Saturday to build connections at a convention in Calgary.The annual
Jalsa Salana Convention is the largest and longest-running Muslim
convention in Western Canada. Held at the Genesis Centre in Calgary,
this year's event marked the return of the convention after two years of
cancellations due to the pandemic.Lal Khan Malik, national president of
the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at of Canada, who flew in from Toronto, was
happy to be back at the event."It's really [a] delightful feeling to be
together again after three years," he said.Malik said one of the main
focuses of Saturday's conference was to build connections between Muslim
and Indigenous communities. Members of several First Nations
communities were invited to the event.Communities coming togetherMalik
said the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Canada has been reaching out to
First Nations communities over the last few years."We feel that we need
to know more about them and make ourselves available to them if we can

interest, amid a renewed push by Hamas to negotiate the release of the

Brigades, said the strike last May hit the facility where one of the two

shekels from the Palestinian Authority on Sunday to offset funds that

600 million ($176 million) that the government voted to freeze will come

of Penticton saw minimal growth overnight, but low visibility is making
it difficult to fight the flames from the air.The Regional District of
Okanagan-Similkameen issued an evacuation order on Saturday for
communities in the vicinity of the Keremeos Creek wildfire, which was
discovered Friday and was earlier described by the Wildfire Service as
displaying "aggressive" and "erratic" behaviour.The order covers Green
Mountain Road between Highway 3A to the south and Apex Mountain Road to
the north, as well as the general vicinity of Ford Lake and the north
end of Sheep Creek Road.The Wildfire Service says in an online update

recent massive flooding, Gov. Andy Beshear said.As residents in
Appalachia tried to slowly piece their lives back together, flash flood
warnings were issued for at least eight eastern Kentucky counties. The
National Weather Service said radar indicated up to 4 inches (10.2
centimeters) of rain fell Sunday in some areas, with more rain
possible.Beshear said the death toll climbed to 26 on Sunday from last
week's storms, a number he expected to rise significantly and that it
could take weeks to find all the victims.As many as 37 people were
unaccounted for, according to a daily briefing from the Federal
Emergency Management Agency. A dozen shelters were open for flood
victims in Kentucky with 388 occupants on Sunday.Gen. Daniel Hokanson,
