And all over Asia - China – India - people will turn to Christ. In Australia there shall be tremendous revival."I heard the angel of Asia say, " It is the last harvest."Then, as if the Lord were speaking, he said: "I shall prepare My church for the return of Christ."I was happy with such good news after the message of judgment. All the time the five angels were in my room I could feel their presence - it was tremendous.
Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 270 as More Than 1,300 Missing
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The death toll from catastrophic floods in Nepal has risen to at least 270, police said Thursday, pushing the confirmed number of dead across the Nepal-Tibet border disaster to at least 273 as rescuers continued searching for more than 1,300 missing people.Chinese state media has reported three deaths from the mudslide disaster around Gyirong Port in Tibet, while hundreds remain unaccounted for on both sides of the Himalayan frontier.The revised toll marks a dramatic increase from earlier figures reported Thursday as rescue teams gain access to communities devastated by the sudden surge of water, mud and debris that swept south through steep mountain valleys Wednesday morning.The Associated Press reported that 826 people remained missing in Nepal, while Chinese authorities said 558 were missing in Tibet. The figures have been changing as emergency teams identify bodies, restore communications and reconcile lists of people previously reported unreachable.Hundreds of those still missing are foreign tourists and religious pilgrims.Nepal's Tourism Board said 517 foreign nationals were among those unaccounted for in the country, including visitors from India, the United States, Australia, Britain, Malaysia, South Korea and other countries.Chinese authorities said 260 foreigners were among those missing in Tibet.Villages swept away-The disaster struck communities along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems with little warning, carrying enormous quantities of water and debris through towns and villages.Residents and witnesses described a torrent powerful enough to destroy buildings, tear down bridges and carry vehicles downstream.Drone footage showed buildings buried in thick mud, vehicles submerged in debris and entire areas transformed by the flood.The small village of Soley in Nepal's Nuwakot district, which contained about 25 homes, was virtually wiped out, according to a local journalist whose relatives lived there.Deaths have been reported across seven districts in Nepal, with some bodies recovered hundreds of kilometers downstream from the initial disaster zone.Nearly 40 kilometers of roads and dozens of bridges were damaged, complicating rescue operations and isolating communities.The Nepalese army deployed helicopters and said more than 100 people had been rescued from affected areas by Thursday morning. Foreign nationals were among those airlifted to Kathmandu, while people trapped at facilities connected to the Trishuli hydropower project were also evacuated.The Nepal Red Cross Society has begun shifting toward large-scale relief operations as well, with about 1,200 people displaced from at least three villages.China has mobilized hundreds of emergency personnel, sniffer dogs and boats in Tibet. Rescue teams searched on Thursday for hundreds of missing people along the Nepal-China border after a catastrophic and deadly torrent of floods and mud swept through several communities a day earlier following a glacier collapse.The disaster left 273 people dead and more than 1,300 missing, including foreigners and pilgrims, and displaced hundreds of people across the Himalayan region.Among the missing foreigners are 25 Canadians, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. Bharat Raj Paudyal, Nepal's ambassador to Canada, told CBC News on Wednesday that while he cannot confirm the circumstances around the Canadians, the affected area is both popular with hikers and also a route often used by those on pilgrimage.Videos of the tragedy showed the flood swallowing people as they tried to escape, and destroying buildings and bridges. On Thursday, drone footage from Nepal showed the scale of the destruction.The region's steep valleys are economic lifelines and travel corridors, but are precarious when disaster strikes. Images showed what appeared to be the second floors of buildings in Nuwakot slathered in mud after the torrent rushed by. Debris hung from tree branches and wires, vehicles were buried and some stunned survivors were caked in mud."When I reached Dhunge bazaar, in half an hour, the flood came and damaged all the market. People were preparing to go to the office then," resident Shoyam Rajbhandari said. "How many people are missing or dead, we don't know."The disaster has left at least 270 dead and 826 people missing in Nepal, and three dead and 558 missing in Tibet, authorities said. According to Nepal's Tourism Board, 517 of the missing people in the country were foreigners and 178 of them were from India.In addition, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian said that nearly 100 Chinese citizens were missing on the Nepal side.Nepalese officials said that dozens of bridges were destroyed and nearly 40 kilometres of roads were damaged, complicating search efforts.The Nepalese army has rescued more than 100 people from flood-affected areas through helicopter operations on Thursday morning, army spokesperson Brig. It said its determination was based on data from nearby seismic stations, long-period seismic waves and satellite imagery, and that no earthquake had occurred.Climate experts at the Kathmandu-based International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development said an avalanche from a glacier likely caused Wednesday's flash flood."Hydrological observations indicate the exceptional speed and magnitude of the flood wave," they said in an emailed statement, noting that water levels at one point on the Trishuli river rose by as much as nine metres over half an hour.The Lhende Khola River, a tributary of the Bhotekoshi, had maximum flooding, they said.Video captured by a drone shows the impact of floodwaters in parts of Nepal's Nuwakot district, where some riverside buildings were left surrounded by mud.The steep slopes and the lush valleys below the Himalayan mountain range, which span several Asian countries, are especially vulnerable to flooding and landslides. Melting glaciers have become more common because of warming because of human-caused climate change.Researchers in Kathmandu found earlier this year that glaciers across the Hindu Kush Himalaya region are melting faster, with ice loss rates doubling since 2000.
