Five Jewish Israelis were arrested Monday after allegedly attempting to sacrifice a goat at the Temple Mount in honor of the Passover holiday.The suspects were brought in to a nearby police station for further questioning. The goat was transferred to representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ynet reported.In the bible,a special ritual sacrifice is commanded on the Passover holiday and the custom was practiced by Jews during the First and Second Temple periods when their central shrine stood on the same site that today houses the al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock . However, most rabbinic authorities hold that the practice is forbidden nowadays.Earlier Monday, Palestinian entry to the Temple Mount was restricted by Israeli security forces ahead of Passover. Only Muslim women and men over the age of 50 who have Israeli ID cards were permitted to enter the compound.Tourists and Jews were barred from entering the site out of concern for potential altercations.Disturbances on the Temple Mount are not uncommon, and often accompany political tension or visits by Israeli right-wing activists.On Sunday, riot police were called in to quell a violent protest at the Temple Mount’s Mughrabi gate as the site opened to visitors in the morning.Two police were lightly injured after rioters threw stones and two Molotov cocktails at about 8 a.m., police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said.Police responded by entering the al-Aqsa mosque compound and using stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the rioters, he said.

WASHINGTON — Yelling “Heil Hitler” from the back of a police car shortly after he gunned down three people at Kansas City Jewish facilities, Frazier Glenn Miller Jr. left little room to doubt that the motive for Sunday’s deadly attack was anything but a hate crime.The 73-year-old suspect, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacist candidate for political office, has a long history of anti-Semitic violence and hate crimes, including involvement in at least one other murder.Miller, who also goes by the alias Fraiser Glenn Cross Jr., founded the North Carolina-based White Patriot Party, an offshoot of the Ku Klux Klan, in 1980. In 1984 he ran in North Carolina’s Democratic primary for the governorship, garnering 5,790 votes – 0.61% of the total votes cast. He later attempted in 1986 to run in the North Carolina Republic primary for a Senate seat.Miller was also involved in more violent activism. In 1984, while he ran for office in North Carolina, he and other members of a racist hate group that called itself “The Order” were accused of murdering liberal Jewish talk show host Alan Berg in Denver, Colorado.Miller, however, agreed to testify against ten co-conspirators in exchange for a reduced sentence. With the help of Miller’s testimony, four conspirators were convicted under the anti-crime organization RICO statutes.The testimony did not keep him out of prison for long. Shortly thereafter, Miller was served a court order to refrain from operating paramilitary groups after the Southern Poverty Law Center presented evidence that Miller and his followers were planning to assassinate SPLC founder Morris Dees. Danon expressed satisfaction with the decision of Jewish Home (Bayit Yehudi) and others to adopt his position, and place the fourth batch of terrorist releases as a "red line" for remaining in the coalition government.When asked whether the various Deputy Ministers have coordinated a political walk-out, Danon stated that the issue is not a matter of coordinating politically - but, rather, coordinating shared values [to present to the government]."You have to stand firm," he said, over the possibility of a terrorist release. Iran’s nuclear chief asserted Sunday that under the terms of the recently agreed upon treaty with the West, the Islamic Republic has the right to enrich uranium to 90% grade.“Firstly, we believe that we are entitled to any right that any Non-Proliferation Treaty and [International Atomic Energy] Agency member has, which means that enrichment from 1% to 90% is our right,” Ali Akbar Salehi said in an interview Sunday, according to a translation provided by the Iranian Fars News network.Salehi, who serves as the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, added that his country was also considering building four more nuclear power plants in the coming years, with the help of Russian experts.In a different interview, Salehi raised concerns for the fate of the country’s only running atomic power plant amid talks with the West about a final deal to curb Tehran’s controversial nuclear program, a newspaper reported on Monday.The government-run daily “Iran” quoted Salehi, the Iranian negotiator in talks with six world powers, as saying that Iran needs 30,000 more centrifuges to enrich uranium and produce enough nuclear fuel to run its Bushehr power plant for a year.World powers negotiating a final nuclear deal with Iran want a reduction — not an increase — in the number of centrifuges Tehran is operating to remove concerns that the Islamic Republic may use its enrichment capabilities to build a nuclear weapon.Centrifuges enrich uranium to produce nuclear fuel but can also be a pathway to atomic arms, depending on the level of enrichment. Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only, such as generating electricity and producing radioisotopes to treat cancer patients. Russia provides fuel for the 1,000-megawatt facility, but Iran says it wants to be self-sufficient and not remain dependent on foreign suppliers for nuclear fuel.According to Salehi, Iran needs 50,000 centrifuges to make enough nuclear fuel for Bushehr for one year. It currently has about 20,000 centrifuges — but only around 9,000 of them are spinning and enriching uranium.If a definite deal with world powers is reached, it’s unlikely it would allow Tehran to install the additional centrifuges.“To meet the annual fuel needs of the Bushehr plant, we must have 50,000 first generation centrifuges in order to be able to produce 30 tons of nuclear fuel a year,” Salehi said. SLAVIANSK/KIEV (Reuters) - Pro-Russian separatists on Monday ignored an ultimatum to leave occupied government buildings in eastern Ukraine while another group of rebels attacked a police headquarters as a threatened military offensive by government forces failed to materialize.Rebels in the town of Slaviansk, which was expected on Monday to be the focus of a broad government "anti-terrorist" operation involving the army, issued a bold call for Russian President Vladimir Putin to help them.Though he said on Monday that the offensive was going ahead, Ukraine's interim president Oleksander Turchinov sacked the state security chief in charge of the operation, signaling possible discord behind the scenes.Turchinov also took a risky step to try to undercut rebels' demands, by holding out the prospect of a referendum on the future shape of the Ukrainian state. Berlin - Russia spends more on arms compared to its GDP than the US and European countries, according to fresh figures released Monday (14 April) by Sipri, a military spending research group.The US remains the world's top military spender in gross terms (€460bn), but its spending decreased by over 7 percent compared to the previous year, mainly because of the withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.Also in proportional terms, US military spending represents only 3.8 percent of its GDP, while Russia (€63.4bn) has increased its arms budget to 4.1 percent of GDP in 2013, compared to 3.5 percent in 2004.Russia’s spending has risen as it continues to implement the State Armaments Plan for 2011–20, under which it plans to spend 20.7 trillion roubles (€403bn) on new and upgraded armaments. The goal is to replace 70 percent of equipment with ‘modern’ weapons by 2020.Ukraine, on the brink of a war with the invading Russian neighbour, has also increased its military spending by 16 percent compared to the previous year.China, the world's second-largest military spender, has also upped its budget to an estimated €135 billion in 2013, representing two percent of its GDP, according to Sipri.There are four European countries in the top 15 of largest military spenders in the world.France (€44bn), which last year ranked fourth after Russia, has now slipped behind Saudi Arabia, on rank five. Compared to 2004-2013, France has slashed its military budget by 6.4 percent.Britain is behind France, with €41 billion in military spending, a decrease by two percent compared to the previous decade.Germany, ranking seventh in the world (€35.2bn), is the only European country to have increased its military spending compared to 2004-2013, by 3.8 percent.Italy, by contrast, has slashed its arms spending by 26 percent, ranking 11th in the world with a budget of €23.6 billion in 2013.Falls of over 10 percent in military spendig since 2008 have also been recorded in Austria, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, as well as all countries in central Europe except Poland and Estonia.

There, wearing red vestments, the Argentinean Pope blessed the palms and then joined the procession to the altar on the steps of the basilica.Standing under the central loggia of the basilica, holding a wooden crozier made for him by detainees in Sanremo prison, Francis listened with great concentration to the reading of the Gospel account of the Passion and death of Jesus. Five Jewish Israelis were arrested Monday after allegedly attempting to sacrifice a goat at the Temple Mount in honor of the Passover holiday.The suspects were brought in to a nearby police station for further questioning. The goat was transferred to representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ynet reported.In the bible,a special ritual sacrifice is commanded on the Passover holiday and the custom was practiced by Jews during the First and Second Temple periods when their central shrine stood on the same site that today houses the al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock . However, most rabbinic authorities hold that the practice is forbidden nowadays.Earlier Monday, Palestinian entry to the Temple Mount was restricted by Israeli security forces ahead of Passover. Only Muslim women and men over the age of 50 who have Israeli ID cards were permitted to enter the compound.Tourists and Jews were barred from entering the site out of concern for potential altercations.Disturbances on the Temple Mount are not uncommon, and often accompany political tension or visits by Israeli right-wing activists.On Sunday, riot police were called in to quell a violent protest at the Temple Mount’s Mughrabi gate as the site opened to visitors in the morning.Two police were lightly injured after rioters threw stones and two Molotov cocktails at about 8 a.m., police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said.Police responded by entering the al-Aqsa mosque compound and using stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the rioters, he said.

WASHINGTON — Yelling “Heil Hitler” from the back of a police car shortly after he gunned down three people at Kansas City Jewish facilities, Frazier Glenn Miller Jr. left little room to doubt that the motive for Sunday’s deadly attack was anything but a hate crime.The 73-year-old suspect, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacist candidate for political office, has a long history of anti-Semitic violence and hate crimes, including involvement in at least one other murder.Miller, who also goes by the alias Fraiser Glenn Cross Jr., founded the North Carolina-based White Patriot Party, an offshoot of the Ku Klux Klan, in 1980. In 1984 he ran in North Carolina’s Democratic primary for the governorship, garnering 5,790 votes – 0.61% of the total votes cast. He later attempted in 1986 to run in the North Carolina Republic primary for a Senate seat.Miller was also involved in more violent activism. In 1984, while he ran for office in North Carolina, he and other members of a racist hate group that called itself “The Order” were accused of murdering liberal Jewish talk show host Alan Berg in Denver, Colorado.Miller, however, agreed to testify against ten co-conspirators in exchange for a reduced sentence. With the help of Miller’s testimony, four conspirators were convicted under the anti-crime organization RICO statutes.The testimony did not keep him out of prison for long. Shortly thereafter, Miller was served a court order to refrain from operating paramilitary groups after the Southern Poverty Law Center presented evidence that Miller and his followers were planning to assassinate SPLC founder Morris Dees. The SPLC has cited Miller as an early pioneer in forming white supremacist groups around a paramilitary model.Miller failed to comply with the court order, and in 1987 law enforcement agents tear-gassed him out of an Ozark, Missouri mobile home.Facing a long string of federal charges, Miller once again agreed to turn on his fellow white supremacists and testified against several during a federal sedition trial in Arkansas, in exchange for a reduced, three-year sentence in federal prison. His incarceration did, however, bring to an end the seven-year run of the White Patriot Party, which dissolved upon his prison term.Upon his release, Miller wrote an autobiography detailing his white supremacist beliefs. After moving to Aurora, Missouri, he became involved with the Vanguard News Network, an anti-Semitic website whose motto is “No Jews, Just Right.” According to the SPLC, Miller has posted on the site more than 12,000 times.In a 2010 interview with Jewish radio show host Howard Stern, Miller was asked who he hated more, Jews or African-Americans, to which he responded, “Jews. A thousand times more. Compared to our Jewish problem, all other problems are mere distractions.”
At around this time Miller renewed his interest in politics, and ran for a Missouri senate seat in 2010. Utilizing campaign broadcasting spots to air his beliefs, the advertisements caused an uproar in Missouri. Following a challenge to the legality of his candidacy, Miller leaped to national prominence when the Federal Communications Commission upheld his candidacy, entitling him to continue to broadcast his political advertisements.According to the SPLC, Miller did not indicate – at least to his wife, Marge – that he had any intent of carrying out Sunday’s shootings. Instead, she said, the former Klansman had gone to a Missouri casino on Saturday afternoon, calling home the next morning to say that he had won money. The Overland Park shootings occurred less than three hours after that phone call – and law enforcement agents confirmed to Marge Miller that her husband had been arrested in connection with the attack.

Danon expressed satisfaction with the decision of Jewish Home (Bayit Yehudi) and others to adopt his position, and place the fourth batch of terrorist releases as a "red line" for remaining in the coalition government.When asked whether the various Deputy Ministers have coordinated a political walk-out, Danon stated that the issue is not a matter of coordinating politically - but, rather, coordinating shared values [to present to the government]."You have to stand firm," he said, over the possibility of a terrorist release. Iran’s nuclear chief asserted Sunday that under the terms of the recently agreed upon treaty with the West, the Islamic Republic has the right to enrich uranium to 90% grade.“Firstly, we believe that we are entitled to any right that any Non-Proliferation Treaty and [International Atomic Energy] Agency member has, which means that enrichment from 1% to 90% is our right,” Ali Akbar Salehi said in an interview Sunday, according to a translation provided by the Iranian Fars News network.Salehi, who serves as the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, added that his country was also considering building four more nuclear power plants in the coming years, with the help of Russian experts.In a different interview, Salehi raised concerns for the fate of the country’s only running atomic power plant amid talks with the West about a final deal to curb Tehran’s controversial nuclear program, a newspaper reported on Monday.The government-run daily “Iran” quoted Salehi, the Iranian negotiator in talks with six world powers, as saying that Iran needs 30,000 more centrifuges to enrich uranium and produce enough nuclear fuel to run its Bushehr power plant for a year.World powers negotiating a final nuclear deal with Iran want a reduction — not an increase — in the number of centrifuges Tehran is operating to remove concerns that the Islamic Republic may use its enrichment capabilities to build a nuclear weapon.Centrifuges enrich uranium to produce nuclear fuel but can also be a pathway to atomic arms, depending on the level of enrichment. Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only, such as generating electricity and producing radioisotopes to treat cancer patients. Russia provides fuel for the 1,000-megawatt facility, but Iran says it wants to be self-sufficient and not remain dependent on foreign suppliers for nuclear fuel.According to Salehi, Iran needs 50,000 centrifuges to make enough nuclear fuel for Bushehr for one year. It currently has about 20,000 centrifuges — but only around 9,000 of them are spinning and enriching uranium.If a definite deal with world powers is reached, it’s unlikely it would allow Tehran to install the additional centrifuges.“To meet the annual fuel needs of the Bushehr plant, we must have 50,000 first generation centrifuges in order to be able to produce 30 tons of nuclear fuel a year,” Salehi said. SLAVIANSK/KIEV (Reuters) - Pro-Russian separatists on Monday ignored an ultimatum to leave occupied government buildings in eastern Ukraine while another group of rebels attacked a police headquarters as a threatened military offensive by government forces failed to materialize.Rebels in the town of Slaviansk, which was expected on Monday to be the focus of a broad government "anti-terrorist" operation involving the army, issued a bold call for Russian President Vladimir Putin to help them.Though he said on Monday that the offensive was going ahead, Ukraine's interim president Oleksander Turchinov sacked the state security chief in charge of the operation, signaling possible discord behind the scenes.Turchinov also took a risky step to try to undercut rebels' demands, by holding out the prospect of a referendum on the future shape of the Ukrainian state. He suggested this could be held at the same time as a presidential election on May 25.The European Union threatened Russia with more sanctions over its actions in eastern Ukraine, which Britain said was being destabilized by Moscow, although some EU states said diplomacy should be given more time.As the 9 a.m. deadline issued by authorities in Kiev expired, a Reuters reporter in the flashpoint city of Slaviansk, where armed men had seized two government buildings, saw nothing to show the rebels were obeying the ultimatum.But one of the rebel leaders, in an appeal issued through journalists, asked Putin to "help us as much as you can".Also in Slaviansk, about 150 km (90 miles) from the Russian border, a small airfield which was occupied by Ukrainian air force planes on Sunday was empty on Monday and pro-separatist forces said they were now in control of it.In the city of Horlivka, meanwhile, about 100 pro-Russian separatists attacked the police headquarters, a witness told Reuters. Turchinov and other leaders blame Russia, which annexed Crimea when Moscow-backed Yanukovich fled after months of pro-Western protests, for backing a rash of rebellions in Slaviansk and other Russian-speaking towns in eastern Ukraine.Turchinov said the Kiev leadership was "not against" a nationwide referendum being held on the type of state Ukraine should be and added he was sure it would confirm the wish of the majority for a united, independent country.A referendum has been one of the demands of the separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine, although they envisage a poll being held only in their home region. Three EU countries back Ukraine's use of force

BRUSSELS - Lithuania, Luxembourg and Sweden have explicitly backed Ukraine’s right to use force against pro-Russian separatists.Lithuania’s UN envoy, Raimonda Murmokaite, and her Luxembourg counterpart, Olivier Maes, made the statements at a snap UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting in New York on Sunday (13 April).“When the existence of the state is put in danger, we support the right of Ukraine to defend itself in the face of external aggression and to tackle militant separatism and continuous provocations,” Murmokaite said.“Ukraine has the right to defend herself under article 51 of the United Nations charter,” Maes noted.Sweden, which is not on the UNSC, added through its foreign minister, Carl Bildt, on Twitter: “If illegal armed groups took over police stations and local government offices in Sweden we would use all our instruments to restore order.”The statements came hours before the expiry on Monday morning of an ultimatum issued by Ukraine’s caretaker government for armed pro-Russian separatists to cede control of government buildings in several cities in the eastern regions of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Luhansk.Ukraine said three people were already killed in clashes in the small hours of Monday on the outskirts of Slaviansk and in Slaviansk city centre.The UNSC meeting was called by Russia, which, according to the US and the UK, has 40,000 elite troops massed on the Ukrainian-Russian border.The Russian UN envoy, Vitaly Churkin, urged Wesern powers to stop Kiev from taking action.“Let’s concentrate attention on what we can do – in this case I'm directing my eyesight at my Western colleagues – in order to prevent the Kiev authorities’ reckless actions, which at this moment are embodied in the criminal order of [acting Ukrainian president] Mr. Turchynov, and to prevent the realisation of this order, which will have the most severe implications primarily for the people of Ukraine,” he said.He described the Kiev authorities as “national radicals and chauvinists, Russophobic, anti-Semitic forces” and threatened to call off a meeting between the EU, Russia, Ukraine and the US in Geneva on Thursday.Churkin got limited support from UNSC member Rwanda, whose envoy, Eugene-Richard Gasana, said: “Rwanda remains of the view that military action will only worsen the already tense situation.”But Australia, France, the UK and the US joined the smaller EU states in condemning Russia’s actions.Commenting on the escalation in eastern Ukraine since 6 April, the US’ Samantha Power said: “We know who is behind this. Indeed, the only entity in the area capable of these co-ordinated, professional military actions is Russia.”Britain’s Mark Lyall Grant noted: “The international community is not fooled by the Kremlin’s use of propaganda and misinformation . . . what we are witnessing is a well-orchestrated campaign designed to destabilise the country.”He described Russia's actions as “tactics drawn from the darkest days of the last century”.France’s Gerard Araud also complained about Russia’s massive hike in Ukraine gas prices and its blockade of Ukrainian exports in recent days. “The economic pressure is biting more and more,” he said.The EU and US have threatened to impose economic sanctions on Russia and to blacklist more Russian officials if it invades mainland Ukraine.But EU foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg on Monday are not ready to go ahead if the crisis escalates suddenly.The ministers are still waiting for the European Commission to prepare a sanctions options paper, due mid-week, among disagreement between EU countries on how far to go."I don't think we'll see tier-three [economic] sanctions tomorrow, but it's very difficult to envisage not seeing anything after the events of the weekend," a Western diplomatic source told Reuters on Sunday."The real question will be to see whether [EU] member states agree to ask [the EU foreign service] to prepare an additional list of restrictive measures,” a senior EU official told the news agency.

Berlin - Russia spends more on arms compared to its GDP than the US and European countries, according to fresh figures released Monday (14 April) by Sipri, a military spending research group.The US remains the world's top military spender in gross terms (€460bn), but its spending decreased by over 7 percent compared to the previous year, mainly because of the withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.Also in proportional terms, US military spending represents only 3.8 percent of its GDP, while Russia (€63.4bn) has increased its arms budget to 4.1 percent of GDP in 2013, compared to 3.5 percent in 2004.Russia’s spending has risen as it continues to implement the State Armaments Plan for 2011–20, under which it plans to spend 20.7 trillion roubles (€403bn) on new and upgraded armaments. The goal is to replace 70 percent of equipment with ‘modern’ weapons by 2020.Ukraine, on the brink of a war with the invading Russian neighbour, has also increased its military spending by 16 percent compared to the previous year.China, the world's second-largest military spender, has also upped its budget to an estimated €135 billion in 2013, representing two percent of its GDP, according to Sipri.There are four European countries in the top 15 of largest military spenders in the world.France (€44bn), which last year ranked fourth after Russia, has now slipped behind Saudi Arabia, on rank five. Compared to 2004-2013, France has slashed its military budget by 6.4 percent.Britain is behind France, with €41 billion in military spending, a decrease by two percent compared to the previous decade.Germany, ranking seventh in the world (€35.2bn), is the only European country to have increased its military spending compared to 2004-2013, by 3.8 percent.Italy, by contrast, has slashed its arms spending by 26 percent, ranking 11th in the world with a budget of €23.6 billion in 2013.Falls of over 10 percent in military spendig since 2008 have also been recorded in Austria, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, as well as all countries in central Europe except Poland and Estonia.

rome-Pope Francis opened Holy Week in Rome on Palm Sunday, April 13, by blessing palms and participating in the procession in St Peter’s Square that recalled Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem before his Passion and death almost 2000 years ago.More than 100,000 pilgrims from many countries, including tens of thousands of young people, waved palms and olive branches as the Pope arrived in a white jeep at the obelisk in the center of the Square. There, wearing red vestments, the Argentinean Pope blessed the palms and then joined the procession to the altar on the steps of the basilica.Standing under the central loggia of the basilica, holding a wooden crozier made for him by detainees in Sanremo prison, Francis listened with great concentration to the reading of the Gospel account of the Passion and death of Jesus. When it ended, he cast aside his prepared text and delivered a profound, incisive, off-the-cuff reflection on the Gospel that had been read in Italian.Speaking in a soft, reflective way, to the crowd that listened in total silence, he recalled that in the Gospel account they had heard the names of many people who participated in the final dramatic events of Jesus life, and then he asked: “Which of these am I like? Who am I before Jesus (this Holy week)?” He then went on to articulate that question with a series of pungent follow-up questions.“Am I like the children who shout out and praise him, or am I like the leadership group – the priests, the Pharisees, and the masters of the Law -who stay at a distance? Or am I like Judas who pretends to love Jesus and kisses him, but then betrays him for money?” he asked.“Am I like the disciples who don’t understand who will betray him, and sleep-on ignoring what is happening to him?” he said. “Or am I like Pilate who when the situation becomes difficult, washes his hands and allows Jesus to be condemned? Or am I like the crowd who did not understand whether they were at a religious gathering, a judgment or a circus, and opted to free Barabbas (rather than Jesus)? Or am I like the soldiers who hit, mock and humiliate him? “, the Jesuit Pope asked.Then referring to the good people in the passion narrative, he asked whether “we” are like them: “Am I like Simon of Cyrene who returning home after work, tired, has still the good will to help Jesus carry his Cross? Am I like those courageous women, and the mother of Jesus, who were there (with Jesus), suffering in silence to the end? Am I like Joseph (of Aramathea), the hidden disciple, who took the body of Jesus out of love to give it a burial? Then every two or three years it is also held at an international WYD. He recalled too that the Polish Pope had given the young people a WYD Cross that is carried throughout the country where the international WYD is to be held.Last year WYD was held in Rio di Janeiro, and on this Palm Sunday young Brazilians had brought the WYD Cross to St Peter’s Square to hand it over to young people from Poland where the next WYD will be held in Krakow, July 2016. The Pope watched this happen and then met the young delegates from both countries, and had “selfie” photos taken with them.He recalled how John Paul II had started WYD in St Peter’s Square thirty years ago. He said he would canonize the Polish Pope, together with John XXIII, on April 27, and announced that henceforth John Paul II will be the patron saint of WYD and will accompany the young from heaven.Pope Francis concluded by announcing that, “God willing”, he will travel to South Korea for a meeting with young Asians on August 15. Sources told Vatican Insider that young people from 29 Asian countries are expected to attend that event in Daejeon.At the end of the three hour long ceremony, Pope Francis greeted the cardinals who had concelebrated the mass with him, and then, in an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and joy, he drove in a white jeep among the crowd in the square and the Via della Conciliazione, kissing many children, and greeting the sick and incapacitated people in wheel chairs.
This was but the beginning of what will be a very busy two weeks for this greatly loved Pope from Argentina.
