Myrtle Beach, S.C., has brought the beach to Charlotte, N.C., this
week for the 2012 Democratic National Convention. A 15-ton sand
sculpture of President Obama is on display outside Blackfinn Saloon in
the EpiCentre.Does this mean South Carolina, typically a red state, is turning
blue? Not so fast, Dems. This is about tourism, not party politics.“We’re a bipartisan beach with a big dose of Southern hospitality and
believe that once elections are over in November, everyone that has
been on the campaign trail should come take a fun and affordable beach
vacation with us just a little further south,” Brad Dean, president of
the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said in a news
release. “With white, sandy beaches, more than 100 championship golf
courses, and thousands of restaurants and attractions, what’s not to
love?”
Charlotte is 175 miles from Myrtle Beach and an important feeder city for the popular beach resort. An estimated 1.3 million people from Charlotte visited Myrtle Bach in 2011.The sculpture is made completely of South Carolina sand and took five sculptors of Sarasota, Fla.-based “Team Sandtastic” three days to complete.

24 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
4 Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
5 And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
6 I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
7 And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

A souvenir calendar sold by a vendor in Charlotte, North Carolina, includes a page that appears to compare Barack Obama to Jesus Christ, Jim Hoft reported at the Gateway Pundit on Monday.The August 2013 page of the "Keep the Dream Alive" calendar shows a birth certificate and a picture of Barack Obama. Superimposed on the picture is "Heaven Sent," followed by the Bible verse from John 3:16:
According to Slate's David Weigel, the calendar is the brainchild of James Hickman.
The January page shows a picture of the Obamas dancing and is captioned, "Honey, we did it again."
March shows Obama with his dog, standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
"From the past to the present," the page reads.
Hoft says that a video accompanies the calendar and supposedly highlights Obama's accomplishments.
The video starts with Obama singing, and shows important historic dates, like the day "Dreams of my Father" was published, and the date of Obama's first presidential debate.
This is not the first time Obama has been elevated to the status of deity. In November 2010, Newsweek dubbed him "god of all things," and the magazine used religious imagery to paint him as a progressive holy man after he reverted to his 1996 position on gay marriage.
