WHEN ARE THE 500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL IN THE SPRING TIME.(GET READY ISLAM TO BE BIRD SEED FOR THESE BIRDS)
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/m0bXU5Xqc5M
The 500 million migratory birds in Israel during the spring arrive from Africa and head toward Europe and Asia, with the peak migration occurring in March and April. While migration starts in late February, the most intense movements, particularly of birds of prey, storks, and pelicans, occur during the third week of March and continue into April.
Key Details on the Spring Migration
Peak Period: Mid-March through April.
Main Migration Route: The birds use the Great Rift Valley, which includes the Hula Valley and Eilat, acting as a "bottleneck" where millions of birds fly through the narrow land bridge.
Best Spots: The Hula Lake Park (Northern Israel) and the Eilat Birding Center (Southern Israel) are primary locations for observing the migration.
Key Species: Hundreds of thousands of white storks, along with black kites, raptors, and pelicans, pass through over these months.
uration: The spring migration runs from late February and continues into June, though the heaviest traffic is in March/April.
The 500 million migratory birds fly over Israel in the fall between late August and mid-December. The peak migration period for the autumn, when the highest volume of bird traffic occurs, is typically October and November.
Key Fall Migration Details
Location: The Hula Valley (Agamon Hula Park) in northern Israel is the premier spot to witness this phenomenon.
Timing: Migration starts as early as late June with some waders, but intensifies from mid-August through November.
Peak Festival: The "Annual Hula Valley Bird Festival" is usually held in November to align with the peak migration traffic.
Key Species: Many birds of prey (raptors), including honey buzzards and steppe eagles, cross during this time, along with massive flocks of storks and cranes.
While roughly 500 million birds pass through in the autumn on their way to Africa, the same number crosses again in the spring (mid-February to May) on their way back to Europe and Asia.

Israel says struck Iranian ballistic missile facility in Tehran.
Jerusalem, March 21 (AFP) Mar 21, 2026-The Israeli military on Saturday said its forces struck ballistic missile production facilities belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guards in overnight attacks on Tehran."Facilities utilised for the production of critical components for the development of ballistic missiles belonging to the Iranian regime's security apparatus were targeted," the military said. The strikes hit a central Guards' compound, a missile components production facility, and a separate compound belonging to Iran's defence ministry, it said."The strikes significantly degrade the Iranian terror regime's capabilities to continue producing critical components for ballistic missiles at these sites," the military said. The US and Israel launched their joint campaign against Iran on February 28, saying they seek to dismantle the country's ballistic missile capabilities, alongside its nuclear facilities.
US strikes Iran bases threatening blocked Hormuz oil route.
Tehran, March 21 (AFP) Mar 21, 2026-The US military declared on Saturday it had damaged an Iranian bunker housing weapons threatening oil and gas shipments in the Strait of Hormuz, as thousands of Iranians marked Eid al-Fitr with prayer. The US statement appeared designed to calm the concerns of energy markets and of Washington's sceptical international allies, more than 20 of whom issued a statement vowing to back efforts to re-open the key sea lane.Admiral Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, said US war planes had dropped 5,000-pound bombs on an underground facility on Iran's coast that was storing anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile missile launchers and other equipment."We not only took out the facility, but also destroyed intelligence support sites and missile radar relays that were used to monitor ship movements," Cooper said in a video statement.A statement from the leaders of mainly European countries, including the UK, France, Italy and Germany, but also South Korea and Australia as well as the UAE and Bahrain, condemned the "de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces"."We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. We welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preliminary planning," they said.As consumers count the cost of attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Gulf, including the world's largest liquefied natural gas hub, US President Donald Trump has slammed NATO allies as "cowards" and urged them to secure the strait.Iran has choked the channel, through which around a fifth of the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas passes during peacetime.Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had only imposed restrictions on vessels from countries involved in attacks against Iran, and would offer assistance to others that stayed out of the conflict.Iran also denies claims -- cited in the 20-country joint statement -- that it has deployed mines in the channel.- Remarkable endurance? - The standoff has sent crude oil prices soaring, with a barrel of North Sea Brent crude up more than 50 percent over the past month and now comfortably more than $105.Analysts, meanwhile, say Iran's Islamic government has survived the loss of its top leaders and its strike capacity is proving more resilient than expected, with surviving drones, missile and launchers apparently able to continue retaliatory strikes for another four to six weeks."They're showing a lot of resilience that we didn't perhaps expect, that the US didn't expect, when it took this on," Neil Quilliam, of Chatham House to the London-based think tank's podcast."But the IRGC, the Iranian regime, it's deep, it has these roots, this institutional strength... it's quite remarkable how they've managed to endure."Meanwhile, Tehran marked the end of Ramadan as the war entered its fourth week.Iran's supreme leader traditionally leads Eid al-Fitr prayers, but Mojtaba Khamenei, who came to power earlier this month after his father was killed in a US-Israeli strike, has remained out of the public eye.Instead, the head of the judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, attended prayers at central Tehran's Imam Khomeini grand mosque, which was overflowing, with worshippers flooding the streets outside. The previous evening, airstrikes had darkened the mood as the city celebrated Nowruz, the Persian New Year."The atmosphere of the New Year was spreading through the city. Places like Tajrish or Golestan Shahrak, where I went, were full of well-dressed and beautiful women buying flowers," said Farid, an advertising executive, reached by AFP through an online message."The Israeli attacks happening exactly at the moment of the New Year were deeply upsetting. The thought that some people could be dying right at the New Year dinner table was painful."Iran's ally Russian President Vladimir Putin sent greetings to Khamenei, saying he "wished the Iranian people strength on overcoming these severe trials and emphasised that during this difficult time, Moscow remained a loyal friend and reliable partner of Tehran".- Nuclear plant -According to Iran's atomic energy organisation, the US and Israel targeted a plant at Natanz in Isfahan province, which hosts underground centrifuges to enrich uranium for Iran's disputed nuclear programme and was already damaged in last year's June war."Following the criminal attacks by the United States and the usurping Zionist regime against our country, the... Natanz enrichment complex was targeted this morning," the organisation said, in a statement carried by the Tasnim news agency. No leakage of nuclear materials was reported, it added. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, called for "military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident", but the UN watchdog confirmed that no increase in off-site radiation levels had been reported.Asked about Natanz, the Israeli military said it was "not aware of a strike".Iran meanwhile launched what a UK official told AFP was an "unsuccessful" ballistic missile attack on the UK and US military base on Diego Garcia, an island in the Indian Ocean around 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometres) from Iran.On Friday, the UK government said it would allow Washington to use its bases in Diego Garcia and Fairford in England to target Iranian "missile sites and capabilities being used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz".The UK official confirmed that the failed missile strike took place before this announcement.burs-dc/jsa
More than 20 countries say want to contribute to efforts for safe passage in Hormuz strait.
Dubai, March 21 (AFP) Mar 21, 2026-More than 20 countries on Saturday said they would contribute to efforts ensuring safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz, condemning Iran's closure of the vital waterway."We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces," said the 22 countries, mostly European but also including the UAE and Bahrain."We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. We welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preparatory planning," they said in a joint statement. After the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, Tehran has retaliated with strikes on its Gulf neighbours but also on vessels in the strait. From March 1 to 19, commodities carriers made just 116 crossings, according to analytics firm Kpler -- a decrease of 95 percent from peacetime averages.Iran's de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 percent of the world's oil and gas normally flows, and the numerous attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East, have sent energy prices soaring."We call for an immediate comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations," the countries added.
Base is home to about 2,500 mostly American personnel-Iran unsuccessfully targets UK-US Diego Garcia base, shows its missiles can reach Western Europe-Regime fires two missiles fired at US-UK Indian Ocean base 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) away; state media outlet boasts missile range ‘is beyond what the enemy previously imagined’By Agencies Today, 3:12 pm-MAR 21,26
Iran was “unsuccessful” in targeting the joint UK-US Indian Ocean military base at Diego Garcia, a UK official source confirmed on Saturday, a day after the Wall Street Journal reported Tehran fired two ballistic missiles at the base but failed to hit it.The source said the “unsuccessful targeting of Diego Garcia” took place before the UK government announced Friday that it would allow the United States to use some of its bases to target Iranian sites being used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz. CNN reported that the attack took place on Friday morning. The Iranian attack on the Diego Garcia air base — located about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) from Iran — indicated Tehran has in its stockpile missiles that can travel much further than it had previously acknowledged.Missiles of that range would put most of Western Europe in range of Iran’s missile arsenal.Iran has until now said it had a self-imposed limit on its ballistic missile program, limiting their range to 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles). However, US officials long have alleged Iran’s space program could allow it to build intercontinental ballistic missiles.Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency on Saturday also confirmed the attempted strike, saying that targeting the base was a “significant step … that shows that the range of Iran’s missiles is beyond what the enemy previously imagined.”The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that one of the intermediate-range ballistic missiles failed in flight, and the other was targeted by an interceptor fired from a US warship, though it was not clear if the missile was hit.UK officials have not given details of the attempted strike.Britain’s Ministry of Defense said Saturday that Iran’s “lashing out across the region and holding hostage the Strait of Hormuz, are a threat to British interests and British allies.”Britain has not participated in US-Israeli attacks on Iran, but has allowed American bombers to use UK bases to attack Iran’s missile sites. On Friday, the British government said US bombers can also use UK bases, including Diego Garcia, in operations to prevent Iran attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran targeted the base before that UK statement. The Pentagon declined to comment.Diego Garcia is one of two bases Britain is allowing the United States to use for “defensive” operations in Iran. The air base is home to about 2,500 mostly American personnel and has supported US military operations from Vietnam to Iraq, Afghanistan and strikes on Yemen’s Houthi rebels.Diego Garcia is part of the Chagos Islands, a remote archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean off the tip of India. The islands have been under British control since 1814.They are at the center of a UK spat with President Donald Trump over Britain’s plans to hand sovereignty of the Chagos archipelago to Mauritius. Britain would then lease back the Diego Garcia base.Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the move will safeguard the base’s future, which is currently vulnerable to legal challenge. The Trump administration initially welcomed the deal, but in January Trump called it “an act of GREAT STUPIDITY.”
Inside story-How Iran’s IRGC rebuilt Lebanon’s Hezbollah to be ready for war-Iranian advisers filled the gaps in Hezbollah’s decimated leadership, shifted terror group from a hierarchical command to small decentralized units By Laila Bassam, TOM PERRY, Samia Nakhoul and Maya Gebeily Today, 11:53 am-MAR 21,26
BEIRUT (Reuters) — Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) rebuilt Hezbollah’s military command after it was mauled by Israel in 2024, plugging gaps with Iranian officers before restructuring the Lebanese group and laying plans for the war it is now waging in support of Tehran, two people familiar with these IRGC activities said. The overhaul was the first of its kind for Hezbollah, a Shi’ite Muslim terror group founded by the IRGC in 1982, pointing to a hands-on approach after the blows of the 2024 war, including the killing of its leader Hassan Nasrallah and other top commanders.Iran’s investment paid off, getting Hezbollah back on its feet in time to enter the war in the Middle East on Tehran’s side after it was attacked by the United States and Israel.Reuters reported earlier in March that Hezbollah had seen another war as inevitable and spent months readying itself. This article sheds light on the IRGC’s role in these preparations, based on accounts from six sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, as well as an expert on Hezbollah. The IRGC, deeply involved in Hezbollah since it was established, sent officers to retrain its fighters and oversee rearmament, the two sources familiar with IRGC activities said. They said IRGC officers also reshaped Hezbollah command structures that had been breached by Israeli intelligence — a factor that had helped Israel kill many Hezbollah leaders. An Israeli military spokesperson said on March 12 that Hezbollah remains a relevant and dangerous force despite the damage Israel has inflicted on it over the last three years.Hezbollah has fired hundreds of missiles at Israel since it entered the regional war on March 2, prompting an Israeli offensive that has killed more than 1,000 people in Lebanon. Hezbollah fighters are battling Israeli soldiers who have established a buffer zone in the south. The Lebanese figures do not differentiate between civilians and combatants and Israel says it has killed some 600 Hezbollah operatives. It has yet to be seen how Hezbollah, its power still below the peak levels seen a few years ago, would fare in the event of a full-scale Israeli invasion.Hezbollah’s media office, Iran’s foreign ministry and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.Netanyahu said in January that Hezbollah was making efforts to rearm and rebuild its infrastructure with Iranian support.Scrapping hierarchy-The two sources said IRGC officers tasked with helping Hezbollah recover arrived shortly after a ceasefire in November 2024, and set to work even as Israel continued to strike. One of them said the deployment involved about 100 officers.Changes implemented at their behest included replacing a hierarchical command structure with a decentralised one, comprising small units with limited knowledge of each other’s operations, helping to preserve operational secrecy. They said IRGC officers also drew up plans for missile attacks against Israel that would be launched simultaneously from Iran and Lebanon — a scenario executed for the first time on March 11.A senior Lebanese security source said Iranian commanders had helped Hezbollah rehabilitate and reorganize their military cadres. The source said he believed the Iranians were helping Hezbollah pace the current conflict rather than being involved in the detail of picking targets.Another source briefed on the matter said the IRGC sent officers to Lebanon in 2024 to conduct a post-war audit of Hezbollah and took direct supervision of its military wing.An additional two sources said the IRGC had embedded special advisers with Hezbollah last year to help it direct military affairs.Andreas Krieg, a lecturer at the security studies department of King’s College London, said the IRGC “has basically reorganized Hezbollah as a far more flat system,” contrasting this with the political hierarchy that had emerged around Nasrallah before his death.“That decentralized model that they’ve now implemented is also a bit more like what Hezbollah looked like in the 1980s — very small cells,” said Krieg, who has researched the group for 15 years. He described this as a “mosaic defence” that is also being used by the IRGC in Iran.Lebanon asked IRGC to leave the country-The IRGC’s efforts were going on at the same time as Lebanon’s government and its US-backed military were seeking to advance a process to disarm the group, underscoring a huge complication facing that objective.Lebanon estimates that around 100 to 150 Iranian nationals in the country have ties to the Iranian government that go beyond normal diplomatic functions, including links to the IRGC, a Lebanese official told Reuters. The official said the government asked those people to leave Lebanon in early March. The two sources familiar with IRGC activities said Guards officers were among more than 150 Iranians who left Beirut on a flight to Russia on March 7.IRGC members were also among the roughly 500 people killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon in the 15 months between the 2024 ceasefire and the eruption of the new war. Israel said it was hitting Hezbollah efforts to rearm in violation of the ceasefire.Around a dozen more have been killed in Israeli attacks since the war erupted, including in a strike on a Beirut hotel on March 8, they said. The IRGC has been closely involved in Hezbollah since its men established the group in the eastern Bekaa Valley to export Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and fight Israeli forces that had invaded Lebanon in 1982.Qassem Soleimani, the top IRGC general who was killed in 2020 by a US drone strike, had worked alongside Nasrallah during Hezbollah’s 2006 war with Israel. When Israeli airstrikes killed Nasrallah in a bunker in Beirut’s southern suburbs, an Iranian general was among those who died alongside him.Times of Israel Staff contributed to this report

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemns the attack on Iran’s Natanz enrichment facility.“This is a blatant violation of international law,” the ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says in a statement.Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that the Natanz nuclear enrichment site was attacked, the agency said in a post on X.
Report: US carried out strike on Natanz enrichment facility using ‘bunker buster’ bombs-Today, 12:32 pm-MAR 21,26
Today’s strike on Iran’s Natanz enrichment facility was carried out by the United States, the Kan public broadcaster reports, citing unspecified sources.According to the report, the US used “bunker buster” bombs to target the site. The US dropped more than a dozen GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs on the Fordo and Natanz underground nuclear facilities in June 2025, during Israel’s 12-day war with Iran. The Kan report follows earlier reporting from Iranian media alleging that Natanz was targeted in a joint US-Israel strike.

Beijing, March 20 (AFP) Mar 20, 2026-China's top diplomat told a French presidential adviser on Friday that both countries should work together towards resolving the crisis in the Middle East.Beijing is a partner of Iran, which has been targeted by US-Israeli attacks since last month, but has also criticised Tehran's strikes against Gulf states housing US military bases and urged a ceasefire.Wang Yi told Emmanuel Bonne over a phone call that the situation in the Middle East "continues to deteriorate" and that "an unjust war must not continue"."The right way out of the crisis remains dialogue and negotiation", he said, according to a readout from Beijing's foreign ministry."In the face of the current critical situation, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and France should enhance strategic communication and coordination... and prevent the world from reverting to the 'law of the jungle'," Wang said."China and France should work together to that end," he added. The war, triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran, has threatened global energy security as well as China's oil supplies.Beijing has sought to mediate in the Middle East, sending its special envoy, Zhai Jun, on a tour of the region, where he urged de-escalation as he met with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Arab League.Foreign minister Wang recently said that the war "should never have happened" and called for an end to fighting.
Taiwan leader says two nuclear power plants 'meet conditions' to restart.
Taipei, March 21 (AFP) Mar 21, 2026-Taiwan's President Lai Ching?te said Saturday two nuclear power plants "meet the conditions for reactivation", as the energy import-dependent island moves to strengthen its domestic power generation capacity.Taiwan relies almost entirely on imported fossil fuels to meet its energy needs, in particular its critical semiconductor sector, and the Middle East conflict has unsettled global supply lines.Lai's Democratic Progressive Party has long pushed for a "nuclear?free homeland", partly fuelled by concerns about nuclear safety after Japan's Fukushima disaster in 2011.Nuclear power provided a significant chunk of the island's electricity supply for about four decades before the last reactor was shut down.Opposition parties say continued supply is needed for energy security.Taiwan shut down its last operating reactor at the Ma'anshan, commonly known as the third nuclear power plant, in southern Pingtung county in May last year, in line with the ruling party's policy to phase out nuclear power by 2025.Another one, known as the second nuclear power plant was decommissioned in 2023 after its operating permit expired.Lai said at a business event on Saturday the "second and third nuclear power plants meet the conditions for restarting", without specifying what the requirements are.He said state utility Taipower, which operated the plants, would submit restart applications to the Nuclear Safety Council by the end of the month for review. The council will consider safety issues and whether there is public consensus on restarting the plants during the review, he added.Deputy economic minister Ho Chin-tsang said at a parliamentary session Friday that the Ma'anshan plant could restart as early as 2028, although he did not provide a timeline for the second plant."The international community needs low-carbon electricity, and we must also consider the electricity required for computing power in the era of artificial intelligence," Lai said.He assured the public that Taiwan's oil and natural gas supplies are sufficient for March and April."May is also almost problem-free, just a little short. In June... additional oil and gas purchased from the US will come to Taiwan."Taiwan's legal requirements mandate 90 days of oil reserves and 11 days of natural gas reserves.Lai said the island currently holds more than 100 days of oil and 12 to 14 days of gas.
Mideast war spotlights Algeria, Libya as potential energy alternatives.
Tunis, March 21 (AFP) Mar 21, 2026-Damage to Gulf energy infrastructure in the Middle East war has turned attention to Algeria and Libya as possible fallback oil and gas suppliers, but both have little room to ramp up output in the short term, experts say.Since the conflict erupted last month with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, the Islamic republic has kept up retaliatory fire on Israel and Gulf nations, including attacks on oil and gas facilities. The resulting concerns of a global energy supply shock have turned eyes towards Algeria, an oil producer and OPEC member that is also Africa's leading gas exporter.Unlike Qatar, which exports liquefied natural gas (LNG) by tanker, Algeria relies primarily on gas pipelines: the TransMed to Italy and the MedGaz to Spain.Combining land-based and underwater sections, they offer "a significant advantage" because "they are out of reach for Iran and Hezbollah's drones and missiles", Moez Ajmi, an energy analyst at the EY consulting firm, told AFP.But they are already operating at full capacity.Gas pipelines are "excellent alternatives in terms of security and insurance premiums, but there are structural limitations", said Geoff Porter, an analyst with North Africa Risk Consulting."There is some spare capacity in MedGaz (maybe 1 billion cubic metres per year), but there is no extra capacity in TransMed," he told AFP.Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and the EU's move to phase out Russian gas imports, the North African country has become a key supplier to Europe and "an essential pillar of its energy diversification strategy", Ajmi said.Italy's energy minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin said Friday that he was in direct talks with Algeria, Azerbaijan and the United States in a bid to offset the loss of Qatari LNG, which covers 20 percent of Italy's demand. However, even with vast proven reserves exceeding 4,500 billion cubic metres, Algeria -- whose other major European customers are Germany and France -- cannot compete with the Gulf giant."Replacing Qatar, which produces double that of Algeria -- 200 billion cubic metres per year versus 100 -- is not realistic in the short-term without massive investment," Ajmi said.Porter added: "Algeria does not have enough spare gas production to serve as an alternative to lost Qatari volumes."- 'Major obstacle' -Still, Algiers has launched an ambitious investment plan of $50 to 60 billion to boost exploration and modernise energy infrastructure, aiming to double its gas production to 200 billion cubic metres by 2030.This includes exploring shale gas deposits in the southern desert, which are "among the largest in the world" and "a major strategic asset" for Algeria, according to Ajmi.Negotiations are underway for US companies Chevron and ExxonMobil to bring in capital and technical expertise. But for Porter, the talks "are not at an advanced enough stage to play a decisive role in the current crisis", adding that it will take "another four-five years at best" to see any real increase in output. On the oil front, Algeria exports nearly one million barrels per day (bpd), but production growth is "dependent on the discovery of new fields", said Ajmi.Domestic consumption needs and OPEC quotas have also slowed export ambitions.Experts believe that Libya, which has considerable gas resources and Africa's largest oil reserves at around 48.4 billion barrels, has strong potential."Libya can increase its production and exports to partially offset the drop from the Gulf," Ajmi said, adding however that "political and security instability remains a major obstacle".Libya is divided between a UN-recognised government based in Tripoli and a rival eastern administration backed by strongman Khalifa Haftar. For that reason, Libya "can't serve as an immediate replacement" for the Gulf countries, Ajmi said.Although production has reached 1.4 million bpd, he said it will still take several years of investment in infrastructure, drilling and security to reach the official target of 2 million bpd.bur-fka/amj/rh
Hezbollah rockets damage buildings in north as IDF strikes Lebanon, kills gunmen-Homes hit in Metula and Safed, but none hurt; army says soldiers operating across the border exchanged fire with terror operatives, killing several By Emanuel Fabian-and Agencies Today, 5:09 pm-MAR 21,26
Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group fired several rockets at northern Israel on Saturday, damaging a number of buildings and infrastructure, as the Israeli Air Force struck targets belonging to the terror group, and soldiers operating in south Lebanon killed gunmen in exchanges of fire.A barrage of some 10 rockets was fired at the north around noon, with one rocket hitting a home in the northern town of Metula, damaging it. Rescue services sayid there were no injuries.Sirens later sounded in the northern city of Safed and towns in the Galilee, as well as in the Golan Heights, while sirens warning of rocket fire and a suspected drone infiltration were activated in several towns in the Upper Galilee and the Galilee Panhandle. One rocket struck Safed, causing slight damage to a road and nearby buildings. There were no reported injuries. The Israel Defense Forces said troops killed several Hezbollah operatives during exchanges of fire in southern Lebanon, reporting no injuries among the Israeli forces.According to the IDF, overnight, troops of the Givati Brigade spotted several armed Hezbollah gunmen during ground operations. The soldiers exchanged fire with one of the operatives, killing him. The Givati troops then directed an Israeli Air Force drone to strike several more gunmen who had fired on the forces. In the morning, three more operatives were killed by tank shelling, the military said. The IDF said that the Air Force also struck Hezbollah command centers in Beirut overnight. Those strikes came after the IDF reiterated an evacuation warning for the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, a Hezbollah stronghold.A Hezbollah rocket struck the northern city of Safed a short while ago, causing slight damage to a road and nearby buildings. No injuries are reported, rescue services say. pic.twitter.com/eIjGTdhD5P — Emanuel (Mannie) Fabian (@manniefabian) March 21, 2026-Lebanese state media also said that an Israeli airstrike hit a house in a southern town early on Saturday, killing one person and wounding two others.“Israeli fighter jets launched a heavy strike at dawn on a house in the town of Ghandouriyeh… resulting in one martyr and two wounded people who were pulled from under the rubble,” the official National News Agency said.Lebanon’s health ministry said Israeli attacks had killed over 1,000 people since the war began and displaced more than one million people. The death toll does not distinguish between combatants and civilians. On Friday, the US ambassador to Lebanon hailed the Lebanese president’s proposal to launch direct negotiations with Israel to put an end to the latest fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, as the Iran-backed terror group continued its attacks on the north.Lebanon was pulled into the Middle East war when Hezbollah began firing rockets into Israel on March 2, to avenge the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.“We appreciate the importance of the issue for the president and the importance of his responsibility in finally deciding that he must meet with the Israelis, because matters are not resolved without talking,” Michel Issa told journalists.“Each party has their point of view of how meetings start,” he said, but he added that he believed Israel “has decided not to stop” striking Lebanon yet.“That means Lebanon has to decide whether it can meet the Israelis in this case,” he said.Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun, on March 9, proposed direct talks with Israel, but Israel has since said there are no talks planned. The IDF announced on Monday that it had launched “limited” ground operations in Lebanon due to the incessant rocket fire.French President Emmanuel Macron, who spoke with Lebanese leaders last week, expressed hope on Thursday that Israel would agree to direct talks with Beirut, and offered to host talks in Paris.Meanwhile, Hezbollah carried out sporadic rocket barrages and drone attacks on northern Israel on Friday, with no reports of injuries or major damage. The Israeli military said Friday that it had killed over 570 Hezbollah operatives, including 220 members of the terror group’s elite Radwan Force, since hostilities escalated amid the war with Iran.More than 2,000 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon have also been struck in the past three weeks, the IDF says, including 120 command centers, 100 weapon depots, and 130 missile launchers.
