The second angelsaid, “Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the wayto Iran.” Isawthose countriesin a fewsplitseconds. “All of Turkey and those other countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another.” I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries.I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia – Iraq, Syria,Lebanon,Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor – full of blood. Isaw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; nuclear weapons were used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction – men destroying one another. EZEKIEL 17:15-24 (MUSLIM COUNTRIES HISTORY)
15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
16 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the Lord have spoken it.
22 Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it.

Finds 50% have close relative with ties to terror groups-Israeli intel shows 10% of UNRWA workers in Gaza have ties to terror groups — reportWall Street Journal says document alleges around 1,200 Gaza employees of UN agency for Palestinian refugees have connections to either Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad-By ToI Staff 29 January 2024, 5:04 pm

Israeli intelligence assesses that some 10% of all UNRWA employees in Gaza have ties to terror organizations, in addition to at least 12 employees it says were involved in the October 7 terror onslaught in southern Israel, according to a new report. The Wall Street Journal said Monday that intel Jerusalem shared with the US indicated that of the roughly 12,000 Gazan employees of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, some 1,200 have ties to either Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The report further stated that around 50% of the UN agency’s employees in Gaza have at least one close relative with ties to the terror groups. The Associated Press said it saw an Israeli document alleging that at least 190 UNRWA workers were themselves  Hamas or Islamic Jihad operatives, without providing evidence. It was not clear whether it was the same document. The latest accusations prompted UNRWA to announce on Friday that it had fired several employees over the unspecified accusations. Despite that move, since the announcement many donors including the US, Germany, Britain, Italy, Australia and Finland have suspended funding to the agency pending an investigation.A dossier provided to The Wall Street Journal by the US government on Monday examined the involvement of UNRWA employees in the October 7 terror onslaught, in which thousands of Hamas-led terrorists burst into Israel from Gaza, slaughtering some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages.According to the dossier, an UNRWA school counselor from Khan Younis in southern Gaza was suspected of working with his son to abduct a woman from Israel, while a social worker from the central Gaza city of Nuseirat was accused of helping snatch a dead Israeli soldier to Gaza.A third UNRWA employee was said by the New York Times to have taken part “in the massacre at a kibbutz where 97 people died” — apparently Kibbutz Be’eri, which was ravaged on October 7 in the Hamas-led attack. One other worker was said to have been tracked to the site of the Supernova music festival near Re’im, where 360 people were slaughtered, while others coordinated logistics and procured weapons ahead of and on October 7.According to the Reuters news agency, two of the alleged Hamas operatives cited in the dossier are described as “eliminated,” having been killed by Israeli forces. A 12th Palestinian whose name and picture are provided is said to have no factional membership and to have infiltrated Israel on October 7 independently as masses joined the terrorists raiding Israeli communities. Also on the list of the 12 men are an UNRWA teacher accused of arming himself with an anti-tank rocket, another teacher accused of filming a hostage, and the manager of a shop at an UNRWA school accused of opening a war room for Islamic Jihad.Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, a senior Israeli government official said: “UNRWA’s problem is not just a few bad apples involved in the October 7 massacre. The institution as a whole is a haven for Hamas’s radical ideology.”The accusations against UNRWA are the latest in a long line of Israeli complaints about the UN agency, such as that it allows anti-Israeli incitement to be taught in its hundreds of schools and that some of its staff collaborate with Hamas. The Trump administration suspended funding to the agency in 2018, but US President Joe Biden restored it.Supporters of the agency have claimed that the allegations against it aim to diminish the long-festering refugee issue and called the cut in funding collective punishment.Last week, UNRWA’s Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini said he would appoint an independent entity to look into the claims — both “what is true or untrue” and “what is politically motivated.” He also said the accusations were hurting the agency’s already strained operations amid the humanitarian crisis caused by the war. There are today 58 designated refugee camps where UNRWA operates, in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Unlike most war refugees around the world, the agency recognizes as refugees descendants of those displaced in 1948 amid Israel’s War of Independence, regardless of their circumstances.Critics allege this has fostered and encouraged a decades-long culture of dependence and victimhood among Palestinians. On Monday, a spokesperson for the agency said that if funding is not restored, it will not be able to continue operations in Gaza and across the region beyond the end of February.Germany said in response that UNRWA is not the only source of humanitarian aid for Palestinians and that other avenues can be explored. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has said that more than 26,000 people have been killed since the start of the war in Gaza, though these figures cannot be independently verified, and are believed to include both civilians and Hamas members killed in Gaza, including as a consequence of terror groups’ own rocket misfires. The IDF says it has killed over 9,000 terror operatives in Gaza, in addition to some 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.The United Nations estimates that more than 85% of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced as a result of the intensive ground operation and aerial bombardment carried out by Israel, which vowed to eradicate Hamas from Gaza and end its 16-year rule.As the war has pressed on, forcing civilians to move further and further south, people have become increasingly reliant on the humanitarian aid provided by UNRWA and many more have had to make their new homes inside shelters operated by the UN agency.

Israel accuses 190 UN staff of being 'hardened' militants-By Dan Williams and Gabrielle Tétrault-Farber-January 29, 20244:49 PM ESTUpdated 17 hours ago

JERUSALEM/GENEVA, Jan 29 (Reuters) - An Israeli intelligence dossier that prompted a cascade of countries to halt funds for a U.N. Palestinian aid agency includes allegations that some staff took part in abductions and killings during the Oct. 7 raid that sparked the Gaza war.The six-page dossier, seen by Reuters, alleges that some 190 UNRWA employees, including teachers, have doubled as Hamas or Islamic Jihad militants. It has names and pictures for 11 them. The United Nations has not formally received a copy of the dossier, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Monday. The Palestinians have accused Israel of falsifying information to tarnish UNRWA, which says it has fired some staffers and is investigating the allegations. The dossier said one of the 11 is a school counsellor who helped his son abduct a woman during the Hamas infiltration in which Israel says 1,200 people were killed and 253 kidnapped.Another, an UNRWA social worker, is accused of unspecified involvement in the transfer to Gaza of a slain Israeli soldier's corpse and of coordinating the movements of pick-up trucks used by the raiders and of weapons supplies.A third Palestinian in the dossier is accused of taking part in a rampage in the Israeli border village Beeri, one-tenth of whose residents were killed. A fourth is accused of participating in an attack on Reim, site both of an army base that was overrun and a rave where more than 360 revellers died.Foreign Minister Israel Katz said UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini should go. "UNRWA employees participated in the massacre of October 7," he said. "Lazzarini should draw conclusions and resign."Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh accused Israel of a "premeditated political attack" on the agency, which it has long criticized, and called for restoration of aid funds. The dossier was shown to Reuters by a source who could not be identified by name or nationality. The source said that it had been compiled by Israeli intelligence and shared with the United States, which on Friday suspended funding for UNRWA.An Israeli official told Reuters the 190 mentioned in the dossier were "hardened fighters, killers" whereas overall some 10% of UNRWA staff were believed to have more general affiliation with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The agency employs 13,000 people in Gaza. More than 10 countries, including major donors the United States and Germany, have halted their funding to the agency.AID OPERATION JEOPARDIZED-That is a huge problem for an agency that more than half of Gaza's 2.3 million Palestinians look to for day-to-day assistance, and which has already been hard-stretched by Israel's war on Hamas in the enclave.UNRWA said on Monday it would be unable to continue operations in Gaza and across the region beyond the end of February if funding were not resumed.U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is due to meet with major UNRWA donors in New York on Tuesday, Dujarric said.Guterres spoke on Monday with the leaders of Jordan and Egypt and also met with the head of U.N. internal investigations to ensure that an inquiry into the Israeli accusations "will be done swiftly and as efficiently as possible," Dujarric said.Washington would be looking very hard at the steps UNRWA takes in response to the allegations, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at a news conference, describing the allegations as "highly credible" and "deeply, deeply troubling."Asked under what circumstances and how soon the U.S. could consider resuming support for UNRWA, Blinken said, "It is imperative that UNRWA immediately, as it said it would, investigate, that it hold people accountable as necessary, and that it review its procedures."The United Nations Relief and Works Agency was set up for refugees of the 1948 war at Israel's founding in what had been British-ruled Palestine. It also tends to millions of the original refugees' descendants in Palestinian territories and abroad.Israel has long accused UNRWA of perpetuating conflict by discouraging resettlement of refugees and on occasions in the past has said agency staff took part in armed attacks.UNRWA denies wrongdoing, describing its role as relief only."From intelligence information, documents and identity cards seized during the course of the fighting, it is now possible to flag around 190 Hamas and PIJ terrorist operatives who serve as UNRWA employees," the Hebrew-language dossier says.It accuses Hamas of "methodically and deliberately deploying its terrorist infrastructure in a wide range of U.N. facilities and assets" including schools. Hamas denies that. Two of the alleged Hamas operatives cited in the dossier are described as "eliminated", or killed by Israeli forces. A 12th Palestinian whose name and picture are provided is said to have no factional membership and to have infiltrated Israel on Oct. 7.Also in the list of 12 men are an UNRWA teacher accused of arming himself with an anti-tank rocket, another teacher accused of filming a hostage and the manager of a shop in an UNRWA school accused of opening a war-room for Islamic Jihad.More than 26,000 people have been killed in Israel's military campaign against Hamas in Gaza, the enclave's health ministry said. With flows of aid like food and medicine just a trickle of pre-conflict levels, deaths from preventable diseases as well as risk of famine are growing, aid workers say. Most of Gaza's people have become more reliant on UNRWA aid, including about one million who have fled Israeli bombardments to shelter in its facilities."The terrorist organisations are cynically exploiting the residents of the Strip and the international organisations whose mission is to provide aid ... and in doing so are causing de facto harm to residents of the Strip," the dossier said.At the weekend, Guterres vowed to hold to account any employee involved in "abhorrent" acts, but implored nations to keep funding UNRWA for humanitarian reasons."The tens of thousands of men and women who work for UNRWA, many in some of the most dangerous situations for humanitarian workers, should not be penalized," Guterres said on Sunday. "The dire needs of the desperate populations they serve must be met."Writing by Dan Williams in Jerusalem; Additional reporting by Gabrielle Tétrault-Farber in Geneva, Ari Rabinovitch in Jerusalem, Ali Sawafta in Ramallah and Michelle Nichols at the United Nations; Editing by Andrew Cawthorne and Richard Chang

Daily Briefing Jan 30: Day 116 – Israeli resettlement of Gaza is no longer a fringe idea-Zman Yisrael editor Biranit Goren speaks about what the Kerem Shalom border protests represent; Arab affairs reporter Luca Pacchiani on how Arabic-language media covered Oct. 7
By ToI Staff Today, 1:49 pm-JAN 30

Welcome to The Times of Israel’s Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what’s happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.Today is Day 116 of the war. Zman Yisrael editor Biranit Goren and Arab affairs reporter Luca Pacchiani join host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today’s episode. This morning, activists and relatives of hostages again arrived near the Kerem Shalom border crossing with the Gaza Strip, aiming to block trucks with humanitarian aid from entering as long as the Hamas terror group continues to hold 136 hostages and deny them their basic rights. Goren explains who the varied protesters are and what they represent. The White House on Monday slammed a conference on Sunday night in Jerusalem aimed at encouraging the reestablishment of Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip, which was attended by nearly one-third of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet. We hear what this far-right conference means in the context of the war and the ongoing genocide case.According to a Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) survey published last month, over 90 percent of Palestinians polled believe that “Hamas did not commit the atrocities seen in the videos” on October 7, referring to attacks on civilians. That number rises to a whopping 97% when only including West Bank residents, compared to 83% of Gazans. Pacchiani explains how this is possible.According to a report last week, Hamas leaders, hunkered down in subterranean bunkers in the Gaza Strip, are reportedly communicating with each other using handwritten notes carried around the war-torn territory by runners.

Far-right Ben Gvir: 'We are returning home, to Gush Katif' Cabinet members call to resettle Gaza, encourage Gazans to leave, at jubilant conference-11 ministers, 15 coalition MKs present amid dancing at right-wing confab attended by thousands; Likud minister appears to endorse coercive measures to promote Palestinian emigration-By Jeremy Sharon-29 January 2024, 3:42 amUpdated at 12:40 pm

In front of an impassioned audience of thousands of right-wing activists, 11 government ministers and 15 coalition lawmakers pledged Sunday night to rebuild Jewish Israeli settlements in the heart of the Gaza Strip, with some also encouraging the emigration of the Palestinian population after the war with Hamas is over.Speaking amid a carnival-like atmosphere at the Jerusalem International Convention Center, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the leader of the ultranationalist Religious Zionism party, extolled the virtues of creating new settlements, declaring: “God willing, we will settle and we will be victorious.”National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, leader of the extreme-right Otzma Yehudit party, told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was not present, and the audience that it was “time to return home to Gush Katif” — the name of the Israeli settlement bloc in Gaza that was evacuated in the 2005 Disengagement.Smotrich and Ben Gvir, together with six coalition MKs, signed what was dubbed the “Covenant of Victory and Renewal of Settlement,” which pledged that the signatories would “grow Jewish settlements full of life” in the Gaza Strip.Alongside them, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi of Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party also called for building settlements in Gaza and “encouraging voluntary emigration.”But Karhi went further than his fellow ministers, saying that the war imposed on Israel by the Hamas terror group meant that Gazan civilians could now be coerced into saying they want to leave the territory.Similarly, one banner in the crowd said, “Only a transfer [of Palestinians from Gaza] will bring peace.”Said Ben Gvir: “To encourage voluntarily, yes; to encourage voluntarily, you’re right. To encourage them voluntarily to go away from here, you’re right.”A banner reading ‘Only a transfer [of Palestinians from Gaza] will bring peace,” at a conference promoting the revival of Jewish settlements in Gaza, at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, January 28, 2024. (Chaim Goldberg/Flash90)-Footage from the conference drew backlash on social media, with critics noting that government and coalition ministers were gleefully dancing while a war is raging, tens of thousands of Israelis are displaced, soldiers are being killed on a near-daily basis, and 136 hostages are still being held by terrorists in Gaza. The party’s really getting going at the resettle Gaza conference… pic.twitter.com/DwBtBprbEg— Jeremy Sharon (@jeremysharon) January 28, 2024-Netanyahu himself didn’t attend the conference, and indicated Saturday night that he opposes resettling Gaza and that this wasn’t an accepted government policy.Asked about the issue at a televised press conference, the premier said lawmakers and ministers were allowed to speak their minds, but Israel’s policy on postwar Gaza was set by the full security cabinet, the body authorized to make such decisions, and that no decision to resettle Gaza had been made. His opposition to revived Jewish settlement in Gaza “has not changed,” he said.‘Correcting the mistake’Sunday night’s conference was organized by the Nachala settlement activist group and the West Bank’s Samaria Regional Council and its head Yossi Dagan. The event’s express purpose was to serve as a rallying cry to the general public and the government to take advantage of the current war, in which the Israel Defense Forces has asserted control over large parts of the Gaza Strip, and begin to build Jewish settlements in the coastal enclave once again. The crowd at a conference promoting the revival of Jewish settlements in Gaza, at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, January 28, 2024. (Chaim Goldberg/Flash90)-Israel dismantled its 21 settlements in the Gaza Strip, and compelled their 8,000 residents to leave, when it unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005, pulling back to the pre-1967 lines. Hamas violently ousted the Fatah faction of the PA and seized power in Gaza in 2007, prompting Israel and Egypt to impose a blockade to try to limit the terror group’s ability to arm itself.Housing and Construction Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf, head of the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party, attended and called for the reconstruction of Jewish settlements in Gaza, as did the numerous settler leaders who organized the event.Ben Gvir, like many other speakers, argued that the evacuation of the settlements in the 2005 Disengagement had resulted in terrorism and rocket fire emanating from the territory against Israeli citizens, culminating in the October 7 massacre in which thousands of Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, murdering some 1,200 and taking 253 hostages to the Strip.“Part of correcting the mistake, of recognizing the sin of the conception that brought upon us October 7 and brought upon us the expulsion [ of settlers from Gaza in 2005], is to return home… [We] are returning home, to Gush Katif and northern Samaria,” said Ben Gvir, also referencing four settlements in the northern West Bank that were also evacuated in 2005 as part of the disengagement.Endorsing the idea of getting Palestinians to leave Gaza, the hardline minister added: “We need to return home, to rule the territory, and yes, also to offer a moral and logical solution to the humanitarian problem: encourage emigration and [pass a] death penalty law [for terror convicts].”Ben Gvir goaded Netanyahu, telling him that it was “the task of brave leadership to take brave decisions.”Despite being a minister, Ben Gvir has been criticizing the government’s war-related policies, complaining of being sidelined. However, he has said he isn’t weighing bringing down the government for now.Smotrich was somewhat more cautious than Ben Gvir and did not explicitly call for the construction of settlements in Gaza in his speech, although he heavily hinted that he favored such a path.He said that Israel could either “once again run away from terrorism” or “we settle the land, control it, fight terrorism and bring security to the entire State of Israel.“Without settlement, there is no security. And without security on Israel’s borders, there is no security in any part of Israel.”Concluded the finance minister: “God willing, together we will be victorious; God willing, together we will settle and be victorious.”Karhi made similar comments: “We must settle Gaza, with security forces and settlers who will wrap them and this land in love.”And in what appeared to be a tacit endorsement of exerting pressure on Palestinian residents of Gaza to leave the territory, Karhi said: “We have an obligation to act, for our sakes and even for the sake of those purported uninvolved civilians, to [bring about] voluntary emigration — even if this war, which was imposed on us, turns this voluntary migration into a situation of ‘Coerce him until he says, ‘I want to do so’” — quoting a principle in Jewish law whereby someone can be coerced into performing certain religious obligations by physical or other forms of pressure.Coalition show of force-In total, 11 cabinet ministers and 15 additional coalition MKs attended the conference, organizers said. The Likud ministers who came to the event were Karhi, Haim Katz, Idit Silman, May Golan and Amichai Chikli. Otzma Yehudit ministers Ben Gvir, Yitzhak Wasserlauf and Amichai Eliyahu also took part, alongside Religious Zionism’s Smotrich and Orit Strock, and UTJ’s Goldknopf. The entire Otzma Yehudit Knesset faction was present, while far-right religious leaders, including the influential Rabbi Dov Lior, were also in attendance. The crowd was overwhelmingly from the religious Zionist community, with hundreds of youths and many families, including young children, also participating.Settlement activists at a conference in Jerusalem to promote the construction of Jewish settlements in Gaza go up on stage in dedicated groups which seek to establish six new settlements in the coastal enclave, January 28, 2024. (Courtesy the Nachala Settlement Movement)-Ready to move-Nachala has established six settlement groups composed of 400 families from around the country who would theoretically be willing to establish six new settlements in Gaza should the government permit such activity. The organization has mapped out where those settlements would be constructed, including sites deep inside urban areas of the Palestinian city of Khan Younis and in the heart of Gaza City.Speaking during the conference, Nachala chairwoman and veteran settler activist Daniella Weiss also endorsed the idea of having Gazans leave the territory.“Millions of war refugees go from country to country around the world,” she declared, asking why “only the monsters who grew in Gaza and turned this beautiful part of the land into a ghost land — only they should be connected to it? They, specifically, can’t move from a land they turned into hell and from where they threaten to destroy Israel?“Only the people of Israel will settle the entire Gaza Strip and will rule the entire Gaza Strip,” she concluded.

Musk says 1st human patient received Neuralink brain implant-Entrepreneur says initial results showing ‘promising neuron spike detection’ that could be used to operate devices by thinking-By Reuters and ToI Staff Today, 1:24 pm-JAN 30,24

The first human patient received an implant from brain-chip startup Neuralink on Sunday and is recovering well, the company’s billionaire founder Elon Musk said.“Initial results show promising neuron spike detection,” Musk said in a post on the social media platform X on Monday.Spikes are activity by neurons, which the National Institute of Health describes as cells that use electrical and chemical signals to send information around the brain and to the body. The goal is to supercharge human capabilities, treat neurological disorders like ALS and Parkinson’s, and maybe one day achieve a symbiotic relationship between humans and artificial intelligence. The US Food and Drug Administration gave the company clearance last year to conduct its first trial to test its implant on humans, a critical milestone in the startup’s ambitions to help patients overcome paralysis and a host of neurological conditions. In September, Neuralink said it received approval for recruitment for the human trial. The study uses a robot to surgically place a brain-computer interface (BCI) implant in a region of the brain that controls the intention to move, Neuralink said previously, adding that its initial goal is to enable people to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts alone. The implants’ “ultra-fine” threads help transmit signals in participants’ brains, Neuralink has said.Neuralink’s technology will mainly work through an implant called the “Link” — a device about the size of five stacked coins that is placed inside the human brain through invasive surgery. The first product from Neuralink would be called Telepathy, Musk said in a separate post on X.The device “Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking. Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs.”“Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal,” he added referring to the acclaimed physicist who died in 2018. Hawking defied predictions he would only live for a few years after developing a form of motor neuron disease that left him confined to a wheelchair. He famously overcame its debilitating effects on his mobility and speech that left him paralyzed and able to communicate only via a computer speech synthesizer. The startup’s PRIME Study is a trial for its wireless brain-computer interface to evaluate the safety of the implant and surgical robot.Neuralink did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for further details. The company has faced calls for scrutiny regarding its safety protocols. Reuters reported earlier this month that the company was fined for violating US Department of Transportation (DOT) rules regarding the movement of hazardous materials.Neuralink was valued at about $5 billion last June, but four lawmakers in late November asked the US Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether Musk had misled investors about the safety of its technology after veterinary records showed problems with the implants on monkeys included paralysis, seizures and brain swelling.Musk wrote in a social media post on September 10 that “no monkey has died as a result of a Neuralink implant.” He added that the company chose “terminal” monkeys to minimize risk to healthy ones.Though he wins most of the headlines, Musk is hardly alone in trying to make advances in the field, which is officially known as brain-machine or brain-computer interface research.Hit with delays, the tycoon had reportedly reached out to join forces with implant developer Synchron about a potential investment.Unlike Neuralink’s Link, its implant version does not require cutting into the skull to install it.The Australia-based Synchron implanted its first device in a US patient in July 2022.
