Dutch police arrest dozens who defy protest ban after antisemitic riots in Amsterdam-Hundreds rally against Israel, claim Maccabi soccer fans ‘attacked our city’; ban on demonstrations extended to Thursday, as police chief reports ongoing anti-Jewish incidents-By Agencies and ToI Staff 10 November 2024, 10:35 pm

Dutch police arrested dozens of anti-Israel demonstrators on Sunday, after they defied a temporary ban on protests, imposed after mass violence against Israeli tourists following a Thursday night soccer game in Amsterdam.Hundreds of demonstrators had gathered in the capital city’s Dam Square, in defiance of the ban. There, protesters denounced the Israelis who attended the soccer game, in which Maccabi Tel Aviv faced off against local Ajax. After the ban’s extension was ratified on Sunday, police moved in to break up the protest, instructing protesters to leave and rounding up more than 100 of them, according to a Reuters journalist. They were put on buses and dropped off on the outskirts of the city, police spokesperson Ramona van den Ochtend said, without confirming how many had been picked up.One protester was taken to an ambulance bleeding.Israeli officials said 10 citizens were injured in the overnight violence Thursday, apparently committed by local Arab and Muslim gangs, that followed the soccer game. Hundreds more Israelis huddled in their hotels for hours, fearing they could be attacked. Many said that Dutch security forces were nowhere to be found.Protesters shouting “Amsterdam is saying no to Genocide” I guess 200 to 300 people. #emergencyprotest ©️iAnnet pic.twitter.com/MVdN1sJ8Ic— iAnnet ???? (@iAnnetnl) November 10, 2024-The Dutch government condemned the attacks as antisemitic, as did US President Joe Biden, whose envoy for combating antisemitism called the events “terribly reminiscent of a classic pogrom.”At the protest Sunday, a demonstrator declared that the Israeli fans “attacked our city, attacked our people.” A photo shared on social media also featured a small group of protesters with a banner reading “Israelis against genocide.”Protest organizers said in an Instagram message on Sunday that they were outraged by the “framing” of the riots as antisemitic and called the protest ban draconian.“We refuse to let the charge of antisemitism be weaponized to suppress Palestinian resistance,” they said, using a phrase frequently invoked by the proponents of terrorism against Israeli civilians.Videos of the attacks, which occurred after the game, show at least one perpetrator proclaiming a “Jew hunt,” and another person, under assault, insisting he is not Jewish in order to avoid being hurt. Another clip showed a man with a kippah in the street being badgered by rioters demanding to know where he was from as he tried to get away.Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were recorded before the game on Thursday using anti-Arab chants, and taking down a Palestinian flag. The Netherlands has seen a rise in antisemitic incidents, in line with a surge globally, in the 13 months since the Hamas terror group attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, amid acts of brutality and sexual assault. The Hamas attack started an ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, which has also seen fighting in southern Lebanon, and elsewhere in the region.

Geert Wilders says no arrests were made during the Amsterdam pogrom-By JERUSALEM POST STAFF-NOVEMBER 9, 2024 20:58

Dutch politician and leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) Geert Wilders said that he was "speechless,"  on X/Twitter, citing Amsterdam Police saying that no one was arrested during the pogrom against Israeli Jews in the Dutch capital on Thursday night."I am speechless. Amsterdam Police just confirmed that NO ONE has been arrested during the Islamic Jewhunt in Amsterdam Thursday night."All arrests have been made before and during the soccer match and NOT during the pogrom," he wrote.Dutch police arrested 62 people on Thursday night, but only 10 remain in police custody, according to Chief Prosecutor Rene de Beukelaer, as reported by ANP. Amsterdam Police Chief Peter Holla brought in around 800 officers from around the country in preparation for the event, which is "exceptionally large" for Amsterdam standards, according to a report from the Jewish News Syndicate. He said in a press conference on Friday in Dutch that "it is very difficult for the police to act against these flash moments spread throughout the city. This is despite the great presence of police until late at night.”Authorities investigating if the attack was organized-De Beukelaer stated that the Dutch authorities were trying to speedily try the ten suspects in a fast-tracked hearing. They are in custody for public violence against individuals and groups. The chief prosecutor also said that police started the investigation based on who could be seen on security camera footage on Thursday night. He added that police are also investigating "whether there are connections between these suspects and how they came to these violent actions," as well as if the attacks were previously organized.Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof promised to use maximum efforts to find every suspect and said that the pogrom was an indication of growing antisemtism in the Netherlands. He met with newly appointed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar on Saturday and told him that the Dutch government "was doing everything to ensure that the Jewish community in this country feels safe," according to a post on his X/Twitter account.

The Pogrom in Amsterdam: Three Questions Every Jew Needs to Ask by Dr. Yvette Alt Miller November 10, 2024

In the shadow of Kristallnacht an organized pogrom was unleashed on the streets of Amsterdam. We should not be surprised. On Thursday, November 7, hundreds of fans gathered in Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena to watch the visiting Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team play against the popular local Dutch team Ajax.  Following the game, gangs of men roamed the city, chasing down and beating Israelis and Jews in an orgy of violence that brought to mind the darkest days of the Holocaust.Radical Anti-Israel Atmosphere in the NetherlandsAmsterdam has seen regular anti-Israel marches over the past year.  In fact, anti-Israel rhetoric in the Netherlands had become so extreme in recent years that Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism has taken note, warning that the constant drumbeat of anti-Israel incitement was making the country dangerous for Jews and Israelis. This ceaseless drumbeat of anti-Israel propaganda and antisemitism has made violence against Jews seem like a natural response.“What was once considered radical rhetoric has become normalized, not just in isolated protests but though widespread activism that permeates Dutch society,” the report noted, as reported in The Jerusalem Post. This ceaseless drumbeat of anti-Israel propaganda has made violence against Jews seem like a natural - even justified - response to Israel’s supposedly intolerable existence.Jews Were Beaten Up in Amsterdam the Day Before the Pogrom Too-Though it hasn’t been widely reported, at least three Israelis reported being set upon by gangs of Arab men and beaten up on Wednesday, November 6, a day before the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer game. Two Israeli men, who gave their names to Israel’s Channel 12 only as Oren and Or, “said they were targeted and beaten” by “Arab gangs in the city.”  Both men said they’d reported the attacks to the police who did nothing.A third Israeli man named Gal was more seriously injured that same day. He was “forced to the floor by assailants who had demanded to know if he was Israeli.”  He described being “beaten up by a gang of 8-10 people - ‘punched in the head; two teeth broken.’  He said he ‘woke up in an ambulance covered in blood’ and was told afterwards that he was found in a pool of blood.”In this image taken from video, police stand guard as Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters light flares at the Dam square, at Amsterdam, the Netherlands, November. 7, 2024. AP-A group of Israelis was chased by a mob of seemingly Muslim men on Wednesday, and narrowly escaped being beaten up by running inside a casino.Even though these three attacks indicated a danger to Israeli fans, Dutch police allowed a planned anti-Israel event to take place the next day in Anton de Komplein Square, a short walk from the Johan Cruyff Arena.Later on Wednesday, groups of Muslim men began planning the following day’s pogrom.  Social media messages sent on November 6 include “Tomorrow after the game, at night, part 2 of the Jew Hunt.”  Men debated back and forth whether the Jews would “go to the casino tomorrow” for safety, and assured one another that on November 7, after the game, there would be no escape.Ajax Team’s Strange Jewish History - and the Antisemitism of Their Opponents-Ironically, Ajax has long been known as Europe’s “Jewish” soccer team, with fans calling themselves Yids, the Yiddish word for Jews - and their fans displaying horrific antisemitism in response.  In the extreme soccer hooligan culture that flourishes in Europe, some Ajax fans get tattoos of Jewish stars and call themselves “Super Jews.”  Fans sing the Jewish song Hava Nagila during games and shout “Jews, Jews, Jews.”There are several theories about how Ajax became known as a “Jewish” team.Ajax stadium, April 2019-Ajax’s home stadium is near Jodenbuurt, Amsterdam’s historic Jewish neighborhood, which was a bustling home to about 80,000 Jews before the Holocaust. (75% of Dutch Jews were murdered during World War II.)  The team got another Jewish boost when Dutch soccer star Johan Cruyff played for Ajax between 1964 and 1973, then managed the team from 1985 to 1988.  Cruyff had several Jewish relatives, including a nephew who became a rabbi in Israel and encouraged Cruyff to visit the Jewish state.  In 2013, Cruyff visited Israel. At Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust Memorial and Museum, he filled out details of three of his Jewish relatives who were murdered in the Holocaust and his many fans were moved by this gesture.  In the 1960s and 1970s, three of Ajax’s club presidents were Jewish, as were some of its players. Before games, the team would eat a kosher salami for good luck.As Ajax is seen as a “Jewish” team, its opponents cast themselves as extreme antisemites. Rival fans scream “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas” during games and hiss in order to sound like gas, a reference to the gas chambers of the Holocaust.  It’s a vile taunt, and one that normalizes anti-Jewish hatred and threats of violence. The Nov. 7 Pogrom-After Maccabi Tel Aviv lost to Ajax 5-0, fans streamed out of the Johan Cruyff Arena.  They were soon set upon by gangs of scores of Turkish and Arab men.  Dutch Jewish reporter Daid de Bruijn records some of the violence:Footage shows an Israeli soccer fan being struck by a car, cartwheeling across the windshield.  More footage shows the scene in downtown Amsterdam, where Israelis are pleading with their assailants, ‘not Jewish, not Jewish.’  And they are beaten mercilessly.  In video of other attacks last night, a victim is struck and lies injured on the ground, seemingly unconscious.  A father can be seen fleeing with his son.  A man jumps into one of Amsterdam’s canals to escape his assailants.  In the recording, where he is forced to say ‘Free Palestine,’ his assailants laugh and jeer that he is a ‘cancer Jew’ - a classic slur in Dutch….”Aaron and Jacob are two young British Jews, fathers of young families from London, who visited Amsterdam for the game and were caught up in the pogrom.  Aaron describes:We left the game early to meet a friend, and as we walked towards the bar area, chaos broke out - mopeds appeared from alleyways, and a crowd surrounded an Israeli man.  The man was on the ground, his head pinned between a curb and a metal gate, being viciously kicked.Aaron and Jacob tried to push the mob away, only to be threatened with violence themselves.  “Are you Yehudi?  Are you Jewish?” the attackers asked, even demanding to see their passports to ascertain if they were Israeli.  A gang member punched Aaron in the face, then was quickly joined by 20 other Muslim men.“I told him to leave him alone and the next thing I know, he punched me in the face. It was so unexpected.  My glasses were broken, my nose split.  Blood everywhere,” Aaron described.  A gang member realized that Aaron was Jewish and told the mob to leave him alone.  “Yes, but he helped a Jew,” one of his attackers complained.  “They knew what they were doing.  It wasn’t a random ‘Let’s get an Israeli,” Aaron describes; “It was organized.  It was ‘We want Jews.  We want Jewish blood.’”  Despite the violence, Aaron and Jacob recall, there were no police officers in the area to intervene.”Attackers coordinated their pogrom using social media.  “There is talk of people going on a Jew hunt,” explained Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema. The many social media posts showing Jews and Israelis being beaten up in the streets and canals of Amsterdam were gleeful.  “This coward jumped into the canal, afraid of getting beaten,” one typical post showed, along with “crying with laughter” emojis.Another public post shows an unconscious man lying in the fetal position on a road in Amsterdam, being kicked by his attackers.  Yet another post “shows a young Israeli football fan cornered in a narrow alley where he ends up crouching on the floor.  He begs for mercy but his assailants knock him out with a punch to the head.”  In these and other cases, the perpetrators appeared proud of what they were doing. For close to an hour, it appears that Dutch police officers did little to stop the violence. For close to an hour, it appears that Dutch police officers did little to stop the violence which was being carried out in locations throughout the city. One Israeli told Israeli television that “Amsterdam police instructed (fans) not to go by taxis.  Police officers told fans that taxi drivers in the city are helping organize the riots and assisting the gangs.” Hundreds of Israelis and Jews huddled in hotel rooms and other locations, fearful of going outside.  Many Jews sheltered in Amsterdam’s Chabad center for hours during the pogrom.By the end of the evening, five Maccabi fans were in hospitals and 62 assailants were arrested. It’s estimated that about two dozen other Jews and Israelis were injured, with some saying they were too fearful to seek medical treatment in the Netherlands and intended to go to urgent care clinics once they were back in Israel.Dutch Jews Helped Israeli Fans Leave the Country-While the pogrom was unfolding, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he was sending airplanes to the Netherlands to evacuate Israeli citizens; El Al flew three special emergency flights to evacuate Israelis. But they were terrified to use taxis or ride sharing apps that might have been used to plan the pogrom just hours before.Instead, Dutch Jews organized to drive Israelis to the airport to leave the country. “A call was put out…saying that there were Israelis staying at hotels and safe houses who needed help getting to the airport,” explained Amsterdam resident Ben Myers, who helped drive. “It was all organized and managed by Dutch Jewish and Israeli women through a volleyball club WhatsApp group.”Many Are Blaming the Victims for the Pogrom-In the aftermath of the pogrom, many figures are expressing sorrow for allowing mobs of men to attack Jews on the streets of a major European city with impunity.  The day after the pogrom, Dutch King Willen-Alexander stated, “We failed the Jewish community of the Netherlands during World War II, and last night we failed again.”Yet some are blaming the Jews and Israelis who were attacked for the violence that was directed against them. “Hundreds of supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv came to Amsterdam, held a very vocal rally in the main square before the incident, waving Israeli flags, and also took down a Palestinian flag,” is how Al Jazeera, the popular Qatari-based news organization with 430 million viewers, reported the pogrom. There’s already a Wikipedia page about the November 7 pogrom, and it is shaping an alternative, false narrative in which it was Jews and Israelis who instigated the attacks.  The Wikipedia page creates a false equivalence between the Jews who were attacked and their Muslim attackers, states that Israeli fans began the violence and that pro-Palestinians merely responded in kind, and minimizes the violence perpetrated against Jews.As days go by, more and more press reports about the Amsterdam pogrom are obfuscating basic facts and excusing violence against Jews.  A recent Reuters report about the Amsterdam pogrom, for example, quoted a “Senior Hamas official” asserting that “mass killing” by Israelis in Gaza “is likely to lead to such spontaneous repercussions.”Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Yellow Color and Kristallnacht-The recent pogrom in Amsterdam raged while city officials were commemorating Kristallnacht, the spasm of violence which saw massive pogroms across Germany, Austria, and parts of Czechoslovakia during November 9 and 10, 1938.  Mobs killed hundreds of Jews, looted over 7,000 Jewish owned businesses, burned and looted hundreds of synagogues, and desecrated Jewish graveyards.  As with the November 7 Amsterdam pogrom, police officials during Kristallnacht stood by and did nothing.  (A crucial difference, of course, is that after nearly an hour of inaction, Dutch police did eventually intervene and bring an end to the Amsterdam pogrom.)Today, 86 years after Kristallnacht, it’s shocking that once again mobs have hunted down and beaten Jews in the streets of a major European city. The very color of the Maccabi Tel Aviv team’s jerseys recalls this history.  Founded in the 1920s, Maccabi Tel Aviv players originally competed in blue and white jerseys. That changed during the Holocaust, when team members realized that their relatives in Europe were being rounded up and murdered by the Nazis.  In 1942, Maccabi changed the white color in their uniforms to yellow in solidarity with their Jewish brethren in Europe who were forced to wear yellow Stars of David on their clothes.Amsterdam, a city which celebrates its famous resident Anne Frank, who wore a yellow star and hid from Nazis for over two years, once again saw Jews - many with the yellow of Maccabi Tel Aviv on their clothes - hiding once again from anti-Jewish mobs.  The many coincidences are too much to ignore.  Surely, we ought to learn something from this recent spasm of anti-Jewish hate. It’s Not Only Amsterdam-It’s not only Amsterdam where Jews are being chased, shot at, and beaten in the streets. In my own home city of Chicago, the day before the Amsterdam pogrom, two Jewish DePaul students who were “visibly showing their support for Israel” were punched and attacked by masked assailants who shouted antisemitic slurs. One of the people attacked was sitting near a sign saying that he was an Israeli veteran and was happy to speak with people who were curious to learn more Israel. Two weeks earlier, an Orthodox Jewish man was shot while he walked from his home to synagogue on Shabbat morning. Chicago police later charged the perpetrator with hate crime and attempted murder, noting that he targeted his victim because he wanted to harm Jews.In his award-winning, darkly comic novel about antisemitism, The Finkler Question, author Howard Jacobson creates a character who’s a complacent Jew who turns a blind eye to antisemitism.  His answer to anyone who dares suggest that extreme anti-Israel and anti-Jewish rhetoric might result in real life danger for Jews is a yawn.  Let me know when Jews are being beaten up in the streets, the character says.I’ve thought of that novel a lot lately. Jews are literally being beaten up in the streets now.  And shot.  And how am I changing in response?  The shift in public attitudes about Israel, the virulence of hatred against the Jewish state, has been building for so long that many of us have excused each new stage as somehow normal.  As anti-Israel rhetoric pushes more and more boundaries, it’s easy to get used to this new normal.  That would be a huge mistake. When I heard about the pogrom in Amsterdam, I was in Boston visiting my son.  I stayed near a bus stop emblazoned with a huge ad asserting that “In 100 years, people will still ask why you did nothing to stop Israel killing 186,000 people in Gaza today.”  In the past I might not have thought too much about this outrageous ad, which is inaccurate both in its inflated death count and in its omission of any mention of Hamas, and seems clearly designed to inflame passions against Israel and Zionists.  The ad now terrifies me.I’m petrified that the pervasive anti-Israel sentiment and antisemitism that we’ve seen in Amsterdam is spreading around the world.  I’m scared that anti-Israel rhetoric is putting me and those I love in harm's way. I feel that we Jews are truly in danger.Three Questions to Ask Yourself-Reading about the three El Al flights that made emergency journeys to Amsterdam to bring Israelis home, I longed to be on one of those planes.  Now is time for all Jews to ask ourselves three hard questions.1. How can we strengthen our connections with our fellow Jews? As we read about Jews being attacked by mobs in Amsterdam, or shot in Chicago, or threatened anywhere else in the world, is our first reaction to feel that we’re connected?  That a threat against a Jew anywhere is a personal attack on us as well? A key Jewish principle is that Kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh: All Jews are responsible for one another (Talmud Shevuot 39a).  Do we truly feel connected to our fellow Jews when they live elsewhere and might dress differently from us or speak a different language?  It’s time for all of us to find ways to strengthen our connections with our fellow Jews.2. What can I do to live more Jewish? When antisemites attack us, that’s our signal to double down on our Jewish life. The best answer to those who seek to intimidate us and harm the Jewish community is to increase our Jewish commitment.  For every attack on Jews, let’s resolve to strengthen our own Jewish lives in response.3. Is it time to leave? At what point is it time to leave our Diaspora communities?  I vividly remember my grandmother telling me how she knew it was time to leave Vienna in 1937 when antisemitism seemed out of control.  Over and over again, I’ve started asking myself: what would she say right now?  When is it time?  When we read about emergency flights taking Jews home to Israel, is it time for us to be on those planes as well?

Greater Manchester Police under fire after blatant negligence towards victims of pedophile ring-According to a report published on January 15, police and local authorities in the English city of Rochdale have for years ignored reports and testimonies from vulnerable minors who were victims of rape and sexual exploitation.By Cécile Ducourtieux (London (United Kingdom) correspondent)-Published on January 29, 2024, at 1:30 am (Paris), updated on January 29, 2024, at 3:03 pm

Rochdale, a former working-class satellite town of Manchester in the north-west of England, is now a city infamous for its "child sex abuse ring." In the early 2000s, dozens of mature men, mostly British of Pakistani origin, raped underage girls (most of them White). Coming from very modest backgrounds, these teenage girls were offered food and alcohol, then threatened and raped by dozens of men.For years, local authorities and the police turned a blind eye to these young girls' ordeal, until whistleblowers such as Sara Rowbotham, a former employee of the local health service, and Maggie Oliver, a former police inspector, finally brought these heinous crimes to light in the early 2010s.On January 15, an independent report commissioned by the mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham (Labour Party), condemned the extent of the failings of local officials and the Greater Manchester Police, who refused to take into account the testimony of victims and left them "at the mercy of their abusers" over the period from 2004 to 2013. Of the 74 Rochdale teenagers reported by council services as likely to have been sexually exploited by this pedophile ring, only three were "properly looked after" by social services. In addition, "at least" 96 individuals representing "a potential risk to minors" have not been worried or even questioned by the police.Prejudices concerning the girls' credibility-Sexual health specialist Sara Rowbotham was working in the NHS Emergency Response Unit when she began to raise the alarm about possible assaults on young girls in the mid-2000s. Despite dozens of reports between 2005 and 2011, her superiors turned a deaf ear. In 2008, one of the victims (the law forbids naming them to protect their anonymity) reported the incidents to the police, who opened an investigation. However, no action was taken on this report, as the young girl's word was not considered "reliable," and there was insufficient evidence of the abuse. The investigation was not reopened until 2010, and two years later, nine men were convicted of rape and sex trafficking. Today, dozens of victims are still waiting for justice. At the time, Greater Manchester Police highest-ranking officers welcomed a "fantastic result" for British justice, but the January 15 report deplores the fact that many victims' accounts of dozens of other possible criminals were ignored by the police.

WARN THE PEOPLE-WW3

EZEKIEL 33:1-6
1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2  Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3  If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4  Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5  He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6  But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

EZEKIEL 31:10-17
10 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.(HELL).
15Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
17They also went down into hell with him unto [them that be] slain with the sword; and [they that were] his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
18To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword. This [is] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 32:17-32
17 It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, [that] the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
18 Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, [even] her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
19 Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.
20 They shall fall in the midst of [them that are] slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
21 The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
22 Asshur [is] there and all her company: his graves [are] about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:
23 Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.
24 There [is] Elam (IRAN) and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
25 They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of [them that be] slain.
26 There [is] Meshech, Tubal,(RUSSIA) (GERMANY, TURKEY) and all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
27And they shall not lie with the mighty [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
28 Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with [them that are] slain with the sword.
29 There [is] Edom,(JORDAN) her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by [them that were] slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.
30 There [be] the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
31 Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, [even] Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
32 For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that are] slain with the sword, [even] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 38:1-23
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I (GOD) will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.(AFRICAN MUSLIMS,SUDAN,TUNESIA ETC)
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say,(RUSSIA-ARAB-MUSLIMS) I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13  Sheba, and Dedan,(SAUDI-ARABIA) and the merchants of Tarshish,(SPAIN) with all the young lions thereof,(ENGLAND,AND ALL ITS ASSOCIATES-CANADA,AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND, USA, AND WESTERN ENGLISH SPEAKING NATIONS) shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?(OIL IS IN SPOIL-I BELIEVE THATS WHY RUSSIA,ARAB/MUSLIMS MARCH TO ISRAEL)
14  Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?
15  And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
16  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

EZEKIEL 39:11-22
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)(EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN THE JORDAN VALLEY)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)
18  Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19  And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20  Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21  And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22  So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Then I saw that the second angel had a sickle in his hand, such as is used in harvesting. The second angel said: "Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the way to Iran."I saw those countries in a few split seconds."All of Turkey and those [inaudible] countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another."I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries. I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia - Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor - full of blood. I saw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; Nuclear weapons used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction – men destroying one another. I heard these words:"Israel, Oh Israel, the great judgment has come." The angel said, "The chosen, the church, the remnant, shall be purified. The Spirit of God shall prepare the children of God."I saw fires rising to heaven. The angel said: "This is the final judgment. My church shall be purified, protected and ready for the final day. Men will die from thirst. Water shall be scarce all over the Middle East. Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries."The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

ROMANS 1:26-27
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Israel welcomes decision; Hamas denies being kicked out-Diplomat says Qatar quitting Gaza mediation role, confirms Hamas to be booted from Doha-Source seems to deny decision followed US pressure, telling ToI it was due to repeated demonstrations by both Israel and Hamas that they weren’t interested in good faith talks-By Jacob Magid-Today, 6:29 pm-NOV 9,24

Qatar has decided to end its role as mediator between Israel and Hamas amid long-stalled negotiations for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal, a diplomat familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel on Saturday. The diplomat, who is not American, also confirmed Friday’s revelation by the US that Doha told Hamas officials late last month to leave the country, but appeared to deny that the decision was taken in connection with a request from the Biden administration. The diplomat said Qatar made the decision on its own, determining that it could not continue mediating between Israel and Hamas if neither side was willing to negotiate in good faith. And if it is no longer mediating, there is no purpose for Qatar to allow Hamas to maintain its offices in the country, the diplomat said. The diplomat lamented that the long-foundering ceasefire and hostage release negotiations “became more about politics and elections” for both Israel and Hamas, as opposed to a “serious attempt to secure peace.” The diplomat claimed both sides backed out of commitments they had made throughout the negotiations and were only engaged in them for the purpose of “political optics.”Earlier this week, former defense minister Yoav Gallant suggested to the families of hostages held in Gaza that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has kept the war going for political reasons, not security ones, preventing a ceasefire and hostage release deal. The diplomat said that once the decision was made by Qatar to cease its mediating role and to kick Hamas officials out of the country, it first informed the other mediators — the US and Egypt — and then told Hamas and Israel. The notification was provided at the end of October. No timeline was given for when Hamas will leave Doha, but it is not something that can happen overnight, the diplomat indicated. The diplomat stressed that Qatar’s decision isn’t necessarily permanent and could be reversed if both sides demonstrate a sincere willingness to negotiate in good faith. This is what happened in April, when Qatar quietly pushed Hamas out of the country, the diplomat says. The terror group’s leaders went to Turkey, but the US and Israel asked Doha to bring them back in order to resume talks, after attempts to do so with Hamas in Ankara did not succeed.Indeed, two government officials revealed that sequence of events to The Times of Israel in May.The diplomat speculated that after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran, Hamas officials will once again head to Turkey. This could place Ankara in a difficult position, though, as the Biden administration made clear Friday that it doesn’t want its allies hosting the terror group. An Israeli official in Netanyahu’s office issued a statement to reporters welcoming Qatar’s decision, saying that no country should host the terror group. The Israeli official asserted that Donald Trump’s election victory this week also contributed to the decision, suggesting that the Republican president-elect would not have supported Hamas’s continued presence in Doha.At the same time, a senior Hamas official contradicted the diplomat and US officials, telling reporters on condition of anonymity that the terror group had not received any directive from Qatar to leave the country.Qatar has hosted Hamas officials in Doha since 2012 when the terror group moved its headquarters out of Damascus amid the Syrian civil war. Successive US administrations from both parties urged Qatar to serve as a conduit to the terror group.Following Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, the US informed Qatar that Doha would not be able to maintain “business as usual” with the terror group. However, the administration held off on asking the Gulf state to shutter the Hamas office, viewing the communication channel with the group to be as critical as ever in brokering a ceasefire and hostage release deal. Those talks yielded a week-long deal last November, but they have failed to secure a permanent ceasefire or the release of the remaining 101 hostages.A US official told The Times of Israel on Friday that Hamas’s execution of American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin along with five other captives in late August, and subsequent rejection of more ceasefire proposals, are what led the administration to change its approach regarding the terror group’s continued presence in Doha, deeming it “no longer viable or acceptable.”The US decision also coincided with its unsealing of indictments against Hamas officials, including one of its top leaders Khaled Meshaal, who is known to reside in Doha, the US official said.“After rejecting repeated proposals to release hostages, its leaders should no longer be welcome in the capitals of any American partner,” a second senior administration official told The Times of Israel. The official said Hamas showed no signs of budging from “unrealistic positions” in the negotiations, maintaining conditions that would have effectively ensured its ability to remain in power in Gaza — “something the US and Israel will never accept.”Two weeks ago, the US asked Qatar to kick out Hamas, the US official said, adding that Doha agreed and gave the notice around October 28.Details regarding when the expulsion of Hamas officials will actually take place and where they will be ordered to go are still being worked out, the US official added. The official stressed that the administration is continuing to pursue a number of initiatives aimed at securing a hostage deal before the end of US President Joe Biden’s term and believes that the combination of Hamas’s expulsion from Qatar, US sanctions and other tools at Washington’s disposal could succeed in coaxing the terror group to come down from its demands. The US official stressed that Doha has played an “invaluable role” as a mediator throughout the conflict. It’s unclear what role Qatar will be able to play moving forward, once it no longer hosts Hamas leaders.Qatar has come under fire from Congressional Republicans who have been less praiseworthy of Doha’s role in the conflict and argued that the Gulf emirate could have placed more pressure on Hamas to secure a deal. The Biden administration has repeatedly pushed back against this criticism and has relied on Qatar as a mediator in several other conflicts in addition to the one in Gaza.Egypt is likely to continue playing a mediating role, given the contacts that it maintains with Hamas leaders in bordering Gaza.

Hezbollah fires dozens of rockets at Israel as IDF pounds Lebanon, Syria-No injuries reported in barrages on Israel; Lebanon reports death toll in Friday’s strikes in Tyre rises to seven, including two children-By Emanuel Fabian-Today, 6:13 pm-NOV 9,24

Hezbollah fired over 40 rockets at Israel on Saturday, according to the Israel Defense Forces, as the military and Lebanese terror group continued to trade cross-border strikes. In the afternoon, eight rockets were fired at the center of the Galilee with one impacting the area of Even Menachem, while the rest of the rockets were either intercepted or hit open areas. No injuries were reported as a result of that barrage.Sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and nearby towns on Saturday afternoon due to fears of a drone attack, but the military later said they were false alarms.A barrage earlier in the afternoon saw 25 rockets fired at the Galilee and Haifa Bay area, with the IDF saying some were intercepted while the rest landed in open areas. Five rockets were fired at the area on Saturday morning with the same result. Also in the afternoon, five rockets were launched at the Western Galilee, all of which were either intercepted or fell in open areas. The IDF also intercepted a drone launched from Iraq overnight. The drone, which the Iran-backed Islamic Resistance group took responsibility for, was shot down before crossing into Israeli airspace, but it still activated sirens in several towns in the southern Golan Heights.Another drone launched from Lebanon was also intercepted overnight in the Western Galilee, causing sirens to go off there as well.IAF pounds Lebanon, Syria-Overnight Saturday, Israeli fighter jets struck Hezbollah command rooms, weapons manufacturing sites, and other infrastructure in Beirut’s southern suburbs, the IDF said, adding that the sites were located “in the heart of a civilian population.”The military, which issued evacuation warnings to civilians in the area before the strikes, accused Hezbollah of using the local population as human shields.— צבא ההגנה לישראל (@idfonline) November 9, 2024-In Syria, several soldiers were wounded overnight in what appeared to be an Israeli airstrike in the Aleppo and Idlib area, Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported. There was no comment from the IDF on the strike.Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli air strikes in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre on Friday rose to seven people including two young girls, Lebanon’s health ministry said. The ministry also said that 46 people were injured in the attack, adding that rescuers were still searching for missing people under the rubble and that body parts had been found and will be “identified with DNA testing.”The IDF said it struck several Hezbollah command rooms where operatives had gathered.Alpinists finish week-long operation-The IDF’s elite reserve Alpinist Unit, under the 810th “Mountains” Regional Brigade, concluded a week-long operation this week on the Lebanese side of Mount Dov and on the outskirts of the town of Shebaa, the IDF said. The reservists located Hezbollah tunnels, rocket launchers and weapon depots amid the operation in the area, according to the IDF.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war there. Some 60,000 residents were evacuated from northern towns on the Lebanon border shortly after Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, amid fears Hezbollah would carry out a similar attack and due to increasing rocket and missile fire by the terror group. The attacks on northern Israel since October 2023 have resulted in the deaths of 41 civilians. In addition, 62 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ensuing ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September. Two soldiers have been killed in a drone attack from Iraq, and there have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries. The IDF estimates that some 3,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in the conflict. Around 100 members of other terror groups, along with hundreds of civilians, have also been reported killed in Lebanon. Hezbollah has named 516 members who have been killed by Israel amid the fighting, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. These numbers have not been consistently updated since Israel began a new offensive against Hezbollah in September.AFP contributed to this report.

Israel rejects ‘biased’ warning of famine in Gaza, says aid trucks enter war-torn towns-Convoy is first to Jabalia and Beit Hanoun since new op there began; additional border crossing set to open to allow more aid; Palestinians say 14 killed in strikes across Strip-By Emanuel Fabian,ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 5:14 pm-NOV 9,24

Israel rejected on Saturday a group of global food security experts’ warning of famine in parts of northern Gaza, where it is waging war against Palestinian terror group Hamas, as the military said it had let aid trucks in areas cut off by fighting.“Unfortunately, the researchers continue to rely on partial, biased data and superficial sources with vested interests,” the military said in a statement.Meanwhile, the Hamas-run civil defense agency reported 14 killed in Israeli strikes on a Khan Younis tent camp and a Gaza City school that the army said was used by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group. The independent Famine Review Committee said on Friday in a rare alert that there was a “strong likelihood” of imminent famine in parts of north Gaza with immediate action required from the warring parties to ease a catastrophic situation.Israel’s military said it had increased aid efforts including opening an additional crossing on Friday. In the last two months, 39,000 trucks carrying more than 840,000 tons of food have entered Gaza, it said, and meetings were taking place daily with the UN which had 700 trucks of aid awaiting pickup and distribution. Officials said that since the beginning of October, 713 aid trucks had entered northern Gaza via the Erez West Crossing. With some critics alleging starvation tactics in north Gaza, Israel’s main ally the US has set a deadline within days for it to improve the humanitarian situation or face potential restrictions on military cooperation. On Saturday, the IDF said it had delivered 11 humanitarian aid trucks to Jabalia and Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip two days earlier. The aid delivery was the first to reach the Strip’s far north since Israel launched renewed operations in the area a month ago, after Hamas forces regrouped there. In the past month, aid has continuously reached other areas of northern Gaza, including Gaza City, according to the military.Israel has also committed to opening a new border crossing with the Strip’s center at Kissufim for the delivery of humanitarian aid.Washington warned Jerusalem a month ago that Israel could face restrictions on US military aid if it failed to improve aid deliveries across Gaza by November 13. While Israel has taken some steps to meet these demands, US officials have stressed that more needs to be done.Several hundred people are estimated to remain in Jabalia, and a few thousand more in other towns in the area. The army said it has been working to evacuate the civilian population from towns north of Gaza City in order to operate against Hamas there without harming innocents. On Saturday, the IDF said troops had killed “dozens of terrorists” in Jabalia over the past day, as well as several gunmen in the southern city of Rafah, as strikes targeted military infrastructure across the Strip.Gaza’s Hamas-led civil defense agency said Israeli airstrikes killed at least 14 Palestinians overnight.Spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that a strike hit tents housing displaced Palestinians in the southern area of Khan Younis, killing at least nine people, including children and women. The Palestinian Red Crescent also confirmed the toll, saying 11 others were wounded in the strike and were taken to Nasser Hospital. According to the hospital, the dead included two women and a child. The IDF did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the blast.Bassal said a second strike killed five people, including children, and injured about 22 when “Israeli warplanes hit Fahad Al-Sabah School,” which had been turned into a shelter for “thousands of displaced people” in the Al-Tuffah district of Gaza City, in the Strip’s north. The dead and injured were taken to Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, he added.Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said that among the dead were two local journalists, a pregnant woman and a child. The army said the strike targeted Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror operatives operating at the scene, but did not give further details. The IDF has accused Hamas of embedding itself in civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools and mosques. The army said its strikes are based on intelligence of terrorist activity and that multiple steps are taken to minimize civilian casualties. The war in Gaza was sparked on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists stormed southern Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages.Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 42,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far. The toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.The United Nations said Friday that nearly 70 percent of the fatalities it had verified in the war were women and children, condemning what it alleged was a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.The tally by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights includes only fatalities it has managed to verify with three sources, and counting continues. At 8,119, the tally is at this stage much lower than the figure cited by Gaza’s health ministry.Israel’s diplomatic mission to the UN in Geneva said it categorically rejected the report.“Once again, OHCHR fails to accurately reflect the realities on the ground, and disregards the extensive role of Hamas and other terrorist organizations in deliberately causing civilian harm in Gaza,” it said.

Iran says Trump must change ‘harmful’ pressure policy, warns of ‘expansion of war’Top official Mohammad Javad Zarif says next US president should ‘show that he is not following the wrong policies of the past’ By AFP and ToI Staff Today, 5:14 pm-NOV 9,24

TEHRAN — Iran on Saturday urged US President-elect Donald Trump to reconsider the “maximum pressure” policy he pursued against Tehran during his first term.“Trump must show that he is not following the wrong policies of the past,” Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters.Meanwhile Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the wars in Gaza and Lebanon, where Israel is battling Tehran-backed terror groups, could spill over beyond the Middle East.“The world should know that in case of the expansion of war, its harmful effects will not be limited only to the West Asia region; insecurity and instability can spread to other regions, even far away,” he said.Zarif, a veteran diplomat who previously served as Iran’s foreign minister, helped seal the 2015 nuclear accord between Tehran and Western powers, including the United States. The deal, however, was torpedoed in 2018 after the US unilaterally withdrew from it under Trump, who later reimposed sanctions on Tehran. In response, Iran rolled back its obligations under the deal and has since enriched uranium up to 60 percent, a short step from nuclear grade.Tehran has repeatedly denied Western countries’ accusations that it is seeking to develop a nuclear weapon, while the latter have said there is no plausible civilian use for the highly enriched uranium.Zarif also said on Saturday that Trump’s political approach towards Iran had led to the surge in enrichment levels.“He must have realized that the maximum pressure policy that he initiated caused Iran’s enrichment to reach 60 percent from 3.5 percent,” he said.“As a man of calculation, he should do the math and see what the advantages and disadvantages of this policy have been and whether he wants to continue or change this harmful policy,” Zarif added.During his first term, Trump also ordered the killing of revered Iranian commander, Qasem Soleimani, who led the Revolutionary Guards’ foreign operations arm, the Quds Force.Soleimani was killed in a drone strike while he was in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in January 2020.Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Thursday said he hoped the president-elect’s return to the White House would allow Washington to “revise the wrong approaches of the past” — though he stopped short of mentioning Trump’s name.On Tuesday, Trump told reporters he was “not looking to do damage to Iran.”“My terms are very easy. They can’t have a nuclear weapon. I’d like them to be a very successful country,” he said after he cast his ballot.Trump’s victory comes as Iran has repeatedly conducted direct attacks on Israel, leading to Israeli retaliation and raising fears of further regional spillover of the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

Spanish port denies entry to Danish ship, alleging it’s carrying arms to Israel-Maersk says vessel not carrying ‘military weapons or ammunition’; Spain has been one of Israel’s biggest critics in Europe over war in Gaza, recognized Palestinian state this year-By AFP 9 November 2024, 8:25 pm

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A Maersk container ship has been denied entry to the Spanish port of Algeciras, the Danish shipping company said Saturday, denying that the vessel is transporting arms to Israel.“The cargo to be transshipped through the port does not include any military weapons or ammunition,” Maersk said in a communique.Spanish daily El Pais earlier this week cited Spanish government officials saying that the ship, as well as another also belonging to Maersk and due to dock later this month, “will not stop in Spain,” according to the press, because its cargo includes weapons being delivered to Israel.Spain, which is seeking to convince other European countries to recognize a Palestinian state, has refused to dock ships transporting arms to Israel.“To gain clarity for future operations, we have consulted the Spanish authorities to understand why entry was denied for cargo no different than previous shipments that have routinely been transshipped through this port without incident,” the Danish company said.“It is our understanding that Spain has in its discretion changed its criteria and is now rejecting vessels that carry anything military-related going to, or from, Israel, notwithstanding such cargo being legal.”The Maersk Denver diverted first to Tangier and, according to the specialized VesselFinder site, is now en route to Oman.Spain, which has stopped exporting arms to Israel, is one of the European countries most critical of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, which Israel launched to destroy the Gaza-ruling Hamas terror group after it invaded southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and abducting 251 to Gaza, where 97 are still held hostage.Alongside Ireland and Norway, the country recognized a Palestinian state in May, drawing ire from Israel, which said the move incentivized terrorism.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

IDF expands designated humanitarian zone in southern Gaza, where most aid is headed-Military also says it will allow more tents, shelter materials, food, water, and medical supplies to enter area, which is extended to include some neighborhoods of Khan Younis-By ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 4:03 pm-NOV 11,24

The Israel Defense Forces said Monday that it had expanded the designated “humanitarian zone” in southern Gaza, where the vast majority of the Palestinian population in the Strip currently resides. It also said it would allow more tents, shelter materials, food, water, and medical supplies to enter.According to a map released by the IDF, several neighborhoods of Khan Younis and some areas on the outskirts of the Nuseirat refugee camp were being added to the humanitarian zone. The zone is where most aid is directed, and where several field hospitals have been established. Its size has changed multiple times amid evolving IDF operations against the Hamas terror group.Residents of Nuseirat reported that Israeli tanks arrived in the western side of the camp Monday without warning, causing panic among the residents and displaced families there. The zone expansion came as a deadline approaches for the US to assess that Israel has improved supplies of humanitarian aid to Gaza.In mid-October, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Israel in a letter that it had 30 days — until November 13, this Wednesday — to implement significant improvements to the humanitarian situation in Gaza or jeopardize the continued supply of US weapons. They complained that a drop in aid supplies had called into question Israel’s commitment that it would not restrict the entry of aid into Gaza and that it is using US weapons in line with international law. That written commitment was provided last March in order to ensure Israel’s compliance with a national security memorandum issued by Biden in February. The memo applies to all recipients of US security assistance.Austin repeated that warning to his new Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, during their first phone conversation on Friday, saying Israel risks jeopardizing the ongoing provision of US weaponry for the Gaza war if it does not credibly show that it has improved the supply and distribution of aid to Gazan noncombatants, Channel 12 reported.Katz was said to respond that Israel is trying to cooperate on the aid issue, but Hamas keeps stealing supplies and selling them for high prices. Israel wants to be sure the aid reaches the populace, Katz said, and is working with Arab states to help ensure this. The expansion of the humanitarian zone comes amid an IDF operation against Hamas in northern Gaza’s Jabalia and nearby towns, during which over 55,000 Palestinian civilians have been displaced, according to Hamas-controlled authorities. The evacuated civilians have so far mostly headed to Gaza City, and not to the Strip’s south where the humanitarian zone is.With the war in Gaza now in its 14th month, Israel is focusing its operations in the north and center of Gaza on what it says is a campaign to stop Hamas terrorists from waging attacks and to prevent them from regrouping. The already slim chances of a ceasefire receded further over the weekend when mediator Qatar said it was suspending its efforts until both Israel and Hamas showed greater willingness to reach an agreement. The war in Gaza was sparked on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists stormed southern Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages.Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 43,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far. The toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.Emmanuel Fabian contributed to this report.

Closing case, Taiwan prosecutors say Hezbollah exploding pagers not made by local firms-Law enforcement officials say AR-924 model made outside of Taiwan and traded and shipped by Frontier Group Entity; admit they don’t know exact identities of that firm’s employees-By Reuters and ToI Staff Today, 12:56 pm-NOV 11,24

Taiwan on Monday said it had closed a probe into pagers that exploded in Lebanon in September and caused a deadly blow to the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group, saying no Taiwanese citizens or companies were involved.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted for the first time during Sunday’s weekly cabinet meeting that Israel was behind the pager and walkie-talkie attacks on Hezbollah in September, according to quotes leaked to Hebrew media. His office confirmed this on Monday.Thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies containing explosives detonated on their Hezbollah owners across Lebanon and parts of Syria on September 16 and 17, marking that start of a major Israeli offensive against the group. The pager explosions occurred after almost a year of incessant rocket and drone attacks on Israel by Hezbollah, which began a day after Hamas’s October 7 massacre and led to the evacuation of some 60,000 residents from northern Israel towns on the border with Lebanon.Security sources have previously said the pagers carried the name of Taiwan-based Gold Apollo, though the company has asserted that it did not make them. Taiwan’s government has also said the pagers were not made in Taiwan.Taipei prosecutors, who were investigating the case, said in a statement the AR-924 pager model that exploded in Lebanon was manufactured, traded, and shipped by a firm called Frontier Group Entity, and made outside of Taiwan. They added, however, that Gold Apollo had authorized the company to use the Apollo trademark.“There is no evidence indicating that any domestic manufacturers or individuals were accomplices in the relevant explosions, violating the Counter-Terrorism Financing Act, or engaging in other illegal activities,” the prosecutors said in a statement.“No concrete evidence of criminal activity has been discovered in this case, nor have any specific individuals been implicated in any criminal activity, following a comprehensive investigation.”Prosecutors have previously confirmed that they questioned Gold Apollo’s president and founder Hsu Ching-kuang and a woman called Teresa Wu, the sole employee of a company called Apollo Systems Ltd.In their statement, the prosecutors said Wu acted as a liaison with Frontier, but there was no evidence she “had prior knowledge or participated in any conspiracy or collaboration related to the explosion incidents.”The prosecutors said there was some information they did not know, including the exact identities of the Frontier employees Wu communicated with.It said one person was called “T” and was presumably the head of Frontier, while another was called “M” and was presumably the sales director.Gold Apollo told Reuters it had also just seen the prosecutors’ statement, and that it was not immediately able to comment further.Gold Apollo previously denied producing the devices and instead pointed the finger at its Budapest-based partner BAC Consulting KFT, alleged in some reports to be a Mossad front company.Lebanon said nearly 3,000 people were wounded in the attack. The toll did not differentiate between civilians and members of the terror group, and among the wounded was Tehran’s ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani.A Hezbollah official told Reuters that the attacks put 1,500 of the group’s fighters out of commission due to their injuries, with many having been blinded or had their hands blown off.In the aftermath, various media outlets reported that the attack was a highly sophisticated Israeli intelligence operation years in the making in which Hezbollah was fooled into purchasing the compromised devices. The explosions were followed up by a series of Israeli airstrikes that took out much of Hezbollah’s command structure, including terror chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an ongoing limited ground operation in southern Lebanon to eliminate the immediate threats posed by the terror group to Israel’s northern border communities.

Yemen missile interception sparks fire near Jerusalem; 4 drones launched from Iraq-Houthis say they targeted IDF base in central Israel; Yemen media says US, UK airstrikes hit targets in Amran and Saada governorates-By Emanuel Fabian,ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 10:27 am-NOV 11,24

A ballistic missile launched at Israel from Yemen was successfully intercepted before it entered Israeli airspace, the military said Monday morning. It was the second missile attack from Yemen on Israel in days. The Iran-backed Houthis took responsibility for the attack, saying it targeted the Israel Defense Force’s Nahal Sorek base in central Israel. The base is located approximately halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It is home to the army’s Ammunition Center, which is responsible for purchasing, collecting, storing, fixing and supplying weaponry, including everything from simple bullets to advanced missiles. The missile triggered sirens in the Beit Shemesh area in central Israel and in the southern West Bank.Shrapnel from an interceptor missile caused a fire in Beit Shemesh, the military and emergency services said.“Simultaneously with the extinguishing operations, the firefighters are carrying out additional scans in the area, in order to rule out additional fires and damage from interceptor/missile shrapnel,” the Jerusalem region fire service said in a statement. The Israel Defense Forces also said air defenses shot down four drones that were launched toward Israel overnight “from the east” — code for Iraq. The military said two of the UAVs were intercepted before they reached Israeli territory. The Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq took responsibility for launching the drones at Israel. The coalition of pro-Iran factions said it launched the UAVs at “vital targets” in northern and southern Israel. The Houthis have attacked Israel and global shipping over the past year, saying it was doing so in support of Palestinian terror group Hamas, which led an invasion of southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage, sparking the war in Gaza.On Friday, the Yemen militia claimed to target the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel with a ballistic missile. The IDF said the projectile was successfully intercepted.Monday’s ballistic missile attack from Yemen came hours after Al-Masirah TV, the main television news outlet run by the Houthis, said a series of airstrikes targeted the Amran and Saada governorates. The outlet said the strikes were carried out by the United States and Britain. There was no confirmation from either country. The US and UK have repeatedly struck Houthi targets in Yemen since January in response to attacks by the Iran-backed rebels on shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.US warplanes also staged multiple strikes Saturday night on Houthi advanced weapons storage facilities in Yemen, the Pentagon said. The facilities contained various weapons used to target military and civilian vessels navigating international waters throughout the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, according to information provided to AFP by the Pentagon. In more than 100 Houthi attacks over nearly a year, four sailors have been killed and two ships have sunk, while one vessel and its crew remain detained since being hijacked last November. The attacks have seriously disrupted a maritime route that carries 12 percent of global trade.Israel has also twice bombed Houthi targets in retaliation for ballistic missile and drone attacks, including one that killed a man in Tel Aviv.Yemen’s Houthis have fired over 220 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at Israel over the past year, saying that the attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been battling Hamas since the October 7 attack.Israel has also been attacked by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance in Iraq repeatedly over the past year.Last month, two soldiers were killed and 24 injured in a drone attack from Iraq. According to an IDF probe, two explosive-laden drones were launched from Iraq in the attack, one of which was shot down by air defenses while the second impacted an army base in the northern Golan Heights.

Trump looms over Saudi-hosted meeting of Arab, Muslim leaders on Mideast war-Analysts see Riyadh summit as opportunity for countries to signal what they want from incoming US president; condemnations of Israel, calls for de-escalation expected-By Agencies and ToI Staff Today, 10:10 am-NOV 11,24

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Arab and Muslim leaders gather in Saudi Arabia Monday for a summit addressing the wars in Gaza and Lebanon that will be a chance to send a message to US President-elect Donald Trump. The Saudi foreign ministry announced plans for the summit in late October during a meeting, also in Riyadh, of a new “international alliance” to press for the establishment of a Palestinian state. It comes one year after a similar gathering in Riyadh of the Cairo-based Arab League and the Jeddah-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation during which leaders condemned Israeli forces’ actions in Gaza targeting the Palestinian terror group Hamas — after it brutally attacked southern Israel in a shock onslaught —  as “barbaric.”This time around, Trump’s election last week for a second term in the White House is likely to be on leaders’ minds, said Anna Jacobs, senior Gulf analyst for the International Crisis Group think tank.“This summit is very much an opportunity for regional leaders to signal to the incoming Trump administration what they want in terms of US engagement,” she said.“The message will likely be one of dialogue, de-escalation, and calling out Israeli military campaigns in the region.”Israel has been at war with Hamas and its allies since October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists invaded southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, massacring some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, 97 of whom are still being held. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 42,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border with Lebanon on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war there. Some 60,000 residents were evacuated from northern Israel towns on the Lebanon border shortly after Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, amid fears Hezbollah would carry out a similar attack, and increasing rocket fire by the terror group. The regular cross-border exchanges escalated in late September. Amid intensified Hezbollah rocket attacks that have reached the center of the country, Israel has increased its airstrikes and sent ground troops into southern Lebanon vowing to make the border area secure for its northern communities.Despite criticism of the impact Israel’s military campaign has had on Gaza civilians, outgoing US President Joe Biden ensured that Washington remained Israel’s most important military backer during more than a year of fighting.Trump has told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he wants the war in Lebanon to end before his inauguration, sources told The Times of Israel last month.‘Rely on the Saudis’In his first term, Trump’s actions showed him as an even firmer supporter of Israel than Biden. He defied international consensus by recognizing the united East and West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving Washington’s embassy there. He also endorsed Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which most countries consider illegal under international law.Under the Abraham Accords, Trump oversaw the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, as well as Morocco.Though Saudi Arabia did not join those agreements, Trump cultivated warm ties with the Gulf kingdom while in office and has deepened his business connections to the region during the Biden years.Saudi Arabia has pressed pause on a US-brokered deal where it would recognize Israel in return for security and economic benefits, insisting there will be no diplomatic ties without progress toward a Palestinian state.Umer Karim, an expert on Saudi politics at the University of Birmingham, said Riyadh will use Monday’s summit to signal to the incoming Trump team that it remains a strong partner. The message is that Trump “can rely on the Saudis as being representatives of the Muslim world,” and that “if you want to extend American interests in the region, Saudi Arabia is your bet,” he said. The 57-member OIC and 22-member Arab League include countries that recognize Israel and those firmly opposed to its regional integration.Last year’s summit in Riyadh saw disagreement on measures like severing economic and diplomatic ties with Israel and disrupting its oil supplies.Karim said the post-summit statement on Monday will likely “strongly condemn Israel… while also pushing for greater American leverage and diplomacy on the issue.”The November 2023 meeting featured an appearance by Iran’s then-president Ebrahim Raisi, highlighting how regional diplomacy has changed since Trump was last in office. In March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia announced a China-brokered rapprochement after seven years of severed ties. The Middle East heavyweights have maintained regular high-level contact as part of efforts to contain the ongoing conflicts.Iranian state media said the chief of staff of the Saudi armed forces was to arrive in Tehran Sunday for talks, a rare high-level visit.

Israel says Palestinian Islamic Jihad operations head killed in Gaza strike-IDF and Shin Bet say Muhammad Abu Sakhil killed in command room embedded in former school; two soldiers injured by anti-tank fire in separate incidents in north Gaza-By Emanuel Fabian and Agencies Today, 12:20 am-NOV 11,24

A top Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander was killed in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the IDF and Shin Bet announced Sunday.According to a joint statement, Muhammad Abu Sakhil, the terror group’s operations chief, was killed in a strike Saturday carried out by fighter jets on a command room embedded within a former school in northern Gaza.Abu Sakhil was a “central operative” in Islamic Jihad, and was involved in “compiling situation assessments and coordinating terrorist operations” with Hamas, the statement said. Before the strike on the Fahd al-Sabah School, the IDF said it carried out “many steps” to mitigate civilian harm, including by using aerial surveillance and other intelligence. Also Sunday, two IDF officers were seriously wounded in separate incidents of fighting in the northern Gaza Strip, the military said. The officers served with the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd and 9th battalions. Both were wounded by anti-tank fire, according to initial IDF probes of the incidents. At least 40 Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes across Gaza on Sunday, including two dozen when a residential building in the northern town of Jabalia was hit, Palestinian health officials and a human rights group said. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) in Gaza said at least 24 people were killed when an Israeli strike destroyed the three-story building in Jabalia at dawn. Thirty other people from nearby houses were wounded, PCHR said in a statement.Footage circulating on social media, which Reuters could not immediately verify, showed about a dozen bodies wrapped in blankets and laid on the ground outside a hospital near Jabalia. Local media said they were the bodies of people killed in the attack on the residential building, which housed at least 30 people, according to residents. The military said it struck a site in Jabalia in which “terrorists were operating.”“These terrorists posed a threat to IDF troops operating in the area. The details are under review,” the military said.Several hundred people are estimated to remain in Jabalia, and a few thousand more in other towns in the area. Israel launched renewed operations in the area a month ago after Hamas forces regrouped there. The army said it has been working to evacuate the civilian population from towns north of Gaza City in order to operate against the terror group there without harming innocents. In Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Sabra neighborhood on Sunday killed Wael Al-Khour, an official at Gaza’s Hamas-run welfare ministry, as well as his wife, one son, two daughters and three grandchildren, medical officials and relatives said. The military said it was looking into the report. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its teams, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, evacuated 20 patients from Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia on Sunday to another facility in Gaza City. The IDF has accused Hamas of embedding itself in civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and mosques. The army said its strikes are based on intelligence of terrorist activity and that multiple steps are taken to minimize civilian casualties.Qatar, a key mediator between Hamas and Israel, said Saturday that it had suspended its efforts to negotiate a deal to end the war and return hostages taken by Hamas on October 7. It said it would resume its role when “the parties show their willingness and seriousness to end the brutal war.”Some Palestinians in Gaza responded with frustration.“The Arab silence that controls the Arab capitals, that’s because of the fear of the American administration and Israel,” said Akram Jarada, displaced from Gaza City.As experts from a panel that monitors food security say famine is imminent or may already be happening, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reportedly conveyed a “sharp” message to his new Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, during their first phone conversation on Friday, saying Israel risks jeopardizing the ongoing provision of US weaponry for the Gaza war if it does not credibly show that it has improved the supply and distribution of aid to Gazan noncombatants. In October, Austin and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Israel in a letter that it had 30 days — a deadline that ends Wednesday — to implement significant improvements to the humanitarian situation in Gaza or jeopardize the continued supply of US weapons.Israel rejected the experts’ warning of famine, with the military saying Saturday that “researchers continue to rely on partial, biased data and superficial sources with vested interests.”The military said it had increased aid efforts including opening an additional crossing on Friday. In the last two months, 39,000 trucks carrying more than 840,000 tons of food have entered Gaza, it said, and meetings were taking place daily with the UN, which had 700 trucks of aid awaiting pickup and distribution. At 8,119, the tally is at this stage much lower than the figure cited by Gaza’s health ministry.Israel’s diplomatic mission to the UN in Geneva said it categorically rejected the report.“Once again, OHCHR fails to accurately reflect the realities on the ground, and disregards the extensive role of Hamas and other terrorist organizations in deliberately causing civilian harm in Gaza,” it said.Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 370.

Russia and North Korea sign document on cooperation in another area-Russkaya Vesna-Update Time : Monday, November 4, 2024

The Russian Federation and the DPRK have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of digitalization, the Korean Central Telegraph Agency reported, and the press service of State Duma deputy Anton Nemkin told Russkaya Vesna. It is noted that the signatures were placed on October 30 by Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Andrei Zarenin and Deputy Minister Chan Young Gil.The document concerns cooperation in the field of communications, information technology and digital development. The DPRK IT market is quite promising for Russia, noted State Duma deputy and member of the Information Policy Committee Anton Nemkin.“The level of Internet penetration, as well as information technology in the country, is not that high. A significant part of the niches is free, including in the digital management segment,” the deputy noted. According to the deputy, it is the experience of digitalization of public administration that can be exported within the framework of cooperation.“In Russia, there are more than 700 federal state information systems, with the help of which various sectors are managed: from agriculture to healthcare.Over all this time, a colossal amount of experience has been accumulated, which can certainly be transferred to other countries.Let me remind you that the implementation of the GosTech project is currently ongoing. This is a cloud platform solution for all levels of government, with the help of which it is possible to quickly and efficiently develop state digital services on import-substituted components. The key principle of GosTech is the reuse of solutions.Government agencies can take a ready-made, boxed product and customize it to their needs, rather than spending resources on creating solutions from scratch. Potentially, the project can be scaled up to the markets of countries friendly to us,” Nemkin believes.According to the deputy, the countries can establish effective cooperation in the field of information security. “Cooperation in this area is extremely important – the DPRK, like Russia, faces large-scale information pressure. Exchange of experience, including in terms of training specialists in information security, will be useful for both countries,” the deputy believes. In any case, Nemkin notes, international cooperation is another growth point for the domestic information technology market. Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development Andrey Zarenin headed the Russian delegation at the exhibition of information and communication technology products in Pyongyang.

Israeli strike said to kill top Hezbollah assassin wanted for killing Lebanese PM-Salim Jamil Ayyash was sentenced in absentia by UN-backed tribunal to life in prison for role in 2005 suicide bombing that killed Rafiq Hariri-By Emanuel Fabian-and Agencies 10 November 2024, 8:55 pm

A Hezbollah commander responsible for the assassination of a former Lebanese prime minister was killed in a recent Israeli airstrike, Saudi media reported Sunday. The Al-Arabiya outlet said Salim Jamil Ayyash was killed, with unconfirmed reports on social media claiming he was struck near the Syrian city of al-Qusayr, a known Hezbollah stronghold.Ayyash, who had a $10 million reward from Washington on his head, was a senior member of Hezbollah’s Unit 151 assassination squad, according to the US State Department. In 2020, Ayyash was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment by a UN-backed tribunal over the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri in a suicide bombing in Beirut in 2005.Then-Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike in late September, refused to hand him over to the authorities, alongside three other defendants who were eventually acquitted.Ayyash faced a separate case at the tribunal over three other deadly attacks on Lebanese politicians in 2004 and 2005.Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel — which rarely comments on individual strikes in Syria — is believed to have carried out hundreds of strikes, mainly targeting army positions and Iran-backed fighters including from Hezbollah.Since Hamas’s brutal October 7 massacre last year, which saw some 1,200 people killed in Israel and 251 kidnapped, Israel has escalated its strikes on Iranian-backed terror targets in Syria and has also struck Syrian army air defenses and some Syrian forces.Israel has killed many of Hezbollah’s senior commanders in over a year of conflict, which began when the terror group began attacking Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis on October 8, 2023.Nasrallah himself was killed in a massive strike on the terror group’s headquarters in Beirut in September, alongside the commander of Hezbollah’s so-called Southern Front, Ali Karaki, and other commanders.Hezbollah’s most senior military leader, Fuad Shukr, was killed in July in response to a deadly rocket attack on the Golan Heights town of Majdal Shams. An ongoing limited ground operation in southern Lebanon aims to eliminate the immediate threats posed by the terror group to Israel’s northern border communities. The attacks on northern Israel since October 2023 have resulted in the deaths of 40 civilians. In addition, 61 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September. Two soldiers were killed in a drone attack from Iraq, and there have been several attacks from Syria, as well, without any injuries. The Lebanese health ministry says the country’s death toll in the war has surpassed 3,000. The figure does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. The IDF estimates that some 3,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in the conflict. Around 100 members of other terror groups have also been reported killed in Lebanon.

3 hurt in Hezbollah barrage on north as Sa’ar says ‘certain progress’ made on ceasefire-Rockets, drones fired at northern towns; toddler among wounded in Bi’ina; Hezbollah official says group has not received official truce proposal-By Emanuel Fabian,ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 3:04 pm-NOV 11,24

Three people were wounded Monday, including a toddler, as a result of a barrage of some 50 rockets fired at northern Israel by Hezbollah, and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said there had been “certain progress” toward a ceasefire in Lebanon.A 27-year-old woman was moderately injured and a 35-year-old man and a one-year-old girl were in good condition after they were hit by shrapnel following a rocket impact in the northern Arab town of Bi’ina. All three were taken by paramedics to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.According to the IDF, some 50 rockets were fired at the Galilee in the attack, some of which were intercepted by air defenses, while several rockets struck the Karmiel area and nearby towns.Hezbollah took responsibility for the barrage, claiming to have targeted “a training base for the Paratroopers Brigade in the Karmiel settlement.”A short time later, the IDF said a drone launched from Lebanon was intercepted by air defenses over the northern kibbutz of Malkia. Earlier an apparent drone from Lebanon crashed in an open area near the Western Galilee town of Liman, sparking a small brush fire.Other towns and communities in the north were also targeted with rocket fire throughout the day.The attacks came as the IDF continued its campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which aims to allow some 60,000 northern residents to return safely to their homes after being displaced by near-daily attacks since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terror onslaught.Sa’ar told reporters in Jerusalem that there has been some movement toward a potential Lebanon ceasefire.“There is certain progress,” Saar said in response to a question about a possible ceasefire. “We are working with the Americans on the issue,” he added.“We will agree to it if we know, first of all, that Hezbollah is not on our border, is north of the Litani river, and that Hezbollah will not be able to arm itself again with new weapons systems,” he said.At the same time, Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif said that the terror group had not received any official ceasefire proposal.Asked about ceasefire prospects, Afif said that since the election of Donald Trump last week to the United States presidency, there were “contacts between Washington, Moscow, Tehran and other capitals.”“I believe that we are still in the phase of testing the waters and presenting initial ideas and proactive discussions, but so far there is nothing actual yet,” he added. But he said, “according to my information nothing official has reached Hezbollah or the Lebanese state.”The Ynet news site reported on Monday that Israel and Lebanon had exchanged drafts through US envoy Amos Hochstein, signaling progress in efforts to reach a final agreement.Citing anonymous US officials, the report added that Hochstein was confident that the two sides would be able to reach a deal. The outlet also reported that Trump has informed the Biden administration that he expects to see progress in efforts to reach a ceasefire. In October, ahead of the November 5 presidential elections, Trump pledged to end the “suffering and destruction in Lebanon.”US officials have said they will make a final push to reach deals in the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza, although it is unclear how much leverage they have over Israel and other regional actors now gearing up for the incoming administration.Army Radio reported that Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer secretly visited Russia last week, apparently as part of Israel’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon.Russia is a major player in Syria, and its cooperation in a diplomatic arrangement to end fighting between Israel and Hezbollah could be an important part of a deal that keeps the Iran-backed group from rearming.Hezbollah began firing rockets, missiles and drones into Israel the day after Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack out of Gaza ignited the war there. The conflict escalated greatly this past September when Israel, after 11 months of Hezbollah cross-border fire, carried out a wave of heavy airstrikes that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and most of his top commanders.Israel aims to push Hezbollah away from the border so that tens of thousands of Israelis evacuated from their homes in northern Israel can safely return.

After US allegations, Iran denies plot to assassinate Trump-Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi says ‘repulsive’ charges by US prosecutors were conjured by Israel and opposition expats seeking to undermine US-Iran relations-By Reuters and ToI Staff 9 November 2024, 11:53 pm

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied US charges that Tehran was linked to an alleged plot to kill Donald Trump and called on Saturday for confidence-building between the two hostile countries.“Now … a new scenario is fabricated… as a killer does not exist in reality, scriptwriters are brought in to manufacture a third-rate comedy,” Araghchi wrote in a post on X.He was referring to the plot which US prosecutors said was ordered by Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards to assassinate Trump, who won Tuesday’s presidential election and takes office in January.“The American people have made their decision. And Iran respects their right to elect the president of their choice. The path forward is also a choice. It begins with respect,” Araghchi said.“Iran is NOT after nuclear weapons, period. This is a policy based on Islamic teachings and our security calculations. Confidence-building is needed from both sides. It is not a one-way street,” he added.Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said earlier that the claim of an assassination plan was a “repulsive” plot by Israel and the Iranian opposition outside the country to “complicate matters between America and Iran.”Remember the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran right after our President's inauguration? Everyone knows who did it and why. Now, with another election, a new scenario is fabricated with the same goal: as a killer does not exist in reality, scriptwriters are brought in.— Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) November 9, 2024-Iran unilaterally cut diplomatic ties with the US after its Islamic revolution in 1979. The country has since vowed to fight “American imperialism,” seeing the destruction of Israel as a primary objective in that struggle.Iranian analysts and insiders have not dismissed the possibility of a detente between Tehran and Washington under Trump, although without restoring diplomatic ties.“Iran will act based on its own interests. It is possible that secret talks between Tehran and Washington take place. If security threats against the Islamic Republic are removed, anything is possible,” Tehran-based analyst Saeed Laylaz said this week. While facing off against arch-foe Israel, Iran’s clerical leadership is also concerned about the possibility of an all-out war in the region, where Israel is engaged in conflicts with Tehran’s proxies in Gaza and Lebanon. One of Trump’s most notable foreign policy decisions during his previous term was to unilaterally withdraw the US from a six-nation agreement that temporarily paused Iran’s nuclear program. While the withdrawal caused new sanctions to be placed on the Islamic Republic, it emboldened Tehran to continue nuclear proliferation.

Pelosi: Biden should have dropped out earlier, primary should have been held-In New York Times interview, former House speaker says Democratic Party did not abandon working class voters, but election decided because of ‘guns, God and gays’By ToI Staff Today, 7:03 pm-NOV 9,24

Former US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi blamed US President Joe Biden in an interview published Thursday for US Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election, saying Harris’s chances would have been better had Biden dropped out of the race earlier.Speaking to The New York Times, Pelosi said that when Biden quit the race in July, it was presumed there would be an open primary for the Democratic nominee. Biden, however, endorsed his deputy within an hour, effectively precluding such a possibility.“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi told The Times’ journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro, the host of the paper’s podcast “The Interview.” “The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary.”“And as I say, Kamala may have, I think she would have done well in that and been stronger going forward. But we don’t know that. That didn’t happen. We live with what happened. And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. If it had been much earlier, it would have been different.”Biden, who initially refused to step aside as nominee despite calls to do so after a disastrous debate against Trump, eventually ceded to a high-pressure campaign led by Pelosi. In the interview, Pelosi rejected the idea put forward by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders that the Democrats’ loss was caused by the party’s abandonment of the American working class.“Bernie Sanders has not won. With all due respect, and I have a great deal of respect for him, for what he stands for, but I don’t respect him saying that the Democratic Party has abandoned the working-class families.”Instead, Pelosi attributed Trump’s victory to cultural issues, saying, “Guns, God and gays — that’s the way they say it. Guns, that’s an issue; gays, that’s an issue, and now they’re making the trans issue such an important issue in their priorities; and in certain communities, what they call God, what we call a woman’s right to choose.”Former US president Trump won the election on Tuesday with 301 electoral college votes out of the 270 necessary for victory and 50.5 percent of the popular vote.
