Russia is modernising its S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to supply to Iran, a Russian presidential adviser told RIA news agency."It has partially been updated, separate elements are still being updated," said Vladimir Kozhin, presidential military adviser."It will be that very S-300 complex that Iran wanted to receive," reports Reuters.Kozhin did not specify a date on which the missiles will be sold to Iran.Russia cancelled a delivery of the missiles to Iran in 2010, amid sanctions imposed on Iran by six world powers in response to its alleged attempts to develop nuclear weapons.After an interim deal was reached between Iran and the US-led bloc, Russian president Vladimir Putin announced in April that a self-imposed ban on supplying Iran with the missiles would be lifted.In the wake of the announcement, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed dismay that Russia had reached the missile deal with Tehran.Israel, which opposes the nuclear deal, has previously threatened to launch air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and it is feared the missile system could be used to block air strikes.An Iranian source told Russian news agency Sputnik that "if Iran gets the S-300 system or other modern system, it will be possible to say that the sky over Iran is protected against any airstrike".

TORONTO — Employing images that invoked western capitulation to Hitler in the 1930s, punctuated with chants of “Never Again,” about 200 people gathered near the U.S. consulate in Toronto early this afternoon to express their objections to a treaty they fear will lead to the development of an Iranian nuclear bomb and an increase in terrorism.(Organizers estimated the crowd at 400 people.)“We are here to say no,” said Pastor Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College. “A generation ago, Christians were silent in the face of the massacre of the Jewish People. Christians have learned that we must not be silent again.”McVety, national chair of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), was one of several religious leaders to address the rally and voice their concerns about the recent nuclear arms treaty negotiated by the United States, several European countries and Iran.Invoking wartime British prime minister Winston Churchill’s warning that Germany should have been confronted when it was weak, McVety said “we now have a world making a similar mistake.”Joining McVety as speakers were rabbis from the Orthodox and Reform streams of Judaism, as well as a number of Christian clergymen.The event was MCed by CUFI CEO Frank Dimant. The Canadian Armed Forces will soon be getting an important upgrade to its defence capabilities when it acquires 10 sophisticated Israeli radar systems containing technology used in Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile installations.The Department of National Defence announced that it has agreed to acquire Israeli Medium Range Radar (MRR), which will be used to locate enemy weapons and provide advance aerial surveillance capability.“Much like Israel’s successful Iron Dome radar technology, the Medium Range Radar system will be able to instantly track enemy fire aimed at Canadian Armed Forces personnel and help keep them safe during operations. We’re moving forward with providing the men and women of the military with the equipment they need to do their jobs in the service of their country,” said Defence Minister Jason Kenney. Rheinmetall Canada won the contract to produce 10 MRR systems and provide in-service support. [Prime Minister] Stephen Harper has embraced Israel like no world leader before him. Russia is modernising its S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to supply to Iran, a Russian presidential adviser told RIA news agency."It has partially been updated, separate elements are still being updated," said Vladimir Kozhin, presidential military adviser."It will be that very S-300 complex that Iran wanted to receive," reports Reuters.Kozhin did not specify a date on which the missiles will be sold to Iran.Russia cancelled a delivery of the missiles to Iran in 2010, amid sanctions imposed on Iran by six world powers in response to its alleged attempts to develop nuclear weapons.After an interim deal was reached between Iran and the US-led bloc, Russian president Vladimir Putin announced in April that a self-imposed ban on supplying Iran with the missiles would be lifted.In the wake of the announcement, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed dismay that Russia had reached the missile deal with Tehran.Israel, which opposes the nuclear deal, has previously threatened to launch air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and it is feared the missile system could be used to block air strikes.An Iranian source told Russian news agency Sputnik that "if Iran gets the S-300 system or other modern system, it will be possible to say that the sky over Iran is protected against any airstrike".
