Russia responded negatively, Monday, to the announcement by Israel that it will invite bids to build nearly 1,200 homes in Judea, Samaria (Shomron) and part of Jerusalem beyond the 1949 Armistice line, according to Agence France Presse, which cited the Russian foreign ministry as saying Moscow was "seriously concerned" by the move.A Russian ministry statement said, "The announcement of such plans on the eve of a new round of negotiations due to be held in Jerusalem on August 14 ... is a counterproductive step that complicates the atmosphere of the talks."
The European Union has denounced the proposal for construction in Judea and Samaria and parts of Jerusalem beyond the 1949 Armistice Line.
The EU insisted on Monday that Israel and the Palestinian Authority should "avoid any actions which would halt negotiations," according to AFP.Michael Mann, spokesman for EU foreign affairs head Catherine Ashton, responded to the announcement for new housing tenders at a news briefing:"Israeli settlements in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] are illegal under international law and threaten to make a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict impossible."Recently, the EU issued a directive boycotting Jewish businesses of Judea and Samaria, Eastern Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights, regions which are beyond the 1949 cease-fire line.The Israeli government disputes claims that Jewish communities in those areas are "illegal."
Following the EU directive, one thousand legal experts from Israel and around the world submitted a letter to European Union Foreign Affairs Commissioner Catherine Ashton, refuting claims of illegality and calling on her to annul the EU's plan.More recently President Peres urged the EU to freeze its boycott during upcoming talks in Jerusalem. Peres says the European Union’s support will help bring peace.In the statement made earlier today, Michael Mann stressed that both sides need to show a "sustained willingness to engage in good faith" if the latest talks are to produce "tangible and timely progress."

has sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and to each
minister in his government urging them to cancel their decision to
release terrorists as a “gesture” to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The rabbis warned that the government is stepping into a trap “with open eyes.”“Out of all the deplorable and dangerous moves that governments in Israel carried out in the past to start a so called 'peace process' the current move is the most dangerous of them,” the RCP wrote.“Today there is absolutely no expert or pundit who thinks that [PA head Mahmoud Abbas] is serious about peace with Israel, they know he has no control over the Arab street. 'In a final resolution, in the new Palestinian state we would not see the presence of a single Israeli,' he told Egyptian journalists last week. Does he sound like a man seeking peace with Israel?
“It should be clear,” the RCP wrote, “that the Palestinian Authority has no intention of making peace. It only wants to get concessions and blame Israel for an absence of peace. It knows that the Obama Administration will never punish it if it balks but probably will only offer it more. evening and approved the release of 26 terrorists as part of a gesture
to the Palestinian Authority, in order to get it to resume peace talks with Israel.In addition
to Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Science and Technology Minister Yaakov
Perry and Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitch, the meeting
was also attended by the head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet),
the Commissioner of the Israel
Prisons Service (IPS), representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the
IDF and other officials. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu did not
attend as he was recovering at home from his emergency hernia surgery.The names of the terrorists to be released will be published on the IPS website, www.ips.gov.il, on Sunday night.14 of the
terrorists to be released will be exiled to Gaza, and the remaining 12
will be transferred to PA-assigned areas of Judea and Samaria. Eight of
the terrorists on the list were to be released over the next three years, two of them in the coming six months.
Netanyahu's office said that the terrorists will be released about 48 hours after the publication of the list. It was emphasized that if one of the terrorists resumes hostile activity against the State of Israel after his release, he will be returned to prison to continue serving his sentence.Earlier on Sunday, families of victims of terrorism marched through Jerusalem in a protest against the government’s plan to approve the release of 26 terrorists.They marched from the central memorial for
terrorism victims, located in Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, to the Supreme

terrorists 23 years ago, are enraged with the government's decision to
set free 104 terrorist murderers, as a “gesture” to the Palestinian

The pained and grief-stricken parents say they cannot understand the government's decision.“How can you release a murderer who stabbed an innocent Jewish youth 17 times, in the heart of Jerusalem? These are animals, not human beings,” cried Miriam.Miriam was not allowed to speak at the Jerusalem court hearing Sunday that discussed a motion to stop the release from taking place. Nonetheless, she called out to the judges: “These people murdered my son and his friend. Murdered by stabbing, with unbelievable cruelty. We trusted the court, that these murderers would rot in jail, and here you are, allowing their release and not even agreeing to hear us.”On August 4, 1990, Lior left his home at Kiryat Yovel with his friend, Ronen Levi Karamani. The two were supposed to meet a friend at Givat Ze'ev, in northern Jerusalem. Another friend took them in his car to the bridge at the neighborhood of Ramot. When they failed to show up at the meeting, the friend phoned the Tubuls and the search for the two began.It turned out that a car with three terrorists inside it took the two from the bridge. The terrorists threatened the two, tied them up and then stabbed them in numerous parts of their body. Their bodies were found in a wadi between Beit Hanina and Ramot, two days later. remain even one day in a government that releases cruel terrorists and
is prepared to negotiate with its enemies and murderers on the borders
of Israel.“You are not doing a favor to the Jewish nation by adding more
apartments in Judea and Samaria because by remaining in a government
that advances such dangerous policies you are stabbing the settlers in
the back. Besides, there is no guarantee that you in fact will get these
housing units following the international outcry against it.“We pray and hope that the government of Israel will come to their
senses the last minute and refrain from carrying out such an absurd
policy. The Netanyahu government still has time to regret its life
threatening decision and safeguard the security of the Jewish people in their land.”

Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and will hold discussions on regional
cooperation and strengthening military ties between Israel and the US.Last week, Gen. Mark Welsh, the chief of staff of the US Air Force, completed a secret visit to Israel
that was only reported after he had left the country. Welsh was in
Israel August 4 to 8 as the guest of the commander of the Israeli Air
Force, Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel. During his visit, Welsh met with senior
officers and defense personnel, including Gantz, and was hosted at air
force bases throughout the country.With at least some Lebanese Hezbollah forces
tied down in the fighting in Syria, and the organization experiencing
political blowback in Lebanon for its support of the Assad regime, the
US may be concerned that Israeli leaders believe the cost of an Iran
strike — especially in terms of rocket strikes on Israeli cities from
across the border — has dropped.Earlier this month, Netanyahu upped his rhetoric against Iran’s nuclear program, citing Iranian President Hasan Rouhani’s anti-Israel oratory as proof of his hawkish views.“Two days ago, the president of Iran said that
