Time Magazine says it would be good for America to drop the dollar and replace it with the SDR, short for special drawing right. Tim Geithner likes the idea, so does China and the IMF. Adopting the SDR as the global reserve currency would correct huge imbalances in global trade and capital flows that are in part the product of the dollar’s special status,Justin Fox writes for Time.By no longer needing to load up on dollars, countries like China would have less incentive to run big trade surpluses with the U.S.It was Federal Reserve bankster mob boss Alan Greenspan who set in motion the housing bubble designed to blow out the global economy.A communiqué released by the G20 at the end of the summit earlier this month stated: We have agreed to support a general SDR allocation which will inject $250bn (£170bn) into the world economy and increase global liquidity.In effect, the G20 leaders have activated the IMF’s power to create money and begin global quantitative easing. In doing so, they are putting a de facto world currency into play. It is outside the control of any sovereign body. Conspiracy theorists will love it,writes Ambrose Evans-Pritchard for the Telegraph.

A graphic accompanying the Time article gets to the bottom of this scheme — it shows the world papered over in SDRs. As the economist Joseph Stiglitz notes, the usage by central banks of paper fiat SDRs as foreign exchange reserve should be viewed as the prelude to the creation of a single world currency. Robert Bradshaw sums it up when he says the use of the fiat, paper SDRs as a new global reserve currency would please the plutocratic international bankers. This move would allow them a golden opportunity to print fiat paper money in huge quantities to flood the world. We can be sure that the fat cats would love to have a new paper world currency in their greedy little hands. Since they already control the IMF and most world central banks, such a new global currency would definitely fit into their plans for world rule. SDRs as foreign exchange reserve should be viewed as the prelude to the creation of a single world currency.International bankers created the current economic crisis and now they are proposing solutions. Globalist bankers have long exploited the problem-reaction-solution paradigm in order to implement their plan for a world totalitarian government. The so-called solutions being proposed by the globalists are not new suggestions, as they have been in the plans of the global elite for a long time. However, in the midst of the current crisis, the elite have fast-tracked their agenda of forging a New World Order in finance,warns Andrew G. Marshall.

Ultimately, what this implies is that the future of the global political economy is one of increasing moves toward a global system of governance, or a world government, with a world central bank and global currency; and that, concurrently, these developments are likely to materialize in the face of and as a result of a decline in democracy around the world, and thus, a rise in authoritarianism. What we are witnessing is the creation of a New World Order, composed of a totalitarian global government structure. The SDR scheme and the very concept of a global currency and global central bank is authoritarian in its very nature, as it removes any vestiges of oversight and accountability away from the people of the world, and toward a small, increasingly interconnected group of international elites,Marshall concludes.

The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.It should come as no surprise Time Magazine has jumped on the SDR world currency and ultimately world feudalism bandwagon. It's moving toward the East and toward the South.Mr. Chavez has made Beijing a frequent stop in his global travels to promote his agenda of anti-American world unity, stopping in the Chinese capital no less than six times since rising to power in 1998 elections.His visit follows a sweep through the Middle East last week, including a stop in Iran where he said that he has little hope of better relations with Washington under President Barack Obama because the United States was still acting like an empire in his eyes.China's communist leaders have been low-key in response to Mr. Chavez's political rhetoric. But Beijing's state-run industries have been eager to use Venezuela as a jumping-off point for their entry into South America. Chinese companies in the mining and petroleum sector have been especially keen on securing South American mineral resources.

Mr. Chavez said he plans to review with Chinese leaders a goal of boosting exports of Venezuelan oil to China from 380,000 barrels last year to 1 million barrels by 2013 – part of Venezuela's strategy of diversifying oil sales away from the United States, which buys about half the South American nation's heavy crude despite political tensions.The strategy includes plans for China and Venezuela to build four oil tankers and three refineries in China capable of processing Venezuela's heavy, sulfur-laden crude.China and Venezuela have also invested in a $12 billion fund to finance joint development projects in areas including oil production, infrastructure and agriculture.

Fiat Currencies May be Replaced by Gold Standard

The top pick? … a new reserve currency, akin to an old-style gold standard….

Moreover, these musings about a gold standard are currently cropping up in all manner of unlikely places. One savvy European property developer (who aggressively sold most of his holdings in early 2007) recently told me that he is now moving a growing proportion of his assets from government bonds into gold, even at today’s elevated prices.The logical conclusion of where we will end up eventually is with some type of gold standard,he explains, arguing that future inflation will almost inevitably cause a future collapse in government bonds.Half a world away in the Middle East, some sovereign wealth funds now say that they are stocking up enthusiastically on food and gold, due to similar reasoning.Meanwhile, in New York a (still) formidable American hedge fund recently circulated private research that echoes the reasoning of Mr Smith. Most notably, this hedge fund points out that since the world abandoned the gold standard on August 15, 1971 credit creation has spiralled completely out of control.But this four-decade long experiment with fiat currency is not just something of a historical aberration, it argues - but potentially very fragile too. After all, the only thing that ever underpins a fiat currency is a belief that governments are credible. In the past 18 months that belief has been tested to its limits. In coming years it could be shattered, particularly if the current wave of extraordinary policy measures unleashes a wild bout of inflation.

Hence that chatter about a gold standard. Indeed, as the debate bubbles up, some financiers are now even e-mailing each other an extraordinary little essay that Alan Greenspan himself wrote in support of a gold standard back in the 1960s, called Gold and Economic Freedom.Under a gold standard, the amount of credit that an economy can support is determined by the economy’s tangible assets . . . [but] in the absence of the gold standard . . . there is no safe store of value, Greenspan wrote back then, pointing out that without a gold standard in place, there is little to prevent governments indulging in wild credit creation. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights.Shell-shocked investors are increasingly reluctant to rule anything out, as they stare at such uncharted waters. So while I would not bet today on a gold standard returning any time soon, I would also not bet that the debate dies away. Nor would I bet that the gold price crashes too far from its current rate of $900, while so much fear continues to stalk the world.Bottom line? RIYADH (AFP) – The Gulf Cooperation Council chief and Saudi and Omani ministers on Sunday discussed how to revive talks on a free trade accord with the European Union that broke down in December, the official SPA news agency reported.Oman's minister for foreign affairs Yussef bin Alawi bin Abdullah met Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz al-Assaf and GCC Secretary General Abdurrahman al-Attiyah, it said.

Their talks focused on the progress of negotiations between the GCC and the European Union and the obstacles impeding the negotiations, SPA said.The six-nation GCC suspended talks over the free-trade agreement in December when the two sides became bogged down over two key issues.The EU objected to allowing GCC countries, notably Saudi Arabia, to maintain selective export duties. Meanwhile the GCC opposed the EU insistence that the agreement contain a clause committing them to the protection of human rights.According to SPA Sunday's Riyadh meeting sought to find ways to overcome these differences.Diplomatic sources told AFP that the energy-rich GCC -- Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates -- has expressed an interest in resuming the trade pact talks.

Gas prices climb 10 cents over past 3 weeks Sun Apr 12, 5:12 pm ET

CAMARILLO, Calif. – The U.S. price of gasoline increased nearly 10 cents a gallon during the past three weeks, but remains well below year-ago prices.That's according to the national Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday.Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the average U.S. price of regular grade gasoline was $2.05 a gallon Friday, when the survey was completed.That's up from $1.95 a gallon recorded on March 20, but down $1.27 from the price at this time last year.The lowest price for gasoline in the U.S. was found in Newark, N.J. at $1.83 a gallon. The highest was in Anchorage at $2.40.The lowest price in California was $2.30 a gallon in Stockton and the highest was $2.33 in San Diego.The average price in Los Angeles was $2.32.

Column One: Surviving in a post-American world

Like it or not, the United States of America is no longer the world's policeman. This was the message of Barack Obama's presidential journey to Britain, France, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Iraq this past week. Somewhere between apologizing for American history - both distant and recent; genuflecting before the unelected, bigoted king of Saudi Arabia; announcing that he will slash the US's nuclear arsenal, scrap much of America's missile defense programs and emasculate the US Navy; leaving Japan to face North Korea and China alone; telling the Czechs, Poles and their fellow former Soviet colonies, Don't worry, be happy, as he leaves them to Moscow's tender mercies; humiliating Iraq's leaders while kowtowing to Iran; preparing for an open confrontation with Israel; and thanking Islam for its great contribution to American history, President Obama made clear to the world's aggressors that America will not be confronting them for the foreseeable future. Whether they are aggressors like Russia, proliferators like North Korea, terror exporters like nuclear-armed Pakistan or would-be genocidal-terror-supporting nuclear states like Iran, today, under the new administration, none of them has any reason to fear Washington. This news is music to the ears of the American Left and their friends in Europe. Obama's supporters like billionaire George Soros couldn't be more excited at the self-induced demise of the American superpower. CNN's former (anti-)Israel bureau chief Walter Rodgers wrote ecstatically in the Christian Science Monitor on Wednesday, America's... superpower status, is being downgraded as rapidly as its economy.

The pro-Obama US and European media are so pleased with America's abdication of power that they took the rare step of applauding Obama at his press conference in London. Indeed, the media's enthusiasm for Obama appeared to grow with each presidential statement of contrition for America's past uses of force, each savage attack he leveled against his predecessor George W. Bush, each swipe he took at Israel, and each statement of gratitude for the blessings of Islam he uttered. But while the media couldn't get enough of the new US leader, America's most stable allies worldwide began a desperate search for a reset button that would cause the administration to take back its abandonment of America's role as the protector of the free world. Tokyo was distraught by the administration's reaction to North Korea's three-stage ballistic missile test. Japan recognized the betrayal inherent in Defense Secretary Robert Gates's announcement ahead Pyongyang's newest provocation that the US would only shoot the missile down if it targeted US territory. In one sentence, uttered not in secret consultations, but declared to the world on CNN, Gates abrogated America's strategic commitment to Japan's defense. India, for its part, is concerned by Obama's repeated assertions that its refusal to transfer control over the disputed Jammu and Kashmir provinces to Pakistan inspires Pakistani terror against India. It is equally distressed at the Obama administration's refusal to make ending Pakistan's support for jihadist terror groups attacking India a central component of its strategy for contending with Pakistan and Afghanistan. In general, Indian officials have expressed deep concern over the Obama administration's apparent lack of regard for India as an ally and a significant strategic counterweight to China.

Then there is Iraq. During his brief visit to Baghdad on Tuesday afternoon, Obama didn't even pretend that he would ensure that Iraqi democracy and freedom is secured before US forces are withdrawn next year. The most supportive statement he could muster came during his conversation with Turkish students in Istanbul earlier in the day. There he said, I have a responsibility to make sure that as we bring troops out, that we do so in a careful enough way that we don't see a complete collapse into violence.Hearing Obama's statements, and watching him and his advisers make daily declarations of friendship to Iran's mullahs, Iraqi leaders are considering their options for surviving the rapidly approaching storm. Then there is Europe. Although Obama received enthusiastic applause from his audience in Prague when he announced his intention to destroy the US's nuclear arsenal, drastically scale back its missile defense programs and forge a new alliance with Russia, his words were anything but music to the ears of the leaders of former Soviet satellites threatened by Russia. The Czech, Polish, Georgian and Ukrainian governments were quick to recognize that Obama's strong desire to curry favor with the Kremlin and weaken his own country will imperil their ability to withstand Russian aggression. It is not a coincidence, for instance, that the day Obama returned to Washington, Georgia's Moscow-sponsored opposition announced its plan to launch massive protests in Tblisi to force the ouster of pro-Western, anti-Russian Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. And as for Russia, like Iran, which responded to Obama's latest ode to the mullahs by opening a nuclear fuel plant and announcing it has 7,000 advanced centrifuges in operation, so Moscow reacted to Obama's fig leaf with a machine gun, announcing its refusal to support sanctions against North Korea and repeating its false claim that Iran's nuclear program is nonaggressive.

Finally there is Israel. If Obama's assertions that Israel must support the immediate establishment of a Palestinian state, his declarations of support for the so-called Saudi peace plan, which requires Israel to commit national suicide in exchange for peace with the Arab world, and his continuous and increasingly frantic appeals for Iran to engage his administration weren't enough to show Israel that Obama is sacrificing the US's alliance with the Jewish state in a bid to appease the Arabs and Iran, on Tuesday Vice President Joseph Biden made this policy explicit. When Biden told CNN that Israel would be ill-advised to attack Iran's nuclear installations, he made clear that from the administration's perspective, an Israeli strike that prevents Iran from becoming a nuclear power is less acceptable than a nuclear-armed Iran. That is, the Obama administration prefers to see Iran become a nuclear power than to see Israel secure its very existence. AMERICA'S BETRAYAL of its democratic allies makes each of them more vulnerable to aggression at the hands of their enemies - enemies the Obama administration is now actively attempting to appease. And as the US strengthens their adversaries at their expense, these spurned democracies must consider their options for surviving as free societies in this new, threatening, post-American environment. For the most part, America's scorned allies lack the ability to defeat their enemies on their own. India cannot easily defeat nuclear-armed Pakistan, which itself is fragmenting into disparate anti-Indian nuclear-wielding Islamist and Islamist-supporting factions. Japan today cannot face North Korea - which acts as a Chinese proxy - on its own without risking a confrontation with China. Russia's invasion of Georgia last August showed clearly that its former republics and satellites have no way of escaping Moscow's grip alone. This week's Arab League conference at Doha demonstrated to Iraq's leaders that their Arab brethren are incapable and unwilling to confront Iran.

And the Obama administration's intense efforts to woo Iran coupled with its plan to slash the US's missile defense programs - including those in which Israel participates - and reportedly pressure Israel to dismantle its own purported nuclear arsenal - make clear that Israel today stands alone against Iran. THE RISKS that the newly inaugurated post-American world pose for America's threatened friends are clear. But viable opportunities for survival do exist, and Israel can and must play a central role in developing them. Specifically, Israel must move swiftly to develop active strategic alliances with Japan, Iraq, Poland, and the Czech Republic and it must expand its alliance with India. With Israel's technological capabilities, its intelligence and military expertise, it can play a vital role in shoring up these countries' capacities to contain the rogue states that threaten them. And by containing the likes of Russia, North Korea and Pakistan, they will make it easier for Israel to contain Iran even in the face of US support for the mullahs. The possibilities for strategic cooperation between and among all of these states and Israel run the gamut from intelligence sharing to military training, to missile defense, naval development, satellite collaboration, to nuclear cooperation. In addition, of course, expanded economic ties between and among these states can aid each of them in the struggle to stay afloat during the current global economic crisis.Although far from risk free, these opportunities are realistic because they are founded on stable, shared interests. This is the case despite the fact that none of these potential alliances will likely amount to increased support for Israel in international forums. Dependent as they are on Arab oil, these potential allies cannot be expected to vote with Israel in the UN General Assembly. But this should not concern Jerusalem.

The only thing that should concern Jerusalem today is how to weaken Iran both directly by attacking its nuclear installations, and indirectly by weakening its international partners in Moscow, Pyongyang, Islamabad and beyond in the absence of US support. If Japan is able to contain North Korea and so limit Pyongyang's freedom to proliferate its nuclear weapons and missiles to Iran and Syria and beyond, Israel is better off. So, too, Israel is better off if Russia is contained by democratic governments in Eastern and Central Europe. These nations in turn are better off if Iran is contained and prevented from threatening them both directly and indirectly through its strategic partners in North Korea, Syria and Russia, and its terror affiliates in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. For the past 16 years, successive Israeli governments have wrongly believed that politics trump strategic interests. The notion that informed Israel's decision-makers - not unlike the notion that now informs the Obama administration - was that Israel's strategic interests would be secured as a consequence of its efforts to appease its enemies by weakening itself. Appreciative of Israel's sacrifices for peace, the nations of the world - and particularly the US, the Arabs and Europe - would come to Israel's defense in its hour of need. Now that the hour of need has arrived, Israel's political strategy for securing itself has been exposed as a complete fiasco. The good news is that no doubt sooner rather than later, Obama's similarly disastrous bid to denude the US of its military power under the naive assumption that it will be able to use its new stature as a morally pure strategic weakling to win its enemies over to its side will fail spectacularly and America's foreign policy will revert to strategic rationality.

But to survive the current period of American strategic madness, Israel and the US's other unwanted allies must build alliances with one another - covertly if need be - to contain their adversaries in the absence of America. If they do so successfully, then the damage to global security induced by Obama's emasculation of his country will be limited. If on the other hand, they fail, then America's eventual return to its senses will likely come too late for its allies - if not for America itself.

China foreign exchange reserves at $1.954 trillion Fri Apr 10, 11:04 pm ET

BEIJING – China's central bank says its foreign exchange reserves rose 16 percent year-on-year to $1.954 trillion by the end of March.In a notice on its Web site Saturday the bank said reserves increased by $7.7 billion in the first quarter, $146.2billion lower than the same period last year.Analysts believe China holds up to 70 percent of its foreign reserves in U.S. dollar-denominated assets, including Treasury securities.In March, the reserves increased by $41.7 billion, an increase $6.7 billion more than the same period last year.

Russia test fires intercontinental missile

Russia has successfully test-launched a PC-12M Topol intercontinental ballistic missile, Russian news agencies have reported. According to the agencies, the missile was jointly launched by the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Space Forces from the Plesetsk cosmodrome on Friday. The dummy warhead has hit a designated target at the Kura testing grounds on the Kamchatka peninsula with the desired precision,the RIA Novosti quoted Alexander Vovk, aide to the commander of the Strategic Rocket Forces as saying. The spokesman further pointed out that the launch has allowed the extension of Topol's service life to 22 years. The launch has been conducted under a program to extend the operating life of Topol missile systems. Its purpose is to confirm the stability of the main flight and technical characteristics of the missile systems during the extension of their operating life,Interfax cited him as saying.

The missile was produced in 1987 but remained on combat duty until August 2007. The Topol missile system is the foundation of the Strategic Rocket Forces group and is featured by high maneuverability and quick readiness to launch.

Two recent articles in the Gulf press discussed the attitudes of European Muslims towards the West. On December 2, 2008, Bahraini liberal Shi'ite cleric Dhiya Al-Mousawi published an article in the liberal Kuwaiti daily Awan on the Mumbai terrorist attacks, some of the perpetrators of which were Muslims who were naturalized British citizens. The second article, by liberal Kuwaiti columnist Khalil Ali Haidar, was published October 5, 2008 in the UAE daily Al-Ittihad. Both writers criticized Muslim groups in Europe for harming the West while at the same time enjoying Western freedoms and services. Haidar treated the subject more broadly, criticizing all Islamic movements and parties in Europe on the grounds that they are promoting Islamic extremism, that they have taken control of the lives of the European Muslims, and that, instead of attempting to bridge the gap between the East and the West, they have consciously brought about isolation, alienation, and, ultimately, jihad-motivated terrorism against the West.Following are excerpts from Al-Mousawi's and Haidar's articles:European Muslims Are Spitting Into the Well from Which They Drink

In an article titled When the Terrorist is British Born, Al-Mousawi wrote: It is sad that in Western countries there are thousands of Muslims who receive citizenship for themselves and their families after having been expelled from their respective homelands. [The West] gives them asylum, work, shelter, and health insurance – [yet] they are the first to turn their backs on their second homeland. Worse, some of them think nothing of committing suicide in the squares, in the very countries that have granted them and their families protection… It is odd that some sheikhs curse and revile the West from the pulpits of the Western [mosques,] and wish for the destruction of the [Western] countries, as the police of those countries guard them…(1)

The Islamists Have Taken Control Over the Lives of the Muslims in the West

Al-Haidar wrote, in a similar vein: The problem of Europe and the U.S. is neither the Arabs nor the Muslims. It is the Islamists, both parties and groups, who have taken over the political, religious, social, and cultural life inside and outside Islamic and Arab countries. [These parties and groups] have influence over the Muslim minorities of the Western countries… They have focused on imposing restrictions on the first generation [of immigrants], on brainwashing the second generation, and on excommunicating unions, organizations, and mosques. For many years – in fact, since the end of the Second World War – Western countries have been welcoming Arabs and Muslims, and providing [them] with extensive opportunities for preaching and [other] activities. They have treated them with amazing kindness. With time, the Muslims grew in power, and tightened their grip on the very heart of these societies. The presence of Islamists [in the European countries], with all their different parties, groups, and schools of thought, has been a testing ground for relations between their Muslim minority, which has been influenced by the indoctrination [carried out by different] parties, and these democratic societies. For many years, Islamists, and especially the Muslim Brotherhood, have complained about the oppressive [policies] of Arab regimes, the freezing of freedoms, surveillance, etc. [Abu A'la] Al-Mawdoudi's(2) writings, [originally in Urdu], have gained popularity in the Arab world, corrupting the youth and distorting their outlook. [Al-Mawdoudi] proclaimed to the entire world, and especially to [his] liberal European opponents, the advent of a new social order superior to Western democracy on every count – in liberty, flexibility, religious tolerance etc. – that will be introduced under the leadership of Muslim youth uncontaminated by the filth of Western civilization and its materialist [values].

The Islamists Have Wrought Alienation and Terrorism

The ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Al-Tahrir party,(3) and Egyptian, Pakistani, and other Islamic groups has cast the Arabs and the Muslims in Europe into darkness and confusion. With their books, films, and extreme separatist ideas, they have paved the way for the proliferation of different forms of extremism, and hence to overt terrorism.The unceasing attacks on Western civilization, on man-made laws, and on Oriental studies, as well as on [what they regarded as] the cultural invasion and Western conspiracies – have made it difficult for [Muslims] to integrate into the new environment to which they migrated while hating it. [However, his integration] as far as his material interests or the aims of his party were concerned [was never impeded]

The Absence of a Culture of Revival and Innovation

The Islamic party movement has not embraced the idea of revival and innovation; as a consequence, it has failed to see a positive side to Western society or to study Western literature, art, and culture so that it could create a model of modern culture, literature and art that combines Western and Islamic [elements]. Even the Muslim Brotherhood leaders, along with others who are proud of the Islamic civilization and profess to be heirs to the Baghdad and Andalusian civilizations – [even they], during the half century [of their sojourn] in Paris, London, or Germany, have not produced a [single] new idea, [let alone new] art or culture worthy of notice...True, they have established publishing houses to circulate their parties' books and publications; they never let up in improving their media weaponry, such as the press, television, and other [media outlets]; they developed their own financial institutions and banks [and called them] Islamic: no interest; they established private schools, which only further isolated Muslim boys and girls from their European environment and thus enhanced the Islamic parties' control of their [lives] – and this is only a partial list. But what they have failed to do is to act as a bridge between East and West, as have, say, the poets of the [Muslim] diaspora. They also never helped plant seeds of modernization, democracy, and creativity – cultural, artistic, and literary – in the Arab and the Islamic worlds. Most reports on [Muslims in Europe], produced with great enthusiasm by the media, are about fights between [different] mosques, family honor murders, or extremist religious discourse. Not a single one of their associations has ever sponsored a useful cultural program, nor has any of their parties ever translated an encyclopedia or organized a study group to explore an aspect of culture, education, or ties between East and West. Neither have any of these circles invested effort [in a project] – not even to reexamine the writings of Islamic parties and modernize them by removing extremist ideas and the ideology of heresy accusations.

Abusing Tolerance

Western tolerance towards Muslims in Europe and in the U.S. on freedom of religion in general, and its respect for Christian and Jewish converts to Islam in particular, has not been used as a model by any Islamic party. It didn't teach them religious tolerance; it didn't lead them to acknowledge that religious choice is a personal matter; it didn't prompt them to protect non-Muslims in the Arab and Muslim world. On the contrary, they became increasingly offensive, since they perceived that the West was conceding to their demands and treating them with tolerance. Thus, they gained ground and popularity, and their arrogance was became boundless.The Islamist literature, publications, and sermons, even in the heart of Europe, have essentially retained the conceptual structure of ancient [Muslim] writings, in that they continue to treat any input from civilization as refuse, all the amazing technological innovations as purely material development, and the life and values of the West as decadence and degradation.

The Connection to Violence and Terrorism

It has often been said that moderate Islamic groups have nothing to do with violence and terrorism. But this is an illusion. All the ideas of terrorist groups fit the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, of the Al-Tahrir [party], of Al-Jama'a Al-Islamiyya in Pakistan, and others. Ideas like idol worship, the rule of God, the establishment of shari'a, and others, which have assumed new fundamentalist connotations associated with new ruling parties, were not invented by Al-Qaeda or Fath Al-Islam. The notions of cognitive isolation, the invalidity of man-made laws, and serving God; the undermining of the values of homeland and citizenship, as well as all facets of political realism; proclamations such as the Muslim Brotherhood's motto Death for the sake of Allah is our highest aspiration,and numerous other [slogans] – all these have not been invented by Al-Zarqawi, bin Laden, or [Sheikh Abu Muhammad] Al-Maqdisi(I CALL ISLAM A SEX FOR MURDER CULT MYSELF - STAN).(KILL AN INFIDEL GET 72 VIRGINS IN 72 BEDS FOREVER.THATS MURDER FOR FOREVER LUST,THATS A SEX FOR MURDER CULT PLAIN AND SIMPLE NOT A PEACEFUL SO CALLED RELIGION).

What can we expect of a youth who encounters [the following] idea, [which appears] in a book frequently discussed by the Muslim Brotherhood: Today we live in a jahiliya [the pre-Islamic era of idol worship], akin to idol worship in [Muhammad's] time and worse. We are surrounded by idol worship. Human achievement and beliefs, people's traditions and customs, their traditional sources, their arts and literature, their laws and regulations, and even most of what we regard as aspects of the Islamic culture, Islamic authorities, and Islamic thought and philosophy – all these are products of idol worship.This is a simple passage from the book Milestones by Sayyed Qutb. This book has been translated into all the languages of the Islamic countries: Turkish, Persian, Urdu, Malaysian, Indonesian, and others, as have hundreds of other Muslim Brotherhood books. These books are brainwashing thousands of youths in the Muslim world, and drawing [many of them] towards extremist terrorist organizations. Is not this passage, which has been read [and reread] by Islamists for over 40 years, the main reason for the Muslim's deepening sense of alienation from both his own society and from the society in Europe, America, or Australia to which he emigrated?…

There is no doubt that it is these ideas, texts and doctrines – some of which seem innocuously moderate [to us, after] they have poisoned our souls – that have shaped the views of many Muslims, men and women, worldwide, and have brought forth a generation of jihadi terrorists. It is this [phenomenon] that has precipitated the clash between the Islamists and Western societies in America and Europe.(4)

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran now controls the entire cycle for producing nuclear fuel, the Iranian president said Saturday, highlighting his country's growing capabilities at a time when the U.S. wants to negotiate with Iran over its nuclear program.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's comments came two days after the inauguration of a facility which produces uranium oxide fuel pellets for a planned heavy-water reactor — the final step in the long, sophisticated nuclear fuel cycle.Today, with the grace of God, Iran is a country controlling the entire nuclear fuel cycle, Ahmadinejad said on state television Saturday.The step is significant toward furthering Iran's nuclear energy capabilities and, an analyst said, could be designed to strengthen Iran's position at a time when the Obama administration says it would negotiate with the Iran over it nuclear program.However, it is less worrying for the West in terms of its potential to be used in nuclear weapons than Iran's advanced enriched uranium program.Spent fuel from heavy-water reactors can eventually be reprocessed to produce plutonium for a warhead, but that would still take many years whereas Iran is already believed to have enough enriched uranium that could be used to build a nuclear weapon should Iran decide to do so.

The U.S. and its allies have expressed concern over Iran's developing nuclear program for fear it masks a weapons program. Tehran says its nuclear program is only designed to create peaceful energy.Ahmadinejad has announced several times in the past that Iran has the knowledge necessary to produce its own fuel, but with the opening of the new facility near the central city of Isfahan, the Islamic republic says it now has the capability on a large scale.Ahmadinejad's comments come after U.S. administration officials said earlier this week that U.S. diplomats would attend group talks with Iran over its suspect nuclear program. That would be a major departure from President George W. Bush's policy of isolation from a nation he once deemed to be evil.

Ahmadinejad said Thursday during the inauguration ceremony that his country is open to talks with the U.S. and other countries over its nuclear program. But he insisted the talks must be based on respect for Iran's rights, suggesting the West should not try to force Tehran to stop uranium enrichment.Ahmadinejad said Iran would present a new proposal for negotiations, saying conditions have changed — an apparent reference to Obama's election and Iran's own progress in its nuclear program since talks held with Iran last year. He did not elaborate on the proposal.Prominent Iranian political analyst Saeed Leilaz said the announcement about controlling the fuel cycle helps strengthen Iran's bargaining position in future talks with the world powers by creating a new reality on the ground.By inaugurating the Isfahan facility, Iran will have the upper hand in future talks. It is not only a technical achievement but also a far more political gain. It is a winning card in Iran's hands,he said.Heavy-water reactors do not need enriched uranium for fuel and instead use the more easily produced uranium oxide pellets.Iran has also been making strides in its efforts to enrich uranium. You can help prevent and detect terrorism — and other types of crime — by watching out for suspicious activities and reporting them to the proper authorities. Many of these activities, in and of themselves, may not indicate criminal activity. Taken together, however, they may be a cause for concern. If you observe people acting suspiciously, don’t hesitate to contact local law enforcement.Note our emphasis. It’s not so much about scary guys in turbans half way around the world in caves or hiding out in remote villages mired in the 16th Century. It’s about criminals engaged in suspicious behavior. According to the Ministry of Homeland Security and PrepareMetro KC, crime is a form of terrorism. Federal money is now routinely used to fight crime under the aegis of fighting non-existent terrorism. Last year, for example, the feds teamed up with 50 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies engaged in an anti-terrorism initiative called Operation Sudden Impact. Even though Memphis hasn’t suffered a terrorist attack, the city is using federal grants to fight crime, which might lead to the discovery of a terrorist suspect. Other cities are using federal money with similar programs,the Commercial Appeal reported last April. Information gathered in the sweep will be reviewed by intelligence officers at the local Homeland Security center. The information will be forwarded to the state’s Homeland Security center in Nashville.

Basically the video tells people to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior and not to hesitate to report this to the police. The video shows a white male engaged in surveillance of government buildings or military facilities, attempting to get information on critical infrastructure from citizens, testing security, acquiring supplies(law enforcement equipment and identification, military uniforms and decals), and suspicious behavior such as unusual demeanor or being in areas where they don’t belong,etc.Chances of a white al-Qaeda terrorist probing and engaging in suspicious behavior leading to an attack is slim to none, but then the point is not to catch a real terrorist who hates us because of our freedom. It’s about spreading around paranoia with government money. It’s also about another large government bureaucracy justifying its existence for the next fiscal year. As the Los Angeles Times noted last May, the number of Americans being secretly wiretapped or having their financial and other records reviewed by the government has continued to increase as officials aggressively use powers approved after the Sept. 11 attacks. But the number of terrorism prosecutions ending up in court — one measure of the effectiveness of such sleuthing — has continued to decline, in some cases precipitously.

In other words, there are precious few if any terrorists in the country.

Of course, this does not stop the government from inventing fantastic terror scenarios that never play out, mostly to keep you on the edge of your seat so you will consent to the incremental dismantling of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.The universe of crime and terrorism stretches out infinitely before us, and we too are working to find what we believe to be out there but cannot always see, declared FBI Director Robert S Mueller in February. In order to drive home the point, Mueller rolled out the scary prospect of a Mumbai styled terror attack by home-grown terrorists and others. In the meantime, the FBI spends its time monitoring the real threat to the establishment — the antiwar movement. The FBI has collected extensive information on the tactics, training and organization of antiwar demonstrators and has advised local law enforcement officials to report any suspicious activity at protests to its counterterrorism squads, according to interviews and a confidential bureau memorandum,the New York Times reported in November, 2003. Likewise the DHS. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security tracked the protest plans of a peaceful Washington area antiwar group and passed the information to the Maryland State Police, which had previously labeled the activists as terrorists in an intelligence file,the Washington Post reported in February. In 2006, the ACLU released documents revealing an effort by the DHS and the Pentagon to spy on antiwar groups in California. Russ Knocke, then DHS spokesman, categorized this violation of civil liberties as an important public safety mission and said the agency will maintain situational awareness of large public gatherings and share that with state and local partners.It is no mistake the KC video portrays a white male and not an Arab toting and AK47 and wearing a keffiyeh. The purpose of the video is to prompt locals to spy on their neighbors, foster a snoop climate, and in general heighten the level of paranoia required as the government implements its police state control grid.

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia – About 300 protesters rallied Saturday in Russia's main far eastern port to protest the Kremlin's plan to radically streamline the nation's military.It was one of the first public demonstrations against the reform plan, which was announced last autumn and is now being implemented. The most sweeping overhaul of Russia's armed forces in more than a generation envisages the dismissal of six out of every 10 officers, disbanding nine out of every 10 army units, and abolishing a bulky Soviet-era structure focused on divisions and regiments in favor of smaller brigades.

While most observers agree that efforts to streamline the military's bloated and inefficient structure have been long overdue, critics say the reform looks hasty and ill-considered.The rally in Vladivostok was organized by the regional Union of Officers, which mostly consists of military retirees. Its participants harshly criticized the planned military reform, which envisages a massive dismissal of military officers and a sweeping reduction of the number of military units.Some held placards calling for the ouster of Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov. The rally was being held in Vladivostok, the main base of Russia's Pacific Fleet.The head of Vladivostok's Union of Officers, retired Capt. Dmitry Tyulenev, told the rally that the reform amounted to the deliberate destruction of the military.The Kremlin has pledged that the officers to be discharged will be given state apartments and all due social benefits, but many are distrustful of the authorities, who have been reluctant to fulfill their obligations in the past. Many officers also fear that it would be hard for them to find civilian jobs at a time when Russia is struggling with its worst financial crisis in a decade and unemployment is growing.The Defense Ministry had kept details of the plan private and even issued a directive last fall banning officers from talking about the reform, but the lack of openness deepened officers' concerns and fueled protests.Earlier this year, officers of a military intelligence brigade in the Siberian city of Berdsk and their relatives protested plans to disband the unit, which is one of the military's most combat worthy. CAIRO – Hezbollah agents operating in Egypt were plotting to attack Israeli tourists at resorts in the Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian and Israeli officials said Sunday.Egypt announced recently that a cell of 49 men with links to Hezbollah were planning attacks aimed at destabilizing the country. Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, rejected the accusations but confirmed over the weekend that it had dispatched a member to Egypt — a rare acknowledgment that the Lebanese militant group was operating in another Arab country.Egypt's allegations were fresh evidence of the growing strains between the region's staunch U.S. allies — namely Egypt and Saudi Arabia — and increasingly powerful Iranian- and Syrian-backed militant groups like Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas.On Sunday, Egyptian Cabinet minister Mufed Shehab said authorities seized explosive belts and other bomb-making materials from the agents and accused them of planning to buy a boat to bring weapons and ammunition from Yemen, Sudan and Somalia and smuggle them into the country.The alleged agents also were observing and locating the tourists groups who repeatedly come to south Sinai resorts and residences paving the way to target them in hostile activities, Shehab told Egyptian parliament members in a reference to Israeli tourists who frequently travel to the Sinai for beach resort vacations.

Israel warned its citizens last week not to visit the Sinai desert because of new intelligence reports of militant plots to attack and kidnap Israelis there. An Israeli official told The Associated Press that the operatives specifically planned to target Israeli tourists in the Sinai. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the press.Israeli Cabinet Minister Yisrael Katz also told Army Radio on Sunday that Nasrallah had ordered his men to hit Israeli targets.He (Nasrallah) acknowledges that his men were involved in smuggling Iranian weapons into Gaza in order to hit Israel,Katz said.In a televised speech on Friday, Nasrallah, confirmed that Sami Shehab, one of the 49 and a senior Hezbollah member, was sent to Egypt to help militant Palestinian allies in the months before Israel's three-week offensive in the neighboring Gaza Strip. Nasrallah said Shehab was arrested in November on charges of smuggling arms and equipment to Gaza via the strip's Egyptian border — but he denied that Hezbollah was planning attacks in Egypt.

Tensions between Egypt and Hezbollah escalated earlier this year after Israel launched the offensive in Gaza, which killed 1,300 Palestinians in the coastal territory. Israel said the attack was aimed at stopping Palestinian militants from launching rockets from Gaza into Israel.Many Arabs criticized Egypt — one of only two Arab countries with a peace deal with Israel — for not doing enough to stop the fighting and open its border with the Gaza Strip. Nasrallah had accused Egypt of taking part in the crime against Palestinians.Egypt, a mostly Sunni Arab country, has long been at odds with the Shiite Hezbollah and its main backer, Iran. Egypt's government had criticized Hezbollah for provoking its monthlong war with Israel in summer 2006.But Hezbollah, along with its Palestinian ally, Hamas, have support among many regular Egyptians who praise the groups for not recognizing Israel and launching attacks against the Jewish state.In Tehran, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani rejected accusations against Hezbollah, state television reported.
