(Trump himself said in September the team would release the plan by January.) But now, Trump’s advisers are one step closer to their self-imposed deadline.A Channel 13 report said Monday that the release would depend on who won the election, but that the White House was aiming for mid-June.From now until then, the White House — if it does in fact release any sort of proposal — will have to respond, in one way or another, to Netanyahu’s election eve promise to annex the settlements of the West Bank.On Saturday, the Israeli premier went on television and promised to extend Israeli sovereignty to all of the settlements, including those outside the main blocs, in a bid to shore up his right-wing base.“I am going to apply Israeli sovereignty, but I don’t distinguish between settlement blocs and isolated settlements,” he said on national television. “From my perspective, each of those settlement points is Israeli. Arab residents of Tamra and Shfaram overwhelmingly lashed out at the Likud party on Tuesday for equipping election observers at polling stations in Arab towns with cameras.Residents of the two towns in the Galilee sharply criticized the ruling party’s scheme in conversations with The Times of Israel, with some calling it “racist.”“Everyone should be subject to the same procedures and protocols,” 32-year-old Mohammed Yassin, a construction worker, said, standing outside the Ibn Sina School in Tamra. “If they want election observers to wear cameras in Arab villages, they ought to make sure the same is done in Jewish towns.”Likud officials told the Kan public broadcaster that party activists were given cameras to collect footage of voting booths in areas that they alleged were at high risk of voter fraud.According to Hebrew media reports, some 1,200 concealed cameras were found at polling stations in Nazareth, Sakhnin, Majd al-Krum, Tamra, Taybe and Rahat, towns with majority Arab populations. The reports said a handful of cameras were also discovered in ultra-Orthodox ballot stations.At the Ibn Sina School, Mohammed Diab, an election observer affiliated with Balad, said he discovered two election observers linked to Likud wearing cameras. It said the plane disappeared from radar about half an hour after taking off from the Misawa air base with three other F-35As for a flight exercise.Japan is one of the few nations, along with Israel, in possession of the American-made advanced stealth fighter jet.Defense Minister Takeshi Iwaya told reporters that a search and rescue operation was underway for the missing jet and its pilot. There's less snow than usual to melt in the mountains this spring. That's the message from hydrologist John Pomeroy, a Canmore-based water expert."It's lower than the normal over most of the mountains," Pomeroy said, in a Monday interview on the Calgary Eyeopener. "That's what we're going to be seeing at this point: lower snowmelt contribution to streams."Pomeroy, the Canada Research Chair in Water Resources and Climate Change, and the director of the Coldwater Laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan, said the explanation for the diminished flows isn't complicated."The amount of precipitation since those snow storms [Oct. 1-3] has been quite a bit lower — about 40 per cent lower than the normal for the mountains," Pomeroy said.Low accumulation-Pomeroy said it was understandable if people felt as if there was more snow, because an event like the Oct. 1-3 Snowmageddon, in which over 30 cm of snow fell in a single day, tends to distort the reality of what was actually a relatively dry winter."A lot of the big snowfalls are down as much as one third — sometimes a little bit less," he said. "There's been fairly low accumulation to those pools and to those high mountain sites since the beginning of February."And while the meagre snowpack does not appear to pose a flood threat to the city, Pomeroy said that doesn't necessarily mean Calgary is out of the weeds just yet."Floods have always been associated with rain in Calgary.
