The fast day of the 10th of the Hebrew month of Tevet, which begins
at dawn on Sunday and ends when the stars come out, commences in

walls, but he finally succeeded on the 17th day of the Hebrew month of
Tammuz, in the year 586 B.C.E (some claim it was in 420 B.C.E), on which
date the second fast was declared.Only one month later, on Tisha B'Av -- the Ninth of Av -- the first
Holy Temple was destroyed, and the Jewish People were sent out into
exile to Babylonia for the next 70 years. The prophet Jeremiah wrote

The Infowars.com petition posted on the White House “We the People: Your Voice in Our Government” page on Friday now has over 15,000 signatures and less than 10,000 signatures to go before Obama administration officialdom responds, according to this page.The petition was posted in response to British citizen Piers Morgan using his bully pulpit at CNN to undermine the civil liberties of the American people. It is calling for his deportation before he helps enemies of the Constitution do irreparable harm to the Second Amendment.Morgan claims his effort to outlaw firearms and thus strip Americans of not only their right to defend themselves but also the ability to respond to government tyranny – the original intention of the amendment – is protected by the First Amendment. Morgan apparently believes it is acceptable to use the First Amendment to deny Americans their right to exercise the Second Amendment.
Morgan’s arrogance knows no bounds. On Saturday he tweeted:

Exit polls show that Egyptians have approved a new constitution in this weekend's nationwide referendum. According to initial reports from Egyptian state media, approximately 63 percent of voters supported the new document.As the second and final phase of voting was taking place on Saturday,
however, Vice President Mahmoud Mekki announced his resignation. Mekki
will be the eighth of President Mohamed Morsi's top advisers to have
left the Cairo political inner circle within the past month.Although official results on the constitution referendum are not
expected until Monday, if the Constitution passes, parliamentary
elections must be held within the next 90 days.
Voter turnout was estimated at only 30 percent, as polling on the document was boycotted by a variety of sectors.Women without veils complained they were not allowed to vote for the new Egyptian anti-secular constitution. Mass protests in the first stage of the voting last Tuesday. Egypt's opposition alleged there were massive polling violations after Islamists backing Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi claimed victory in the first round of a referendum on a new charter. Iran is engaged in a "smart economic war" with Western powers whose
sanctions against its nuclear program are hurting some Iranians,
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday."Targeted sanctions, which the enemies say are supposed to be crippling, have led to a drop in our oil" sales, AFP quoted Ahmadinejad as having said in a live interview on state television, referring to an oil embargo imposed by the European Union."They do not even let us transfer the oil money," he said. purchases of Iranian crude, and has since decreased Tehran's oil exports

The Infowars.com petition posted on the White House “We the People: Your Voice in Our Government” page on Friday now has over 15,000 signatures and less than 10,000 signatures to go before Obama administration officialdom responds, according to this page.The petition was posted in response to British citizen Piers Morgan using his bully pulpit at CNN to undermine the civil liberties of the American people. It is calling for his deportation before he helps enemies of the Constitution do irreparable harm to the Second Amendment.Morgan claims his effort to outlaw firearms and thus strip Americans of not only their right to defend themselves but also the ability to respond to government tyranny – the original intention of the amendment – is protected by the First Amendment. Morgan apparently believes it is acceptable to use the First Amendment to deny Americans their right to exercise the Second Amendment.
Morgan’s arrogance knows no bounds. On Saturday he tweeted:

Using that tortured logic, since only 776,000 people watched his show Thursday, that must mean 314,214,588 Americans think he shouldn’t be on the air at all.In response to Morgan’s claim about the First Amendment, James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal pointed to a transcript of Kleindienst v. Mandel, a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling. It validated an effort by then attorney general Richard Kleindienst to refuse Marxist Belgian journalist Ernest Mandel entry into the country. The Court ruled that denying Mandel entry did not violate the First Amendment.
It remains to be seen if the petition will actually result in Morgan’s deportation. It is, however, drawing attention to his attempt to subvert and undermine the Constitution.

every year. Under federal law, licensed dealers must conduct a
background check before selling to a buyer at a gun show.But in what critics call a "loophole," which some gun
control advocates hope to close, unlicensed collectors and other private
sales do not require a background check.A 2009 undercover investigation at seven gun shows by
the city of New York found that 63 percent of sellers failed an
"integrity" test by selling a weapon to a buyer who admitted he probably
could not pass a background check.Pennsylvania dealer Donley said on Saturday that since

to the State Police unit that provides background checks has increased

He liked tinkering with computers and other gadgets, and seemed to enjoy playing a violent video game, choosing a military-style assault rifle as one of his weapons.New details about Adam Lanza
emerged as Newtown wrapped up a wrenching week of farewells, with
funerals scheduled Saturday for three of the slain children. Lanza
slaughtered 20 children and six adults during the Dec. 14 rampage at
Sandy Hook Elementary School.Lanza also fatally shot his mother before blasting his way into Sandy Hook, and killed himself after the school massacre.In high school, Lanza would walk through the hallways, awkwardly
pressing himself against the wall while wearing the same green shirt and
khaki pants every day. He hardly ever talked to his classmates."As long as I knew him, he never really spoke," said Daniel Frost,
who took a computer class with Lanza and remembered his skill with
electronics. Lanza could take apart and reassemble a computer in a
matter of minutes.Lanza seemed to spend most of his

Cabinet to Deal with Security

New Egyptian Constitution 'Approved'
Exit polls show that Egyptians have approved a new constitution in this weekend's nationwide referendum.

Netanyahu on Sunday said Israel was carefully watching developments in
Syria, and especially the regime’s sizable stockpile of chemical
weapons, which Israeli officials are afraid could be turned against the
Jewish state.“We’re taking steps in order to prepare for
the far-reaching changes that are commencing there,” Netanyahu said at
the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting, alluding to recent
assessments that President Bashar Assad’s days in power were numbered.“There are dramatic developments in Syria on
an almost daily basis,” he said. “We’re working in cooperation with the
United States, and, together with the international community, we’re
taking the necessary steps to prepare ourselves for the possibility of
changes with a bearing on the sensitive weapons systems in Assad’s

Foreign Ministry, on Sunday said that, “for the time being,” Syria’s
chemical weapons were “under control,” despite the fact that Assad’s
been losing ground to the rebels.Last week, NBC reported that Washington was
“huddling” with its allies, including Israel, over how to grapple with
the danger, according to CNN. US intelligence, Israeli intelligence and
other agencies were “working this problem round the clock,” it said,
adding that concern in the region “is growing by the hour.”The Times of London reported that
the US, along with several key allies, is prepared to launch a military
intervention in Syria should the Assad government resort to using its
chemical weapons against the rebels.A military source told the Times that US
forces could be ready “rapidly, within days,” and implied that the
necessary forces were already in the region.Israel is particularly concerned that Syrian
chemical and biological weapons could fall into the hands of terrorists
and be used against Israel.“Together with the international community, we

Russia welcomes any offer to give Assad refuge

BEIRUT (AP) — Russia would welcome any country's offer of safe haven for Syrian President Bashar Assad,
but has no plans to make one of its own, Moscow's foreign minister said
in the latest comments to suggest a growing distance between the two
allies.Sergey Lavrov's remarks on Friday night were among the clearest signs yet that Russia could be preparing for a Syria without Assad, as rebel pressure on the embattled leader intensifies. Over the past four weeks, fighting has reached Damascus, his seat of power, and rebels have captured a string of military bases.Up to now, Russia has vetoed three Western-backed resolutions aimed at pressuring Syria's government
to stop the violence that has killed more than 40,000 people over the
past 21 months. While Russian leaders have given no concrete signs that
stance has changed, their tone has shifted as rebels advance on the
outskirts of the capital.On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin distanced himself
further than ever from the Syrian president, saying Russia does not seek
to protect him and suggesting his regime is growing weaker.Speaking to reporters late Friday, Lavrov reiterated Moscow's position that "it doesn't invite President Assad here," although he said other countries had asked Russia to convey their offer of safe passage to Assad.While he would not name the countries, Lavrov said Russia had responded by telling them to go directly to the Syrian leader."If there is anyone willing to provide him guarantees, they are
welcome!" Lavrov said on board a plane returning from Brussels, where he
attended a Russia-EU summit."We would be the first to cross ourselves and say: "Thank God, the
carnage is over! If it indeed ends the carnage, which is far from
certain."Syria's conflict started in March last year as an uprising against
Assad, whose family has ruled the country for four decades. But the
bloody crackdown that followed led rebels to take up arms, and the
ensuing fighting transformed into a civil war.
The Observatory said a car bomb went off in the Damascus neighborhood of Qaboun, killing at least five people and wounding others. A Syrian official confirmed the blast but had no immediate comment regarding casualties.Elsewhere, the Syrian army said in a statement carried on state-run TV that it had repelled a rebel attack on a military base that killed a regimental commander in the Damascus suburb of Chebaa.
Also in Damascus, the state-run news agency SANA said gunmen assassinated a cameraman for the government's TV station, the latest such killing in recent months.In another development, 11 rebel groups said they have formed a new coalition, the Syrian Islamic Front.A statement issued by the new group, dated Dec. 21 and posted on a militant website Saturday, described it as "a comprehensive Islamic front that adopts Islam as a religion, doctrine, approach and conduct."Several rebel groups have declared their own coalitions in Syria, including one calling itself an "Islamic state" in the embattled northern city of Aleppo.
The statement said the new group will work to avoid differences or disputes with the other Islamic groups.
The regime has come under added condemnation in recent weeks as
Western officials raise concerns Assad might use chemical weapons
against rebels in an act of desperation.Syria refuses to confirm or deny if it has such weapons but is
believed to have nerve agents as well as mustard gas. It also possesses
Scud missiles capable of delivering them.Lavrov said the Syrian government
has pulled its chemical weapons together to one or two locations from
several arsenals across the country to keep them safe amid the rebel
onslaught.
"According to the information we have, as well as the data of the
U.S. and European special services, the government is doing everything
to secure it," he said. "The Syrian government has concentrated the
stockpiles in one or two centers, unlike the past when they were
scattered across the country."Lavrov added that U.N.-Arab League peace envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, would visit Moscow for talks before the year's end.The conflict's sectarian dimension looked set to deepen at the
weekend, as rebels threated to storm two predominantly Christian towns
in a central region if residents do not "evict" government troops they
say are using the towns as a base to attack nearby areas.A video released by rebels showed Rashid Abul-Fidaa, who identified
himself as the commander of the Ansar Brigade for Hama province, calling
on locals in Mahrada and Sqailbiyeh to rise up against Assad's forces
or prepare for an assault."You should perform your duty by evicting Assad's gangs," said
Abdul-Fidaa, who wore an Islamic headband and was surrounded by gunmen.
"Otherwise our warriors will storm the hideouts of the Assad gangs."He also accused regime forces of taking positions in the two towns in
order to "incite sectarian strife" between Christians and the
predominantly Sunni opposition. Assad belongs to the Alawite minority
sect, an off-shoot of Shiite Islam.The threat comes just two days after a U.N. team investigating human
rights abuses in Syria accused anti-Assad militants of hiding among the
civilian population, triggering strikes by government artillery and the
air force.The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the activist
group which reported the rebel ultimatum on Saturday, said such an
attack by rebels could force thousands of Christians from their homes.Christians, who make up about 10 percent of Syria's population, say

22 million people. They are fearful that Syria will become another
Iraq, with Christians caught in the crossfire between rival Islamic

A Syrian official confirmed the blast but had no immediate comment regarding casualties.Elsewhere, the Syrian army said in a statement carried on state-run TV that it had repelled a rebel attack on a military base that killed a regimental commander in the Damascus suburb of Chebaa.
Also in Damascus, the state-run news agency SANA said gunmen assassinated a cameraman for the government's TV station, the latest such killing in recent months.In another development, 11 rebel groups said they have formed a new coalition, the Syrian Islamic Front.A statement issued by the new group, dated Dec. 21 and posted on a militant website Saturday, described it as "a comprehensive Islamic front that adopts Islam as a religion, doctrine, approach and conduct."Several rebel groups have declared their own coalitions in Syria, including one calling itself an "Islamic state" in the embattled northern city of Aleppo.
The statement said the new group will work to avoid differences or disputes with the other Islamic groups.

North Korea could have U.S. within missile range, says South

SEOUL (Reuters) - This month's rocket launch by reclusive North Korea shows it has likely developed the technology, long suspected in the West, to fire a warhead more than 10,000 km (6,200 miles), South Korean officials said on Sunday, putting the U.S. West Coast in range.North Korea said
the December 12 launch put a weather satellite in orbit but critics say
it was aimed at nurturing the kind of technology needed to mount a nuclear warhead on a long-range missile.North Korea is banned from testing missile or nuclear technology under U.N. sanctions imposed after its 2006 and 2009 nuclear weapons tests and the U.N. Security Council condemned the launch.South Korea retrieved and analyzed parts of the first-stage rocket that dropped in the waters off its west coast"As a result of analyzing the material of Unha-3 (North
Korea's rocket), we judged North Korea had secured a range of more than
10,000 km in case the warhead is 500-600 kg," a South Korean Defense
Ministry official told a news briefing.North Korea's previous missile tests ended in failure.North Korea, which denounces the United States as the
mother of all warmongers on an almost daily basis, has spent decades and
scarce resources to try to develop technology capable of striking
targets as far away as the United States and it is also working to build
a nuclear arsenal.
But experts believe the North is still years away from
mastering the technology needed to miniaturize a nuclear bomb to mount
on a missile.South Korean defense officials also said there was no
confirmation whether the North had the re-entry technology needed for a
payload to survive the heat and vibration without disintegrating.Despite international condemnation, the launch this
month was seen as a major boost domestically to the credibility of the
North's young leader, Kim Jong-un, who took over power from his father
who died last year.Apparently encouraged by the euphoria, the fledgling
supreme leader called for the development and launching of "a variety of
more working satellites" and "carrier rockets of bigger capacity" at a
banquet in Pyongyang on Friday which he hosted for those who contributed
