A riot broke out early Thursday morning as Arab men burned tires
and threw stones at Israeli worshippers gathered at Joseph’s tomb in
Shechem, reported Ma’an, a news agency based in the Palestinian

Israeli forces escorted buses loaded with Jewish worshippers to the site at midnight and continued to provide security for them until prayers concluded early this morning.The report stated that “dozens of young Palestinian men” pelted the Israelis with stones. In response, the IDF soldiers dispersed the violent mob with tear gas canisters and stun grenades. No injuries were reported. During the night, Ma’an claims that dozens of Israeli military vehicles raided several neighborhoods in Shechem searching for the perpetrators, but that no arrests were reported.Under previous agreements with the PA, Israeli worshippers are supposed to have free access to religious sites under PA control. In reality, however, this is not the case, as Jews wishing to visit religious sites under PA jurisdiction are usually forced to do so under armed guard, as a result of regular attacks by Muslim extremists.In 2000, immediately after Israeli forces handed over control of Shechem to the PA, Arab mobs attacked Joseph's Tomb, ransacking it and desecrating holy items. Rabbi Hillel Lieberman, a dual citizen of the U.S and Israel, was murdered after heading to the site in an attempt to salvage some of the holy items, including the Torah scroll and the Jewish books. PA policemen also murdered yeshiva student Ben Yosef Livnat at Joseph's Tomb and wounded four other Jews in an attack in 2011. Ben Yosef was the nephew of Minister Limor Livnat, who said, "He was murdered simply because he was Jewish."

Prominent among the “collateral damage” victims of the ongoing violence in Egypt
are the country's Coptic Christians. Living on the tentative goodwill
of the Muslim majority even during the best of times, the community has
been the subject of attacks and persecution over the past year, since
the fall of Hosni Mubarak, and the subsequent fall of Mohammed Morsi.Now, with the crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood members by the Egyptian
army, Islamist fanatics are taking out their frustrations on Coptic
Christians. In the past few days, there has been a spate of attacks on
Christian businesses, homes,
and churches. As of Wednesday morning, according to local witnesses, at
least 18 churches had been destroyed, and fires and riots were
continuing to spread in Christian areas, the witnesses said.Much of the information about what is going on in Egypt is coming
from social media, where admittedly some of the information could be
biased, as anyone can post information that suits their agenda. But if
correct, the reports paint a picture of total devastation of the
community, with little to no protection provided by authorities to
churches.Using the hashtag #EgyChurch, Egyptian users of Twitter and other social networks broadcast messages like “Can't keep up with the number of churches, Christian businesses, and affiliates
being attacked by 'peaceful' Muslim Brotherhood,” “It's clear the Copts
are having their churches burnt,” and “This is quickly becoming the
worst sectarian catastrophe we've seen in our lifetimes.”Posters decried the lack of government intervention – with some
implying that the army was permitting the rioting in order to settle
scores with the Coptic community – as well as the utter lack of coverage
of the rioting by the Western media.Dramatic photos showed churches on fire, with smoke billowing out of
buildings and people trying to escape blazes taking refuge on rooftops.
In one image, a group of long-cloaked Muslims stand in front of a
church, arms linked, in order to prevent Muslim Brotherhood rioters from
approaching the building.The army has not issued a comment on the matter.U.S. officials have condemned the violence in Egypt, but have not

At least 20 people have been killed by a large explosion in a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, with at least 30 reported wounded.
Lebanon's Daily Star reported that the blast took place on the main road between Rwais and Bir al-Abed. Hundreds of Dead Fish Found in Pond at National Mall

Approximately 1,000 dead fish have been found floating in a pond at the National Mall, the National Park Service has confirmed.A Park Service crew will test the water and algae levels at the Constitution Gardens pond Thursday.However, the number is not unusual
for that pond, officials said, due to the construction and design of the
area. The Park Service said it's long stressed the importance of
redesigning the pond to maintain a better ecological balance.The pond is at the top of the list for construction upgrades.It could take several days to determine the cause of the incident.Constitution Gardens is located in
West Potomac Park, near Constitution Avenue and 17th Street NW. In
addition to the pond, it also includes a memorial to the 56 signers of
the Declaration of Independence, and several walkways and benches.

Lebanon's Daily Star reported that the blast took place on the main road between Rwais and Bir al-Abed. The neighborhood is a stronghold of Hezbollah.Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel confirmed that the blast was the result of car bomb.TV footage showed dozens of residents screaming and fleeing the scene of carnage with dozens of cars in flames.Emergency response teams rushed to the scene as thick plumes of smoke filled the sky.Over 50 people were wounded in Bir al-Abed on July 9 when a car bomb exploded, in an attack widely seen as revenge against Hezbollah for its role in the civil war in Syria.
