Without the ingenuity of America’s brightest minds and the investment of U.S. taxpayer dollars, there would be no Internet, as we now know it today.Now, the Obama administration has moved quietly to cede control of the Web from the United States to foreign powers.Some background: The Internet came into being because of the genius work of Americans Dr.Robert E. Kahn and Dr. Vinton G. Cerf. These men, while working for the Department of Defense in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in the early 1970s, conceived, designed, and implemented the idea of open-architecture networking.This breakthrough in connectivity and networking was the birth of the Internet.These two gentlemen had the vision and the brainpower to create a worldwide computer Internet communications network that forever changed the world and how we communicate in it.They discovered that providing a person with a unique identifier (TCP/IP)that was able to be recognized and interact through a network of servers would allow users to communicate with others.The servers woulduse a series of giant receivers to recognize the identifier and connect networks to networks, passing on information from computer to computer in a seamless real-time exchange of information. This new process of communication became know as the information super highway,aka, the Internet.Now for the bad news: In an effort to show the world how inclusive, sharing, cooperative, and international America can be, the Obama administration set off on a plan to surrender control and key management of the Internet by the U.S. Department of Commerce and its agents.The key to the control America has over the Internet is through the management of the Domain Name System (DNS) and the giant servers that service the Internet.

Domain names are managed through an entity named IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. The IANA, which operates on behalf of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is responsible for the global coordination of the DNS, IP addressing, and other Internet protocol resources.In short, without an IP Address or other essential Internet protocols, a person or entity would not have access to the Internet.For years, the international community has been pressuring the United States
to surrender its control and management of the Internet. They want an international body such as the United Nations or even the International Telecommunications Union, (an entity that coordinates international telephone communications), to manage all aspects of the Internet in behalf of all nations.The argument advanced for those seeking international control of the Internet is that the Internet has become such a powerful, pervasive, and a dependent form of international communications, that it would be dangerous and inequitable for any one nation to control and manage it.Just this past spring, within months of Obama's taking office, his administration, through the Department of Commerce, agreed to relinquish some control over IANA and their governance. The Obama administration has agreed to give greater representation to foreign companies and countries on IANA.This amounts to one small step for internationalism and one giant leap for surrendering America's control over an invention we have every right and responsibility to control and manage.It is in America's economic and national security interests not to relinquish any control. We are responsible for the control, operation, and functionality of one of the modern world's greatest inventions and most powerful communications network.

What better country to protect the Internet than the United States?

We invented it, and we paid for the research and implementation that made it
possible. We are the freest, most tolerant nation on earth, we believe in the
fundamental right of free speech, and we practice a free market of commerce and ideas.America has always been against censorship and has shared its invention with the world without fee or unreasonable or arbitrary restriction. The user fee to operate on the Internet is not one paid to the U.S. government; a consumer pays it to private Internet companies, who provide access to the Internet through servers for their subscribers.Look no further than China's recent move against Google to censor the Internet, and you can envision what can happen when other nations less free than the United States seek to control the Internet beyond even their own borders.America needs to wake up. If we lose control over the management of the
Internet, we have given away one of our nation's greatest assets with nothing
in return to show for it.The Obama administration's actions will set in motion a slow and complete takeover of the Internet by the United Nations or some other equally U.S.-hostile and unfriendly international body. And once it is gone, it will be gone forever.

The surrender of the Internet will spell disaster for our nation, financially, as well as for safety, security and our standing as a great power that values freedom and the free exchange of ideas and information.As far as I am concerned, America is still the last best hope for a more peaceful and prosperous world and our president should not be looking for ways to weaken us. EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The EU's new president, Herman Van Rompuy, has opted to hold his first EU summit in an old library in order to create an informal atmosphere.

The 11 February meeting is to take place in the 108-year-old Bibliotheque Solvay, situated in a small park between the EU member states' normal meeting venue, the Justus Lipsius building, and the European Parliament complex in Brussels.The 27 leaders will spend almost the whole day, from 9am until 6pm, alone in the library's wood-panneled and book-lined main room. Each leader will be allowed to bring along one advisor, but the 27 aides will be segregated in a separate chamber.European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the EU's foreign relations chief, Catherine Ashton, have also been invited. The leaders will be free to mingle and to hold personal conversations about the main topic of the day, the EU's exit strategy from the financial crisis, as well as supplementary topics, such as Haiti relief.

Normal EU summits in the Justus Lipsius building are more straitjacketed affairs, with the group of 27 stuck in their seats at a polygonal table and making formal interventions one after the other in a pre-determined order.He [Mr Van Rompuy] wants to say: It's an informal meeting. I have arrived as president and I want to do this in a more intimate atmosphere, Mr Van Rompuy's spokesman, Dirk De Backer, told EUobserver.It's the first time, so let's see how it goes. It may be repeated. But we can't say it will be like this every time.Mr Van Rompuy was fond of holding informal meetings with his ministers in stately venues, such as Val Duchesse, a former priory on the outskirts of Brussels, when he was prime minister of Belgium.Val Duchesse was also floated for the 11 February event, but it was put aside due to practical problems.The EU leaders will arrive at the Bibliotheque Solvay in their motorcades. They will also drive back the 300 or so metres from the library to Justus Lipsius in order to hold their post-summit press conferences, for the sake of security.

Mr Van Rompuy became EU president on 1 January following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. The low-key appointment has been interpreted as a move by member states to ensure they stay in the driving seat in Europe, with the Belgian politician last year himself promising to play the role of a quiet consensus builder.

UN's Double Standard for Arab Refugees

Yona Levy Grossman, a resident of Moshav Ein HaBesor, located within short-range rocket reach of Hamas terrorists, has begun circulating a slide-show presentation on the internet of late.For a long time,she told Arutz-7’s Shimon Cohen,I didn’t know the true story, and was influenced by the Arab lies.She was finally tipped off to the falsehood of the claim that Jews stole Palestinian land by none other than a professor associated with the left-wing camp.

80-90% of Arabs are New Arrivals
He gave a talk in which he said that 80% to 90% of the Arabs living here today have not lived here for many centuries, as they claim, but are new arrivals, she said.I then began researching the topic, and I found out that he was right.She said that the professor asked that she not reveal his name, however.

Lenient Criteria for Arabs
Grossman also found out some interesting information on UNRWA: Just like many other people, I was sad to hear that Israel had bombed a school in Gaza run by UNRWA [the UN agency responsible for the Arab refugees of 1948] during Operation Cast Lead. So I began to look into this as well.She explains on her slideshow what she found:The UN has two organizations dealing with refugees around the world: One is UNRWA, which deals exclusively with the Arab refugees caused by Israel’s War of Independence in 1948, and the other is UNHCR, which deals with all the other millions of refugees all over the world. UNRWA is the only one that deals with a specific area, and that deals only with refugees caused a particular war.Even more significantly, Grossman found that the two organizations define refugee differently. UNHCR counts only those refugees who lived in a particular place from time immemorial and were forced to leave because of war and the like. UNRWA’s definition, however, is:Every Arab who left Israel in 1948, and who lived there for two years [emphasis added], will also be considered a refugee - he and his descendants.In short, Grossman explains, an Arab need have lived in the Holy Land for only two years in order for him and his descendants to be granted refugee status – whereas in the rest of the world, one who seeks refugee status must be able to trace his ancestry in the area back from time immemorial.In terms of numbers, UNRWA employs 28,000 people - one for every 164 refugees, while UNHCR employs 6,300 people, one for every 2,803 refugees.

Direct Contradiction to Foundation of Arab Claims
As Joan Peters writes in the introduction to her seminal work, From Time Immemorial, she abruptly realized that the different definition for Arab refugee implied a direct contradiction of assumed historical factors that are the very foundation of the current arab claim of legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to their [ancient] homeland.In trying to understand the reason for the two-year clause, Grossman said she came to realize that a tremendous proportion of the Arabs in question had only been in the Holy Land for two years before 1948: If refugee-status would have been contingent upon having lived there for five years, for instance, then there would hardly have been any Arab refugees to speak of!

Different Goals for Different Refugees
Grossman said she also came to realize that the two UN refugee agencies have different goals: Around the world, the UNHRC seeks to rehabilitate refugees and improve their civil rights and personal conditions. UNRWA, however, seeks only to regain the Right of Return for its refugees, without concern for the people’s actual rights, and even if they have already received citizenship somewhere else.

They Don't Care About Palestinians!
Asked if this shows her that the UN is driven by a Palestinian agenda, Grossman said,They don’t care at all about the Palestinians! Whoever treats them in this way and keeps them as refugees doesn’t care about them at all. Rather, there is an oil-driven lobby in the world that simply wants to liquidate the State of Israel; it bothers them that the Jews are a free nation in their land.Though the slide-show is in Hebrew, Grossman’s English explanation of her findings can be seen here.

(IsraelNN.com) Israel is putting its scariest military technology on the market, one that can kill a man with sounds waves. Its mild-mannered alter-ego, however, is being used to scare man's feathered friends away from airports.The Jewish State's military industry now plans to market the cutting-edge bunker buster weapons technology in the form of a sonic cannon. The science behind the device was introduced years ago for the benign purpose of scaring away birds, by former Soviet researcher Igor Fridman, who made Aliyah in 1991. Similar technologies are used in the U.S. for repelling pesky squirrels. Although the technology itself can be used for a relatively harmless purpose, not so the new sonic cannon, powered by fuel-air explosive technology. It delivers sound rays so powerful that according to a recent report in Defense News, anyone hearing them within 10 meters is instantly killed. The blast that results from the explosive fuel-air combustion process explodes from one end of tubular combustion chamber, which operates much the same as a cannon barrel.

The device resembles its gas-fueled predecessor that was used to keep birds away from airports, agricultural crops and military installations, and is fueled by bottled liquified petroleum gas (LPG). Also known as cooking gas, LPG is comprised of a mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating appliances and vehicles. It is a major energy source in Israel's national economy, and is used in industry and agriculture as well as in the domestic and institutional sectors. The process used in the new bunker buster technology, patented as Pulse Detonation Technology (PDT), is much the same as the pulse-detonated fuel-air mixtures used in the Argus pulse jet that propelled the Doodlebug V-1 cruise missiles used by the Nazis in World War II. Many of Iran's nuclear facilities are buried deep underground in concrete-shielded bunkers, which experts believe will be difficult to target in any military operation. Hizbullah terrorists also hid much of their ordnance and guerrilla manpower in such bunkers during the 2006 Second Lebanon War. They have also spent the past several years training Hamas terrorists in Gaza to do the same.

Jewish Growth in Judea/Samaria Tops the Charts

(IsraelNN.com) The number of Jews in Judea and Samaria has grown to 313,000 – double the growth rate of the rest of Israel – according to the latest Civil Administration report.The Civil Administration report, as quoted by Haaretz, shows that the population in Judea and Samaria grew in the past half-year by 2.75%, and by 5.1% in the past year, and now stands at 312,940. A large part of the growth is due to the hareidi-religious cities of Beitar Illit (6.3%) and Modiin Illit (9,8%) - but even without those cities, Yesha’s growth rate of 3.8% more than doubles that of the rest of Israel, which stands at 1.7%.Two-thirds of the towns in Yesha grew at a higher rate than the rest of Israel (see below).MK Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh), one of the original driving forces in the early years of the settlement enterprise, both as top aide to then-Housing Minister Ariel Sharon and as one of the founding members of Beit El, said it's just another step in the glorious return of the Nation of Israel to the Land of Israel.

The steeply-climbing number of Jews living in Judea and Samaria joins the 300,000 Jews in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem over the Green Line, Katz said,and is proof that the eternality of the Nation of Israel is much stronger than the freeze decrees of a weak prime minister who violates his promises. IDF: Religious Girls May Serve in Groups

(IsraelNN.com) The IDF is offering a new service track for young religious women in the hope of attracting more of them to serve in the military. The track will enable them to serve in groups of six or more girls who will remain together throughout their military service. The new option was presented this week before a group of 500 religious girls who are candidates for enlistment. Military journal BaMachaneh reported that the idea of serving in groups is meant to assist religious girls who are interested in military service, instead of volunteering for civilian duties in the National Service, or opting out of national service. The close knit group which they would be part of could assist them in maintaining the religious lifestyle that they are used to.The new track will offers the recruits the option of group service in the Air Force – as simulator trainers, intelligence researchers or aerial photography analysts. In the Ground Forces, the groups will be able to serve as instructors in the Armored Corps, Engineering Corps or Artillery. In the Home Front Command, they will be able to serve in Personnel Branch and in Teleprocessing Branch, as observers or population guides for emergency situations.The new track is a joint initiative of the IDF and NGO Aluma. Captain Ravit Noi of the IDF's recruit base, now known as Meitav, said that the track was created in order to provide a solution for religious girls who are interested in meaningful service, while maintaining a serious religious framework. We hope that the immediate environment will be composed of girls who come from similar backgrounds.

The Chief Rabbinate of Israel standing ruling is that Jewish girls may not serve in the army for Halachic (Jewish legal) reasons beyond those concerning religious frameworks. This ruling gave rise to volunteer National Service options which are independent of the IDF and contribute significantly to Israeli society.
