TORONTO – Toronto police are investigating e-mail threats made against Coun. Doug Ford’s family, including his daughter.Mayor Rob Ford said he could not say much about the incident.“A threat came in and the police are handling it — that’s all I can say right now,” he said.Coun. Ford said there have been serious threats made towards his family nearly daily. On Thursday, KiSS 92.5′s Maurie Sherman spoke with Coun. Ford about the e-mail threats.“There’s more than one threat; there’s one letter, but there’s few other letters too, and they said some brutal things they would do to my daughter,” Coun. Ford said.“I’m worried about my four girls … if anyone saw this letter and other letters that I have too, you’d be worried about your family,” he added.Coun. Ford sent a copy of one of the e-mails to Sherman. It indicated the e-mail was from a name and precise Toronto address, which Sherman traced to a phone number. He then called the person, who said they denied they sent the e-mail.“I can’t answer any questions. I’ll only answer for a judge,” the man said.680News cannot verify that this is the person who wrote the e-mail.Police Chief Bill Blair told 680News his force is taking the e-mail very seriously. In the video below, Chief Blair said officers are investigating, saying the e-mail was “threatening and concerning.”

Published reports have identified the house where a notorious photo of Rob Ford posing with suspected drug dealers was taken, but Toronto's mayor has refused to comment on the Windsor Road residence.
CBC News has confirmed that an assault occurred at the Windsor Road house, just days after news broke that two news outlets had been approached about buying a video purporting to show Ford smoking what appears to be crack cocaine. The men trying to sell the video provided Gawker and the Toronto Star with a photo of Ford arm in arm with Anthony Smith — a 21-year-old who was shot dead in March outside a Toronto nightclub — and two other men in front of the Windsor Road house.Police responded to a call from that home regarding an assault in progress at around 11 p.m on May 21. They confirmed Thursday that a man forcibly entered the home and assaulted two people inside with “some kind of pipe.”A 31-year-old female and a 44-year-old male suffered minor injuries, including a cut on the left cheek and a blow to the head. The attacker, who ran out the front door in an "unknown direction," was described as a black male in his mid-30s wearing dark clothing. Police told CBC News that they have "no information that the suspect was looking for a video," as some news outlets have alleged, but did say he was specifically looking for one of the victims. When officers arrived to investigate, there was "not much" co-operation from residents of the home, police said.Meanwhile, the editor of Gawker said earlier this week that the gossip site's main contact for the alleged video now says its main contact fears the footage is "gone."Ford has denied he uses crack and has denied the video exists."I do not use crack cocaine, nor am I an addict of crack cocaine," he told a news conference at city hall.

(Trevor Dunn/CBC)The house where the photo was taken is on Windsor Road in northwest Toronto, near Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road, according to the reports Thursday.Reporters asked Ford about the Windsor Road house on Thursday, but he refused to respond.CBC News went to the house on Thursday morning. There was no answer at the door of the beige brick bungalow, which appears to have exterior details that match those in the photo.
"Neighbours say an older woman lives in this home, but they also see younger men here and they believe they are tenants," reported the CBC's Trevor Dunn.Dunn spoke to a man who lives across the street, who saw police activity on the street on May 21."My dad said he heard some loud noise," the man told CBC News. "He came out and said less like than half an hour later there were four or five or six cop cars ... they were canvassing the area."

Ford refuses questions about Windsor house

In a brief appearance before the media on Thursday afternoon, Ford underscored the $248-million budgetary surplus achieved under his administration.Ford added that the money would not be spent on "filling holes" in bloated operating budgets — instead, he said roughly $186 million will go toward transit priorities and traffic congestion, and another $62 million dollars will be spent on "liabilities" like aging infrastructure.
"Folks, it all comes down to trust," he said. "You trust us to put your hard-earned money where it needs to go."Ford subsequently took two questions. The first was about a controversial tax that contributed toward the surplus, but which he has previously pledged to get rid of."I'm the first to admit I will not be able to get rid of the whole land transfer tax, what I am going to try to do is get rid of 10 per cent by the end of this year," he said.In response to a second question, Ford said he was "pretty floored" by allegations that Toronto Community Housing is failing to protect seniors from unfair evictions, but said he must have some key conversations before reacting further.Reporters who asked about the Windsor Road house, however, were met with a now familiar reply from Ford."I guess there's no more questions," he said, before walking out of the room.

A man with ties to Mayor Rob Ford’s sister prompted a swarm of police cars to descend on the Mayor’s home Wednesday morning, leading to one arrest.Police have charged Scott MacIntyre, 45, with forcible entry and two counts of threatening death. The accused, who was in a relationship with Kathy Ford, also stands charged with possession of heroin and cocaine. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
“No comment,” said Ms. Ford’s daughter, who answered the phone at Mr. MacIntyre’s house on Wednesday night.Mr. MacIntyre was Kathy Ford’s boyfriend in 2005, when he was charged with numerous weapons offences after Ms. Ford was accidentally shot in the head with a shotgun.“I’m all right, the kids are all right,” Mr. Ford said in a brief statement outside his home Wednesday afternoon, before hopping into his minivan to head to City Hall.Appearing calm, Mr. Ford would not say whether he knew the early-morning visitor, who left the property upon request. No one was injured.“The whole thing was over pretty quickly,” the Mayor said, noting his life had not been threatened. “He took off and that was it.”Councillor Doug Ford, the Mayor’s brother, earlier described the incident as a “breach of security,” but would not elaborate further. Councillor Ford added that while nobody was in danger at any point, his brother should look at adopting a security detail.Indeed, this is not the first threat against Mayor Ford, whose controversial fiscal policy has divided city council and residents. Last summer, two men were arrested for issuing death threats against the Mayor; one called the city’s information line, and the other used social media.“It’s a big city and you just never know,” said Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday, who revealed he has also received repeated threatening phone calls from an individual “not happy with the direction we’re taking here.” They were serious enough that he forwarded the calls to City Hall security. While such threats often turn out to be “hot air,” Mr. Holyday said, “it’s a matter you won’t want to take lightly and you have to be aware of your circumstances.”
Councillor Paul Ainslie, a member of the Ford executive, agreed the Mayor should seriously consider hiring protection.“I think most big city mayors have some type of security,” Mr. Ainslie said, adding it would be appropriate for the city to foot the bill. “There are a lot of unstable people out there, and they know where you live and you’ve got a family and you want to make sure they’re safe.”A résumé posted online notes that Mr. MacIntyre worked from 1999 to 2010 as a shipper/receiver/expediter at “Anything Goes Ltd.” At the time of Ms. Ford’s 2005 shooting, Mr. MacIntyre was using a shotgun to break up an argument between two friends when it accidentally discharged and grazed Ms. Ford’s head, according to Toronto Police. The shooting occurred at the upscale home of Ms. Ford’s parents, Diane and Doug, who was a Conservative MPP in Mike Harris’s Tory government. Ms. Ford suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was released from hospital after two surgeries. Mr. MacIntyre’s charges were reportedly withdrawn. In 1998, Ms. Ford was present when her estranged husband, Ennio Stirpe, shot and killed the father of her daughter, Mike Kiklas. On Wednesday, Mayor Ford brushed off suggestions about enhanced security. “What are you going to do?” Mr. Ford said. “You can’t have a police officer here all the time. The police were here within seconds…. It’s good, I’m fine. You know, just live every day and just keep working hard.” Mr. Ford said he did not call police, suggesting a neighbour had done so.Earlier in the day, a young man in a red, two-door Chevrolet with the licence plate M D FORD, who identified himself as a relative of the Mayor, declined to comment as he entered the home. “I’m in no mood to talk,” he said.Neighbours eager for details said they were worried about what might have happened at the Ford residence. “I’m concerned with the kids,” said Tony Roccia, who first noticed police cars outside the Mayor’s home at 9 a.m. “[Mr. Ford] is a friend to us…. He’s a good man,” Allan Becirovic added.National Post
