Among any group of human beings there always arises a bully. We’ve all experienced it since our days in grade school, even in kindergarten.My wife and I sometimes kept nursery and toddlers in church on Sunday mornings so that the younger parents could enjoy church service without the worry of riding herd on their little ones. I observed the same behavior among the very youngest. There was always one or two who bullied the others—took away toys or did other obnoxious things.These, of course, didn’t really think or know that they were doing anything wrong. It was just a natural, human trait.And that’s the problem. The natural thing amongst humans is the part of us that has brought forth the troubles throughout human history.The natural in this matter stems from the sin nature intrinsic to the fallen, human creation.“Progressing” up through junior high and beyond the bullying becomes more serious. It is done knowingly and with purpose. The purpose—to lord it over someone else for the bully’s own ego and sense of power and control.It becomes even more evident in the business world, as people joust and elbow to climb the ladders of success within corporate structures.Then we come to the arena of politics and government. We have witnessed this in a profound way within the last four years, in my opinion. We are seeing it even now, as far as I’m concerned, in the way the swamp-entrenched medical “experts” within Washington, DC, officialdom have caused the rest of us to completely give up our livelihoods and altered, perhaps permanently, the American way of life.These have bullied even this president, in my view. They walked into the Oval Office and extorted him with the threat of 2.2 million deaths from the coronavirus, if he didn’t shut down the nation’s close interaction.I admire Mr. Trump and believe him to be God’s man for the crucial hour so near the end of the age, as many who read our columns know. However, even such a self-confident, “Make America Great Again”president like Donald Trump is intimidated by the “experts” saying that 2.2 million Americans will likely die unless he follows their “expert” advice.Now, I sense he is realizing the mistake of listening to the veiled intimidation and is trying to finesse America’s way out of this national economic nightmare. The doctors still hold the intimidating authority, though. To me, it is obvious in the way these “authorities,” through using barely comprehensible medical jargon, step to the microphones and coyly contradict the president’s words about starting the nation back up.So the bullying continues even within this so-called pandemic.Bullying has been, of course, powerfully manifested by nations throughout history.The ancient rulers of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, Egypt, and all the rest literally beat their subjects and nations around them if those victims didn’t comply with the bully-rulers’ demands. This is seen in modern times by the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and even lesser tyrants like Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot, Idi Amin and many, many others.To my way of observation, today’s most pronounced national bully is China. This monstrous dictatorship from the far reaches of the Orient has, through accident or deliberate perpetration, shown itself to be clearly the leading bully on the international block.China is now seen as the prime culprit in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. They almost certainly, according to intelligence services from the UK and America, deliberately unleashed the disease after it, most likely, accidentally escaped biological laboratories near the Chinese city of Wuhan.It is thought that the dictator-leadership of China determined that since it escaped, they would keep the fact from other nations—particularly from the Western nations, so their economy wouldn’t be the only one to catastrophically suffer if and when the pandemic developed—as it did.Intelligence sources accuse Chinese President Xi Jinping of rounding up perhaps millions of coronavirus-infected Chinese people and having them murdered so that the disease wouldn’t appear to be so widespread in that country. For the second time recently, American warships have sailed through the sensitive area known as the Taiwan Strait. This is an expanse of waters that separate the tiny island nation of Taiwan from mainland communist China.The communist regimes in the mainland have always considered Taiwan to belong to China. It is an illegitimate government that rules in Taiwan, the Chinese government continues to declare, because rebels (in their view) broke away from China and fled to Formosa (the name of Taiwan at the time). Former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Scott Gottleib, who's become a regular guest on CBS' Face the Nation, told host Margaret Brennan on Sunday that while coronavirus cases are no longer growing at an exponential rate in the United States, the country may have to prepare for "persistent spread," in which there are somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 new infections and 1,000 new deaths, per day.Gottleib didn't want to look beyond the end of June because it's too hard to predict (though he does expect a bit of reprieve later in the summer before potential flare-ups in the fall), but for now he doesn't seem optimistic that the decline will be as fast as the rise was in March. Small groups of protesters egged on by the president, along with governors in redder states, are eager to “reopen” America — as if you can turn off a pandemic by inviting people back into Hooters. But if Republicans actually want to get Americans back to work, what they have to do is simple: Get rid of Donald Trump now.While it’s almost science fiction to imagine the Republican Party and its billionaire backers growing something resembling a spine and compelling Trump to resign or, at least, not seek reelection in 2020, it’s at least a scientific possibility, unlike any hope of having a fully tested vaccine in the next few months. Lyndon Johnson decided to not run for president when the failure of the Vietnam War became undeniable. More Americans have died of COVID-19 in the last three months than perished in that war, which lasted most of two decades. And since life has decided to turn into science fiction, why shouldn’t we entertain the possibility that there is enough sense on the right to get rid of the one human being standing in the way of any hope of returning to normalcy soon? His own interests are the priorities-More than anything, we are where we are now because Trump prioritized his own interests above the well-being of the United States. And our response will always be limited by his addictions to adulation and political gain.We’ll never know what 2020 would have looked like if the most powerful man on earth hadn’t spent the beginning of this year echoing Chinese government propaganda and downplaying the threat of COVID-19.In seeming hopes of cultivating the trade deal he so desperately wanted and preserving the stock market gains he was relying on for reelection, Trump on Feb. 10 was still spreading Chinese President Xi Jinping's fiction the heat could kill off the virus. The next day, Trump attacked his own Federal Reserve chair for warning about the potential economic impact of the novel coronavirus. And later that month he raged at his own expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for saying that a COVID-19 outbreak in the United States was likely and could lead to a “disruption to everyday life.”

Sudan has criminalized the act of female genital mutilation, a historic move in a country where the United Nations says 9 out of 10 women between the ages of 15 to 49 have been subjected to the practice. But some activists warn the practice could be hard to eradicate in a country where it is so entrenched in the culture. Under the law that was passed earlier in April, any offenders will serve a punishable sentence of up to three years in prison according to The New York Times. According to the U.N. report, Sudan is one of the world's most-affected nations. The World Health Organization defines female genital mutilation (FGM) as involving "the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. The practice has no health benefits for girls and women. FGM can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths."The Sudanese Foreign Ministry has welcomed the Sudanese government's decision, saying in a statement the government "affirmed its confidence in the competence of the Sudanese institutions, its ability and professionalism to protect women, respect them and to enhance their rights in general and in particular the health and social rights. Among any group of human beings there always arises a bully. We’ve all experienced it since our days in grade school, even in kindergarten.My wife and I sometimes kept nursery and toddlers in church on Sunday mornings so that the younger parents could enjoy church service without the worry of riding herd on their little ones. I observed the same behavior among the very youngest. There was always one or two who bullied the others—took away toys or did other obnoxious things.These, of course, didn’t really think or know that they were doing anything wrong. It was just a natural, human trait.And that’s the problem. The natural thing amongst humans is the part of us that has brought forth the troubles throughout human history.The natural in this matter stems from the sin nature intrinsic to the fallen, human creation.“Progressing” up through junior high and beyond the bullying becomes more serious. It is done knowingly and with purpose. The purpose—to lord it over someone else for the bully’s own ego and sense of power and control.It becomes even more evident in the business world, as people joust and elbow to climb the ladders of success within corporate structures.Then we come to the arena of politics and government. We have witnessed this in a profound way within the last four years, in my opinion. We are seeing it even now, as far as I’m concerned, in the way the swamp-entrenched medical “experts” within Washington, DC, officialdom have caused the rest of us to completely give up our livelihoods and altered, perhaps permanently, the American way of life.These have bullied even this president, in my view. They walked into the Oval Office and extorted him with the threat of 2.2 million deaths from the coronavirus, if he didn’t shut down the nation’s close interaction.I admire Mr. Trump and believe him to be God’s man for the crucial hour so near the end of the age, as many who read our columns know. However, even such a self-confident, “Make America Great Again”president like Donald Trump is intimidated by the “experts” saying that 2.2 million Americans will likely die unless he follows their “expert” advice.Now, I sense he is realizing the mistake of listening to the veiled intimidation and is trying to finesse America’s way out of this national economic nightmare. The doctors still hold the intimidating authority, though. To me, it is obvious in the way these “authorities,” through using barely comprehensible medical jargon, step to the microphones and coyly contradict the president’s words about starting the nation back up.So the bullying continues even within this so-called pandemic.Bullying has been, of course, powerfully manifested by nations throughout history.The ancient rulers of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, Egypt, and all the rest literally beat their subjects and nations around them if those victims didn’t comply with the bully-rulers’ demands. This monstrous dictatorship from the far reaches of the Orient has, through accident or deliberate perpetration, shown itself to be clearly the leading bully on the international block.China is now seen as the prime culprit in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. They almost certainly, according to intelligence services from the UK and America, deliberately unleashed the disease after it, most likely, accidentally escaped biological laboratories near the Chinese city of Wuhan.It is thought that the dictator-leadership of China determined that since it escaped, they would keep the fact from other nations—particularly from the Western nations, so their economy wouldn’t be the only one to catastrophically suffer if and when the pandemic developed—as it did.Intelligence sources accuse Chinese President Xi Jinping of rounding up perhaps millions of coronavirus-infected Chinese people and having them murdered so that the disease wouldn’t appear to be so widespread in that country. For the second time recently, American warships have sailed through the sensitive area known as the Taiwan Strait. This is an expanse of waters that separate the tiny island nation of Taiwan from mainland communist China.The communist regimes in the mainland have always considered Taiwan to belong to China. It is an illegitimate government that rules in Taiwan, the Chinese government continues to declare, because rebels (in their view) broke away from China and fled to Formosa (the name of Taiwan at the time). Former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Scott Gottleib, who's become a regular guest on CBS' Face the Nation, told host Margaret Brennan on Sunday that while coronavirus cases are no longer growing at an exponential rate in the United States, the country may have to prepare for "persistent spread," in which there are somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 new infections and 1,000 new deaths, per day.Gottleib didn't want to look beyond the end of June because it's too hard to predict (though he does expect a bit of reprieve later in the summer before potential flare-ups in the fall), but for now he doesn't seem optimistic that the decline will be as fast as the rise was in March. Small groups of protesters egged on by the president, along with governors in redder states, are eager to “reopen” America — as if you can turn off a pandemic by inviting people back into Hooters. But if Republicans actually want to get Americans back to work, what they have to do is simple: Get rid of Donald Trump now.While it’s almost science fiction to imagine the Republican Party and its billionaire backers growing something resembling a spine and compelling Trump to resign or, at least, not seek reelection in 2020, it’s at least a scientific possibility, unlike any hope of having a fully tested vaccine in the next few months. Lyndon Johnson decided to not run for president when the failure of the Vietnam War became undeniable. More Americans have died of COVID-19 in the last three months than perished in that war, which lasted most of two decades. And since life has decided to turn into science fiction, why shouldn’t we entertain the possibility that there is enough sense on the right to get rid of the one human being standing in the way of any hope of returning to normalcy soon? His own interests are the priorities-More than anything, we are where we are now because Trump prioritized his own interests above the well-being of the United States. And our response will always be limited by his addictions to adulation and political gain.We’ll never know what 2020 would have looked like if the most powerful man on earth hadn’t spent the beginning of this year echoing Chinese government propaganda and downplaying the threat of COVID-19.In seeming hopes of cultivating the trade deal he so desperately wanted and preserving the stock market gains he was relying on for reelection, Trump on Feb. 10 was still spreading Chinese President Xi Jinping's fiction the heat could kill off the virus. The next day, Trump attacked his own Federal Reserve chair for warning about the potential economic impact of the novel coronavirus. And later that month he raged at his own expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for saying that a COVID-19 outbreak in the United States was likely and could lead to a “disruption to everyday life.”

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower is expected to peak in the early hours of Tuesday, May 5.With most people stuck inside, isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic, May's celestial events present a much-needed opportunity to connect with nature.What are the Eta Aquarids? The Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaks each year during early May as Earth passes through the debris trail from Halley's Comet (1P/Halley). The Orionids meteor shower in October also originates from this comet.The famous Halley's Comet is visible from Earth about every 76 years. It was last seen in 1986 and won't be visible again until 2061.Each year, when Earth collides with the comet's orbit, vaporizing debris comes flying into our atmosphere at a whopping 148,000 miles per hour, according to NASA, making the meteors well known for their speed. Fast meteors tend to leave glowing dust "trains" behind them, producing magnificent "shooting stars."Under normal conditions, the annual meteor shower typically produces about 30 meteors per hour. It's named for its radiant, or direction of origin, which appears to come from the constellation Aquarius.The Eta Aquarids are one of the best meteor showers of the year for people in the Southern Hemisphere because Aquarius is higher up in the sky there. To get food your name has to be on the list and, so far, despite registering multiple times, his hasn't been.Khumalo worked as a delivery man before South Africa's coronavirus lockdown decimated his income. His children used to get two meals a day at school, but schools are closed now. Every day, the kids wait for him at the family's tiny home, and every day brings the same bad news."They know that if I don't get anything for them, it's over," Khumalo tells CBS News.The coronavirus pandemic has left the world facing an unprecedented hunger crisis. The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has warned that by the end of the year, more than 260 million people will face starvation – double last year's figures."In a worst-case scenario, we could be looking at famine in about three dozen countries," warned WFP director David Beasley. He said the world could face multiple famines "of biblical proportions within a few short months."Oil prices have collapsed, tourism is drying up, and overseas remittances – foreign workers transferring money to their families in other countries – on which many people depend for survival, are expected to decline sharply.There's "a real danger that more people could potentially die from the economic impact of COVID-19 than from the virus itself," Beasley said.

Sudan has criminalized the act of female genital mutilation, a historic move in a country where the United Nations says 9 out of 10 women between the ages of 15 to 49 have been subjected to the practice. But some activists warn the practice could be hard to eradicate in a country where it is so entrenched in the culture. Under the law that was passed earlier in April, any offenders will serve a punishable sentence of up to three years in prison according to The New York Times. According to the U.N. report, Sudan is one of the world's most-affected nations. The World Health Organization defines female genital mutilation (FGM) as involving "the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. The practice has no health benefits for girls and women. FGM can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths."The Sudanese Foreign Ministry has welcomed the Sudanese government's decision, saying in a statement the government "affirmed its confidence in the competence of the Sudanese institutions, its ability and professionalism to protect women, respect them and to enhance their rights in general and in particular the health and social rights. The statement stressed that the issuance of the decision represents an important positive development, and it comes in implementation of the provisions of the constitutional document, Chapter (14) for the Rights and Freedoms, in commitment of the Sudan to the international agreements related to the protection of human rights, especially the women child's rights."However, since the practice has been a significant part of the Sudanese culture, experts and activists claim that the law is not enough to eradicate FGM entirely.Progress! #Sudan enters a new era for girls' rights with the criminalization of #FGM!
