Hundreds of patients were evacuated early Saturday from a hospital that was near collapse after a powerful magnitude 7.0 earthquake — the second major temblor in barely 24 hours —struck the southwest Japanese island of Kyushu, according to media reports.The 500-bed city hospital in Kumamoto was one of several buildings almost demolished in the quake, according to the Japanese broadcaster NHK.The broadcaster says calls were coming into first responders from a number of residents reporting people being trapped inside houses and buildings.
