Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has reportedly backed away from making a joint statement with the Polish government that would endorse a Palestinian Authority state.According to the report broadcast Wednesday on Army Radio and Channel 10, Netanyahu disavowed the statement, released earlier in the day by the Prime Minister’s Office. An aide explained to Army Radio the prime minister had not gone over the text, and added, "It was written by junior-level officers in the National Security Council."The official communique was to express strong support for the "two state solution" and was to be announced during Netanyahu’s trip to Poland together with five ministers, where he is meeting with Polish leaders. The prime minister is to inaugurate a memorial site at Block 27 in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum during his visit. The statement read in part: "There is an urgent need to promote the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The two governments agree on the urgent need to promote the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct negotiations, without preconditions."The prime minister reportedly took issue with a part of the communique that referred to unilateral steps by both sides serving as obstacles to a peace agreement."Unilateral steps by either party are counterproductive to achieving a sustainable lasting peace," reads the statement. "We welcome the U.S. government’s efforts in this regard, particularly those of the U.S. Secretary of State [John Kerry]."Both Netanyahu and his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, were to sign the document but no specific time was ever set for that action. Nevertheless, the Israeli prime minister’s perceived aboutface has raised the spectre of a diplomatic faux pas in international circles. Moreover, it has also opened the door to criticism from opposition within Israel’s government. Meretz party chairwoman Zehava Gal-On immediately issued a statement attacking the prime minister, saying, "Netanyahu’s disavowal of the content of the joint statement with the Polish prime minister only serves to expose the true face of the prime minister who continues to mislead the public and prove once again that he has no intention of making peace."

GENESIS 16:11-12
11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael;(FATHER OF THE ARAB/MUSLIMS) because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man,(ISLAM HATES EVERYONE) and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.(LITERAL-THE ARABS LIVE WITH THEIR BRETHERN JEWS)

EZEKIEL 12:25
25  For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass;(LITERALLY) it shall be no more prolonged: will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.(JESUS MAKES PROPHECIES COME TO PASS)

EZEKIEL 28:25-26
25  Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered,(WORLD NATIONS) and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.(ISRAEL)
26  And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them;(ARAB/MUSLUM NATIONS AROUND ISRAEL) and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8,11-18
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back,(RUSSIA-ARAB MUSLIM ISRAEL HATERS) and leave but the sixth part of thee,(5/6TH OR 300 MILLION DEAD RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS I BELIEVE) and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)
18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 And ye (MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL) shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.(RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ISRAEL HATERS)
20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21 And I (GOD-JESUS) will set my glory among the heathen,(WORLD NATIONS) and all the heathen (WORLD NATIONS) shall see my judgment that I have executed,(AGAINST ISRAELS ENEMIES) and my (GODS) hand that I have laid upon them.(ISRAELS HATER ENEMIES)

4  I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
5  Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred,(AGAINST ISRAEL) and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6  Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
11  Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
12  And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13  Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14  Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.(ARAB,MUSLIMS)
15  As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir,(ARABS) and all Idumea,(ARAB,MUSLIMS) even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Russian protesters march as Putin seeks firmer political footing

By Gabriela Baczynska and Alexei Anishchuk
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Thousands of Russians marched through Moscow demanding Vladimir Putin resign on Wednesday, as the president took the helm of a loyalist movement designed to broaden his power base.
With helmeted riot police looking on, some 10,000 protesters chanted "Russia without Putin!" and called for the release of activists who face long jail terms over violence at a protest against his inauguration to a third presidential term last year.Critics accuse Putin, in power since 2000, of clamping down on dissent after he weathered the biggest protests of his rule and returned to the Kremlin following a stint as prime minister.
"We have no democracy here, we have what Putin calls sovereign democracy. That means there is democracy for them, not for us," said protester Andrei Rusakov, 53.Protesters chanted "Putin is a thief" and held pictures of 12 activists who are being tried over clashes with police at a rally the day before he was sworn in.A bridge leading across the Moscow river toward the Kremlin was blocked by police lines, bulldozers and water trucks. Police said they detained nine members of a suspended opposition group.
Shortly after the march, Putin, 60, was chosen to lead the Popular Front at a highly choreographed congress of the group he created in 2011 as a source of support to supplement the ruling United Russia, which many Russians mistrust. In a spectacle that mixed elements of Soviet Communist Party meetings and Western-style political conventions, members chanted Putin's name after a speech full of patriotic rhetoric."We are united by values that are higher than political passions," Putin told the gathering, which included cultural and religious figures, stylish young women and medal-bedecked World War Two veterans.Putin spoke of freedom, human rights and the rule of law in his address but protesters said he has trampled on those values since starting his six-year third term.Putin has signed laws restricting demonstrations and labeling U.S.-funded civic groups "foreign agents". Protest leaders are under investigation or on trial in what they say are trumped up charges.
POPULAR FRONT
Marchers, hoping to revive flagging protests, focused on the plight of 12 lesser-known activists who face up to eight years in jail over clashes with police in what critics call a Stalin-style show trial meant to scare away ordinary Russians."This is a political trial ... it is all clearly falsified," said Natalya Kavkazskaya, whose son Dmitry, 26, is among the defendants and has been in pre-trial detention since last July."Mother Russia is in tears, crying like all mothers over their children in this country," she said at the protest, which took place on a holiday called Russia Day.More than half of Russians polled by the independent Levada Centre last month said the case was meant to intimidate Putin's foes. Some posters targeted Putin's announcement last week that he and his wife Lyudmila were divorcing: "He wants someone else - and so do we."Putin remains Russia's most popular politician by far, but his job approval rating fell to a 12-year low of 62 percent in January, according to Levada Centre."We want the authorities to stop fabricating criminal cases against opposition leaders and activists," Dmitry Gudkov, an opposition lawmaker and protest leader."Those in power are not changing but society is, and if the authorities do not catch up with that the same thing will happen to them as with leaders in some Arab countries," he said. While the protests have waned, they exposed fatigue with Putin an dissatisfaction with the dominance of United Russia, his main source of support and instrument of power.Opposition leaders have dubbed it the "party of swindlers and thieves" and its majority in parliament was cut sharply in the December 2011 election that set off the wave of protests.

Turkish police fight protesters, clear square

By Nick Tattersall and Ayla Jean Yackley
ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkish riot police fought running battles with pockets of protesters overnight, clearing the central Istanbul square that has been the focus of nearly two weeks of protests against Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.By dawn, Taksim Square, strewn with wreckage from bulldozed barricades, was largely deserted and taxis crossed it for the first time since the troubles started. Several hundred remained in an encampment of tents in Gezi Park abutting the square.Erdogan, who has repeatedly dismissed the demonstrators as "riff-raff", was expected to meet a grouping of public figures about the protests on Wednesday. In the fighting talk that first endeared him to voters 10 years ago, he said on Tuesday he would not kneel before the protesters and that "this Tayyip Erdogan won't change".The United States, which has held up Erdogan's Turkey in the past as an example of Muslim democracy that could benefit other countries in the Middle East, expressed concern about events in Turkey and urged dialogue between government and protesters.German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on Wednesday the Turkish government was sending the wrong signal at home and abroad with its reaction to protests, describing pictures from Taksim square as disturbing."We expect Prime Minister Erdogan to de-escalate the situation, in the spirit of European values, and to seek a constructive exchange and peaceful dialogue," Westerwelle said in a statement.Erdogan, though, has increasingly accused foreign forces, international media and market speculators of stoking conflict and trying to undermine the economy of the only largely Muslim NATO state.
Turkish markets stabilized slightly on Wednesday, gaining 2.2 percent, having been hit by a sharp sell-off sparked by the protests. Stocks have fallen by more than 20 percent since 31 May.Erdogan has also exerted strong pressure on the media, seven newspapers last week carrying the identical headline citing Erdogan as saying he, not the protesters, guaranteed democracy.Turkey's broadcasting authority announced on Wednesday it was fining four television channels over their coverage of the protests on the grounds of inciting violence, media reports said. It was not clear how much they would be fined.
FIERCE CLASHES
The night had brought some of the worst clashes since the troubles began. Police fired tear gas into thousands of people gathered on the square, including people in office clothes who had gathered after work, some with families with children. The crowd scattered into narrow streets around, leaving a hard core of protesters to return, lighting bonfires and stoning water cannon. Police then launched tear gas attacks again, the cycle repeating itself until numbers dwindled."We will continue our measures in an unremitting manner, whether day or night, until marginal elements are cleared and the square is open to the people," Istanbul Governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu declared on television on Tuesday night.Police were less in evidence by the morning and it was not clear if protesters would return in the course of the day, as they have previously.
A fierce crackdown on initial protests against planned redevelopment of Gezi Park, a leafy corner of Taksim, triggered the wider protests, drawing in a broad alliance of secularists, nationalists, professional workers, unionists and students - some of whom would never before have considered sharing a political platform.
Erdogan argues that the broader mass of people are at best the unwitting tools of political extremists and terrorists and points to his 50 percent vote in the last of three successive electoral victories for his political authority. His critics, some of whom who say conservative religious elements have won out over centrist reformers in his AK Party, accuse him an increasingly authoritarian conduct and of inflaming the crisis with unyielding talk. Some charge that his politics are too often shaped by a religious agenda, with the introduction of alcohol restrictions and comments suggesting he favors a traditionalist role for women. For his part, Erdogan has complained of the contempt he feels secularist leaders have shown in the past for religious sentiments, excluding women with head scarves from universities. He has accused protesters of attacking women in headscarves and of desecrating mosques by bringing in beer."There's no room for dialogue when there's ongoing violence," said Mucella Yapici of the Taksim Solidarity Platform, a core group behind the Gezi Park campaign.
ERDOGAN'S RISE
Three people have died in the unrest and Turkey's Medical Association said that, as of late on Monday, almost 5,000 people had been sought hospital treatment since the unrest began.Gezi Park has been turned into a ramshackle settlement of tents by leftists, environmentalists, liberals, students and professionals who see a plan to develop one of the few green spaces in Istanbul as symptomatic of an overbearing government.
Erdogan swept to power in 2002 after forging his AK Party from an alliance of centrist reformers and nationalists as well as remnants of Islamist parties banned in the past by secular authorities. Denying any plans to subvert Turkey's secular order, he set about deep-reaching social reforms. He broke the political power of an army that had toppled four governments over four decades, including Turkey's first Islamist-led government with which he was associated. He also opened talks with the European Union, introduced some social reforms and sought to negotiate an end to a long-running Kurdish rebellion. What is notably absent during this crisis is the speculation of a military coup that has in the past accompanied social unrest - some tribute to Erdogan's reforms. Army power is broken. Nor though does there seem to be any political alternative to Erdogan, who faces a weak opposition in parliament and fragmented groups on the streets.

Syria rebels kill 60 Shiites; missiles hit Lebanon

BEIRUT (AP) — Syrian rebels have attacked a village in the country's east, killing dozens of local Shiites, activists said Wednesday, highlighting the increasingly sectarian nature of Syria's more than two-year-old conflict. A Syrian government official denounced the attack, saying it was a "massacre" of civilians. In another escalation, a Syrian government helicopter on Wednesday fired three missiles on a border town in Lebanon, lightly wounding one person. At least one of the missiles struck the center of Arsal, according to Lebanese security officials and residents. The Arsal attack is the latest incident of Lebanon being pulled into the war next door. Scores of rebels and civilians who fled from the Syrian western town of Qusair last week in the last days of a government military offensive there have taken refuge in Arsal. The town is predominantly Sunni Muslim, and support for the Syrian rebels fighting to topple President Bashar Assad runs high.Milhem Hojeiri, a resident, said shrapnel from one of the missiles lightly wounded a schoolteacher in Arsal. He said the town's population has almost doubled in the past two years because of refugees and rebels from Syria who have taken shelter there."There is a lot of fear here, the town is fast becoming a casualty of the war in Syria," he said. The Lebanese officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, did not provide more details on the Arsal attack.Meanwhile, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 60 people, mostly Shiite fighters but also ordinary villagers, were killed on Tuesday in the Syrian village of Hatla in the oil-rich province of Deir el-Zour that borders Iraq.It was the latest high casualty incident in Syria's conflict, which has killed more than 80,000 people so far, according to the U.N.Thousands of rebels took part in the attack and at least 10 of them were killed in the fighting, said the Observatory.
In Damascus, a government official said the rebels "carried out a massacre against villagers in which older people and children were killed." The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The fighting in Deir el-Zour came a week after Syrian troops, backed by Lebanon's militant Shiite Hezbollah group, captured the strategic town of Qusair near the Lebanese border after nearly three weeks of fierce battles that killed dozens of troops, rebels and Hezbollah members.
Hezbollah's involvement in the Qusair battle underlined the group's commitment in support of Assad's regime and edged the civil war in Syria closer to a regional sectarian conflict pitting the Middle East's Iranian-backed Shiite axis against Sunnis. Most of the armed rebels in Syria are from the country's Sunni majority, while Assad has retained core support among the minorities, including his own Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam, along with Christians and Shiites. An activist based in Deir el-Zour said the rebel attack was in retaliation for an attack Monday by Shiites from Hatla that killed four rebels.Thaer al-Deiry, who identified himself only by his nickname for fear of government retaliation, said via Skype that rebels gathered and launched a counter attack Tuesday. He said some 150 Shiites from the village fled across the Euphrates River to the government-held village of Jafra."The situation in the village is quiet and the Free Syrian Army is in full control," al-Deiry said, referring to the rebels. He added that the village has been under opposition control for more than a year but some of its Shiite residents recently started collecting arms apparently to fight along government troops. Also Wednesday, the Observatory reported heavy clashes in the central city of Homs, mostly in the neighborhood of Wadi Sayeh. The fighting appeared to be an attempt by government forces to separate two main rebel-held areas in the city, Khaldiyeh and the center of Homs.Building on its victory in Qusair, the Syrian military has shifted its attention to try to clear rebel-held areas in Homs, a linchpin area linking Damascus with regime strongholds on the Mediterranean coast, and the northern city of Aleppo.___Associated Press writer Albert Aji contributed to this report from Damascus, Syria.

Federico Lombardi said he had “no statement to make on the proceedings or on the content of the conversation” the content of which was not therefore recorded or transcribed.According to CLAR’s leaders, Francis apparently encouraged the Conference’s members to “keep moving forward” and not be afraid to take risks by approaching the poor and new emerging figures across the continent. “Perhaps even a letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine (of the Faith) will arrive for you, telling you that you said such or such thing... But do not worry. Explain whatever you have to explain, but move forward... Open the doors, do something there where life calls for it. I would rather have a Church that makes mistakes for doing something than one that gets sick for being closed up...,” the Pope was quoted saying.According to CLAR, the Pope also spoke about his election: “I did not lose my peace [of mind - no perdí la paz] at any moment, you know? And this is not from myself, I am of the kind that gets worried, that gets upset... But I did not lose my peace at any moment. This confirms to me that this comes from God...”About his gestures and his decision to live in St. Martha’s House, Francis apparently said: “I do it because I felt this was what the Lord wanted. But these gestures are not mine, there is Someone else here...”“I came [to Rome] only with the necessary clothes, I washed them at night, and suddenly this... And I did not have any chance! In the London betting houses I was in 44th place, look at that, the one who bet on me won a lot, of course...! This does not come from me...”After reiterating that the death of a homeless person does not make headlines as a 10-point drop in the stock markets, he mentioned abortion: It is necessary to go to the causes, to the roots. “Abortion is bad, but that is clear. But behind the approval of this law, what interests are behind it... they are at times the conditions posed by the great organizations to support with money, you know that? It is necessary to go to the causes, we cannot remain only in the symptoms. Do not be afraid to denounce... you will suffer, you will have problems, but do not be afraid to denounce, that is the prophecy of religious life...,” the Pope was quoted saying.According to the transcript of the conversation, Francis then apparently shared two “concerns” with CLAR’s religious. “One is the Pelagian current that there is in the Church at this moment. There are some restorationist groups. I know some, it fell upon me to receive them in Buenos Aires. And one feels as if one goes back 60 years! Before the Council... One feels in 1940...” The Pope is then said to have illustrated this, remarking: “when I was elected, I received a letter from one of these groups, and they said: "Your Holiness, we offer you this spiritual treasure: 3,525 rosaries." Why don't they say, 'we pray for you, we ask...', but this thing of counting...”

This reference to the Pelagianism of the more traditionalist currents seems to echo the words which the then cardinal Joseph Ratzinger used during the Spiritual Exercises of 1986 (in the book “Guardare Cristo: esempi di fede, speranza e carità” [Looking at Christ: Examples of faith, hope and charity]; published by Jaka Book): “the other face of the same vice is the Pelagianism of the pious. They do not want forgiveness and in general they do not want any real gift from God either. They just want to be in order. They don’t want hope they just want security. Their aim is to gain the right to salvation through a strict practice of religious exercises, through prayers and action. What they lack is humility which is essential in order to love; the humility to receive gifts not just because we deserve it or because of how we act…”Francis’ second concern was to do with “a Gnostic current.”  “Those Pantheisms... Both are elite currents, but this one is of a more educated elite... I heard of a superior general that prompted the sisters of her congregation to not pray in the morning, but to spiritually bathe in the cosmos, things like that... They concern me because they ignore the incarnation! And the Son of God became our flesh, the Word was made flesh, and in Latin America we have flesh abundantly [de tirar al techo]! What happens to the poor, their pains, this is our flesh...”The Pope alluded to the holiness of a number of Curia members, to the existence of a “stream of corruption” and to the existence of a "gay lobby" in the Vatican – a subject which had been discussed in cardinals’ congregations before the last conclave and could have been included in the Commission of Cardinals’ famous report on the Vatileaks case. Francis also confirmed that “the reform of the Roman Curia is something that almost all Cardinals asked for in the Congregations preceding the Conclave. I also asked for it.”“I cannot promote the reform myself, these matters of administration... I am very disorganized, I have never been good at this. But the cardinals of the Commission (made up of 8 cardinals selected for the task, Ed.) will move it forward. Pray for me... that I make mistakes the least possible...,” the Pope said, according to CLAR.Francis then spoke about the 5th General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate, held in the Marian shrine of Aparecida, Brazil, in 2007 (the Pope is due to visit the shrine when he goes to Brazil for the World Youth Day this summer): “What Aparecida had that was special was that it was not celebrated in a hotel, nor in a retreat house... it was celebrated in a Marian shrine. During the week, we celebrated the Eucharist and there were some 250 people, because it was a regular workday. But on the weekends, it was full....! The people of God joined the Bishops, asking for the Holy Spirit…” The Pope then quoted the Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Joao Braz de Aviz who was one of Brazil’s bishops at the time: “I saw the Prefect, João who went out with his mitre, and people got close to him, and they brought the children near, and he greeted them, and hugged them like this... This same bishop then voted (on the content of the final document produced during the meeting, Ed.) He could not have voted the same way as if he had been in a hotel!”“Enjoy this moment that we live in the Congregation for Consecrated Life... It is a moment of sunshine... Enjoy. The Prefect [Cardinal Aviz] is good. And the Secretary [Abp. Rodríguez Carballo, OFM], that was "lobbied" by you! No, really, being the president of USG [Union of Superiors General], the logical thing was that it would be him!” the Pope added, referring to Franciscan leader Fr. Jose Rodriguez Carballo, who was recently appointed archbishop and as the dicastery’s number two man.Francis encouraged CLAR’s  religious to converse with bishops, with bishops’ conferences and with CELAM (the Latin American Episcopal Conference). Finally, he expressed his concern about the fact that “there are religious congregations, very, very small groups; a few people, [who tend to be] very old...” which “don’t have vocations, that I know, [whether] the Holy Spirit doesn't want them to continue, maybe they've finished their mission in the church, I don't know.... But there they are, clinging to their buildings, clinging to money.... I don't know why this happens, I don't know how to read it. But I ask you to be worried about these groups... The handling of money... is something that needs to be reflected on.”

German top court 'not interested' in saving euro

Today @ 14:27 JUNE 12,13
"Otherwise the end alone would justify the means," Andreas Vosskuhle, the presiding judge, noted.
In the run-up to the hearing, ECB chief Mario Draghi had called his bank's bond-buying programme "the most successful monetary policy undertaken in recent time."It recently bought some €1.1 billion of troubled bonds, helping Italy and Spain to keep their heads above the water. The plaintiffs - a group which has so far challenged almost every euro-rescue step taken by Germany - also asked the Karlsruhe-based court to look at the ECB's Outright Monetary Transactions (OMT) scheme.Under the OMT, the bank is to buy "unlimited" bonds from troubled euro-countries, provided they sign up to strict reforms. In this respect, the programme is different to the other bond-buying scheme, which comes with no strings attached on reform.OMT has never been activated. But it's very announcement in August last year helped calm markets and also lowered borrowing costs in Italy and Spain. The plaintiffs, backed by the Bundesbank - the German central bank - say it would burden the German taxpayer with undemocratic, non-transparent financial risks to the tune of several billion euros and that it is therefore unconstitutional. The plaintiffs also say the scheme is illegal under EU law, because the ECB is not allowed to fund governments directly. The German court has no clear jurisdiction over the ECB, with judges still making up their minds if they can actually rule on this case or not.
Another option is to refer the case to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg or to rule only on those parts of the complaint that affect the German legal system.Judges on Tuesday quizzed ECB board member Joerg Asmussen for over one hour, with questions on: Who is to decide how many bonds are to be bought? What is the "acceptable" price? Would the ECB also lose money on bonds if a country goes through a Greek-type debt restructuring? Asmussen said the exact rules of the OMT scheme are "ready to be published within days."He predicted there would be no other debt restructurings as in Greece. He also said ECB would only buy bonds with a maturity of up to three years, imposing a time limit on the anti-crisis programme."The ECB and its decision-makers are aware of the limits of its monetary policy mandate. Our measures are aimed at ... preventing an unwanted break-up of the euro. It is not allowed to, is not able to and does not want to replace the actions of democratically elected governments," Asmussen noted.
His former university colleague, Jens Weidmann, now head of the Bundesbank, disagreed.Weidmann was the only one to vote against the OMT scheme last year, when the ECB board first announced it."I see considerable problems with the bond-buying programmes and other measures of the euro-system, which blur the line between European monetary policy and financial policies of individual member states," Weidmann told the court.Despite their policy differences, Asmussen and Weidmann sat next to each other in court and the presiding judge even mixed up who is who at one point. The hearing continues on Wednesday, but a verdict is not expected before autumn.

EU to slap ban on online blocking

Today @ 09:37 JUNE 12,13
Speaking with EUobserver on Tuesday (11 June) following an internal debate among commissioners, an EU official indicated that the proposal would include a ban on blocking and throttling. Bandwidth throttling, where a network provider deliberately slows down the service on certain websites, has been identified as the most common restriction to service. However, it is likely that exemptions will be included to differentiation based on speed and volume of online traffic. The proposals, which will form part of an overhaul to the bloc's regulation on the digital telecoms sector, are expected to be published by digital agenda commissioner Neelie Kroes in late July."What matters is that people aren't stopped from accessing the content they want and that we maximise network investment so that everything works better because of higher speeds," the official said.
The Netherlands and Slovenia are currently the only EU countries with national laws on net neutrality.Net neutrality campaigners argue that Internet service providers and governments should treat data equally and not discriminate against or restrict access to websites and online services.Last week, 20 Internet entrepreneurs signed an open letter calling on EU lawmakers to put in place "safeguards to curb the tendencies of access operators to act as gatekeepers of the Internet."They said the practice is "harmful to the fundamental rights of users, to new and existing companies counting on the global reach of the Internet to launch and grow their businesses and to innovation and the economy in general."Meanwhile, evidence collected in 2012 by Berec, the pan-European group of national Internet service providers, found that around one in five fixed lines and over one in three mobile users had restricted services. For their part, MEPs are likely to support net neutrality rules, having twice adopted non-legislative resolutions calling on the commission to act.Speaking with this website, Marietje Schaake, a Dutch liberal MEP and prominent digital rights campaigner, welcomed the proposed."I'm happy that blocking and throttling will be banned. This practice hurts access to people's information, is anti-competitive and limits an open internet," she said
But she also voiced caution noting that "as ever the the devil will be in the detail", adding that "the gap between relying on transparency and competition as the commission has done in the past and rules that are legally binding is large. I really hope the Commission will take this important step."
