Congress is set to give the green light on funding for a massive expansion of TSA checkpoints, with the federal agency already responsible for over 9,000 such checkpoints in the last year amidst increased fears America is turning into a police state following the passage of the indefinite detention bill.The increase in funding has nothing to do with the TSA’s role in airports – this is about creating 12 more VIPR teams to add the federal agency’s 25 units that are already scattered across the country and responsible for manning checkpoints on highways, in bus and train terminals, at sports events and even high school prom nights.The TSA’s 25 viper teams — for Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response — have run more than 9,300 unannounced checkpoints and other search operations in the last year. Department of Homeland Security officials have asked Congress for funding to add 12 more teams next year,reports the L.A. Times.The demand for $24 million in extra funding is in addition to the $110 million spent in fiscal year 2011. The figures are completely independent from the federal agency’s role inside the nation’s airports, which costs taxpayers $5 billion a year.The extra money is being demanded despite the fact that there is no proof that the roving viper teams have foiled any terrorist plots or thwarted any major threat to public safety,according to the L.A. Times report, which also highlights how the TSA’s sniffer dogs are used to single out people for questioning if the dog smells the scent of the owner’s pets on their clothing.The appearance of thousands more checkpoints on America’s highways and at key transport hubs will only heighten concerns that the country is headed towards a Soviet-style police state.Such fears were again expressed last week following the passage of the National Authorization Defense Act, a provision of which empowers the government to arrest Americans and hold them in a detention camp with no legal recourse.

With the federal government now seeking contractors to provide staff and supplies for emergency camps located around the country, the possibility of innocent Americans being swept up in a dragnet following a declaration of a national emergency has never been more of a threat.The TSA is being used as a literal occupying army to ensure Americans who travel anywhere are constantly under the scrutiny of Big Brother.Back in October we reported on how Tennessee’s Homeland Security Commissioner announced that a raft of new security checkpoints would be in place over the Halloween period to keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters.Earlier that same month it was announced that Transportation Security Administration officials would be manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee targeting truck drivers.
After public outrage, the TSA attempted to neutralize the controversy by claiming that the inspections were carried out by State Troopers (the TSA agents were there to try to recruit truck drivers into becoming snitches for the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign), and that the checkpoints were merely temporary.In reality, the program was the latest phase of the TSA’s rapidly expanding VIPR program, under which TSA agents have been deployed to shake down Americans at everywhere from bus depots, to ferry terminals, to train stations, in one instance conducting pat downs of passengers, including children, who had already completed their journey when arriving in Savannah.

But don’t let the bureaucratic language fool you. This is really a Martial Law document. FEMA is not interested in emergency preparedness, but in establishing a military dictatorship in the United States.

Franco-Turkish relations hit new low on genocide bill

BRUSSELS - Turkey has imposed sanctions against France in reaction to a draft law on the Armenian genocide that could see the Turkish Prime Minister put in prison unless he claimed diplomatic immunity.The measures comprise a freeze on bilateral meetings on foreign and defence policy; cancelling a ministerial-level meeting on the economy in January 2012; forcing French military jets to seek permission each time they enter Turkish airspace; and a ban on French naval vessels in Turkish ports. Ankara also recalled its ambassador to Paris.Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a press conference on Thursday (22 December) said the measures are just the first phase of his response.He called the bill an irreparable wound on bilateral relations and accused French leader Nicolas Sarkozy of racism, discrimination, xenophobia.He added: There is no such genocide in history. We are proud of our history.French MPs earlier the same day by a show of hands voted through a bill put forward by Valerie Boyer from Sarkozy's centre-right UMP party.The draft law - which must be approved by the Senate and signed by Sarkozy before it enters into force - says anybody guilty of making public statements which amount to a denial of gross trivialisation of the Armenian genocide or the Holocaust can be put in prison for one year or fined €45,000.A spokesman for the French parliament told EUobserver that Erdogan's remarks would make him liable for the penalty if he entered France without claiming diplomatic immunity.

EU slams Hungary for power-grab on central bank

BRUSSELS - The European Central Bank (ECB) on Thursday (22 December) lashed out at the Hungarian government over plans to seize control of its central bank, the latest in a series of power-grabs by the ruling party amid worsening economic conditions and downgrades to 'junk' territory by two major ratings agencies.Enforcing the current draft law on the central bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) could undermine [its] independence, the ECB said in a statement, focusing on a provision which would increase the number of deputy governors, effectively giving the government a say in the setting of interest rates.Merging the central bank with the country's financial supervisory authority and creating a new institution, as envisaged in a second draft bill would also affect the personal independence of the central bank's governor, the ECB warned.The draft laws have already drawn criticism from the EU commission and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), whose negotiating team last week broke off talks on a precautionary loan in protest over the envisaged legislative changes.The centre-right Fidesz party of Prime Minister Viktor Orban enjoys a super-majority in the parliament able to pass constitutional changes or any other legislative moves it wants.Orban is at odds with the governor of the central bank, as the financial institution has boosted interest rates to record highs, reaching seven percent on Tuesday - the highest in the EU. This puts the squeeze both on the government and the private sector, where most of the mortgages have been taken out in euros and Swiss francs, while the forint is depreciating rapidly.In addition, the Hungarian central bank on Thursday warned that the government is likely to miss its deficit target for 2012, estimating that the shortfall will be more like 3.7 percent of gross domestic product compared to the goal of 2.5 percent.Last week, EU commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso sent a letter to Orban warning that the two bills are in breach of EU law and strongly advised him to withdraw them from parliament.

Since the IMF walk-out, the Hungarian government's repayment capacity was downgraded to junk by Standard and Poor's, after Moody's - another major ratings agency - did the the same in November. Both have projected a negative outlook for the country's economy, forecast to have the highest debt level and slowest economic growth among the EU's eastern members next year.Informal discussions on an IMF loan will resume in January, an EU commission spokesman said Thursday.In a separate row, EU justice and fundamental rights commissioner Viviane Reding has also sent a letter to Orban's cabinet regarding data protection issues and age discrimination, after the government changed the retirement age for judges.Earlier this year, just as Hungary was taking over the rotating EU presidency, the Orban government made headlines with a so-called media-gagging law, fiercely criticised by the EU Parliament and commission.Under Brussels pressure, the Hungarian government revised some of the most controversial provisions, but human rights watchdogs such as the Council of Europe say the changes were cosmetic.

Banks queue up for cheap ECB loans

BRUSSELS - Over 500 European banks rushed to borrow almost half a trillion euro in cheap loans from the ECB on Wednesday (21 December), highlighting the credit squeeze on the market and only marginally increasing investor confidence that the central bank is mastering the euro-crisis.The price in gold dropped slightly on Thursday morning and markets went up by an average of one percent in response to the cash injection, as 523 banks took a record of €489.2 billion at an interest rate of just one percent over three years - an emergency programme initiated by the European Central Bank.So far, only short-term loans for up to a year benefited from these low rates. But the ECB decided to extend the period with many European banks heavily exposed to government bonds from troubled eurozone countries. This has led to decreasing inter-bank lending due to lack of trust in each other's capacity to pay back.The ECB has been fiercely resisting pressure from southern countries and market analysts to step in and buy government debt on a massive scale, insisting that it can do so only to a limited degree and that it is there to salvage the financial system, not governments.In a speech on Monday in the European Parliament, ECB chief Mario Draghi warned of a credit crunch if his institution did not intervene to help banks out.Preventing that from happening was his main task rather than expanding the bond purchasing programme, which was neither eternal nor infinite.A June 2012 deadline for banks to boost their capital to nine percent risks forcing banks to fire sell assets at very low prices and to reduce overall lending even further, Draghi noted.

Despite the high demand for the Wednesday loans, analysts at the Royal Bank of Scotland estimated that about 61 percent of the total sum actually represented a roll-over of banks' shorter-term loans, meaning that net liquidity injected into EU banks only amounted to €191 billion.The key question now is whether this net new liquidity will be used to purchase sovereign bonds, lend to the economy or pay maturing bonds, RBS said in a note to investors.On Monday, Draghi had said that the aim of the new funding was for banks to lend to households and businesses and avoid a credit crunch.Almost a quarter of the loans - €116 billion - went to Italian banks such as UniCredit and Intesa, insiders told Reuters. The traditional American Normal Rockwell Christmas, the embodiment of small-town values and the orthodox American family is in jeopardy. Left up to the Progressives in power, the ghosts of Christmas future will treat their pajama-clad companions with a vision of the future that will be hardly visible under the ashes of forced secularism and certain economic disaster. If the entrenched GOP powerbrokers have their way, it will be replaced with a slightly less deficient, morally impaired and economically bankrupt system of globalism. The GOP establishment embedded in DC politics is determined to force Americans into a Hobson’s choice.With the Iowa caucus just two weeks away, there is still considerable acrimony within the GOP leadership pushing the old guard candidates. The discontent by conservative republicans is evident but ignored by career politicians, campaign strategists and their mouthpieces whose hubris is secondary only to their need for power and wealth that comes with it.

Tone deaf Tea Party benefactors

The last mid-term elections were supposed to install leaders who would recapture true American conservatism. They promised to embrace the core values of the conservative republican voters of heartland America, advance their agenda and begin the process of ridding the country of one of the worst big government presidents in U.S. history. Despite such promises, the former Tea Party candidates turned DC lawmakers have apparently abandoned their values and constituents. A prime example of such abandonment is the recent passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, which is a direct assault on the U.S. Constitution. Another example includes their silent acquiescence to the creation of a super congress, in which they have ceded their power to a gang of 12 plus one – Barack Hussein Obama, without so much as a whimper. We could continue, but is it really necessary? We think not, for those who followed thus far understand the corruption of politics, as well as the politics of corruption.Currently dominating the headlines is, of course, the GOP Presidential candidate and the Iowa caucus. The entrenched republican leadership is out in full force, pushing for a nominee who, in their opinion, will beat Obama. Obviously, for any thinking person who cares about the future of America, change in our executive leadership is necessary for the sovereignty and survival of our country. But is that the only standard by which GOP candidates are measured?

Remember 2008: Anybody but Bush!

Americans are notorious for our short attention span. Remember 2008 when the slogan was anybody but Bush? How is that working out for America? From that rallying cry, McCain emerged as the GOP candidate and the rest is history. The same infrastructure of GOP leaders that brought us candidate McCain is working to bring us a new GOP candidate for 2012. Today, it’s anybody but Obama.Same mindset, different election year.While it is essential for our future that we return to the values that are America, must we submit to the strategy of the very people who sold or otherwise abandoned the heart and soul of our country? It’s time for intellectual honesty here, as anything less could result in the United States Marine band playing a funeral dirge at the next inauguration should we settle for anyone who continues our present course.Gingrich, Romney, Perry, oh my! The established republican guard appears willing to present their party, as well as the American people, their choice for candidates irrespective of the conservative ideology that served as the party’s moral compass in decades past. It is they who decide who the frontrunner is, and it is they who banish non-conformists to the back of the party bus. The provide the talking points for the talking heads, instructing them of the approved topics and other topics that must not be addressed. It is this political machine behind the curtain that orchestrates the attacks on some while mitigating attacks on others.
When we peek behind the curtain, we see the individuals who are promoting the candidates who will continue big government, although repackage it so it appears more palatable. An honest assessment of Gingrich, Romney and Perry leads us to conclude that each frontrunner is heavily integrated into the global agenda, an apparent condition for promotion by the beltway aristocracy.As it appears that Newt Gingrich is taking the lead, it is important to ask what a Gingrich administration might bring us.

Gingrich on Globalism

A member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) since 1990, Gingrich has aligned himself with heads of states, banking, industry and international elites advancing a global agenda. This includes the creation and implementation of the North American Union, once thought to be an artifact of hypersensitive conspiracy kooks. With the onset of coordinated financial chaos, however, the likelihood of such a union is not far from becoming an economic necessity.If mere CFR membership and association with the global elite are not convincing enough, it should be noted that part of the implementation of the NAU includes the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). On November 17, 1993 Gingrich voted in favor of the implementation of NAFTA. He also supported the World Trade Organization (WTO), which puts American trade policies in the hands of international rivals.

Gingrich on Progressivism

Glenn Beck was attacked by conservatives for contending that Newt Gingrich is a Progressive. On his show, Beck broke down Newt Gingrich and his policies of big government establishment positions and noting that Gingrich most admires former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt, of course, is the father of the Bull Moose Party, which became the early onset of the progressive movement in the U.S.
Other examples include his progressive views involving climate change, mandates for health care and cap and trade, which he has since renounced or tempered. Still, one can find the now infamous television commercial he did with former Progressive House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the dangers of global warming. During his years in Congress, Gingrich co-sponsored 418 articles of legislation with Nancy Pelosi.We can point to numerous other Progressive positions adopted by Mr. Gingrich, including his one-time advocacy of cap-and-trade and federally mandated health insurance. For his role in the individual health care mandate, Gingrich founded a company that rolled his lobbying activities into government access, and enterprise where he capitalized on his years of government service.And of course with the state of economy today, who can morally justify his relationship with FreddieMac and FannieMae? Since he is the reported frontrunner and instead of parroting the official party line, we must act like conservatives and ask ourselves if Gingrich is the best we can do.

What now?

It is without question that another four years of the Obama agenda will move America off of life support and into the morgue, at least as far as our Constitutional principles and national sovereignty are concerned. But we cannot afford to accept a replacement that will merely slow the process, nor should we be forced to by the power elite posing as saviors of our nation.If this next presidential election is the most important election in all of our modern history as every conservative pundit, commentator, talk show host, writer, blogger, and politician claims, then we must not merely settle for anyone but Obama. We must not lie to ourselves or temper the truth. We must lay it all out, expose duplicity, and support someone who best supports our founding principles.After all, the Constitution is not just a g-damned piece of paper.It is the law of the land. OUR LAND, at least for now.

There is nothing naive or inexperienced about Obama in critical areas of importance that would affect his goals. He is most calculated and backed by his handlers, namely, global elitists and Islam. He has surrounded himself with total secrecy, paid millions to hide all his records, from birth, passport, College records…on and on. You name it, it is hidden from view.

How can any real American watching even from the outfield not reel in horror at what is going on day after day at the hands of this President? I beg America, don’t be a frog and boil to death! Be an American, rise up, organize, pray, march in the streets and join the Tea Party. Demand that patriots and constitutionalists get in the House, Senate and White House in 2012. We don’t have time for depression or fear. We are in the battle of our life time and the world depends on us winning and so do our kids.Obama is a destruction machine and playing rules for radicals perfectly.Whoever dares run for the office of President, and I as an outsider, I dare, must know that they aren’t running against another Democrat and liberal, but a complete liar and enemy to capitalism, our constitution, our freedoms, our Judeo Christian values and leadership in the world. Not only must they know who Obama is and the danger he represents to America but they must stand in front of America, defending her and confronting Obama with full force. I will.

Health care coal in your stocking

Forced Health care, now being reviewed in the Supreme Court is but a full on assault to our freedoms, state sovereignty, while transforming safe and effective care to cost effective care rivaling what Hitler did. With the end of life forced counseling for our seniors, parents and grandparents, they are rendered as nothing but ‘in the way’ numbers. Put them in long lines. Pay for much less. Make them pay for staying alive, rude little oldies that they are. I want to hear politicians SCREAM about this moral and constitutional betrayal.

Energy coal in your stocking

Where is the screaming about Obama and his EPA shutting down at least 68 Coal plants? He has also put forth idiot and endless regulations aimed at various power plants. These power and coal plants represent enough needed power in the US that there will be rolling black outs across America without them. They will gut power provided to at least 22 million people in 12 states, and that is just for starters. States will be forced to buy more expensive power from other states, then deal with even endless unemployment and huge increases in utility rates.

Where are the collective screams by our so called leaders standing against the Senate vote – The National Defense authorization act S. 1867. All who had anything to do with this bill should be chased out of the Senate! Shame on John McCain and Carl Levin who authored such a traitorous bill. This bill completely makes a mockery of our protection under Posse Comitatus of 1878 and shreds our Miranda rights afforded to all US citizens. Now, our military can turn on their own people, without charges and hold them indefinitely on vague terrorist suspicions without trial. Our so called representatives and leaders should be screaming about the bold violation of our constitution, posse comitatus and shredding of our Mirada rights!

FEMA camp coal

We are seeing another horror as over 72 FEMA camps are activated all across the country. I want our so called leaders shouting out WHY? WHY and WHY? ….then, shutting these down. If we had a Nuclear attack or major attack I would understand, not on the heals of the Senate vote saying the US military can now arrest their own. Hmmmmmm.Our so called President, sues his Governors, ignores real border security, shreds our relationship with Israel and kisses up non stop to radical Islam, especially Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood. Where are our leaders screaming against Obama employing members of the Muslim Brotherhood as part of his and Hillary Clinton’s staff? Bilirakis and Plakon are both patriots.Congressman Bilirakis specifically requested a seat on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs because he wants to be an advocate for veterans and their families in the United States Congress. He is working to ensure that veterans receive the benefits they have earned through their service to our nation. He also chairs the Republican Policy Committee’s Task Force on Veterans’ Affairs.Leading the fight to provide our veterans and service members with the pay and benefits they deserve, Bilirakis has introduced legislation to address the concurrent receipt of military retired pay and VA disability, expand the Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) program and increase military pay. Provisions based on his legislation have been incorporated into the Fiscal Year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, which is working its way through the legislative process. In addition, the House passed his wounded warrior legislation to ensure that our wounded service members receive the care and services they need.

As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, he has raised important health care and benefits issues with the VA Secretary and other top VA officials. He supported legislation to increase funding for veterans’ health care funding. Specifically, the bill provides $37.2 billion for veterans’ health care programs and creates new programs to help those with traumatic brain injuries and other mental health needs which are among the most common problems facing Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. He has also introduced legislation to create a test mail-order pharmacy program to save military retirees both time and money.In addition, he is fighting to bring additional health care resources to Florida and the Ninth Congressional District. Since coming to Congress, he has worked with local and national VA officials to expand the Pasco County VA Outpatient Clinic and bring additional health care services, such as dental care, to area veterans. He also has visited the James Haley VA Medical Center (VAMC), meeting with the medical center staff and veterans to discuss the care and services provided at the VAMC.As a member of the Veterans’ Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, Bilirakis has also toured the VA Regional Office and met with VA officials to discuss veterans’ claims processing issues. He is working with his Subcommittee colleagues improve the claims processing system to reduce the claims backlog and shorten response times.

Congressman Bilirakis also knows that military service does not take place in a vacuum. He has introduced legislation to improve the benefits for veterans’ survivors. As a young boy growing up in Rochester, New York, Scott Plakon’s parents would take him and his two brothers on vacation every year to visit beautiful Florida.
