The drill was not announced to the forces in advance and is meant to simulate the suprise element that often accompanies real-time warfare.The IDF forces are rehearsing various scenarioes in Judea and Samaria, including abductions, large-scale rioting and arrests of suspects.The drill also involves sending call-up notofications to 13,000 reservists, 3,000 of whom will actually have to show up at their units and partake in the action.Judea and Samaria Division combat soldiers are taking part in all of the exercises, as are infantry nits, including special forces. Security forces are currently rehearsing and preparing for a scenario in which Israel's enemies launch a “carpet” missile attack that Iron Dome will be unable to counter, due to the sheer number of missiles involved, Arutz Sheva has learned from knowledgeable sources that wish to remain anonymous.In this scenario, up to 4,000 Israelis will be killed in the first days of the attack, which could happen as early as this summer."Iran is seeking to cover Israel with intense fire,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned in a special briefing for journalists at the week's end."In Lebanon, the Iranians are inserting the most advanced weapons in the world, and strengthening Hezbollah, so that it can hit any spot in Israel,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying in the daily Makor Rishon. “They are trying to build a second front in the Golan, and of course, in Gaza.”
'Earth-shaking shock'
Former prime minister and defense minister Ehud Barak also sounded dire warnings last week, regarding Hezbollah's ability to deal a heavy blow to Israel, and Israel's unpreparedness for this."Our rival is serious, and we have no room for smugness on any front,” he said. “We must not be smug and take our superiority as something that is self-evident and supposedly God-given. Superiority is the result of serious work. We have not really dealt with 100,000 rockets, and we have not started to deal with the matter of their accuracy. When the rockets are accurate, it is not more of the same thing. It is something completely different.”"The country has no choice but to reach conclusions,” Barak warned. “One cannot deal with this challenge by deploying in all of the places, from which [anti-missile] missiles can be fired. These things are very expensive: Iron Dome and Magic Wand, Arrow and Super-Arrow are expensive projects."One cannot exaggerate the importance of safeguarding security,” he added, “and one cannot exaggerate the earth-shaking shock that can take place when it turns out that we did not prepare and we did not understand the urgency and practicality of challenges of this sort, and the need to translate clear thought to conclusions, and we will find ourselves [in a situation where] citizens suddenly discover that one cannot walk slowly and lackadaisically to the bomb shelters, knowing that nothing can happen, as we did in during Operation Protective Edge. These things must be done now, we must not wait.”

The new IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, wasted no time in making his presence felt – and has launched a huge-scale exercise that includes most of the IDF's compulsory-service corps, making it the largest the IDF has held in recent years. The drill was not announced to the forces in advance and is meant to simulate the suprise element that often accompanies real-time warfare.The IDF forces are rehearsing various scenarioes in Judea and Samaria, including abductions, large-scale rioting and arrests of suspects.The drill also involves sending call-up notofications to 13,000 reservists, 3,000 of whom will actually have to show up at their units and partake in the action.Judea and Samaria Division combat soldiers are taking part in all of the exercises, as are infantry nits, including special forces. In addition, aerial units, intelligence units and the Israel Security Agency (ISA, or Shin Bet) are taking part.The IDF Spokesman said that the exercise does not indicate any special security alert in Judea and Samaria.

"Let it be clear - this hypocrisy which pervades the world will not tie our hands for defending the citizens of Israel," he warned. "So we have acted before and continue to act." One rocket struck a field outside Ashkelon on Saturday night, causing no injuries or damage. A Salafist group from within Gaza claimed responsibility for the attack.The IAF retaliated overnight Saturday/Sunday by eliminating several terror targets.

The attack came in retaliation for the rocket fire on southern Israel on Wednesday evening, the statement said.In response to two rockets fired from Gaza on Wednesday night, top defense officials vowed the IDF would do whatever was needed to defend the south."We will not tolerate attacks on our civilians," Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon stressed on Thursday morning, with Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan echoing these comments later in the day.If only that were the case, Struk opined.“The terrorists know that when they fire a rocket we will respond with an air attack on empty buildings. Israeli aircraft attacked a terrorist infrastructure in northern Gaza overnight Saturday, in retaliation for a rocket attack on Ashkelon several hours earlier, the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement.In addition, following several rocket attacks in recent days, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon has decided to close the Erez and Kerem Shalom border crossings between Gaza and Israel, the statement said.The crossings will only be opened in humanitarian cases, and the decision on the opening of the crossings will be made on the basis of a security assessment and in accordance with security considerations.“The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible” for the continuous rocket attacks on southern Israel, said the IDF statement.
One rocket fired from Gaza struck an open area outside Ashkelon on Saturday night, after sirens sounded in the Ashkelon area, the Lachish region and the Hof Ashkelon area.Several explosions were also heard in the area. No injuries or damage were reported.Saturday evening’s rocket attack is the latest in several attacks from Gaza in recent days. On Wednesday evening, two rockets from Gaza exploded in the Sdot Negev region. There were no physical injuries or damages.Wednesday’s attack came just one week after terrorists from Gaza fired a Grad rocket towards southern Israel. The rocket exploded near the community of Gan Yavneh, near Ashdod. There were no injuries.Due to the numerous rocket attacks, the IDF deployed Iron Dome batteries to the Ashkelon, Ashdod and Netivot areas on Friday.

Twelve year-old terror victim Ayala Shapira ascended the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Sunday morning, in honor of her bat mitzvah, a ceremony signifying her coming of age and taking responsibility for her own observance of the Jewish commandments.Shapira stated in her first public interview in March that it was her dream to ascend the Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, in honor of the special day.The then eleven year-old was critically burned in a firebomb attack by Arab terrorists on the family car she was in with her father outside Ma'ale Shomron in Samaria late last December. The attack left her suffering from severe burns to 40% of her face and upper body.After a lengthy stay at the Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center's burn unit, she is now in a children's ward at the hospital as she continues her road to recovery.The public is asked to continue praying for the full recovery of Ayelet bat Rut.
