One hundred officers in the IDF reserves, including battalion and company commanders, have sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is which they express their full confidence in the IDF and the government, and their opposition to calls for refusal of orders. The letter's initiators, Capt. (res.) Raz Levy and Capt. (res.) Aviel Siman Tov, say that the letter was written in response to the letter by 400 academicians, who called on IAF pilots to refuse orders in case they are instructed to attack Iran.
"We, 100 IDF officers in the reserves, in the Air Force, Navy and ground forces, hereby state that we will follow any order we are given and carry out any mission we are sent to by the military and civilian command," the letter to Netanyahu says."It is a well known and clear fact that our very participation in military service is an expression of the trust we place in the system. However, we feel that these days, there is a need to clarify even the obvious. "We decided to write this letter following the initiative calling upon Air Force pilots to refuse an order if one is given, and in order to inform you and the public that the IDF's reserve array has been and still is a strong support for the nation in Israel. "We strongly denounce any kind of call to refuse an order and breach the solidarity, as well as the social and national responsibility, upon which service in the IDF and its reserves rests."

Christian flag raises ire

PRAYER FEST: Organizer has made anti-Muslim comments
Last Updated: August 20, 2012 1:08pm

London city hall plans to raise the flag for a Christian-led event whose organizer has called for Muslims to leave Canada.Promo material for the Prayer Fest and March for Jesus this coming weekend speak of family, faith and fun with photos of balloons, a carnival ride and a praying child. But organizer G.J. Rancourt, who until recently headed the Christian Heritage Party in London, has had less cheerful things to say about Muslims, posting on his Facebook page an interview with Omni TV last year in which he said, "(Muslims) should be allowed the freedom to practise fully -- but not in Canada . . . Perhaps a one-way ticket home would be a good idea."The Christian Heritage Party, of which Rancourt is a member, has called for a moratorium on immigrants from Islamic countries that practise Sharia law.It was the city clerk's office that approved the flying of a Christian flag behind city hall for the event, but it did so not knowing of Rancourt's statements about Muslims. The approval has set off alarm bells in London's Islamic community and city council -- both of whom learned of Rancourt's role and his history from The Free Press."Obviously, that would be a concern," said Nabil Sultan, who was in the midst of planning a massive gathering of Muslims at London's BMO Centre to mark the end of the month of Ramadan and Eid Celebrations. Also concerned was city Coun. Bill Armstrong, who said he'd ask Monday the city review both its decision to allow the Christian flag to be raised and the policy that leaves it to the city clerk to make the decision."We don't want issues like this arising . . . When people find out about this, there's going to be holy hell," Armstrong said.City clerk Cathy Saunders said Sunday if concerns are brought to her attention, she'd further review the application for the flag raising.A city policy doesn't allow flag raising for groups that espouse hatred. But Rancourt says the backlash over his comments are misplaced because the event he's organizing is about prayer, Christian fellowship and family -- not his views on Islam. All Christian denominations are attending, Christian businessmen are funding the event, Catholic Bishop Ronald Fabbro is making the opening prayer and city councillor Dale Henderson is bringing greetings on behalf of the city, Rancourt said."Seventy per cent of Canadians call themselves Christian by name . . . We're the social conservative silent majority here," he said.
As to his comments about Muslims, Rancourt stood behind them, calling Islamic Sharia law a threat to democracy and freedom."You are not going to combine submission to a theocracy called Islam and Judeo-Christian culture . . . 90,000 (Canadian Muslims) believe in Sharia law, jihad and terrorism," he said, pointing to a poll funded by an American-based consortium for the study of terrorism.Rancourt wants to make clear that while he objects to Sharia law, he admires Muslims who object to Sharia, too, naming several.
"Some of my best friends are Muslim," he said. This is the third year Rancourt has organized Prayer Fest in London, the first two raising funds through the Christian Heritage Party, a federal party that wants Canada governed in accord with Christian principles. Its members include Henderson, Rancourt said -- though the councillor wasn't so sure when asked Sunday by The Free Press if he'd ever been a Christian Heritage member."I can't remember," Henderson said.Henderson defended the flag raising and said he expects broader turnout now that it's no longer funded through a political party.Henderson was asked about Rancourt's stance on Muslims."I would say (Muslims) are invited (too). It's a prayer fest. It's not based on any denomination," he said.A Christian flag that's used by some churches is to be flown Friday at 7 p.m. at the community flag pole behind city hall, at Reg Cooper Square. The march starts 9 a.m. Saturday at 9 at the parking lot of Beal Secondary school and will be followed by Prayer Fest in front of the bandshell at Victoria Park.--- --- ---

Pakistan girl jailed, accused of blasphemy

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Christian girl was sent to a Pakistani prison after being accused by her furious Muslim neighbors of burning pages of the Islamic holy book, the Quran, in violation of the country's strict blasphemy laws.A police official said Monday there was little evidence that pages of the book had been burned and that the case would likely be dropped. But hundreds of angry neighbors gathered outside the girl's home last week demanding action in a case raising new concerns about religious extremism in this conservative Muslim country. Some human rights officials and media reports said the girl was mentally handicapped. Police gave conflicting reports of her age as 11 and 16.Under Pakistan's blasphemy laws, anyone found guilty of insulting Islam's Prophet Muhammad or defiling the holy book, or Quran, can face life in prison or even execution. Critics say the laws are often misused to harass non-Muslims or target individuals.Police put the girl in jail for 14 days on Thursday after neighbors said they believed a Christian girl had burned pages of a Quran, gathering outside her house in a poor outlying district of Islamabad, said police officer Zabi Ullah. He suggested she was being held for her protection."About 500 to 600 people had gathered outside her house in Islamabad and they were very emotional, angry and they might have harmed her if we had not quickly reacted," Ullah said.Almost everyone in the girl's neighborhood insisted she had burned the Quran's pages, even though police said they had found no evidence of it. One police official, Qasim Niazi, said when the girl was brought to the police station, she had a shopping bag that contained various religious and Arabic-language papers that had been partly burned, but there was no Quran.
Some residents claimed they actually saw burnt pages of Quran — either at the local mosque or at the girl's house. Few people in Pakistan actually speak or read Arabic, so often assume that anything they see with Arabic script is believed to be from the Quran, sometimes the only Arabic-language book people have seen.
But one police officer familiar with the girl's case said the matter would likely be dropped once the investigation is completed and the atmosphere is defused, saying there was "nothing much to the case." He did not want to be identified due to the sensitivity of the case.A spokesperson for Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Farhatullah Babar, said the president has taken "serious note" of reports of the girl's arrest and has asked the Interior Ministry to look into the case.In Washington, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland called the case "deeply disturbing"."We urge the government of Pakistan to protect not just its religious minority citizens but also women and girls," she said. The Associated Press is withholding the girl's name; the AP does not generally identify juveniles under 18 who are accused of crimes. The case demonstrates the deep emotion that suspected blasphemy cases can evoke in a country where religion Many critics say the blasphemy laws are often abused."It has been exploited by individuals to settle personal scores, to grab land, to violate the rights of non-Muslims, to basically harass them," said the head of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Zora Yusuf. Those convicted of blasphemy can spend years in prison and often face mob justice by extremists when they finally do get out. In July, thousands of people dragged a man accused of desecrating the Quran from a police station in the central city of Bahawalpur, beat him to death and then set his body on fire.Attempts to revoke or alter the blasphemy laws have been met with violent opposition. Last year, two prominent political figures who spoke out against the laws were killed in attacks that basically ended any attempts at reform. The girl's jailing terrified her Christian neighbors, many of whom left their homes in fear after the incident. One resident said Muslims used to object to the noise when Christians sang songs during their services. After the girl was accused he said senior members of the Muslim community pressured landlords to evict Christian tenants. But Muslim residents insisted they treated their neighbors with respect, and said Christians needed to respect Islamic traditions and culture."Their priest should tell them that they should respect the call for prayer. They should respect the mosque and the Quran," said Haji Pervez, one of several Muslims gathered at the local mosque less than 100 yards (meters) from the grey concrete house where the Christian girl lived."This is what should have happened. We are standing in the house of God. This incident has happened and it is true. It was not good.""Even a 3-year-old, 4-year-old child knows: "This is Muslim. This is Christian. This is our religion," said shopkeeper Mohammed Ilyas.

Palm scanning causing concern among Moss Bluff Elementary parents

A local elementary school is trying to implement a new program in their cafeteria. But the palm vein scanner is being met with much opposition from Moss Bluff Elementary parents."I was very, very mad," said parent Mamie Sonnier. "Disappointed."Many parents felt that way on Monday after reading a letter sent home with their children from Moss Bluff Elementary School. The letter introduced a new program, the palm vein scanner, to move students through the lunch line at a faster rate. With almost 1,000 students, Principal Charles Caldarera says the system will reduce errors."We are so large," said Caldarera. "With an elementary school, they all come through line, and most of them eat here. It would make us more efficient and more accurate. We've had parents complain in the past, because they felt like their children weren't eating, that we assigned them a charge for the day, and they might have been right."Caldarera says the school is acting on a recommendation from school food service director Patricia Hosemann. But he says the letter gives parents an option."We sent this letter home for parents to be aware of it, and to let them know that they can opt out," said Caldarera. "They can opt out and say, hey, I don't want my child involved in it. That's quite alright. It won't make any difference. The children will still be able to eat in the cafeteria."Sonnier says she's against the palm vein scanner because of her beliefs."As a Christian, I've read the Bible, you know go to church and stuff," said Sonnier. "I know where it's going to end up coming to, the mark of the beast. I'm not going to let my kids have that."Caldarera says a lot of parents agree with her, but he says it's just technology."I think a lot of this has to do with religious beliefs," said Caldarera. "I think some people feel it's something with the Bible, mark of the beast. It's technology that is used throughout our lives. Everywhere."He says the system isn't on campus yet, so students' palms won't be scanned any time soon. But Sonnier says if the program comes to campus, her children aren't participating and won't be around it either."I'd probably pull them out of the school, and transfer them to another school," said Sonnier.Caldarera says they are trying to implement the program as soon as possible, but if you are a parent and don't want your child to participate, you must contact the school by Wednesday.

ECB in nuanced denial of yield cap plans

Today @ 09:12 AUG 21,12 By Honor Mahony
BRUSSELS - The European Central Bank has failed to outright deny that a bold plan for the bank to bring eurozone government borrowing costs is in the offing. The Frankfurt-based bank said it was “absolutely misleading to report on decisions which have not yet been taken and also on individual views, which have not yet been discussed by the ECB’s governing council."But the statement implies that the idea to put caps on bond yields - reported in Germany's Der Spiegel - may yet be debated.According to the report, the bank is considering setting up country-by-country thresholds for sovereign bond yields, after which it would intervene by buying up the stricken states's bonds. The benchmark would be German bonds, seen as the safest in the eurozone. The idea is extremely sensitive. It is likely to raise complaints that the ECB is overstepping its mandate. It is also set to aggravate a fear - particularly among fiscally prudent states such as Germany - that ailing eurozone countries will lose the incentive to carry out reforms.A spokesperson for the German finance ministry was quick to criticise the idea.Saying he was unaware of any such plans, the spokesperson added that "purely theoretically and speaking in the abstract, such an instrument would of course be very problematic."It is "also wrong to speculate on the shape of future ECB interventions," he said, according to AFP.Consideration by the bank on how to overcome the crisis come as the borrowing costs for Spain and Italy have in recent weeks been pushed to near unsustainable levels, with investors doubting in the longterm future of the single currency. Some analysts have suggested that the ECB - with its theoretically limitless capacity to print money - holds to the solution to the eurozone crisis, which has lasted over two years, seen the toppling of several governments, and is now threatening core economies. An editorial in the Financial Times Deutschland suggests that the interest capping rate idea differs from previous proposed solutions in that it offers a "sustainable" way to stem the crisis.

Two crew members injured. Two missiles were fired at the C-17 plane overnight as it stood on the runway, and one of them caused serious damage. Dempsey left the Bagram military base in another plane.U.S. military spokesman Col. Dave Lapan told reporters the attack did not pose any threat to Dempsey or his staff, who were sleeping at the time in their quarters.Shrapnel from one of the rockets hit the door of the aircraft.Dempsey was in Afghanistan to talk with government leaders on taking action against its own soldiers who have killed 40 Western soldiers this year.Ten soldiers, most of them Americans, were killed in the past two weeks. Shortly before Dempsey arrived, a man in a police uniform killed a NATO soldier.“For the first time, I found that my Afghan counterparts are as concerned about the insider attacks as we are,”  Dempsey said after talks in Kabul.

Netanyahu Tells Egypt: Keep Tanks out of Sinai

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has demanded that Egypt cease sending tanks into the Sinai without Israel's approval, a “blatant violation” of the 1979 peace treaty, the Maariv Hebrew-language website reported Tuesday.Mark Regev, spokesman for the Office of the Prime Minister, told Arutz Sheva, “We are not commenting” on the report. An Egyptian newspaper reported that local Bedouin claimed that Egypt already has sent dozens of tanks to the northern Sinai, near the Israeli border. The report has not been confirmed, and most other media outlets have reported that Egypt is preparing to send in tanks, planes and additional soldiers to combat rampant terror.Al Qaeda-linked terror cells, Bedouin and Hamas terrorists have taken control of the Sinai Peninsula in recent years, particularly since the end of the Mubarak regime.
A source close to Prime Minister Netanyahu told Maariv the planned buildup, if it already has not taken place, is “a blatant violation of the peace treaty.”The Obama administration wields influence over Egypt because of its $1.3 billion annual aid to Cairo, and the office of Prime Minister Netanyahu has appealed to the White House to pressure Egypt to stop the deployment.Israel knows that it is to its benefit if the new Egyptian regime can defeat terrorists in the area, but it also fears that Egypt will not be successful and that terrorists could gain possession of tanks.Another concern is that Egypt would maintain its new military presence for an unlimited amount of time and establish “facts on the ground: that would represent a de facto change in terms of the treaty, which requires Israeli approval for additional forces. An unstated concern of almost every Israeli who remembers the Yom Kippur War is that a renewed Egyptian military presence in the Sinai could set the stage for another war, especially if Iran or Hizbullah attacks from the north.Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi is scheduled to visit Iran next week to re-establish ties with Tehran, despite the objections of the United States.Former Obama administration Middle East envoy Dennis Ross wrote in The Washington Post Monday that the U.S. must make clear to Egypt that if it continues to violate its commitments under the Camp David Accords, it would jeopardize its U.S. funding.
Ross said that Egypt's current rulers, the Muslim Brotherhood, must “come to terms with reality,” that they were committed to the Accords. He said that the denial by Egyptian President Morsi that he had responded to a letter of congratulations sent to him by President Shimon Peres, and the attempt by the Muslim Brotherhood to blame the Mossad for the Sinai terror attack, prove that the group cannot tolerate any circumstances that contradicts its philosophy.

Russia warns West over Syria after Obama threats

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Russia warned the West on Tuesday against unilateral action on Syria, a day after U.S. President Barack Obama threatened "enormous consequences" if his Syrian counterpart used chemical or biological arms or even moved them in a menacing way.Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking after meeting China's top diplomat, said Moscow and Beijing were committed to "the need to strictly adhere to the norms of international law...and not to allow their violation".Russia and China have opposed military intervention in Syria throughout a 17-month-old revolt against President Bashar al-Assad. They have vetoed three U.N. Security Council resolutions backed by Western and Arab states that would have put more pressure on Damascus to end violence that has cost 18,000 lives. The United States and its allies have shown little appetite for military action in Syria, in contrast to last year's NATO campaign that helped topple Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. But Obama used some of his strongest language yet on Monday to warn Assad not to cross a "red line" of even shifting unconventional weapons in a threatening manner.Seeking re-election in November, Obama noted that he had refrained "at this point" from ordering U.S. military engagement in Syria. But when he was asked at a White House news conference whether he might deploy forces, for example to secure Syrian chemical and biological weapons, he said his view could change."We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is (if) we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized," Obama said. "That would change my calculus."Syria last month acknowledged for the first time that it had chemical or biological weapons and said it could use them if foreign countries intervened. The threat drew strong warnings from Washington and its allies, although it is not clear how the Syrian armed forces might use such weapons in urban warfare."We cannot have a situation where chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people," Obama said, adding he was not certain the stockpile was secure.
"SAFE ZONE"
Obama has been reluctant to embroil the United States in another war in the Middle East and refuses to arm Syrian rebels, partly for fear that some of those fighting the Iranian-backed president are Islamist radicals equally hostile to the West.Rebels have seized swathes of territory in northern Syria near Turkey, which now hosts 70,000 Syrian refugees.Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was quoted as saying the United Nations may need to create a "safe zone" in Syria to accommodate those fleeing the fighting, saying his country would not be able to take in more than 100,000 refugees. But creating a safe haven would require imposing a no-fly zone, an idea which U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last week was not a "front-burner" issue for Washington. When Obama was asked whether he envisioned the possibility of using U.S. forces at least to safeguard Syria's chemical arsenal, he said: "We're monitoring that situation very carefully. We have put together a range of contingency plans."The U.S.-based Global Security website says there are four suspected chemical weapons sites in Syria producing the nerve agents VX, sarin and tabun. It does not cite its sources.Israel, still formally at war with Syria, has also debated whether to attack the unconventional arms sites which it views as its gravest peril from the conflict next door.
FAILED MISSION
Fighting raged on in Syria, killing around 200 people on Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, and a Japanese woman journalist died of wounds sustained in Aleppo.U.N. military observers left Damascus after a four-month mission during which they became helpless spectators of the conflict, and activists said government forces launched air strikes near the capital that killed two dozen people. The U.N. representatives blamed both sides for the collapse of a truce brokered by outgoing special envoy Kofi Annan: "Our mission failed because the two sides did not abide by their commitments," said one monitor, who declined to be named, before seven United Nations cars left a Damascus hotel carrying some of the last members of a mission once 300 strong.Rebel fighters have complained that foreign powers have supplied neither the quantity or quality of weaponry they need to defeat Assad, such as anti-aircraft missiles. While outgunned by Assad's forces, rebels still managed to seize control of districts in Damascus and Aleppo last month, as well as several border crossings and parts of the north, before the army counter-attacked in Syria's two main cities. With diplomatic efforts to end the war stymied by divisions between world powers and regional rivalries, Syria faces the prospect of a prolonged conflict that increasingly sets a mainly Sunni Muslim opposition against Assad's Alawite minority. That sectarian faultline also flared in neighboring Lebanon, where one person was killed overnight in the northern port city of Tripoli, a mainly Sunni Muslim city with a staunchly pro-Assad Alawite minority.Gunmen in the Sunni district of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Alawite rivals in Jebel Mohsen exchanged sporadic gun and grenade fire through the night, despite the presence of Lebanese army troops. The army said 10 soldiers were wounded, and residents and medics said 40 other people were also hurt.(Additional reporting by Steve Gutterman in Moscow and Matt Spetalnick in Washington; Writing by Dominic Evans; Editing by Alistair Lyon)

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY)of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Israeli buzz on attacking Iran aims to pressure US

A high-volume public debate in Israel over a possible imminent military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities is designed to pressure Washington to back its ally more firmly, experts say.Media chatter over Israel's intentions has become a cacophony, fed daily by pronouncements from politicians, retired generals, former security officials and various commentators. They fill newspaper columns and radio and TV broadcasts with their opinions for or against a pre-emptive Israeli operation against Iran, with or without US approval or assistance.Such talk has been further fuelled by the mass distribution of gas masks to the public, by tests of an SMS attack warning system and by speculation about possible Israeli casualty numbers in the event of an Iranian counter-attack.Defence Minister Ehud Barak and other senior officials have estimated a conflict could last 30 days and claim 500 Israeli lives."There is an orchestrated hysteria, deliberately timed, to put the country in a state of anxiety, artificial or not," former military intelligence chief Uri Saguy wrote this weekend in the left-leaning Haaretz newspaper.Apart from preparing public opinion for the consequences of a conflict, the surge in public statements aims to push US President Barack Obama to take a more hawkish stance on Iran, said Denis Charbit, professor of political science at Israel's Open University."The use of this public diplomacy on the part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defence minister aims to obtain a clearer commitment by the United States to attack if Iran continues its nuclear programme, or at least to give Israel the green light to do so," he told AFP.Obama has said Washington will stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, but has spoken of military action as a last resort that should be preceded by diplomacy and economic sanctions. Netanyahu on the other hand has aggressively pushed the idea of a pre-emptive strike.
There is concern in Washington that a unilateral Israeli strike may not destroy Iran's underground nuclear facilities and could spark Iranian retaliation worldwide, dragging the United States into another war in the Middle East."Statements from the White House are considered too vague by Israeli leaders," Charbit said. "By publicly raising the possibility of an imminent Israeli military operation, they want to push the Americans into showing their hand."The Israeli wish for a firmer US commitment was expressed by another former head of military intelligence, Amos Yadlin, in an opinion piece published at the weekend in the Washington Post.
"The US president should visit Israel and tell its leadership -- and, more important, its people -- that preventing a nuclear Iran is a US interest, and if we have to resort to military action, we will," he wrote, suggesting that Obama address Israel's parliament."This message, delivered by the president of the United States to the Israeli Knesset, would be far more effective than US officials' attempts to convey the same sentiment behind closed doors," said Yadlin, who is in regular contact with Netanyahu and senior Israeli defence and security officials. But Eytan Gilboa, an expert on US-Israel relations at Bar-Ilan University near Tel Aviv, warned that the Israeli strategy of putting pressure on the White House could be counter-productive, especially with Obama up for re-election in November."The period before the presidential election in the United States is inopportune," he said."The series of leaks and declarations in the Israeli media has a negative impact by exposing a high level of mutual mistrust and a lack of coordination between Israel and the United States."Gilboa was however cautiously optimistic about a possible Netanyahu-Obama meeting on the sidelines of next month's UN General Assembly in New York, although Netanyahu's office has so far not confirmed he will attend."The meeting might provide a good opportunity to restore trust and understanding between the two leaders regarding the policy towards Iran," he said.

ISAIAH 17:1,12-14
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
12  Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations,(USELESS U.N) that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13  The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14  And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not.(ASSAD) This is the portion of them that spoil us,(ISRAEL) and the lot of them that rob us.

JEREMEIAH 49:23-27
23  Concerning Damascus.(SYRIA) Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea;(WAR SHIPS WITH NUKES COMING ON SYRIA) it cannot be quiet.
24  Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25  How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26  Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
27  And I will kindle a fire (NUKES OR BOMBS) in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.(ASSADS PALACES POSSIBLY IN DAMASCUS)

Syrian forces kill 23 rebels in town near Damascus

BEIRUT (AP) — Government forces stormed a rebel-held town outside Damascus Tuesday after days of fierce fighting, killing at least 23 fighters, according to an activist group and a rebel spokesman.
In Aleppo, a Japanese TV reporter was killed Monday while covering the fighting in Syria's largest city. She was the first foreign journalist to die in the city since clashes between rebels and regime forces erupted there almost a month ago.In neighboring Lebanon, where the civil war in Syria has been spilling across the border, security officials said clashes between supporters and opponents of President Bashar Assad have left two dead and as many as 45 wounded. The army said the injured include nine Lebanese soldiers.Damascus and its suburbs have witnessed a dramatic spike in fighting over the past month. And regime forces were further stretched when a major battle for control of the northern city of Aleppo erupted around the end of July. Before that, the fighting had been concentrated outside the big cities during the 17-month-old uprising.
It has proved difficult for Assad's forces to put down the rebel challenge in the big cities, a sign that the regime's grip on power over the country is loosening. The Local Coordination Committees activist group and a rebel spokesman said regime troops entered the rebel-held town of Moadamiyeh at dawn from four points. They searched homes looking for rebels. The rebel spokesman asked to be identified by his first name only, Ahmed. He said three men in their late 20s and early 30s were shot dead execution style in the town soon after its fall in the hands of the regime forces. The report could not be independently verified.Moadamiyeh, west of the capital Damascus, has been under siege for more than two weeks. Its capture followed days of intense fighting and shelling by government troops.Japan's Foreign Ministry confirmed overnight that veteran Japanese war correspondent Mika Yamamoto was killed in Aleppo. She worked for The Japan Press, an independent TV news provider that specializes in conflict zone coverage.Foreign Ministry spokesman Masaru Sato said the 45-year-old was hit by gunfire while she and a colleague were traveling with rebels from the Free Syrian Army, who are fighting to topple the Assad regime.Yamamoto had covered the war in Afghanistan after 2001 and the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq from Baghdad as a special correspondent for NTV, according to the Japan Press website. In northern Syria, an activist who goes by the name Abu al-Hassan said warplanes and helicopters attacked a number of towns and villages north of Aleppo early Tuesday, killing two civilians, including a young boy, and damaging homes. Several people were wounded.
After strafing a number of villages overnight, government fighter jets dropped two bombs on a residential part of the village of Marea, about 20 miles (30 kilometers) north of Aleppo, Abu al-Hassan said via Skype.
Amateur videos posted online showed a huge gray cloud of smoke rising over the village and a crater in a road that was strewn with rubble and two houses whose ceilings had collapsed. Residents were searching through the rubble for survivors and carrying the wounded to pickup trucks. A second video showed a number of people, including a small boy, with serious injuries. The videos could not be independently verified.
Marea is a relatively quiet farming village in the Aleppo countryside that was not known for being a hub of rebel activity although one rebel group runs a prison in one of the village's schools."Since the strike, all I can hear outside are cars coming and going," Abu al-Hassan said. "Actually, most of them are going."In Lebanon, officials said fighting broke out Monday night between supporters and opponents of Assad in the northern city of Tripoli and it continued on into Tuesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. The mostly Sunni city also saw gun battles in May, when fighting over Syria killed eight people. The latest clashes are between gunmen from the Sunni neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen and the next door district of Bab Tabbaneh, which is mostly populated by followers of the Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam.Assad is a member of Syria's Alawite minority, while rebels fighting his regime are predominantly Sunnis. The streets around the two districts were sealed off by roadblocks to keep people away from the line of snipers' fire, but life went on normally in the rest of the city despite the occasional sound of gunfire.---Associated Press correspondents Ben Hubbard in Gaziantep, Turkey, and Bassem Mroue, in Tripoli, Lebanon, contributed to this report.

One dead in Lebanon clashes echoing Syria conflict

TRIPOLI, Lebanon (Reuters) - One person was killed and several dozen wounded in clashes between Sunni Muslims and Alawites in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli in another spillover from the war in neighboring Syria, security and medical sources said on Tuesday.Gunmen in the Sunni district of Bab al-Tabbaneh and their Alawite rivals in Jebel Mohsen exchanged gun and grenade fire in sporadic fighting through the night, despite the presence of Lebanese army troops in the port city, residents said. The dead man was identified by residents as Ahmed al-Farfour from Jebel Mohsen, a hill inhabited mainly by Alawites and which overlooks the predominantly Sunni area below. An army statement said soldiers raided buildings used by gunmen and "retaliated swiftly against sources of gunfire". It said five soldiers were wounded on Monday evening and another five, including an officer, were hurt on Tuesday by a hand grenade lobbed at an army base.Aside from the army casualties, some 40 people were wounded in the two districts, residents and medics said.Chronic Sunni-Alawite tensions in Tripoli have been heightened by the 17-month-old, mainly Sunni, uprising in Syria against President Bashar al-Assad, an Alawite. Clashes in the city killed 15 people in early June.(Reporting by Nazih Siddiq; Editing by Alistair Lyon)

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity;(MASS CONFUSION) the sea and the waves roaring;(FIERCE WINDS)
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

THE FIRST JUDGEMENT OF THE EARTH STARTED WITH WATER-IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THE LAST GENERATION WILL BE HAVING FLOODING
GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

Hurricane Gordon passes Portugal's Azores Islands, causes little damage as it weakens

LISBON, Portugal - Authorities say Hurricane Gordon has passed Portugal's mid-Atlantic Azores Islands without causing major damage and is losing strength. The head of the Azores Civil Protection Service, Pedro Carvalho, says there were no reports of significant damage as Gordon passed by Santa Maria and Sao Miguel, two of the archipelago's nine islands, Sunday night. He told public broadcaster Radiotelevisao Portuguesa on Monday that emergency services responded to some calls about localized flooding amid torrential rain.
