Court Rules Yehuda Glick Can Visit the Temple Mount-Jerusalem court accepts Temple Mount activist's appeal against police ban - but imposes severe restrictions.By Ari Soffer-First Publish: 5/5/2015, 6:34 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday accepted an appeal by veteran Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick over his indefinite ban on visiting the Temple Mount. However, Glick's latest hard-fought legal victory came with several conditions. For one, the court accepted a petition by police to ban him from bringing a camera or smartphone onto the holy site. In addition, the court ordered police to facilitate just one visit per month for Glick, who is still recovering from an assassination attempt by an Islamist terrorist last year. The date and time of that visit will be determined exclusively by the police, who will notify Glick 24 hours in advance.Glick's appeal was launched in response to a police ban on him visiting the Temple Mount at all until the end of a pending case lodged against him by a Muslim woman who claimed he pushed her while visiting the site. For his part Glick says the woman - who is one of a large number of female Islamist activists who regularly harass Jewish visitors at the site - simply tripped and fell as she was harassing his group, and blamed him without any basis. In his appeal, Glick challenged police claims that he could pose a threat to Muslim worshippers if he visited, saying that if that was the case he would even agree to go up while tied up and pushed along in a wheelchair. In its ruling, the court stated that Glick is prohibited "from possessing a smartphone or camera at the time of his visit, in order to prevent him from provoking the Muslim community as the police claim he did during the incident" in which the Muslim woman fell. The court also explicitly forbade Glick from "reading anything at all aloud" to anyone on the Temple Mount.During the hearing police cited "classified" evidence which they said proved that allowing Glick to visit at all constituted a "danger to the public." But Glick's attorney Yitzhak Bam noted that claim was based on concerns Muslim extremists could riot due to his client's presence on the Mount, and responded by stating that it was the police's duty to preserve law and order in such an eventuality - not to ban his client.Responding to the ruling, Glick praised the court "for accepting my basic claim that the police's duty is to protect the public, and that it is not acceptable that the police should punish the victim of violence because of a threat from the violent perpetrators." However, he also expressed his disappointment in the severe restrictions placed upon his visits."The (court's) decision is far appropriate given that we are talking about permitting one visit per month to a person who is used to visiting 2-3 times a day," said Glick, who until his ban worked as a tour guide at the site.Furthermore, he noted, the rationale for those restrictions was that "Arab violence is the result of the behavior of Jews and not the initiatives of terrorists, as revealed by security sources."Despite being the holiest site in Judaism - and in spite of numerous court rulings for free access to Jewish visitors - police currently maintain severe restrictions on Jewish visits to the Temple Mount, including a blanket ban on prayer or worship of any sort, in order to appease Muslim groups who have threatened violence should Jews or other non-Muslims be allowed to pray.Yehuda Glick has been among the most prominent Jewish campaigners against those police measures - earning him the wrath of both the police and Muslim extremists, the latter of which culminated in his attempted murder last year.

U.S. senator says sees Iran nuclear bill vote as soon as Thursday-Reuters-MAY 5,15-YAHOONEWS

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker said on Tuesday that he sees an "overwhelming" vote to pass the Iran nuclear review bill as soon as Thursday.
Corker, a Republican, told reporters at the U.S. Capitol that leaders were still working out a way to allow the Senate to consider amendments to the bill, which would allow Congress to review an international nuclear agreement with Tehran before most sanctions on Iran could be waived."My sense is that Thursday there's a very good chance that we'll have an overwhelming vote," Corker said.A dispute among Republican senators over amendments last week left Senate leaders scrambling for a way to move forward with the legislation, which was approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by a 19-0 vote. All 67 proposed amendments to the bill have been offered by Republicans.(Reporting by Patricia Zengerle; additional reporting by Emily Stephenson; editing by Sandra Maler)

Bennett Demands: Justice Ministry or Opposition-Bennett in last minute demand that Shaked be made justice minister; Likud sources say 'lust for portfolios canceling right-wing govt.'By Ido Ben-Porat, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 5/5/2015, 8:22 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
As coalition talks go down to the wire ahead of a Wednesday deadline, Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett delivered an ultimatum to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, demanding that MK Ayelet Shaked of his party be named justice minister. If the demand is not met, Bennett threatened to go to the Opposition, leaving Likud short of the required 61 MKs needed to create a coalition majority.Bennett made an additional demand according to Channel 2, asking that Shaked be inducted as justice minister as soon as next week out of an apparent concern that the law may be changed to increase the number of ministers beyond the current limitation of 18.Likud had already reportedly agreed to Shaked being named as culture and sport minister as part of a proposed coalition agreement, but Jewish Home is apparently trying to press for additional portfolios.Likud tried throughout the day on Tuesday to contact Bennett after the minister went "under the radar" and switched his cell phone to airplane mode. The reason for Bennett's last minute cutting off of contact is his anger that the haredi parties Shas and United Torah Judaism were given control of the Religious Affairs Ministry and the rabbinical courts in the coalition deals they signed.Regarding the justice ministry, reports have indicated that after Avigdor Liberman announced his Yisrael Beytenu party will not join the coalition, Likud responded to Bennett's demand for the foreign portfolio by offering him to be the justice minister instead of the education minister as had been agreed."Lust for portfolios harming the right-wing"Sources close to Netanyahu voiced their opposition to Bennett's last minute demands."We won't give the justice portfolio," they said. "The right-wing will never forgive Bennett if he knocks over a right-wing government due to a lust for portfolios."The remark refers to appraisals that Netanyahu may form a unity government with the leftist Zionist Union party comprised of Labor and Hatnua if Jewish Home does not sign a coalition deal with it.Netanyahu has until Wednesday night to inform President Reuven Rivlin if he was able to form a coalition or not, and if he was successful, he will have a week to swear in the next coalition government.Bennett's demand comes after Dani Dayan, the former head of the Yesha Council and a candidate on the Jewish Home list who removed his candidacy after getting an unrealistic spot in primaries, urged the party to sign a coalition deal with Likud on Tuesday."In the situation we've encountered today there's nothing to be done but to regain one's composure, to drink a glass of water, and to sign on the coalition agreement," Dayan said of Jewish Home in an interview on Army Radio.Dayan criticized Jewish Home for waiting until the last minute to sign a coalition deal in an attempt to squeeze out additional portfolios for its members."It cannot be that Jewish Home makes the establishment of the government fail," he said.On his Twitter account, Dayan wrote later, "I thank G-d that I wasn't selected there (in Jewish Home primaries - ed.) and I don't have to in these very days stand in the dilemma between my conscience and my faction."

Israel to purchase $310m worth of parts for next gen APCs-IDF to equip new personnel carriers with advanced missile interception system following conclusions from summer war-By Adiv Sterman May 5, 2015, 4:23 pm 1-THE TIMES OF ISRAEL

The Defense Ministry this week signed an multi-million dollar agreement with US company GD (General Dynamics) to acquire the mechanical parts needed to assemble state-of-the-art armored personnel carriers. The move was based on conclusions by the security establishment following last summer’s war between Israel and Gaza-based terrorist group Hamas, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday. The parts for the Namer, an APC built on the frame of the Merkava tank, will be delivered over the next six years and are valued at a total of $310 million. GD has already begun supplying the Defense Ministry with Namer engine parts as part of an earlier $250 million contract.According to the ministry, all new Namer APCs will be equipped with the Israeli-developed Armored Shield Protection system, known as the “Windbreaker,” which is considered one of the most advanced countermeasure technological systems in military use. The “Windbreaker” is the product of a ten-year collaborative development project between Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and the Israel Aircraft Industries’ Elta Group, and is specifically designed to intercept and destroy incoming missiles and rockets in real time. While army officials said Namer APCs were highly successful during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, resisting bomb blasts and saving many soldiers’ lives, too few of the vehicles were available to infantry units. “The only issue is funding,” Brig. Gen. Baruch Mazliach, head of the Defense Ministry’s Namer and Merkava department, told Channel 2 News last year. “We can construct dozens of vehicles a year.”The ministry estimated that renewed construction of Namer APCs would benefit up to 10,000 Israeli workers employed in various fields connected with the project. According to the ministry, Israel exports approximately $700 million worth of tank and APC parts annually, adding that for every one dollar spent on the Namer APC, local companies are expected receive four dollars in return.During the summer’s war last year, a group of 30 IDF reserve soldiers notified their commanders that they would refuse to enter the Gaza Strip in M-113 armored personnel carriers, military vehicles designed by the US Army in the 1960s and first used during the Vietnam War. The reservists’ plea came several days after a deadly battle in the Gaza neighborhood of Shejaiya during which Hamas fighters fired a missile at an M-113 carrier, resulting in the deaths of seven IDF soldiers on board.Following the battle in Shejaiya, Maj. Gen. Sami Turgeman, the commander of the IDF Southern Command, said that the army was aware of the M-113’s faults but did not have the means to provide full protection to every soldier entering the Strip.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report

Obama administration has 'designed and deployed the weapon that has the ability to deal with Iran’s nuclear program,' secretary tells Israeli TV-In assuring Israel on Iran, Kerry references upgraded bunker-buster-Newly improved 30,000-pound bomb that can take out nuclear site has not been provided to IDF-By Mitch Ginsburg May 4, 2015, 10:25 pm-THE TIMES OF ISRAEL

Secretary of State John Kerry raised the specter of using a 30,000-pound (13,600-kg) bunker-buster bomb  against Iran’s nuclear program in an interview aired this week, during an attempt to reassure Israelis that America had its back against Tehran, even if it means preemptive military action.People in Israel should have some confidence in an “administration that designed and deployed the weapon that has the ability to deal with Iran’s nuclear program,” Kerry told Channel 10, adding that his is “an administration, a government, a country that will stand by Israel way into the future.”The weapon he was referring to, the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, or MOP, is a 30,000-pound bomb that was made operational in 2011 and recently redesigned in terms of guidance and penetration. The massive weapon has not been offered to Israel for purchase. The US Department of Defense invested $330 million to develop 20 of the bombs and requested an additional $82 million to enhance their efficacy, the Wall Street Journal reported in 2012.In April the Journal reported that the upgraded bomb was tested in mid-January, when it was dropped from a B-2 bomber that took off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The successful test showed a massive bomb that could be guided much like smaller precision weapons and was upgraded with electronic countermeasures that protect it from potential Iranian jamming, which could otherwise be used to steer incoming weaponry off target. The US officials, who were reportedly not involved in the administration’s negotiations with Iran, told the Wall Street Journal that the bombs, if used, would have a devastating effect never before seen by a non-nuclear weapon. The bombs are designed to be released in pairs, with the first burrowing through the layers of rock and steel that protect underground nuclear facilities like the one in Fordo, Iran, and the second to follow immediately on its heels and destroy the target. The Journal reported that Pentagon officials have shared details about the bomb with Israeli counterparts, and have “shown them videos of the weapon hitting a target during testing.”The videos reportedly showed a deep bunker utterly destroyed by a precision-guided bomb.“The Pentagon,” officials told the Journal, “continues to be focused on being able to provide military options for Iran if needed,” and stressed that “if you say all options are on the table, you have to have something on the table that’s credible.”Kerry, in the Israeli television interview, seemed to be indicating that the threat of US military action still hovers over the negotiations and acts as a stick to prevent future Iranian violations of any would-be agreement.Official Israel, which was chastised for its preemptive action against Saddam Hussein’s nuclear reactor in 1981, and which witnessed the US’s unwillingness to act in order to thwart North Korea and Syria, remains unconvinced that the emerging deal will thwart Iran’s nuclear drive to nuclear weapons, though Kerry said he could “guarantee” this was the case.“Now there are those who say that the Lausanne framework will make Israel safer,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video address to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy on Friday. “As the prime minister of Israel, I can tell you categorically this deal will endanger Israel — big time.”

N. Korea Submarine Missile Allows Covert Nuclear Strike on US-Regime tests nuclear-capable missile from underwater for first time, as officials blame Obama for allowing 'tragedy.'By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 5/5/2015, 5:55 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

In a worrying step showing North Korea's rapidly expanding nuclear strike capabilities, the Communist regime recently held a test of a new submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), the first time it has launched a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead from underwater.According to US defense officials cited by the Washington Free Beacon on Tuesday, the test took place on April 22 from an underwater test platform near the coastal city of Sinpo in the southeast of the country, and tested what the US is calling a KN-11 missile. The test appears to have been successful, and is the third KN-11 test showing the high-priority of the nuclear missile program for North Korea. Previous tests in January and last October were from a sea-based platform not underwater and a land-based platform. The KN-11 joins the KN-08 mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) as being part of a varied North Korean missile arsenal on platforms that would be hard for the US to detect, and consequently allow a strike that would be difficult to shoot down.Admiral Bill Gortney, Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command, admitted last month that North Korea could hit the continental US with a nuclear strike. That admission accompanied the announcement that NORAD is reopening its nuclear-EMP-proof Cheyenne Mountain bunker, apparently amid renewed concerns of an EMP attack by which a nuclear weapon would be detonated over the US, knocking out all of its electronic devices, and thereby rendering it defenseless to secondary nuclear strikes. The latest launch test also comes after Chinese experts warned the US last month that American estimates are wrong and North Korea actually has 20 nuclear weapons, with that arsenal to double next year thanks to the regime's higher than anticipated advanced enrichment capabilities.Nuclear strikes the US won't see coming-Admiral Cecil D. Haney, commander of the Strategic Command, confirmed the SLBM launch test in comments to the Senate on March 19, reports the Washington Free Beacon. The program is in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.Regarding the UN, it was reported last month that US President Barack Obama hid intel from the UN about North Korea transferring rocket components needed to create a nuclear missile to Iran even during the nuclear talks, to try and prevent the UN from acting on the information with increased sanctions.Former US Defense Intelligence Agency official Bruce Bechtol, Jr. told the paper that North Korea's SLBM program is meant to give it the ability to strike the US, and to not have the strike be detected in advance."With an SLBM they get both," said Bechtol. "The submarine can get the platform to launch the missile within range of the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii. Thus, once operational, this immediately brings key nodes in the United States within range of what would likely be a nuclear armed missile."He noted that once the KN-11 and mobile KN-08 "systems go operational, it potentially gives North Korea a dual threat for attacking the United States with nuclear or chemical weapons - a threat generated from difficult to detect mobile platforms on both land and sea."Obama is bringing the US to "tragedy"A number of American officials responded sharply to the KN-11 test, placing the blame squarely on Obama's shoulders."This missile, along with the KN-08, happened on Obama’s watch and nothing has been done," one US intelligence official told the Washington Free Beacon.Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton added his criticism, saying, "by utterly ignoring North Korea’s growing missile threats, Obama has allowed the threat of rogue state proliferators to fall out of the center of the national political debate.""This is a potential tragedy for the country," Bolton warned.Air Force Lt. Gen. (ret.) Thomas McInerney said that the KN-08 and KN-11 programs constitute "threats to the continental United States and have been developed under the Obama administration’s leadership.""  Leading from behind is a failed strategy as evidenced by this very dangerous strategic threat to the continental United States of nuclear attack by a very unstable North Korean government," said McInerney. The general also spoke about Obama's admission that the nuclear deal being formed with Iran will allow it to obtain a nuclear weapon in under 15 years if it doesn't breach conditions and obtain it sooner, noting that the deal "puts the United States in the most dangerous threat of nuclear attack since the height of the Cold War but from multiple threats - North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran."Opponents of the nuclear deal being formulated with Iran ahead of a June 30 deadline have warned it follows in the footsteps of the failed deal sealed by then-President Bill Clinton with North Korea in 1994.Despite the deal, North Korea tested its first nuclear weapon in 2006, just over ten years after the agreement.
