KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - More than 130 climbers were stranded on one of Southeast Asia's highest mountains on Friday after an earthquake rocked parts of the Malaysian state of Sabah on Borneo island, a rescue official said. There had been some injuries and media reported one or two people may have been killed, but there was no official confirmation. The U.S. Geological survey said the epicenter of the six-magnitude quake, which struck in the morning, was about 54 km (33 miles) from the state capital of Kotare Kina.Foreign and domestic hikers flock to Sabah to climb the 4,095-metre (13,435 feet) Mount Kina, where at least 137 people were trapped, the state's fire and rescue department told Reuters. So far 52 climbers had made it down safely, Mod Affined Ramming, the public relations officer for Sabah Fire and Rescue department, said.Climbers from 16 countries had been on the peak, including 117 Malaysians, 38 Singaporeans, five Americans, four Dutch, three British, two French and two Australians, he said. There were also tourists from Belgium, Thailand, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, India, New Zealand, South Korea, Denmark and China."There was a small landslide that cut off access through the usual route up the mountain. Because of this, some people are stuck there and cannot come down. ...They are waiting to be rescued," Mod Affined said.Officials said, and media pictures showed, that the mountain's landmark Donkey's Ears twin peaks had been badly damaged in the quake. Media had reported one or two deaths in the quake and an official said there had been rumors of five to 10, but none has been confirmed.Several rescue teams and villagers were searching for alternative access routes, officials said, but a helicopter search had to be called off because of poor weather. Drops of food, water and warm clothing were being prepared."Rescue operations under way at Mt Kina," Masidi Manjun, Sabah's minister for tourism, said in a post on Twitter. It was not clear how seriously the tourists had been injured but the minister said all climbing had been canceled as loose boulders were still falling.(Editing by Nick Macfie)

Dutch foreign minister to discuss MH17 prosecution in Russia-Reuters-JUNE 5,15- YAHOO NEWS

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders will discuss efforts to prosecute suspects in the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 while in Moscow on Friday, his office said in a statement.
Koenders will also discuss a Russian blacklist of European politicians during a meeting with his counterpart Sergei Lavrov, it said.Roughly two-thirds of the 298 victims of the airline disaster on July 17 were Dutch. Suspects have yet to be identified by Dutch prosecutors. The plane is widely believed to have been shot down with a surface-to-air missile launched by pro-Russian forces in Ukrainian territory, but Moscow denies involvement.A Dutch Safety Board report on the precise cause of the crash is due in October. The Netherlands is leading an international investigation into the disaster and has vowed to prosecute those responsible. But the case is unprecedented and it will be legally and politically challenging to put foreign suspects on trial.(Reporting by Anthony Deutsch; Editing by Tom Heneghan)

Prosecutor: Germanwings pilot contacted dozens of doctors-Associated Press By JAMEY KEATEN-JUNE 5,15-YAHOONEWS

MARSEILLE, France (AP) — A state prosecutor says a co-pilot with a history of depression who crashed a Germanwings airliner into the French Alps had reached out to dozens of doctors ahead of the disaster. The revelation suggests Andreas Lubitz was seeking advice about an undisclosed ailment.Marseille Prosecutor Brice Robin, in comments to The Associated Press late Thursday, would not address the question of what symptoms Lubitz was assessing.Robin is leading a criminal investigation into the March 24 crash that killed all 150 people on board Germanwings Flight 9525. Investigators say Lubitz intentionally destroyed the plane. Robin said he will discuss the investigation with victims' relatives in Paris next week and address efforts to reduce delays in handing over remains. The delays have frustrated some families.A French prosecutor will meet with relatives of victims of the Germanwings crash to discuss his investigation and efforts to reduce administrative delays in handing over the victims' remains to the grieving families. The office of Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin says the meeting will take place June 11 in France's Foreign Ministry in Paris.Robin told The Associated Press late Thursday that he is now receiving information from authorities abroad as he builds his investigation file, but for now "I have decided to prioritize the victims' families."The March 24 crash of Germanwings flight 9525 in the French Alps killed all 150 people on board.
