CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State released a video on Sunday purporting to show the beheading of a group of Egyptian Christians kidnapped in Libya, violence likely to deepen Cairo's concerns over security threats from militants thriving in the neighboring country's chaos.Egypt's state news agency MENA quoted the spokesman for the Coptic Church as confirming that 21 Egyptian Christians believed to be held by Islamic State were dead.In the video, militants in black marched the captives, dressed in orange jump suits, to a beach the group said was near Tripoli. They were forced down onto their knees, then beheaded.The video appeared on the Twitter feed of a website that supports Islamic State, which has seized parts of Iraq and Syria and has also beheaded Western hostages.A caption on the five-minute video read: "The people of the cross, followers of the hostile Egyptian church."Thousands of Egyptians have traveled to Libya in search of jobs since an uprising at home in 2011, despite advice from their government not to go to a country sliding into lawlessness.Before the killings, one of the militants stood with a knife in his hand and said: "Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for."President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called a seven-day mourning period and an urgent meeting of Egypt's top military commanders, state television reported.The Coptic Church said it was confident the Cairo government would seek justice. LUMPUR, Feb 16 ― Still reeling from the crash of Flight QZ 8501 last year, low-cost carrier AirAsia’s troubles are mounting as problems surface with its foreign operations, according to the Wall Street Journal.In a report yesterday, the US daily said both increasing competition and the flagging performance of its regional operations ― chiefly in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines are raising questions about the viability of AirAsia’s franchise model.While the standardisation achieved by AirAsia despite being the minority stakeholder in the foreign partnerships has allowed it to bank on its brand recognition, this has come at a price to operations and profitability.The WSJ pointed out that the franchise model made affiliates less cost competitive, with Indonesia AirAsia paying US$5.14 (RM18.3) per available seat km while for Thailand AirAsia, it was US$5.24. With AirAsia in Malaysia, the same metric was US$3.99.“No matter what, the cost is going to be higher than the main company,” Brian Thomas Hogan, managing director of XSQ Aviation Consultancy and a former head of Zest Air that later partnered AirAsia in the Philippines, told the WSJ. The body of a British man who died when an AirAsia flight crashed in the Java Sea in December has been found, according to the Foreign Office.Choi Chi-Man, 48, was travelling with his two-year-old daughter Zoe on flight QZ8501 from Surabaya, Indonesia to Singapore when it disappeared on 27 December with 162 people on board.Mr Choi, who has family in Hull, was managing director of an energy firm.An investigation into the cause of the crash is still continuing.In a statement the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We can confirm the identification of the British victim of Air Asia flight QZ8501, Choi Chi-Man ."Our thoughts are with his family and we continue to provide them with support at this difficult time."Last month, in a statement to an Indonesian parliamentary committee, the country's transport minister Ignasius Jonan said the plane was believed to have stalled after climbing too fast to avoid a storm.

A second shooting near a synagogue hours later wounded three, and police said it wasn't clear whether the incidents were linked.After searching for the first gunman for hours, police reported the second shooting in downtown Copenhagen after midnight Sunday. One person was shot in the head and two police officers were shot in the arms and legs, police said. The gunman fled on foot.Sebastian Zepeda, a 19-year-old visitor from London, said he didn't want to leave his hotel room after hearing of the first shooting and was text messaging with his mother when the second shooting happened on the street below."I was on my bed and I heard gunshots. And my heart raced," Zepeda said. "All of a sudden the road was packed with police."Witnesses in a bar across the street from the synagogue said they saw special police teams moving in with automatic rifles."We looked out the window and saw this guy lying on the street," said Rasmus Thau Riddersholm, 33. A Danish television station reported that one civilian at the scene died as the result of gunshots.Helle Merete Brix, one of the organizers of the event, told The Associated Press that Vilks was present at the event but not injured.“ I clearly consider this as an attack on Lars Vilks,” she said.The event was titled “Art, Blasphemy and the Freedom of Expression,” an held in a cafe in northern Copenhagen. The gathering was billed as a debate on art and blasphemy.Just over a month ago, 17 people were killed in France in three days of violence that began when two Islamist gunmen burst into the Paris offices of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, opening fire in revenge for its publication of satirical images of the Prophet Mohammad.Vilks stirred controversy in 2007 with published drawings depicting Mohammad as a dog which sparked threats from Islamist militant groups.He has received numerous death threats and has lived under constant protection by the Swedish police since 2010. HALIFAX - Two people have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder after allegedly plotting to open fire at a popular Halifax shopping mall in a Valentine's Day attack that police say could have resulted in mass casualties.Police said Lindsay Kantha Souvannarath, 23, of Geneva, Ill., and Randall Steven Shepherd, 20, of Halifax, will be in court Tuesday to face the charges after an intense investigation that began with a tip to Crime Stoppers.A third person, a 17-year-old boy from the Halifax area, has been released without being charged due to a lack of evidence, but police said he remains under investigation. They said he was previously known to them, but offered no details.A fourth suspect, a 19-year-old man, was found dead by police early Friday morning in the Halifax suburb of Timberlea.RCMP Asst. Commissioner Brian Brennan said Saturday there is no indication the four suspects have any links to terrorist organizations, and that their motivation remains unclear."This group of individuals we would not define as a terrorist group," he said."Their friendship is not based on culture or ideology. They were four individuals who formed a friendship and decided to plan and commit a heinous crime."Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais said the Halifax Shopping Centre in the west end of the city was the target of the alleged plot.Brennan said three long-barrelled rifles were seized from the home where the deceased man was found, but wouldn't reveal what types of weapons they were.None of the allegations made by police or other officials about the case have been heard or proven in court.The investigation kicked into gear following a single, anonymous call to Crime Stoppers on Thursday morning from a Canadian source. Police say that led them to the home in Timberlea, a quiet Halifax suburb.Brennan said the 20-year-old man was waiting to pick up the 23-year-old woman at the Halifax airport, where both were arrested at around 2 a.m. on Friday.Police in Geneva said officers took multiple, unspecified items from her residence at the request of Canadian police.Justice Minister Peter MacKay said earlier in the day that the unidentified 19-year-old and Souvannarath had been corresponding online, "with the goal of opening fire and committing an horrific of violence against us." Police would not elaborate on their relationship.MacKay also insisted the alleged plot had no terrorist underpinnings, appeared to be random and without any specific philosophy, though he suggested the suspects could be radicalized."This appeared to be a group of murderous misfits that were coming here or were living here and prepared to wreak havoc and mayhem on our community," he said."An individual that would so recklessly and with bloody intent plot to do something like this, I would suggest would also be susceptible to being motivated by groups like ISIS and others."Brennan refused to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the man found dead in Timberlea, saying the issue has been referred to the province's Serious Incident Response Team, which reviews all serious incidents involving police in the province.A statement from the team, known as SIRT, said police found the man dead when they entered the residence.SIRT Director Ron MacDonald said Saturday the police watchdog will not release the name of the dead man but confirmed he was shot. There is no evidence he was shot by police, he said, adding part of their investigation is to determine how he died.A police official, who was not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press the young man shot himself to death after police surrounded his parents' home at around 1 a.m. Friday.Police saw his parents leave the house and called the man. As the man told police that he didn't have any guns and he was on his way out of the house he shot himself, the official said.A neighbour of the young man who was found dead said he hadn't mixed with others in the neighbourhood in recent years."He was one of those people who kept to himself, not a people person," said Steven Greenwood, 19.His mother, Cindy Greenwood, 50, said there was a couple living in the house, but she couldn't recall meeting the younger man."It's a little scary to know this is just the next house down," said Greenwood, who woke up early Friday morning to the sight of police officers carrying guns outside her house."I just found out this morning what the plan was. ... That's scary."A man in the house where the body was found came outside and asked reporters to leave, saying he had just lost his son.Another resident said the family has lived in the neighbourhood for many years and the young man who died had attended the local school.Greenwood said she felt badly for the family on her street."I can't imagine what the parents are going through," she added. "They are going through turmoil as well."The case appeared to leave many jittery and an apparent false alarm triggered a large police presence at the Halifax Shopping Mall on Saturday.Police said in an email there was "no active shooter situation" but seven youths who had a slingshot were taken into custody. There no immediate further details.

TORONTO - Ezra Levant says he's grateful for the freedom he had as an outspoken host on the shuttered Sun News Network, and while he doesn't know what he'll do next, he still has "a lot of things to say.""I still have a point of view that some people like, some people don't like, but I think it has its place in the spectrum of opinion," said Levant, noting he was "overwhelmed" by feedback from fans."I think that people had a passionate response to the Sun, pro or con, that they didn't feel for all news channels."Levant's provocative comments were sometimes a flashpoint for controversy on the conservative, 24-hour all-news channel. It went off the air early Friday after negotiations to sell the troubled channel were unsuccessful.Dubbed "Fox News North" by critics, the station launched in early 2011 but faced an uncertain future in recent months after Postmedia Network Canada Corp.announced plans to purchase the Sun Media newspapers and websites from Quebecor. The Sun News channel was not included in the deal.Reports said the closure affects about 150 full-time employees.Though Levant was sad about the closure, he said he mainly he felt gratitude."Best job of my life with amazing people," he said. "It was a lively, independent, spirited place to work. No on-air announcement was made as the screen went DARK.Sun News Network went off the air at 5 a.m. ET Friday after failing to find a new owner. Programming on the channel was replaced with a Sun TV logo.Sun Media Corp. issued a statement saying it spent months unsuccessfully trying to find a buyer, but financial losses meant it could not continue to operate."This is an unfortunate outcome; shutting down Sun News was certainly not our goal," said Julie Tremblay, President and CEO of Media Group and Sun Media Corporation."Over the past four years, we tried everything we could to achieve sufficient market penetration to generate the profits needed to operate a national news channel. Sadly, the numerous obstacles to carriage that we encountered spelled the end of this venture," Tremblay said in a statement.The network's website featured only a Sun News logo on Friday morning.The network began broadcasting in April 2011, launching a right-of-centre programming schedule, but it has had a constant challenge attracting viewers.Its supporters blamed the CRTC for not giving it the same access enjoyed by news channels operated by CBC and CTV.The federal broadcast regulator denied Sun News a guaranteed spot on basic cable TV packages in August 2013.Data released as part of that application showed that while the network was available to 5.1 million households, it was only attracting, on average, 8,000 viewers at any given time.That number was far lower than what well-established all-news networks operated by CTV and CBC were reporting. CBC, for example, said it had eight times as many viewers as Sun News.

Hosts courted controversy

Then I saw that the second angel had a sickle in his hand, such as is used in harvesting. The second angel said, Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the way to Iran. I saw those countries in a few split seconds. All of Turkey and those [inaudible;] countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another. I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries.I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia - Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor - full of blood. I saw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; Nuclear weapons used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction - men destroying one another.I heard these words, Israel, Oh Israel, the great judgment has come.The angel said, The chosen, the church, the remnant, shall be purified. The Spirit of God shall prepare the children of God. I saw fires rising to heaven. The angel said, This is the final judgment. My church shall be purified, protected and ready for the final day. Men will die from thirst. Water shall be scarce all over the Middle East. Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries.The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

The woman from Valdres was a very alert, reliable, awake and credible Christian, with a good reputation among all who knew her. This is what she saw:"I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. I saw the events with my natural eyes. I saw the world like a kind of a globe and saw Europe, land by land. I saw Scandinavia. I saw Norway. I saw certain things that would take place just before the return of Jesus, and just before the last calamity happens, a calamity the likes of which we have never before experienced.

The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia and the wealthy nations. The water will be ruined (contaminated?). We can no longer till the soil. The result will be that only a remnant will remain. The remnant in the wealthy countries will try to flee to the poor countries, but they will be as hard on us as we were on them."I am so glad that I will not see it, but when the time draws near, you must take courage and tell this.
