Each story is important, but chief among them is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with foreign reporters earlier today. The PM warned that the threat of the Iranian regime acquiring nuclear weapons is still very real, very worrisome, and hinted that Israel is actively considering military action. Indeed, he said that the only way for economic sanctions ultimately to convince the regime in Tehran to stop pursuing nuclear weapons is if those sanctions are backed by a credible military threat. What’s more, Netanyahu distanced himself from last week’s assessment by outgoing Mossad intelligence chief Meir Dagan that Iran won’t have the Bomb until 2015. He called it was one view among many, and implied he disagreed with Dagan.The only chance that these sanctions will achieve their objectives would be to couple them.with an understanding from Iran that no matter what…that is if they do not achieve their goal, they will be followed with credible military action, Netanyahu said. He noted that the only time Iran briefly suspended pursuit of the Bomb was in 2003, after the U.S. invaded Iraq. When Iran thought there was a credible military option from the United States they temporarily suspended their nuclear weapons programme.

With regards to Dagan’s 2015 assessment, Netanyahu said: I think that intelligence estimates are exactly that, estimates. They range from best case to worst case possibilities, and there is a range there, there is room for differing assessments.
Netanyahu and his close aides are privately furious with Dagan for allowing his somewhat generous assessment of Iran’s capabilities to become public. They are concerned that this potentially allows the international community to ease up on pressure on Iran and undercut the Prime Minister’s strategy of intensifying world pressure on Iran. One advisor said, Dagan should be drawn and quartered.The timing of Dagan’s remarks, and the way they were said, is unacceptable — former heads of Mossad did not behave that way on the day of their departure, said other senior Israeli sources to a reporter. There’s something unprofessional in this. Dagan does not set policy, but only recommends, and his is one of several recommendations.The situation strikes me as similar to the 2007 U.S. National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) that stated that Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003. President Bush and his senior aides at the time felt blindsided by the report which leaked before they had read and processed the assessment. What’s more, Bush disagreed with the NIE. He said publicly that he believed Iran was still a real threat and still determined to acquire nuclear weapons, and later said in his book, Decision Points, the NIE had limited his options and undercut his efforts to build international pressure on Iran. In the end, it has become clear that Iran has reengaged its pursuit of nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, valuable time was lost by the leak of the NIE report.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu said he wants to negotiate peace with the Palestinians, but they are simply refusing to sit down and have honest, direct talks. What is preventing the advent of peace, the advent of peace negotiations is that the Palestinians are doing everything in their power to avoid them, said Netanyahu. That is the simple truth….The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. They are not going to get an imposed settlement from the outside, it does not work. The only way to get peace is to negotiate peace….If they are prepared to negotiate then they will find — that this government, my government, this prime minister, me — that I’m prepared and able to achieve historic peace.

The total has more than doubled in five years, largely as a result of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as changes in military doctrine.

“The Department of Defense’s increased requirements for small- and medium-calibre ammunitions have largely been driven by increased weapons training requirements, dictated by the army’s transformation to a more self-sustaining and lethal force – which was accelerated after the attacks of 11 September, 2001 – and by the deployment of forces to conduct recent US military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq, said the report by the General Accounting Office (GAO).Estimating how many bullets US forces have expended for every insurgent killed is not a simple or precisely scientific matter. The former head of US forces in Iraq, General Tommy Franks, famously claimed that his forces don’t do body counts.But senior officers have recently claimed great successes in Iraq, based on counting the bodies of insurgents killed. Maj-Gen Rick Lynch, the top US military spokesman in Iraq, said 1,534 insurgents had been seized or killed in a recent operation in the west of Baghdad. Other estimates from military officials suggest that at least 20,000 insurgents have been killed in President George Bush’s war on terror.

John Pike, director of the Washington military research group GlobalSecurity.org, said that, based on the GAO’s figures, US forces had expended around six billion bullets between 2002 and 2005. How many evil-doers have we sent to their maker using bullets rather than bombs? I don’t know, he said.If they don’t do body counts, how can I? But using these figures it works out at around 300,000 bullets per insurgent. Let’s round that down to 250,000 so that we are underestimating.Pointing out that officials say many of these bullets have been used for training purposes, he said: What are you training for? To kill insurgents.Kathy Kelly, a spokeswoman for the peace group Voices in the Wilderness, said Mr Bush believed security for the American people could come only from the use of force. Truer security would be achieved if the US developed fairer relations with other countries and was not involved in the occupation of Iraq. The President, said Ms Kelly, should learn from Israel’s experience of occupying the Palestinians rather than buying its ammunition.

The GAO report notes that the three government-owned, contractor-operated plants that produce small- and medium-calibre ammunition were built in 1941.Though millions of dollars have been spent on upgrading the facilities, they remain unable to meet current munitions needs in their current state. The government-owned plant producing small-calibre ammunition cannot meet the increased requirements, even with modernisation efforts, said the report.Also, commercial producers within the national technology and industrial base have not had the capacity to meet these requirements. As a result, the Department of Defense had to rely at least in part on foreign commercial producers to meet its small-calibre ammunition needs.A report in Manufacturing & Technology News said that the Pentagon eventually found two producers capable of meeting its requirements. One of these was the US firm Olin-Winchester.The other was Israel Military Industries, an Israeli ammunition manufacturer linked to the Israeli government, which produces the bulk of weapons and ordnance for the Israeli Defence Force.The Pentagon reportedly bought 313 million rounds of 5.56mm, 7.62mm and 50-calibre ammunition last year and paid $10m (about £5.5m) more than it would have cost for it to produce the ammunition at its own facilities.

President Obama has missed the opportunity to stop the fraudulent attack against conservatives and talk radio by the media and Democrats. Now, our President gives us the big, written out and late speech that talks about the victims and healing for the nation.Honor the Dead and the families. No mention about the obscene distortion, libel and lies hurled at conservatives who speak their mind on radio and TV.Shame on Barack Obama. He is the President of all US citizens and he has fraudulently and stupidly missed the opportunity to promote the truth, represent us all and stop the libel.The teleprompter speech now is as usual, 2 days late. You see, it would not serve Obama and the progressive left’s purposes to stop the blame and lies. Saul Alynsky and Rules for Radicals tells them what to do and this is a crises not to waste. Responding late and in a shallow/teleprompter way seem to be part of the hallmark of this President. We saw him wait 3 days to respond to the nation regarding the near successful plane explosion, by an Islamic radical, Christmas Day of 2009. He was apparently distracted with a golf game in Hawaii. Then, regarding the evil of Islamic radical, Major Nidal Hasan who murdered 14 people at Ft. Hood, we heard our President say Don’t rush to judgment as if it was a practical crime to notice the obvious, that the FBI had tracked him for 1 ½ years, he was in touch with Al Qaeda, radical Imams who had talked with the 9/11 hijackers and demonstrated bizarre, behavior. We weren’t supposed to notice that he was yet another Muslim on a Jihad, wiping out infidels in a planned attack. Sorry Mr. President. It must be my nasty talk radio background to have quickly noticed those facts.

For the last few days we have heard the media and leftist orgy of blood libel and blame against the Republicans, Talk Radio, Tea Party and conservatives in general. As a growing, national talk radio host I have been most fascinated as to the complete avoidance by the media and left regarding realty of the killer and his world.I have heard media say that Jared Loughner, the accused murderer was an atheist, Satanist, drug addict, had an occult shrine in his home, scared others at school, grabbed people’s crotches and wrote out bizarre and violent fantasies. We also know that Loughner had contacted Rep. Gabrielle Giffords several times and felt ‘disrespected’ with her response. He fed his evil with drugs, the occult and Satanism. Politically, he was a known Independent.The bottom line was that he had an occult fed, evil obsession that grew regarding the Representative. He then acted on his obsession and went to another function Giffords spoke at. We all know the tragic facts that happened. It was a blood letting. From witness accounts we know that Loughner shot Rep. Giffords in the head, murdered 6 people, including a 9 year old girl and a Republican, federal Judge, John Roll, among others.

Immediately we heard Democrats, officials and media everywhere start blaming this all on talk radio, conservative rhetoric, the environment we all create, the anger in the air….on and on the blood libel assault as grown. One Democrat congressman commented,If violent rhetoric didn’t cause this shooting it will cause the next one.The now infamous Sheriff Clarence Dupnik smeared talk radio and conservatives almost immediately saying that on air vitriol has consequences. Mr. Wisdom shrine himself, Bill Clinton weighed in talking about how words have consequences.Now the usual, absurd blaming orgy is going on endless rides around the theme park. Progressives and other leftists in media are talking gun control pushing the fairness doctrine in a heavier way…..going after those nasty conservatives and talk radio folks…….evil and dangerous I tell you. Freedom and speech must stop or murders will grow everywhere.Now we at least know what the real issue is thanks to Sheriff Dupnik, our rogue and leftist media, Obama, Clinton and other enlightened leftists.Drum roll………Conservatives, Talk Radio and the Tea Party people are the problem. We must be stopped.

I have never heard any mainstream talk radio personality or conservative political leader, like Sarah Palin suggest anything immoral or illegal. Any person would be most horrified with the evil murders that occurred in Arizona. I would submit that this nation MUST be angry and focused right now to get things done. We MUST continue to the rebuking momentum and ‘spankage’ that occurred in the mid terms to correct the damaging mistake America made in the last election by electing Obama. If the radically drugged media and progressive leftists feel that talk radio and the right is creating an environment of anger…..they are right….AND IT WILL INCREASE, FOCUS AND VOTE THE REST OF THE SCUM OUT OF OFFICE, INCLUDING OBAMA. Dual-degree Hamas rooted program introduced into U.S. college, backed by George Soros With funding help from George Soros, Bard College has developed a new academic program that will award dual college degrees from Bard University and Al Quds University in the Palestinian Authority. 10 January 2011: In an article dated 27 December 2010, I wrote about how Bard College President Leon Botstein is permitting a Hamas support group called the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) to operate on his college campus to train activists to go the Middle East as a human shield support arm for known terrorist groups like Hamas.Rather than closing down the campus group, the first one of its kind in the U.S. on a college campus, Botstein instead defended it as part of the free exchange of ideas. But Bard-ISM engages in lies and deception as part of the ISM playbook, and does more than just teach propaganda to Bard’s students. The campus club trains activists to assist terrorist murderers such as are found in Hamas. Some of Bard’s trainees were involved with the Gaza Freedom Flotilla boats.Now further information is emerging about the judgment of Bard’s president which could be the harbinger of more ruinous effects on American post-secondary education across the nation.Leon Botstein, Bard’s President, who promotes himself as a progressive educator and musician and who incredibly uses the memory of his relatives who died in the Holocaust as a kind of excuse for his support of such anti-Semitic movements on his campus, has been teaming up with billionaire leftist philanthropist George Soros to create a new educational paradigm with such a program that could spell disaster for college curriculum in America. Left unchecked and allowed to exist below the radar, it will surely have an equally disastrous impact on Israel, our friend and democratic ally in the Middle East.

Leon Botstein: the educational progressive

Since Botstein considers himself an educational progressive, he has advanced the idea that students in America should bypass high school and go straight to college. Actually, such a progressive idea would probably make sense to Botstein, who wants the curriculum and educational system of the totalitarian world to carry equal weight with a U.S. college degree. Many high school students can’t read and are open to indoctrination, so why not speed them up to these same faults at the collegiate level? If you’ve ever wondered how some Arab college students flew jetliners into the World Trade Center, understand they had a lifetime of indoctrination in the classroom against the US and Israel that inspired them to do so.In keeping with Botstein’s sick and twisted idea that he is promoting peace by allowing students to be trained and funded on campus to join the Hamas flotillas to enter Gaza in support of Hamas, and to send activists to the West Bank to interfere with anti-terror operations of the IDF, Botstein now intends to have a Palestinian university that has open educational and organizational roots with Hamas to contribute curriculum to a program that will be recognized as part of the American college educational experience. Thanks to Botstein’s penchant for supporting Palestinian groups that attack the notion of a Jewish state, that curriculum will be given equal weight with what is taught in America and applied toward an American college diploma.With funding help from Soros, Bard college has come up with a new academic program that will award dual college degrees from Bard University and Al Quds University in the Palestinian Authority. Half the program will be dedicated to turning out teachers, who you can bet will be turning out the false history and political garbage of the totalitarian Palestinian Authority, not what US teachers usually teach.

This dual degree program with Bard isn’t just limited to Al Quds University in the Palestinian Authority but is intended to be also offered in conjunction with another Palestinian college in the West Bank. Those other colleges, such as Bir Zeit University and Al-Najah are also known Hamas bastions. The student groups that ran for control of student government at Bir Zeit ran on a ticket of Hamas murdering more Jews than its terrorist club opponents with displays illustrating Israeli buses destroyed by attacks and explosions. Meanwhile, An-Najah ran a museum exhibit on campus representing the Sbarro Pizza Parlor bombing by Hamas, replete with blood splattered display and body parts, all in praise of the Arab martyr who carried out the mass murder.

The Bard dual degree program: a stepping stone

It is important to understand that once such a dual program is accredited in the US, Botstein’s support of these terror-bases-cum colleges in the Middle East can also enjoy financial subsidies from U.S. taxpayers via Title IV funding of the National Education Act.Is this really so bad? you might ask. Won’t this promote peace between Arabs and Israelis? Won’t this uplift the Arabs and make them more like us and to like us as a people and culture? Well, guess again…During the Cold War, immigrants to America who managed to escape the Soviet Union and enrolled in American universities found that units for courses they studied in the humanities frequently could not be articulated for credit for degrees here in the US. The logic that followed most college administrations back then was that courses in history and political science taught in totalitarian communist countries could not be regarded as education, but rather indoctrination taught in the mindset of the totalitarian regime where such courses in the humanities were taught.Former Iraqi agent & Intifada leader assisting Bard’s project

Assisting in Botstein’s pet project is Sari Nusseibeh, the President of Al Quds University and a good buddy of Bostein’s. Starry-eyed progressives such as Bottsein like to fawn over Nusseibeh as being an educated Palestinian with whom peace can be achieved. In fact, it would almost appear that way – almost, until looks further through the thin layer of hypocrisy and contradictions he embraces.For example, Nusseibeh has chosen not to support the academic boycott of Israel and has even publicly spoken out against suicide bombings. What most people fail to understand, however, is the reason why he has embraced such a position. His objections to those tactics are not based on peace or moral standards, but because he does not believe they go far enough. Such measures are not effective in achieving Palestinian irredentist goals and in his judgment, those tactics fail to create enough antipathy against Israel to the outside world.

Al Quds & Hamas

Nusseibeh allows Hamas and other terror organizations and their leaders to have a presence on the Al Quds campus. The Hamas Charter, of course, calls for the destruction of all of Israel and the eventual annihilation all of the world’s Jews. He was caught during the First Gulf War spotting, by telephone, for Saddam Hussein’s SCUDS to be dropped on the heads of Israelis. Sari Nusseibeh was advising the Iraqis how to better target their Scud missiles so they would have the maximum possible impact on Israeli public opinion, according to a former Israeli official quoted in this article. One of the targets he suggested they target was Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem, Israel’s largest and best-equipped emergency/trauma center. Caught in the act, he was arrested on 29 January 1991 and served about 90 days in detention, but was later deported without charge.He was allowed to return to Jerusalem as the President of Al Quds University by an Israeli government that at the time, was leftist in its thinking and irresponsible in its actions regarding the safety of the Israeli people. Aryeh Elded, a member of Israel’s parliament who read the arrest report stated that Nusseibehn should have received ten years of hard time for his actions.None of this matters to Botstein, however, who cites one reason that we should all trust his judgment is that he is a conductor emeritus for the Jerusalem symphony. You see, he claims to really love Israel while concurrently claiming Judea and Samaria is a political name (only 2,000 years old) for what should legitimately be called the West Bank (invented in 1948 by the Arabs for the Western press). Botstein loves Israel so much he’ll help the Arabs deport all the Jews out of the West Bank.

Palestinian infiltration into the American university and college system is nothing new, but is growing in its intensity and fervor. The Palestinian Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs (passia.org) began a project under Arafat that took young Arab students with a good command of English and trained them to then go under scholarship to an American college where their job was to get into the campus newspapers and organize anti-Israel propaganda on campuses, usually by creating chapters called Students for Justice in Palestine or similar names.Today, if you visit most major campuses there are mock checkpoint displays and tabling accusing Israel of being an apartheid state when, in reality, it is the only state in the region that does not practice apartheid. To date, this has been mostly just propaganda. But now, Botstein is allowing the first chapter of the International Solidarity Movement on a US college campus, a group that trains not only Arabs but American anarchist students in methods of entering the Holy Land to act as human shields and how to interfere with anti-terror operations of the Israeli army.When I confronted Botstein about this, he justified it by citing the assorted SJP chapters across the country. One can be certain that if Botstein allows the ISM Chapter on his campus to continue conducting business as usual, other campuses will follow suit and allow similar training chapters of the ISM on their campuses. They will point to Bard, Botstein and Al Quds and consider it as a progressive pilot program. The dual Bard-Al Quds diploma program will undoubtedly provide a sense of legitimacy to future programs at other colleges and universities.Just as with soviet curriculum during the Cold War, curriculum in the humanities from Al Quds, particularly history and political science will no doubt contain the latest propaganda narratives of the Arabs they use to indoctrinate their own people. It is not unusual to find Arab PhD’s at Arab universities in the West Bank who teach that Israel’s Jews never came from the Holy Land. While one might argue that this is already happening in U.S. universities, it is not presently taking place with accreditation under a dual degree program. Anti-Semitic myths like the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion that are taught as fact in Middle Eastern Universities will creep into American curriculum and courses that teach same will be accredited toward earning that American dual degree. Additionally, there is absolutely no guarantee that courses from the Middle Eastern partner colleges that will be contributing to a U.S. diploma will be thoroughly monitored for historical accuracy. Articles like the Hamas Charter can and will be taught in subtle ways that do not even identify it to students as the terrorist instrument it is.Before any such dual degrees should be allowed in the college venue, Palestinian colleges should be proven to be part of modern democratic society, not a continuation of totalitarian society where such colleges and their curriculum only bolster the propaganda of dictatorship.President Botstein of Bard prefers putting the cart before the horse; instead of teaching the Arab world American educational concepts of research and actual proof as practiced over here, that is American and democratic values, he will be importing the same cesspool of education that exists in the Arab world into the American college classroom and providing cover for Hamas activists to invade the college campuses of America.

UK on higher alert for terror attacks

12 January 2011: The New York Times reported Saturday that British authorities raised the level of terrorism alerts at transport hubs including railroad stations and airports on Friday, but news here in the U.S. relative to that threat was quickly overshadowed by the mass shooting in Tucson. According to a highly placed domestic intelligence source at Scotland Yard I interviewed yesterday, there is a deep concern over possible suicide attacks by bombers or teams of bombers, or even attacks by Muslim terrorists using firearms in conjunction with explosives. The likelihood of these attacks appear to greater at airports, the underground rail and stations.British authorities raised the alert level for those locations on Friday, while leaving the national terror assessment at severe, which is Britain’s second highest level of alert. As reported by the New York Times, holidays for counter-terrorism officials and in some police departments have been cancelled or postponed until further notice.Additional intelligence indicates possible attack plans by Islamic terrorists against financial centers and political offices. These concerns are immediate and expected to last for the immediate future. Liberals Hate Our Constitution Because It is So Fair

Hardly ever does a day go by without some form of disparagement being uttered by a liberal Democrat regarding our stately and rock-solid Constitution. It is the stout character and survivability of that internationally revered document that those left-wing cretins just can’t stomach. They wish to all their supposed deities for it to fail or be found to be incompetent; but alas, poor Yorick, it still stands tall.
Were the Constitution found to be lacking, a great screech of unbounded joy would ring out of the current personnel now usurping our White House; they could run roughshod over all formalities and legal documents and doctrines in their efforts to hand us over to a third world entity with corrupt leaders such as the unscrupulous United Nations.The very astute and redoubtable David Limbaugh wrote in the GOP/USA The Eagle on January 4, 2011 an article titled, Is the Constitution Senile? Commentary on gopusa.com, which outlined the move made by the new congressional Republicans’ brilliant decision to actually read the entire Constitution aloud on the floor of the Congress on opening day.

On that occasion, it seemed that just about all the Reps, R’s and D’s took part in the process, each speaking one section of the quite simple for such an auspicious and enduring document. Even little Nancy, who was the third in line to emote, which she did like a well schooled fifth grader who had memorized her few lines in the school play. She did it in rapid fire mode and I half expected to see her curtsy and rush back to her seat when she finished.In the past two years, the liberal Democrats have proven that they either have no knowledge of the contents of this distinguished document that was the base for their swearing in ceremony when each of them first became Congressmen; or they have no loyalty to adhere to its rulings and guidance. Frankly, we all know it is the latter of those two as is shown by the largely anti-American legislation that favors not the people of the United States but only certain designated and chosen sections that are partial to those same liberal Democrats.Limbaugh wrote of two Washington Post blogger/writers, Ezra Klein and E. J. Dionne providing input for the discussion on the constitutional reading, Klein calling it a gimmick and saying it was written more than 100 years ago showing a bit of uncertainty himself about the document that was signed and adopted in 1787 some 224 years ago.Dionne expressed similar irreverence for our founding document Limbaugh stated, by lamenting that the tea party movement has treated the Constitution as the equivalent of sacred scripture.Limbaugh went on to say that those assessment(s) are quite a far cry from that of former British Prime Minister William Gladstone, who observed, The American Constitution is, so far as I can see, the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.

This is why Ezra Klein and E. J. Dionne Washington Post writers try to denigrate the Constitution to any extent possible; because it is so RIGHT and I don’t mean that in the political sense as compared to their LEFTness. No, those two followers of socio-communist beliefs just don’t like the fairness and correctness of our Constitution; they would rather see it an even more jumbled mess than they normally describe it, if only to make their point that it is a faulty document.If ever they could get their heads screwed on properly they might be able to see the plausibility of that wonderful document that has been held up as a model of completeness by noted scholars and statesmen from around the globe.The left would like to be able to interpret it on an occasion-by-occasion basis and mold it to say what they would have it say had they themselves written it. In other words, let it state what is in their bigoted and warped brains for any given situation; not a case of one rule fits all, but a case of one rule means to be changed to whatever they have in mind for that occasion. Typically left-wing cheating to make something fit that otherwise would never be acceptable. Like the liberal interpretation of the word bipartisanship to mean, Do it our way.

The Weakest Link: Dupnik

NYC Mayor Bloomberg is no longer the most incompetent local official in America. The torch has been passed to Pima County Sheriff, Clarence Dupnik for his disastrous mishandling of Jared Loughner who went on a shooting rampage.Dupnik’s non stop blathering about how talk radio drove Loughner to shoot into a crowd was crazy enough. As the county’s top law enforcement officer, Dupnik is supposed to be investigating a crime, not campaigning for higher office on the Democrat ticket.It’s bad enough that his comments are gifts to Loughner’s defense attorneys. It’s downright Holderesque to assert phony facts without a scintilla of actual evidence.

But the sheriff desperately needs to deflect attention away from himself and his gross incompetence when it comes to all matters Jared Loughner. This is not one of those cases in which a normally nice, quiet kid” suddenly goes berserk. People who knew Loughner were hardly surprised to learn he was the shooter. They were expecting him to do something like this.Even the NYT admits Loughner was well known to law enforcement, as was his not exactly normal family:He was a nihilist and loves causing chaos, and that is probably why he did the shooting, along with the fact he was sick in the head,said Zane Gutierrez, 21, who was living in a trailer outside Tucson and met Mr. Loughner sometimes to shoot at cans for target practice.The police visited the Loughner home more than once before the shooting. A college instructor was so unnerved by the kid that he kicked Loughner out of class. Loughner had five contacts with the campus police. Fifty two year old former classmate, Lynda Sorenson:We have a mentally unstable person in the class that scares the living crap out of me. He is one of those whose picture you see on the news, after he has come into class with an automatic weapon. Everyone interviewed would say, Yeah, he was in my math class and he was really weird. I sit by the door with my purse handy. If you see it on the news one night, know that I got out fast…

A fifty two year old female has a pretty well honed intuition. Maybe she should be Pima’s next sheriff.Loughner’s fixation with Gabrielle Giffords began during the pre Palin era of 2007.It won’t take a lot of testing to determine that Loughner is paranoid schizophrenic. Most mentally ill people are not dangerous–this group is an exception. It’s also a disorder especially resistant to treatment. Doctors and therapists are viewed as part of the conspiracy, not as helpers.Sheriff Dupnik’s ignorance of such a dangerous mental disorder is frightening. The hallmark of schizophrenia is that the patient responds to internal rather than external cues. These are the people who hear voices.Jared felt nothing existed but his subconscious, Mr. Gutierrez said. The dream world was what was real to Jared, not the day-to-day of our lives.That’s a pretty good description of schizophrenia. When those delusions are paranoid in nature, you have an unpredictably dangerous person. Loughner’s rage was directed at the demons in his own mind. Unfortunately, he perceives them as being part of the external world.

Too bad the sheriff missed all of that.Perhaps stationing a deputy or two at the Giffords event would have been prudent given all the sheriff knew about Loughner’s history.Or perhaps Dupnik could have taken this young man’s obvious mental illness seriously over the years.It says a lot about Dupnik’s weakness of character that he cannot even entertain the possibility that he may bear some responsibility for the tragedy.
