Police Gearing Up for Muslim, Jewish Religious Events on Shabbat-With the coincidence this Shabbat Yom Kippur and the Muslim Eid al-adha, police are hoping that quiet will prevail.By Moshe Cohen-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 1:55 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
With the coincidence this Shabbat of the Jewish Day of Repentance (Yom Kippur) and the Muslim “Festival of the Sacrifice” (Eid al-adha), police are gearing up to make sure that both communities stay out of each others' way to avoid potential clashes – especially in places like Jerusalem, where Jews and Arabs live shoulder to shoulder, and most especially in sensitive areas like the Old City.In a press release apparently aimed at right-wing Jews, whom police fear will perpetrate so-called “price tag attacks”, police said that they “will not permit damage to any religious symbol or government edifice or representation. There will be zero tolerance for anyone engaging in these acts or inciting others to do so,” the statement said. While Jews will mostly be in synagogue, police noted, Muslims around the country will have a day off, most likely frequenting the national parks and public spaces that will be more or less abandoned by Jews for the day. In addition, Muslims are expected to visit religious sites like the Temple Mount and the Machpelah Cave. Police will be deployed at these sites, as well as at the leisure sites that are expected to be filled with Muslim visitors.Police have conducted numerous meetings with local rescue and security officials in many communities in preparation for the big days. Officials have also reached out to local Arab village and community leaders in order to ensure that tension is kept to a minimum, police said.Meanwhile, the IDF said that it had decided to approve 500 family visits in Gaza to Palestinians residing in Judea and Samaria over the age of 60 in honor of the Muslim festival, and 200 permits for travel abroad via the Ben Gurion Airport will be given out to Palestinian Arab businessmen. 500 residents of Gaza, aged 60 and over, will be permitted entry to the Temple Mount complex for prayers on each day of the holiday. Israel has also approved exports of agriculture, including fisheries, from Gaza to Judea and Samaria. The move comes as part of a general increase in the number of Gaza residents allowed to travel into Judea and Samaria, a gesture in the ongoing ceasefire talks between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas, which are to resume in Cairo in the last week of October.Meanwhile, Arab rioters have been attacking police officers and Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, on a regular basis; last Wednesday ahead of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) that violence boiled over into wild riots. It has been revealed that Hamas has been actively fanning the violence and funding riots on the Temple Mount to create instability in Israel.
France urges Israel to call off East Jerusalem settlement plans-Reuters-OCT 2,14-YAHOONEWS
PARIS (Reuters) - France called on Israel on Thursday to drop plans for new settlements in East Jerusalem, joining the United States and Berlin in criticism of the move."We condemn the Israeli authorities decision to build 2,610 homes in Givat Hamatos," French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said in a statement, adding that it would be the first new colony in East Jerusalem in 15 years."We urgently call on the Israeli authorities to reverse this decision," he said.Fabius said the settlements threatened a "two-state solution" - meaning an independent and democratic Palestinian state living alongside Israel."One cannot claim to support a solution and at the same time do things against without consequences being drawn, including at the European Union level," Fabius said without elaborating. The U.S. State Department said on Wednesday that reports that Israel had moved forward with settlement plans would call into question Israel's commitment to peace.(Reporting by Leigh Thomas; Editing by Robin Pomeroy)
Why Are Islamists Obsessed with Jews on the Temple Mount? What lies behind the alarming harassment of Jewish worshippers at Judaism's holiest site? And why aren't Temple Mount activists afraid? By Ari Soffer-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 12:06 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Why are Muslims obsessed with Jews visiting the Temple Mount in Jerusalem? That's a question the Temple Institute is asking in a new video illustrating the shocking harassment, intimidation and violence faced by Jewish pilgrims to the holiest site in Judaism at the hands of Muslim extremists. The video is a montage of several clips - all taken by Muslim worshippers on a single day (1st October) - showing small groups of Jews on the Mount being verbally and, in at least one case, physically assaulted by mobs of Islamists in an attempt to drive them from the holy site.In the last clip, the tactic finally works; a group of Jewish visitors are literally swept off the Mount for their own safety by police as an angry Muslim mob surges forward. The Temple Institute's International Director, Rabbi Chaim Richman, said his organization had produced the video "to expose and publicize the horrific treatment that innocent Jewish visitors are subjected to daily on the Temple Mount - the holiest place in the world for the Jewish people.""It is unconscionable that this travesty takes places in the heart of Jerusalem," he added, condemning the fact that amid all the violence by Muslim extremists, the police only made one arrest - of a young Jewish man who eventually responded in kind to the verbal abuse his group had been receiving throughout their visit."Those who visit the sacred site do so with expert rabbinical guidance, after taking all the necessary halachic steps and precautions to safeguard sanctity. The visitors goal is simply to have a spiritual experience, to be seen there by God, and to pray. But they are set upon by these malicious Muslim hordes, who act as if they are literally possessed by unbridled hatred. All this takes place under the watchful eyes of the Israel police, who never intervene, never act to distance the groups or stop them from following the Jews, and systematically reward the inciters by banishing the Jews from the Temple Mount whenever the mobs become too unruly - instead of arresting the perpetrators."
A sign of the times?
The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism, and has been revered as such for roughly 3,000 years. It was the location of the two Temples of Jerusalem, the latter of which was destroyed by Imperial Rome in 70 CE, and according to some Jewish traditions is also the spot where the creation of the world began.
But you wouldn't know it.
Today, the Islamic Al Aqsa Mosque complex stands on the ruins of the Jewish Temples, and the Muslim Waqf (an Islamic agency run by the Jordanian government) administers the site. Under pressure from the Waqf and amid violence and threats by Islamists, Israeli police impose severe restrictions on Jews from even entering the site: only small groups are allowed on at a time, accompanied by police and Waqf agents to ensure they do not engage in prayer or any other forms of worship - which is strictly forbidden for Jews under penalty of arrest. This despite numerous Israeli court rulings that Jews should by granted freedom of religion on the Mount and not be prevented from worshipping there.Rabbi Richman noted that while not all Jewish groups face the same levels of intimidation and violence, incidents like the ones in the video are "a daily occurrence."He accused authorities of not doing enough to enforce order, even on sensitive dates where restrictions are ostensibly put in place to distance Islamist extremists from the area and avoid clashes. "The police make a show of trying to accommodate Jewish visits, but it is nothing more than an empty sham. On days when the police limit the entry of Muslim worshipers to the Temple Mount to men over 50 years of age... then on those days, the crowds who follow, verbally abuse and push the Jews, are men over 50! "On days when there are no restrictions, then the crowds consist of men, women and children, and youths who hurl incendiary devices.""The Temple Institute created this video with footage that was created by the Muslims themselves. They film these occurrences and share them on social media because they are so proud and happy to be degrading the Jews on the Temple Mount."Rabbi Richman singled out Internal Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovich for particularly harsh criticism. He said a recent statement by Aharonovich saying he would like to "tens of thousands" of Jews visiting the Temple Mount was deceptive."For him to have made this public statement is just another example of his cynical, manipulative disregard and insensitivity... for the orders he issues to the officers on the Temple Mount bespeak the exact opposite: Make it as difficult as possible for Jews to visit the Mount, keep them waiting on long lines for hours before allowing them to enter, subject them to discriminatory searches and identification procedures, threaten them with arrest if they move their lips in prayer - and as can be seen in this film, do nothing when they are set upon by these mobs, other than push the Jews themselves off the Mount."As a leading figure in the campaign for equal Jewish prayer rights on the Temple Mount, this kind of harassment is something Rabbi Richman faces more often than most. But he says he isn't fazed; in fact, he sees he growing belligerence by Islamists as a positive sign that the Jewish people are reclaiming their holiest site after centuries of occupation."As someone who experiences this regularly, I do not find confrontation with these Muslim agitators to be frightening or even the least bit disturbing. On the contrary, I believe this phenomena is a sign that the Muslims themselves know that their days of domination on the Temple Mount are numbered."They scream when we ascend the Mount because they know that the master of the house is coming home!"
Netanyahu Told Obama to 'Check the Facts' Before Criticizing-Israeli radio reports unusually harsh criticism leveled by Israeli PM against Washington's own harsh criticism of Jerusalem building.By Ari Soffer-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 12:29 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly leveled unusually stern criticism of the White House's decision to criticize Israeli plans to build 1,610 homes in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem during his meeting with President Barack Obama.Israeli public radio quoted Netanyahu as telling Obama in talks in Washington Wednesday to "study the facts and details before making statements" about the building plan.Earlier Wednesday, Washington issued its own notably-harsh statement condemning the building in the Givat Hamatos neighborhood, with White House spokesman Josh Earnest warning that the move would "distance Israel from even its closest allies".Netanyahu's reported comments to Obama echoed similar statement he made to journalists following the meeting, in which he rejected US criticism as discriminatory." It’s worth learning the information properly before deciding to take a position like that," he said of the statement."As Prime Minister of Israel, I do not understand the criticism - Arabs in Jerusalem buy apartments and no one bothers them or rules them out. By the same token, I'm not going to say to Jews not to buy in Jerusalem, including in Silwan - we cannot have discrimination - this approach is unacceptable to me."It is the right of Jews to buy an apartment in Jerusalem - I stand firm by my decision, there will not be a situation where Jews will not be able to buy an apartment in Jerusalem," the prime minister reiterated. Netanyahu also clarified that the plans had in fact been in the pipeline for two years, and both government officials and Israeli rights NGOs have criticized the media storm over the building plans as politically-motivated.Meanwhile, Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) told Israeli army radio that 1,000 of the units - which are being built in a mixed Arab-Jewish area - would "go to Arabs," but did not elaborate.AFP contributed to this report.
Security Wall Completed to Protect Infiltration from Terrorists-The construction of a security wall near Sha'arei Tikva, at the point where thousands of illegal enter each month, has been completed.By Ido Ben-Porat and Cynthia Blank-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 8:21 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
The Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Defense Forces recently completed an additional security wall ten kilometers (six miles) in length near the town Sha'arei Tikva in western Samaria, Channel 2 reported. Approximately 5,000 illegal aliens attempt to enter Israeli territory near this area every month, including suicide bombers. Lior Farhi, the security chief of Sha'arei Tikva, was trampled to death here in 2012 in a hit-and-run accident by an Israeli man driving a van full of illegal Palestinian workers. Additionally, it was through this area that terrorists managed to lure and kidnap soldier Tomer Hazan in September 2013, subsequently killing him.The purpose of the wall is to significantly reduce infiltration into Israel. The IDF believes that due to the construction of the wall the number of illegals, who previously attempted to enter through the gap, will drop dramatically.
Why do Police Cover Up the Murder of Jews?'-Mother of Netanel Arami, believed to be murdered by Arabs, charges police of campaign of hushing up terrorist murder of her son and others.By Chaim Lev, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 10:19 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Miriam Arami, the bereaved mother of construction worker Netanel Arami hy''d who is thought to have been murdered by an Arab co-worker who cut both of his rapelling ropes, has accused the government of a campaign of covering up terrorist murderers.Hundreds protested in Bat Yam Wednesday night after police just this week - two weeks after the murder - reversed their claims of a work accident and admitted to suspicions that Arami was murdered, in a terror attack that caused him to fall 11 stories to his death. There have yet to be arrests in the case.Writing on a Facebook account opened by the family entitled "Netanel's Blood is All of Our Blood", Miriam connected the police attempt to cover up the case with similar cases. Those cases include the 2011 murder of Rabbi Moshe Talbi hy''d, only recognized as a terror victim three-and-a-half years after he was shot to death in a framed suicide; Asher Palmer and Yonatan hy''d, his less-than-a-year-old infant son, who were murdered in a rock attack on their car in 2011 and declared victims of terror a full week later; and Shelly Dadon hy''d, brutally stabbed to death by an Arab taxi driver in May and recognized as a terror victim over two-and-a-half months later.Miriam noted that Rabbi Talbi was only recognized as a terror victim "after a stubborn struggle by his family," and similarly Dadon was only recognized after a persistent struggle by the family. In the case of Palmer and his son, she noted that "despite the fact that Asher's pistol was stolen, and a large rock that hit him was found in the car, the police claimed it was a traffic accident and only after a struggle by the family retracted and called it a terror attack."The bereaved mother complained that also in the case of her son, they were victims not only to a murder but also to the "silencing of the murder.""And now our Netanel, the father of two children, who was murdered by a lowly terrorist that cut his rapelling lines in a moment - but the police issued a media gag order and investigated as if it was a work accident, and we need to struggle for Netanel and his young widow," wrote Miriam. The grieving mother added "how much longer can this situation continue? How much longer will we live in fear? Why do they silence the murder of Jews? Share these words so that the country shakes and Netanel will be the last victim."Police on Wednesday announced "dramatic developments" in the investigation of Arami's murder. The announcement for some brought to mind similar police statements made early in the investigation of Dadon's death.Arami leaves behind a pregnant wife and two small children.
Gaza Wants $4 Billion, But Did It Steal $700 Million?-'They did not give a cent to the people of Gaza. Hamas leaders took it all,' says Fatah spokesman. Are donors aware? Do they care? By Mark Langfan, Gil Ronen-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 9:53 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

The Palestinian Authority (PA) “unity government” has released a $4 billion reconstruction plan for Gaza ahead of the October 12 donor conference - but the donors would be well advised to peruse a recent Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) report featuring a TV interview on the PA's Al-Awda TV channel. In the segment, Fatah spokesman Ahmad Assaf accused Hamas leaders of illegally diverting money collected for the children of Gaza. The Fatah spokesman opined that international donors are right to be wary about wasting money on the reconstruction of Gaza: “The international players listen to the (Hamas) statements, and they have the right to ask: 'If we are on the verge of another war, why should we pay billions on the rebuilding of Gaza?'”Assaf went on to claim that during the latest Gaza war, “the Hamas leaders in Gaza received 700 million dollars. I take full responsibility for what I am saying. This figure is well documented, and we know the money sources.“Hamas collected money from all over the world. Where is it? We have seen televised fundraisers by Hamas supporters and allies, in which hundreds of millions were collected. Can anybody tell me where the money went?"“In the name of the blood of the children and the destruction of Gaza, Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood collected money all over the world. They received 700 million dollars, which went into the Gaza Strip, but they did not give a single cent to the people of Gaza. The Hamas leaders took it all.”With a population estimated at 1.8 million, a $4 billion aid package would mean that more than $2,200 would be paid for every single Gazan man, woman and child.

In addition, Israel will permit 500 Gaza residents over the age of 60 to visit relatives (first degree) in Judea and Samaria.Israel has also approved exports of agriculture, including fisheries, from Gaza to Judea and Samaria.Major General Yoav Mordechai, head of COGAT, updated senior officials in the Palestinian Authority and the international community regarding the measure, according to a COGAT statement. The COGAT announcement is confirmation of an announcement made Tuesday at a weekly Palestinian Authority (PA) unity government meeting. The move comes as part of a general increase in the number of Gaza residents allowed to travel into Judea and Samaria, a gesture in the ongoing ceasefire talks between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas, which are to resume in Cairo in the last week of October.Arab rioters have already been attacking police officers and Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, on a regular basis - last Wednesday ahead of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) that violence boiled over in wild riots. Jihad Group 'More Dangerous Than Al Qaeda' Joins ISIS-Leaders of Khorasan, Nusra Front faction and Al Qaeda splinter group, pledge loyalty to Islamic State and vow to attack America.By Dalit Halevy, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 5:48 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Five central leaders of Khorasan, a faction of the Al Qaeda-offshoot Nusra Front in Syria that has come in for particular targeting by US airstrikes, have sworn allegiance to Islamic State (ISIS) leader and "caliph" Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to jihadist websites. The leaders have pledged to act as soldiers for the "caliphate," namely the Islamic state ISIS has established in the areas of Syria and Iraq it has brutally conquered.Likewise, they have sworn to conduct armed jihad holy war against "tyrants, their collaborators, heads of apostasy, the United States and its satellite states."America intelligence has listed Khorasan as a danger even greater than Al Qaeda, saying it has threatened terrorist attacks in America and Europe, and specifically threatened to target international commercial airlines. In response, America has gone after the group in its airstrike campaign, announcing last Wednesday that it had taken out the head of the group, Musin al-Fadhli.In fact, Khorasan is not an independent organization, but rather rather a branch of Nusra Front, which as noted is linked to Al Qaeda - as was ISIS before it branched off into its own group.Khorasan is reported to be made up of veteran Al-Qaeda fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan who have traveled to Syria to join in the jihad against Syrian President Bashar Assad. In targeting the group, the American administration has been confronted by reports its strikes are killing Syrian civilians as well as terrorists. It responded last week by saying its policy to only conduct strikes when there is "near certainty" of no civilian deaths does not apply to the current US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria. The statement, justifying civilian casualties because they occur in an area of "active hostilities," may strike some as hypocritical given America's harsh criticism of Israel's defensive operation in Gaza targeting Hamas terrorists embedded in civilian populations.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly leveled unusually stern criticism of the White House's decision to criticize Israeli plans to build 1,610 homes in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem during his meeting with President Barack Obama.Israeli public radio quoted Netanyahu as telling Obama in talks in Washington Wednesday to "study the facts and details before making statements" about the building plan.Earlier Wednesday, Washington issued its own notably-harsh statement condemning the building in the Givat Hamatos neighborhood, with White House spokesman Josh Earnest warning that the move would "distance Israel from even its closest allies".Netanyahu's reported comments to Obama echoed similar statement he made to journalists following the meeting, in which he rejected US criticism as discriminatory." Additionally, it was through this area that terrorists managed to lure and kidnap soldier Tomer Hazan in September 2013, subsequently killing him.The purpose of the wall is to significantly reduce infiltration into Israel.

Israel Confirms Gazans will be Allowed to Pray on Temple Mount-As part of a series of gestures over the upcoming Eid al Adha holiday, 500 Gazans will be allowed to travel to Temple Mount.By Yishai Karov-First Publish: 10/2/2014, 5:43 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
The Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza (COGAT) on Wednesday evening announced that Gazans will be allowed to travel to Jerusalem for the upcoming Eid al Adha holiday, part of a series of measures decided upon by Israel for the benefit of Palestinian Arabs during the holiday. As part of the announced measures, the IDF decided to approve 500 family visits in Gaza to Palestinians residing in Judea and Samaria over the age of 60. 200 permits for travel abroad via the Ben Gurion Airport will be given out to Palestinian Arab businessmen.500 residents of Gaza, aged 60 and over, will be permitted entry to the Temple Mount complex for prayers on each day of the holiday. It has been revealed that Hamas has been actively fanning the violence and funding riots on the Temple Mount to create instability in Israel.
