Palestinian victims describe being used as shields by Hamas
Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. According to the victims, those who tried to object were shot in the legs by Hamas.

Several months ago the Temple Institute was delighted to announce the birth of a perfect red heifer in the USA. This heifer was a proper and fitting candidate for the ‘ordinance of the red heifer’ (Numbers Ch. 19), which is a prerequisite for the restoration of purity and the ultimate resumption of the Divine service in the Holy Temple. The heifer was born to friends of the Temple Institute, who promptly notified the Institute and communicated their intentions to raise the animal in strict accordance with the requirements of Biblical law and ultimately, to donate the heifer to the people of Israel through the Institute.The news of the red heifer’s birth generated tremendous interest internationally and created palpable excitement for many who understood the historical and spiritual significance of the event and its propitious repercussions for Israel and all mankind.The Temple Institute began to make preliminary arrangements for the shipment of the heifer to Israel, as well as provisions for the heifer’s care upon arrival.Unfortunately upon recent inspection it has become clear that Talia, as she is affectionately known, has become disqualified for use for the ordinance of the red heifer and is now unfit according to Biblical law. This is on account of a change of pigmentation in a patch of skin, as well as the appearance of white hairs in the affected area. Changes of this nature are not uncommon occurrences in the bovine world as a heifer matures, a fact that contributes to the rarity of finding a perfectly pure, kosher red heifer.But it can happen, there are perfect red heifers out there, and with G-d’s help the Temple Institute shall continue its search and locate operation. We know that the heifer needed to reestablish purity is out there, or on the way. We ask our friends to keep an eye out, and keep us informed! The past few weeks of planning for the red heifer with our friends in the USA has been a very productive and important experience, in which the Institute geared up for what became a ‘practice drill,’ and in retrospect it is obvious that this was a Divinely-orchaestrated episode which has enabled us to become more prepared and better equipped when the red heifer project becomes a reality.We take this opportunity to thank Talia’s owners, whose great modesty and righteousness prevents them from seeking any public acknowledgment. Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. Several months ago the Temple Institute was delighted to announce the birth of a perfect red heifer in the USA. This heifer was a proper and fitting candidate for the ‘ordinance of the red heifer’ (Numbers Ch. 19), which is a prerequisite for the restoration of purity and the ultimate resumption of the Divine service in the Holy Temple. The heifer was born to friends of the Temple Institute, who promptly notified the Institute and communicated their intentions to raise the animal in strict accordance with the requirements of Biblical law and ultimately, to donate the heifer to the people of Israel through the Institute.The news of the red heifer’s birth generated tremendous interest internationally and created palpable excitement for many who understood the historical and spiritual significance of the event and its propitious repercussions for Israel and all mankind.The Temple Institute began to make preliminary arrangements for the shipment of the heifer to Israel, as well as provisions for the heifer’s care upon arrival.Unfortunately upon recent inspection it has become clear that Talia, as she is affectionately known, has become disqualified for use for the ordinance of the red heifer and is now unfit according to Biblical law. This is on account of a change of pigmentation in a patch of skin, as well as the appearance of white hairs in the affected area. Changes of this nature are not uncommon occurrences in the bovine world as a heifer matures, a fact that contributes to the rarity of finding a perfectly pure, kosher red heifer.But it can happen, there are perfect red heifers out there, and with G-d’s help the Temple Institute shall continue its search and locate operation. We know that the heifer needed to reestablish purity is out there, or on the way. We ask our friends to keep an eye out, and keep us informed! Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon noted that the campaign will continue until peace returns to southern and central Israel."I would not advise anyone to trade places with anyone living in the Gaza Strip," Ya'alon stated. The Defense Minister also said that he holds Hamas responsible for all casualties - civilian or otherwise - after it broke a six day-long truce by firing a constant rain of rockets on Israeli civilians. As of Wednesday night, the rocket count is nearing 200 rockets in 48 hours."We will pursue the terrorists of Hamas and the organization's leaders . . . [at] every opportunity that we have," Ya'alon said."I suggest you not be impressed by Hamas's bravado," Ya'alon added, stating that Hamas is very vulnerable and is suffering from huge losses at the moment.Ya'alon emphasized that Operation Protective Edge is conducted responsibly, judiciously, wisely and intelligently and that the government continues to work to ensure Israel's safety."As one who fought all his life for the State of Israel, I keep saying: we will not rest, we will not be silent until we respond to the rocket fire," he said. Terrorists from Gaza fired a barrage of rockets towards southern Israel on Wednesday evening.Shortly after 11:00 p.m., sirens were heard in the vicinity of Ashdod as well as in Sderot and the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.At least three rockets were fired towards the region, one of which was intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system over Ashdod. GAZA/JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli air strike in Gaza killed the wife and infant son of Hamas's military leader, Mohammed Deif, the group said, calling it an attempt to assassinate him after a ceasefire collapsed.Palestinians launched more than 180 rockets on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly at southern Israel, with some intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, the military said. No casualties were reported on the Israeli side.Egypt, which has been trying to broker a long-term ceasefire in indirect Israeli-Palestinian talks, said it would continue contacts with both sides, whose delegates left Cairo after the hostilities resumed on Tuesday.But there appeared to be no end in sight to violence that shattered a 10-day period of calm, the longest break from fighting since Israel launched its Gaza offensive on July 8 with the declared aim of ending rocket fire into its territory.Israeli aircraft have carried out more than 100 strikes in the Gaza Strip since Tuesday, Defence Minister Moshe Ya'alon said, the military adding it was "targeting terror sites".Hamas and medical officials said 23 people had died in the latest Israeli raids, including Deif's wife and seven-month-old son. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declined to say whether Deif had been targeted, but he reaffirmed Israel's longstanding policy of considering militant leaders as legitimate targets, adding that "none are immune" from attack.Netanyahu said Israel's Gaza campaign could last for a while.
