Political drama engages, outrages Canadians across the country

The drama unfolding in Ottawa with all the intrigue of a well-crafted political thriller has riveted Canadians across the country - both political junkies and citizens who turned out in such anemic numbers for the federal election barely seven weeks ago. While premiers like Ontario's Dalton McGuinty weighed in Tuesday, Canadians weren't leaving the talking to the politicians. Talk-show phone lines buzzed with a seldom-seen fervour and media websites groaned under a flood of comments. Wow. Never have I seen more regular people upset at politicians, a reader from British Columbia wrote on the Globe and Mail's website. Most everyone it seemed - those furious at the hijacking of democracy and those blissful at democracy working exactly as it should - had a strong opinion. This is what bullies in a school yard do when they can't win a fight fair and square - gang up, read another post on the Globe's site. Daniela Scopa, a producer with CJAD in Montreal, said the phone lines were jammed for close to three hours during their Tuesday morning talk show. People are just appalled. They can't believe that any of this is going on, they're disgusted by it, Scopa said. That's the word most people use, just completely and utterly disgusted.Putting his feet up on his desk after a program in which the phones lit up like Christmas trees, Bill Carroll, a veteran host at Toronto's CFRB radio, called the high-stakes machinations in the nation's capital a dream issue for talk shows. This is like a once-a-decade kind of story, Caroll said.

A Facebook group inviting people to join a day-long party of sorts in cyberspace billed as Stephen Harper's Last Day as Prime Minister had send out almost 30,000 invitations - with nearly 8,000 accepting as of Tuesday afternoon. The virtual event was scheduled for Dec. 8, when the government could first be toppled. Then there's the I Don't Understand Parliamentary Democracy and I'm Outraged Facebook group - but the reaction was not only virtual. A website, rallyforCanada.ca, is trying to organize protests in cities across the country Saturday against opposition coalition plans to form a government - with the help of the separatist Bloc Quebecois.

NEW YORK – In a session that showed more indecision than conviction, the stock market rebounded Tuesday from the previous day's massive decline. The Dow Jones industrials rose 270 points after fluctuating sharply, and all the major indexes rose more than 3 percent.Investors wary about the economy drew solace from Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Alan Mulally, who said the automaker has enough cash to make it through 2009 and might not need government help. Rival General Motors Corp. said late in the day that it needs $12 billion in government loans to continue operating; the news briefly shook the market, but stocks rebounded before the close.

The market was also encouraged after General Electric Co. said it expects to pay a dividend despite projections that fourth-quarter results will near the low end of its previous guidance.That raised some hopes that U.S. companies may fare better during the recession than the market has feared. Meanwhile, investors got an additional lift after the Federal Reserve said it will extend the life of key programs aimed at loosening the credit markets and restoring stability to the financial sector.But, that still wasn't enough to completely calm investors who are weary after huge swings in the market the past few months — including the nearly 680-point slide in the Dow on Monday. The blue chips were up more than 260 points during the afternoon Tuesday, then dipped to a loss before swinging higher. TEL AVIV, The Israeli shekel weakened 1.8 percent against the dollar on Monday, a day after the Bank of Israel said it would continue buying foreign currency until forex reserves reach $40 billion to $44 billion.The shekel's representative, or official, rate was set at 3.99 per dollar, compared with Friday's rate of 3.92 per dollar.The shekel reached a 13-month low of 4.022 per dollar on Nov. 21.The dollar strengthened because of its gains abroad and also because of the Bank of Israel's announcement on forex purchases, a dealer at Union Bank of Israel said.Israel's foreign exchange market is closed on Sundays.The central bank began buying $25 million a day of forex in March and raised it to $100 million a day in July in a plan to boost reserves by $10 billion, which was expected in late November.

The Bank of Israel said on Sunday its reserves have increased by $10 billion to reach $37 billion and it planned to continue buying $100 million a day of forex until reserves reach between $40 billion and $44 billion.The shekel has weakened sharply against the dollar in recent months, partly due to the central bank's forex programme.Last month, the Bank of Israel said it was considering extending the programme in light of increasing uncertainty regarding the state of the global economy.The Union dealer said the shekel was expected to trade in a near-term range of 3.95-4.05 per dollar.

Uganda: World Bank Boosts Mineral Sector

Kampala — THE World Bank has approved a $5m (about sh9.9b) credit to finance to the Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources Project.The additional credit will strengthen the Government's capacity to develop a sound minerals sector based on private investments and improvements in selected artisanal and small scale mining areas.These extra International Development Assistance (IDA) resources come at a time for Uganda, when the world is experiencing a minerals boom which has seen a rapid increase in prices for metals, the bank explained in a statement.Uganda will utilise the funds to position itself to take advantage of the increasing exploration investments, said Christopher Sheldon, the World Bank task team leader for the project.The statement added that the number of mineral licenses and amount of non-tax mineral revenue collected by Uganda had increased by 200%t since the project's inception in 2003.Revenues from mining peaked $1.66m in 2007 from $550,000 in 2003, the statement disclosed.In the same period, the Government issued 229 mineral exploration and development licenses generating $22m in revenue up from 190 licenses generating $5m in 2003.The number of licenses given to artisanal and small scale miners has also risen to 221 in 2007 from 100 in 2003.The bank said Uganda's leading mineral export is gold although active mining activities extend to many other minerals including copper, tin and wolfram.The project was initially funded by an IDA credit of $25m with $5.35m co-financing from the African Development Bank and $6m from the Nordic Development Fund.Initially scheduled to close on June 30, 2009, the additional funds from IDA have resulted in extending the project to June 30, 2011, said the statement.This project will enable the development of the mineral resources in an efficient, socially sustainable, and environmentally sound manner, as well as contribute substantially to the country's earnings, employment, reduction of poverty, and improvement of quality of life in rural areas, said Kundhavi Kadiresan, the World Bank country manager for Uganda.2008 New Vision.

NEW YORK (AFP) – A fresh wave of selling hit global stock markets Monday as weak economic news from around the world and confirmation of a US recession prompted a massive pullback from last week's gains.The Dow Jones Industrial Average sank 679.95 points (7.70 percent) to close at 8,149.09, in the fourth-steepest point loss in history for the blue-chip index.The Nasdaq composite plummeted 8.95 percent to 1,398.07 and the broad-market Standard & Poor's 500 index tumbled 8.93 percent to 816.21.A pullback was expected after a huge snapback rally over the past several sessions, with the Dow posting its best five-day percentage increase since 1932 of 17percent. The Birth of the Eternal God DEC 2,08

I feel that there is a tremendous need to enlighten mankind as to the true identity of Christ. Multitudes think of the Saviour as just another member of the human race born nearly 2,000 years ago. Nothing could be further from the truth. In this newsletter, I clearly want to trace the preexistence of Christ to prove that He was the Eternal God who became man, in order that He might die for poor, helpless, hopeless sinners. I also want to show that His birth had to be through the channels of a virgin, inseminated by the power of the Holy Spirit, if His sacrifice for sinners was to be effective.

Christ's preexistence

The altogether lovely One, born in Bethlehem's manger, existed from all eternity. The verse that prophesies His exact birthplace also tells of His preexistence. Micah 5:2: But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Isaiah masterfully handles this truth in chapter 9, verse 6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.Let's analyze this verse for a moment. Notice that a child is born (this speaks of the Lord's birth), but the next phrase mentions a son being given. This speaks about God sending the Son who was in His presence and coincides with Galatians 4:4, When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son. Then Isaiah goes on to proclaim this Son as God by the titles The mighty God and The everlasting Father. These terms are possible because of the relationship of the Trinity. Remember that Jesus said in John 10:30, I and my Father are one.John opens his gospel with the statement, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:1-3). In verse 14, he identifies this member of the Trinity who is called the Word. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us. Think of it. This One who was in the beginning with God and was God became flesh and lived among insignificant human beings because of His love for sinners.

Yes, Christ always existed and came from heaven to earth. Listen to His numerous statements verifying this truth: For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world (John 6:33). I am the living bread which came down from heaven (John 6:51). Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world (John 8:23). I proceeded forth and came from God (John 8:42). I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world (John 16:28).In His high priestly prayer, Jesus said, I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, 0 Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was (John 17:4, 5). Jesus said in John 5:46, Moses...wrote of me. Here Christ delves back hundreds of years to the first five books of the Bible, called The Pentateuch, and states that Moses mentioned Him. This is important because Moses recorded these words centuries before the birth of Christ. Jesus also said in John 8:56, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. How could Abraham see His day centuries before His birth if there were no preexistent One? Oh, friend, Jesus always existed as a coequal member of the Trinity. Don't listen to a group of blinded cultists who would rob Christ of His deity, but hear the Word of the Lord. His preexistence is also proven through the Bible statements indicating that He created the world. John 1:3: All things were made by him. John 1:10: He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Colossians 1:16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. Hebrews 1:2 states, By whom also he [Christ] made the worlds.The part Christ had in creating the world and mankind agrees with the Old Testament account of creation. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). The Hebrew for God is Elohim, a plural noun, meaning more than one. This is a glorious declaration of the Trinity. You don't believe it? What will you do with Genesis 1:26? And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.We have but skimmed the surface of evidence that proves that Christ preexisted His earthly birth. Now let's move on to the glorious truth of His coming to earth via the channel of a virgin's womb. At this point let's consider Philippians 2:5-8 because it is such a glorious transitional passage. It brings the eternal God from heaven to a bodily appearance upon earth so that He might die for sinners. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God [His spirit form in eternity], thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men [His birth]. Why? Verse 8: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Christ's virgin birth

Lost religionists mock the virgin birth. In an issue of the magazine Challenge, a number of sickening articles and poems appeared. I quote one of them to show the world how far liberal modernistic religionists will go in their attempt to rob Christ of His deity. It is a poem about Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the poem she says:First, I've got nothing to say -- about anything that happened before Joseph and I got married. Jesus was our child. Joseph's and mine. You can believe it or not. Suit yourself. He was my first born so naturally I thought he was something special. So, he's the Messiah they say. I'd rather he had stayed a carpenter, married a nice Jewish girl and given me a lot of fat little grandchildren.What blasphemy! This is the prophecy of the Apostle Peter fulfilled before our eyes. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of (2 Peter 2:1, 2).Yes, the way of truth is often evil spoken of because of ordained wolves in sheep's clothing who call themselves members of the Christian faith and yet would tear Christ to shreds if the opportunity presented itself. The crucifixion would be mild in comparison to what some of our lost seminary professors would do to Jesus if they had the chance in this twentieth century. However, let's not waste our time on man's drivel but instead invest it wisely as we listen to the Word of God concerning the truth about the virgin birth.

A virgin birth was necessary because Adam sinned. Since Adam was the head of the human race, every person born into it through natural generation or through the process of birth inherits the old sinful Adamic nature. Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12). Yes, all sinned or became guilty of sin simply by inheriting the fallen nature of Adam at birth. Quirks and diseases are passed on from generation to generation. Sugar diabetes is a prime example. Likewise, the sin nature is passed on to every generation. Romans 5:18 is another verse that clearly teaches the necessity of a virgin birth. Therefore as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Christ] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.Notice that judgment came upon all men unto condemnation because of Adam's sin, but through the righteousness of Christ one may be liberated from this judgment. It is only logical to conclude that if Christ had come through the normal channels of reproduction, He would have also been born with this judgment of condemnation upon Him because He also would have inherited Adam's sinful nature. Therefore, in order that He might set men free from this condemnation, He had to be born in another manner so as not to be tainted with the old wicked nature of Adam.There was only one way this possibility existed and that was through a virgin birth -- bypassing man through insemination of the virgin's ova by the Holy Spirit. This ova lies dormant in every woman until it is activated by a male sperm. Gasoline is also dormant until activated by a spark. Is it an impossibility for the God, who formed man out of the dust of the ground and took a rib out of man to form woman, to place the activating seed within this holy virgin and bring forth His Son through the miracle-working power of His Holy Spirit? Of course not. This is exactly what the Father did. Hear the Word of God.The very first messianic prophecy is found in Genesis 3:15. There we hear the Lord God uttering a prophecy against the serpent, saying, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it [the woman's seed] shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. The statement, her seed, is the first reference to the virgin birth in God's Word. All humans are from the seed of man, but the seed of a woman implies a stupendous miracle. Jeremiah 31:22 again speaks of a miraculous event that would occur upon this earth. For the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.A woman conceiving and bearing a manchild would not be a new thing in the earth this is the rule of life. After conception, one bears a male or female child. Therefore this entirely new thing that would transpire had to be a miracle. What was it? A woman, without any human intervention or penetration, would conceive, carry, and deliver a man-child. This happened to be the Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world. Isaiah 7:14 again sheds light on this event of the ages. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah is not merely referring to a young woman giving birth to a son. That would not be a sign. Millions of young women have been able to bear sons. The sign is that a virgin shall bear a son without an act of intercourse.

Forget the arguments of the religious contortionists who argue that the Hebrew word almah is young woman instead of virgin. All one need do is study Matthew 1:23 where the Greek word parthenos can only be translated virgin to arrive at a final answer. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Verse 22 states that this is a quotation from the prophet. What prophet? Isaiah. And where did Isaiah make the statement? Chapter 7, verse 14. So, the Greek text handles the Old Testament He brew text proving that God meant a virgin and not a young woman.I repeat what was stated earlier: A young woman bearing a child would be no sign. Any of you young expectant mothers reading this would be the first to realize this truth. However, had you become impregnated miraculously by the power of God without knowing a man, it would very obviously be a sign. That happened to Mary and only to Mary.The reason that God the Son, originally in spirit form (see Philippians 2:5), had to have an earthly birth is found in Hebrews 10:4, 5. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not [animal blood could not take away sin], but a body hast thou prepared me. Since animal blood only covered sin and was presented as a down payment for sin's debt until God's Lamb should come, Christ had a body with divine blood prepared in the womb of a virgin so that He could shed that blood and die for the sins of the world. Because it had to be pure blood, free from the taint of Adam's sin, the body and blood were prepared by the Father and placed in the womb of the virgin Mary.Luke 1:26-28,30,31,34 depicts this thrilling story: And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.... Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

This is a precious truth. Though she was espoused or engaged to Joseph, she had not known a man or experienced premarital sex. Remember that God wrote the Bible, and He declares that Mary was a pure virgin. Away with the mentally warped, religious hypocrites who are so defiled that they imagine all sorts of depraved things about this sweet virgin. Not everyone thinks and acts as they do. Mary declares, I have never known a man -- how shall this baby be conceived? The blessed answer is found in verse 35: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Anyone who believes that God created this gigantic, fantastic, and astronomical universe certainly believes that God can bring His only begotten Son into the world by a separate act of creation. With God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).There is the entire story. The preexistent God, second member of the Trinity, came to take upon himself a body with blood so as to shed His blood for sinners. The sin-tainted blood inherited from Adam would not qualify Him as the sinless Saviour, so a body was prepared with blood produced by the Father, and placed into the womb of a virgin by the blessed Holy Spirit. Christ eventually went to the cross and shed His blood. Because He was the God-man shedding untainted holy blood, mankind may have eternal life by receiving this sacrifice. Believe the Word of God -- see Christ crucified and risen again. Receive this Christ today.

What a special time of the year! Thanksgiving and Christmas are more precious to me than any other holidays, and they so beautifully go hand in hand.More and more, Dr. Van Impe and I realize the importance of being grateful for the true essence of Christmas - that God became flesh. He came as a baby, humbling himself to a manger, and, one day, to Calvary's tree for you and me. Oh, what love!I wonder if we can really understand the emotion in heaven and the joy here on earth as Mary and Joseph made their way to Bethlehem just prior to the birth of Christ.Can you see them as they wearily make their way through the narrow streets of Bethlehem? Mary, tired from the long journey, sits on the little donkey as Joseph leads it along.Their journey is almost over, and none too soon. They stop in front of one of the inns in Bethlehem. With a tender word, Joseph comforts his wife and then strides quickly toward the inn door.Have you ever wondered what Mary was thinking as Joseph knocked at the innkeeper's door? Perhaps she was remembering what her cousin Elizabeth had said to her some time before. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance [fulfillment] of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:42-45).Mary knew how blessed she was, for out of all the women in the world, God had chosen her to give the world this baby; He was the Son of God, produced by the Holy Spirit, waiting to be born in Bethlehem (see Luke 1:35 and Hebrews 10:5).

Mary knew about the promise that foretold: But thou, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (Micah 5:2).Mary's mind didn't dare leap ahead to contemplate the rest of those words. It was enough for her to know that she was, at this very moment, in Bethlehem (ancestral home of King David, Joseph's forefather) and that her time to give birth was at hand.Mary looked at Joseph, footsore and fatigued from walking alongside the donkey all the way so that she could ride. She knew how blessed she was to have this good and just man as her husband. He had handled the situation so well. He had shown her nothing but love and concern. More than once he had told her, I know, beloved wife, that this child has been conceived in a special way. The angel laid all my fears to rest.Joseph had learned of Mary's pregnancy after she returned from visiting Elizabeth. For six months, they had marveled at the conversations they each had with the angel. It must have been awesome for them, realizing that the Holy Ghost had visited Mary and that the child she carried was a divine original.Oh, Joseph, I can hear Mary saying, He is to be called the Son of God.Yes, Mary, Joseph responded, and His name is to be called JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins.Did they recall the words of Isaiah? Did they repeat those names? Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel ... For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6).Perhaps Mary remembered those conversations as her husband knocked at the innkeeper's door. She was so tired. The journey had been long and hard. But now, at last, they had arrived in Bethlehem.For us, today, a journey to Bethlehem is still not easy. In the hustle and bustle of the season, there are many things to deter us. We've all heard that we should keep Christ in Christmas, but let's be sure that we keep ourselves in Christmas, as well! If we are not careful, we can become so busy with Yuletide activities that we are exhausted before we get to Bethlehem - and miss the real Christmas altogether.

Knock ... knock ... knock!

Joseph knocks at the innkeeper's door. A Baby is about to be born - the most important Baby ever to be born on this earth. Let us in ... let Him in ... out of the cold and darkness of the night. But the Bible tells us there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2:7).No room! Those are heart-rending words. Would we have said that? Yet, isn't it being said every day? We are all innkeepers, with room for many things, but do we have room for Him? In our lives - shabby stables that they are - He may be cradled, but we must give Him room.Joseph, the rugged carpenter of Nazareth, a just man whose faith transcended his misgivings, enfolded Mary's helplessness in his strong arms as he lifted her off the back of the little donkey. Someone had tapped him on his sagging shoulders and said, There is a place, if your wife won't mind. I know I can fix it and make it clean. It will be quiet there ... and warm.Joseph had ministered to Mary's needs in that weary pilgrimage to Bethlehem; but his husbandly duties had not yet ended. Mary in a stable? The Son of God born in a barn? How his mind must have reeled. Remember, he was very human.

Husband, would you like for your wife to give birth to her firstborn in a stable? What lowly circumstances! The Lord of all heaven and earth was about to make His human presence known in the world - but in a barn? This was not the birthplace Joseph had imagined for JESUS.Barns smell, not just of clean hay, but of animals. Barns are not always sanitary. Oh, the lovely Nativity scenes we see at Christmas do not begin to portray what Joseph and Mary must have experienced in those pre-birth moments, as they contemplated their plight.One wishes we could push back the pages of time and make it different - different, perhaps, like the school Christmas play I heard about.One little boy had been asked to play the role of the innkeeper; it was quite a challenge for him because he was a very excitable child - but his teachers wanted to include him. His parents, teachers and schoolmates were so pleased that he had this opportunity.His were simple lines. When Joseph knocked at the door and asked for a room, he, the innkeeper, would say, There is no room in the inn. Seven words. And that was all.The big night came. Practice performances had gone well. Then came that moment.Knock ... knock ... knock - Joseph knocks at the inn door. With great emotion and convincing reality, Joseph presents his case to the innkeeper. His wife is very pregnant. In fact, the baby is due any moment. Won't the innkeeper please let them in? The little boy who had rehearsed his lines so very carefully, listened patiently, then said the seven words loud and clear: There is no room in the inn.Joseph turned, his shoulders sagging. But before he could leave, the innkeeper opened the door, thrust his head out, and said, loud and clear, Wait ... wait! You can have my room.

It wasn't in the script. Nor was it in the script on that first Christmas. And so it was, that ... she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2:6,7).As we recall this short synopsis of the most beautiful story ever given from God, may your heart be reminded of the importance of remembering, not just the gifts that are to come, the families we are to see, and the loved ones we shall enjoy, but remembering the true message of Christmas - God's love for us. And may we not get so distracted by the many activities of the holiday season that we never even reach Bethlehem.Dr. Van Impe and I are grateful for the opportunity to share the saving message of God's love for the world in these closing days of time. Weak Israeli leaders create an atmosphere in which terrorists understand that they receive a reward for terror. Whether it is releasing murderers from prison cells, offering Jewish land for the illusion of peace, or persecuting Jewish citizens who cling to their heritage and their holy Land of Israel, a signal is sent out that terror pays and pays big. Yesterday, Yechiel Leiter - the alleged right-winger and former Benjamin Netanyahu campaign manager who is running for the Likud’s Knesset list - made an astounding statement that should be a wake-up call to those who love the Land of Israel. Leiter publicly and unashamedly stated that, If I have to choose between receiving 0% and receiving 50% [of Judea and Samaria], I choose the latter. He added that, if we don't declare our own borders they will be declared for us.

Yechiel Leiter's clear implication is that Israel is not a sovereign nation but just a puppet of the nations of the world.Leiter’s statement comes on top of his own Leiter Plan in which he advocated the destruction of 11 Jewish towns. He added that, We will tear our clothing in mourning [for these towns]. We will sit shiva but the nation will accept it. There will be only 2% who won’t accept it. Ostensibly, Leiter does not include his town among those who he deems eligible to be destroyed.The Jewish Nation has already sat shiva for thousands of Jews who have been murdered as a result of the sin of giving away parts of our G-d-given Land of Israel.David Ben-Gurion said that no Jew has the right to give away any of the Land of Israel. Menachem Begin assured us that by giving away the Sinai we would forever keep all of Judea and Samaria. Yitzhak Rabin only pledged autonomy to the Arabs. Manhigut Yehudit officials ask Yechiel Leiter why it is by his word that the Jewish People should forever give away to our sworn enemies the Land which we have been given by our Creator. We ask by what hubris (and by what logic) does Yechiel Leiter – who touts himself as a religious Jew who has been instrumental in the settlement enterprise – think that he is the one to save Israel by creating a terror state in our biblical heartland.

Leiter's statements that concessions are inevitable further the minority, leftist, suicidal plan to amputate the biblical heartland of Israel. Leiter's words not only are dangerous to Israel’s physical existence, but they also contradict the official Likud Charter which calls for the annexation of all areas of Israel liberated in the 1967 War.The Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Schneerson, a true Torah giant and Jewish leader of this generation, warned of the danger to Jewish lives of negotiating Jewish Land. He also explicitly stated that it is forbidden to cede to a non-Jew, even a tiny strip of the Land of Israel. Unfortunately his warnings continue to be unheeded by most of those leading Israel.Less than 48 hours after two of the Rebbe's emissaries were brutally murdered in India for the sole crime of being Jewish, Yechiel Leiter dishonored their memory by speaking of further concessions.Israel needs new leadership that will cling to its heritage and its land in the example of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and his emissaries. On December 8th, Likud voters can choose such a candidate. No, it is not Yechiel Leiter. It is Moshe Feiglin, who will restore Jewish values and Jewish pride to the state of Israel. He will stay true to the Land of Israel (and to the Likud Charter's statement on the Land), the Jewish People, and our Creator. When Moshe Feiglin enters the government in the party which controls the country, he will do everything in his power to move Israel in this direction. A “belief-based” Knesset Member like Feiglin in the Likud party with clear aspirations for the Prime Minister’s office in the near future will set off a revolution of thought throughout Israel that it is possible (and necessary) for Israel to change course, to survive, and to thrive by clinging to its heritage.

MOSCOW, November 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Dmitry Donskoi Typhoon-class strategic nuclear-powered submarine has carried out another test launch of a Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile, a Defense Ministry source said on Friday. The Bulava was launched from a submerged position in the White Sea toward a target located at the Kura test site on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the source said. He later said it had successfully engaged its designated target on the Kamchatka Peninsula about 6,700 kilometers (4,200 miles) east of Moscow. The previous test of the Bulava missile was carried out on September 18. Russia is planning to adopt new Bulava missiles for service with the Navy and commission the first Borey-class strategic nuclear submarine in 2009. The Bulava (SS-NX-30), developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology, is designed for deployment on Borey-class Project 955 nuclear-powered submarines. The first submarine in the series, the Yury Dolgoruky, was built at the Sevmash shipyard in the northern Arkhangelsk Region and is currently undergoing sea trials. The submarine has a length of 170 meters (580 feet), a body diameter of around 13 meters (42 feet), and a submerged speed of about 29 knots. It will be equipped with 16 Bulava ballistic missiles, each carrying up to 10 nuclear warheads and having a range of 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles).

Russian PM Putin signs order to build Baltic Pipeline System-2

MOSCOW, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has signed an instruction on the design and construction of the second stage of the Baltic Pipeline System, the government said on Monday. The Baltic Pipeline System-2 with an estimated cost of 120-130 billion rubles ($4.3-4.7 billion) will run from western Russia's Bryansk Region to the Leningrad Region port of Ust-Luga with a branch going to the Kirishi oil refinery. According to the document, the project will be funded through a long-term ruble-denominated bond issue by pipeline monopoly Transneft. The bonds will be placed through a private offering among state-controlled financial organizations. The Energy Ministry along with the Ministry of Economic Development, the Regional Development Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Federal Tariff Service and state-run VEB bank are to develop a model to fund the project within three months after Transneft has submitted a feasibility study. Construction on BPS-2 is to be launched in 2009 and completed two years later. Oil will start to be transported in late 2012 with an initial pumping capacity of up to 30 million metric tons (220 million bbl), which will subsequently be raised to 50 million tons a year (367 million bbl). The Russian premier earlier proposed that foreign partners use BPS-2 and that they buy shares in BPS-2's terminal at Ust-Luga. The first stage of the Baltic Pipeline System, with a capacity of 12 million tons of oil annually and designed to transport oil from both Russia's oil-rich regions and Kazakhstan, was commissioned in 2001. Its current capacity is 75 million tons. The BPS-2 project emerged during an oil dispute between Russia and Belarus in January 2007, when Russia cut off supplies to Europe for four days via the Druzhba pipeline after Belarus refused to let Russian oil pass through the country without payment of a transit duty.

LONDON (AFP) – Ukraine and Georgia will eventually become NATO members, but they have a long road ahead to meet the entry criteria, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday.She was speaking a day before NATO foreign ministers meet in Brussels, where they are likely to back away from offering the two former Soviet states a fast-track process to join the world's biggest military alliance.Rice also defended NATO's suspension of ties with Russia following its brief war in August with Georgia. Moscow strongly opposes the NATO aspirations of both Georgia and Ukraine.Georgia and Ukraine will be members of NATO, Rice said in a joint press conference in London with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who will also attend the Brussels NATO talks.We believe strongly in NATO's open-door policy that states that are prepared for NATO membership and can assume the responsibilities therein should be welcomed into the organisation.But there is a long road ahead for both Georgia and Ukraine to reach those standards. The United States stands resolutely for those standards, meaning that there should be no shortcuts to membership of NATO.No one wants to see a circumstance in which Ukraine and Georgia are shut out, she said.Meanwhile Rice added that Washington is not opposed to the resumption of ties between the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and Russia, suspended after Russia's occupation of part of Georgia in August.We have in principle no problem with the resumption of our ties between NATO and Russia. Indeed there have been at lower level the resumption of those discussions.It's simply a matter of what is appropriate, and what was appropriate at a time when clearly Russia's behaviour in Georgia was quite contrary to all of the values and principles on which NATO stands.

Mumbai Massacre: Concessions Fuel Global Terror

Last week’s horrific massacre in India claimed the lives of nearly 200 victims including six Israelis brutally murdered. In the aftermath of the attack, outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has once again demonstrated that he steadfastly refuses to fight our enemies except by appeasement and has pledged to release another 250 terrorists.In Mumbai, the terrorists specifically targeted the Chabad House and murdered the beautiful Jews Rabbi and Rebbetzin Holtzberg and their four Jewish visitors. The fact that the government in the Jewish homeland releases terrorists as a goodwill gesture only empowers the terrorists and makes citizens of free countries worldwide susceptible.Olmert’s actions clearly create a situation that could precipitate more attacks globally. Olmert, Foreign Minister Livni, Defense Minister Barak and the other Israeli leaders who all claim to be in the mainstream but are really left-wing extremists advocate rewarding terror with further concessions of Jewish land and by releasing murderers. These leaders, who will do anything to cling to power - except clinging to their Jewish heritage - have already demonstrated that their Land for Peace plans only lead to dead and maimed Jews and the loss in the belief of the justness of our cause by Jews in Israel and worldwide. In order to deflect attention from their lack of interest in Israel’s survival, they attempt to portray Likud candidate for Knesset Moshe Feiglin in a negative light. In actuality Feiglin is the only leader in Israel who has a cogent platform that is in tandem with the stated American goal of fighting and defeating terror. Feiglin opposed (and remains opposed to) the Oslo Accords which rewarded evil by reinventing a mass murderer, Yasser Arafat, as a man of peace and giving him huge sections of Israel – free of Jews - in which most of our Jewish holy sites are located. Oslo resulted in thousands murdered throughout Israel, and suicide bombers then made their way next to U.S. soil on 9/11.
