WHEN ARE THE 500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL IN THE SPRING TIME.(GET READY ISLAM TO BE BIRD SEED FOR THESE BIRDS)
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/m0bXU5Xqc5M
The 500 million migratory birds in Israel during the spring arrive from Africa and head toward Europe and Asia, with the peak migration occurring in March and April. While migration starts in late February, the most intense movements, particularly of birds of prey, storks, and pelicans, occur during the third week of March and continue into April.
Key Details on the Spring Migration
Peak Period: Mid-March through April.
Main Migration Route: The birds use the Great Rift Valley, which includes the Hula Valley and Eilat, acting as a "bottleneck" where millions of birds fly through the narrow land bridge.
Best Spots: The Hula Lake Park (Northern Israel) and the Eilat Birding Center (Southern Israel) are primary locations for observing the migration.
Key Species: Hundreds of thousands of white storks, along with black kites, raptors, and pelicans, pass through over these months.
uration: The spring migration runs from late February and continues into June, though the heaviest traffic is in March/April.

The 500 million migratory birds fly over Israel in the fall between late August and mid-December. The peak migration period for the autumn, when the highest volume of bird traffic occurs, is typically October and November.
Key Fall Migration Details
Location: The Hula Valley (Agamon Hula Park) in northern Israel is the premier spot to witness this phenomenon.
Timing: Migration starts as early as late June with some waders, but intensifies from mid-August through November.
Peak Festival: The "Annual Hula Valley Bird Festival" is usually held in November to align with the peak migration traffic.
Key Species: Many birds of prey (raptors), including honey buzzards and steppe eagles, cross during this time, along with massive flocks of storks and cranes.
While roughly 500 million birds pass through in the autumn on their way to Africa, the same number crosses again in the spring (mid-February to May) on their way back to Europe and Asia.

23  Concerning Damascus.(SYRIA) Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea;(WAR SHIPS WITH NUKES COMING ON SYRIA) it cannot be quiet.
24  Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25  How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26  Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
27  And I will kindle a fire (NUKES OR BOMBS) in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.(ASSADS PALACES POSSIBLY IN DAMASCUS)

US carries out ‘defensive’ strikes on Iran’s Qeshm island in Strait of Hormuz-Officials say ‘limited’ strikes not resumption of war, targeted Iranians ‘using surface-to-air missiles against US assets’; Iranian official says deal with US still out of reach-By Agencies Today, 10:59 am-NOV 3,26

The US carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, an American official said late Monday on the eve of crucial midterm elections, which US President Donald Trump has signaled could mark the start of resumed war with Iran. The strikes, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, appeared to be limited and were not a resumption of major combat operations, the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.Another official said the strikes were defensive measures against Iranians “using surface-to-air missiles against US assets.”The Pentagon referred a request for comment to the US Central Command, which oversees American forces in the Middle East. CENTCOM did not respond to requests for comment.Earlier on Monday, Iranian state media outlet IRNA reported several explosions on Qeshm Island. The Journal reported that the attack was the latest in a series of strikes carried out by the US in recent weeks.Fox News, citing officials, said the strikes were defensive and carried out in response to Iran firing at a US aircraft.Additionally, a vessel transiting the strait was struck by an “unknown projectile” that left a hole in the vessel, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said Monday. All crew members were reported safe, the agency said.Iran has claimed attacks on vessels it says took unauthorized routes, while saying other vessels have been struck by mines it laid in the early days of the war. The US military denies the naval mines claims, saying that all internationally recognized routes have been cleared of mines by US forces.‘Ball is now in America’s court’In recent weeks, Trump has hinted at renewing attacks on Iran after the US midterm elections on Tuesday, with reports saying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing him to resume large scale strikes against Iran.On Monday, the US leader indicated he might be thinking otherwise. “Iran wants a settlement, as soon as possible,” he posted on his Truth Social Platform.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, meanwhile, said indirect talks were taking place. “Given the sensitivity and gravity of the current situation, consultations and deliberations are very intensive,” Araghchi told state media. On Tuesday, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who has been Tehran’s chief negotiator in talks with the US, said that while Iran was ready for war it had given Washington a “rational response.”“The ball is now in America’s court to prevent war,” he said.A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the sides were still far from reaching a deal to end the war.“Mediators are working hard to narrow gaps between Tehran and Washington,” the Iranian official said, after Qatari mediators traveled to Tehran on Monday night for talks on a version of the draft US-Iran deal that has been under negotiation for the past eight days.“Tehran’s conditions must be met if the US wants Hormuz reopened,” the Iranian official cautioned, adding that nuclear talks could only start afterwards and that Tehran would not accept Washington’s “excessive demands.”Oil prices had plunged by more than seven percent on Monday on optimism over a possible end to the eight-month-old conflict.US Vice President JD Vance said both he and Trump were optimistic about securing an agreement.“We’ve certainly made some progress. We’ll see if we can make some more,” Vance told reporters on Monday.China also called for a return to diplomacy, while Iran’s security chief discussed the conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin.Last week, the Axios news outlet reported that Vance had sent a letter to Iranian national security chief Mohsen Rezaei about possible new talks, marking the highest-level move in months.Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said the messages received from Washington were “an acknowledgement of our victory.” A senior Iranian official said that Tehran was ready to reopen Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas supplies, within two days but only if Washington agreed to its long-standing list of demands. In September, Iran proposed a seven-day plan to reopen the strait, with demands including ending the war on all fronts, unfreezing Iranian assets, lifting oil sanctions and ending its counter-blockade of Iranian ports.“The possibility of implementing this plan in two days is another indication of Iran’s good-faith approach,” Tehran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told reporters at a briefing.October saw the most attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz since March, as Iran has tried to ramp up economic pressure on the US to get it to lift its blockade. The mood was grim Monday at the Manama Dialogue, an annual security summit in Bahrain organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.United Arab Emirates presidential adviser Anwar Gargash told attendees the US and Iranian stances were far apart, and “if these positions are not bridged, then we have to worry about the worst.”Gulf nations have spent billions of dollars to boost their defense capabilities since the war began. Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty told the gathering in Bahrain that the next escalation “will be more dangerous, more destructive, and it will lead to nowhere.”China will send a special envoy to Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia in early to mid-November, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters Monday.

World's energy supply buffers have been eroded — UAE oil exec-Trump said weighing whom to scapegoat for Iran war as he clashes with Netanyahu over renewed attack-US president reportedly weighing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and US military chief Dan Caine as options; Trump said to favor giving talks more time before new round of strikes-By Nava Freiberg, Jacob Magid, ToI Staff and Reuters 2 November 2026, 10:42 am

US President Donald Trump may scapegoat his defense and military chiefs for the state of the Iran war, according to a Sunday report, even as he considers resuming attacks on the country following the US midterm elections on Tuesday.Trump reportedly clashed with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over that question in a phone call over the weekend, the latest in a series of disagreements they have had about whether to attack. The premier — who is in a precarious position after losing his majority in the Knesset in Tuesday’s election — was said to have pushed for a return to strikes, while Trump favors giving more time to negotiations. The war is deeply unpopular in the United States, and with no resolution to the conflict in sight, is expected to hurt Trump’s Republican Party in Tuesday’s votes for the US Congress. Oil prices have risen as Iran continues to obstruct shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.Against that backdrop, according to The Atlantic magazine, Trump is looking for someone to blame for the course of the war and is speaking with advisers about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chair of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. Both have been leading advocates of the war.Trump’s anger has reportedly grown since his advisers mistakenly assured him ahead of the war’s start in late February that it would be over long before the midterms.Citing two unnamed sources outside the administration who are close to Trump, the report said Trump is asking about Hegseth and Caine’s job performance, though it did not indicate that he is on the verge of firing either. The report added that Hegseth is unpopular in the White House and has been providing Trump with rosy assessments of the fighting.“Hegseth is good at telling the president what he wants to hear,” one of the outside advisers told The Atlantic.Hegseth has also fired the Pentagon’s top military planner, Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia, with Caine’s office appearing to be out of the loop by first issuing a statement thanking him for his decades of service, only to say later that the previous statement “did not appropriately reflect the full circumstances.”Trump, Netanyahu clash on ‘tough’ phone call-At the same time, however, Trump is still publicly floating a return to strikes on Iran after the midterms. In a phone call on Saturday, he once again clashed with Netanyahu over whether to renew attacks, Axios reported. In a conversation sources described as “tough” and “direct,” Netanyahu pushed Trump to restart the campaign, while Trump wanted to allow more time for negotiations over the war to play out.Trump, on Sunday, confirmed having a “very good talk” with Netanyahu but declined to divulge what they talked about, beyond confirming that Iran was among the topics. Earlier reports did not indicate any disagreement between the two leaders during the call.A day earlier, speaking to reporters, Trump said negotiations with Iran were “going fine” but that the Islamic Republic was “not very reliable.”“We still have to take care of, I would say, one or two sites, but we can do that in 10 minutes,” he said. “You probably could look at Pickaxe Mountain, and you have to take care of that.”Pickaxe Mountain has been flagged by Western intelligence as a site likely used to store nuclear material, and has not been struck yet by the US in the war.Throughout the war, Trump has mused publicly about resuming attacks on Iran, including hitting Pickaxe Mountain, and has repeatedly threatened major attacks, only to later back down. Last week, he indicated that the US and Israel could resume the strikes, saying prior to the election that they must “finish the job.”Netanyahu reportedly pushed for strikes prior to the election, but Trump, as well as IDF Chief Eyal Zamir, pushed back. For now, according to a Channel 12 report on Sunday, Trump wants Israel to refrain from interfering with the diplomatic effort.Qatari mediators have held talks with Iranian officials in Doha for three consecutive days while maintaining direct contact with US Vice President JD Vance and Trump’s top envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the report added. The prime minister is wary of the talks, the network said, fearing they could lead to a dramatic easing of pressure on Iran. The White House and Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment on the report.World’s energy supply buffers eroded — UAE oil exec-Meanwhile, conflict is continuing in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has sought to obstruct since the beginning of the war. The US has blockaded Iranian ports in response.Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said two oil tankers “exploded” after striking mines while traveling through an “unauthorized route” in the strait, Iranian state media reported on Sunday.Iran has imposed restrictions on vessels seeking to pass through the strait and has attacked ships it says violate those restrictions, as it seeks to assert control over the strategic waterway and exert pressure on the US.On Monday, the CEO of Abu Dhabi’s state-owned oil company ADNOC said the world has eroded its supply buffers by draining nearly 1 billion oil barrels from global inventories since the war began. The cost of shipping and logistics has risen to 30 percent of the cost of a barrel, from 5% before the Iran war, Sultan Al Jaber added at the UAE’s ADIPEC conference.Diesel stockpiles in some areas are at 35-year lows for this time of the season, while others face an LNG supply gap of 600 billion cubic feet, he said.Prices of diesel in many markets have surged to record highs, boosted by wartime supply disruptions and pose inflation and cost-of-living threats to governments and consumers.“We need expanded strategic storage, larger stockpiles of products, and flexible refining capacity closer to consumer markets,” Al Jaber said. “Infrastructure must be built before it is needed and enabled by advanced logistics.”Last month, the International Energy Agency agreed to release more than 20 million barrels of diesel to the market and any oil remaining from a record emergency reserves release pledged in March to boost supply and cool soaring prices.

Israel said pressing Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah from joining renewed war with Iran-Citing security source, public broadcaster reports Jerusalem warned Beirut via US that fighting will flare up again if Hezbollah attacks Israel-By ToI Staff Today, 5:49 am-NOV 3,26

Israel has asked the Lebanese government to deploy troops to set up roadblocks in areas where Hezbollah operatives live in order to prevent the terrorist group from joining the fray if war resumes with Iran, Israeli television reported Monday, citing a security source. The broadcaster said the request was relayed by US mediators, with Jerusalem warning Beirut that fighting in Lebanon will flare up again if Hezbollah attacks Israel. It was not clear why Jerusalem did not reach out to Lebanon directly, with the report noting the recent US-backed direct talks between the sides on implementing the framework deal meant to disarm Hezbollah and phase the Israel Defense Forces out of southern Lebanon.Hezbollah dragged Lebanon into the Israel-US war with Iran on March 2 in support of its Iranian patrons, prompting massive Israeli airstrikes and a subsequent ground invasion of southern Lebanon before the agreement to end the conflict was reached in June, though sporadic fighting has continued. The negotiations have been hampered by Hezbollah’s refusal to comply with the deal, which calls for the IDF to withdraw from areas of south Lebanon it held in parallel with the deployment of the Lebanese army, starting with so-called pilot zones, under the condition that Hezbollah disarms. But the Iran-backed terror group has refused to do so.Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun said last week that several key issues remain unsolved, adding that the Lebanese state and army were prepared to address security concerns through “official mechanisms and established coordination channels” rather than military action.Lebanese officials have said continued Israeli strikes are hampering Beirut’s efforts to disarm Hezbollah, while Israel has argued that the Lebanese army has not proved capable of assuming the security role envisioned under the US-backed ceasefire agreement.Israel says its strikes in Lebanon target operatives for Hezbollah and other terror groups, or come in response to Hezbollah fire on IDF troops. The IDF holds a buffer zone in southern Lebanon.Agencies contributed to this report.

Netanyahu said pushing for renewed strikes after US midterms-Vance says US ‘feeling pretty good about prospects’ of a deal with Iran; Trump: ‘It could happen!’
Diplomat tells ToI that agreement under discussion would see Tehran swiftly reopen Strait of Hormuz in exchange for US sanctions relief, to be followed by comprehensive nuclear talks-By Jacob Magid, Lazar Berman and Agencies Today, 1:39 am-NOV 3,26

The Trump administration on Monday signaled a negotiated deal with Iran was possible after Tehran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, albeit under strict conditions, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was said to still be lobbying for a resumption of attacks.“Oil Prices are DROPPING LIKE A ROCK, down almost $10 a Barrel, A RECORD, because people feel that there will not be a War with Iran. Iran wants a settlement, as soon as possible. It could happen!” US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social a day before the midterm elections, in which a top issue has been the rise in energy prices since fighting began earlier this year with joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran.Trump in recent weeks had hinted about renewing attacks on Iran when voting ends Tuesday in the United States. But while speaking at the Washington Reflecting Pool on Monday, he indicated he might be thinking otherwise, resuming a pattern of alternating between threatening major strikes and pushing for a deal.Asked by reporters if he was considering striking Iran after the midterms, Trump replied “no,” though he has also previously played down the prospect of attacks before ordering them.Vice President JD Vance, meanwhile, reported that there had been “a number of good conversations with the Iranians.”“The president and I both feel pretty good about the prospects for potentially coming to a negotiated settlement,” Vance told reporters, adding that he had discussed the issue with Trump an hour earlier. “We’ve certainly made some progress. We’ll see if we can make some more.”“We’re going to keep on working at it… The Iranians are always a little unpredictable,” he said.Trump “retains kinetic options, he retains non-kinetic options, but we certainly made some progress. We’ll see if we can make some more,” Vance continued.Asked whether the US has given Iran a deadline before Trump follows through on threats to resume strikes, Vance said that the US has not.The vice president went on to claim that the US has already destroyed Iran’s nuclear program — even though Trump still talks about the possible need to bomb a number of other nuclear enrichment sites and even though Iran still maintains a stockpile of highly enriched uranium.“Having destroyed their nuclear program, we want to make sure they don’t rebuild it or try to rebuild it. That’s what matters most to the United States,” Vance said. In the past, he has said Washington’s main priority is restoring the flow of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, whose effective closure by Iran has led global gas prices to spike.“They care a lot about their sovereignty. They care a lot about economically rebuilding. We do think that there is a pathway there, but it really does require a firm and verifiable commitment that they don’t rebuild that nuclear program,” Vance said.???? NOW: VP JD Vance declares Iran is NOT getting out of this unless they are blocked from ever rebuilding their nuclear program President Trump and JD holding strong ???????? Advertisement "He retains kinetic options, he retains non-kinetic, options. We've certainly made some progress…We want to… pic.twitter.com/CqqlWBIrRY — Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) November 2, 2026-Trump stressed in his remarks Monday that his bottom-line demand was that Iran not possess a nuclear weapon.“We’re not going to allow Iran ever to have a nuclear weapon, and they understand that. They’ve understood that and they’ve said it even recently,” Trump said.“If we allowed Iran to have a nuclear weapon, this country could never function in the same way. The whole world would be a different place,” he said.He insisted that the operation was not actually a war because “we’ve done very little fighting” recently, after the sweeping US and Israeli strikes that began in late February wrapped up months ago.“We wiped out their leaders — first level of leaders, the second level of leaders, and they’ve asked us, please stop doing that, and we will,” Trump further said.‘Very intensive’ negotiations-Echoing Vance, two regional officials who spoke to the Associated Press said diplomatic efforts have made progress, with Qatari mediators holding two rounds of talks last week with Iranian officials. The two officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing what they said were classified briefings they had received from American, and in one case Israeli, officials.A diplomat familiar with the negotiations told The Times of Israel Monday that a delegation of Qatari mediators arrived in Tehran during the evening to resume talks with Iranian officials about a potential agreement. The deal under discussion would see the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran in exchange for sanctions relief from the US, followed by comprehensive talks on Tehran’s nuclear program, the diplomat said.Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that “intensive” talks with Washington were taking place via mediators.“Consultations through mediators are very intensive. We have presented our conditions and proposals, and everything depends on the political rationality of Washington,” Araghchi said in comments carried by state media outlet IRNA.Quoting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, state media in Iran reported that supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei gave “certain authorities” to the elected government in talks with the US and mediators.Iran seeks “to solve the problem with dialogue,” Pezeshkian said, according to the IRNA news agency.Iran’s foreign ministry said it was considering a two-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the US agrees to its conditions, having previously proposed a one-week timeline.“The possibility of implementing this plan in two days is another indication of Iran’s good-faith approach. We have stated that, if Iran’s demands are met, it would be possible to restore security to the Strait of Hormuz and resume the negotiating process within a short period,” said foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, adding that the “exchange of messages is still ongoing” via mediators.Baghaei said the plan Iran had submitted in September to end the war remained the focus of discussions, but he confirmed comments attributed to Araghchi on Saturday that the proposal could be shortened.“The basis of dialogue and talks between Iran and the US via mediators is still Iran’s seven-step proposal, which is now condensed, making it possible to implement it within two days,” he said.Trump in September rejected the seven-step proposal, which called for the US to end its blockade on Iranian ports, Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz waterway, a US waiver on Iranian oil sales, the cancellation of new sanctions on Iran and then talks on other issues.Baghaei reiterated that condensing the plan would not change Iran’s underlying stance that a return to talks on the country’s nuclear program could only happen after it verified that all its conditions had been met.Asked whether the possibility of transferring Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile to another country had been raised in the talks, and whether Iran might agree to that, he said no.Netanyahu said pushing for renewed strikes-Amid the diplomatic efforts, two regional officials and a third person familiar with the matter told the Associated Press that Netanyahu was pushing for another wave of strikes on Iran after the US elections on Tuesday.Netanyahu pressed for strikes during a call over the weekend with Trump, who would not commit to taking military action, according to a person who was briefed on it.Other US allies in the Middle East are warning against more strikes, saying it would destabilize the region and could lead Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen to step up their attacks on Saudi Arabia and Red Sea shipping, a third regional official said. Iran-backed militias in Iraq could also get involved. That official, and the person familiar with the Netanyahu-Trump call, were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.A resumption of the conflict with Iran could potentially help Netanyahu form an emergency government after he and his allies lost their Knesset majority in last week’s elections. Netanyahu also pushed for renewed strikes before the vote as he sought to highlight his security credentials to a public deeply scarred by Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terror onslaught. The Israeli government did not immediately comment. The White House did not directly respond to questions about Netanyahu and Trump’s discussion of potential new strikes during the weekend call, which the premier’s office also not has commented on.

TRUMP BETTER WATCH OUT IF HE WANTS TO STOP ALL ISRAELS AID.WE WILL KNOW AFTER TONIGHTS ELECTIONS.IF ALL THE MUSLIMS WIN TONIGHT.WE KNOW GOD WON'T STAND FOR TAKING ISRAELS BILLIONS AWAY IN AID.AND AMERICA WILL BE RULED BY LOTS OF LUNATIC ISLAMISTS.

Top Israeli financial, security officials said taken off guard by Trump announcing imminent halt to military aid-By Lazar Berman and ToI Staff-NOV 3,26

Officials in the Finance Ministry say they were surprised by US President Donald Trump’s announcement that military aid to Israel would cease by the end of the year, according to Hebrew media reports.“No formal document was submitted from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the end of aid,” says an official, according to the Walla news site. “The ministry was aware of the intention to end it, but was surprised by the intention to do so immediately.”The Ynet outlet quotes an unnamed senior Israeli financial official as saying the announcement has grave consequences for the economy: “Giving up two years of aid is $8 billion. Where will we get this? It’s clear — from citizens’ taxes.”Officials in the Defense Ministry and the military were also reportedly surprised by the announcement.“We did not expect this announcement, certainly not today,” a senior defense official told the Kan public broadcaster.“There is ongoing dialogue with the Americans, and we can say that we were surprised. We will study the implications of the decision, which has yet to reach professional officials,” the official is quoted as saying. The Prime Minister’s Office is expected to comment on Trump’s statement soon.

Trump suggests ending US aid will refute criticism that Israel gets more than any other country-By Jacob Magid-NOV 3,26

Explaining his support for ending military aid to Israel, US President Donald Trump suggests he doesn’t want to give ammunition to critics who knock Washington for giving more to the Jewish state than any other country.“Why should we suffer the slings from lunatics like an El-Sayed when they don’t need it,” Trump tells Fox News.“It’s a bad talking point. Because then you’d say, ‘Why don’t we give everyone $4 billion? Israel is our number one. We give them more than anybody else,’” he continues.Trump insists that Israel doesn’t need the money and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the one who raised the idea — even though the premier has said he proposed ending aid gradually, not ceasing it immediately. Moreover, the current aid package is not supposed to expire until the fall of 2028, not this year as Trump claimed.“If they did need it, I would say keep it going. But we reached an agreement on that,” Trump says-“And can I be honest with you, [Netanyahu] brought it up. He said, ‘I think it would be appropriate if we do not receive aid.’ Because he understands that this is one of the points of contention,” Trump says, appearing to acknowledge how unpopular aid to Israel has become in the US.“Israel has been a great ally — much more reliable than most,” Trump notes.BREAKING: President Trump says the U.S. will end roughly $4 billion in annual aid to Israel by the end of the year, revealing that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to the decision. pic.twitter.com/qUhAyomiDb — Jackson Gosnell (@jacksongosnell) November 3, 2026-High-stakes elections-El-Sayed, AIPAC, antisemitism and Israel: 5 US midterm races to watch-Tuesday’s votes will test Jews’ longstanding support for Democrats, weigh pro-Israel candidates from both parties, and measure the far left’s influence on support for moderates-By Luke Tress 2 November 2026, 10:39 pm-With Democrats hoping to exploit US President Donald Trump’s unpopularity to win control of Congress during Tuesday’s midterm elections, the stakes are high for Jews as well, with many of their concerns on the ballot.A central issue is how Jews will handle the Democratic Party’s increasing hostility to Israel. Most American Jews have long been aligned with the Democratic Party, but far-left candidates have alarmed some Jewish voters in areas including New York and Michigan. Some of the races will test whether anti-Zionism in the party and issues surrounding Israel and antisemitism will alter Jewish American voting patterns.Polling indicates that American Jews are also largely opposed to Trump.Other elections are pitting pro-Israel candidates from each party against one another, while yet others will test potential presidential candidates or measure the far left’s influence on support for more moderate Democrats.El-Sayed in Michigan-The Michigan Senate race, pitting Democrat Abdul El-Sayed against Republican Mike Rogers, is serving as a litmus test for Jews’ longstanding support for the Democratic Party.El-Sayed has repeatedly alarmed Jews with his rhetoric about Israel and Jewish issues, particularly his response to an attempted terrorist mass killing at a Michigan synagogue and preschool: “Hurt people hurt people.” He later apologized for the comment.Democrats will likely need to hold onto the Michigan Senate seat to gain control of the chamber. The Democratic incumbent, Gary Peters, is retiring. The race’s role as a crucible was clear over the weekend when El-Sayed’s opponent in the Democratic primary, Haley Stevens, issued a shock endorsement of Rogers.Stevens and El-Sayed, while both Democrats, had been uncomfortable as teammates since the primary. Those tensions climbed further when El-Sayed supporter Cenk Uygur, a far-left commentator, posted an El-Sayed advertisement blaming Israel for expensive groceries in the US.El-Sayed distanced himself from the ad, but the video sparked a back-and-forth with Stevens, who also criticized El-Sayed for his relationship with streamer Hasan Piker, Uygur’s nephew.Leading Democrats fumed at Stevens after her endorsement, with Jewish Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer denounced her “despicable betrayal.”In the Michigan maelstrom are many Jewish voters who are opposed to both El-Sayed and the Republican Party.Nonnegotiable Michigan, a Jewish advocacy group, had pushed El-Sayed to make commitments to Jewish safety and self-determination for weeks. On Sunday, the group said it was urging Jewish Democrats to write in Emma Lazarus, the 19th-century Jewish American poet, as a candidate if they could not support either El-Sayed or Rogers.Other Jews in Michigan are supporting El-Sayed.2 pro-Israel candidates in the Hudson Valley-New York’s 17th Congressional District, north of New York City, presents a different kind of test. The race is between incumbent Republican Mike Lawler and Democratic challenger Cait Conley.Unlike some other contentious House races, both Lawler and Conley are pro-Israel.Conley is a decorated military veteran and former national security official who has backed Israel’s partnership with the US and distanced herself from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s anti-Zionism.Lawler is an outspoken supporter of Israel who has built ties with Jewish communities, particularly Orthodox and Hasidic groups, in the Hudson Valley district since taking office in 2023.An estimated 19 percent of the district’s residents are Jewish, according to a 2024 study commissioned by the Jewish Electorate Institute. Many Jewish voters in the district are Orthodox and lean conservative.Conley will test the performance of a moderate, pro-Israel Democrat against a Republican with similar positions on Israel. The two candidates are neck and neck in polls.A potential presidential candidate in Georgia-In Georgia, incumbent Democratic Jewish senator Jon Ossoff is running against Republican Mike Collins. Some of Collins’s family members and former employees have come under scrutiny for far-right politics, including antisemitic and white supremacist views.Ossoff has angered some Jewish community members by voting to cut off some arms sales to Israel.Ossoff has the backing of the Jewish Democratic Council of America. The race is significant because Ossoff is seen as a potential 2028 presidential contender.Polls put Ossoff ahead.Mamdani an issue in NY governor raceThe New York State governor’s race puts the moderate, incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul against Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman, who is Jewish.Hochul is supportive of Israel and New York’s Jewish communities and has attacked Blakeman’s ties to Trump during the campaign.Blakeman has sought to tie Hochul to Mamdani, anti-Zionist protests and antisemitism.Jews are targeted in hate crimes far more than any other group in New York City, the largest Jewish community in the US, according to NYPD data.Hochul has drawn some fire from pro-Israel Jews for her collaboration on campaigns and legislative initiatives with Mamdani, although she has distanced herself from some of his anti-Israel positions.Hochul on Sunday, at the close of the campaign, went to a sports bar in Queens with Mamdani and US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, another prominent anti-Israel voice on the left.Hochul holds a firm lead in the mostly Democratic state and has secured endorsements from Jewish groups, including Hasidic organizations in New York City.Jewish votes for Blakeman could offer evidence of dissatisfaction with the Democratic establishment in New York State and show that an association with Mamdani and the far left can drag down more moderate Democrats with Jews.Pro-Israel Jewish Democrat fights in Florida-US Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat, is running against Republican Scott Singer in Florida’s 25th Congressional District. Both candidates are Jewish and are largely aligned on Israel, condemning accusations of genocide in Gaza and opposing efforts to cut off US military aid to Israel.Moskowitz, an outspoken opponent of antisemitism on the left, has said he is “proud” to have the backing of the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC, a group that has been demonized on much of the left.Singer, the former mayor of Boca Raton, has criticized Moskowitz for voting for the war powers resolution in 2026 that came in response to the Trump administration striking Iran without congressional approval.Singer has also sought to tie Moskowitz to the Democratic Party’s left flank. The two candidates are close in polls, although surveys have found varying results.A loss for Moskowitz would remove one of the more prominent pro-Israel Jewish voices from the Democratic Party in the House.JTA contributed to this report.

18 settlers detained for assaulting security forces during illegal outpost removal-As troops tear down Givat Ora Yisrael in West Bank, protesters set up barricades and light fires on roads in area-By Emanuel Fabian 2 November 2026, 8:54 pm

Israeli security forces arrested 18 settlers who rioted and attacked troops during the evacuation of an illegal outpost in the northern West Bank on Monday, the military said.Dozens of Border Police officers and Civil Administration soldiers arrived at the Givat Ora Yisrael outpost, near the Palestinian town of Salfit, to demolish it.Givat Ora Yisrael has been evacuated by Israeli authorities in the past. The military said the troops “conducted a renewed enforcement operation against several illegal structures built in a closed military zone… where Israeli civilians have repeatedly engaged in violent and illegal activities.”There were no reports of injuries.Footage showed an excavator demolishing a house at the outpost while settlers were holed up on the roof, and a car being destroyed by a backhoe.Other images showed fires set in the area, apparently by the settlers.Israeli rioters from the illegal outpost “set tires on fire and placed roadblocks on main roads in the area in an attempt to hamper forces from the enforcement operation,” according to the military.“As a result, roads and main routes remained blocked throughout the morning, disrupting the daily lives of residents of the area and causing roadblocks and traffic congestion across all roads in the area,” the military said, adding that the forces “cleared the roadblocks to restore order in the area.”The IDF said that during the evacuation of the outpost, dozens of settlers “engaged in physical and verbal violence against security forces, despite the forces’ efforts to avoid physical confrontation.”The troops detained a total of 18 suspects “for assaulting and obstructing security personnel,” and seized several vehicles belonging to the rioters, the army said. The suspects were handed over to the police for questioning.“Incendiary materials, weapons used for assault, and pepper spray were found in one of the vehicles,” the IDF added.Security sources said that the outpost has been used by extremist settlers as a staging ground to carry out attacks on Palestinian villages in the area. The outpost was located in Area B of the West Bank, which is supposed to be off-limits to Israeli settlers.Under the current government, settler extremists have been emboldened to establish illegal outposts not just in Israeli-controlled Area C of the West Bank, but also in areas A and B, which are under the administrative control of the Palestinian Authority.Over 200 illegal settlement outposts have been established in the West Bank during the four-year term of the outgoing government, many of which have reportedly been set up with the coordination of settlement municipal authorities, the IDF, and other state agencies.A small percentage of outposts are set up without such coordination, and it is these outposts that are often the target of enforcement by the Civil Administration, a quasi-military agency within the Defense Ministry controlled by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the architect of the government’s massive expansion of the settlement enterprise.Residents of these outposts speak openly about being motivated by a desire to drive Palestinians off their lands in adjacent villages, with the effort moving beyond Area C to all other parts of the West Bank.Israel held an election for the Knesset last week that produced inconclusive results, with neither the coalition under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor the bloc of parties seeking to oust him having a clear path to forming a new government.Settler violence against Palestinians has soared this year and spiked further in the weeks leading up to the election.Israel has faced growing international criticism over the surge in violence, which Netanyahu has downplayed as the work of a small number of delinquents from outside the West Bank. Critics accuse the government of condoning and even encouraging the violence, which has led to the displacement of dozens of Palestinian families. The IDF also faces mounting criticism for troops often standing by while attacks unfold, actively participating, or failing to prosecute those responsible.

Post viewed tens of millions of times-Conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson claims Netanyahu pushing Trump to nuke Iran-Far-right podcaster asserts PM pleading daily for strike, target would be Pickaxe Mountain, fallout would contaminate water for 100 million people, World War III ‘inevitable’By ToI Staff 2 November 2026, 7:49 pm

Far-right commentator and conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson claimed Sunday that the United States, under pressure from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, could soon launch a nuclear strike against Iran, amid reports that fighting could soon flare up again after months of relative calm.“Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran,” Carlson claimed in a lengthy post on X. “The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program.”“No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place,” declared Carlson, who has garnered criticism from former conservative allies for his antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric.“The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. ‘Bibi calls [US President Donald] Trump about it every day,’ says an informed observer,” Carlson continued. He said that Netanyahu is “cornered and desperate” after losing his governing majority in last week’s election. “He can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics… Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war.”Carlson did not explain how he reached the conclusion that renewed war would mean a US nuclear strike, only warning that such a strike would “radically accelerate the destruction” caused by the previous round of fighting across the Middle East and Gulf.“Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people,” Carlson claimed. “And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent.”“After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final,” Carlson prophesized, predicting that “hundreds of millions of people” will be killed “if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week.”As of Monday evening, Israel time, the post had been viewed more than 60 million times.Social media users pointed out that Carlson has predicted an imminent US nuclear strike on Iran several times since April.Pickaxe Mountain has been flagged by Western intelligence as a site likely used to store nuclear material, and has not been struck yet by the US in the war. Trump has mentioned the site as a prime target if strikes are resumed, telling reporters on Saturday, “You probably could look at Pickaxe Mountain, and you have to take care of that.”But Trump, in September, publicly scorned the idea of a nuclear attack on Iran.Asked whether he had ruled out using a nuclear weapon against Iran, he said that he had, calling the question “stupid.”“I would never say that but the answer is yes,” Trump told a reporter in the Oval Office. “There is no reason for it… What a stupid question.”“They’re totally defeated militarily, and now I should use a nuclear weapon on them? What a stupid question,” he repeated.Israel and the US launched a joint campaign against Iran on February 28 in a bid to destabilize the regime and destroy its nuclear and ballistic missile capacities. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes across the region, including at Israel, as well as by blockading the Strait of Hormuz, choking oil deliveries and rattling the global economy. A stalemate in the war has persisted for months, alongside stalled talks on a permanent ceasefire and Iran’s nuclear program. The White House in May accused Carlson of spreading “fake news” a day after he told an Israeli news station that Netanyahu had dragged the US into the war with Iran.In his podcast, “The Tucker Carlson Show,” the host regularly blasts Israel in terms that many describe as evoking classic antisemitic tropes. He has also, in the past, denied that Hamas is a terror group, saying it “seems more like a political organization.” He has also hosted avowed antisemites such as Nick Fuentes.Carlson visited Israel in February to interview US Ambassador Mike Huckabee, who invited him for the talk after the podcaster criticized him on a show.Israel initially considered barring Carlson from entering the country for the expected visit, but decided against the move so as not to cause a “diplomatic incident,” according to a Channel 13 report at the time. After his brief visit, Carlson claimed the Israeli government targeted his family, called the Jewish state “probably the most violent country on earth,” and aired numerous antisemitic tropes.

Stores’ freezer goods spoiled by apparent cyberattack in several European countries-Temperatures of cold storage devices in some supermarkets in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Estonia remotely turned to warm; follows similar incident last month in France-By AP 2 November 2026, 5:59 pm

STOCKHOLM — Supermarkets in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and Estonia were hit Monday by problems with freezers and fridges that apparently were caused by cyberattacks, forcing some to dispose of ruined food. The problems follow a case last month in which attackers remotely took control of refrigeration systems in hundreds of supermarkets and independent stores across France, sending temperatures soaring. In Sweden, ICA Group supermarket chain spokesperson Gustaf Nilsson told news agency TT that “a limited number” of stores were affected overnight by an incident that affected refrigeration and freezing systems. He declined to give a specific number. The ICA Kvantum branch in Sjobo in southern Sweden wrote on its Facebook page that its fridges and freezers had been hacked and set to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). It said it was working to discard the affected items. The Coop chain said that six of its stores in central Sweden had problems with their fridges and freezers, TT reported, though it didn’t immediately have details. The Delhaize chain said that an “IT incident” had affected refrigeration systems in several dozen of its stores, mostly in Belgium but also a few in neighboring Luxembourg.“In the affected stores, the range of fresh and frozen products is temporarily somewhat limited. Our distribution centers are operating normally, and there has been no disruption to deliveries to our stores,” spokesperson Sarah De Meester said. The Carrefour supermarket chain in Belgium said a “cyberattack targeting refrigeration installations only had an extremely limited impact,” affecting 15 of its more than 700 stores. In Estonia, a company that makes the affected technology said that one of its clients had been hit by a cyberattack in which attackers accessed a computer controlling refrigeration and turned up the temperature to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), public broadcaster ERR reported.Jann Mutso, the CEO of Kitman Coldtech, declined to say which store’s cooling system had been affected but said that the attack was responded to within minutes and there was no significant damage. The Selver chain said one of its outlets was affected. The cyberattacks in France appeared to target old systems.

Fourthline, Veridas close merger backed by up to €65M in funding-Combined identity verification business targets 200M checks in 2026 and €85M in annual recurring revenue by 2029-Nov 3, 2026, 10:38 am EST | Joel R. McConvey

European identity providers Fourthline and Veridas have completed their merger, announced in July, creating a combined business offering identity verification, compliance and fraud prevention technology. The transaction closed on November 3, 2026, after all closing conditions were satisfied. The merger is backed by up to €65 million ($73 million) in financing from existing shareholder Finch Capital, new equity investor Seaya Andromeda and debt provider Ashgrove Capital. The funding will support product innovation, debt refinancing, strategic acquisitions and a shareholding reorganization that provides partial liquidity to Veridas shareholders. Both companies were EBITDA-positive at closing. The companies project more than €50 million in combined revenue and approximately 200 million identity verifications in 2026. They expect to reach €85 million in annual recurring revenue by 2029. The companies also anticipate €20 million in annual run-rate synergies, primarily through cross-selling their technologies to each other’s customers.Complementary markets, services close gaps for customers-The merging firms say their services are complementary, with limited customer overlap. Based in Pamplona, Spain, Veridas focuses on face and voice biometrics, and has a growing customer base in Latin America, with presence in the U.S. and southern Europe. Fourthline is based in Amsterdam, and specializes in digital identity for KYC, compliance and fraud protection, with a customer base of regulated financial services providers in northern and central Europe. The companies say the combination brings Fourthline’s compliance and decisioning capabilities together with Veridas’ biometric, document and voice technologies, creating a broader identity verification and fraud prevention offering. The companies cite rising AI-generated fraud and expanding compliance requirements as drivers of the merger. The companies say customers can now work with one provider across Europe, Latin America and the U.S., while existing contracts, integrations and support arrangements remain in place. Integration of the two platforms will proceed in phases. In a July interview with the Biometric Update Podcast, then-Veridas CEO Eduardo Azanza explained how the companies’ complementary technologies, customer bases and geographic markets informed the merger.Stoddart takes CEO role, Azanza becomes president-Fourthline CEO Paul Stoddart takes over as CEO of the combined company, headquartered in Amsterdam, while Azanza becomes president. The combined entity will maintain offices in Stockholm, Pamplona, Barcelona, Mexico, São Paulo and Boston.Stoddart says that the closing establishes “a true European leader in identity and fraud prevention.”“Starting today, a business partner onboarding customers in Amsterdam, Madrid, London, Mexico City, São Paulo or Bogotá will be able to apply a single verification standard through a single provider. Our first job is to ensure continuity of service for existing customers; our second is to give them access to incremental value.”Azanza says the merger will strengthen the combined company’s ability to combat fraud while maintaining regulatory compliance and a commitment to the ethical use of AI.

SecuGen’s MOSIP fingerprint scanner ready for use with Ugandan national ID-Nov 3, 2026, 9:45 am EST | Chris Burt

SecuGen’s Unity 20 MOSIP fingerprint authentication device now works with Uganda’s national ID system, and has been launched commercially for businesses in the country that require biometric transaction security.Uganda’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) migrated 28 million records to its new MOSIP-based system, and had more than 35 million total enrollments as of February. With SecuGen completing the setup for its fingerprint device to work with the national ID database, its scanner can now be used for authentication individuals against the database to complete everyday transactions. The government of Uganda recently changed its policy to use the National Identification Number (NIN) as the tax identifier for individuals, further expanding the use cases for authentication against the national ID.The biometric scanner is MOSIP L1-certified and fully compliant with MOSIP SBI 2.0 specifications. It includes a FIPS 140-3 Level 3 Foundational Trust Module for biometric data encryption and signing at the point of capture.SecuGen Corporation CEO Won Lee says in the company announcement that “(g)oing live in Uganda is exactly what this device was built for: secure, reliable fingerprint authentication inside a national ID program that serves an entire country.”“Organizations in Uganda can now buy a MOSIP-certified fingerprint device that works with the national ID system today,” says SecuGen VP of Sales Jeff Brown. The Unity 20 MOSIP is FBI-certified for FAP 20 image quality and designed for indoor or outdoor use.SecuGen VP of Engineering Dan Riley told Biometric Update in an interview at MOSIP Connect 2025 that the company’s scanners are designed to balance very high image quality, resulting in strong authentication accuracy, with affordability.Brown suggests the Unity 20 offers a suitable combination of robustness, accuracy and affordability for high-volume organizations like banks, mobile money agents, telecom operators and government agencies.Businesses in Uganda can now purchase Unity 20 MOSIP scanners through SecuGen’s authorized resellers.

Innovatrics biometric IAD certified by CLR Labs for High level protection-Argos, ComplyCube upgrade offerings-Nov 2, 2026, 4:10 pm EST | Chris Burt

A new certification for Innovatrics’ identity verification software, along with updates to Argos Identity and ComplyCube’s KYC software platforms, reflects the new reality of deepfake fraud and camera-path injection attacks as the greatest threat to biometric onboarding.Injection attacks are forecast in the “2026 Injection Attack Detection Market Report and Buyer’s Guide” from Biometric Update and Goode Intelligence to grow at a compound annual growth rate of just over 57 percent to surpass 300 million in 2028.Innovatrics scores 0% APCER in High level test-Biometric injection attack detection (IAD) technology from Innovatrics has been certified to the high level of Europe’s CEN/TS 18099 standard in an evaluation by CLR Labs.“High” is the most effective level of IAD defined by CEN/TS 18099, and is required for remote identity proofing at the “Extended” level of assurance, which qualified trust service providers (QTSPs) and other regulated digital identity services must meet.Innovatrics’ Identity Verification Toolkit iOS SDK scored an attack presentation classification error rate (APCER) of zero and a bona fide presentation classification error rate (BPCER) of 1.3 percent in the CLR Labs evaluation. The Toolkit is used in the company’s Enterprise Identity Verification software.“An attacker at this level needs only one way around the camera, and the tools for trying, from virtual cameras to tampered apps, are easy to get hold of,” says Filip Stiglic, enterprise architect and injection attack prevention lead at Innovatrics. “That is why no single check decides the outcome. Signals from the device, the image and the session are weighed together on the server, where the attacker cannot reach them. The harder part is doing all of that without getting in the way of genuine users, because a system that stops attackers but turns away real people with them only moves the problem somewhere else.”Argos Identity builds up IAD layer of KYC platform with sensor, device checks-Argos Identity has expanded the biometrics capabilities of its “ID check” platform to check the sensor and device at the capture stage. The technology defends against biometric injection attacks with motion sensor verification and device consistency checks across three verification points. The injection attack detection (IAD) software also gives operations teams session-level visibility, according to the company announcement.ID check’s IAD sits in front of the ID document authenticity, face biometrics matching and passive liveness detection steps in the flow.Argos has been gradually building up its IAD layer. Earlier this year, it implemented checks of the number of successful verifications coming from a single device, and then added step consistency checks before the latest update with sensor verification. Face biometrics are also checked for duplicate records.“Trustworthy identity verification needs an approach that checks not only the face, but also the environment where verification takes place and the documents being submitted,” says Wonkyu Lee, CEO of Argos Identity.Argos says it was able to provide identity verification with documents from 179 countries and regions in 2025, with automation rates as high as 94.47 percent. The company added a new OCR engine in August, 2026.Korean ticketing platforms have adopted ID check to perform identity verification for reservation management.ComplyCube layers in IAD-ComplyCube has added IAD to its Secure Capture technology to harden its protection against deepfakes. The company says its new IAD capabilities check device integrity, the capture environment, and media submission indicators as a layer beyond its PAD, which has been confirmed compliant with the Age Check Certification Scheme’s (ACCS’s) Level 2.

Armenia rolls out identity infrastructure for biometric passports, ID cards-IN Groupe, A.C.I. PPP brings end-to-end identity system online-Nov 3, 2026, 9:30 am EST | Joel R. McConvey

Armenia has begun issuing a new generation of biometric passports and electronic identity cards through HayPass, the private operator established by a consortium of IN Groupe and A.C.I. Technology. The landmark project marks the start of a long-term public-private partnership (PPP) to “build the foundations for secure, modern and citizen-centric identity services in Armenia,” says IN Groupe Acting Chairman and CEO Yann Haguet.HayPass, which manages system implementation, infrastructure and offices for the project, was originally established by Idemia Smart Identity and A.C.I. Technology. IN Groupe subsequently acquired Idemia Smart Identity, bringing its interest in the Armenian partnership under IN Groupe. With production of the biometric credentials beginning in the capital of Yerevan, Haguet calls the PPP for biometric identity credentials “one of the most critical and significant public infrastructure projects in Armenia.” The CEO says IN Groupe and A.C.I. Technology were chosen for the job based on “proven capabilities to deliver such large-scale critical infrastructure projects in a short amount of time.”The credential system covers the full identity journey for Armenian citizens at home and abroad, as well as foreigners living in Armenia, from pre-enrollment through enrollment to document delivery. Biometric passports and ID cards will be personalized locally in Yerevan. Fourteen service centers are operating initially, including two in the capital, with the network planned to expand to 23 locations.Government retains identity verification authority-Applicants can complete pre-registration and payment online before attending a HayPass office for fingerprint capture and photography. The state retains responsibility for identity verification and decisions on document issuance, while the private operator provides enrollment, production and delivery services. The release quotes Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, who holds up the biometric credential partnership as a model for other jurisdictions to follow. “From the outset, our ambition has been to deliver a state-of-the-art solution,” Sargsyan says. “I am pleased that our private partner has shared this commitment and successfully delivered on our joint vision. Together, we are providing Armenian citizens with a secure, modern identity solution that meets the highest international standards.”“This project sets a new benchmark for public service delivery in Armenia and serves as a strong example of what can be achieved through successful public private partnerships,” Sargsyan adds. The partnership includes the opening of a new identity enrollment and document issuance center inaugurated over the weekend. The HayPass partnership will also see increased investment in infrastructure, local capabilities and knowledge transfer, Haguet says, “to ensure that Armenian citizens benefit from a trusted and user-friendly identity experience for years to come.”

Somalia puts Hubiye national ID verification platform into operation-Consent-based identity checks connect Somalia's national ID database with banks and public services as digital government integration advances-Nov 2, 2026, 3:57 pm EST | Ayang Macdonald

Somalia’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced the implementation of Hubiye, its national ID verification platform, as the country expands the use of digital identity across banking and public services. The system enables participating institutions to check identity credentials against NIRA’s national database. The ID authority announced the development towards the end of October in a post on its Facebook page, stating: “NIRA has implemented the Hubiye system which facilitates the verification of the authenticity of identity credentials by service providers while also enforcing legal procedures to safeguard the security of citizens’ data.”Hubiye is one of three foundational digital public infrastructure systems launched by NIRA in May last year, alongside the Certificate Delivery System (CDS) and the eAqoonsi app. The latter provides citizens with a digital version of their national ID, which authorities are encouraging them to use to access services. The operationalization of Hubiye comes as Somalia moves from building a national ID database towards making the national ID a functional layer of its digital public infrastructure. A service provider initiates verification by submitting an applicant’s national ID number to Hubiye. The system sends a one-time password by SMS or email to the ID holder, who supplies it to the provider to authorize verification against NIRA’s database. In April last year, the Somali government directed public-facing service providers to integrate with Hubiye to facilitate identity verification and access to services. While integration with the platform is initially free, NIRA says certain service providers may eventually pay for access.UNDP reported in May 2026 that Hubiye supported real-time identity verification across 25 integrated services, including commercial banking, with the system serving approximately 1.2 million citizens.Hubiye’s implementation also supports Somalia’s broader digital government plans, including Halmeel, a unified public service delivery platform established by a Cabinet resolution in April. In an interview with Biometric Update last month, Halmeel Director General Mohamed Dubo said the platform is expected to launch by the end of March 2027, with plans to initially integrate about 70 government services. He noted that the platform depends on NIRA, as the national ID is the only accepted identification credential at Halmeel’s physical service centres. NIRA is a principal partner in the initiative, and the two institutions are working to integrate their systems. These developments are part of the Somali government’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its digital public infrastructure and advance digital transformation, with the national ID serving as the foundation for the wider service-delivery ecosystem.NIRA has set a target of enrolling at least 15 million people in its national ID system by 2029, as authorities seek to expand its use across public and private sector services.

Moldova data breach exposes records linked to 750,000 national ID numbers-Attackers queried 1M personal identifiers through government services, prompting widespread shutdowns and a security investigation-Oct 30, 2026, 12:20 pm EDT | Ayang Macdonald

A cyberattack on Moldova’s digital government infrastructure exposed personal information associated with approximately 750,000 national identification numbers, according to preliminary findings from the country’s Electronic Governance Agency (AGE).According to a technical update by the AGE on October 27, the attackers queried about one million state identification numbers of a natural person (IDNP), which is the basic identifier used in the country to verify individuals for access to a wide range of public services. The 13-digit number underpins the country’s unified digital government architecture. The preliminary figures do not mean that 750,000 digital identity accounts were hacked. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said the figure represents cases in which attackers obtained at least one piece of personal information associated with an identifier. The incident took place between October 19 and 23. Information exposed included names, dates and places of birth, family relationships, health insurance status, social benefits, driving licence details, photographs, vehicle ownership, bank account numbers and tax information. Not every affected person had data exposed in every category.According to AGE, the attackers exploited vulnerabilities in government services accessible without authentication, using personal identification numbers to retrieve data and then information obtained from those queries to extract further records. In the wake of the crisis, the country’s President Maia Sandu has convened an emergency meeting for the “coming days” to look into the situation and decide on what next steps to take, Radio Free Europe reports. The head of the country’s Cybersecurity Agency, Mihai Lupascu, said the attack was “without a doubt” the largest recorded so far, describing it as “highly sophisticated.” It affected approximately a third of the resident population.Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said authorities are investigating possible involvement by foreign state actors, but no perpetrator has been identified publicly. He insisted that Moldova will continue to make cybersecurity a priority and would do everything it takes to strengthen its cybersecurity architecture in order to guarantee its digital sovereignty.“This is a matter of the highest priority for us, and we will continue to focus on protecting citizens’ data, and preventing such incidents in the future. To achieve this, we must invest in our security, including cybersecurity,” Tofan is quoted by state news agency MoldPres as saying.Authorities examined 82 digital public services and temporarily disconnected vulnerable services and information systems to contain the attack. Most affected services have since undergone remediation, with operations being restored following security checks. There are similar concerns in Denmark where government is thinking whether to reissue the Central Person Register (CPR) after personal numbers of about 8.8 million people were hijacked. In Senegal, a breach of the country’s population database in February halted ID card issuance for days.Moldova has been modernizing its identity infrastructure in the last five years through different projects including the introduction of electronic ID cards in April last year.

AI agent security adoption helps push 1Password past $500M ARR-Developer demand for identity and access controls accelerates as AI agents move into business and personal workflows-Nov 2, 2026, 2:43 pm EST | Joel R. McConvey

Canadian identity security firm 1Password was an early mover in adapting its business around the emergent agentic ecosystem. The company has now surpassed $500 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), with net new ARR growing approximately 60 percent through the first three quarters of fiscal 2026 and around 90 percent year over year in Q3.1Password now serves more than 200,000 businesses, including 85 percent of the Forbes AI 50. Business customers now account for more than 75 percent of total ARR, a share that continues to grow. The company maintains “strong double-digit free cash flow margin.”1Password attributes the acceleration partly to growing adoption of its developer and AI security tools as organizations seek to secure AI agents and the workflows they operate.Usage of 1Password’s developer and AI security tools has increased sharply, with monthly active human users growing 200 percent year over year. Monthly active non-human identities using the tools grew 500 percent over the same period.Developer and AI security tools are now used in 16 percent of 1Password’s business accounts. The company says customers adopting those tools are generating ARR growth approximately five times faster than other ustomers.Developers are increasingly integrating 1Password into the workflows where AI agents are built and operated, according to the company. This is in keeping with the industry-wide shift toward agentic AI, as organizations and providers rethink what identity and authentication means in the context of autonomous agents acting on behalf of human users.1Password extends credential controls to personal AI agents-In 1Password’s 2026 End of Vibe Adoption whitepaper, Nancy Wang argues that organizations deploying AI agents in critical systems need clear technical controls for runtime identity, accountability and auditing. The challenge, she says, is translating governance policies into enforceable controls over what agents can actually do.1Password is investing in its Unified Access platform, which brings together 1Password for Agents, Credential Broker and Privileged Access. The platform is designed to secure identities and credentials, manage access and audit activity across employees, AI agents and machines. While Unified Access targets enterprise identity and credential management, 1Password for Agents extends the company’s approach to personal AI assistants, allowing individuals to approve account access without supplying passwords directly to the agent.“People need to remain in control of what agents can access and what they can do,” says David Faugno, CEO of 1Password. “The defining challenge is not simply to make agents more capable, but to give them a trusted way to act on our behalf.”1Password for Agents enables personal AI assistants to use stored credentials for approved tasks without directly exposing those credentials to the agents. When an agent needs to sign in to a service, it identifies itself to 1Password and requests access to a stored credential. 6 West Bank Palestinians arrested for trying to build rockets to launch at Israel-Shin Bet and police say Jenin-area residents to be charged soon; settlers set fire to vehicles and building in West Bank after evacuation of illegal outpost-By Emanuel Fabian and Nurit Yohanan Today, 12:02 pm-NOV 3,26

Six Palestinians from the Jenin area in the northern West Bank were arrested for attempting to build rockets to launch at Israel, the Shin Bet security agency and Israel Police announced on Tuesday. The investigation by the Shin Bet and police uncovered a terror network that had manufactured a rocket and explosive devices and had conducted at least three launch tests, according to a joint statement.“The investigation also revealed that the cell received information via a messaging app concerning materials required to manufacture explosives, from an outside source who was in contact with the main suspect in the affair,” the Shin Bet and police said. The main suspect confessed to having established the cell and gave up his fellow members. He claimed the rocket tests had shown successful results in power and range, and that after each test, the cell made improvements ahead of the next.Another suspect confessed to helping the cell obtain explosives.Forces seized several weapons, including an assault rifle and an RPG, along with “written materials containing information and instructions for manufacturing explosives, rockets and explosive devices intended for use against the State of Israel and security forces,” the statement said.Prosecutors were expected to file indictments against the six in the coming days.In recent years, there have been several attempts by Palestinian terror groups to develop and launch crude rockets from the West Bank at Israeli settlements and at Israel, with little to no success.Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, police said Border Police officers captured a wanted Palestinian and another suspect during a raid in the village of Kafr Dan, near Jenin, a day prior. The wanted man, affiliated with the Palestinian Authority’s ruling Fatah party, “acted to advance terror activity while maintaining ties with other individuals, and had been hiding from security forces for an extended period,” police said. The Border Police officers arrived undercover at a clothing store on Monday in Kafr Dan, where the wanted man was allegedly hiding, surrounded the building, and called on him to surrender.“After realizing that the building was surrounded, the wanted man exited with his hands raised and surrendered to the force, which arrested him at the scene,” police said, adding that the business owner was also detained for assisting the wanted Palestinian in hiding.Settlers said to set fire to vehicles, building in 2 locations in West Bank-Separately on Tuesday morning, Palestinian media outlets reported that extremist settlers set fire overnight to two vehicles and part of an unoccupied building in the South Hebron Hills.Hebrew graffiti was sprayed on the building, reading: “Evictions = chaos.”On Monday, Israeli security forces arrested 18 settlers who rioted and attacked troops during the evacuation of an illegal outpost in the northern West Bank.Palestinian media outlets also reported that settlers set fire to several vehicles overnight in the village of Majdal Bani Fadil in the Nablus area.No injuries were reported.Settler violence against Palestinians has soared this year and spiked further in the weeks leading up to last week’s election, which produced inconclusive results, with neither the coalition under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor the bloc of parties seeking to oust him having a clear path to forming a new government.Israel has faced growing international opprobrium over the surge in violence, which Netanyahu has downplayed as the work of a small number of delinquents emanating from outside the West Bank. Critics accuse the government of condoning and even encouraging the violence, which has led to the displacement of dozens of Palestinian families. The IDF also faces mounting criticism for troops often standing by while attacks unfold, actively participating, or failing to prosecute those responsible.

Black conservative group pushes pro-Jewish, Israel messaging in Michigan-Center for Urban Renewal and Education says purpose is ‘to remind black Christian voters of unique and special reasons to stand with Israel’; billboards don’t back any candidate-By Andrew Lapin Today, 10:34 am-NOV 3,26

YPSILANTI, Michigan (JTA) – A Black conservative group is distributing signs and paying for billboards in Michigan encouraging Black voters to support Jews and Israel, in the days before a contentious US Senate race in which the Democratic candidate has struggled to shore up both voting groups. The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, has paid for a series of yard signs reading “Blacks and Jews Standing Together” throughout cities with high Black populations, including Detroit, Flint and Ypsilanti. The nonprofit’s director, Star Parker, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in an email that their goal is “to remind black Christian voters of unique and special reasons to stand with Israel.”Parker said CURE is also paying for billboards in the area reading “Self Defense is Not Genocide” and “Many Black Evangelicals Agree that Israel Has a Right to Exist.”The signs and billboards do not name any candidates. But Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee, Abdul El-Sayed, has alienated many Jewish voters with his rhetoric on Israel and comments on Jewish safety. He has also had difficulty shoring up Black support, another traditional Democratic constituency. That has shifted somewhat in the race’s final days, with one poll commissioned by the Detroit News suggesting that 87 percent of likely Black voters would support El-Sayed.Still, there can be distrust between Black and Arab communities as with Jewish and Arab populations. Sam Robinson, a Detroit-based reporter for a historic Black newspaper who has interviewed scores of Black voters in viral interviews, recently told the Columbia Journalism Review, “There’s a scarcity mindset that there are only so many resources and Arabs are somehow taking Black people’s share.”Republican Mike Rogers, meanwhile, has courted Black voters as well as Jewish ones, with pro-Rogers ads highlighting tensions between local Black and Arab communities. A new super PAC linked to Rogers has spent heavily on ads stating that El-Sayed “has been disrespectful and dishonest with Black voters.”CURE’s signs targeting Black voters appeared in the final week of the campaign. They followed an October 22 interfaith roundtable in Detroit hosted by the organization, in which a local rabbi appeared alongside Black pastors to discuss the history of Black-Jewish organizing — a longtime alliance that has been shaken in recent years for a number of reasons.Rabbi Aaron Bergman of Adat Shalom, a Conservative synagogue in the Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills, participated in the CURE roundtable. Over email, he told JTA that politics was not meant to be the focus of the event.“It was mostly about teaching about antisemitism, which I guess at this point in history is political,” Bergman wrote.El-Sayed has focused much of his campaign’s homestretch on shoring up the Black vote, visiting Black churches and holding events with former president Barack Obama and senior US Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, a Black congressional leader. Driving up turnout in Black communities, usually one of the Democrats’ strongest constituencies, is viewed as key to his chances of taking the seat.Pro-Israel Democrat US Rep. Haley Stevens’ last-minute decision to endorse Rogers instead is a wildcard. Star told JTA she believed many “black Christian voters” would follow her lead.“Their support for Israel needed a boost,” she said. “I believe this endorsement has taken Mike Rogers over the finish line with Black voters.”Yet there are signs that Palestinian rights may be a more animating issue among Michigan’s Black voters this year than in the past. Pro-Palestinian state Rep. Donavan McKinney, a democratic socialist, won his primary challenge against a pro-Israel incumbent in a majority-Black, Detroit-area congressional district in August. And during one Stevens primary campaign stop in Detroit, a Black community organizer directly confronted her over her support for Israel.

At least 31 killed in Russian strike on Ukraine aid site; dozens missing under rubble-‘Scale of the tragedy is terrifying,’ says Zaporizhzhia regional official; attack part of major Russian barrage: 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles, 59 cruise missiles said launched-By Derek Gatopoulos Today, 2:11 pm-NOV 3,26

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — The death toll from a Russian attack in southern Ukraine on a site where people had gathered to receive humanitarian aid rose to 31 on Tuesday, with dozens still missing, as a wave of overnight strikes targeted power plants across the country, damaged hospitals and wounded scores of people.Dozens of rescuers and volunteers continued to search the cratered blast site of a destroyed aid facility and shelter in Komyushuvakha, a village in Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region, hoping to find some 45 missing residents alive under the rubble. Instead, more bodies were pulled out and carried away in white plastic sheeting.“The scale of the tragedy is terrifying,” Mykhailo Semikin, acting head of the region’s military administration, wrote in an online post. “This is one of the worst tragedies in terms of the number of civilian victims in our region since the start of the full-scale war.”Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions, triggering emergency power cuts, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an online post that noted the barrage coincided with US elections.“The Russians think America won’t notice this signal of theirs,” he said. “But we need to notice and stop such terror. We need to help Ukraine defend its skies; otherwise, Russia will never stop its missile strikes.”Three days of mourning were declared in Zaporizhzhia where Russian bunker-busting bombs, filled with nearly 1.5 tons of explosives, were used in Monday’s attack. An utterly horrific Russian attack on the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. Patients were transferred to other hospitals, Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration, said.Russia’s Ministry of Defense said Tuesday that it had shot down 856 Ukrainian drones overnight. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 493 drones were fired toward the Russian capital.A Ukrainian drone attack wounded two employees at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl, regional Gov. Mikhail Yevrayev said Tuesday. He added that there was damage to the refinery’s infrastructure.Rolling blackouts have been instituted in the south, west and east of Russian-occupied Crimea following attacks on energy infrastructure, Moscow-installed officials said Tuesday.

French judges investigating war crimes complaint against IDF over 2024 Beirut strike-Crimes against humanity unit of Paris Judicial Court appoints team to probe French-Lebanese artist Ali Cherri’s civil suit over his parents’ deaths in bombing of apartment building-By AFP and ToI Staff Today, 1:48 pm-NOV 3,26

France has opened a judicial investigation into a war crimes complaint over an Israeli strike on a residential building in Lebanon in 2024, lawyer Clemence Bectarte told AFP on Tuesday.French-Lebanese artist Ali Cherri, whose parents were killed in the Beirut strike, filed the complaint as a civil party last spring alongside the International Federation for Human Rights, Bectarte said. The crimes against humanity unit of the Paris Judicial Court has appointed two investigating judges to the case, she added, hailing the move as “a first.”AFP has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces for comment. The IDF has previously said it follows international legal norms, strikes only legitimate military targets, and has stressed that Hezbollah operates in civilian areas.“For nearly two years, I have been fighting… to ensure that the Israeli bombing that killed my parents and five other civilians does not go unpunished,” Cherri told AFP of the November 2024 strike on the residential building in central Beirut.“What happened to my parents is not an isolated case… I hope this investigation will help break the impunity enjoyed by Israeli officials responsible for attacks against civilians in Lebanon and Palestine,” he added. On the evening of 26 November 2024, hours before a ceasefire agreement was due to take effect between Lebanon and Israel, an airstrike landed on an apartment building in Beirut’s Barbour district. There was no evacuation warning prior to the strike, and the area had not… Advertisement — Pheebs (@galpalpheebs) April 2, 2026-The human rights group said the strike hit at about 5:30 p.m. on November 26, 2024, and destroyed a ninth-floor apartment owned by Cherri, as well as apartments on the seventh and eighth floors. The group identified the dead as Cherri’s parents, Mahmoud Naim Cherri and Nadira Hayek, and domestic worker Birki Negesa, among others. The filing argued that the bombing of a civilian building could constitute a war crime under French criminal law and international humanitarian law. FIDH said it draws in part on analysis by human rights groups Forensic Architecture and Amnesty International.Amnesty International said at the time it supported the case and that its own investigation found no evidence of a military objective in or near the building at the time of the strike. It also said civilians received no effective advance warning and that the attack should be investigated as a war crime. The strike came during the 2023-2024 conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which began when the Iran-backed terror group attacked Israel in support of Hamas in the wake of the October 7, 2023, massacres in southern Israel. Some 80,000 residents of northern Israel were displaced due to the terror group’s near-daily attacks.Israel responded with airstrikes and shelling, and the low-level conflict escalated into full-scale war in September 2024, with an Israeli ground operation in southern Lebanon and the assassination of longtime Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other senior figures in the terror group.A US-brokered ceasefire with Hezbollah came into effect in November 2024.Around 4,000 people were killed in Lebanon during that conflict, according to tallies that don’t differentiate between civilians and fighters, while 47 Israeli civilians and some 80 Israeli soldiers were killed. On March 2, days after the US and Israel attacked Iran, a new round of fighting erupted between Israel and Hezbollah, when the Lebanese group began firing salvos of missiles across the border. Israel in response launched an aerial campaign targeting various locations throughout Lebanon, as well as a ground invasion. More than 1,200 people have been killed and more than a million displaced in Lebanon to date, according to Beirut.Hezbollah is heavily entrenched in civilian infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The Iran-backed terror group opposes a framework deal signed in June between Israel and Lebanon that stemmed the conflict in southern Lebanon and is meant to lead to Hezbollah’s disarmament and an eventual withdrawal of the IDF from the country, as well as a potential peace accord between the nations. In August, Amnesty again accused Israel of war crimes in southern Lebanon and called for an international probe of the matter.

Iranian police officer slain in attack; Iran hangs two men over January cop killings-Security forces search for assailants after officer is killed in Iran’s southeast; two men executed over the deaths of four officers during anti-government protests-By AFP Today, 12:34 pm-NOV 3,26

TEHRAN — Iranian police said on Tuesday that one of their officers was killed in an attack by unidentified assailants in the country’s restive southeast, state media reported.“Following an armed attack by unidentified individuals on a Criminal Investigation Police officer in Saravan county (Sistan-Baluchistan province), Third Lieutenant Hojat Vafakardeh attained the honor of martyrdom,” state television quoted a police statement as saying.“Efforts by police and security forces to identify and arrest those responsible for this cowardly attack are ongoing,” the statement added. It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.Sistan-Baluchistan province, one of Iran’s poorest, has long been the scene of clashes involving security forces and armed groups, including separatist factions. The province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan is home to a large Baluch population, most of whom are Sunni Muslims in predominantly Shia Iran.On Monday, the Mehr news agency reported that “terrorist groups carried out a cowardly attack on a vehicle carrying several engineers and contractors” in the same area. Also on Monday, the local headquarters of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said its forces had ambushed “a terrorist team… before carrying out a terrorist operation,” killing one of its members and arresting several others. On Thursday, the intelligence ministry said its forces had dismantled “four operational cells of a terrorist-takfiri group,” arresting 16 people. Three others were detained for allegedly sending information to “US-Zionist centers,” the ministry said, without providing further details. In mid-October, two members of Iran’s security forces were killed in separate attacks by gunmen in the region.Separately, Iranian authorities on Tuesday hanged two men after convicting them of involvement in the killing of four police officers during January protests in central Iran, the judiciary said.“Amirhossein Maleki and Amirhossein Ebrahimi, two armed perpetrators of the January 2026 crime in Isfahan whose brutal and atrocious actions led to the martyrdom of four police officers, were hanged,” the judiciary’s Mizan Online website reported. The executions were carried out “after their cases underwent a thorough legal review and their death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court,” following appeals by the defendants, the report said.A wave of protests erupted in Iran in December over a surge in foreign currency rates and soon escalated into anti-government demonstrations, peaking on January 8 and 9.Tehran has accused Israel and the United States of fomenting the protests.According to official figures, more than 3,000 people, including police and security personnel, were killed during the clashes, while rights groups based abroad have cited higher figures.According to Mizan, the pair “were among the main perpetrators of the crime” and “were armed and present at the scene and had committed multiple criminal acts.”The judiciary said they “were sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh (waging war against God) and corruption on earth, through actions against national security.”In early October, authorities executed Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raissi for their involvement in the same case. The number of executions in Iran has surged since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran in late February.Amnesty International says Iran carries out more executions than any country except China.

In first, Lebanon-born Christian joins Foreign Ministry training course-Jonathan Elkhoury among 36 new cadets preparing for Israeli diplomacy career; prayer hall serving Lebanese Maronite Christians who fought alongside IDF vandalized in Nahariya-By ToI Staff Today, 9:50 am-NOV 3,26

For the first time, a Lebanese-born Christian has joined Israel’s Foreign Ministry cadet training program, becoming one of 36 participants preparing for careers as Israeli diplomats.Jonathan Elkhoury fled Lebanon in 2001 at the age of 9 with his family, which included members of the South Lebanon Army, or SLA, a Christian-led force that fought against Hezbollah alongside the Israel Defense Forces during Israel’s military presence in southern Lebanon from 1985 to 2000.Thousands of SLA members found refuge in Israel after the IDF withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000.Elkhoury, who has been a prominent pro-Israel advocate in recent years, described his joining the diplomatic program as a continuation of his family’s ties to Israel.“For me, this was the most natural step in my life story, a direct continuation of the covenant that my parents signed with Israel in the 70s and 80s with the establishment of the SLA in South Lebanon,” he wrote on X.The cadets, selected from among nearly 2,000 applicants, began their six-month course on Sunday. They will prepare for civil service careers at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and Israeli diplomatic missions around the world.Elkhoury described Israel as his home in his message on social media and wrote that his “fate and the fate of Israel are one.”At the opening ceremony, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar told the cadets that Israel was fighting a war “not only on the battlefield, but also in the battle for public opinion, against powerful forces.”Separately, a prayer hall serving Lebanese Maronite Christians, including former SLA members and their families, was found vandalized in the city of Nahariya on Sunday evening, community leader Father Rudy Noura told The Times of Israel.Religious icons, including one depicting Jesus on the cross, were slashed and statues were shattered at the Saints Peter and Paul prayer hall.“We consider this a grave and unacceptable attack, not only on Church property, but above all on the sanctity of a place dedicated to worship and on the right of the faithful to practice their religion freely, safely, and with dignity,” said the Maronite Archeparchy of Haifa in a statement. An apology note was left on the altar.“To a deeply valued community,” it said in English. “I am so sorry. I don’t know what came over me to make me do that.”“Please forgive me,” the note concluded, followed by a heart and cross.Noura said he arrived at 6:10 p.m. after the vandalism was discovered. He expressed compassion for the perpetrator. “I said, this person, I am to forgive him, to love him, to hug him even.”The Nahariya municipality, the police and the Foreign Ministry were in touch immediately and offered assistance, Noura said.Ambassador George Deek, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy to the Christian world, called the vandalism “disgraceful.”“All the more painful because it belongs to a community of Lebanese Christians who stood alongside Israel and found a home here,” he told The Times of Israel. “Any attack on a place of worship, of any faith, is an attack on the freedom and dignity we must protect..
