, Christian, Muslim prayers in which Palestinians and Israelis will intermingle-Lisa Palmieri-Billig
Vatican City-Politics and spirituality do not always go hand in hand, not even in the quest for peace, but most certainly the religious aspect can summon unsuspected resources and cross what might appear as otherwise unsurmountable boundaries – as foreseen by Pope Francis when he extended his invitation to President Shimon Peres and President Mahmoud Abbas during his recent visit to Jerusalem.Sunday’s prayer ceremony will see Israeli and Palestinian religious and political representatives praying side by side according to their faiths, along with nearly all the highest officials of Christian churches in the Holy Land, most of whom hold double responsibilities for their faithful in both Israeli and Palestinian territories, and some in Jordan as well.Today’s political reality is that Israel will not return to peace negotiations with the Palestinian Authority because President Abbas' unity government now includes Hamas, which is inserted in the international list of terrorist organizations (even if the Palestinian "technocratic" coalition does not include ministers officially enrolled in Hamas). The new bone of contention and impasse is that Hamas, now an ally of the Palestinian Authority, will not accept the three conditions to which President Abbas, to the contrary, has offered guarantees: 1) recognition of Israel's right to exist 2) halting all operations of violence and terrorism 3) recognizing the validity of past peace agreements such as the Oslo accords. Resumption of peace talks also hinges on a change of heart by Hamas on these vital points, in line with commitments made by President Abbas. The prayer, to be held in the Vatican gardens, is a totally unprecedented event. It will begin around 7 P.M. (19.00) Sunday. The late hour was chosen in order to give President Abbas time enough to attend the inauguration ceremony for Egypt's President Sisi Sunday morning in Cairo. Before prayers, Pope Francis will receive each national leader separately for private talks.Another extraordinary aspect of this event is that both the Israeli and the Palestinian delegations will be multi-religious and will mingle their nationalities during the prayer services. Christians, Muslims and Jews from the separate delegations will leave their national groups and intermingle according to the three faiths. Thus Palestinian and Israeli Christians will pray together as will Palestinian and Israeli Muslims, in three separate locations! The delegation from President Peres' office will include two Israeli Druze, two Israeli Muslims and two Israeli Christians. The Palestinian delegation also includes both Muslims and Christians. The prayers are divided into three sections: 1) an invocation for thanksgiving, 2) a quest for forgiveness, and 3) prayers for peace in Jerusalem. Jews will offer psalms, along with other texts. The Israeli delegation - around 15 - 18 people -- will include three rabbis: Ratzon Arousi,(the most important Yemenite rabbi and Chief of the Rabbinical Council, Daniel Sperber (highly respected Professor of Talmud and recipient of the prestigious Israel Prize) and David Rosen (Honorary Advisor to Israel’s Grand Rabbinate and International Director for Interreligious Affairs of AJC – American Jewish Committee). The Grand Rabbinate’s director, Oded Wiener, will also participate. Italian Jewry will be represented by Josef Levi, Chief Rabbi of Florence. The Pope’s Argentinian friend, Rabbi Abraham Skorka will be present as well. The Palestinian delegation of Muslim and Catholic religious and diplomatic representatives will be of equal size. Among others it will include Mahmoud Al Habbash, former Minister of Religious Affairs; Sheikh Jamal Abu Alhanoud of the Palestinian Sharia Courts; Ziad Al-Bandak, Minister for Christian Relations; Saib Arekat, head of the peace negotiations team, and the former Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah. The Orthodox Church’s Patriarch Bartholomew will be a guest of honor. His commitment to working for peace in the Middle East, to ecumenism and to interreligious dialogue is well known. In the context of his recent meeting in Jerusalem with Pope Francis to mark the 50th anniversary of Paul VI's reconciliation encounter with Patriarch Athenagoras, Bartholomew attended a lunch given in his honor by AJC’s Jerusalem office.Rabbi David Rosen expressed to “Vatican Insider” his hopes that the event will be “the beginning of something even better”. He envisions possible future developments such as “a permanent council of local religious authorities (with international support) that could prepare a charter for interreligious coexistence in the Holy Land; a joint statement on Jerusalem; and religious institutions perhaps serving as support for political peace making.” In view of the thorny issue of the Palestinian Authority-Hamas unity government however, he foresees Israeli opinion will be only “skeptically positive” regarding political consequences, “though with great appreciation of Pope Francis’ goodwill.”
06/ 6/2014 -The VATICAN INSIDER-The Pope, Peres and Mahmoud Abbas, distinct prayers and a cry for peace-Lombardi and Pizzaballa present the Peres-Abbas-Pope meeting-Presentation of the program for Sunday in the Vatican gardens. The time is from 18.15 to 20.45. “It will be a pause from politics, no representatives of the two governments will be present”.Iacopo Scaramuzzi
Vatican City-It will begin with three distinct prayers - Jewish, Christian and Muslim - the “prayer for peace” that will bring together, on Sunday evening in the Vatican gardens, Pope Francis, Israeli President Shimon Peres, the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and the Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. It will be a “pause from politics” and the delegations, which are still incomplete, will not include representatives of the respective governments.Jorge Mario Bergoglio invited the two Middle East leaders in his “home” during a recent trip to the Holy Land. Today in the Vatican press office the Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, and the Franciscan Custos of the Holy Land, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, presented the program for the event which begins late Sunday afternoon with the arrival of the two presidents in the Vatican: Peres at 18.15 and Abbas, from Egypt, at 18.30. Bergoglio will welcome them to his home, Santa Marta, for a brief talk, first with one and then with the other. At approximately 18.45, in the lobby of the residence, the three will be joined by the Patriarch Bartholomew who will have arrived in Rome the night before. A vehicle will then take the four to “a beautiful triangular lawn located between the “Casina Pio IV”, the Academy of Sciences, and the “Vatican Museums”, said Lombardi, an area “that points towards the dome of St. Peter”.The public part of the meeting will then take place in the presence of the press: a musical opening, a brief introduction in English to explain the course of the event, and then three distinct moments of prayer in the three religions, first Jewish (in Hebrew), then Christian (in English, Italian and Arabic), and lastly Muslim (in Arabic). “We do not pray together, but we stay together to pray avoiding any form of syncretism” said Pizzaballa. “Some may observe that the two presidents are not religious, but they are believers: it is not necessary to wear the religious habit in order to pray”, he said, noting that “Abbas knows the Quran very well and Peres the Jewish scriptures” and anyway, the two presidents are present as “representatives of their people” and not religious leaders. Bartholomew, on his part, will recite part of a Christian prayer. All three prayers will, however, have the same structure: a passage on creation, a request for forgiveness and a cry for peace interspersed with short musical passages. Lastly, the three interventions of the Pope, President Peres and President Mahmoud Abbas "who will recite the words they deem appropriate, and their cry for peace”. The public portion of the meeting will end with “a gesture of peace, probably a common handshake” said Lombardi, and then the four protagonists will plant an olive tree, a symbol of peace.Ultimately, Bergoglio, Bartholomew, Peres and Abbas will go to the nearby building of the Casina Pio IV, home of the Academy of Sciences, they will stop for a final public photograph in the oval courtyard (the "Nymph") and will then enter for a " confidential meeting, that will not be captured by cameras or journalists”. This is the last leg of the meeting. With the departure of Israeli and Palestinian presidents, which is expected around 20.30 - 20.40, the “prayer for peace” terminates.“It is a pause from politics” said Father Pizzaballa. “The Holy Father did not want to get into political issues over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the details of which we are all aware of, from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. It is a pause from politics: politics has its own dynamics, its own time, its own breath, more or less long or short, as you want; but the Pope's desire is to look up and go a little over the political aspect, inviting politicians to stop and pause as well”.For the Custos of the Holy Land “both Israeli and Palestinian media are very interested, a sign of a deep interest in their respective countries” and “although we cannot avoid a little skepticism, there is however “great expectation and a great curiosity”. More generally, “no one has the presumption to believe that after this event peace will break out in the Holy Land”, but the intent is “to make a strong gesture”, “a very important initiative to reopen this road where everyone again feels the need for this peace” and “to hope and dream”, to “restore in political discussions that respite – that is a little lacking – of a vision from above and towards one another, also to have some impact on public opinion”.Both the Israeli and Palestinian delegations are still incomplete. They will most probably be formed of fifteen to twenty people each. It is expected that, with Peres, there will be a representative of the Italian Jewish community, such as the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, Renzo Gattegna. There will surely be the two Argentine friends who accompanied the Pope to the Holy Land, Rabbi Abraham Skorka and the Islamic Omar Abboud. In response to questions from reporters, Lombardi said that it is not expected that Pope Emeritus Joseph Ratzinger will be present, and that Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin did not have a specific role in the preparation of the event. Have Hamas leaders just entered into coalition Palestinian government? “The intent of the event is religious” replied Pizzaballa, “there will not be any representatives of the two governments, but only of Israeli and Palestinian society. This is a pause from politics”.

1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication,(VATICAN IN POLITICS) and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.(THE VATICAN IS BUILT ON 7 HILLS OR MOUNTAINS)

06/ 7/2014 - THE VATICAN INSIDER-The Holy Land, a pebble thrown in the pond by Pope Francis=Francis with Abu Mazen-The disruptive extent of a gesture far from political strategies that can kick-start negotiations-ANDREA TORNIELLI
Vatican city-Tomorrow evening in the Vatican gardens, Pope Francis will try to throw a stone in stagnant negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. He does this by inviting the Israeli and Palestinian presidents, Shimon Peres and Mahmoud Abbas into his home to pray for peace. A «deep breath» event, a «pause» with respect to political-diplomatic dynamics, as defined by father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Custos of the Holy Land, to whom Bergoglio entrusted the organization of the meeting. Therefore, this will not be a summit for new mediations or a road-map. But something more important, from the perspective of a believer in God. A common invocation that Francis wished could have taken place during his trip to the Holy Land. A meeting which, upon invitation of the Pope, also sees the participation of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, to witness how Christian unity is a sign of reconciliation that goes beyond the boundaries of the Churches and belongs to the entire world. The prayers of the three communities - Jewish, Christian and Muslim - will have the same structure: first the reading of texts that speak of creation, God's gift to man; then the recognition that all men are children of God and the request for forgiveness, and lastly the invocation with the call for peace. At the end it is expected that the Pope and the two presidents will speak, but with words of prayer and not political speeches. Each will recite his prayer according to his beliefs: there will be Israelis and Palestinians - Jews, Christians and Muslims - who will pray for peace for their people, without distinction.Since the surprise announcement made by Francis at the end of the Mass celebrated Sunday, May 25th in the Manger in Bethlehem, even those who were impressed by the papal initiative, have wondered what was behind the proposal. Almost as though that prayer could be just bait, a screen, an official excuse to seat Israelis and Palestinians around a table, in front of a new proposal for mediation. But those who thought this were not able to recognize that for Francis there is nothing more effective than prayer: to ask, indeed invoke peace from God involves a commitment to build it «by hand» with each ones commitment in everyday life. The Pope defined both Peres and Abu Mazen as «men of peace». And he knows that both are also believers. That is why this prayer for peace, which Israelis and Palestinians, Jews, Christians and Muslims will separately recite, each according to their faith, but equally for the benefit of the two peoples, is a powerful sign. The peace process today seems to be at a standstill: on the one hand because of the new Palestinian government that Abu Mazen has launched with Hamas (an organization that does not recognize the State of Israel the right to exist); on the other permission to build thousands of new housing units for settlers in the West Bank, new settlements which are added to the many that already exist and that make it increasingly difficult to give birth to a Palestinian state. In announcing the meeting for tomorrow, Pope Francis said: «We all want peace; many people build peace every day with small gestures; many suffer patiently and bear the fatigue of their many attempts to build peace. And everyone - especially those who are at the service of their people - has the duty to become instruments and builders of peace, first of all with prayer. Building peace is hard, but living without peace is a torment. All men and women of this Land and of the whole world are asking us to bring before God their ardent desire for peace».Francis hopes that the prayer movement that will accompany tomorrow’s invocation throughout the world, will make «those who are placed at the service of their people» more aware and more committed to responding effectively to the longing of those who must come to terms each day with this «torment» caused by the absence of peace.Boys from Sha’alavim Religious Boys’ School celebrate their arrival in Israel through song and dance. Temple Mount – Alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays-For the 2nd time this week, police are letting Jews onto the Temple Mount, while preventing Arabs from going up and harassing them.-By: Jewish Press News Briefs-Published: June 5th, 2014
It almost appears like the police are offering alternate days on the Temple Mount between Jews and Muslims. On Tuesday, Shavuot eve, the police closed the Temple Mount to Muslims, and let up Jews, while on Wednesday, Shavuot, the Temple Mount was closed to Jews and open to Muslims. This fine Thursday morning, Isru Chag Shavuot, apparently Jews are being let up, while the Muslims aren’t.The police have apparently implemented this solution as Jewish visitors have been repeatedly harassed and attacked by Muslim rioters on the Temple Mount during their visits. It was recently uncovered that Hamas, a partner in the Palestinian Unity Government (PUG), has been paying Arabs on the Temple Mount to scream, curse and attack Jews who visit the Temple Mount in order to discourage and ruin their visits to the Jewish holy site. Now, all the police have to do is let Jews pray while up there.
