GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

11 And thou shalt say,(RUSSIA,ARAB,MUSLIMS) I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.

Pro-Israel demonstration at UCLA screens October 7 images-‘Intifada’: Anti-Israel protesters break into Columbia campus building and seize it-University suspends students who refused to remove tents by deadline; protesters smash windows, occupy Hamilton Hall, which is encircled by hundreds; school urges avoiding campus-By ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 3:07 pm-APR 30,24

Protesters at Columbia University, the epicenter of anti-Israel protests that have upended college campuses across the United States, broke into a building on the New York school’s campus on Tuesday, barricaded themselves inside and unfurled an “intifada” banner from a window.Videos and photos from Hamilton Hall showed at least one individual smashing a window with a hammer.Doors to the building were shut and blocked from inside with tables, chairs, metal barricades and other objects or sealed with locks, zip ties or ropes by dozens of protesters, the student paper reported.According to the Columbia Spectator, demonstrators also allegedly held workers there against their will for a short period of time. The newspaper reported that a maintenance worker exited the building at 12:40 a.m. after yelling to be released, telling the crowd as he left that he had been “held hostage” inside. Three other workers reportedly left some 30 minutes later after the barricades blocking one door were removed.Dozens of protesters rallied outside the building, forming a human chain to block the doors, and chanted slogans seen by many as anti-Israel, including “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”A group calling themselves the Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) declared on X that the activists had “reclaimed” Hamilton Hall and renamed it “Hind Hall in honor of Hind Rajab, a martyr murdered at the hands of the genocidal Israeli state at the age of six years old.”An Israel Defense Forces investigation in February, immediately after the Gazan girl’s body was found, said there were no troops in the area at the time of her death.Photos shared on social media also showed a Palestinian flag unfurled from a window of the building, as well as banners reading “Intifada” and “Gaza Calls Columbia Falls.”For Israelis, the Arabic word “intifada,” literally “uprising,” conjures traumatic memories of mass waves of deadly terror attacks in 1987-1993 and again in the early 2000s.An INTIFADA flag is hung from Hamilton Hall, Columbia University-Intifada is an armed terrorist uprising fyi. America take back control of your universities and arrest their asses. And stop the radicalisation of your youth! pic.twitter.com/pYGqdWcZoT— Brian BJ (@iamBrianBJ) April 30, 2024-Protestors said they planned to remain at the hall until the university agreed to meet the CUAD’s three demands: divestment, financial transparency and amnesty. As the hours went on, hundreds gathered outside to rally in support of the occupation of the building. The Columbia Spectator reported that New York City police officers in unmarked cars were present outside the building, though it was unclear if police had been invited onto the campus by university authorities. In a statement on Tuesday, the university asked staff and students to stay away from its main campus amid the demonstration.“In light of the protest activity on campus, members of the University community who can avoid coming to the Morningside campus today should do so,” the statement said, adding that essential staff should report to work although access to the campus and some buildings may be restricted.Students at Columbia University have occupied Hamilton hall. Today the university president explicitly said to students the school would not be divesting and threatened to suspend students protesting. The last time this building was taken over by student protesters was in 1968 pic.twitter.com/IhoWVYlocB— Lama Al-Arian (@lalarian) April 30, 2024-The latest demonstration came hours after Columbia began suspending student protesters on Monday when they defied an ultimatum to disperse. The suspensions followed almost two weeks of protests against Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza that have swept through higher education institutions from coast to coast, at times veering into antisemitism and intimidation of Jewish students. Around 100 protesters were first arrested at the prestigious New York university on April 18.Hamilton Hall was previously occupied by students protesting the Vietnam War in 1968 and again by anti-apartheid activists in 1985.Widening campus unrest-Meanwhile at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where opposing protesters clashed over the weekend, pro-Israeli activists set up a large screen and loudspeakers to play a taped loop of images from the Hamas’s October 7 massacre in southern Israel, which saw thousands of terrorists burst across the border, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages amid acts of brutality and sexual assault. The video appeared aimed at countering pro-Hamas chants that have seeped into campus protests in support of Palestinians in Gaza.UCLA also stepped up security around the pro-Palestinian encampment there, consisting of more than 50 tents surrounded by metal fencing near the main administration building on campus. At Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, police and protesters clashed as officers moved in after nightfall Monday to break up an encampment.Local TV aired video of police in riot gear dousing demonstrators, many of whom the university said were not students, with what appeared to be pepper spray, and making arrests.Students have stormed and taken the Cabell Library Building at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.Charge them.pic.twitter.com/nrCTNfeb4A-Also Monday, dozens of officers in riot gear at the University of Utah sought to break up an encampment outside the university president’s office that went up in the afternoon.Police dragged students off by their hands and feet, snapping the poles holding up tents and zip-tying those who refused to disperse. Seventeen people were arrested. The university said it was against code to camp overnight on school property, and that the students had been given several warnings to disperse before police were called in.At the University of Southern California, organizers of a large encampment sat down with university president Carol Folt for about 90 minutes on Monday. Folt declined to discuss details but said she heard the concerns of protesters and talks would continue Tuesday.USC sparked a controversy April 15 when officials refused to allow the valedictorian, who has publicly supported Palestinians and has a controversial social media history, to make a commencement speech, citing nonspecific security concerns for their rare decision. Administrators then scrapped the keynote speech by filmmaker Jon M. Chu, who is an alumnus, and declined to award any honorary degrees. The backlash, as well as the demonstrations at Columbia, inspired the encampment and protests on the USC campus last week, where 90 people were arrested by police in riot gear. USC has now canceled its main graduation event.Administrators elsewhere tried to salvage their commencements and several have ordered the clearing of encampments in recent days. When those efforts have failed, officials threatened discipline, including suspension, and possible arrest. In a rare case, Northwestern University said it had reached an agreement with students and faculty who represent the majority of protesters on its campus near Chicago. It will allow peaceful demonstrations through the June 1 end of spring classes and in exchange, required removal of all tents except one for aid and restricted the demonstration area to allow only students, faculty and staff, and university-approved exceptions. While pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protests have been held regularly on US campuses since the Israel-Hamas war broke out on October 7, the demonstrations drew renewed attention after Columbia protesters set up their encampment earlier this month. After the NYPD removed the encampment and arrested more than 100 protesters, demonstrators at other universities around the country and in Europe erected their own encampments and the Columbia one was reassembled.Protest organizers deny accusations of antisemitism, arguing that their actions are aimed at the Israeli government and its prosecution of the conflict in Gaza. They also claim the more threatening incidents have been engineered by non-student agitators.

China: Hamas, Fatah showed ‘political will’ for reconciliation in recent Beijing talks-Chinese Foreign Ministry says rival Palestinian groups made ‘positive progress,’ agreed on further talks to ‘achieve the realization of Palestinian solidarity and unity’By Agencies and ToI Staff Today, 12:00 pm-APR 30,24

China said Tuesday that representatives from Hamas and Fatah met in Beijing recently for “in-depth and candid talks on promoting intra-Palestinian reconciliation.”“Representatives of the Palestine National Liberation Movement and the Islamic Resistance Movement recently came to Beijing,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, referring to the rival Palestinian factions by their formal names.“The two sides fully expressed their political will to achieve reconciliation through dialogue and consultation, discussed many specific issues and made positive progress,” he added, without specifying when the representatives had met.“They agreed to continue the course of talks to achieve the realization of Palestinian solidarity and unity at an early date,” he said, noting that both sides had thanked Beijing for its efforts to “promote Palestinian internal unity and reached an agreement on further dialogue.”Terror group Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip from Fatah, which administers the West Bank, in a 2007 coup. International efforts since then have so far failed to reconcile the two factions. In March, Russia hosted the two groups, along with other Palestinian factions, to discuss the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, and governance plans for an eventual postwar period. Also in March, Russia and China both exercised their veto power in the United Nations Security Council to block a US-backed resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as part of a hostage deal.Beijing said that the draft “dodged the most central issue, that of a ceasefire” through its “ambiguous” language, while Moscow claimed that the “exceedingly politicized” resolution contained an effective green light for Israel to mount a military operation in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah, where more than half of the Strip’s 2.3 million residents have been sheltering amid the ongoing war.China has historically been sympathetic to the Palestinian cause and supportive of a two-state solution.Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for an “international peace conference” to resolve the fighting, and Beijing has been calling for an immediate ceasefire since war erupted in Gaza after Hamas’s October 7 massacre, which saw terrorists burst across the border into Israel, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages.Vowing to destroy Hamas and return the hostages, Israel launched a wide-scale offensive in Gaza which Hamas-run health authorities say has killed at least 34,450 people in the Gaza Strip. These figures cannot be independently verified, and are believed to include both civilians and Hamas members killed in Gaza, including as a consequence of terror groups’ own rocket misfires.

Cop moderately hurt in Jerusalem stabbing; assailant, a Turkish visitor, shot dead-34-year-old foreign national knifes Border Police officer in Old City-By Emanuel Fabian-Today, 2:22 pm-APR 30,24

A police officer was moderately wounded in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City, authorities said Tuesday. The assailant, a Turkish national, was shot dead.According to police, the 34-year-old Turkish man, apparently a tourist, rushed at a Border Police cop near the Herod’s Gate entrance and stabbed him in the upper body. The wounded man was taken by the Magen David Adom ambulance service to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the capital, which said he was conscious and in moderate condition. The officer who was stabbed and another cop in the area returned fire at the assailant, killing him, police added. It is extremely rare for a foreign national to carry out an attack in Israel, with no such incidents taking place in recent memory.A large number of forces, including police’s Jerusalem District chief Doron Turgeman, were at the scene holding an assessment and collecting evidence, law enforcement officials said. The attack comes a week after three people were lightly wounded in a car-ramming terror attack at two separate locations in Jerusalem. The two alleged perpetrators, Palestinian teenagers, were captured after a brief manhunt.Tensions in Israel and the West Bank have soared since October 7, when terrorists burst through the Gaza border into Israel in a Hamas-led attack, killing at least 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages.

Explainer-What is the International Criminal Court and why does it worry Israeli leaders? Amid reports that top UN court will issue arrest warrants for senior officials, Netanyahu has vowed Israel won’t accept ‘any attempt to undermine its inherent right of self-defense’
By Agencies and ToI Staff Today, 12:14 pm-APR 30,24

Israeli officials sound increasingly concerned that the International Criminal Court could issue arrest warrants for some of the country’s leaders nearly seven months into the war in Gaza, sparked by Hamas’s October 7 onslaught.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has written in general terms of his opposition to ICC action against officials and Israel Defense Forces troops, and the Foreign Ministry has said it is also tracking reports of pending action. The ICC was established in 2002 as the permanent court of last resort to prosecute individuals responsible for the world’s most heinous atrocities – war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and the crime of aggression. The Rome Statute creating the ICC was adopted in 1998 and entered into force when it got 60 ratifications on July 1, 2002. The UN General Assembly endorsed the ICC, but the court is independent.Without a police force, the ICC relies on member states to arrest suspects, which has proven to be a major obstacle to prosecutions.Netanyahu said Friday on the social platform X that Israel “will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine its inherent right of self-defense.”“While the ICC will not affect Israel’s actions, it would set a dangerous precedent,” he wrote. The Foreign Ministry said late Sunday that it had informed missions abroad of “rumors” that the court could order the arrest of senior political and military officials. The ministry did not give a source for the rumors.Israeli and foreign officials reportedly believe the ICC is weighing arrest warrants for Hamas leaders as well.In a statement emailed to The Associated Press, the court’s prosecution office declined to comment in detail. What is the ICC? The ICC’s 124 member states have signed on to the Rome Statute.Dozens of countries did not sign and do not accept the court’s jurisdiction over war crimes, genocide and other crimes. They include Israel, the United States, Russia and China. The ICC becomes involved when nations are unable or unwilling to prosecute crimes on their territory. Israel argues that it has a functioning court system, and disputes over a nation’s ability or willingness to prosecute have fueled past disputes between the court and individual countries. In 2020, then-US president Donald Trump slapped economic and travel sanctions on the ICC prosecutor and another senior prosecution office staffer. The ICC staff were looking into US and allies’ troops and intelligence officials for possible war crimes in Afghanistan.US President Joe Biden, whose administration has provided Israel with crucial military and political support in its war against the Hamas terror group in Gaza, lifted the sanctions in 2021.The ICC has 17 ongoing investigations, has issued a total of 42 arrest warrants and taken 21 suspects into custody. Its judges have convicted 10 suspects and acquitted four.In its early years, the court was criticized for focusing on crimes in Africa — 10 of its investigations are in African nations — but now it has investigations in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. What is the ICC’s relationship to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza? The UN General Assembly raised the Palestinian Authority’s status in 2012 from a UN observer to a non-member observer state. That opened the door for the PA to join international organizations, including the ICC.The ICC accepted “The State of Palestine” as a member in 2015, a year after the Palestinians accepted the court’s jurisdiction. The court’s chief prosecutor at the time, Fatouh Bensouda, announced in 2021 that she was opening an investigation into possible crimes in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. That investigation starts from June 13, 2014 — one day after Palestinian terrorists kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank, meaning the ICC will not look into the crimes that sparked Israel’s Operation Protective Edge that summer.Israel often levels accusations of bias at UN and international bodies, and Netanyahu slammed the decision to probe “fake war crimes” as hypocritical and antisemitic.Current ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan visited Ramallah and Israel in December, meeting Palestinian Authority officials and families of Israelis killed or taken hostage by Hamas terrorists in the October 7 massacre, which saw some 3,000 terrorists burst across the border into Israel, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages amid amid acts of brutality and sexual assault. At the time, Khan called Hamas’s actions “some of the most serious international crimes that shock the conscience of humanity, crimes which the ICC was established to address,” and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.Khan said “international humanitarian law must still apply” in the Gaza war and “the Israeli military knows the law that must be applied.”After the visit, Khan said an ICC investigation into possible crimes by Hamas terrorists and IDF forces “is a priority for my office.” Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan visits a Gaza border town attacked by Hamas, on December 3, 2023. (Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum)-Who else has the ICC charged? A year ago the court issued a warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of responsibility for the abductions of children from Ukraine. Russia responded by issuing its own arrest warrants for Khan and ICC judges.Other high-profile leaders charged by the court include ousted Sudanese strongman Omar al-Bashir on allegations including genocide in his country’s Darfur region.Former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi was captured and killed by rebels shortly after the ICC issued a warrant for his arrest on charges linked to the brutal suppression of anti-government protests in 2011.

MCGILL HAS ISLAMIC SUCK UP CAMPS AGAINST ISRAEL.

MARK 13:8
8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:(ETHNIC GROUP AGAINST ETHNIC GROUP) and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

LUKE 21:11
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,(DIFFERNT PLACES AT THE SAME TIME) and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Elam (IRAN IN THE BIBLE) passed into the hands of the Persians" (A.H. Sayce).
Jeremiah 49:35-39
35-Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36-And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37-For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, [even] my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
38-And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
39-But it shall come to pass in the latter days, [that] I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.

Ezekiel 32:24
24-There [is] Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.

EZEK 38:4-13
4  And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5  Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6  Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.(AFRICAN MUSLIMS,SUDAN,TUNESIA ETC)
7  Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8  After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9  Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.
10  Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11  And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12  To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13  Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?(OIL IS IN SPOIL-I BELIEVE THATS WHY RUSSIA,ARAB/MUSLIMS MARCH TO ISRAEL)
EZEK 39:11-21
11  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN THE JORDAN VALLEY) and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(CEMETARY OF THE HORDE)
12  And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
13  Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; (ALL AVAILABLE ISRAELS WILL BURY THE RUSSIA,MUSLIM HORDE) and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14  And they shall sever out men of continual employment, (NUCLEAR PROFFESIONALS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.(SO BY THE SOUNDS OF IT AFTER 7 MONTHS THE NUKED RUSSIA,MUSLIM HOARDES BONES WILL STILL BE FULL OF RADIATION, SO VISITERS TO ISRAEL WILL JUST PUT A SIGN BY THE BONES.NOT TOUCH THEM.OR THEY WOULD STILL GET RADIATION POISONING FROM ISRAEL NUKING THEM 7 MONTHS EARLIER.SO THE SIGN GOES BY THE BONES.THE NUCLEAR PROFFESIONALS WILL PICK UP AND TAKE THE BONES TO THE JORDAN VALLEY BURIAL SITE.
15  And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.(VALLEY OF GOGS HORDES)
16  And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah.(MEANING CITY OF THE HOARDE) Thus shall they cleanse the land.
17  And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(RUSSIA,ISLAMIC HORDE)
18  Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19  And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20  Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21  And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet,(DISOLVED FROM ATOMIC BOMB) and their eyes shall consume away in their holes,(DISOLVED FROM ATOMIC BOMB) and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.(DISOLVED FROM ATOMIC BOMB)(BECAUSE NUKES HAVE BEEN USED ON ISRAELS ENEMIES)(GOD PROTECTS ISRAEL AND ALWAYS WILL)
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.(1/2-3 BILLION DIE IN WW3)(THIS IS AN ATOMIC BOMB EFFECT)

 Update from McGill - 29-4-24 - 7h00 - Mise à jour de McGill-Staff | 29 Apr 2024

The situation on the lower field of McGill University’s downtown campus has shifted significantly. The number of individuals who have set up tents on campus has tripled since Saturday. We have become aware that many of them, if not the majority, are not members of the McGill community.Last night we saw video evidence of some people using unequivocally antisemitic language and intimidating behaviour, which is absolutely unacceptable on our campuses. We condemn this in the strongest possible terms and will act quickly to investigate.McGill has been steadfast in its support of the rights of our campus community to freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly, with the understanding that these must be exercised within the bounds of McGill’s policies as well as the law.We have been clear that these encampments violate both. The University has been in communication with lawyers retained by McGill students in the encampment, to discuss conditions in place to ensure safety as well as a timeline to remove the tents.Late in the day yesterday, we were informed through their lawyers that the students have refused to carry on these discussions and did not bring any proposals or suggestions to further the dialogue. They have instead indicated that they intended to remain on campus indefinitely. Our senior leadership team is meeting now to discuss next steps regarding this matter and will provide an update on our decision within short order.

Update on the situation on campus / Le point sur la situation sur le campus-Staff | 28 Apr 2024-This message is sent on behalf of Fabrice Labeau, Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning)-Dear members of the McGill community,

I am writing to provide an update on yesterday’s news that a group of individuals had set up tents on the lower field of McGill’s downtown campus. The protest is ongoing and as of this afternoon has been peaceful. Although our open campuses welcome the public for many authorized activities, the University is private property. While members of the McGill community have the right to freedom of expression and assembly within the bounds of University policy, procedures and the law, erecting tents without approval violates our policies and the law.    Our top priority is ensuring the health and safety of our community by minimizing the risk of escalation and any potential harm that may ensue. That is why we have chosen to engage in discussions with lawyers retained by McGill students in the encampment to arrive at a swift resolution. In the meantime, McGill’s security team is closely collaborating with Montreal police (SPVM) to ensure the ongoing safety of the McGill community and of those protesting on the lower field. As the senior leadership team continues to monitor the situation, our response to any protest, demonstration, or occupation is always guided by our existing University operating procedures and policies. While we respond as quickly as possible, our actions must take into account an array of unique circumstances, including an assessment of the immediate risks to safety. We recognize that the situation is evolving and we will continue to provide rapid updates throughout.  Thank you so much for your understanding and patience. Sincerely, Fabrice Labeau-Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning) On behalf of the Emergency Operations Centre Rapid Response Group

(Lauren McCallum/CBC)-The number of tents at the pro-Palestinian encampment on McGill University's downtown campus have tripled since Saturday, according to university officials. Montreal protesters set up about 20 tents Saturday afternoon with the intent of staying on McGill University's lower field "indefinitely." They joined a wave of pro-Palestinian demonstrations held on campuses across the U.S.In a statement published Monday, the university's media relations office said the situation with protesters on campus "shifted significantly.""We have become aware that many of them, if not the majority, are not members of the McGill community," the statements reads. Students camping out on the McGill University campus in solidarity with Palestinians for a second day say they won't go anywhere until the university divests from funds with ties to weapons manufacturers, commercial banks, technology firms and other companies they say are "complicit in upholding the apartheid regime of Israel."Some students slept at the encampment overnight, while others left and came back in the morning. They held Palestinian flags and signs that read "McGill funds genocide" and "McGill, you have blood on your hands." The encampment of about 20 tents was struck after students launched similar protests on campuses across the United States. Two student groups, McGill Hunger Strike for Palestine and Students for Justice in Palestine, released a database earlier this month listing 50 companies that the university invests in that the groups say have "links to the ongoing Palestinian genocide." tents behind a gate covered in pro-Palestine signs on McGill University's lawn in Montreal.Companies, banks and other organizations are included on the list for a variety of reasons, according to the database — such as investing in firms that provide weapons or technology to the Israeli military; operating in illegal settlements; investing in Israeli companies; or operating in Israel. In a statement, McGill University said it hires external fund managers to handle its investments and "does not invest directly in individual stocks or companies."Students set up 'indefinite' pro-Palestinian encampment at McGill University-But that response isn't satisfying to McGill student Umniah Tareq, who is Palestinian."I didn't know there was so much money and so much tangible investment going to the genocide of my people, the violence that happens back home," she said.Tareq said it was "empowering" to see students come together and make their voices heard. She said the university has so far ignored concerns about its investment policies brought forward by students and highlighted at protests and teach-ins.A girl wearing a keffiyeh, round glasses and a blue surgical mask in front of the encampment on McGill's lawn.Palestinian McGill student Umniah Tareq said she was shocked to learn how much money the university has invested in companies she said are involved in 'the genocide of my people.' (CBC)-CBC's interview with Tareq was interrupted by Laura Nezri, a passerby who said she wanted to "see the situation" for herself. She asked Tareq if she blamed Hamas for the violence in Gaza. Tareq responded by saying she doesn't "engage with Zionists.""I'm very concerned with what's happening. I'm very worried," Nezri said. "I'm a Jew, I'm a proud Jew and I have no shame in saying that."I think that we're at extremes. They stand up for so many different principles, and with such a loud and obnoxious voice, but when you give them your opposing opinion, they cut you off."Another student, who didn't give their name out of fear of retaliation from the university and law enforcement, told CBC the students are prepared to camp out as long as they can: "We're not going anywhere."blue tents on a lawn-Israel launched its war against Hamas after the militant group's attacks on Israel on Oct. 7. During the attacks, some 1,200 people were killed and around 250 were taken hostage, according to Israeli tallies. More than 130 hostages are still being held in Gaza, including women and children.Health authorities in Gaza say Israel's offensive in the enclave has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians — the majority of them women and children — and has led to the imminent risk of famine, the destruction of key hospitals and, according to the United Nations, the displacement of 1.9 million people.Professors show support-rofessors like Michelle Hartman, who teaches Islamic studies, and Roberta La Piana, who teaches neuroscience, came out to the encampments sporting keffiyehs and holding signs of their own."I'm here to fully support the students. I think they have extremely reasonable reasons to be here," said La Piana. "I'm hopeful McGill's administration will understand the request from the students and will commit to a more moral and ethical choice towards the divestment of all Israeli support."La Piana brought her children to the encampment, where a zone for kids to make crafts was set up. Here's what's happening on U.S. campuses as student protests against Israel's war in Gaza grow-University students face arrests amid calls for ceasefire, demands to stop support for Israel-The Associated Press · Posted: Apr 25, 2024 8:32 PM EDT |

A person wearing a grey hoodie and a t-shirt reading "Jews say ceasefire now" sits on the ground, surrounded by a large crowd of people, holding a cardboard protest sign.Demonstrations over Israel's war in Gaza have spread from New York's Columbia University, where police tried to break up a protest encampment last week. Some U.S. universities called in police to break up demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war, resulting in ugly scuffles and dozens of arrests, while others appeared content to wait out student protests Thursday, as the final days of the semester ticked down and graduation ceremonies loomed.Student protest have popped up on an increasing number of college campuses following last week's arrest of more than 100 demonstrators at Columbia University. The students are calling for universities to separate themselves from any companies that are advancing Israel's military efforts in Gaza — and in some cases from Israel itself.Protests on many campuses have been orchestrated by coalitions of student groups and largely act independently, though students say they're inspired by peers at other universities.UN rights chief calls for independent investigation as more bodies recovered from Gaza mass gravesAlthough many students will soon leave for the summer break, school officials worry that any ongoing protests could disrupt May commencement ceremonies, while some Jewish students say the protests have veered into antisemitism and made them afraid to set foot on campus. Here is a look at the protests, and response to the demonstrations, on some U.S. campuses in recent days.Columbia set stage for national protests-Protesters set up a tent encampment at the Ivy League university in New York last week.A group of negotiators representing the protesters has been meeting intermittently with university administrators since Friday to discuss their demands, which include cutting financial ties with Israel and the companies involved in the war in Gaza, as well as amnesty for students and staff facing discipline for participating in the protests.A black, white, green and red Palestinian flag waves on a pole in front of a crowd of tents on a university campus. Those talks broke down on Tuesday night, according to the lead negotiator, Mahmoud Khalil, after he said the university threatened to send in police and the National Guard if the encampment wasn't gone by midnight.Hundreds of students and faculty quickly packed onto the lawn in the largest numbers since the start of the demonstration. Overnight, the university backtracked, giving demonstrators a 48-hour extension if the group agreed to block non-students from the encampment and remove a certain number of tents.A woman with her back turned lays flowers in front of posters of hostages affixed on a wall in front of a large protest encampment on a university campus.A spokesperson later denied that the university had suggested calling the National Guard. While there have been confrontations and allegations of antisemitic activity outside the university's gates, police described students inside the encampment as peaceful and compliant.Police first tried to clear the encampment last Thursday, when they arrested more than 100 protesters. But the move backfired, acting as an inspiration for other students across the country and motivating protesters at Columbia to regroup.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson visited Columbia on Wednesday to meet with Jewish students over concerns about antisemitism on college campuses. Johnson said Israel and Jewish students on campus will not stand alone.A cardboard protest sign bearing the words "Staff for a free Palestine" hangs in front of a crowd of tents in a protest encampment on a university campus.Emory protest entwined with 'Cop City' activism-Atlanta police and Georgia state troopers dismantled a camp on Emory University's quadrangle Thursday morning, with Associated Press journalists counting at least 17 people detained. When officers in tactical gear began detaining people, some submitted, but others physically pushed back. Those who were detained were handcuffed with zip ties and loaded into a police transport van. Video shows officers at least once used an electrical stun gun on a protester who was handcuffed on the ground.Officers deployed rubber bullets and tear gas to break apart pro-Palestinian protests at Emory University in Atlanta. Protesters were seen struggling against officers' attempts to wrestle them to the ground and multiple people were detained by law enforcement.University police had ordered several dozen demonstrators who set up tents on the campus early Thursday morning to leave, according to Emory spokesperson Laura Diamond. She said in an email to The Associated Press that the group "trespassed" onto the private school."These individuals are not members of our community," Diamond said. "They are activists attempting to disrupt our university as our students finish classes and prepare for finals."A person in a red t-shirt faces a crowd on a university campus while holding up a protest sign reading "Emory Admin: Opposing Genocide does not equal Antisemitism."A long line of officers surrounded the encampment of about three dozen tents after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, as protesters chanted slogans supporting Palestinians and opposing a public safety training centre being built in Atlanta. The two movements are closely entwined in Atlanta, where there has been years of "Stop Cop City" activism that has included a fringe of anarchist attacks on property and the killing by state troopers of a protester who was occupying the site.Police, protesters face off at University of Texas-The University of Texas campus was much calmer on Thursday, a day after a demonstration saw police and state troopers in riot gear and on horseback make dozens of arrests and forced hundreds of students off the school's main lawn.On Thursday, university officials pulled back the campus barricades and allowed another demonstration on the main square underneath the school's iconic clock tower in central campus.A crowd of protesters on one side of a line of shrubs faces a crowd of police in riot gear, as officers pull one demonstrator away. While the group was vocal with chants and angry shouts against Israel and campus leadership, the demonstration was far less volatile. No violence erupted as a small group of campus police watched from the steps of the tower building.Gaza grief image named World Press Photo of the Year-But on Wednesday, officers at the University of Texas at Austin aggressively detained dozens of protesters.Hundreds of local and state police — including some on horseback and holding batons — bulldozed into protesters, at one point sending some tumbling into the street.A line of protesters with some holding cardboard signs.Officers pushed their way into the crowd and made 34 arrests at the behest of the university and Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott, according to the state Department of Public Safety.Dane Urquhart, a third-year Texas student, called the police presence and arrests an "overreaction," adding that the protest "would have stayed peaceful" if the officers had not turned out in force. "Because of all the arrests, I think a lot more [demonstrations] are going to happen," Urquhart said.In a statement Wednesday night, the university's president, Jay Hartzell, said: "Our rules matter, and they will be enforced. Our University will not be occupied."After days of unrest on campus, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson denounced pro-Palestinian protesters camped out at Columbia University, accusing them of antisemitism and calling on the school's president to restore order or resign.USC cancels graduation event amid protests-The University of Southern California cancelled its main stage graduation ceremony Thursday as college officials across the U.S. worried that ongoing campus protests against the Israel-Hamas war could disrupt May commencement ceremonies.USC announced the cancellation of the May 10 ceremony a day after more than 90 protesters were arrested on campus Wednesday night for trespassing, while one person was arrested for alleged assault with a deadly weapon. The university says it will still host dozens of commencement events, including all the traditional individual school commencement ceremonies where students cross a stage and receive their diplomas.Tensions were already high after the university cancelled a planned commencement speech by the school's pro-Palestinian valedictorian, citing safety concerns.A group of security officers surround a man on the ground, with one officer on the left putting his foot on the man's body as another holds his arm.Northwestern changes rules to block encampments-Northwestern University hastily changed its student code of conduct Thursday morning to bar tents on its suburban Chicago campus as anti-war student activists set up an encampment similar to Pro-Palestinian demonstrations at colleges nationwide.Groups including Jewish Voice for Peace and Educators for Justice in Palestine said the encampment on the Evanston, Ill., campus was "a safe space for those who want to show their support of the Palestinian people."'I'm scared': As hope fades for a hostage deal, a former captive fears for her husband still held in Gaza-Dozens participated as University President Michael Schill issued an email saying the university had enacted an "interim addendum" to its student code to bar tents, among other things, and warned of disciplinary actions including suspension, expulsion and criminal charges."The goal of this addendum is to balance the right to peacefully demonstrate with our goal to protect our community, to avoid disruptions to instruction and to ensure university operations can continue unabated," Schilling said.No arrests had been made by Thursday mid-afternoon.The swell of anti-war protests and encampments on U.S. campuses has lead to multiple arrests as police and institutions crack down fearing for student safety.
