JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

REVELATION 13:16-18
16 And he(THE FALSE POPE WHO DEFECTED FROM THE CHRISTIAN FAITH) causeth all,(IN THE WORLD ) both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:(MICROCHIP IMPLANT)
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark,(MICROCHIP IMPLANT) or the name of the beast,(WORLD DICTATORS NAME INGRAVED ON YOUR SKIN OR TATTOOED ON YOU OR IN THE MICROCHIP IMPLANT) or the number of his name.(THE NUMBERS OF HIS NAME INGRAVED IN THE MICROCHIP IMLPLANT)-(ALL THESE WILL TELL THE WORLD DICTATOR THAT YOUR WITH HIM AND AGAINST KING JESUS-GOD)
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast:(WORLD LEADER) for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.(6-6-6) A NUMBER SYSTEM (6006006)OR(60020202006)(SOME KIND OF NUMBER IMPLANTED IN THE MICROCHIP THAT TELLS THE WORLD DICTATOR AND THE NEW WORLD ORDER THAT YOU GIVE YOUR TOTAL ALLIGIENCE TO HIM AND NOT JESUS)(ITS AN ETERNAL DECISION YOU MAKE)(YOU CHOOSE YOUR OWN DESTINY)(YOU TAKE THE DICTATORS NAME OR NUMBER UNDER YOUR SKIN,YOUR DOOMED TO THE LAKE OF FIRE AND TORMENTS FOREVER,NEVER ENDING MEANT ONLY FOR SATAN AND HIS ANGELS,NOT HUMAN BEINGS).OR YOU REFUSE THE MICROCHIP IMPLANT AND GO ON THE SIDE OF KING JESUS AND RULE FOREVER WITH HIM ON EARTH.YOU CHOOSE,ITS YOUR DECISION.

Finland threatens summit deal over bailout fund

Today @ 09:23 JULY 3,12 By Valentina Pop
BRUSSELS - Finland is rejecting a just-agreed deal on letting the eurozone's permanent bailout fund (ESM) buy government bonds on the open market, a change meant to lower Italy and Spain's borrowing costs.

Markets' post-summit euphoria was dealt a blow on Monday (2 July) after a senior Finnish official briefed journalists in Helsinki about the government's position."Finland finds it an inefficient way to stabilise markets," the source was quoted as saying by several news wires.A report outlining the Finnish government's position delivered to the parliament on Monday said: "Due to intervention of Finland and, among others, the Netherlands, the possibility of ESM operations in the secondary markets was blocked."Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen came under fire from opposition MPs claiming that he had overstepped his mandate in agreeing to the deal struck at last week's summit in Brussels. Under the agreement, the ESM may eventually recapitalise banks directly and buy up bonds."The information war has been frenzied and they could have got the wrong idea," Katainen said. He noted that all these novelties would not come into force before a single supervisory authority for eurozone banks is established (a German condition)."In that case, it will be possible, if there is unanimous agreement, to capitalize banks directly. And in exchange, owners would lose their money and the (bailout fund) would gain holdings in the banks," he explained.A spokesman for the EU commission on Monday explained that unanimity of the 17 countries in the eurozone - represented on the ESM board - is required for the changes to come into force.

Dutch opposition too

The Netherlands meanwhile also signalled it would oppose bond-purchasing action on the secondary markets where bonds are traded freely, as opposed to primary markets where buyers trade with governments directly.“The Prime Minister said on 29 June he is not in favour of buying up bonds. Using the existing instruments to buy up bonds will be expensive and can only be done if there is unanimity. That means the Netherlands would need to vote in favour," Niels Redeker, a spokesman for the Dutch finance ministry said.In last week's conclusions, eurozone leaders, including the Finnish and Dutch, said they had agreed to deploy the existing and future bailout funds "in a flexible and efficient manner in order to stabilise markets" for countries that are not bailed out but that are experience market pressure - a clear reference to Italy.Under existing rules, the temporary bailout fund (EFSF) can be used to buy up bonds on secondary markets, following a request by a country which then signs up to a memorandum of understanding outlining the deadlines for the economic reforms it has to pursue. The only concession Italy gained from Germany, who opposed any relaxation of those rules, was for the International Monetary Fund not to be involved. But Finland and the Netherlands are sceptical that the bailout fund, which has only €240 billion left, out of which €100 are earmarked for Spain's banks, contain enough money to prop Italy. They also do not want to see the ESM - which is yet not in force and which should have €200bn lending power by the end of the year - bogged down in billions of expensive debt purchasing.

UN agrees to new Syria plan

02.07.12 @ 09:28 By Nikolaj Nielsen
BRUSSELS - Foreign ministers, including China and Russia, agreed Saturday (30 June) in Geneva to a new United Nations peace plan that calls upon the immediate cessation of violence in Syria and for “clear and irreversible steps” towards a transitional government. The internationally-backed UN plan made no specific reference to the stepping down of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. The new transitional government, notes the UN document, would instead include by “mutual consent” members of the present government and the opposition.Russia and China continue to oppose any direct intervention but the new proposal may leave open the possibility for Assad’s removal, claim both UK and French foreign ministers.“Even if they say the opposite, the fact that the text says specifically that there will be a transitional government with all powers means it won't be Bashar al-Assad … because it will be people that are agreed to by mutual consent,” said French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius. The transitional plan says a political agreement must offer a clear timetable. It also states the transition needs to be rapid and “genuinely democratic and pluralistic”. Elections would occur once a new constitutional order has been drafted and accepted by the Syrians, says the plan.
The Geneva plan also calls upon the Syrian government to release people who have been arbitrarily detained, allow in humanitarian organisations, ensure the freedom of movement of journalists, and respect the freedom of association and the right to demonstrate. The Guardian newspaper reports opposition inside Syria is disappointed with the new Geneva proposal, calling it “ambiguous” and “a waste of time”.Meanwhile, the EU’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said in a statement the agreement “offers concrete points for action and I hope it will help bring about an end to violence and launch a political process in Syria and led by Syrians.”An estimated 16,000 people have so far lost their lives in an uprising that started around 15 months ago. Some 800 died last week alone, according to activists.Syrian government forces on Saturday reportedly broke past rebel resistance in Douma, an opposition-stronghold in the suburbs of Damascus.
An ITV News correspondent in Syria said on Friday warplanes were dropping bombs on the city. Reuters reports local residents spotted a convoy of some 200 government troops entering the district the following day.

Turkey sends fighter jets

Ministers backing Saturday's UN proposal, including Turkey’s minister, oppose militarisation and any escalation to the conflict. But on Sunday, Turkey scrambled six F-16 fighter jets near its 800 km border with Syria. Syrian military helicopters had come within 6.5 km of entering Turkey’s airspace.Turkey on Friday also deployed rocket launchers and anti-aircraft guns along the border. Syria had downed a Turkish F-4 Phantom jet on 22 June.Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said any Syrian military aircraft approaching its border would be seen and treated as a threat. He described Syria as a “clear and present threat”.

OZONE DEPLETION JUDGEMENT ON THE EARTH DUE TO SIN

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Quick facts on how the storms, extreme heat are affecting people across the eastern US

Millions are staring down the prospect of several more days without electricity in the middle of a heat wave after severe storms over the weekend.Food is beginning to spoil, and many people have to charge modern conveniences like cellphones in their cars or at libraries. Utility companies say they are bringing in crews from around the country to help, but they still say it could be several days before everyone has electricity again.
By Sunday evening, the number of those without power had dipped to about 2.7 million customers, down from more than 3 million at the peak of the outages.
DEATHS
Authorities have confirmed at least 17 deaths related to the storms that swept across the eastern U.S. Deaths have been reported in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Kentucky and Ohio.
POWER OUTAGES
About 545,000 were without power in Maryland; 643,000 in Virginia; 318,000 in Washington, D.C., and some surrounding areas; 600,000 in Ohio; 460,000 in West Virginia; and 122,000 in New Jersey.
HEAT
By Sunday night, just under 2.7 million people were sweltering through a second day of extreme heat, with temperatures approaching or exceeding 100 degrees in many areas. Forecasters are warning people to stay inside, avoid direct sun and drink plenty of fluids.

For parts of the nation, drought and wildfire fears mean a fireworks-free Fourth of July

DENVER - Drought and wildfire fears are snuffing out some Fourth of July festivities this year.
From Utah to Indiana, state and local governments are calling off annual fireworks displays out of fear that a stray rocket could ignite tinder-dry brush and trigger a wildfire. They're also warning residents not to use fireworks, sparklers or Roman candles in backyards. The worry is especially acute in the West, where crews are already battling out-of-control blazes in several states. Parts of the Midwest are affected, too, after weeks without any significant rain."We usually have a fireworks barge and a huge gala that attracts thousands of people," said Bill Appleby of the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, which represents the lakeside resort town about 90 miles northwest of Denver in the Rocky Mountains. The display is usually safe out on the water, but "we just can't risk an errant ember."It's not uncommon for communities to delay or cancel fireworks shows because of drought conditions, but this year, the practice is more widespread.
Last year, about a third of the country was in drought. Now nearly three-quarters is, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor map, a weekly analysis of dryness across the nation. The parched conditions have been aggravated by a dry, mild winter and above-normal temperatures.Fires have charred more than 1.8 million acres this year in the U.S., and much of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana have been under red-flag warnings for extreme fire danger. In Colorado, where hundreds of homes have been destroyed by flames in the past month, firefighters have said they don't have the time or resources to stand watch over public events. At least nine public fireworks displays have been called off.Montana hasn't called for an end to big displays yet, but Gov. Brian Schweitzer is urging people not to set off their own fireworks and has left the door open to cancelling public shows.Officials have also cancelled displays or issued warnings restricting private fireworks in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Utah and Wisconsin."Nobody wants to not have fireworks," said Chris Magnuson of Albion, Ind., a town of about 2,300 that postponed its annual July 4 fireworks show to Labor Day weekend after county officials banned outdoor burning. "It's just not safe enough."The danger is real: Fireworks were blamed for more than 15,500 blazes and $36 million in property damage in 2010, according to the National Fire Protection Association in Quincy, Mass.
States have also clamped down on all kinds of outdoor fire hazards, including campfires, smoking and use of portable grills.Paul Forman, who owns Independence Fireworks and Forman Blasters Pyrotechnics in Peru, Ind., said he understands the safety concerns, but his business has been devastated. Four customers called off fireworks shows this week, and he anticipated more cancellations before the holiday. He said his business had dropped from about 50 customers a day to a total of 11."This emergency order hit me like a two-by-four," Forman said.Forman was going to deliver the fireworks in Bunker Hill, Ind., which had scheduled a show Saturday night following a parade, a picnic and the local Little League championships. Instead, Little League officials in the town of 900 about 60 miles north of Indianapolis cancelled the show because of the fire risk.Carol Russell had been looking forward to taking her family to the fireworks show. Her kids — three teens and a 9-year-old — are growing up, and she said this might be the last year they thought the display was cool."Tradition is a big deal for us. It's like a big bubble burst," Russell said. Some states are grappling with just how far they can go in issuing bans. New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez said she considers fireworks a risk that can be avoided, but state law allows cities and counties to ban only certain classifications of fireworks and where they can be used. More than half of the state's 33 counties and its largest cities have already imposed restrictions and urged residents to attend organized events instead of setting off their own."We should all be able to agree that preventing fires that could devastate our communities is a priority that transcends politics," said Martinez, who plans to push legislation again next year that would establish a system allowing for specially tailored temporary bans during extreme droughts.
Leaders of the fireworks industry, which brought in nearly $1 billion in sales nationally in 2011, question whether firework bans are legal. Steve Graves, executive director of the Indiana Fireworks Association, said people should be given credit for common sense.Indiana law allows fireworks from June 29 to July 9 regardless of whether local burn bans are in place. Some communities have declared drought disaster emergencies to enact bans in an attempt to get around the law."Instead of talking about safety, they decided to treat Hoosiers like they're a bunch of idiots that can't think for themselves," Graves said.At the TNT Fireworks stand just outside Helena, Mont., some customers planned to heed the calls to keep their fireworks under wraps for July Fourth, said stand co-owner Anna Richards."Would I rather make money or would I rather see Montana burn?" Richards said. "There's more to life than these two weeks."___

STORMS HURRICANES-TORNADOES

LUKE 21:25-26
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity;(MASS CONFUSION) the sea and the waves roaring;(FIERCE WINDS)
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

THE FIRST JUDGEMENT OF THE EARTH STARTED WITH WATER-IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THE LAST GENERATION WILL BE HAVING FLOODING
GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

REVELATION 16:10-11
10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

At least 18 dead after US storms cut power in East

WASHINGTON (AP) — Millions of people in a swath of states along the East Coast and farther west went into a third sweltering day without power Monday after a round of summer storms that killed more than a dozen people. The outages left many to contend with stifling homes and spoiled food over the weekend as temperatures approached or exceeded 100 degrees.Around 2 million customers from North Carolina to New Jersey and as far west as Illinois were without power Monday morning. And utility officials said the power would likely be out for several more days. Since Friday, severe weather has been blamed for at least 18 deaths, most from trees falling on homes and cars. The power outages had prompted concerns of traffic problems as commuters took to roads with darkened stoplights. But throughout northern Virginia, there was less traffic than normal in many places Monday as federal workers took advantage of liberal leave that was put in place for the day.To alleviate traffic congestion around Baltimore and Washington, federal and state officials gave many workers the option of staying home Monday. Maryland's governor also gave state workers wide leeway for staying out of the office."It was less traffic," said D.C. resident Rob Lavender, who commuted to Arlington County from the district. "It's more hectic on a regular day."There were scattered stoplight outages and some transit delays for Maryland commuters headed into Washington."It was a mess," said Jason Lynch, a 23-year-old Energy Department software developer. He counted at least three malfunctioning stoplights during his two-mile bus ride from Colesville to the Glenmont stop on Washington's Metro subway system."The light coming out of my neighborhood was blinking red, and it was blinking yellow for the main direction of traffic," he said. "People would still get confused. At the yellow light, they would stop and let people at the red light go, and the people behind them would honk at them."There were more than 400 signal outages in Maryland on Monday, including more than 330 in hard-hit Montgomery County outside the nation's capital, according to the State Highway Administration. There were 100 signal outages in northern Virginia late Sunday afternoon, and 65 roads were closed, although most were secondary roads.
"If you have to drive or need to drive, leave yourself a lot of extra time," Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman Charlie Gischlar said. "There's going to be delays."Some drivers resorted to ingenuity to get to work. On a residential street in suburban Falls Church, Va., just outside Washington, downed trees blocked the road on either side. Neighbors used chain saws to cut a makeshift path on one side, but the other remained completely blocked by a massive oak tree."They kind of forgot about us out here," resident Eric Nesson said.Still, residents took the aggravation with good humor. Posted on the oak tree was a sign saying: "Free firewood you haul." The tree lay across a smashed Ford pickup truck, with a sign reading: "For SALE. Recently lowered."Meanwhile, Coast Guard officials say they have suspended the search for a man who disappeared early Saturday while boating during the storm off Maryland. On Sunday night in North Carolina, a 77-year-old man was killed when strong winds collapsed a Pitt County barn where he was parking an all-terrain vehicle, authorities said. In neighboring Beaufort County, a couple was killed when a tree fell on the golf cart they were driving. Officials said trees fell onto dozens of houses, and two hangars were destroyed at an airport in Beaufort County. The damage was mostly blamed on straight-line winds, which are strong gusts pushed ahead of fast-moving thunderstorms like a wall of wind.
Elsewhere, at least six of the dead were killed in Virginia, including a 90-year-old woman asleep in her bed when a tree slammed into her home. Two young cousins in New Jersey were killed when a tree fell on their tent while camping. Two were killed in Maryland, one in Ohio, one in Kentucky and one in Washington.
In West Virginia, authorities said one person died early Sunday when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding hit a tree that had fallen over a road. For survivors, it was a challenge to stay cool over the weekend.
From Atlanta to Baltimore, temperatures approached or exceeded triple digits. Atlanta set a record with a high of 105 degrees, while the temperature hit 99 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport just outside the nation's capital. With no air conditioning, officials urged residents to check on their elderly relatives and neighbors. It was tough to find a free pump at gas stations that did have power, and lines of cars snaked around fast-food drive-thrus.Power crews from as far away as Florida and Oklahoma were on their way to the mid-Atlantic region to help get the power back on and the air conditioners running again. Even if people have generators, the gas-run devices often don't have enough power to operate an air conditioner.
And power restoration was spotty: Several people interviewed by The Associated Press said they remained without power even though the lights were on at neighbors' homes across the street. In Maryland, Gov. O'Malley promised he would push utility companies to get electricity restored as quickly as possible.
"No one will have his boot further up Pepco's and BGE's backsides than I will," O'Malley said Sunday afternoon, referring to the two main utilities serving Maryland.___Associated Press writers Matthew Barakat in Falls Church, Va.; Jessica Gresko in Waldorf, Md.; Stacy A. Second death confirmed in Colorado Springs wildfire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Reuters) - Authorities have found a second body in the debris of a burned-out home in Colorado Springs, marking the second fatality from a fierce wildfire that ranks as Colorado's most destructive on record after incinerating 347 homes, police said.
Police Chief Peter Carey released no further details about the victim, who becomes the sixth person killed this year in a Colorado wildfire season described by the governor as the worst in the state's history. The discovery came on the same day that President Barack Obama visited the affected area.

Iran says test-fires missiles over threats of attack

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran said on Tuesday it had successfully tested medium-range missiles capable of hitting Israel in response to threats of military action against the country, Iranian media reported.Israel says it could attack Iran if diplomacy fails to force it to halt its disputed nuclear energy program. The United States also has military force as a possible option but U.S. officials have repeatedly encouraged the Israelis to be patient while new economic sanctions are implemented against Iran. The Islamic Republic announced the "Great Prophet 7" missile exercise on Sunday after a European embargo against Iranian crude oil purchases took full effect following another fruitless round of big power talks with Tehran.Iran's official English-language Press TV said the Shahab 3 missile with a range of 1,300 km (800 miles) - able to reach Israel - was tested along with the shorter-range Shahab 1 and 2 and other missile classes."The main aim of this drill is to demonstrate the Iranian nation's political resolve to defend vital values and national interests," Revolutionary Guards Deputy Commander Hossein Salami was quoted by Press TV as saying. He said the tests were in response to Iran's enemies who talk of a "military option being on the table"."The maneuvers are an answer to the rude words spoken against Iran," Fars news agency quoted him as saying.Analysts have challenged some of Iran's military assertions, saying it often exaggerates its capabilities.Senior researcher Pieter Wezeman of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said Iran's missiles were still relatively inaccurate and of limited use in conventional warfare. With conventional warheads, "their only utility is as a tool of terror and no more than that," he said by telephone. He added, however, that they could be suitable for carrying nuclear warheads, especially the larger ones.Another think-tank, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said in a 2010 report that all of Tehran's ballistic missiles were "inherently capable of a nuclear payload", if Iran was able to make a small enough bomb.Iran denies Western accusations that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons capability. The world's No. 5 oil exporter maintains that it is enriching uranium only to generate more energy for a rapidly growing population.
UNMANNED DRONE TESTS WEDNESDAY
Fars said dozens of missiles involved in this week's exercises had been aimed at simulated air bases and that Iranian-built unmanned drones would be tested on Wednesday.Iran repeated its claim it is reverse-engineering the sophisticated U.S. RQ-170 drone that it says it brought down during a spying mission last year."In this drone there are hundreds of technologies used, each of which are valuable to us in terms of operations, information and technicalities," General Amir Hajizadeh was quoted by the ISNA news agency as saying.Tehran regularly states its claimed military dominance in the Gulf and has jangled nerves across the oil industry, which is concerned about any disruption in global crude supplies.Iran has previously threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, through which passes more than a third of the world's seaborne oil trade, in response to increasingly harsh sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.Wezeman said Iran had a large standing armed force, but that its weapons were generally outdated. "And those weapons only get older and older and they don't have access to new technology because they are under a United Nations arms embargo."In his first comments since the European Union oil ban took force, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said sanctions would benefit Iran by lessening its dependent on crude exports."We must see the sanctions as an opportunity ... and which can forever take out of the enemy's hands the ability to use oil as a weapon for sanctions," Fars news agency quoted him as saying. The EU embargo aims at pushing Iran to curb uranium enrichment that Western countries say is aimed at developing an atomic weapons capability.
On Monday, a group of Iranian parliamentarians proposed a bill calling for country to try to stop oil tankers shipping crude through the Strait of Hormuz to countries that support sanctions against it.However, the Iranian parliament is relatively weak, analysts say, and the proposal has no chance of becoming law unless sanctioned by Iran's clerical supreme leader. That is seen as unlikely in the near term given that Western powers have said they would tolerate no closure of the Strait while Iranian leaders, wedded to strategic pragmatism for the sake of survival, have said they seek no war with anyone.(Additional reporting by Yeganeh Torbati in Dubai and Fredrik Dahl in Vienna)

Russia's Medvedev angers Japan with island visit

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, Russia (Reuters) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday landed on a remote island chain seized from Japan by the Soviet Union at the end of World War Two, prompting protests from Tokyo which lays claim to the windswept archipelago.Medvedev's trip to the disputed islands in Russia's Far East - known as the Southern Kuriles in Russia but as the Northern Territories in Japan - saw Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summon Russia's envoy to complain.
"(This) is a territory inherent to Japan, therefore the visit of this kind is unacceptable for Japan and deeply regrettable," Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kenichiro Sasae told Russian Ambassador Yevgenny Afanasiyev. The islands lie off Russia's eastern coast, some 7,000 km (4,350 miles) from Moscow, and the island of Kunashir, where Medvedev landed, is a mere 15 km away from Japan's northern island of Hokkaido. Moscow's plans to boost investment in the region's infrastructure and industry have angered Tokyo."The islands of the Kuriles are ... our territory which should develop just like the mainland of our country," Medvedev told reporters in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk before departing by plane to Kunashir.
"We have to develop new investment projects including those with the participation of foreign firms."
Medvedev visited a fishery and said he planned to speak with members of the local government.
He was the first Russian leader to visit the islands during a trip as president in 2010. After that visit, he promised to bolster an artillery division deployed on the islands.Russia has dedicated new funds and political attention to boost Moscow's presence in the country's vast but sparsely populated Far East in advance of an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vladivostok in September.Since Vladimir Putin's return to the presidency this year, it has also created a new ministry of the Far East, whose chief Viktor Ishayev traveled with Medvedev to the island chain along with the Minister of Regional Development Oleg Govorun.
TERRITORIAL ISSUE
Japan, which said Medvedev's trip had put a "damper" on a positive atmosphere between Japan and Russia, is planning to send the foreign minister to Moscow this summer to "revive" talks on the territorial issue.
Plans for that visit were firmed up after a meeting between Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Mexico last month.
Russia's Chief-of-Staff Nikolai Makarov has said Russia may send Mistral-class helicopter carriers it is buying from France to the Pacific to help protect the islands though some analysts believe the move is actually aimed at boosting the country's defenses against the rising strength of neighboring China.
Unlike Japan's dispute with China over islands in the East China Sea, which are near potentially vast maritime oil and gas reserves, the feud with Russia has more to do with the legacy of World War Two.
Soviet soldiers seized the islands at the end of World War Two and the territorial row has weighed on diplomatic relations between the countries ever since, precluding a formal peace treaty.
The dispute remains an emotional one in Russia, especially in nationalist circles.

Iran, Hezbollah 'to defend Syria from attack'

Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah and Iran will fight alongside the Syrian regime if it is attacked by foreign forces, a pro-Damascus Palestinian militant leader said on Tuesday. In the event of "a foreign attack, we discussed with our brothers (in the Syrian regime), with (Hezbollah chief) Hassan Nasrallah and our brothers in Iran, we will be part of this battle," said Ahmed Jibril of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command. In an interview with Beirut-based Mayadeen television, Jibril said that if a "Turkish-European alliance or NATO escalate... we will take to the streets and fight on behalf of all those with honour and our Syrian brothers."Jibril also cited Nasrallah as saying Hezbollah would fight on behalf of the Syrian regime, and described the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah alliance as "one axis" that the PFLP-GC is part of.
He added that he met recently with Nasrallah, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, without specifying when.He also noted that the Hezbollah chief "said he would join this battle, in the event of a foreign attack" on Syria. The Iranian regime, he said, told him it would not allow a strike on Syria. "We have warned the Turks several times not to play with fire," Jibril said.Echoing the Syrian regime's discourse, the PFLP-GC chief said the 16-month uprising against Assad was not a genuine local movement, but rather "a change in the foundations of this region in order to create a new Middle East," referring to a term coined in 2006 by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.Jibril described the defence of the Syrian regime as "a decisive battle." Victory would be necessary, he said, in order to "defeat the American and Zionist projects."The PFLP-GC is a radical Palestinian faction that is based in Damascus.

Syrian army attacks rebels, Turkey scrambles F16s

BEIRUT (Reuters) - The Syrian army pressed attacks on rebels on Tuesday, bombarding the city of Douma near Damascus, and Turkey said it had scrambled F-16 fighters the previous day after Syrian helicopters flew near its border.Turkey's armed forces command said the jets took off on Monday when Syrian transport helicopters were spotted flying near the frontier, without entering Turkish air space. It was the third day in a row that Turkey had scrambled its F-16s.Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told a Turkish daily he wished his forces had not shot down a Turkish jet last month and that he would not allow tensions with Turkey to lead to war.The downing of the Turkish F4 in disputed circumstances has aggravated hostility between Damascus and Ankara, which has raised its military profile to try to keep Syrian helicopters from Turkey's border zone where rebels and refugees are camped."We learned it belonged to Turkey after shooting it down. I say 100 percent 'if only we had not shot it down'," Turkey's Cumhuriyet daily quoted Assad as saying.A Syrian general and 84 soldiers were the latest to defect and flee to Turkey on Monday. But army and government defections have so far failed to shake Assad's 12-year grip on power.More violence erupted on Tuesday in a 16-month conflict that opposition leaders say has killed more than 15,000 people."There was heavy shelling all morning, now it has calmed down a bit but the siege of the city continues," said Abu Rami, an opposition activist in Homs, which has borne the brunt of an army onslaught on rebel strongholds."We are living with little food and little water," he said. The army shelled towns and villages near Douma to which the embattled city's residents had fled at the weekend, according to Omar Hamzeh, spokesman for the revolutionary council of rural Damascus. He said at least six people had been killed.Syrian helicopters bombarded Douma on Monday, activists said.
STUTTERING DIPLOMACY
Diplomacy has so far failed to stem the bloodshed. World powers agreed at the weekend to back talks on a transitional government. But they failed to narrow differences between the West and Russia over Western demands that Assad must go.Turkey, which has long demanded the Syrian leader's removal, said Assad could play no part in a transitional government, but suggested the Syrian opposition would do well to accept envoy Kofi Annan's internationally endorsed proposal."Our task is not to pressure the opposition or to persuade them of something," Davutoglu told Sky News Arabia in Cairo, where opposition groups were meeting for a second day.He said Annan's mediation role meant the opposition would not have to negotiate with Assad under the transition plan."Thus I believe that accepting the Geneva statement would be a positive thing from the opposition," he said, according to an Arabic transcript of his remarks provided by Sky News Arabia. His Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, said Syrian opposition leaders would hold talks in Moscow next week, but it was not clear if they would include any from the mainstream Syrian National Council (SNC) backed by the West and Turkey."We will use this coming meeting with yet another Syrian opposition group to continue work to end violence and start Syrian dialogue between the government and all groups of the Syrian opposition as soon as possible," Lavrov said.Neither Assad nor those trying to topple him have shown much interest in peaceful compromise. Instead, they seem to be digging in for a winner-take-all struggle as Syria slides deeper into a civil war with sectarian overtones.Syria's chief of staff, General Fahd Jassem al-Freij, said the nation was at war with conspirators seeking its destruction. The official news agency SANA quoted him as saying Syria had dealt positively with all Arab and international initiatives to find a settlement, but its enemies had replied with escalation on the ground, coupled with media frenzy to disrupt normal life.
TORTURE "ARCHIPELAGO"
The rebel Free Syrian Army, spearheading the armed struggle against Assad, has boycotted the SNC gathering in Cairo, where the Arab League was urging Islamist and secular groups to end their quarrels and form a credible alternative authority.Syrian opposition leaders have said Assad's removal must be the starting point for any resolution to the conflict because of the suffering he has inflicted on the Syrian people.New York-based Human Rights Watch issued a report on "an archipelago" of Syrian state torture centers, citing accounts of victims who said they were beaten, burned with acid, sexually assaulted or had their fingernails torn out.A meeting in Paris on Friday of the "Friends of Syria" grouping may see the United States come under pressure from Gulf Arab hawks, notably Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to do more to help the rebels, and from Turkey to play a bigger role.Washington has long worried about the wisdom of backing Syria's opposition, which it sees as ill-organized, disparate and much too close to al Qaeda-linked militants.
"We're concerned about pouring more weapons into an already over-militarized situation," U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said on Monday. "We've made our decision."U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay warned the same day that arms supplies to the rebels and the government were aggravating the conflict.(Additional reporting by Erika Solomon in Beirut, Sami Aboudi in Dubai, and Jonathan Burch and Jon Hemming in Ankara, Daren Butler in Istanbul and; Gabriela Baczynska in Moscow; Writing by Douglas Hamilton and Alistair Lyon; Editing by Mark Heinrich)(This story has been refied to restore dropped word "diplomacy" in the twelfth paragraph)

Russia to miss next Friends of Syria talks: France FM

Russia will not attend a Friends of Syria meeting in Paris on Friday which seeks to co-ordinate Western and Arab efforts to stop the violence in the country, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said."Russia was invited. They made it known that they did not want to participate, which is not a surprise," he told reporters.
Russia, a traditional ally of Syria, and China did not attend previous meetings of the group. The Paris meeting will be the third such gathering after one in Tunis in February and another in April in Istanbul called for tougher action against the Assad regime. The United States, France, Britain, Germany, and Arab nations Saudi Arabia and Qatar are leading members of the Friends, whose more than 60 members include most of the EU states and many countries making up the Arab League.Russia has been under sustained pressure from the West to publicly call for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to quit amid a spiralling conflict that has claimed 15,000 lives, but Moscow has rejected imposing any outside solution.Moscow on Tuesday accused the West of seeking to "distort" an agreement reached last weekend in Geneva on a plan for a political transition to end the conflict.Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hailed the accord based on proposals by envoy Kofi Annan as an "important step" but said that Western capitals had already read more into the final statement than what was written on paper. His comments came just after Annan's spokesman told reporters that a "shift" in positions by Russia and its diplomatic ally China at the Geneva talks should not be underestimated.

Russia accuses West of distorting Geneva Syria accord

Russia on Tuesday accused the West of seeking to "distort" the agreement reached last weekend in Geneva on a plan for a political transition to end the escalating conflict in Syria.Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hailed the accord based on proposals by envoy Kofi Annan as an "important step" but said that Western capitals had already read more into the final statement than what was written on paper."Unfortunately... some Western participants have started in their public statements to distort the agreements that were reached" in Geneva, he told reporters at a news conference with his Vietnamese counterpart."These (Geneva) agreements are not there to be interpreted. They mean exactly what is said in the communique and we need to follow the agreements that were made," Lavrov added."Our (Russian) position is honest and we are not trying to make it seem more than what is written in the text."His comments came just after Annan's spokesman Ahmad Fawzi told reporters Tuesday that a "shift" in positions by Russia and its diplomatic ally China at the Geneva talks should not be underestimated.World powers on Saturday agreed a plan for a transition in Syria which did not make an explicit call for President Bashar al-Assad to quit power. However the West swiftly made clear it saw no role for Assad in a unity government."The consensus that was reached in Geneva was a very important step in the consolidation in the positions of all members of the international community... towards solving this problem peacefully and refusing to use military force from whatever side," Lavrov said. But he complained that the Syrian opposition had also come out with statements after the meeting that "the decisions of Geneva are unacceptable."Russia has been under sustained pressure from the West to publicly call for Assad to quit amid a spiralling conflict that has already claimed over 15,000 lives but Moscow has rejected imposing any outside solution.Lavrov said that a Syrian opposition delegation was expected in Moscow next week -- and not this week as previously planned -- in a bid to encourage an end to the violence and the start of dialogue. He did not give further details about the composition of the delegation.

WARN THE PEOPLE

EZEKIEL 33:1-6
1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2  Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3  If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4  Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5  He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6  But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

China kicks off reshuffle ahead of leadership handover

BEIJING (Reuters) - China kicked off the first major step in a political reshuffle ahead of a generational leadership change with the appointment on Tuesday of a new Communist Party boss for Beijing, the Chinese capital's top official.Guo Jinlong, 64, the city's mayor since 2008 and an ally of President Hu Jintao, replaces Liu Qi, 69, as Beijing party boss, in a decision announced at the end of the municipal party congress.
"We are keenly aware of our difficult task and grave responsibility," Guo told reporters. "We must strive to deliver satisfactory results for all the people of Beijing."The appointment will allow Hu to retain some political influence after he leaves office. He must retire from running the party later this year and from the presidency in early 2013.Reuters reported last month that Guo was the favorite for the position.Guo is now expected to be a shoo-in to join the party's decision-making Politburo during the leadership change at the 18th national party congress later this year.President Hu has not made public his plans for retirement but, unlike in the West where former presidents and prime ministers tend to fade from the public eye, Chinese leaders seek to maintain influence to avoid possible adverse political repercussions.Hu, 69, is widely expected to hand the top job in the party to Vice President Xi Jinping during the national congress and will start promoting other allies to important posts before retiring.Beijing's new mayor will be deputy party boss Wang Anshun, 54, two sources with ties to the leadership told Reuters on condition of anonymity.Wang is an economist previously in charge of law and order in the city. The party boss outranks the mayor.Guo was party chief of President Hu's ancestral province of Anhui in central China from 2004 to 2007.Guo was considered a moderate when he served as deputy party boss of Tibet from 1993 to 2000 and as party boss from 2000 to 2004. Hu was party boss of the Himalayan region from 1988 to 1992.The Politburo has 24 members after Bo Xilai - former party boss in Chongqing and a leadership contender - had his membership suspended in April in a scandal that attracted worldwide attention.Bo's lieutenant - Chongqing vice mayor and police chief Wang Lijun - briefly sought refuge at the U.S. consulate in nearby Chengdu in February and implicated Bo's wife in the murder of British businessman and Bo family friend Neil Heywood over a financial dispute.

Lebanon: Israel explodes its spy devices in south

BEIRUT (AP) — Israel has remotely detonated three spying devices in south Lebanon, the Lebanese army said Tuesday. The explosions occurred Monday evening in the village of Zrariye, north of the Litani river, which runs through southern Lebanon, the army said. The militant Hezbollah group said it discovered the devices before their detonation and hailed that as a major achievement, accusing Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty. The Lebanese army said in a statement published on its website that it was investigating the incident. It gave no details of exactly what the devices were supposed to do or how long they had been there. The Israeli military declined to comment.Lebanese and U.N. officials have accused Israel in the past of detonating similar spy devices planted in south Lebanon, where Hezbollah guerrillas operate. Hezbollah and Israel, bitter enemies, fought a fierce monthlong war in 2006.Lebanese officials claim that Israel regularly recruits spies in Lebanon and has penetrated the nation's telecommunications networks. Israel does not comment on the allegations. The two countries have been in a formal state of war since Israel was created in 1948. In Lebanon, spying for or collaborating with Israel can be punishable by death.Lebanon has arrested dozens of alleged collaborators in the past few years, including several people working in the telecommunications industry.

Israel's Netanyahu faces coalition crisis

JERUSALEM (AP) — A fierce debate over how to draft religious men into the Israeli military has sparked the first crisis in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's newly expanded coalition government. The government is racing to draw up a new draft law ahead of a court-ordered Aug. 1 deadline. The Supreme Court has ruled the current system, which exempts ultra-Orthodox men from mandatory military service, is illegal.
On Monday, Netanyahu disbanded a parliamentary committee working on a new draft law due to deep disagreements among its members. Ultra-Orthodox parties oppose any change in the current system.
Netanyahu's decision led his largest coalition partner, Kadima, to threaten to leave the government. Kadima only joined the coalition in May with the goal of reforming the current draft system.Kadima's leader, Shaul Mofaz, angrily accused Netanyahu of breaking agreements that had drawn him into the government. He said that the disbanded committee, led by a Kadima lawmaker, would still issue its recommendations this week, and that if Netanyahu did not take the "necessary step" of using the report as the basis for a new draft system, "the national unity government will come to an end."An Israeli official said that Netanyahu was working behind the scenes to resolve the standoff. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter with the media, said Netanyahu planned a series of meetings with coalition partners this week in search of a solution. He said Netanyahu remains committed to key principles worked out with Kadima: Ensuring that all sectors of Israeli society perform national service; making sure that changes are implemented gradually; and maintaining national unity. The issue of draft exemptions is among the most divisive in Israeli society.Under a longstanding system, Israel allows ultra-Orthodox males to skip otherwise mandatory military service in order to pursue religious studies. These exemptions, initially reserved for several hundred religious scholars, have ballooned and now apply to tens of thousands of religious men of military age.The exemptions have bred widespread resentment among Israel's secular majority, which argues that it is bearing an unfair burden. The disbanded committee had also been looking for ways to get Israel's Arab minority to do a civilian national service.Israeli Arabs are not required to serve in the military, but the panel had aimed to incorporate Arabs into a civilian alternative in its goal to bring about more equality. Two committee members had resigned in recent days after concluding that the panel was backing down on forcing Arabs into national service.

Ariel Sharon mistakenly declared dead

Ariel Sharon, the former prime minister of Israel who has been in a coma for the last five years, was mistakenly declared dead on Sunday over a social media network, Haaretz news reported. Former Secretary-General of NATO and former European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana sent a message over the Twitter network that Sharon had passed away. But Sharon remains alive, though he is in a vegetative state.Watchers are interested in Ariel Sharon’s state of health because of a vision reportedly given to a Jewish rabbi a few years back.Rabbi Yitzchak Kaduri, a venerated Jewish rabbi who died in 2006 at the age of 108, had a vision of who the Messiah was. Rabbi Kaduri left a note that was to be opened a year after his death. When the note was opened, the note gave the Hebrew name of the Messiah as Yeshua, who we know to be Jesus. In addition, the rabbi left a prophecy that the Messiah would come after the death of Ariel Sharon.During his tanure as the Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon orchestrated the unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip. In August 2005, against the emotionally charged protests of many Israelis, PM Sharon ordered the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to forcefully evict Israelis from their homes in the Gaza Strip. The result was the armed forces of Israel physically removing their own people from their homes in order to give their entire life’s work and their very communities over to the Palestinians. Not only was this decision by Mr. Sharon against the will of his own people but was also against that of the God of Israel. Ariel Sharon gave away God’s Covenant land which was given only to the children of Israel. Some people are of opinion that the former prime minister may be paying the price for that very action of his. However, there may also be another reason why he survives multiple strokes and is still alive even today against all odds. Some reasoned that it may have to do with the symbolic meaning his name conveys.God planned to bring the flood of Noah after all the men who walked in the ways of the Lord had been removed. Methuselah lived during the construction of Noah’s ark but died right before the flood as God had promised him that he would not be killed with the unrighteous. The name Methuselah translates,”When he is dead it shall be sent”; meaning ‘the deluge’ of judgment would come after his death. Therefore, Methuselah’s death marked the end of mankind’s grace period and the coming of the Great Flood.Since there is nothing new under the sun and history just repeats itself, sustaining the live of the man may once again serve God’s purposes.Perhaps it will be that after the announcement of the death of Ariel Sharon whose name means “Lion of God” or “Jerusalem” or “Fertile Land”, the fall of Jerusalem will follow, and at the same time, those who are alive and living for the Lord will not die but be raptured and be removed; just as Methuselah died before the flood so that he would not be “killed with the unrighteous” in the coming “flood of judgment.” Just as Methuselah’s death indicated the coming literal flood of judgment so might Ariel Sharon’s death signify the coming flood of judgment upon an unrepentant world; or the redemption of the righteous in Christ!

Assad's fate left open after Syria crisis talks

GENEVA (Reuters) - International powers agreed on Saturday that a transitional government should be set up in Syria to end the bloodshed there but left open the question of what part President Bashar al-Assad might play in the process.Peace envoy Kofi Annan said after talks in Geneva that the government should include members of Assad's administration and the Syrian opposition to pave the way for free elections.
"It is for the people to come to a political agreement but time is running out," Annan said in concluding remarks."We need rapid steps to reach agreement. The conflict must be resolved through peaceful dialogue and negotiations."The Geneva talks had been billed as a last-ditch effort to halt the worsening violence in Syria but hit obstacles as Russia, Assad's most powerful ally, opposed Western and Arab insistence that he must quit the scene. The final communiqué said the transitional government "could include members of the present government and the opposition and other groups and shall be formed on the basis of mutual consent".But in a victory for Russian diplomacy, it omitted language contained in a previous draft which explicitly said it "would exclude from government those whose continued presence and participation would undermine the credibility of the transition and jeopardize stability and reconciliation".Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he was "delighted" with the result as it meant no foreign solution was being imposed on Syria. But U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it sent a clear message to Assad that he must step down."Assad will still have to go," Clinton told a news conference after the meeting ended."What we have done here is to strip away the fiction that he and those with blood on their hands can stay in power."Annan called the meeting to salvage a peace plan that has largely been ignored by the Assad government. He stressed that the transition must be led by Syrians and meet their legitimate aspirations."No one should be in any doubt as to the extreme dangers posed by the conflict - to Syrians, to the region, and to the world," he said in opening remarks. His plan for a negotiated solution to the 16-month-old conflict is the only one on the table and its failure would doom Syria to even more violence. More than 10,000 people have been killed since the anti-Assad uprising broke out and the past few weeks have been among the bloodiest.Highlighting the deteriorating situation on the ground, Syrian government forces pushed their way into Douma on the outskirts of Damascus on Saturday after weeks of siege and shelling. Fleeing residents spoke of corpses lying in the streets.Britain's ITV showed footage of clouds of black smoke over built-up areas and said warplanes had struck at targets in the suburb. The army also attacked pro-opposition areas in Deir al-Zor, Homs, Idlib and the outskirts of Damascus, opposition activists said.British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Assad and his close associates could not lead any transition. Accountability for war crimes must be part of such a process, he added in his speech to the meeting.Hague called for the U.N. Security Council to start drafting a resolution next week setting out sanctions against Syria, a move that he noted put him at odds with Russia. The foreign ministers of the council's five permanent members - Russia, the United States, China, France and Britain - all attended along with Turkey, Kuwait, Qatar, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.Notably uninvited were Iran, Syria's closest regional ally, and Saudi Arabia, a foe of both Damascus and Tehran and leading backer of the rebel forces opposing Assad. Nor was anyone from the Syrian government or opposition represented.
PATH TO WAR
The Syrian conflict has evolved from peaceful protests against the Assad family's four-decade rule to something akin to a civil war with a sectarian dimension. The world has condemned the ferocity of Assad's forces' crackdown - including military assaults on pro-opposition areas and mass arrests - but has been unable to halt violence which threatens to draw in the region's religious and political rivalries and alliances.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 56 people had been killed across the country on Saturday.Syria's border with Turkey was also tense following a Turkish military build-up in response to Syria's shooting down of a Turkish warplane last week.A Syrian witness said Turkish forces stationed on the border opposite the Syrian town of Jandaris fired machineguns in the air in response to Syrian army bombardment of rebel areas."It was to tell the Syrian side we are here," the witness said.
Syrian forces reentered Douma and soldiers were carrying out searches in hospitals for dissidents and rebel fighters, activists said. Electricity and water were cut off.Abo Abdullah, 50, said he and his five children left Douma on Sunday morning fearing attacks by government forces."I saw at least three bodies on a street corner, some houses were destroyed, others were on fire. Only a few people remained inside the city. Those who can, leave," he said."I saw a body on the side of the street and dogs were gathering around it."
State news agency SANA said security forces were raiding hideouts in Douma of "armed terrorist groups" and had killed, wounded or arrested scores.Although the government routinely refers to its enemies as foreign-controlled terrorists, Assad himself conceded this week that the country was now in a state of war.

MORSI - JIHAD IS OUR PATH

KING JESUS IS COMING FOR US ANY TIME NOW. THE RAPTURE. BE PREPARED TO GO.

EGYPT

ISAIAH 19:1-15
1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.
6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.
7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.
8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.
9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.
10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.
11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?
12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.
14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

Morsi During Campaign: Jihad Is Our Path

Created on Friday, 29 June 2012 21:04

Elad Benari - Arutz Sheva

Mohammed Mursi talks during a news conference in Cairo. ReutersMohammed Mursi talks during a news conference in Cairo. ReutersDuring his election campaign, Egyptian president-elect Mohammed Morsi reiterated his commitment to jihad and to the Islamic sharia law.
Morsi made the remarks in a speech broadcast on May 13 on the Egyptian Misr 25 television network. His remarks in Arabic were uploaded to YouTube, and were later translated to English by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
“The Koran was and will continue to be our constitution,” the Muslim Brotherhood candidate said. “The Koran is our constitution. The prophet Muhammad is our leader. Jihad is our path. And death for the sake of Allah is our most lofty aspiration.”

Islamist Morsi is sworn in as Egypt's president

CAIRO (AP) — Islamist Mohammed Morsi promised a "new Egypt" and unwavering support to the powerful military as he took the oath of office Saturday to become the country's first freely elected president, succeeding Hosni Mubarak who was ousted 16 months ago.In a solemn inauguration ceremony before the Supreme Constitutional Court, Morsi also became the Arab world's first freely elected Islamist president and Egypt's fifth head of state since the overthrow of the monarchy some 60 years ago."We aspire to a better tomorrow, a new Egypt and a second republic," Morsi said before the black-robed judges in the court's Nile-side headquarters built to resemble an ancient Egyptian temple."Today, the Egyptian people laid the foundation of a new life — absolute freedom, a genuine democracy and stability," said Morsi, a 60-year-old U.S.-trained engineer from the Muslim Brotherhood, a fundamentalist group that has spent most of the 84 years since its inception as an outlawed organization harshly targeted by successive governments.
He later delivered his inauguration address at a gigantic Cairo University lecture hall packed with several thousands, including many members of the Islamist-dominated parliament dissolved by the military earlier in June.Morsi repeated his oath of office and lavishly praised the military, which has rushed a series of decrees this month that stripped Morsi of significant powers, gave it legislative power and took control of the process of drafting a permanent constitution. It has also retained its influence on key domestic and foreign policy issues."The armed forces are the shield and sword of the nation," he said. "I pledge before God that I will safeguard that institution, soldiers and commanders, raise its prestige and support it with all the powers available to me so it can be stronger."But Morsi also appeared later in the address to urge the military to hand over all powers to his elected administration."The (ruling) Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has honored its promise not to be a substitute for the popular will and the elected institutions will now return to carry out their duties as the glorious Egyptian army returns to being devoted to its mission of defending the nation's borders and security," he said.Military ruler Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi was in attendance along with other generals from the ruling council. His arrival at the hall was greeted by chants of "the army and the people are one hand." He and Gen. Sami Anan, the powerful chief of staff, wore a blank face throughout Morsi's address, occasionally offering support to Morsi with a polite clap of their hands.Later at a military ceremony held at a base east of Cairo, Tantawi and Anan saluted Morsi as he arrived and awarded him the "shield of the Armed Forces" — the Egyptian military's highest honor. Morsi also received a 21-gun salute before he and Tantawi addressed the ceremony.Morsi used his Cairo University address to send an implicit message of reassurance to Israel, while also pledging support for the "legitimate rights" of the Palestinians.
He said his administration would continue to honor its international treaties — a thinly veiled reference to the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty.Relations between the two neighbors have become particularly tense since last year's overthrow of Mubarak, who had forged close ties with the Jewish state during his 29-year rule. The rise to power of Egyptian Islamists has been a source of alarm among many Israelis.
Hundreds of soldiers and policemen guarded the Supreme Constitutional Court building as Morsi arrived shortly after 11 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) in a small motorcade to take the oath of office. Only several hundred supporters gathered outside the court to cheer the new president and, in a departure from the presidential pomp of the Mubarak era, traffic was only briefly halted to allow Morsi's motorcade through on the usually busy road linking the city center with its southern suburbs. In another sign of the change of style, Morsi began his address at Cairo University with an apology to students whose final exams had to be postponed to allow the ceremony to be held at the main campus. He was given an official welcome at the university with a military band playing the national anthem as he stood at attention.Saturday's swearing-in also marked a personal triumph for Morsi, who was not the Brotherhood's first choice as president and was only thrown into the race when the group's original candidate, chief strategist and financier Khairat el-Shater, was disqualified over a Mubarak-era criminal conviction.Derided as the Brotherhood's uncharismatic "spare tire," his personal prestige has surged since his victory, and received another boost Friday after he delivered a speech in Tahrir Square in which he tried to present him as a candidate of not just Islamists but of all those who want to complete the work of the 2011 uprising against the authoritarian Mubarak.

"Egypt today is a civil, national, constitutional and modern state," Morsi, wearing a blue business suit and a red tie, told the judges in the wood-paneled chamber where he took the oath of office. "It is a strong nation because of its people and the beliefs of its sons and its institutions."Morsi took a symbolic oath Friday in Tahrir Square, the birthplace of the uprising that ended Mubarak's authoritarian rule last year, and vowed to reclaim presidential powers stripped from his office by the military council that took over from the ousted leader.Morsi's speech Friday in Tahrir Square was filled with dramatic populist gestures. The 60-year-old president-elect staked a claim to the legacy of the uprising and voiced his determination to win back the powers stripped from his office by the generals.Addressing a crowd that repeatedly shouted, "We love you Morsi!" he began his speech by joining them in chanting, "Revolutionaries and free, we will continue the journey." Later he opened his jacket wide to show that he was not wearing a bullet-proof vest.
"Everybody is hearing me now. The government ... the military and the police. ... No power above this power," he told the crowd. "I reaffirm to you I will not give up any of the president's authorities. I can't afford to do this. I don't have that right."But by agreeing to take the official oath before the court, rather than before parliament as is customary, he bowed to the military's will in an indication that the contest for power will continue. The generals dissolved the Islamist-packed legislature after the same Supreme Constitutional Court that swore him in Saturday ruled that a third of its members were elected illegally. The military has also declared itself the legislative power. It gave itself control over the drafting of a new constitution, sidelining Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood, which had sought to influence the process by packing the drafting panel with Islamists. The generals also created a National Security Council to formulate key domestic and foreign policies. Military officers outnumber civilians sitting on the council by about two-to-one, and decisions are made by a simple majority.
