Chalk up another court victory for Casey Anthony.The Orlando-area mother, who was acquitted in 2011 of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, this week was cleared of defaming a former nanny, who claimed Anthony had destroyed her reputation by suggesting she might be responsible for Caylee Anthony’s 2008 disappearance.In a 20-page ruling, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May threw out allegations former nanny Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez made against Casey Anthony, who has long been rumored to be living in Palm Beach County.At issue was a statement Anthony made in a jail conversation with her mother that was repeated to the media. The statement the “girl down in Kissimmee” even if joined with the word “babysitter” didn’t implicate Fernandez-Gonzalez, May ruled.“There is nothing in the statement … to support (Fernandez-Gonzalez’s) allegations that (Anthony) intended to portray (the nanny) as a child kidnapper and potentially a child killer,” May ruled, in throwing out the defamation claim.The allegations were heard by May because Anthony filed for bankruptcy in 2013, claiming she is roughly $800,000 in debt and wanted to start over. If successful, Fernandez-Gonzalez would have been able to ask that any damages she was awarded could not be erased in bankruptcy court.In the decision, May ruled that because he found no defamation occurred Anthony could discharge Fernandez-Gonalez’s claims as part of the bankruptcy.Since her acquittal, that was greeted by public outrage after the closely-watched televised trial, Anthony has scored other court wins. ORLANDO, Fla. —Attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez said they are watching Casey Anthony closely after reports indicated she is in New York with intents to sell her story.Gonzalez filed a defamation lawsuit in 2008 after Anthony claimed a woman by the same name kidnapped her daughter, Caylee.Anthony was acquitted in 2011 in her child’s murder.Gonzalez’ legal team told WESH 2 that they have not dropped the defamation lawsuit against Anthony and vow to go after any money that she may make.Anthony succeeded in discharging more than $700,000 in debt in federal bankruptcy court.“The defamation claim was not wiped away when Casey Anthony filed for bankruptcy,” Gonzalez’ attorney Matt Morgan said.Court records show the defamation case has not had a new filing since a motion to dismiss the case was denied in December 2013, but that may change amidst published reports that Anthony is in New York with a publicist to sell a tell-all interview.“I was not surprised by this. We were waiting for her to cash in on this case,” Morgan said.Even if Anthony does succeed in selling an interview, which no media outlet has been willing to pay for since her murder acquittal, Morgan said he knows that payment could be funneled through a variety of sources, making the money trail as difficult to find as Anthony herself.“That will not dampen our enthusiasm to collect. We will stay the course and ensure everything is done to hold Casey Anthony accountable in this claim,” Morgan said.In May, Anthony was photographed in public for the first time in two years.
