Netanyahu: Israel Facing an Attack on its Right to Exist-Prime Minister directly addresses unprecedented personal attack by US officials, vows to 'continue defending Israel.'By Ari Soffer
First Publish: 10/29/2014, 1:11 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has responded directly to personal attacks made against him by "senior US officials" in a report published Tuesday evening.Speaking at a special Knesset session marking 13 years since the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehava'am Ze'evi (also known by his nickname "Ghandi") by Palestinian terrorists, Netanyahu began by addressing the comments, in which an Obama administration official referred to him as "chickens**t", as well as concerns over an unprecedented crisis in US-Israel relations."When there is pressure on Israel to give up on its security the easiest thing is to give up," he said. "As prime minister I stand for the security of Israel. The life of every single citizen and soldier matters to me, and I am not prepared to make compromises that will endanger our country.""Our interests are not on the minds of those who attack us or me personally," he emphasized. "The attack on me comes because I defend the State of Israel, and despite all the attacks I will continue to defend our country and the citizens of Israel."The PM added that despite claims to the contrary relations with Washington were still going strong."I respect and value our relations with the United States. The strategic alliance between the countries continues and will continue," he said.Addressing those present - including members of Ze'evi's family - Netanyahu related to the existential challenges faced by the State of Israel, and issued a veiled dismissal of accusations that Israeli construction for Jews in Jerusalem is somehow the main impediment to a peace agreement."Israel faces an attack against its right to exist. There are those who dispute the relationship between the people of Israel and its land. There are those who are not ready to (accept) the right of our nation to its own nation-state. This was, and will always be, the root of the conflict."The PM also remark on the irony of "those who accuse the soldiers of the IDF of war crimes, at a time when we are defending ourselves with unparalleled morality."He noted that Ze'evi himself had always been quick to jump to the defense of the IDF, and had noted that "the IDF is the only army in history to conquer the Temple Mount and not destroy the places of worship there."

Rocket Fired from Gaza Towards Eshkol Region-IDF tracking systems detect rocket fire from Gaza towards Eshkol. Rocket likely exploded in Gaza.By Elad Benari, Canada-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 10:22 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

A rocket from Gaza was fired on Friday night towards the Eshkol region in southern Israel. The rocket was detected by the IDF’s tracking system. It exploded in an open region, likely within Gaza and not in Israeli territory, and for this reason the “red alert” rocket siren was not heard. There were no reports of physical injuries or damages.Friday’s incident marks the second time since the end of last summer’s Operation Protective Edge that Gaza terrorists have attempted rocket fire towards Israel.Last month, a mortar attack was launched by Gazan terrorists against southern Israel, in breach of a ceasefire signed in August. Hamas, which breached numerous ceasefires during the operation, denied responsibility for the attack and later announced it had arrested the perpetrators. The sides were supposed to resume Egyptian mediated talks on a permanent ceasefire, but Egypt announced this week that the talks would be postponed until mid-November.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Ambassadors Warn US-Israel Ties Are on the Brink of Collapse-Israeli ambassadors and US source reveal Netanyahu-Obama 'loathing' has led 'gloves to not only be removed - but thrown in the trash.'By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/29/2014, 11:49 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

A media storm over a "crisis in US-Israel relations" was generated following a Tuesday report that a senior official in US President Barack Obama's administration called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "chickens**t" - and according to former Israeli ambassadors to America, its just the latest in an unprecedented crisis in relations.Prof. Itamar Rabinovich, who served as ambassador between 1992 and 1996, told Walla! Wednesday relations have never been this bad before, commenting "the two sides haven't just taken off the gloves - they threw them in the trash.""Crises between us and the United States in the past mostly stemmed from concentrated pressure on a certain issue: (Dwight) Eisenhower forced (David) Ben-Gurion to retreat from Sinai in 1956, (Gerald) Ford pressed (Yitzhak) Rabin on the issue of Egypt in 1975," recounted Rabinovich."However, today there is a combination of a string of disagreements, practically on every meaningful issue in the region, and very awful personal relations between the leaders," he added, noting "it's unprecedented."While he criticized the Obama administration for its numerous failures in foreign policy, Rabinovich also took Netanyahu to task for not succeeding in maintaining working relations with the American government. The collapse in ties has great implications according to Rabinovich, who said about Operation Protective Edge "we saw during the last war in Gaza two ostensibly clerical decisions that caused damage to Israel."Those decisions included "the cancellation of flights to Ben Gurion International Airport and the delay of a Hellfire missile transfer. The 'clerics' in Washington know to read the direction of the wind and make manipulations according to the administration's policy."That damage has only continued according to Rabinovich, who added "when the defense minister (Moshe Ya'alon) arrives in Washington and the administration leaks that they aren't ready to meet with him, in the end that influences."

"This personal loathing is unprecedented"

Joining Rabinovich's assessment was Danny Ayalon, ambassador to America from 2002 to 2006, who likewise told Walla! the diplomatic schism is unprecedented."In terms of the personal relations between the prime minister and the president, which is supremely important, there has never been something like this," stated Ayalon."What we are seeing between Netanyahu and Obama - personal loathing, scorn, ugly leaks of one against the other - these are things we never knew in the past," added the former ambassador.Ayalon noted that the situation is odd given that intelligence and security cooperation continues between the two countries, "but between the leaders there's a complete lack of confidence. That's a problem because there are times when the confidence between leaders is the most important thing."An unnamed senior minister in Jerusalem told the Hebrew-language paper "there have been very serious disagreements throughout the years, but there was never the kind of disgust between the president of the United States and the prime minister of Israel as there is today between Netanyahu and Obama."

"Obama has abandoned allies for Iran"

Michael Doran, who served as a Middle East expert on the National Security Council under former US President George W. Bush, also spoke to Walla! about the recent events."The crisis in Israel-United States relations must been seen in a wider context," said Doran. "Obama lost the confidence of all the traditional American allies in the region.""Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey: all of them are experiencing historic difficulties in their relations with Washington. Why? Because Obama abandoned the defense of the traditional system of alliances in favor of relations with an enemy in defending Iran," said Doran. The regional expert continued: "if the Obama administration had obligated itself to stopping the Iranian nuclear program, it would have used its allies in the same way (Iranian President Hassan) Rouhani is using extremists in Tehran. Obama could have told the Iranians 'listen, there's a crazy guy in Jerusalem who I have no control over, so you should reach a deal, and quickly.'""Instead of that, he is doing the complete opposite. He is ignoring Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Iranians read his weakness and are manipulating it," warned Doran. The assessment comes a day after American and Arab officials revealed to the Wall Street Journal that Obama's administration is cozying up to Iran and its terror proxies Hamas and Hezbollah, through such means as secretive communication channels and providing intelligence information. As ties with America have continued to go southward, Israel has constantly been looking eastward and building new alliances, seen in strong military ties with India, and budding relations with Japan and China.

Kerry Apologizes to Netanyahu for 'Chickens**t' Comments-Secretary of State clarifies to Netanyahu that the "chickens**t" comments do not reflect the position of the American government.By Elad Benari, Canada-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 8:25 PM- ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday phoned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and apologized for the harsh comments about him that were published this week in The Atlantic.During the conversation, Kerry made clear to Netanyahu that the remarks do not reflect the position of the American government. U.S. officials said the conversation was held in a positive atmosphere. The comments, which were attributed by Jeffrey Goldberg to unnamed officials in the Obama administration, were made up of a series of derogatory names and insults directed at Netanyahu, including descriptions such as “chickens**t” and “Aspergery”.The comments in The Atlantic raised the ire of Israeli officials as well as of Republicans. On Thursday, Kerry publicly condemned the comments, saying they were "disgraceful, unacceptable and damaging."He claimed the comments did not reflect the views of President Barack Obama or his cabinet. The White House also distanced itself from the comments earlier this week, with a spokesman for the National Security Council saying, "Certainly that's not the Administration's view, and we think such comments are inappropriate and counter-productive."(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. US Officials Say Obama May Replace Kerry-Senators and White House officials reveal Obama may get rid of Kerry and Hagel; Kerry 'untethered from the White House' like an astronaut.By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 8:24 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
US President Barack Obama's administration is coping with underwhelming performance on various fronts according to officials cited in the New York Times on Friday, who suggested he may replace some senior administration officials - including US Secretary of State John Kerry."There is an inflection point in every presidency, and this certainly is a logical one, if the president feels he might be better served by some replacements on his team,” Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told the paper.Citing the Ebola crisis in Africa that has spread to a few isolated cases in America under Obama's watch, the rise of Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists in Iraq and Syria, and tensions in Europe between Russia and Ukraine, the paper noted world events have already led Obama to make changes by bringing in Ron Klain to manage Ebola and Gen. John R. Allen to lead the coalition against ISIS.According to the New York Times, Kerry and US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel "are struggling to penetrate the tightly knit circle around the president and carve out a place in the administration."White House officials cited in the report said Kerry is out of sync with the administration, even comparing him to Sandra Bullock's role in the movie "Gravity" as an astronaut somersaulting through space, "untethered from the White House."With Obama's backing Kerry has tried to force through peace talks on Israel on numerous occasions, even after his last attempt was torpedoed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in April when it signed a unity agreement with the terrorist organization Hamas - Kerry nevertheless blamed Israel for the collapse. He has made several antagonistic statements against Israel, such as attributing the failure of "peace" in Israel for the rise of ISIS recruitment this month, and also reportedly orchestrating European boycott threats and threatening an intifada during the last round of talks.Hagel for his part was seen by officials as not saying much in policy meetings, with US Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Martin E. Dempsey taking more of a dominant role, leading to speculation that Hagel may not be long for the White House either.

Kerry to Meet Chief PA Negotiator-Secretary of State John Kerry to meet Saeb Erekat to discuss how to advance the frozen peace process.By Ben Ariel, Canada-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 10:54 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Amid tense ties between Israel and the United States, Secretary of State John Kerry will meet the chief Palestinian Authority (PA) negotiator Monday to discuss how to advance the frozen peace process, AFP reported on Friday.Kerry will welcome a Palestinian Arab delegation, led by Saeb Erekat, to the State Department for discussions on "the way forward" in a Middle East peace deal and the situation in the Gaza Strip, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters.Kerry would also discuss "lowering tensions in Jerusalem" with the Palestinian team, Psaki said, according to AFP.Since being appointed to his position, Kerry has tried to lure Israel and the PA back to the negotiating table in pursuit of a peace agreement.Kerry was able to force the sides into a six-month negotiation period, but the PA torpedoed those talks by requesting to join 15 international agencies in breach of the conditions of the negotiations.Lately, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has been promoting a unilateral move at the United Nations, as he plans to ask the Security Council to set a timetable to “end the Israeli occupation” and force Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria.Fatah leader Nabil Shaath recently threatened Israel with a “political war” if there is a negative response to Abbas’s steps at the United Nations. Abbas himself has threatened to cut ties with Israel if his latest unilateral move at the UN fails. The announcement of Kerry’s meeting with the PA team comes amid tensions between Jerusalem and Washington over Israeli building in Jerusalem, which the U.S. has condemned. This week, The Atlantic quoted anonymous officials in the Obama administration who launched an unprecedented attack on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and called him - among other things - “chickens**t” and “Aspergery”.The comments caused an uproar and Kerry on Friday phoned Netanyahu to apologize.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Abbas to Kerry: Stop Israel's 'Escalation'-PA Chairman blames Israel for the ongoing tensions in Jerusalem, says it will cause more violence and extremism in the region.By Ben Ariel, Canada
First Publish: 10/31/2014, 9:52 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Friday blamed Israel for the ongoing tensions in Jerusalem.Abbas, who spoke with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, said that the “Israeli escalation” is dangerous and must be stopped. He further told Kerry that Israel's actions will only lead to “the expansion of the circle of violence and extremism in the region.”The conversation between Abbas and Kerry was held one day after the Fatah faction, led by Abbas, called for a "day of rage" in response to Israel’s closure of the Temple Mount to Muslims, which was quickly reversed in any case following international pressure.Abbas's group lost no time in praising the Arab terrorist who tried to assassinate Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick in Jerusalem on Wednesday.Fatah on its official Facebook page slandered Glick, who has struggled for Jewish prayer rights on the Temple Mount, as an "extremist Zionist," and further called the terror attack "the assassination of the despicable Glick," while praising the terrorist Mu'taz Hijazi who was later eliminated as a "heroic martyr."Abbas himself declared that Israel's closure of the Temple Mount following Glick’s is tantamount to a "declaration of war."Two weeks ago, Abbas called for Palestinian Arabs to stop Jews from ascending the Temple Mount - Judaism's holiest site - "by all means."(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. 12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.
15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

Shaked: Allow Jews to Pray on the Temple Mount-Jewish Home MK calls on the Prime Minister to sign new regulations allowing Jews to pray on the Temple Mount.By Benny Toker-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 12:13 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

MK Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) on Thursday called on the government to announce new regulations regarding Jewish prayers on the Temple Mount, as a response to the shooting of leading Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick.Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Shaked said that Glick is an example of a human rights activist who conducts himself in a democratic manner, and criticized many of the leading Israeli media outlets that chose to describe Glick as an “extremist right-wing activist”."Yehuda would always ascend the Temple Mount without provocation. I hope the police will come around and let him hold tours on the Temple Mount, and that the Prime Minister will come to his senses and approve the regulations on visiting times to the Temple Mount, so that the Jews can continue to visit and pray there,” she said.Shaked added that there is no need to change the law in order to do this, but only to sign regulations already drafted by the Deputy Minister of Religious Services Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan."The Prime Minister should just apply the sovereignty over Jerusalem which today, unfortunately, is being abandoned, and should, together with the Minister of Justice, sign these regulations,” she said."It is true that previous governments have made mistakes," added Shaked, ''but the situation is not irreversible and we should find the right balance and allow everyone to enter the Temple Mount.”Early Thursday morning, security forces killed an Islamic Jihad terrorist, 32-year-old Mu'taz Hijazi of Abu Tor in Jerusalem, who was the prime suspect in Glick’s shooting.According to one report, the forces tried to arrest the suspect, but were forced to shoot him after he retaliated violently.Glick - who founded and heads the LIBA Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount  was shot in the chest outside the Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, after the shooter pulled up in a motorcycle or scooter and confirmed his identity before shooting. He had been speaking, minutes before being shot, at an event for Jewish rights on the Temple Mount that had hosted leading religious figures and MKs. Doctors at the Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem on Friday updated Arutz Sheva about the status of Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick, who was shot by an Arab terrorist in the capital on Wednesday night.Dr. Ofer Merin, deputy director of the hospital and director of its trauma clinic, explained how Glick's condition has stabilized over the last two days of treatment, and that he is currently undergoing a surgery to remove part of his intestine.According to the doctor, Glick will undergo another surgery, the third so far, next Tuesday."He has very serious wounds, I hope these things will work out by the middle of next week," predicted Merin. "As times passes the danger decreases, he has great luck.""The four bullets that punctured his body passed right by critical points, there was a hit on the lungs, a hit next to the spinal column, but damage was not inflicted on the spine," said Merin. The doctor added that Glick is expected to be left with minimal disabilities from the assassination attempt."He apparently will be able to return to an almost fully normal lifestyle, but we aren't trying to jump to conclusions now," concluded Merin.Reports earlier on Friday indicated Glick's condition had improved slightly overnight after he became more stable the night before, following surgeries removing part of his lung.Islamic Jihad terrorist Mu'taz Hijazi shot Glick on Wednesday night as he left the Begin Heritage Center where he had spoken about the discrimination against Jewish prayer rights at the Temple Mount. Hijazi, who despite 11 years in jail for terrorism was employed by a restaurant at the Center, was later killed in a shootout with police.Palestinian Authority (PA) Minister of Prisoner Affairs Issa Qaraqa on Thursday praised the terrorist as a "hero" who "defended freedom and dignity," an ironic statement given his shooting of a prayer rights activist.

Jordan Must Internalize Temple Mount is Under Israeli Control'-MK Uri Ariel responds to Jordan's threat to revoke peace treaty by reminding them of Six Day War and King's Hussein's dependence on Israel.By Hezki Ezra, Cynthia Blank-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 2:55 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) responded to the Jordanian government's threat to revoke the 1994 peace agreement with Israel, due to controversy over the Temple Mount.Israel temporarily closed the Mount to both Jewish and Muslim worshippers on Thursday, in an attempt to calm tensions.Jordan has been threatening to nullify the peace treaty at various times for months. In February, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Nsur threatened to pull the treaty if the Knesset were to continue advancing a bill to allow Jews to pray on the Mount. Jordan has also been pushing in the UN Security Council to advance the Palestinian Authority's demand for Israeli withdrawals through unilateral moves."I hear the Jordanians are threatening the peace agreement and wonder if they have forgotten the Six Day War and the years in which King Hussein leaned on Israel. The Temple Mount and Jerusalem are under Israeli sovereignty just as Amman is under the absolute rule of Jordan. They should internalize this fact," Ariel wrote. In the aftermath of recent events, US Secretary of State, John Kerry issued a statement calling on all parties to exercise restraint in regard to recent incidents of violence in the Israeli capital."It is critical that the parties will act with restraint and avoid provocative statement," Kerry said, adding that maintaining the historical status quo on the Temple Mount is of utmost importance."The continued commitment by Israelis, Palestinians, and Jordanians to preserve the historic status quo at this holy site is critical; any decisions or actions to change it would be both provocative and dangerous.”In his statement, Kerry also denounced the assassination attempt of Yehuda Glick, who holds both US and Israeli citizenship, adding that his thoughts and prayers are with Glick's family.

Jordan Threatens to Revoke Peace Treaty Over Temple Mount-Jordanian minister blames Netanyahu for 'not keeping promise' of discriminatory status quo on Temple Mount, drafts plan against 'breaches.'-By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 12:09 PM- ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS

Jordan's government has threatened to revoke its 1994 peace treaty with Israel after the Temple Mount was temporarily closed to both Jews and Muslims on Thursday, in an attempt to calm tensions after an Arab terrorist shot Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick.Mohammed Al-Momani, Jordan's Minister of Media Affairs and Communications and spokesperson for the Jordanian government, said the peace treaty is "under threat" if Israel continues "breaching" the status of the Temple Mount, Arabic-language Sky News reported, as cited by Yedioth Aharonoth. He also threatened that Jordan had put together a plan to oppose the Israeli "breaches" on the Temple Mount and eastern Jerusalem. The Jordanian minister criticized how Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu folded to Jordanian pressure and said he would keep the discriminatory status quo of the Temple Mount, but nevertheless closed the site on Thursday. The closure on Thursday has already led Jordan to call Israel a "terrorist state," and despite the threat of riots and violence, police folded to the international pressure from Jordan, the US and other sources and allowed limited access on Friday - for Muslims only. This is far from the first time Jordan has threatened to revoke the peace treaty.Back in February, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Nsur threatened to pull the treaty if the Knesset were to continue advancing a bill to allow Jews to pray on the Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, where the Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) has forbidden such prayer. It isn't even the first time this week Jordan has made such a threat, as Jordan's ambassador to Israel Walid Obeidat on Sunday threatened the agreement was in danger after indications that Netanyahu might lift his covert freeze on Jewish building in Judea and Samaria.Under Jordan's auspices, the Temple Mount has been the scene of anti-Semitic graffiti, the destruction of Jewish artifacts, and constant violent Arab rioting, which Jordan has condemned Israel for trying to stop.
Jordan has also been pushing in the UN Security Council to advance the Palestinian Authority's (PA) "diplomatic war" demanding Israeli withdrawals through unilateral moves.

Haniyeh: We'll Fight Israel Over Temple Mount-Hamas leader threatens to fight Israel and not allow it to do as it pleases on the Temple Mount.By Ben Ariel, Canada-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 9:08 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Friday declared that his organization will fight Israel and will not allow it to do as it pleases on the Temple Mount.According to Channel 2 News, Haniyeh took part in a mass protest in Gaza, part of a “day of rage” that was called for by Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. While the “day of rage” mostly fizzled in Jerusalem, it was in full force in Gaza.Haniyah claimed during the protest that Israel’s closure of the Temple Mount, which was quickly reversed following international pressure, was part of an Israeli plan to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque.“The Israeli enemy is entering a very dangerous phase in carrying out its tasks towards the sacred mosque,” he said, according to Channel 2."They plan to assign different prayer times for Jews and Arabs and think seriously about destroying the holy mosque by building underground tunnels beneath it," continued Haniyah and threatened, “We, the Palestinian people, will not give up and fight for our holy places in Jerusalem.”The Jordanian Waqf keeps an iron fist on the Temple Mount and its activities; Jews face constant discrimination and violence for visiting the site, and there is a blanket ban on Jewish prayer there.Muslims and Christians, however, have free reign to worship at and visit the Mount - the IDF even allowed 500 Gazans to ascend to the Mount as a "gesture" during peace talks with Hamas in Cairo - and the Jerusalem Arab community recently celebrated the Eid al-Adha holiday there on the same day as Yom Kippur. In addition to imposing restrictions on Jews, the Waqf also consistently destroys Jewish antiquities on the compound in a direct violation of a ruling by the Supreme Court.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Battle on the Mount: 3000 More Officers Deployed to Jerusalem-Hours after the funeral of terrorist Mu'taz Hijazi, police prep for Friday prayers on Temple Mount and likely riots around Jerusalem.By Cynthia Blank-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 7:51 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

About 3,000 police and Border Patrol officers were deployed to Jerusalem starting early Thursday morning, with most being placed in eastern parts of the city that seen seen most of the violence in past weeks, over concerns that Arab riots will continue to rage in the capital.Police will also bolster their presence around the Old City alleys and near the Western Wall. The concern of riots follows the funeral of terrorist Mu'taz Hijazi, would-be assassin of Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick, which was held in the late hours of Thursday night. Glick, who founded and heads the LIBA Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount, was shot outside of Jerusalem's Begin Center on Wednesday night. He was rushed to Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in critical condition, where his condition has continued to improve after several surgeries.Hijazi's funeral took place in the neighborhood of Shiloah (Silwan) in eastern Jerusalem, despite the threat of riots. It was attended by 45 family members only and was under heavy security. The funeral ended relatively quietly with the dispersion of the participants.Hours later, police are standing by on red alert because of the prayer services to be held on the Temple Mount. While the Mount was closed to both Jews and Muslims on Thursday, Jerusalem District Commander Moshe (Chico) Edri bowed to international pressure to re-open the Mount to Muslims on Friday. However, after the Jerusalem police received intelligence about the intentions of young Arabs to riot at the end of Friday's prayers, Edri decided than only men over the age of 50 will be able to pray on the Temple Mount. Women of any age are also allowed to enter.

Preparing for the "day of rage"

Leading to the heightened alert on Friday is that fact that on Thursday, Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction called for an official "day of rage" in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria, while praising the assassination attempt on Glick. The official website of the recruitment department of Fatah expressed outrage at the killing of the terrorist, which they say is "illegal assassination" by Israeli security forces. Hijazi was killed in a shootout with police, as he tried to resist arrest.Fatah Secretary-General in Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, told the Palestinian Arab Ma'an News Agency that the police's killing of Hijazi, without offering him the possibility to defend himself against evidence, is "an act of terrorism."

Netanyahu Slams International 'Hypocrisy' over Glick Shooting-PM calls out world silence over Abbas's incitement; orders police reinforcements but says Temple Mount status-quo to remain
By Tova Dvorin-First Publish: 10/30/2014, 12:32 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has issued a public response to the attempt on Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick's life Thursday, calling out the international community and the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the process for "hypocrisy" regarding incitement."I would like to send my best wishes for a full and quick recovery to Yehuda Glick, who is now fighting for his life," Netanyahu began. "I would also like to commend the ISA and the Israel Police for quickly solving this act of terrorism."Glick - who founded and heads the LIBA Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount - was shot in the chest on Wednesday night outside the Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, after the shooter pulled up in a motorcycle or scooter and confirmed his identity before shooting. He had been speaking, minutes before being shot, at an event for Jewish rights on the Temple Mount that had hosted leading religious figures and MKs. Likud MK Moshe Feiglin with with Glick as he was shot.

'The international community needs to stop its hypocrisy'

Netanyahu then turned to the international community, which has remained silent after the shooting and in the face of a major upswing in violence in the capital over the past several months."A few days ago, I said that we were facing a wave of incitement by radical Islamic elements and by Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas - ed.] who said that Jews must be prevented from going up to the Temple Mount by any means possible," he continued."I still have not heard from the international community so much as one word of condemnation for these inflammatory remarks. The international community needs to stop its hypocrisy and take action against inciters, against those who try to change the status quo."Abbas stated, minutes before Netanyahu spoke, that closing the Temple Mount Thursday following the attack was a "declaration of war." Two weeks ago, Abbas called for Palestinian Arabs to stop Jews from ascending the Temple Mount - Judaism's holiest site - "by all means.""It is not enough to say the settlers came, but they must be barred from entering the compound by any means. This is our Aqsa... and they have no right to enter it and desecrate it," Abbas said, calling the Jews "a herd of cattle."Abbas's remarks were roundly condemned by Israeli officials as clear incitement to violence, sparking new rounds of lawlessness in an already-tense situation in Jerusalem.Netanyahu, specifically, had called out Abbas on the statements, after Hamas terrorist Abdelrahman Shaludeh rammed his car into a pedestrian walkway just a few days later, killing a three month-old baby girl and a seminary student and wounding 7 others.

Stepping up security

The prime minister added that he has stepped up security reinforcements throughout Jerusalem."I have ordered significant reinforcements so that we can maintain both security in Jerusalem and the status quo in the holy places," he said. "This struggle might be long, and here, like in other struggles, we must first of all, lower the flames.""No side should take the law into its own hands," he concluded. "We must be level-headed and act with determination and responsibility, and so we shall."Earlier Thursday, Israeli Special Forces (Yamam) eliminated 32 year-old Islamic Jihad terrorist Mu’taz Hijazi of Abu Tor in East Jerusalem, the prime suspect in the shooting, after he resisted arrest. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack shortly thereafter, saying it was "vengeance for what is going on in Jerusalem," referring to police efforts to tackle ongoing Arab rioting.Terror attacks in Jerusalem have swelled from 200 attacks to 5,000 monthly since July, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat revealed earlier this week.Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar declared the attacks a "third intifada" on Saturday, and called on Palestinian Arabs to join.Several of the biggest attacks recently, including the Jerusalem light rail attack and the shooting, have been claimed by terror organizations to be "in response to the war on Palestinians in Jerusalem."

Orthodox Service Raises Storm Calling Women to Torah-Community in Shoham starts having female congregants read from Torah, as rabbis and locals note 'this opposes Jewish law.'By Nir Har-Zahav, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 10:06 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

An Orthodox Jewish minyan (prayer quorum of ten men) in Shoham, located just east of Ben Gurion International Airport, has raised controversy by allowing women to be called to and read from the Torah starting this Shabbat.According to the report in Israel Hayom, the minyan is named Nachat Ruach and meets in a hall at the city's retirement home, where women have taken an active part in the prayer service. The service has maintained a mechitza partition between male and female worshippers. It has now been decided that women congregants will also be called to the Torah and read from it, despite Jewish tradition that opposes such practice for several reasons.Among a number of other reasons, women reciting the blessings over the Torah reading directly contravenes Jewish law, which mandates that such blessings can only be made by someone fulfilling a Torah obligation; since women are exempt from the time-bound obligation of reading from the Torah, the blessings are recited in vain which is strictly forbidden.Chen, one of those opposing the congregation's decision, said "it goes against Halakha (Jewish law), can create an erosion (of Jewish practice) and is troubling. This isn't religious Zionism."Likewise the city's chief rabbi, Rabbi David Stav, said "it's against Halakha." Rabbi Stav also heads the Tzohar rabbinical institute. One of the organizers of the minyan defending the move, however saying: "it's a loaded issue, like every issue related to women in Judaism. ...We are doing everything according to Halakha...today religious women are the CEOs of banks and companies, and only in the synagogue they have no place. ...With us they find their place more."
Jewish traditionalists have argued that the "place" of women in the synagogue is not lacking, even with the fact that it isn't required to complete a minyan and doesn't include a formal role in the service.

Arab Rioters Vow: 'It's an Intifada, We Won't Be Stopped'-Arabs in Jerusalem attacking Jews on a regular basis reveal 'no peaceful solutions' exist, and jail time will not check their violence.By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/31/2014, 9:21 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

What is going on in the head of a young Arab rioter engaged in the "silent intifada" of terror attacks against Jews in Jerusalem? That's the question AFP apparently sought to answer in a series of interviews with Arab terrorists in the capital city.Hisham, a fourteen-year-old rioter born around the start of the Second Intifada, "dreams of a new uprising" according to the news source. Ironically, it has been noted Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas recently echoed calls for that 2000 intifada by encouraging terror using the Temple Mount as a trigger."All the young people go in and out of prison on a regular basis," revealed Hisham, speaking about the rampant lawlessness and violence permeating the Arab population of Jerusalem. There are roughly 230,000 Arabs in the eastern part of Jerusalem, and around 200,000 Jews.Hisham recently was recently in jail for a week, his first and likely not last arrest, for his part in the violent riots attacking police in the capital. But jail time is not enough to stop the Arab rioters, AFP found.Mohammed (20) told them after his recent four month stint behind bars for his role in the violence that he would not be stopped from returning to terrorism.

"It's an intifada, there are no peaceful solutions"

"There's no peace in Jerusalem. It's an intifada," Mohammed declared. "I'm ready to go back and confront the Israeli soldiers. I can't bear seeing settlers on the (Al-Aqsa) mosque compound, when Muslims aren't allowed in."The rioter apparently was incorrectly referring to the closure of the Temple Mount on Thursday, which in fact applied to both Jews and Muslims following the assassination attempt on Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick. However, Muslims reportedly were let on the site where they promptly proceeded to riot, something that has become an epidemic at the site.Police folded to international pressure on Thursday night and let the site reopen on Friday - for Muslims only - but only for men over the age of 50 and all women. Meanwhile Jews have been forbidden from praying at the site by the Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) which still enjoys de facto control of the Mount.Backing Mohammed's assessment was Salah, a 23-year-old resident of the Issawiya neighborhood that has been a hotbed of terrorism.Salah does "not believe in dialogue or peaceful solutions." He further said "Israel wants to kick Palestinians out of Jerusalem. It's a religious, demographic conflict and they attack houses and now Al-Aqsa."Despite the clear statement from the street that there are no "peaceful solutions," US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday called for a return to peace talks after his last attempt was torpedoed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in April, and went on to demand Israel open access to the Temple Mount for Muslims.

A 'Unique' Year of Religion and State in Israel-Rabbi Stav of the Tzohar organization tells Arutz Sheva about weighty religious bills and thirst for Jewish identity in Israel.By Yoni Kempinski, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 9/29/2014, 9:51 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Arutz Sheva spoke with Rabbi David Stav, a prominent religious-Zionist rabbi and head of the Tzohar rabbinic institute, ahead of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah), about how the Jewish state has developed in the past year.According to the rabbi, last year was a "unique" one in terms of religion and state thanks in part to a bill that his Tzohar organization passed in the Knesst, which "enables a couple to get registered (for marriage) wherever they want to."The bill "contributes to competition between local rabbinates" and attracts more Jews to religious weddings, according to Rabbi Stav. Some notable rabbis disagreed, explaining that rabbis far from the couple's hometown might not be able to thoroughly check information to confirm their eligibility to wed according to Jewish law.Rabbi Stav added that his organization is working on another bill to make a similar change for the process of Jewish conversion, letting each rabbi establish a rabbinic court for conversion in the city. He noted that this goal has yet to be accomplished. That bill also has been questioned, with Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi David Lau warning earlier in the month that he had been told by rabbis in the UK that world rabbis will not be able to accept Israeli converts if the bill is passed, due to concerns that the Chief Rabbinate will not be able to confirm the uniform validity of conversions.

A thirst for Jewish identity

Aside from the various bills, Rabbi Stav spoke about the changes in Israel wrought in the course of the last year, in which Operation Protective Edge revealed an almost unprecedented level of unity among the Jewish people."We saw how deep is the thirst for Jewish identity, how deep is the connection between the general Israeli society to G-d, to religious rituals," said the rabbi. However, he noted that "on the other hand more and more Israelis unfortunately feel themselves to be far away from Judaism." According to the rabbi, the answer is to "expose them to Judaism that doesn't impose on them anything but suggests to them something they are not aware of."Alongside a shocking rise in global anti-Semitism, Rabbi Stav said Jews in the diaspora increasingly have been seen as caring less about Israel, at least publicly, and feeling that they could survive without the Jewish state."But that's not the truth," remarked the rabbi, arguing the physical and spiritual future of these Jews' children depends on Israel.
