15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.
16 Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.(COULD THIS BE 70 YEARS AFTER ISRAEL BECAME A NATION IN 1948)(IF SO THIS SATANIC ONE WORLD WHORE CHURCH WILL MINGLE TOGETHER BY 2018)(AND NOW ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY AND ALL RELIGIONS ARE MINGLING AS ONE PEACE-LOVE-JOY-GET ALONG RELIGION LEAD BY THE VATICAN RIGHT NOW 4 YEARS FROM THE 70 YEAR TIME WHEN ISRAEL BECAME A NATION).AND IN CONTROL OF JERUSALEM.

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he(FALSE POPE) causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:(CHIP IMPLANT)

REVELATION 17:1-18
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication,(VATICAN IN POLITICS) and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman (FALSE CHURCH) was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour,(VATICAN COLOURS)(ANOTHER REASON WE KNOW THE FALSE POPE COMES FROM THE VATICAN) and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.(THE VATICAN IS BUILT ON 7 HILLS OR MOUNTAINS)
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen,(1-ASSYRIA,2-EGYPT,3-BABYLON,4-MEDO-PERSIA,5-GREECE) and one is,(IN POWER IN JOHNS AND JESUS DAY-6-ROME) and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.(7TH-REVIVED ROMAN EMPIRE OR THE EUROPEAN UNION TODAY AND THE SHORT SPACE IS-THE EUROPEAN UNION WILL HAVE WORLD CONTROL FOR THE LAST 3 1/2 YEARS.BUT WILL HAVE ITS MIGHTY WORLD POWER FOR THE FULL 7 YEARS OF THE 7 YEAR TRIBULATION PERIOD.AND THE WORLD DICTATOR WILL BE THE BEAST FROM THE EU.AND THE VATICAN POPE WILL BE THE WHORE THAT RIDES THE EUROPEAN UNION TO POWER.AND THE 2 EUROPEAN UNION POWER FREAKS WILL CONTROL AND DECIEVE THE WHOLE EARTH INTO THEIR DESTRUCTION.IF YOU ARE NOT SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.YOU WILL BE DECIEVED BY THESE TWO.THE WORLD POLITICIAN-THE EUROPEAN UNION DICTATOR.AND THE FALSE PROPHET THAT DEFECTS CHRISTIANITY-THE FALSE VATICAN POPE.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.(VATICAN-CATHOLICS ALL AROUND THE WORLD OVER 1 BILLION)
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast,(WORLD DICTATOR) these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
10/ 8/2015-vatican insider-Pope urges bishops not to give in to conspiracy theories-Synod discussions get underway in the Pope's presence-Francis has called on the Synod Fathers not to give into “conspiracy” and not to act like lobbyists after 13 cardinals and bishops expressed suspicions that the assembly is being “steered” towards an approach of greater openness-Andrea Toernielli
vatican city-The first day of the Synod was marked by external and internal lobbying which led to “conspiracy” theories. Pope Francis defined them as such a day later, in a surprise statement in the presence of the Synod Fathers. What really happened in the first 24 hours of the Synod, despite Francis’ calls for an evangelical approach guided by faith and his insistence that the discussions between bishops were not to resemble a parliamentary debate?Right from the very first press briefing, some Synod Fathers were said to be calling into question the agreed working method for the assembly. Vatican Insider has learnt that the accusation was in fact far more serious. Essentially, 13 cardinals and bishops participating in the Synod, suggested that the Synod was in some way being “steered” by the General Secretary (and ultimately by the Pope) so make it so that the Synod went down the openness route. Supporters of the conspiracy theory presented two grievances: one was that the theory that the moderators and rapporteurs in the circuli minores, the language-based discussion groups, were designated by the Secretariat, the choices came from high up that is and could steer the debate. The other grievance was that members of the commission in charge of drafting the concluding document were not elected. It is interesting to note that for weeks, outside the assembly, other clerics and certain media outlets closely linked to them, had been repeating the same old chorus of the Synod being “rigged” in order to put the Church’s “traditional doctrine” on marriage “at risk”. The boldest statement regarding this, came from Cardinal George Pell, who reiterated the contents of an article published by American magazine First Things, signed with the pseudonym Xavier Rynne II. The 13 Synod Fathers who backed the conspiracy theory then appealed to the Pope. The response came on Tuesday 6 October. Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, Secretary General of the Synod, was the main figure who intervened, confirming that moderators and rapporteurs in the circuli minores were apparently elected by the Synod Fathers themselves, just like at last year’s Synod and that they were not imposed from above. Secondly, he pointed out that in previous Synods held under different pontificates, the task of drafting the concluding text traditionally lay with a select group of three to four people from the Synod Secretariat. It was Francis himself who wanted to enlarge this group a year ago, allocating one Synod Father from each continent, raising the number of participants to ten. What happened in October 2014 will happen now. So last year too there was no vote to allocate the members of this commission responsible for drafting the assembly’s concluding report. Supporters of the conspiracy theory made a mistake, confusing this commission with the committee that has the task of communicating the Synod’s message to the world, a brief text (which has moreover been scrapped this year) that has nothing to do with the much bulkier concluding document which gives an account of all speeches made and is voted on by all Synod Fathers before being delivered in the form of a proposal to the Pope.Essentially, there is no conspiracy at play. After Baldisseri’s clarifying statement, Francis gave a surprise address on Tuesday morning. He was not due to give a speech but it was clear that he wished to respond to the Synod Fathers who had made the conspiracy claims and to their external church and media supporters. Francis used the term “hermeneutics of conspiracy” defining it as “sociologically weak and spiritually unhelpful”. What he meant by this is that this is the complete opposite of the task which the Synod Fathers have been called to perform. It was a call for an end to this mentality which sees plots and conspiracies everywhere. His words attracted applause from the audience. The Pope also clarified that the two official documents of the 2014 Synod are his two addresses and the concluding report. With this statement of his, he probably aimed to reassure those Synod Fathers who considered Cardinal Peter Erdö’s introductory speech as too closed to any potential debate and further reflection on the administration of the sacraments to remarried divorcees: as if last year’s Synod and the distance covered so far had never existed. Francis also clarified that “Catholic doctrine on marriage has not been touched, no one called it into question in this assembly or in the Extraordinary assembly. It has been preserved in its integrity”. He also urged Synod Fathers not to let themselves “be conditioned or limit” themselves, “seeing the question of communion for remarried divorcees as the only problem”.An echo of what happened on the first day of the Synod could be heard at yesterday’s press briefing. The Archbishop of Philadelphia, Charles Chaput, stated: "The Holy Father said that to us yesterday morning, that we should avoid thinking of each other as conspiring against one another but to work for unity among the bishops. I think that's his role in calling us, not just the bishops, but all of us in the Church, to unity and to have trust that God leads the church. At the same time, I've never been at a church meeting where there aren't groups that get together and lobby for a particular direction.”
10/ 7/2015-Philly’s Chaput: Bishops sorting out into lobbying groups at synod-Archbishop Charles Chaput-Archbishop Chaput has issued a frank statement about Synod lobbying: “I’ve never been at a church meeting where there aren’t groups that get together and lobby for a particular direction.” Meanwhile, English-speaking cardinals seem to be lost in translation, making the task of evaluating Synod documents harder. Regarding the working document’s tendency to question whether people can live the Church’s teaching, Chaput said many families at the World Meeting of Families showed a “hunger for reaffirmation” of current church teachings-joshua j. mcelwee-vatican insider
vatican city-Bishops at the Vatican's worldwide meeting on family life issues are dividing amongst themselves to form lobbying groups in favor of various positions, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput has said.“I’ve never been at a church meeting where there aren’t groups that get together and lobby for a particular direction - and that’s going on, I assure you,” the archbishop said at a Vatican press conference Wednesday.“ That’s what happens when human beings get together,” said Chaput. “We shouldn’t be scandalized or surprised by that, as long as it’s done open and honestly and not in a way that tries to win than to arrive at the truth.”“We’re not here to win anything, we’re here to arrive at the truth that the Lord, through his Holy Spirit, is guiding the church towards,” he said. The archbishop was speaking about the Synod of Bishops, an Oct. 4-25 meeting called by Pope Francis that has brought some 270 prelates to Rome to discuss issues of family life. While Chaput’s comments widely confirm what was already known about the meeting, they are notable for the way in which they publicly acknowledge that different bishops are actively pushing different viewpoints and trying to convince others to support their views.Among the issues known to be at discussion among the prelates is church practice towards Catholics who divorce and remarry without first obtaining annulments from the church.Anecdotal reports from inside the gathering indicate that the discussions have become quite fierce at times, with some bishops forcefully talking over others or sharply rebutting their arguments.Brisbane, Australia Archbishop Mark Coleridge said in a blog post Wednesday that the discussions had a certain similarity to popcorn.“One of the bishops said to me that listening to a different speech every three minutes was like watching corn pop,” wrote Coleridge. “Stuff was going off in all directions.”Chaput was speaking Wednesday at a briefing alongside Vatican spokesman Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi and two other Synod members: Peruvian Archbishop Salvador José Miguel Piñeiro García Calderón and French Archbishop Laurent Ulrich. The U.S. archbishop is one of nine American prelates participating in the Synod. He was answering a question about reports that Francis had spoken to the entire Synod gathering Tuesday morning, asking them not to give into a sort of “hermeneutic of conspiracy” that views other bishops’ ideas with negative intent.Ulrich, who leads the archdiocese of Lille in northern France, said he heard the pope’s words as an exhortation that “everybody can say and think what he feels, but what we must do is a sort of common work.”“We must work in order to be united,” said the French archbishop. The Synod bishops are meeting Wednesday and Thursday in small discussion groups, divided by language preference. They will reconvene on Friday and Saturday into open session. All the meetings are held behind closed doors, with daily briefings on the deliberations hosted by the Vatican press office.Chaput spoke several times at Wednesday’s briefing about reports that some bishops in the Synod have called for the church to use more open and inclusive language in its teachings on family issues. The archbishop said one concern expressed in his small group was that inclusionary language should not be unclear regarding church doctrine and should not allow politicians to interpret such language in ways the church does not intend. Some bishops, Chaput said, asked questions like: “What does this word mean for our people? Can it be misinterpreted? Will it be used against the church rather than in favor of the church?”“There was a desire on the part of the bishops to be very careful about what we said,” he said. “Careful so people don’t get hurt and also that the doctrine of the church is clearly presented.”Chaput also said the task of evaluating the different Synod documents is made harder for English speakers, because generally they do not speak other languages and many of the Synod documents are in Italian. Sometimes, the archbishop said, the English language translations of the documents are inaccurate. The archbishop also spoke about the recent World Meeting of Families hosted by the Philadelphia archdiocese, the event that Francis closed with an open-air Mass on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during his September visit to the United States. Many families at the world meeting, Chaput said, had a “hunger for reaffirmation” of current church teachings on family life. The working document for the Synod, he said, “has a tendency to be caught up in a bit of despair about what the church teaches and whether people can live it.”“People want it and want to live it and were very, very enthusiastic about it,” the archbishop said of the sentiment at the world meeting towards church teaching.“Let’s make sure that we encourage the 99 sheep who are a part of ... the church’s understanding of family life - who believe in it - as we go look for the one that has felt abandoned by the church,” he said. “We have to do both.”In response to an NCR question about reports that some Synod bishops had suggested the church use more inclusionary language towards gay people, Chaput said that was not “a dominant part of the conversation” in the first days of the Synod.“I hope we find language that we can all agree to be both faithful to the church’s teaching and faithful to love and support of people with same-sex attraction,” he said. “That didn’t come up this morning in our small group discussion because it wasn’t yet the topic. It will come up, though.”The Vatican announced the leaders of the 13 different small discussion groups being used at the Synod. There are four English-language groups, led respectively by moderators: Australian Cardinal George Pell, British Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Irish Archbishop Eamon Martin, and Canadian Cardinal Thomas Collins. The four English groups also have relators, or secretaries. Those, in the same respective order, are: U.S. Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, Irish Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, Coleridge, and Chaput.Coleridge wrote Wednesday that his group had seen some good discussions take place. But he said he feared that some of the prelates’ language might be “idealized and detached.”“Some times we bishops can indulge in a kind of churchspeak, which may seem wondrous to us but which communicates little or nothing to most people,” wrote the Australian.“We will have failed if all we can come up with is a final document full of churchspeak which the Synod fathers may admire but which most of the world find incomprehensible,” he wrote.[Joshua J. McElwee is an NCR Vatican correspondent].The original article was published by NCR and appears here with permission.
10/ 7/2015-vatican insider-Synod on Family: An exchange between different languages and cultures-Cardinals and bishops attending the Synod-The circuli minores, the Synod’s smaller language-based discussion groups, are continuing the discussions they began yesterday afternoon. Chaput has pointed out that the working document risks adopting too western a vision. Synod Fathers say “yes” to dialogue” but “no” to delegating doctrinal powers-Iacopo Scaramuzzi
vatican city-Yesterday afternoon, the 270 Synod Fathers attending the Synod in the Vatican, began discussions in language-specific groups, the circuli minores as they are called. Within each group there are bishops from various countries who speak one of five chosen languages (English, Italian, French, Spanish and German). The debate, which covers issues in the sequence indicated in the working document, the Instrumentum laboris, has not yet touched on specific issues. Nevertheless, cultural differences have emerged with regard to the “language” that should be used to communicate the message of the Church. In the daily press briefing, Mgr. Charles Chaput (rapporteur of one of the groups) said that discussions got off to a “very interesting” start. The Archbishop of Philadelphia, who hosted the recent World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, along with a number of other Synod Fathers, raised doubts about “how accurate and comprehensive the facts presented” in the working document. The fear is that it may present “western Europe and the northern hemisphere’s” vision of things. The American archbishop gave an example: “language that may be offensive in Europe on in the US may be necessary in Africa or Asia”. African bishops organised a meeting for the early afternoon, before the Synod discussions resume. “We need to give an adequate response” bearing in mind that the Synod is addressing a “very varied” audience. In answer to one specific question, Mgr. Chaput said “only one or two speeches” in the general discussions that have taken place over the past few days in the Synod Hall touched on the homosexuality question. “We did not focus much on this subject which will be dealt with” in due course. While the Instrumentum laboris draws attention to the fact that there are faithful who find it hard to live according to the teachings of the Church, at the World Meeting of Families there were “many young people with children” who like the 99 sheep, “want to live according to the teachings of the Church and who gain a lot from what Jesus and the Church say. Let us encourage those who follow the Church’s teaching on the family so that they do not feel abandoned.” In response to journalists’ questions about the “language of the Church”, Peruvian archbishop Salvador Piñeiro said that “the best language in the circuli minores is the language of love, as pastors we all seek to accompany families”. French bishop Laurent Ulrich (also rapporteur of one of the groups), emphasised that what emerges from the discussions is “a language of encouragement that welcomes families whose values enrich society”.The three Synod Fathers who spoke at the Synod answered a journalist’s question about whether the solution to the cultural differences within the Church could be delegating some form of doctrinal power to national Bishops’ Conferences, as Francis had suggested in the past. According to Mgr. Chaput, “the Church is Catholic because it is universal, it reaches everyone and everyone has the same faith”; there needs to be a “dialogue between the Bishops’ Conference and the Holy See” when it comes to certain questions such as marriages between Catholics and people of other religious faiths but we need to be “careful” not to alter the Church’s Catholicism when dealing with “doctrinal questions”. According to Ulrich, “the Church is united but there are cultural differences within it” and “we cannot detach ourselves from Catholic unity or from the people that have been entrusted to us: we will need to hone our acrobatic skills”. According to Mgr. Piñeiro, the Gospel “must be announced to all peoples and Jesus’ words offer a response to all questions”. As far as the “hermeneutics of conspiracy” is concerned, the Pope “has urged us not to view each other as conspirators but to work in unity instead,” Chaput said in response to another question. In a message on Twitter, Fr. Antonio Spadaro recalled that the Pope has warned against this “hermeneutics of conspiracy”. Lobbying does go on in Church meetings, including at the Synod, but there is nothing scandalous about that. Everyone has the Church in their hearts. And we are not here to win a trophy, we are here to reach that truth which the Lord has established for His Church”.In the morning, the Holy See Press Office published the list of moderators and rapporteurs chosen by each of the 13 circuli minores which have been split into the following languages: Italicus (Italian), Gallicus (French), Anglicus (English), Hibericus (Spanish and Portuguese) and Germanicus (German). The figures elected as moderators in the three Italian-speaking groups are: Cardinals Angelo Bagnasco, President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference and Archbishop of Genova, Francesco Montenegro, Archbishop of Agrigento and Edoardo Menichelli, Archbishop of Ancona. The rapporteurs are: Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, Mgr. Franco Giulio Brambilla and Fr. Manuel Arroba Conde. The moderators chosen for the English-speaking groups are: Cardinals George Pell, Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy, Vincent Gerard Nichols, Thomas Christopher Collins and Mgr. Eamon Martin. The rapporteurs are: Joseph Kurtz, Mgr. Diarmuid Martin (Archbishop of Dublin), Mgr. Mark Benedict Coleridge and Mgr. Charles Joseph Chaput (Archbishop of Philadelphia). The moderators of the three French-speaking groups are: Cardinals Robert Sarah, Gerard Cyprien Lacroix and Mgr. Maurice Piat. The rapporteurs chosen, are: Mgr. Laurent Ulrich, Mgr. Paul-André Durocher and the Jesuit Francois-Xavier Dumortier. Cardinals Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga and Francisco Robles Ortega have been chosen as moderators of the two Spanish-speaking groups and José Luis Lacunza Maestrojuan has been appointed rapporteur. Finally, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn has been chosen as the moderator of the German group and the Bishop of Berlin, Heiner Koch, is the group’s rapporteur.“An assembly of 270 fathers plus a hundred or so auditors and experts is one thing; a group in which 30 or so Synod fathers – with some auditors and experts – can share and reflect together on certain points is another. It is a real participatory exercise. Let us not forget that the Synod is really a Synod when participation is encouraged to the max,” Mgr. Bruno Forte, the Synod’s Special Secretary told Vatican Radio, speaking about the new methodology the assembly is adopting. “There is a strong democratic spirit: each group chooses its own moderator who has the task of co-ordinating the discussion and choosing who speaks, when. Each group also chooses its own rapporteur, that is, someone who produces a summary of all the ideas that emerged during the discussions – possibly sharing these with the whole group – and then presents these during the general meetings. The work of the circuli minores is communicated to the whole assembly and this is very important. The work done in the smaller groups feeds into the collegial work of the Synod assembly as a whole.”
Pope Francis, anti-nuclear activists among Nobel Peace Prize contenders-Reuters By Gwladys Fouche and Alister Doyle-oct 8,15-yahoonews
OSLO (Reuters) - Pope Francis and a line-up of anti-nuclear campaigners headed lists of favorites to win the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize on the eve of Friday's announcement. The Geneva-based International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) was named as a leading contender for the $972,000 prize by Norway's state broadcaster NRK and by Nobeliana, a website run by historians who specialize in tracking the award.NRK said Pope Francis' opposition to nuclear weapons boosted his chances, alongside his help in brokering a deal between the United States and Cuba, and his encyclical on climate change. Nobeliana mentioned his calls for social justice. Both organizations also highlighted Setsuko Thurlow, a survivor of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, while Nobeliana picked out Sumitero Taniguchi, a survivor of the atomic attack on Nagasaki.NRK, which has correctly predicted a number of winners, mentioned Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry as contenders for concluding a deal over Tehran's nuclear program.Private broadcaster TV2 reported that they, and probably an EU representative, were considered in the final round of deliberations by the committee which is due to announce the winner at 0900 GMT.Pundits also named a list of other contenders, including Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos and Marxist rebel leader Rodrigo Londono, for their efforts to put an end to the war that has blighted Colombia for five decades.German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR, Eritrean priest Mussie Zerai and the mayor of the Italian island of Lampedusa, Giusi Nicolini, have also been named widely because of their work dealing with the refugee crisis.Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta and its editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov, known for their investigations into corruption, and Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege, who helps victims of sexual violence, have also been mentioned by commentators.Around 273 individuals and organizations have been nominated by past winners, political leaders and other dignitaries.

EU ministers want more migrant deportations By Nikolaj Nielsen-Oct 8,15-euobserver
BRUSSELS, Today, 19:43-More money and more people will be sent to help reinforce the EU’s external border as ministers in Luxembourg vow to send unwanted migrants packing. The plan is part of a broader EU migration policy that involves making sure African and Middle Eastern states readmit their own nationals.“ Those who do not require international protection, must return to their country of origin”, said Luxembourg foreign minister Jean Asselborn on Thursday (8 October).Asselborn said sending people back and getting states to implement or sign up to readmission agreements is “very much a part of all the instruments we have at our disposal to fight against illegal immigration”.The ministerial conclusions are based on a European commission ‘agenda on migration’ published late September. It says member states can use "detention as a legitimate measure of last resort" on rejected asylum seekers. It also says member states should reinforce "their pre-removal detention capacity".The plan includes injecting the EU’s border agency Frontex and the EU’s European asylum support office, EASO, with more money and staff.-Additional staff-Both agencies last week announced they wanted hundreds of additional experts to help screen and identify asylum seekers arriving in Greece and Italy.Ministers proposed 670 additional staff divided between the two agencies to help coordinate relocation and return efforts at so-called hotspots. Most will go to Frontex.“Frontex should be allocated adequate resources to enable it to scale up substantially its support on return”, noted the conclusions. The agency currently coordinates joint-return flights with member states. The plan is to set up a return office within Frontex “to facilitate, organise and fund return operations”.Around 10 joint-return flights have been organised so far this month.“This is good, yes, but not enough”, said EU commissioner for migration Dimitris Avramopoulos.So-called ‘Frontex rapid return intervention teams’ are also in the works. The Frontex teams are set to “offer support on identification, consular cooperation with third-countries” and to organise return operations for member states.Ministers also want to send European migration liaison officers to Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Pakistan, Serbia, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Sudan, Turkey, and Jordan. The officers “will explore the synergies of the EU diplomacy on the ground” on how to get the countries to cooperate.-Relocation starts Friday-Meanwhile, the EU relocation scheme to distribute some 160,000 asylum seekers from Italy and Greece to other member states starts on Friday (9 October).A group of Eritreans are being sent to Sweden by a small plane from Rome's Ciampino airport.Italy’s interior minister Angelino Alfano on Thursday described the first relocation as a “symbol of the defeat of all those who believed the EU would not move forward”.Greece, for its part, will start distributing asylum seekers in one to two weeks, said Avramopoulos.Greek hotspots would be ready “in 10 days time”, he said.Member states had in September pledged to get the hotspots up and running by the end of November. But not everyone is convinced the hotspot scheme is enough.Austrian chancellor Werner Faymann told Austrian ORF radio that “central coordination, significantly more means, significantly more staff” is needed to get them running properly by the end of year. Some 200,000 migrants transited Austria last month, with many heading to Germany. Around 164,000 asylum seekers arrived in Germany in September. Altogether, Germany says 577,000 people seeking asylum arrived in the country since the start of the year.Avramopoulos, along with Asselborn, are leaving for Italy late Thursday evening. The two will go to Rome and then to Lampedusa. Avramopoulos will also go to Athens. The commissioner then heads to Pakistan at the end of the month to try to get a readmission agreement with Islamabad.
EU ministers to discuss 'smart borders' By Nikolaj Nielsen-oct 8,15-euobserver
BRUSSELS, Today, 09:15-EU interior ministers are meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday (8 October) to discuss how to ramp up external border controls and expedite returns of unwanted migrants. The ministers are hoping to stem the flow of migrants and better manage the number of asylum seekers trying to enter the EU.Around 500,000 were detected crossing the external borders in the first eight months of this year. Most first entered Greece before heading through the Western Balkans and onto Hungary and beyond.-'Smart borders'-Among the ideas is the future roll-out of a €1 billion digital dragnet known as 'smart borders'.Smart borders is a two-tiered system of biometric scans of visiting non-EU nationals – the registered travellers programme (RTP) and the entry-exit system (EES).The European Commission had presented the package in 2013 but it was temporarily shelved following concerns over projected costs and possible law enforcement access. An EU diplomat on Wednesday (7 October) said the Commission is set to make new smart border proposals before the end of year."The wider debate on the Schengen external border will also look at how you can use technology better and the commission is bringing forward some proposals on that towards the end of the year on smart borders", he said.Tanja Fajon, a centre-left Slovenian MEP, is one of the European Parliament's lead negotiators on the file. Earlier this year she lampooned the Commission's original package."[The] indiscriminate mass collection of data without a specific just cause must be a concern for all of us", she said. But interior ministers are set to it discuss and will also listen to a presentation by the Commission for a future European border and coast guard body.-EU border guards-Both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Francois Hollande in Strasbourg said the pan-EU border corps is necessary. The idea is not new. EU migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos had already spoken about it last November. The Commission had also financed a feasibility study on it. Published last year, the study suggested a three-phase approach on setting it up.The final phase proposed an entirely new agency - the committee on Schengen border management (CSBM). It would be composed of border guards under an EU-level command structure. The Commission, for its part, will make a proposal sometime in December. The EU's border agency Frontex will be key.In September, the European Commission announced the agency's mandate would be enhanced in order to get the supra-national border agency up and running."This means strengthening Frontex and enhancing its mandate, and developing a fully operational European border and coast guard", it said.

No quick fix for latest 'wave of terror': Israel's Netanyahu-Reuters By Jeffrey Heller and Ori Lewis-oct 8,15-yahoonews
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday there was no quick fix for a spate of Palestinian "lone-wolf" attacks that the Jewish state has faced in recent days.Four people, including an Israeli soldier, were stabbed and wounded near a military headquarters in Tel Aviv as a rash of such Palestinian attacks spread to Israel's commercial capital. The assailant was shot and killed by another soldier as he fled, a police spokeswoman said."We are in the midst of a wave of terror ... There is no magic solution and the actions (we are taking) will not yield instant results, but with methodical determination we will prove that terror does not pay and we will defeat it," Netanyahu said in a prime time news conference, with top security officials by his side.Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon, who also spoke, said there was no need for a major offensive in the occupied West Bank and that pinpoint operations to arrest militants would suffice in confronting what he described as "a complex challenge".Four Israelis have been killed in stabbings in Jerusalem and a drive-by shooting in the occupied West Bank in the past week. Three Palestinians have been shot dead and scores injured in clashes with security services, triggering fears of escalation. The violence has erupted because Palestinians fear visits by Jewish groups, including lawmakers, to the Jerusalem plaza revered in Judaism as the site of two destroyed biblical temples, are eroding Muslim religious control of al-Aqsa mosque, Islam's third holiest shrine. In a bid to lower tensions, Netanyahu's office said he had banned Israeli cabinet ministers and legislators from visiting the sensitive religious site.Fearing violence after prayers on Friday, Israeli police said only men over the age of 50 and women of all ages would be permitted to enter the al-Aqsa complex, a step that has been taken often in the past during periods of high tension. While saying he was not in favor of violence and wanted to avoid confrontation with Israel, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas praised those "defending al-Aqsa"."We believe in peace and in peaceful people resistance ...We support our brothers who are protecting al-Aqsa who are suffering so much in order to protect it. We say to the Israeli government: stay away from our Muslim and Christian sites," Abbas said.-ATTACKS-In other attacks on Thursday, shortly after the incident in Tel Aviv, a Palestinian stabbed and wounded a man in the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba in the occupied West Bank, an ambulance service official said.Hours earlier, a Jewish seminary student was wounded in a Palestinian knife attack on a main road in Jerusalem. Police said the assailant was arrested at the scene. And in the northern Israeli town of Afula, two people, including one soldier were stabbed and wounded by a Palestinian who was apprehended by passers-by, police said.A Palestinian was declared dead in hospital in Ramallah after a clash with Israeli troops in the Shuafat refugee camp on the outskirts of Jerusalem and a number of other protesters were wounded, a Palestinian hospital source said. The attacks have alarmed authorities and unsettled Israelis, with Jerusalem's mayor and the deputy defense minister urging people with gun licenses to carry their weapons. At least two store owners who sell personal protection devices and weapons told Israeli media that there had been a sharp increase in demand for hand guns and pepper spray.Netanyahu praised citizens' actions in confronting the attacks, saying that "Israelis are acting to neutralize and eliminate the terrorists while in the act and this requires extraordinary bravery and initiative."Israeli government officials have accused Palestinian leaders of playing on Muslim concerns over al-Aqsa to incite Palestinians to violence, attacks that appeared to fall short of an organized uprising, in the absence of peace talks that collapsed in 2014.But Israeli military officials have noted that security cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited self-rule in the West Bank, is continuing.(Additional reporting by Maayan Lubell, Ari Rabinovitch, Ali Sawafta and Nidal al-Mughrabi, Editing by Richard Balmforth)
NATO talks tough on Russia in Syria, with scant action-Associated Press By JOHN-THOR DAHLBURG-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
BRUSSELS (AP) — NATO talked tough Thursday about Moscow's expanding military activity in Syria, but the U.S.-led alliance's chief response to the Russian airstrikes and cruise missile attacks was a public pledge to help reinforce the defenses of member nation Turkey if necessary."NATO is able and ready to defend all allies, including Turkey, against any threat," alliance secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg declared at the onset of a meeting of NATO defense ministers. The meeting attended by U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter and counterparts from NATO's other 27 countries was overshadowed by concerns about Russia's recent military actions in Syria. On Wednesday, Russian warships fired a volley of cruise missiles in the first combined air-and-ground assault with Syrian government troops since Moscow began its military campaign in the country last week.U.S. officials said Thursday that some of those missiles missed their targets and landed in Iran.Over the weekend, Turkey reported back-to-back violations of its airspace by Russian warplanes. Stoltenberg said NATO had already increased "our capacity, our ability, our preparedness to deploy forces, including to the south, including in Turkey, if needed."However, pressed about what NATO precisely intended to do to aid Turkey, which shares a border with Syria, Stoltenberg told a news conference the mere existence of a beefed-up alliance response force, as well as a new and highly nimble brigade-sized unit able to deploy within 48 hours, may suffice."We don't have to deploy the NATO Response Force or the spearhead force to deliver deterrence," Stoltenberg said. "The important thing is that any adversary of NATO will know that we are able to deploy."Carter predicted Russia's support for the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad, including the new joint offensive, "will have consequences for Russia itself," adding: "I also expect that in coming days the Russians will begin to suffer casualties in Syria."Echoing Winston Churchill's celebrated pronouncement in 1946 that an "iron curtain" had fallen across Soviet-dominated Eastern Europe, Carter told a news conference that modern-day Russia continues to "wrap itself in a shroud of isolation," and only the Kremlin can decide to alter that course.Russia called its penetration of Turkey and NATO airspace a minor incident that was unintentional, but NATO issued a strongly worded statement insisting such violations must cease."We see an escalation of Russian military activity in Syria," Stoltenberg said. "And the ministers agreed that Russia's military escalation in Syria raises serious concerns."He said NATO was "constantly assessing" the situation with Turkey's leaders, and that he would meet Thursday with Turkish Defense Minister Mehmet Vecdi Gonul.Carter essentially accused the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin of lying about its actions and intentions in Syria, saying "what is clear is that Russia said one thing and did another."As an example, the Obama administration official said, Moscow has insisted it is striking facilities of the Islamic State militant group, but that so far this hasn't matched up with the targets Russia is blasting from the air."They have initiated a joint ground offensive with the Syrian regime, shattering the facade that they're there to fight ISIL," Carter said, using an acronym for Islamic State.German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said Russia must recognize that if it targets opposition groups in Syria that are fighting Islamic State, "Russia will strengthen IS, and this can be neither in the Russian interest, nor in our interest."British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon accused Russia of making a serious situation "much more dangerous." Many NATO officials, including Stoltenberg, have expressed fears there could be an encounter, accidental or otherwise, between Russian planes and the air forces of the U.S.-led coalition attacking Islamic State in Syria.Carter said the Russians "shot cruise missiles from ships in the Caspian Sea without warning. They've come within just a few miles of one of our unmanned aerial vehicles."Dutch Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said that in Syria, "Russia is not constructive, not reliable and not cooperative — so it is of great concern."Thursday's meeting, the ministers' first since June, implemented further changes in the alliance, in line with a blueprint ordered by President Obama and other NATO leaders at the 2014 Wales summit, a reform process expected to last until the next summit in July 2016 in Warsaw.A retooled NATO is supposed to be able to deal faster and more potently with an array of new security challenges, Putin's Russia and armed Islamic extremism in the Middle East and North Africa chief among them. The new measures agreed upon Thursday include finalized plans, including command and control arrangements, for a NATO Response Force of up to 40,000 — twice the current size — and creation of new NATO headquarters offices in Hungary and Slovakia to enhance those Eastern European nations' defenses and speed reinforcement by their allies in the event of a real or perceived threat from Russia."All of this sends a clear message to all NATO citizens. NATO will defend you, NATO is on the ground, NATO is ready," Stoltenberg said.___Lolita Baldor in Brussels contributed.
US: Several Russian cruise missiles landed in Iran-Associated Press By ROBERT BURNS-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
WASHINGTON (AP) — As many as four of the 26 long-range cruise missiles that Russia said it fired at Syrian targets landed instead in Iran, U.S. defense officials said Thursday. The officials said it's unclear whether the errant missiles, launched from Russian ships in the Caspian Sea, caused any significant damage in Iran. Both the Russian government and state-run Iranian media accused the United States of inaccurate or deliberately deceptive statements.Three U.S. officials said four missiles went off course. The officials were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The Russian government said Wednesday it launched 26 cruise missiles, hitting targets in north and northwestern Syrian provinces. It made no mention of any missiles going astray, suggesting that the operation was fully successful. The missiles' intended flight paths took them over Iran and Iraq.On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense employed a little sarcasm in its denial."However unpleasant and 'unexpected' it may be for our colleagues at the Pentagon and Langley (CIA's Virginia headquarters) about yesterday's attacks by high-accuracy weapons on the (Islamic State) infrastructure in Syria -- all the same, all rockets fired from ships found their targets," said a ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov.Iranian government officials could not immediately be reached for comment, but the semi-official Fars news agency on Thursday said Western news reports about missiles going astray amounted to U.S. "psychological warfare" against Russia's intervention in Syria. An earlier report by Fars on Wednesday quoted Iraj Saghafi, acting governor of Takab in northwestern Iran, saying an explosion heard in the region was "possibly related to work in a nearby rock quarry."The cruise missile attack in Syria was part of an expanding Russian military campaign that has deepened the divide between Moscow and Washington over how to approach the Syrian civil war and the presence there of Islamic State fighters.Secretary of State John Kerry spoke Thursday by telephone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for about a half-hour, focusing primarily on Syria and Ukraine, State Department spokesman John Kirby told reporters. Kerry voiced concern that the "preponderance of targets" being struck by Russian military forces in Syria aren't related to the Islamic State. Kerry told his counterpart that the U.S. was prepared to hold further discussions with Russia to avoid misunderstandings while both countries undertake missions in Syrian airspace, according to Kirby.Kirby wouldn't discuss reports of Russian cruise missiles landing in Iran, but said such evidence would only reinforce the need for the U.S., Russia and others to "deconflict" their various military efforts in Syria. The talks, he said, also encompassed the importance of advancing a political transition away from Syrian President Bashar Assad and toward a new government. The Russian cruise missile strikes have added a new layer of uncertainty to efforts by the Pentagon to ensure the safety of U.S. and coalition pilots who are flying daily in Syria airspace. Russia also is flying attack and reconnaissance missions over Syria.Russia says its intervention is aimed at helping the Syrian government defeat the Islamic State group, but local activists and U.S. officials say the strikes have also targeted Western-backed rebels and have had the effect of propping up the Assad government.---Associated Press writers Bradley Klapper in Washington, James Heintz in Moscow and Nasser Karimi in Tehran, Iran, contributed to this report.
Syria extends major offensive to retake territory in west-Reuters By Sylvia Westall and Tom Perry-oct 8,15-yahoonews
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian troops and allied militia backed by a fresh wave of Russian air strikes and cruise missiles fired from warships attacked rebel forces on Thursday as the government extended an offensive to recapture territory in the west of the country. The assault focused on western areas where rebel advances earlier this year had threatened the coastal region vital to President Bashar al-Assad's support base. The Russian Defence Ministry said it fired missiles from ships in the Caspian Sea for a second day and had hit weapons factories, arms dumps, command centers and training camps.U.S. officials said they believed four Russian cruise missiles bound for Syria had crashed en route in Iran. Russia's Defence Ministry insisted the missiles had reached their targets in Syria. The White House declined to comment and State Department spokesman John Kirby said he could not confirm the missiles had crashed, while adding that the report pointed towards the need for procedures to prevent clashes with U.S. planes targeting Islamic State militants in Syria.Since Russia began air strikes last week it has described all its targets as belonging to the Islamic State group, although most have been in areas controlled by other rebel movements where Islamic State has little or no presence. On Thursday, Moscow said its air force hit 27 Islamic State targets in the provinces of Homs, Hama and Raqqa, while Kirby said Secretary of State John Kerry had expressed his concern to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by telephone that most of the targets hit so far were not related to Islamic State. On the ground, forces loyal to the Syrian government targeted insurgents in the Ghab Plain area in the west of the country, with heavy barrages of surface-to-surface missiles as Russian warplanes bombed from above, according to the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and a rebel there."There is an attempt by the regime to advance but the situation is under our control," said a fighter in the area from the Ajnad al-Sham insurgent group who uses the name Abu al-Baraa al-Hamawi.Speaking by Internet link, he told Reuters Russian jets had been bombing since dawn, their most ferocious attack on the area so far. He said rebels had managed to destroy a number of Syrian tanks in a counter attack on Wednesday."God willing we will repeat the massacre of the north Hama countryside as happened yesterday," he said, referring to that counter attack. "We have faced more violent attacks than this in the past."The Observatory said rebels had shot down a helicopter in Hama province in western Syria. It was unclear if it was Syrian or Russian.Syria said it had set in train a major military operation to regain the upper hand on the battlefield. Its civil war began more than four years ago and has now killed 250,000 people, sent millions into exile as refugees and drawn in world and regional powers.Assad's armed forces "have launched wide-ranging attacks to deal with the terrorist groups, and to liberate the areas which had suffered from the terrorist rule and crimes", Syria's army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ali Abdullah Ayoub, was quoted as saying by state media.-NEW FIGHTING UNITS-Ayoub did not say which areas were being targeted. He said new fighting units, including one called the Fourth Assault Corps, had been set up to wage the campaign and the army now held the military initiative.Sources in the region say Iran has sent hundreds of troops to back Syrian forces in a ground campaign coordinated with Russia's air assault. Assad's government also relies on support from Hezbollah, the Shi'ite militia from neighboring Lebanon. The Observatory's head, Rami Abdulrahman, said an assault launched by the army and its foreign allies on Wednesday in nearby areas of Hama province had so far failed to make significant gains, however."At least 13 regime forces were killed ... The clashes also killed 11 (rebel) fighters," he said in a statement, and the numbers were expected to rise as more casualties were confirmed.Around 15 army tanks and armored vehicles had been destroyed or immobilized by rebel missile strikes, Abdulrahman said. The operation that began on Wednesday in Hama appears to be the first major assault coordinated between Syrian troops and militia on the ground with Russian warplanes and naval ships.Hama province's Ghab Plain lies next to a mountain range that forms the heartland of Assad's Alawite sect.-Recapturing it from the alliance of rebel groups which includes al Qaeda's Nusra Front and which thrust into the area in late July, would help secure Assad's coastal heartlands and could provide a platform to drive rebels back from other areas.-ANGER OVER AIR SPACE-The United States has been leading a separate air campaign against Islamic State targets for a year, and the arrival of Russian war planes last week means the Cold War superpower foes are now flying combat missions in the same air space for the first time since World War Two.Washington and its allies want Assad to leave power and accuse Moscow of using a campaign against Islamic State as a pretext to target Assad's other enemies, many of which receive help from countries that oppose him. Russia, allied to Damascus since the Cold War, says Assad's government should be part of an international campaign against extremists.Neighboring Turkey, a NATO member, has been angered by violations of its air space by Russian warplanes and the Western alliance said it was prepared to send troops to Turkey to defend it."NATO is ready and able to defend all allies, including Turkey against any threats," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters as he arrived for a meeting in Brussels of the alliance's defense ministers. At the meeting, Turkey appealed to its NATO allies to shore up missile defenses.(Writing by Giles Elgood and Philippa Fletcher; Editing by Peter Graff and Alison Williams)
U.N. proposes national unity government for Libya's warring factions, obstacles remain-Reuters-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
SKHIRAT, Morocco (Reuters) - The United Nations on Thursday proposed to a national unity government to Libya's warring factions meant to end their conflict, but any deal must overcome resistance from hardliners and pass a vote in their rival parliaments to succeed.Four years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has descended into a war between Libya's recognized government and its elected parliament, and the self-declared rulers set up in Tripoli last year in a battle for control of the OPEC member state. The U.N. proposal comes after months of on-off negotiations between the two main factions. But delegates from Tripoli had already balked at proposing names for the unity government because they wanted more amendments to the initial deal.Western powers are pushing for both sides to accept the U.N. agreement, fearing violence has allowed Islamist militants to gain ground in Libya and permitted illegal migrant smugglers to take advantage of the chaos.(Reporting by Aziz El Yaakoubi, writing by Patrick Markey)

China says must make $315 billion - $630 billion green investments per year-Reuters-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
LIMA (Reuters) - China must make green investments of between 2 trillion and 4 trillion yuan ($315-630 billion) per year over the next five years, but the government can only cover 15 percent of that, China's central bank deputy governor, Yi Gang, said on Thursday."Most of the finance has to come from the private sector, so we have to provide a positive incentive mechanism," Yi said on the sidelines of International Monetary Fund meetings in Lima.Earlier this week, China confirmed it would launch a nationwide "cap-and-trade" program in 2017 to force big greenhouse gas emitters to buy credits to meet pollution reduction targets. Carbon market schemes aim in part to encourage low-carbon investments.China will also make "green finance" a top priority of the Group of 20 when it takes up the G20 chair next year, Yi said."If we don't have international cooperation, we will find that investment in the green sector will be underinvested," Yi said. "The G20 platform is a good platform."A new green finance committee in China is writing a "very important chapter" on environmental protection and sustainable growth for the country's next five-year plan, Yi added.China is the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases.(Reporting by Randall Palmer and Mitra Taj; Editing by Leslie Adler)
China turns firepower to soft power to try to win tiny Taiwan-held island-Reuters By Yimou Lee and Faith Hung-October 7, 2015 5:10 PM-YAHOONEWS
KINMEN, Taiwan (Reuters) - Soldiers on the tiny Taiwan-held island of Kinmen regularly conduct military drills repelling amphibious attacks by Chinese Communist troops from the mainland, but the problem may soon be free-for-all landings of Chinese shoppers and businessmen. The war games are a reminder that this place is the front line between China and Taiwan where beaches were mined and shots traded up until as recently as the mid-1970s, and that China has not renounced force to ensure it gains control of a territory it considers its own."If China attacks Taiwan, we will be the first to die," said Kinmen bar owner Sam Chen, 29, as he watched recent live-fire drills with fellow residents. "Of course I am worried about war, but I also hope Kinmen can build closer ties with China. It's easier for us young people to make money."There lies the rub. Many in Taiwan, especially a newly politicized youth movement, are angry about perceived economic dominance by China, likening it to an invasion all of its own. But many also see the benefits of closer trade.Rustic Kinmen, with a population of less than 129,000, is a half-hour ferry ride to China, but it takes an hour to fly to major Taiwan cities. Just off its shores, glass-walled high-rises wink seductively from the booming mainland port of Xiamen in one of China's most prosperous provinces.Kinmen is eyeing closer commercial ties with China. It wants to pipe water from Xiamen and has plans to build a bridge and set up a glittering free trade zone with the city.Taiwan's pro-Beijing, Kuomintang-led (KMT) government also hopes greater economic integration will bolster Taiwan's economy. But Taiwan chooses a new president and parliament in January when the KMT is expected to lose to the independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which is deeply suspicious of China. Beijing has claimed Taiwan since the KMT fled to the island after losing the civil war against Mao Zedong's Communists in 1949."KINMEN CAN DO WHAT TAIWAN DOESN'T DARE DO"-China is seeking unification with Taiwan under its "one country, two systems" formula by which Hong Kong, a former British colony, returned to Chinese rule in 1997. And Kinmen, or "Golden Gate", is a test for China's ambitions to recover Taiwan through soft power. If Beijing can't win over tiny Kinmen, what chance does it have to convince the other 23 million on the main island of Taiwan? Kinmen's growth is supported by Chinese visitors drawn to reminders of war such as weather-beaten pillboxes, the beach defenses, bullet holes in buildings and graffiti proclaiming: "Eliminate the Communists".It is also the site of a brand new, six-story, duty-free shopping mall, billed as the largest in Asia."In Kinmen, we can do what Taiwan can't, what Taiwan doesn't dare do," said Kinmen county chief Chen Fu-hai, who wants water, electricity and natural gas to be pumped from Xiamen.Chen has a three-year roadmap to build a "special economic zone" in which Kinmen can share Xiamen's economy. The proposal is being promoted by a pro-Beijing, non-profit organization in Taiwan with close ties to the Communist Party. It wants Kinmen to decide on the free trade zone issue by referendum. But it would still have to get the nod from the central government before a referendum can take place."As long as it's good for Taiwan's economy and meets the needs of its people, Xiamen will be happy to make it happen," Chinese state media quoted a Xiamen government official saying last year. The free trade zone is controversial because it would allow unfettered Chinese investment on to Kinmen - something that is strictly controlled in Taiwan as a whole." Kinmen residents are really worried about China," said Andy Yang, a KMT politician who supports the free trade zone idea. "But put that aside: do we want better economic development or not?"Kinmen map http://link.reuters.com/kap75w-(Additional reporting by J.R. Chinese Navy makes 1st visit to Poland to strengthen ties-Associated Press-October 7, 2015 7:31 AM-YAHOONEWS
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — A Chinese Navy destroyer, a Chinese frigate and a Chinese supply vessel sailed into Poland's navy port of Gdynia on Wednesday on the first such visit ever, marking 66 years of diplomatic ties and aiming to strengthen them even more.Capt. Maj. Przemyslaw Plonecki, the spokesman for Poland's 3rd Navy Flotilla, told The Associated Press that the flotilla's command officers paid a visit to the destroyer in an official welcoming ceremony. The Chinese Embassy website said Poland is the vessels' sixth stop on a "worldwide visit." Responding to an invitation from Poland's Navy command, the anti-air force destroyer Jinan 152, the Yiyang 548 frigate and the Qiandaohu 886 will remain in Gdynia until Sunday. They belong to the Chinese Navy's 20th Task Force.A soccer match and a rowing race will be held between Polish and Chinese seamen and the public will be allowed to visit the ships Saturday. New tally in Saudi hajj disaster shows at least 1,399 killed-Associated Press By JON GAMBRELL-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The crush and stampede last month outside of Saudi Arabia's holy city of Mecca killed at least 1,399 people during the hajj pilgrimage, a new tally Thursday showed, 630 more than the kingdom's official toll. The Associated Press count of the dead from the worst tragedy to strike the hajj in a quarter-century comes as Saudi Arabia faces threats ranging from an Islamic State insurgency, a war in Yemen against Shiite rebels and weakening global oil prices gnawing away at its reserves.Any disaster at the hajj, a pillar of Islamic faith, could be seen as a blow to the kingdom's cherished stewardship of Islam's holiest sites. This season saw two, including the Sept. 11 collapse of a crane at Mecca's Grand Mosque that killed 111 people.Saudi Arabia has been hesitant to release updated casualty figures from the Sept. 24 stampede in Mina, even as hundreds remain missing."Discrediting the Saudi handling of the hajj undermines the kingdom's prestige and legitimacy across the Islamic world," Bruce Riedel, a former CIA officer who now runs the Washington-based Brookings Institution's intelligence project, wrote on one of the think tank's blogs this week. The AP count of the dead is based on tolls offered by 18 of the over 100 countries that took part in the hajj this year. Iran said it had 465 pilgrims killed, while Egypt lost 148 and Indonesia 120.Others include Nigeria with 99, Pakistan with 89, India with 81, Mali with 70, Bangladesh with 63, Senegal with 54, Benin with 51, Cameroon with 42, Ethiopia with 31, Morocco with 27, Algeria with 25, Ghana with 12, Chad with 11, Kenya with eight and Turkey with three.Saudi officials have said their official figure of 769 killed and 934 injured remains accurate, though an investigation into the causes of the tragedy is ongoing and authorities have not updated the casualty toll since Sept. 26, two days after the disaster. Authorities have said the crush and stampede occurred when two waves of pilgrims converged on a narrow road, causing hundreds of people to suffocate or be trampled to death.Shiite power Iran, Sunni Saudi Arabia's Mideast rival, has blamed the disaster on the kingdom's "mismanagement" and accused Riyadh of a cover-up, saying the real death toll exceeds 4,700, without providing evidence to support the claim.Iran has called for an independent body to take over planning and administering the five-day hajj pilgrimage, required of all able Muslims once in their lifetimes. But the ruling Al Saud family likely would never give up its role in administering the holy sites, which along with Saudi Arabia's oil wealth gives it major influence in the Muslim world. King Salman himself is known as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The dispute comes as Saudi Arabia leads a coalition in Yemen's civil war targeting Shiite rebels known as Houthis, who have backing from Iran.Meanwhile, the kingdom has suffered gun and bomb attacks by an affiliate of the extremist Islamic State group, which holds a third of Iraq and Syria in its self-declared "caliphate." Like al-Qaida before it, the Islamic State group opposes the Saudi royal family's control over the holy sites, especially as Saudi Arabia is a member of the U.S.-led coalition targeting the militant group in airstrikes. With hundreds missing, a final death toll remains in question, even as the latest count brings the number of dead even closer to the deadliest disaster to ever strike the hajj — a stampede in 1990 that killed 1,426 people.Recent Indian documents on the Mina disaster refer to at least 2,046 photographs of the dead, though its consular officials say some bodies were photographed multiple times.Indonesia's religious affairs minister, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, said Thursday his country's diplomats have seen more than 2,000 photos purportedly of dead from the disaster, without elaborating.Fawaz Gerges, a Middle East expert at the London School of Economics, said bureaucratic confusion may be partly to blame for the discrepancies in death counts because there was not one centralized place that the dead and injured were taken. But, he said, political considerations were also likely a factor, adding: "It's bad news, and you want to sweep bad news under the rug.""The Saudi kingdom should come out and provide a tally. Transparency is the most powerful card that they have," he said. "This speaks a great deal about the anxiety and political sensitivity that Saudi officials feel."___Associated Press writers Adam Schreck in Dubai; Niniek Karmini in Jakarta, Indonesia; Nirmala George in New Delhi; Julhas Alam in Dhaka, Bangladesh; Baba Ahmed, Virgile Ahissou and Babacar Dione in Dakar, Senegal; Michelle Faul in Lagos, Nigeria, and Munir Ahmed in Islamabad contributed to this report.___Follow Jon Gambrell on Twitter at www.twitter.com/jongambrellap .
Merkel says still against Turkey joining the EU-Reuters-October 7, 2015 7:07 PM- YAHOO NEWS
BERLIN (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday that Turkey's help was needed to stem the flow of refugees to Europe but that this hadn't changed her view that Ankara should not become a member of the European Union."I have always been against EU membership, President (Tayyip) Erdogan knows this, and I still am," Merkel told a talk show on German public broadcaster ARD.Merkel was an outspoken opponent of Turkey joining the EU before she took power in 2005, advocating instead a "privileged partnership" that stopped short of full membership. But she has avoided using that term or stating her opposition too loudly in recent years, maintaining instead that membership talks between Ankara and the EU, which were launched shortly before she took office, should proceed but have no pre-determined outcome.Turkey's bid has stalled in recent years, as interest from the Turkish side has waned and European officials have grown critical of what they see as increasingly authoritarian policies from Erdoga. Now Europe is reaching out to Turkey again, hoping that it can help with the record flows of refugees from its neighbor Syria and other war-torn countries in the Middle East.Erdogan visited Brussels on Monday and was presented with a draft action plan under which Europe would offer more funding for Syrian and Iraqi refugees living in Turkey."We need to talk to Turkey about sharing the burden better," Merkel said. "That will mean that we give Turkey money ... and that we fulfill certain demands that Turkey has, such as easing visa restrictions."(Reporting by Noah Barkin)
North Korea says main nuclear complex operational, warns US-Reuters | 15 September, 2015 15:07-TIMES LIVE
The comments follow a declaration by the North in 2013 vowing to restart all nuclear facilities, including the main nuclear reactor in Yongbyon that had been shuttered. It marked the first acknowledgement since then that the plant, which has been the source of fissile material used in the country's atomic weapons programme, is operational, experts said."All the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon including the uranium enrichment plant and 5 MW graphite-moderated reactor were rearranged, changed or readjusted and they started normal operation," the North's state-run KCNA news agency said, quoting the director of its atomic agency."If the U.S. and other hostile forces persistently seek their reckless hostile policy towards the DPRK and behave mischievously, the DPRK is fully ready to cope with them with nuclear weapons any time," the director was quoted as saying.DPRK is the abbreviation of the North's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The country often makes threats against the United States and South Korea.Innovations have been made to improve nuclear weapons "in quality and quantity as required by the prevailing situation", the director was quoted as saying.Isolated and impoverished, North Korea's nuclear programme is a key source of international leverage and a means of protecting the third-generation dictatorship of the Kim family. The country is believed to be working towards developing an intercontinental ballistic missile mounted with an atomic warhead that can hit targets in the mainland United States.-Missile test? Late on Monday, the North's space agency said it was readying a new satellite for launch, indicating it may fire an upgraded long-range ballistic missile timed to around the 70th anniversary of its ruling party on Oct. 10.Any such launch would violate international sanctions although the North insists it would be part of a space programme for peaceful purposes.North Korea is believed by experts to have enough fissile material to build 12 or more nuclear weapons, and is believed by U.S. and South Korean officials to be working to miniaturise a nuclear warhead to mount on a delivery vehicle.China, the North's main ally, said on Tuesday it opposed nuclear weapons development on the Korean peninsula."We hope the relevant parties, under the current circumstances, can do more that is beneficial to safeguarding the peace and stability of the region and the peninsula," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in Beijing.North Korea conducted three nuclear tests between 2006 and 2013, drawing international condemnation. China joined the U.N. Security Council in a sanctions resolution after the 2013 test.Recent satellite imagery of the Yongbyon complex indicated new activity there, according to a report last week by 38 North, a website run by the U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Washington. The activities could be part of work to produce new nuclear material that would be a step toward adding to the country's nuclear stockpile, 38 North said."It has been nearly three years since their last nuclear test and now may be the time for them to test their evolved technology," said Park Jiyoung, an analyst at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul.
France train attack hero stabbed in California-AFP By Jocelyne Zablit-OCT 8,15-YAHOONEWS
Los Angeles (AFP) - One of three Americans who helped thwart a terror attack on a Paris-bound train was stabbed in his home state of California -- apparently after coming to a woman's rescue, authorities said Thursday.Airman Spencer Stone, 23, was stabbed in Sacramento after he got into a fight with a group of men as he was leaving a bar with friends, Ken Bernard, the city's deputy chief of police told reporters. He said police received a call at 12:46 am from a passerby who witnessed the incident.Bernard said officers who arrived at the scene found Stone with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was listed in serious condition."He is currently being treated for what appears to be non-life threatening but very significant injuries," Bernard said, adding that two male Asian suspects were being sought in connection with the attack.A source close to the investigation told AFP that Stone was apparently trying to defend a woman being harassed by a group of men outside the bar when he got stabbed. It was unclear if the woman was with Stone."A woman was being harassed and he got involved," said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The source said several of those in Stone's group -- three women and two men including him -- were drunk but it was unclear if he himself was inebriated.Video footage of the incident caught by a nearby surveillance camera and released by US media shows Stone fighting off a group of men who scatter when what appears to be a police car arrives at the scene.A red stain can be seen spreading on Stone's white shirt.- Heroes parade -Bernard said the assault was in no way related to a terrorist act or to the train attack that Stone and two of his friends helped foil while vacationing in France.Just weeks ago, the town of Sacramento staged a "Heroes Parade" in honor of the trio.Stone suffered deep slash wounds as he helped to overpower a heavily-armed gunman, 25-year-old Moroccan Ayoub El Khazzani, on August 21.Armed with a pistol, an assault rifle and 270 rounds of ammunition, Khazzani is accused of seeking to massacre passengers on the Amsterdam-Paris train.Stone was awarded the Legion of Honor, France's highest decoration, along with Army National Guard Specialist Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, a civilian, for their role in thwarting the attack. The trio were also invited to the White House by President Barack Obama and Stone received a Purple Heart and Airman's Medal from the Pentagon.Stone had only just returned to work at Travis Air Force Base near Sacramento.Skarlatos also had a near miss last week. The 22-year-old had been due to attend the college in Oregon where a gunman went on a rampage, killing nine people. The only reason he was not at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, he says, was the attention he has been getting since the train attack.Instead, he was in Los Angeles rehearsing for this season's "Dancing With the Stars," in which he has been invited to compete, when he heard of the shooting and rushed back to Roseburg where he is assigned to an infantry unit."If I didn't get called for 'Dancing' I would have been on campus," Skarlatos said."I mean, it's just absolutely insane to be in a situation like this, especially in my town, Roseburg," he said.Skarlatos put out a message of support on Thursday in a Tweet that read: "Everybody send prayers out to the Stone family today."
A FALSE PROPHET COMES FROM THE VATICAN ALSO AT THIS TIME.
ISAIAH 23:15-17
REVELATION 13:11-18
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth;(FALSE VATICAN POPE) and he had two horns like a lamb,(JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD) and he spake as a dragon.(HES SATANICALLY INSPIRED,HES A CHRISTIAN DEFECTOR FROM THE FAITH)
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him,(WORLD DICTATOR) and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.(THE WORLD DICTATOR CREATES A FALSE RESURRECTION AND IS CROWNED LEADER OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER).
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.(6-6-6) A NUMBER SYSTEM

The ships have also docked in Sudan, Egypt, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.Then-communist Poland established ties with China on Oct. 7, 1949.Poland's Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak met with his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan in Beijing in July and said then that China was a very important partner in talks about security in Asia and in Europe. Poland is also planning to train Chinese officers next year and the two nations are developing trade ties as well.
