Palestinian victims describe being used as shields by Hamas
Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. According to the victims, those who tried to object were shot in the legs by Hamas.

Rabbi Dov Zinger, dean of the Mekor Chaim Yeshiva high school in Kfar Etzion, opened a new school year on Monday.However, the rabbi revealed it doesn't feel like a new year, but rather a continued period since two of his students, Naftali Frenkel (16) and Gilad Sha'ar (16) hy''d, were murdered along with Eyal Yifrah (19) hy''d on June 12 by Hamas terrorists.Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Rabbi Zinger noted "to call it 'the start of the (school) year' is strange because we never stopped: we're in the midst of a continuing event like the rest of the people of Israel since that same bitter and hurried Thursday, and from there everything just rolled on.""In a certain sense the whole year has been (the Jewish month of) 'Elul,'" remarked the rabbi in context of the current month, which is considered a time of repentance. "Certainly in the recent period they were days of Elul, and we continue them towards the (Jewish) New Year."Following the abduction of the three, the IDF launched Operation Brother's Keeper to rescue them, an attempt that ended in tragedy 18 days later when their bodies were found just north of Hevron. Shortly thereafter Hamas launched a rocket terror war on Israel, causing Operation Protective Edge."There was a feeling that it was more than a 'regular terror attack' that happened here," recounted the rabbi, even while acknowledging "we didn't know that it would turn into war.""We heard the terrorists on the recording saying 'get your heads down,' and I think that the response of the whole people of Israel was to raise our heads," emphasized the rabbi, referencing the chilling recording of Gilad's emergency call to the police in which the fatal gunshots could be heard.Rabbi Zinger went on to say that the victory over Hamas is the sound of Torah study that could be heard in the background of the interview at the yeshiva."One of the hardest mitzvot (precepts) in the Torah is to choose life, (but for) youths it's even easier...we are tested through them and return to life, to simple life, with the memory in the background, but in the end we make a firm decision to choose life," said the rabbi.The tragedy at the school led Economics Minister Naftali Bennett and MK Shuli Mualem (Jewish Home) to visit the yeshiva on Monday in a show of support.Noting on the attention, Rabbi Zinger commented "in these days we have been exposed to the fact that we aren't a private yeshiva, and that means that we have left the anonymity for a feeling of greater responsibility."A final point the rabbi raised was the steps the yeshiva is taking to commemorate the murdered teens. To this end, she added, Israel needs to get the moderate actors in the region on board with it, and the decision regarding the land “does not help” in this regard.She noted that she supports Israel's retaining the “settlement blocs” in Judea and Samaria, which the Etzion Bloc is part of. A new report has exposed the details of a heated meeting held between Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Qatar-based Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal on August 21 in Doha, in which Mashaal apparently submitted to a ceasefire with Israel.The report was published Monday by the Lebanese Al Akbar news site, as cited by Walla!, and notes Abbas was told by Israel Security Agency (ISA) head Yoram Cohen two weeks before the meeting that his agency and IDF foiled an attempt by Hamas from its Turkey headquarters to stage a coup against Abbas's PA in Judea and Samaria.Abbas's rage over the news reportedly boiled over in the Doha meeting, which was attended by Qatari emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, his foreign minister, senior members of Abbas's Fatah faction including Saeb Erekat and Azzam al-Ahmed, and Hamas deputy politburo chief Mousa Abu Marzouk."I don't want to return to the past," Abbas reportedly told Mashaal, noting on the April PA-Hamas unity deal. "I gave the Qatari emir all the details. "We are setting a national strategy like this: Israel and the US will agree in writing to a Palestinian state on the '67 borders with eastern Jerusalem as it's capital and defined temporary borders.""We'll start immediately with a border outline during a period that will be set in advance, and afterwards we will discuss the topics of a permanent agreement," said Abbas, detailing his plan to press Israel to leave its biblical heartland without any agreement in place.If the US and Israel do not agree, and indeed both have already expressed opposition to the plan, Abbas noted he would stop the security arrangements and all cooperation with Israel, dismantle the PA - a threat made numerous times in the past - and give Israel control over Judea and Samaria."In this way Israel will take on itself responsibility as an occupying state," said Abbas, presenting a move that some estimate would leave Israel vulnerable to an international litigation.It is worth noting that the 2012 Levy Report, which has yet to be adopted by the government, revealed that an Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria is not an "occupation" according to international law.

Dubai is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which reportedly along with Saudi Arabia urged Hamas into the ceasefire by offering massive funds to the terrorist organization.According to the report, the PA delegation head Azzam al-Ahmed will arrive in the Egyptian capital on Sunday night.The Arab sources cited accused Israel of not fulfilling its obligations in the controversial ceasefire deal sealed last Tuesday, claiming Israel promised to open all five Gaza border crossings.However, al-Ahmed revealed last Tuesday that the deal included the immediate easing of restrictions on only the two major Gaza crossings - one of which is managed by Egypt, not Israel - and did not mention all five crossings.Humanitarian goods were to be allowed in immediately; likewise construction materials were agreed to be let in, despite their use in the past in building terror tunnels and rockets. Additionally, the Gaza fishing zone was to be opened to six nautical miles, later to be extended past its previous limits to 12 nautical miles according to al-Ahmed.The renewal of truce talks comes quickly, as in the deal last Tuesday the next round of talks were set vaguely to be held within a month's time.In the upcoming talks the major demands of both sides are to be debated; for Israel the lone demand that has been raised is the disarmament of Gaza.That demand has been flatly rejected, with Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri saying Saturday "our people will not allow it. It is not required to disarm the Palestinian people, but rather to disarm the (Israeli) occupation and to ban the American administration from providing it with the weapons that are used to kill children and women."

Hamas has tried to blackmail Israel through the terror war it launched last month into submitting to several extravagant demands, including a Gaza seaport and airport.Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon last Friday rejected the demand, saying "there is no chance that Hamas will receive a seaport - it is not in Israel's interest, it is not an Egyptian interest, it's not even in the interest of the Palestinian Authority."However, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar declared last Tuesday that his group would build a seaport and airport in Gaza, even without permission. Another issue to be brought up in the truce talks is a terrorist swap Hamas is pushing for, after the terrorist group refused in the deal last Tuesday to return the bodies of IDF soldiers Second Lt. Hadar Goldin and First Sgt. Oron Shaul hy''d, who were killed in the operation.Reportedly Hamas is demanding hundreds of terrorists to be released from Israeli jails in return for the bodies, including those arrested in Operation Brother's Keeper, roughly 60 terrorists who were freed in the 2011 Gilad Shalit deal and later re-arrested, and 37 Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) members, all but two of whom are Hamas members.They further demanded the release of the 26 terrorists promised in the fourth batch of release "gestures" as part of the Israel-PA peace talks, which broke down in April when the PA signed a unity deal with Hamas.

Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. "Certainly in the recent period they were days of Elul, and we continue them towards the (Jewish) New Year."Following the abduction of the three, the IDF launched Operation Brother's Keeper to rescue them, an attempt that ended in tragedy 18 days later when their bodies were found just north of Hevron. "We are setting a national strategy like this: Israel and the US will agree in writing to a Palestinian state on the '67 borders with eastern Jerusalem as it's capital and defined temporary borders.""We'll start immediately with a border outline during a period that will be set in advance, and afterwards we will discuss the topics of a permanent agreement," said Abbas, detailing his plan to press Israel to leave its biblical heartland without any agreement in place.If the US and Israel do not agree, and indeed both have already expressed opposition to the plan, Abbas noted he would stop the security arrangements and all cooperation with Israel, dismantle the PA - a threat made numerous times in the past - and give Israel control over Judea and Samaria."In this way Israel will take on itself responsibility as an occupying state," said Abbas, presenting a move that some estimate would leave Israel vulnerable to an international litigation.It is worth noting that the 2012 Levy Report, which has yet to be adopted by the government, revealed that an Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria is not an "occupation" according to international law.

Truce talks between Israel and the Hamas, Palestinian Authority (PA) and Islamic Jihad delegations in Cairo are to be renewed within the next 48 hours according to reports Sunday morning.The news of renewed ceasefire talks come from Palestinian sources quoted in the Dubai-based newspaper Al Bayan, as cited by Walla!. Dubai is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which reportedly along with Saudi Arabia urged Hamas into the ceasefire by offering massive funds to the terrorist organization.According to the report, the PA delegation head Azzam al-Ahmed will arrive in the Egyptian capital on Sunday night.The Arab sources cited accused Israel of not fulfilling its obligations in the controversial ceasefire deal sealed last Tuesday, claiming Israel promised to open all five Gaza border crossings.However, al-Ahmed revealed last Tuesday that the deal included the immediate easing of restrictions on only the two major Gaza crossings - one of which is managed by Egypt, not Israel - and did not mention all five crossings.Humanitarian goods were to be allowed in immediately; likewise construction materials were agreed to be let in, despite their use in the past in building terror tunnels and rockets. Additionally, the Gaza fishing zone was to be opened to six nautical miles, later to be extended past its previous limits to 12 nautical miles according to al-Ahmed.The renewal of truce talks comes quickly, as in the deal last Tuesday the next round of talks were set vaguely to be held within a month's time.In the upcoming talks the major demands of both sides are to be debated; for Israel the lone demand that has been raised is the disarmament of Gaza.That demand has been flatly rejected, with Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri saying Saturday "our people will not allow it. It is not required to disarm the Palestinian people, but rather to disarm the (Israeli) occupation and to ban the American administration from providing it with the weapons that are used to kill children and women."
A Gaza airport and seaport - with or without permission
Hamas has tried to blackmail Israel through the terror war it launched last month into submitting to several extravagant demands, including a Gaza seaport and airport.Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon last Friday rejected the demand, saying "there is no chance that Hamas will receive a seaport - it is not in Israel's interest, it is not an Egyptian interest, it's not even in the interest of the Palestinian Authority."However, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar declared last Tuesday that his group would build a seaport and airport in Gaza, even without permission. He hinted construction materials brought in to reconstruct Gaza would be used for the projects, which threaten Israel's security by increasing Hamas's ability to smuggle in weapons. Another issue to be brought up in the truce talks is a terrorist swap Hamas is pushing for, after the terrorist group refused in the deal last Tuesday to return the bodies of IDF soldiers Second Lt. Hadar Goldin and First Sgt. Oron Shaul hy''d, who were killed in the operation.Reportedly Hamas is demanding hundreds of terrorists to be released from Israeli jails in return for the bodies, including those arrested in Operation Brother's Keeper, roughly 60 terrorists who were freed in the 2011 Gilad Shalit deal and later re-arrested, and 37 Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) members, all but two of whom are Hamas members.They further demanded the release of the 26 terrorists promised in the fourth batch of release "gestures" as part of the Israel-PA peace talks, which broke down in April when the PA signed a unity deal with Hamas.
