PEACE PARTNER MURDERS ISRAELI POLICE

MUSLIM NATIONS

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY)of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

ISAIAH 17:1
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

PSALMS 83:3-7
3 They (ARABS,MUSLIMS) have taken crafty counsel against thy people,(ISRAEL) and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they (MUSLIMS) have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:(TREATIES)
6 The tabernacles of Edom,and the Ishmaelites;(ARABS) of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon,(JORDAN) and Amalek;(SYRIA) the Philistines (PALESTINIANS) with the inhabitants of Tyre;(LEBANON)

DANIEL 11:40-43
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south( EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) and the king of the north (RUSSIA AND MUSLIM HORDES OF EZEK 38+39) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

JOEL 2:3,20,30-31
3 A fire(NUCLEAR BOMB) devoureth before them;(RUSSIA-ARABS) and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army,(RUSSIA,MUSLIMS) and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.(SIBERIAN DESERT)
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.(NUCLEAR BOMB)
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Netanyahu envisions major war in coming months
Press TV March 17, 2009

Amid lingering talks of war on Iran, Israel’s prime minister-designate raises the alarm about a major military conflict in the coming months. The soon-to-be prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that a national emergency such as Israel’s involvement in a major war would help him in his frantic attempts to form a new ruling coalition.Following the inconclusive February 20 elections, Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu, the hawkish leader of Likud, was tasked with piecing together a new Israeli government.Netanyahu, who is known as Mr. Iran in Israeli circles, has so far failed to gain the trust and support of opposition parties of Kadima and Labor.

According to a report carried by Debka, which is believed to have close links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, Bibi is planning to settle for a provisional administration before calling for another early election in six months. His main consideration is that Israel expects to be embroiled in a major military confrontation in the next few months with Iran, Hamas or Hezbollah — or all three at once, read the Debka report.A national emergency would then compel Israeli rivals to join Bibi’s government, unnamed political sources were quoted as saying. The military conflict prediction by the Israeli prime minister-designate comes as earlier on February 16, an annual defense work plan presented to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi for the year 2009 described Iran as the No.1 threat the IDF is now preparing for.The report tasked the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) with reinforcing its strategic aerial capabilities, while zooming in on the development of remote-piloted vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as infrastructural investments in intelligence and communications devices.Israel, believed to be the only possessor of a nuclear arsenal in the Middle East, describes Iran’s nuclear activities as a threat to its existence.

Israeli officials claim that considering the pace at which Iran is moving ahead with its nuclear program it would become a nuclear power by the end of 2009 and argue that a military attack is a legitimate option for taking out the country’s nuclear infrastructure. As a response to long-standing Israeli war rhetoric, Iran has moved to upgrade its defenses and has reportedly opted to clinch a deal with Russia to acquire a sophisticated air defense system — the S-300.Earlier on Tuesday, however, a report revealed that Moscow might take a step and shelve the delivery of the controversial air defense system to Iran as Russia is currently seeking to turn a new page in its ties with the US.Such a possibility is not excluded. The question [of S-300 delivery] must be decided at a political level, especially as the contract was worked out on a purely commercial basis,Russia’s Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying. The freeze in the delivery of the Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile is expected to help ensure the success of an Israeli airstrike on Iranian nuclear sites.

Western military experts have estimated that the controversial system would rule out the possibility of any such strike on Iranian facilities. If Tehran obtained the S-300, it would be a game-changer in military thinking for tackling Iran, says long-time Pentagon advisor Dan Goure.

Minister beaten after clashing with Muslims on his TV show
By Jonathan Petre 4:39 PM on 15th March 2009

A Christian minister who has had heated arguments with Muslims on his TV Gospel show has been brutally attacked by three men who ripped off his cross and warned: If you go back to the studio, we’ll break your legs. The Reverend Noble Samuel was driving to the studio when a car pulled over in front of him. A man got out and came over to ask him directions in Urdu.Mr Samuel, based at Heston United Reformed Church, West London, said: ‘He put his hand into my window, which was half open, and grabbed my hair and opened the door.Frightened: TV minister Noble Samuel. He started slapping my face and punching my neck. He was trying to smash my head on the steering wheel.

Then he grabbed my cross and pulled it off and it fell on the floor. He was swearing. The other two men came from the car and took my laptop and Bible. The Metropolitan Police are treating it as a faith hate assault and are hunting three Asian men.
In spite of the attack, Mr Samuel went ahead with his hour-long live Asian Gospel Show on the Venus satellite channel from studios in Wembley, North London. During the show the Muslim station owner Tahir Ali came on air to condemn the attack.Pakistan-born Mr Samuel, 48, who was educated by Christian missionaries and moved to Britain 15years ago, said that over the past few weeks he has received phone-in calls from people identifying themselves as Muslims who challenged his views. They were having an argument with me,he said. They were very aggressive in saying they did not agree with me. I said those are your views and these are my views. He said that he, his wife Louisa, 48, and his son Naveed, 19, now fear for their safety, and police have given them panic alarms. I am frightened and depressed,he said. My show is not confrontational.

FROM WND'S JERUSALEM BUREAU Peace partner: We murdered Jewish cops
But Israeli media claims unknown group took responsibility March 16, 2009
1:55 pm Eastern By Aaron Klein 2009 WorldNetDaily

JERUSALEM – Gunmen from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization called WND today to claim responsibility for the deadly shooting yesterday of two Israeli traffic police officers. A top leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah's declared military wing, said the attack was carried out to avenge the Feb. 12, 2007, assassination of Hezbollah arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh. He said the attack was perpetuated by members of what he called the Imad Mughniyeh Brigades, which he said is composed of Fatah Al Aqsa Brigades gunmen. The shooting was close to Mughniyeh's death anniversary and is a reaction of Fatah for our allies in Hezbollah, said the top Fatah Brigades leader. We in the Brigades want to clarify that all efforts of the U.S. and (PA Prime Minister Salam) Fayyad's government to eliminate Fatah as a fighting movement won't succeed. As long as the (Israeli) occupation continues, Fatah will be the leading power of resistance. The same Fatah Brigades terrorist leader who called WND said he called multiple other media outlets and identified himself fully. Still, the Israeli media is claiming an unknown group calling itself the Imad Mughniyeh Group took credit, without identifying the group as being part of Fatah.

Both U.S. and Israeli policy consider Fatah to be moderate.

Olmert previously granted temporary amnesty to hundreds of terrorists on condition they disarm, refrain from attacks and spend three months in PA detention facilities and another three months confined to the West Bank city in which they reside. If the terrorists completed their side of the deal, Olmert's office said it would grant permanent amnesty, allowing them freedom of movement in the West Bank and taking them off Israel's most wanted list of terrorists to ensure they are not arrested. In spite of rampant Israeli media reports that many of the pardoned terrorists refused to disarm and continued carrying out attacks, Olmert granted many full amnesty, meaning they are treated as ordinary Palestinian citizens and not wanted men. The two slain police officers, identified as David Rabinowitz and Yehezkel Ramzamker, were killed while on patrol near the settlement of Masu'a in the northern West Bank. An Israel Police spokesman told Israel's Haaretz newspaper that according to an initial investigation, gunmen opened fire on the patrol car at close range, causing the officers to lose control of the vehicle. The two had been killed by gunshots and the main suspicion points to a nationalistic motive, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Netanyahu in deal with right-wing Israeli party By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer – Mon Mar 16, 12:14 pm ET

JERUSALEM – Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party has initialed a coalition agreement with an ultra-nationalist faction that brings its leader significantly closer to becoming foreign minister, a Likud party spokeswoman said Monday.Avigdor Lieberman, who heads the right-wing Yisrael Beitenu party, has drawn accusations of racism for a plan that would require Arab citizens to sign loyalty oaths or lose their citizenship.Although that plan is not likely to be implemented, his designation as foreign minister could harm Israel's international ties. The European Union urged Netanyahu to craft a government that embraces the long-standing goal of an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel — signaling that the appointment of Lieberman as foreign minister would be seen in Europe as a setback to Middle East peace efforts.Let me say very clearly that the way the European Union will relate to an (Israeli) government that is not committed to a two-state solution will be very, very different,Javier Solana, the EU's foreign and security affairs chief, said Sunday.Lieberman's appointment to the post is not yet finalized, however. Likud spokeswoman Dina Libster said the coalition agreement included a provision that both sides were prepared to accept more centrist partners, such as the Kadima Party of the current foreign minister, Tzipi Livni. That wording left a door open for Livni to retain her current job if she were to join such an alliance.Livni confirmed reports that Netanyahu had resumed overtures to recruit her in recent days, but said their talks had failed to sway her. Livni has said she would only serve in a government that is committed to a peace agreement.

It's no secret that during the past week there were discussions with the chairman of the Likud, the designated person to form a government, she told Kadima lawmakers Monday.Things have not changed. She said that while she was prepared to join Netanyahu as an equal partner, she would not serve in order to lend legitimacy to an alliance with Lieberman and other hawks. That is the central thesis for any kind of unity government, she said. Not joining to strengthen a government whose positions are not our positions.Libster, the Netanyahu spokeswoman, held out the possibility that a deal could still be struck with Livni. Both Likud and Yisrael Beitenu are interested in a broad government, she said. The agreement with Yisrael Beitenu is the first Netanyahu has initialed on his way toward setting up a coalition. The government taking shape would include nationalist and Orthodox Jewish parties that take a harder line on Palestinian and Arab issues than the outgoing administration of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.Netanyahu has criticized last year's U.S.-sponsored peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, aimed at partitioning the land and establishing a Palestinian state. The talks made little progress.Netanyahu favors focusing on efforts to bolster the Palestinian economy, leaving issues like borders, sovereignty and Israeli settlements for a later stage. In defiance of Israeli commitments to international plans, Netanyahu also favors expanding Israel's West Bank Jewish settlements. That could put Israel on a collision course with the Palestinians and the new Obama administration. In a recent visit, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the goal of negotiations must be the creation of a Palestinian state living next to Israel in peace.

Though Lieberman now says he supports Palestinian statehood, he also believes such a state should include territory inside Israel containing heavily populated Arab areas. Such a plan could strip hundreds of thousands of Arabs of their Israeli citizenship, regardless of their feelings on the issue. Speaking in Brussels, Belgium, before the Likud-Yisrael Beitenu accord was signed, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said the emerging government was anti-peace.Netanyahu still needs to add several other parties to reach a majority in the 120-member parliament. In the election last month, his Likud won 27 seats, and Yisrael Beitenu adds another 15. Kadima won 28 seats, but Netanyahu was chosen to form a government because a majority of members of parliament said they favored him over Livni as premier. Netanyahu's negotiators were set to meet later Monday with a team from Shas, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish party with 11 seats in the parliament. If Kadima stays outside, Netanyahu is expected to bring in Shas and other smaller hard-line parties to give him a majority of 65.

Analysis: Mideast peace up to interlocking deals By STEVEN GUTKIN, Associated Press Writer MAR 16,09

JERUSALEM – The fate of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has become a collection of moving parts that somehow need to come together in a single package: an Israel-Hamas prisoner swap, a truce for Gaza, and new governments on both sides of the firing line that could pursue peace.Prospects for success decreased significantly on Monday, when Egyptian-mediated talks for a prisoner swap — exchanging a captured Israeli soldier for hundreds of jailed Palestinian militants — ended without agreement, according to Israeli officials, dashing hopes that a deal was close.Such a swap could have helped pave the way for a longterm Israel-Hamas truce deal that in turn might have opened the Gaza Strip's blockaded borders to allow for reconstruction after Israel's punishing offensive there.Rebuilding Gaza will almost surely also depend on the success of current reconciliation talks in Egypt between Hamas militants and the Western-backed Fatah movement in efforts to reverse the results of a brief 2007 civil war that left rival Palestinian governments in Gaza and the West Bank.Getting Hamas and Fatah to reconcile is also key to the success of U.S.-backed Mideast peace talks, as it's unlikely Israel would sign on to a deal if moderates are in control of just the West Bank while militants rule Gaza. The latest news from Egypt is that the Hamas-Fatah talks are not going well.

The biggest question now is whether Israel would sign a deal under any circumstances. Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu, a political hawk, early Monday initialed a coalition agreement with the ultranationalist Yisrael Beitenu Party — increasing the likelihood that Israel's next government will spurn peace talks. The bottom line is that the obstacles to Palestinian unity, open borders for Gaza and a peace deal that would usher in Palestinian statehood seem as formidable as ever.Contacts in Cairo between Israel and Hamas for a prisoner swap have ended without agreement after Hamas hardened its position and retracted earlier understandings, the Israeli government said in a statement late Monday. The statement came after two high-level Israeli negotiators returned home after two days of intensive talks in Cairo. The statement said that during the negotiations, Hamas hardened its positions, retracted understandings reached during the last year and raised extreme demands, despite generous Israeli offers.Winning the release of Gilad Schalit, a 22-year-old Israeli sergeant captured by Hamas-allied militants in June 2006, would have given Olmert a key diplomatic victory in his final days as prime minister. The kidnapping took place shortly after Olmert took office and has clouded his tenure.Hamas has demanded the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, including dozens convicted of killing Israelis.Hamas officials were not available for comment late Monday. Some Mideast watchers had predicted the group would be eager to reach a deal before Netanyahu takes office. The Israeli politician is putting together what is shaping up to be a right-wing coalition that will almost surely be less accommodating to Hamas demands — even though a broad-based Israeli unity government including centrists is also still possible.A prisoner swap could have strengthened Hamas by creating the impression that militants and their violent acts are the best way to get Israel to budge. However, a swap could also help boost Fatah by securing the release of that group's most popular politician, Marwan Barghouti.

For Hamas, a prisoner swap would also be an important step toward ending Israel's crushing economic blockade of Gaza. Following a bloody Israeli military offensive in Gaza earlier this year, Hamas is desperate to reopen the area's borders to allow in reconstruction supplies. Israel says it won't enter a longterm truce deal easing the sanctions until Schalit comes home.Even if a prisoner swap could somehow be salvaged and lead to a permanent truce deal for Gaza, it's unlikely all the money and materials needed to rebuild the territory could come in unless Fatah regains a foothold there. That's because international donors are loath to send money to a militant regime and because Israel suspects reconstruction materials could be used for warfare.Fatah and Hamas factions meeting in Cairo agreed over the weekend that Palestinian elections should be held in the West Bank and Gaza by next January. But that appeared to be their only agreement amid many disputes — including whether Hamas could accept the key demands that it renounce violence and honor past peace accords with Israel. If Hamas sticks by its refusal to recognize the Jewish state, as seems likely, a new right-wing Israeli government could use that as an excuse to shun a future Palestinian unity government, and perhaps even intensify the blockade of Gaza.

Egypt talks to Europe, US on Palestinian unity By SALAH NASRAWI, Associated Press Writer MAR 16,09

CAIRO – Egypt has dispatched two of its top officials to convince the Americans and the Europeans to accept a weaker commitment by the militant Hamas group to peace with Israel for the sake of forging a united Palestinian government, officials said Monday.

Hamas and the more moderate Fatah group have been trying for nearly a week to reconcile and form a national unity government, but have been wrangling over the language of how to address past Palestinian agreements with Israel. The formation of a unity government is key to moving ahead with reconstruction in Gaza after Israel's recent offensive there.Egypt has been mediating the talks, which have hinged on whether Hamas has to commit itself to past PLO agreements with Israel or if it could just respect them. The language is sensitive because Hamas, which calls for Israel's destruction, is wary of wording that could convey an implicit recognition of Israel.

Egyptian officials and Fatah's leader, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, have repeatedly said that any new Palestinian government should accept previous peace agreements with Israel and Arab peace efforts with the Jewish state. But Egypt's decision to dispatch Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit to Brussels and the country's powerful intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman, to Washington indicates officials have had little success convincing Hamas to change its stance.Omar Suleiman and Aboul Gheit were sent to convince the Americans and the Europeans that a softer language in the political program might do,said one Egyptian official.A Palestinian official participating in the reconciliation talks in Cairo said, Egypt has exhausted all its efforts and that is the only attempt left. The officials said Egypt is suggesting to the U.S. and the Europeans that they accept that Hamas respect the PLO past agreements rather than commit itself to them. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.Aboul Gheit held talks in Brussels on Monday with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and EU Development Commissioner Louis Michel, according to Egypt's official news agency. He met with Javier Solana, the EU's foreign and security affairs chief, on Sunday.I found full agreement with the Europeans on the issue of the peace process and the Palestinian national reconciliation,Aboul Gheit was quoted as saying.

Suleiman left for Washington on Sunday, said an Egyptian official.

The reconciliation talks are aimed at ending divisions going back to Hamas' violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in June 2007, which left Fatah in charge only of the West Bank. Previous unity accords have collapsed in mistrust and infighting, but this time both sides appear to have a strong incentive to reach an accord.Hamas is under pressure to mend fences with Fatah to help end the devastating blockade of Gaza imposed by Egypt and Israel and obtain foreign funding to rebuild Gaza.Fatah and Abbas, whose popularity took a beating due to his perceived lack of decisiveness during the Gaza war, need to find a way to blunt the challenges from Hamas.

9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

FROM JEROME CORSI'S RED ALERT One-world currency emerges ... again Acmetal considered as solution to global economic recession March 16, 2009 3:32 pm Eastern 2009 WorldNetDaily

Canadian economist and Nobel-prize winner professor Robert Mundell, an influential proponent who is credited with having formulated the intellectual basis for creating the euro, is pushing for a one-world currency, Jerome Corsi's Red Alert reports. This prominent endorsement is yet another indication that globalists are advancing global governance and structures, including the idea of a global currency, as solutions to the worldwide economic recession,Corsi wrote. Mundell has endorsed Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev's idea to create the acmetal as a world currency. I must say that I agree with President Nazarbayev on his statement and many of the things he said in his plan, the project he made for the world currency, and I believe I'm right on track with what he is saying, professor Mundell told the Australian News.Nazarbayev and Mundell called on the G-20 at the April 2 meeting in London to form a working group to study the proposal. Nazarbayev explained that his coining of the name acmetal comes from the Greek word acme, meaning peak or best, and capital.

A one-world currency presupposes the creation of a one-world central bank that would manage the currency, thereby superseding the authority of nation-state central banks, such as the Federal Reserve in the United States and the European Union Central Bank, Corsi wrote. As WND reported, Benn Steil, a senior fellow and director of international economics at the Council of Foreign Relations, wrote in the May/June 2007 issue of the Council of Foreign Relations' Foreign Affairs magazine an article entitled, The end of national currency, in which his major conclusion was that countries should abandon monetary nationalism. Steil tempered his embrace of one-world currency, writing, Governments should replace national currencies with the dollar or the euro or, in the case of Asia, collaborate to produce a new multinational currency over a comparably large and economically diversified area.Red Alert has reported that the finance chiefs of five of the six-member, oil-rich Gulf Cooperation Council approved a proposal to create a monetary union as a move toward adopting a single currency. The six Islamic states constituting the Gulf Cooperation Council are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In 2002, the finance ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council states sought out the assistance of the European Central Bank, as the model for their single currency. WND has also documented a move by the 53-nation African Union to create an African continental currency called the gold Mandala.Former Mexican President Vicente Fox also confirmed on CNN's Larry King television show in October 2007 a plan he conceived with President Bush to create a new regional currency in the Americas. Red Alert's author, whose books The Obama Nation and Unfit for Command have topped the New York Times best-sellers list, received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science in 1972. For nearly 25 years, beginning in 1981, he worked with banks throughout the U.S. and around the world to develop financial services marketing companies to assist banks in establishing broker/dealers and insurance subsidiaries to provide financial planning products and services to their retail customers. In this career, Corsi developed three different third-party financial services marketing firms that reached gross sales levels of $1 billion in annuities and equal volume in mutual funds. In 1999, he began developing Internet-based financial marketing firms, also adapted to work in conjunction with banks. In his 25-year financial services career, Corsi has been a noted financial services speaker and writer, publishing three books and numerous articles in professional financial services journals and magazines.

Update on acmetal March 14th, 2009 by Elina Galperin

So while many news outlets, including yours truly, made fun of Nazarbayev’s plan for a world currency, a Nobel-prize winner Professor Robert Mundell thinks it’s quite plausible. He was the architect of the euro and believes the idea could be expanded. I continue to seriously doubt it, Nobel prize or not.I see Nazarbayev’s remarks as intended for domestic consumption. Blaming the dollar and the West for the economic crisis, and anything else, is standard fare. Nazarbayev is looking to deflect blame. Russia, on the other hand, thinks acmetal is a bad idea as it promotes its own plans for regional use of the rouble. I also doubt the plausibility of that as the rouble is too ostensible a sign of Russian domination.

Amero, Global efforts to tackle the recession
Acmetal:Currency of the Recession to make London Debut

By Judi McLeod Friday, March 13, 2009

The entire recession-bound world is about to come down with a bad case of acme. In an article from Agence France-Presse comes word that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has the backing of the architect of the euro currency, Nobel-prize winner Professor Robert Mundell. Nazarbayev, speaking at an economic forum in the glitzy new capital he has built on the Kazakh steppe, defended his proposal for the acmetal world currency saying it might look kind of funny but was not,(The Australian, March 11, 2009).Nazarbayev may have been more forthright had he said it might look kind of fishy. The acmetal, combines the Greek world acme, meaning peak or best, and capital.

Call it acmetal in Kazakh. Call it amero in the headed-for-economic-meltdown United States of America. That the acmetal now has the backing of a Canadian-born Nobel-prize winner does not make it any more palatable. When it comes to laying the intellectual groundwork for a single currency, Mundell is king, although he refers to himself as just one of several godfathers. These godfathers include anti-Americans UN Poster Boy Maurice Strong and big time speculator George Soros. There’s a fishy smell wafting over the pond and it can be traced right back to acmetal. In the U.S., experts were predicting three years ago that the collapse of the dollar was imminent.

People in the U.S. are going to be hit hard, says Bob Chapman publisher of The International Forecaster newsletter. In the severe recession we are entering now, Bush will argue that we have to form a North American Union to compete with the Euro. (Debut of the `amero’, Canada Free Press, Dec. 14, 2006). Mundell, who backs the acmetal, said on Oct. 14, 1999, The emerging multi-polar world...presents a better opportunity to create a world central bank with a stable international currency than at any previous time in history.Asked in 2003 whether Milton Friedman’s suggestion that the euro areas could break up within 15 years was plausible, he responded: An asteroid could hit our planet and demolish any area, or a world war could break out. No currency area is war proof. Even the US monetary union broke up in 1861. The UK is, he says, already losing out by not adopting the euro. He told the Treasury:
It has lost foreign direct investment to the euro areas as a consequence of its fluctuating exchange rate. It has also lost political influence over other EU members in matters of economic policy.(http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk, June 13, 2003). Born in Canada in 1932, Prof. Mundell received his BA from the University of British Columbia in 1953. He studied at the London School of economics and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956. From 1966 to 1971, he was economics professor at the University of Chicago and editor of the Journal of Political Economy.

A world central bank controlling all national monetary policies and currencies--until such time as a single global currency may be established--is essential to the one-worlder’s East-West merger scheme. As we have seen in the preceding chapter, the insiders’ penultimate goal is to create regional blocs in which the nation-states will become so economically and politically interdependent and integrated that the nations are subsumed into regional super-governments (the EU, WHFTA, APEC, etc.) with regional central banks and regional currencies. Once this is done, it is small work to merge the regional entities into a single global government.- (The UN World Money System)I must say that I agree with President Nazarbayev on his statement and many of the things he said in his plan, the project he made for the world currency, and I believe I’m right on track with what he’s saying, Prof. Mundell said, adding the ideas held great promise. Mr. Nazarbayev and Prof. Mundell urged the Group of 20 leading developed and developing economies to form a working group on the proposal at their summit on the global economic crisis in London on April 2. We should deliver our thoughts and the thoughts of this conference to the leaders of those countries, Mr. Nazarbayev said, referring to the G8 and G20 nations. (The Australian)The euro, for which Prof. Mundell says his enthusiasm has not waned, followed a route of stealth and surprise in that it had already been issued as replacement currency before the masses could coalesce to fight it. Even though the media spotlight is on the plans being discussed for Obama to be granted an audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace on April 1st., the president will be in London for talks on global efforts to tackle the recession, central also to Gordon Brown’s plans for responding to the recession. While Americans are kept busy with Obama policies that are dramatically changing their country, will the amero be unveiled under the name acmetal at the summit on global economic crisis in London next month? SPP: Updating the Militarization and Annexation of North America
Stephen Lendman Global Research March 14, 2009

The title refers to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), also known as the North American Union - formerly launched at a March 23, 2005 Waco, Texas meeting attended by George Bush, Mexico’s President Vincente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. It’s for a tri-national agreement, below the radar, for greater economic, political, and security integration with secret business and government working groups devising binding policies with no public knowledge or legislative debate.Mexico’s President Vincente Fox, President George Bush, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. In short, it’s a military-backed corporate coup d’etat against the sovereignty of three nations, their populations and legislative bodies. It’s a dagger through the heart of democratic freedom in all three, yet the public is largely unaware of what’s happening.Last April, New Orleans hosted the last SPP summit. Ever since, progress may have stalled given the gravity of the global economic crisis and top priority need to address it. Nonetheless, what’s known to date is updated below plus some related information.Last September, the Army Times reported that the 3rd Infantry’s 1st Brigade Combat Team in Iraq would be re-deployed at home (October 1) as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks. This marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.

Then on December 1, the Washington Post reported that the Pentagon will deploy 20,000 troops nationwide by 2011 to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear attack or other domestic catastrophe. Three rapid-reaction combat units are planned. Two or more others may follow. They’ll be supplemented by 80 smaller National Guard units trained to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, high-yield explosive, and other domestic terror attacks or disturbances. In other words, homeland militarization and occupation are planned using troops trained to kill. The pretext is national security. In fact, they’ll be on-call against another major terrorist attack, real or contrived, as well as civil unrest given the gravity of the economic crisis, its affect on millions, and likelihood that sooner or later they’ll react. Armed combat troops will supplement militarized local police in case security crackdowns are ordered or martial law declared.Catastrophic Emergency procedures are in place to react to situations, natural or manmade, according to DHS/FEMA’s March 2008 Preparedness for the Next Catastrophic Disaster policy paper. Should conditions warrant, initiatives to suspend the Constitution and declare martial law are in place, but militarizing America for business is also at issue.Last October 1, the Canadian Action Party posted a COUP IN USA ALERT after the Bush administration announced the homeland deployment of troops with $100 billion (bailout) dollars to do it.

What’s Likely in Prospect

SPP efforts paused during the Bush to Obama transition, but deep integration plans remain. On January 19, Ottawa’s Carleton University’s Centre for Trade Policy and Law outlined an agenda for America and Canada going forward. It called for early and sustained cooperation at a time of continuing global crisis, to include security, defense, trade and competitiveness. It said the most pressing issue is the need to re-think the architecture for managing North America’s common economic space (including) trade liberalization. It used language like re-imagining (and) modernizing the border that reads like erasing it and doing the same with Mexico. In a similar vein, it recommends integrating national regulatory regimes into one that applies on both sides of the border. It called the arrival of a new Washington administration a golden opportunity to forge a mutually beneficial agenda (that) will define global and North American governance for years to come.It mentioned the specter of protectionism and need to avoid it given the current economic climate. It advocates a more ambitious Canada-US Partnership beyond NAFTA,in co-partnership with Mexico.

Titled North America Next, a recent Arizona State University North American Center for Transborder Studies report called for sustainable and security competitiveness and deeper US-Canada-Mexico integration through sustainable security and effective trade and transportation (to) make (the three nation) North America(n partnership) safer, more economically viable, and more prosperous. Both Carleton and Arizona State University project participants want SPP initiatives invigorated under a new Washington administration, especially in a climate of global economic crisis when addressing it takes precedence.

Other Issues in Play

The Canadian’s Mike Finch North American Union (NAU) watch reports that US and Canadian organizations want to end free flow Internet information. He cites an net-neutrality activist group discovery of plans for the demise of the free Internet by 2010 in Canada, and by 2012 globally.Canada’s two largest ISPs, Bell Canada and TELUS, are behind a scheme to limit browsing, block out sites, and charge fees on most others as part of a 2012 planned full (NAU) launching. Web host I Power’s Reese Leysen called it beyond censorship: it is killing the biggest (ever) ecosystem of free expression and freedom of speech. He cited big company inside sources providing information on exclusivity deals between ISPs and big content providers (like TV studios and video game publishers) to decide which sites will be in the standard package offered customers, leaving the rest of the Internet unreachable except for fees.Leysen called his source 100% reliable and cited similar information from a Dylan Pattyn Time magazine article, based on Bell Canada and TELUS sources. Plans are for only the top 100 - 200 sites making the cut in the initial subscription package, likely to include major news outlets at the expense of smaller, alternative ones. The Internet would become a playground for billion-dollar content providers, like cable TV providers, unless efforts are made to stop it.Leysen thinks US and global ISPs have similar plans that include free speech restrictions and privacy invasions. The stakes are high if he’s right. Yet the profit potential is huge and friendly governments may oblige. Also involved are deceptive marketing and fear tactics (like citing child pornography threats) to gain public approval for subscription services masquerading as online safety. The time to stop it is now.

Earlier Plans to Rename SPP/NAU

Last March, Canada’s Fraser Institute proposed it in an article titled: Saving the North American Security and Prosperity Partnership at a time of mounting criticism. It recommended discarding NAU in favor of the North American Standards and Regulatory Area (NASRA) to disguise its real purpose. It called the SPP brand tarnished so changing it was essential to continue where NAFTA left off by combining security with quality of life issues like food safety, global warming, climate change, and pandemic diseases. It also wants better communications to sell it to the public. Their idea is to fool most people until it’s too late to matter.

Rumblings in America at the State Level

Running counter to deep integration, News with Views (NWV) writer Jim Kouri headlined on February 23: Individual States Declaring Sovereignty. He cites political strategist Mike Baker saying Americans are becoming disenchanted with the federal government’s lack of perspective on matters like: illegal aliens, crime, (and) economic turmoil - while intruding into the private lives of citizens with gun-control laws and other intrusions, issues our Founding Fathers relegated to the individual states. Bothersome also are unfunded mandates that states can’t handle given their over-stretched budgets and need to cut back. In addition, Washington’s intrusion into local law enforcement is a big issue. So far, nine states have declared sovereignty and another dozen or more are considering it. Enacted or proposed legislation varies from all states’ rights to selective ones like gun control and abortion. As of January 30, Washington State is one of the former under House and Senate bill HJM-4009 stating:The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States specifically provides that,The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people;and The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being those powers specifically granted to it by the Constitution of the United States and no more.Earlier in January, New Hampshire enacted similar legislation (HCR-6) affirming States’ rights based on Jeffersonian principles. Other states doing it totally or in part include California, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Georgia. In addition, the following states are considering similar measures: Colorado, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Arkansas, Idaho, Alabama, Maine, Nevada, Hawaii and Alaska, and reportedly, Wyoming and Mississippi may as well.

Besides states rights issues, driving the current movement are:
– the grave and deteriorating economy;
– Wall Street’s harmful control over policy;
– its effects on checks and balances;
– excessive bailouts for an insolvent and corrupted banking system at the expense of local state budgets and rights; and
– reckless and unsustainable spending and national debt levels driving the nation to bankruptcy and placing untenable burdens on states.

Overall, concern is that Washington is complicit in driving the nation to ruin, and they want out or at least lean that way. If this movement gains strength, at the least it will slow deep integration, stall it for a considerable time, but won’t likely halt it. Corporate America wants it, and most often what it wants, it gets.It may just take longer than planned, much longer given the gravity of the global crisis, how hard it will be to resolve, and how long doing it will take. Some experts predict another Great Depression as bad or worse than the first one and far worse than Japan’s lost decades - from 1990 to the present.Top priority in world capitals and corporate boardrooms is preventing it if possible. Except for national security, other initiatives are secondary.

Conspiracists Push Bilderberger TheoryAOL

(March 15) - Another conspiracy theory surrounding President Barack Obama is making the rounds, according to Politico.com.

The latest one contends that many top officials in Obama's administration are involved in a clandestine global cabal bent on creating a one-world government that supersedes the United States. For decades, conspiracy theorists have viewed the Bilderberg group, an international organization made up of political, financial, academic and military heavyweights that comes together annually to discuss world affairs, as similar to the Trilateral Commission or the Council on Foreign Relations -- two groups comprised of influential movers and shakers who, some say, control world events from behind the scenes. And now, some in the Obama administration who have taken part in Bilderberg conferences in the past are gaining attention for their alleged involvement in a secret bid for worldwide domination.

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a Bilderberg participant who was recently nominated by Obama for the Health and Human Services secretary post, is the latest high-profile figure to be singled out. One conspiracy-minded Web site called PrisonPlanet.com said that if confirmed, Sebelius will be pleased to do the bidding of the Bilderbergers in the Obama administration. The fact that other top members of the Obama team -- economists Timothy Geithner, Larry Summers and Paul Volcker -- have participated in Bilderberg conferences has only added fuel to the fire. This latest theory comes just weeks after AOL ran a story about the Birthers, a group of conservatives who believes Obama is ineligible to be president because of alleged questions surrounding his birth status.

Conspiracy Theorists Scrutinize Obama Ties Politico: Many Of The President's Nominees Are Part Of A Secret Elite International Group Known As Bilderbergers WASHINGTON March 15, 2009 (The Politico) This story was written by Kenneth P. Vogel.

The highest levels of the Obama administration are infested with members of a shadowy, elitist cabal intent on installing a one-world government that subverts the will of the American people. It sounds crazy, but that’s what a group of very persistent conspiracy theorists insists, and they point to President Obama’s nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, as the latest piece of evidence supporting their claims. It turns out that Sebelius - like top administration economists Timothy Geithner, Larry Summers and Paul Volcker, as well as leading Obama diplomats Richard Holbrooke and Dennis Ross - is a Bilderberger. That is, she is someone who has participated in the annual invitation-only conference held by an elite international organization known as the Bilderberg group. The group, which takes its name from the Dutch hotel where it held its first meeting in 1954, exists solely to bring together between 100 and 150 titans of politics, finance, military, industry, academia and media from North America and Western Europe once a year to discuss world affairs. It doesn’t issue policy statements or resolutions, nor does it hold any events other than an annual meeting. Past participants have included Margaret Thatcher, who attended the 1975 meeting at Turkey’s Golden Dolphin Hotel, former media mogul Conrad Black, who has been to more than a dozen conferences, and Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, King Juan Carlos of Spain and top officials of BP, IBM, Barclays and the Bank of England. It is precisely that exclusive roster of globally influential figures that has captured the interest of an international network of conspiracists, who for decades have viewed the Bilderberg conference as a devious corporate-globalist scheme.

The fulminating is aggravated by Obama's preference for surrounding himself with well-credentialed, well-connected, and well-traveled elites. His personnel choices have touched a populist, even paranoid nerve among those who are convinced powerful elites and secret societies are moving the planet toward a new world order. Their worldview, characterized by a deep and angry suspicion of the ruling class rather than any prevailing partisan or ideological affiliation, is widely articulated on overnight AM radio shows and a collection of Internet websites. The video sharing website YouTube alone is home to thousands of Bilderberg-related videos. I don’t laugh at the people who claim that they understand the connections, but I’ve never really spent much time tracing that through, said Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), a former presidential candidate whose libertarian sensibilities have made him a darling of the Bilderberg conspiracists. The one thing that concerns me is that the people who surround Obama or Bush generally come from the same philosophic viewpoint and they have their organizations - they have the Trilateral Commission, the CFR [Council on Foreign Relations] and the Bilderbergers, and they’ve been around a long time. And my biggest concern is what they preach: Keynesian economics and interventionism and world planning,he said. While it's easy to dismiss the Bilder-busters as cranks, these voices have a way of making themselves heard on the margins of the debate in ways that can prove to be a real, if minor, distraction to Obama’s political team. Bill Clinton had trouble shaking rumors that he was behind a shady criminal syndicate operating out of the Mena airport. George W. Bush was sometimes portrayed as the puppet of clandestine Middle Eastern oil interests. Obama’s selection of numerous Bilderbergers for key posts certainly would verify their suspicions, said Paul, referring to fears of the group’s influence. And I don’t think it’s just Obama. Whether t’s the Republicans or the Democrats - Goldman Sachs generally has somebody in treasury. And the big banks generally have somebody in the Federal Reserve. And they’re international people, too. And they’re probably working very hard this weekend, with the G20. And they get involved in the IMF. But that is their stated goal. They do believe in a powerful centralized government and we believe in the opposite. One popular website, Prison Planet, greeted Sebelius’ nomination with the headline Obama Picks Bilderberger for Health Secretary.

It’s obvious why Bilderberg is a frequent target of conspiracy theorists, who’ve credited it with anointing aspiring presidents, selecting their running mates, creating the European Union and instigating the war in Iraq and the bombing of Serbia, among other coups. Bilderberg meetings are closed to the press, participants are asked not to publicly discuss the proceedings and the attendee list is only occasionally released. As a result, the group has come to be viewed as a more publicity-shy cousin to the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations - other influential international think tanks that are staples of fringe group conversation. Unlike Bilderberg, though, those organizations have opened their proceedings to public scrutiny, maintain websites and have long listed their members.

The Bilderberg group, in a rare press release last year, laid out a benign if vague mission: creating a better understanding of the complex forces and major trends affecting Western nations.Bilderberg is a small, flexible, informal and off-the-record international forum in which different viewpoints can be expressed and mutual understanding enhanced, read the press release, which noted that a list of participants would be available by phone request between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the second and third days of the conference. The Bilderberg conspiracists first pounced on the Obama connection during the 2008 campaign, when news leaked in May that the candidate, who at the time was closing in on the Democratic presidential nomination, had initially tapped former Fannie Mae chairman Jim Johnson, a top Bilderberger, to help him select a running mate. IRS filings show that Johnson as recently as 2006 was the treasurer of a non-profit group called American Friends of Bilderberg. The group has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to pay for meetings--including $125,000 in total contributions from Bilderberg stalwarts Henry Kissinger and David Rockefeller in 2005 and 2006 plus $25,000 in 2005 from the Washington Post, whose chairman Don Graham has attended in the past.

Johnson did not return a message inquiring about his role at Bilderberg.

The news further puts to rest any delusions that Bilderberg is a mere talking shop where no decisions are made, reported Prison Planet. It also ridicules once again any notion that an Obama presidency would bring change to the status quo of America being ruled by an unelected corporate and military-industrial complex elite. One month later, in June, Johnson was joined at the 2008 Bilderberg meeting by Geithner, Holbrooke, Summers and Ross, as well as Obama’s first choice for HHS secretary, Tom Daschle, and Sebelius, who at the time was included on some short lists of prospective Obama running mates and who also attended the 2007 meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. According to the Bilderberg press release, the meeting was designed to deal mainly with a nuclear free world, cyber terrorism, Africa, Russia, finance, protectionism, US-EU relations, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Islam and Iran.

Approximately two-thirds of the 140 expected attendees came from Europe, according to the release, and the rest from North America. Had the meeting been held outsie the United States, that might have been the end of the Obama angle. But the conference, which took place from June 5 through 8, was held at a heavily guarded hotel in Chantilly, Va. in suburban Washington-coincidentally overlapping with an Obama campaign event in the area. While Obama’s schedule indicated he was to fly home to Chicago for the weekend-and journalists were herded on a campaign plane under the impression they were headed there along with Obama-the future president slipped away for a private meetings and never actually boarded the flight. As it turned out, Obama secretly met that evening with Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington, D.C., but not before raising alarms among the Bilder-busters, who were convinced something was rotten in Chantilly. Prison Planet connected the dots and concluded Obama and Clinton met at the Bilderberg meeting, declaring that the complete failure of the mainstream media to report on the fact, once again betrays the super-secretive nature and influential reputation that the 54-year-old organization still maintains. It is now seems increasingly likely that the secret meetings with Bilderberg this weekend will herald the decision to name Hillary Clinton as Obama's VP candidate, predicted a sister site, Infowars.net.Even the snarky D.C.-based Wonkette blog weighed in, half-seriously positing that really, it sounds like Obama and Clinton rendezvoused at that creepy Bilderberg Group meeting, which is happening now, and which is so secret that nobody will admit they’re going, even though everybody who is anybody goes to Bilderberg.Curiously, though, the episode wasn’t the first time a Bilderberg meeting intersected with vice presidential selection machinations. In 2004, both Time magazine and the New York Times noted that then-Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C) had impressed Bilderbergers at that year’s conference in Stresa, Italy-roughly one month prior to his selection as Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) running mate-- when Edwards debated Republican Ralph Reed. Then, as in 2008, Jim Johnson led the vice presidential vetting. Time reported that then-Sen. Jon Corzine (D-N.J.) and Holbrooke attended and called Kerry with rave reviews about Edwards' debate skills. In its tick-tock of the vice-presidential selection process, the New York Times also noted the Bilderberg effect. His performance at Bilderberg was important, a friend of Kerry told the Times. He reported back directly to Kerry. There were other reports on his performance. Whether they reported directly or indirectly, I have no doubt the word got back to Mr. Kerry about how well he did.An attendee of the 2004 meeting dismissed the notion that Edwards’ Bilderberg performance helped land him on the Democratic ticket. It wasn’t because of his performance at the meeting - he was at the meeting because he was going to get picked said the attendee, who did not want to be identified breaching Bilderberg’s off-the-record rule. He was there as a surrogate for Kerry and to boost his foreign policy bona fides, said the attendee. Either way, the attendee contended, the Bilderberg conspiracy theories don’t make sense on their face, if only because the wide array of ideologies represented would make it difficult to reach consensus. There were so many different people there with so many different viewpoints that it belied the opportunity to really conspire, because obviously a Kissinger and a [prominent neoconservative Richard] Perle are going to come down in a very different place than say a Holbrooke or a Johnson, the attendee said.Besides, the attendee observed, it’s almost impossible to name a Bilderberger-free Cabinet. You’d be hard pressed to find an administration that hasn’t reahed into those ranks into the last 20, 30, 40 years.By Kenneth P. Carbon trading must be globally regulated By Simon Linnett
Last Updated: 9:27PM GMT 10 Nov 2008

Simon Linnett, Executive Vice-Chairman of Rothschild, has called for a new international body, the World Environment Agency, to regulate carbon trading. In a recently published paper, Trading Emissions, for the Social Market Foundation, Mr Linnett argues that the International problem of climate change demands an international solution. Unless governments cede some of their sovereignty to a new world body, he says, a global carbon trading scheme cannot be enforced and regulated.

The full paper - Social Market Foundation
An urgent global response. This was how Nicolas Stern described the problem of carbon dioxide emissions, in his recent review of the economics of climate change. The sense of an impending crisis infuses our all debates on this issue.Explaining regulationThe human causes of climate change are now well established. The overall measures we must take - a reduction of our emissions - is painfully obvious. But like a group of rabbits caught in the headlights, our actual means of escape remain unclear. We know what our end goals are, but how do we get there? How can governments achieve delivery?

The first step must be to recognise the scope of the problem. Unlike other pollutants, such as litter or nuclear waste, CO2 emissions have impact on a global level - and only on a global level. This means we have to deal with the issue internationally. The problem is literally too big for any one country to handle. Old alliances, divisions and special relationships are a meaningless hindrance.I believe it is essential that governments and the private sector work together to solve the problem. As a banker, I suppose I would say that, but only such a partnership will we be able to harness what Al Gore called the multitude of little solutions, which all add up to a better outcome.Only the private sector can successfully develop those solutions, but only governments can provide a framework for them to be applied internationally. As a banker, I also welcome the fact that the cap-and-trade system is becoming the dominant methodology for CO2 control. Unlike taxation, or plain regulation, cap-and-trade offers the greatest scope for private sector involvement and innovation.Furthermore, taxation and regulation can only be levied at local or national levels, whereas cap-and-trade can operate on a global level. And remember, the problem is global. But for the private sector to participate enthusiastically in a global carbon trading market, governments must collectively establish a robust framework within which trading can occur. It must be long, loud and legal:

Long: it is going to be around for a long time;
Loud: it will be the dominant mechanism for sponsoring changes in behaviour and we are going to make this perfectly clear to the world's people; and Legal: we will enforce it through law. A key implication of creating a legal yet global system of trading, is the loss of sovereignty it implies. Governments must be prepared to allow some subordination of national interests to this world initiative, on the issue of emissions. This need not mean a new system of government, above individual nations.

But it would mean a change to the way treaties are agreed and worded. Instead of saying we will cut emissions by x per cent by date y (pledges which are inevitably broken), such statements will have to morph to we will make our contribution to a scheme which cuts, across certain industries and gases, emissions by x per cent by date y.The European nations already do this, on certain issues, yielding sovereignty to the EU. And in time, the EU itself will eventually have to yield to a larger body -one which includes the economic powerhouses of India and China. The cynicism that greets such programmes is well known, since the Asian economies seem bent on rapid expansion. However, I believe that both India and China will soon recognise the benefits of joining a global carbon trading scheme.First, a properly constituted, one-member-one-vote system would mean that they have a proper say. More importantly, since the allocation of the emissions cap might trend towards recognising world populations rather than current levels of emission, both countries would stand to gain a great deal.If emissions trading could expand into different areas of economic activity, so too could its message. When an individual receives an electricity bill, they will come to know what the cost of turning on the gas or a light was to the environment.Perhaps they will gain a new appreciation of their burden on the broader world. Similarly, if the scheme were to expand geographically to include India, China and, ultimately, the US, so too could the prospect be realised of such allowances becoming the reserve currency of the world, taking over that role held for most of the 20th century by gold.So emissions trading could establish a new world order for a sustainable planet, one based on the sharing of the earth's ability to absorb harmful emissions. To allocate that resource fully and properly will, in turn, require resourcefulness and imagination across the globe.

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

IMF poised to print billions of dollars
Edmund Conway The Telegraph March 17, 2009

Alistair Darling and senior figures in the US Treasury have been encouraging the Fund to issue hundreds of billions of dollars worth of so-called Special Drawing Rights in the coming months as part of its campaign to prevent the recession from turning into a global depression. Should the move, which is up for discussion by the summit of G20 finance ministers this weekend, be adopted, it will represent a global equivalent of the Bank of England’s plan to pump extra cash into the UK economy. However, economists warned that the scheme could cause a major swell of inflation around the world as the newly-created money filters through the system. The idea has been suggested by a number of key figures, including billionaire investor George Soros and US Treasury adviser Ted Truman. Simon Johnson, former chief economist at the IMF, said: The principle behind it is that everyone would get bonus dollars and instead of the Federal Reserve having to print them, everyone gets them. The objective is to create a windfall of cash. However if everybody goes out and spends the money it could be very inflationary.

OPEC to keep present output By GEORGE JAHN, Associated Press Writer – Sun Mar 15, 4:16pm ET

VIENNA – OPEC tried on Sunday to nudge oil prices up by urging its members to stop overproducing, but the cartel decided not to cut current output levels which could have driven prices sharply higher.Explaining the decision, OPEC Secretary-General Abdalla el-Badri spoke of his organization's concern over ugly global economic times that overrode the desire to achieve a quick fix by setting a lower overall output for the 12-nation producer's club.We see people who are out of work, we see people in tents in the most rich countries, he told reporters. While OPEC's goal remains higher prices for its product, the time is not right for more radical measures, he said. The decision was sure to be welcomed by the U.S. and other major oil consuming countries, because setting lower output limits would could have jolted the already anemic world economy through a sudden price increase. It also reflected realization with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries that any action more drastic than calling for quota compliance at a time of global economic crisis could ultimately backfire in real terms, by further depressing demand and driving down prices. The OPEC decision came as the world took a breather from the usual relentless slew of bad news since the financial crisis became most acute last October. The Dow Jones industrial average is up around 10 percent this week, and most Asian and European markets also rose. However, governments and investors are wary of calling it the start of a turnaround. They have recognized the fact that they ought to be cutting, said trader and analyst Stephen Schork of Villanova, Pennsylvania. But they have taken into consideration that this could potentially set prices on fire, which would have retarded the nascent economic recovery that we have seen. The move, he said, sends a strong message to producer and consumer alike that we are all in this together — they need us to buy and we need to afford to be able to buy.

Still, more drastic measures could be enacted within a few months.

The ministers agreed to meet in special session on May 28 to review prices and supply. That gathering could decide to reduce the oil producing club's output levels, if the oil ministers think that crude prices remain too low and the global economy has improved.Cheap oil has been a rare bright spot in the otherwise gloomy world economic picture, selling in the mid- to upper-$30s this week — less than a third of its summer record levels. But while benefiting consumers, those prices have forced many OPEC members to revise spending and warn that they cannot invest in further oil production. Some OPEC nations had urged direct oil output cuts by setting lower levels, as the 12-nation organization usually does when it wants to raise prices. But OPEC's de-facto leader, Saudi Arabia, and others had instead favored calling on overproducing members to comply with their quotas as a way of reducing world oil supply without causing prices to rise rapidly.Cuts agreed on since September were meant to take a daily 4.2 million barrels off the market. But the 11 members that are under production quotas are still overshooting their joint daily target level of just under 25 million barrels by more than 800,000 barrels a day, or 21 percent above formal set limits. While 100 percent compliance with quotas is unlikely, even an additional 10 percent would take more than 400,000 barrels a day off markets, slicing into oversupply while reducing the price shock that an outright cut in existing quotas would have caused. We have urged our member countries to comply, said el-Badri. We have an overhang of 800,000 to 900,000 barrels. If we have more compliance, we can reduce it further.OPEC President Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos, Angola's oil minister, acknowledged the group had little authority to enforce quota compliance on cheating members. But he said the 12-nation producers' club would continue working with countries that are not complying, so that they do.London-based analyst John Hall said Angola was among those, producing a daily 130,000 barrels above its quota. He welcomed Sunday's decision as supporting rescue packages already announced by various governments seeking the way out of the economic crisis. Earlier Sunday, Russian Deputy Premier Igor Sechin announced that his country is reducing crude sales in an apparent boost for OPEC, which has repeatedly urged Russia for support as the world's second largest producer after the Saudis. At its peak in early 2008, Russia was producing 9.5 million barrels of crude a day. But those levels have been shrinking and the announced cuts could be just a way of dressing up Moscow's inability to keep up present output levels because of lagging investment that is expected to result in an output decline of around 2 percent this year. African leaders tell G20 crisis threatens chaos by Robin Millard Robin Millard – Mon Mar 16, 4:25 pm ET

LONDON (AFP) – Some African countries could go under if they are not helped through the global downturn, threatening total chaos and violence, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi warned the G20 on Monday. At a meeting of African leaders in London ahead of next month's summit of the Group of 20 rich and emerging countries, presidents and prime ministers from across the continent warned of the costs of ignoring Africa.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was meeting African leaders to hear their concerns about the world economic downturn in the G20 build-up.They should care about Africa because it is in their interests, Meles, who will attend the G20 as the chair of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), told reporters.Any stimulus money spent in developed countries is going to have less global impact than if the same amount of money were to be spent in Africa. Some countries could go under and that would mean total chaos and violence. In the end the cost of violence is going to be much higher than the cost of supporting Africa. We are talking about the range of money that is being spent on the mid-sized banks. Consider Africa as one of those banks.Meles said specific amounts were not discussed in London.Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf added: The cost of sustainability in reform and recovery is much, much less than the cost of peacekeeping were the crisis to engender a return to conflict.African countries are expected to be hit by falls in prices for commodities such as oil, gold, zinc and cooper, as well as drops in tourism, aid and money being sent home by workers in the developed world.Brown told the meeting that the global economic crisis should be used as an opportunity to move more quickly towards building a fairer and more equal world order.South Africa is the only African country in the G20, though NEPAD chairman Meles will attend the April summit, as will the AU Commission chairman.Meles said the African leaders believed they had won Brown's agreement on the fundamental issues of providing the continent with additional aid and greater ease of access to funds.

Among those attending Monday's gathering were Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, plus the finance ministers from South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Cape Verde and Rwanda. Eleven countries in total were represented.Central bank chiefs plus delegates from pan-African bodies, including the African Union, also attended.Kikwete warned: This is a very unprecedented problem. Africa is a victim. We are not responsible for its genesis but all of us are suffering.Odinga added: When there are problems in Africa, Africans will vote with their feet by coming to Europe. We want to retain those people in Africa by making conditions in Africa more attractive because otherwise they become a burden to Europeans.

World Bank urges Nigeria to diversify economy Mon Mar 16, 3:46 pm ET

ABUJA (AFP) – World Bank managing director Ngozi Okonjo Iweala urged Nigeria on Monday to use the financial crisis as an opportunity to diversify its economy away from the oil and gas sector.Iweala said the oil price collapse is by far the biggest component of the external shock that has hit the country and urged Nigeria to take steps to diversify its economy as part of its response to the current crisis. The crisis (...) is an opportunity to diversify and re-position the economy for steadier long-run growth, Iweala told a discussion in Abuja on the Global Financial Crisis: Impact and Implications for Nigeria.Iweala also said that foreign direct investment (FDI) and remittances to Nigeria would decline over this year and next compared with the level of 2008.The sum of FDI and remittances is expected to fall to around six billion dollars in 2009 from 8.2 billion dollars in 2008, said the former Nigerian finance minister.Iweala said that net FDI more than doubled from an annual average of around three billion dollars over 2001-2004 to 7.25 billion dollars over 2005-2007.

The bulk of FDI goes into oil and gas, banking and telecoms, so a sharp slowdown should not be surprising, Iweala said, describing as worrisome stagnant agricultural production. The farm sector is the only one that could power non-oil growth, she said.

Brown says should have curbed markets MAR 16,09

LONDON (AFP) – Prime Minister Gordon Brown has admitted in an interview that tougher action to curb the financial markets should have been taken a decade ago, when he was finance minister. He stopped short of apologising for the crisis, something many British media commentators insist he must do given he served as chancellor of the exchequer for a decade before taking over as prime minister from Tony Blair in June 2007.I take full responsibility for all my actions, but I think we're dealing with a bigger problem that is global in nature, as well as national, Brown told the Guardian newspaper.Perhaps 10 years ago after the Asian crisis when other countries thought these problems would go away, we should have been tougher... keeping and forcing these issues on to the agenda like we did on debt relief and other issues of international policy.Brown said the 40-year-old prevalent orthodoxy known as the Washington consensus in favour of free markets has come to an end.Laissez-faire has had its day. People on the centre-left and the progressive agenda should be confident enough to say that the old idea that the markets were efficient and could work things out by themselves are gone,he said. That doesn't mean to say that what government does is always right. What it means is that both government and markets have got to be underpinned by values. The newspaper said Brown also refused to rule out a further economic stimulus package in the budget planned for April.

Canada industry, wealth data show sharp downturn By David Ljunggren – Mon Mar 16, 1:35pm ET

OTTAWA (Reuters) – Canadian industries ran at a slower rate than predicted and household wealth suffered its biggest drop on record in the last quarter of 2008, according to latest in a string of gloomy data showing the depth of the economy's downturn. The capacity utilization rate -- the ratio of an industry's actual output to its potential output -- hit a record low of 74.7 percent in the last quarter, pulled down by weak domestic and foreign demand for manufactured goods, Statistics Canada said on Monday. The rate was worse than the 75.3 percent predicted by analysts, who have often been too optimistic when forecasting how badly the economic crisis is affecting Canada.Separately on Monday, Statscan said Canadian net household worth dropped by a record 4.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008, pushed down by the sharp decline in stock market prices. The drop was the largest since the agency began compiling the data in 1990.The reports come after the government agency said on Friday that Canada lost 82,300 jobs, 30,000 more than expected, adding to evidence that the economy's slide may be more severe than many had thought.Statscan said in its daily briefing on Monday that drop in the utilization rate was caused by a significant cutback in production among the majority of manufacturers led to the overall reduction in capacity. The fourth quarter rate was the worst since Statscan began tracking the data in 1987. The overall 2008 rate fell to a record low 77.8 percent from 82.1 percent in 2007.The Canadian dollar weakened from overnight highs following the report, though analysts said factors including the risk appetite of global investors and oil prices were more important factors.Overall, 16 of Canada's 21 manufacturing groups cut their capacity use. More than half the overall decline was caused by drops in three groups -- transportation equipment manufacturing, construction, and primary metal manufacturing. The report suggests that as consumer and export demand continue to wane, Canadian producers are increasingly retrenching activity, and slack is growing, said TD Securities strategist Millan Mulraine.

SINKING STOCKS HIT WEALTH

Last month Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney raised eyebrows by saying the Canadian economy would grow by 3.8 percent in 2010, although he said the forecast was subject to more doubt than usual.Speaking on Saturday, he said that many of the downside risks that we identified in our last monetary policy update are now materializing. The household wealth data showed Canadians took a hit to their pocketbooks even before the latest negative news. Statistics Canada said that on a per-capita basis, household net worth fell to C$165,300 ($130,200) in the fourth quarter, driven largely by the fall in stock markets. The agency noted the S&P/TSX composite index dropped by 24 percent from the end of the third quarter, pushed lower by big declines in energy stocks. It also noted that the decline was not as severe as in the United States, where household net worth fell by 9.0 percent in the fourth quarter. Our net worth is not shrinking as fast as the U.S. net worth largely because our house prices are not falling as fast as U.S. prices ... but it means less wealth this year for Canadians, said Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets. There are few signs that the economy is even starting to level out, much less start recovering. Data for January's manufacturing sales will be released on Tuesday, and analysts predict a 5.8 percent drop from December.(Additional reporting by Frank Pingue; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson and Frank McGurty)

The pain in Spain: Vultures are hungry, need meat Mon Mar 16, 1:43 pm ET

MADRID – Spanish vultures are hungry, even starving — and the regional government in Madrid plans to do something about it.European Union laws aimed at halting the spread of Mad Cow disease require the countryside to be kept clear of dead livestock even if they died of natural causes. But Juan Carlos Atienza of the Spanish Ornithological Organization says the lack of animal corpses since the law was introduced in Spain in 2002 has hit certain vultures very hard.Esperanza Aguirre, president of Madrid's regional government, said Monday the capital aims to ease the vultures' hunger by allowing some dead animals to remain.Atienza says the EU is studying a change that would allow some regions to leave carrion out.

US says it shot down Iranian drone last month By ROBERT H. REID, Associated Press Writer MAR 16,09

BAGHDAD – U.S. jets shot down an Iranian unmanned surveillance aircraft last month over Iraqi territory about 60 miles northeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Monday. A U.S. statement said the Ababil 3 was tracked for about 70 minutes before U.S. jets shot it down well-inside Iraqi airspace and that the aircraft's presence over Iraq was not an accident. An Iraqi official said the Iranian aircraft went down near the Iraqi border town of Mandali. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media. The Ababil is believed to have a maximum range of about 90 miles and can fly up to 14,000 feet. It is primarily designed for surveillance and intelligence-gathering.U.S. officials have frequently accused the Iranians of supplying weapons, training and money to Shiite extremist groups opposed to the U.S. military presence and to the U.S.-backed Iraqi government.Iran has denied links to militant groups inside Iraq and says the instability in this country is a result of the U.S. occupation. The Iranians consider the presence of about 140,000 U.S. troops in a neighboring country as a threat to their national security. In Baghdad, a U.S. soldier was fatally injured during combat operations Monday, the U.S. said in a statement. No further details were released. It was the first combat death reported by the U.S. military in Baghdad this month and the first among U.S. forces nationwide since March 7, when a soldier was killed in the Tikrit area.U.S. casualties have dropped sharply since Iraqi soldiers and police have taken a greater role in security. President Barack Obama has pledged to withdraw all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by September 2010.

American combat troops are due to leave bases in Baghdad and other cities by June 30 under an agreement that provides for all U.S. forces to leave the country by the end of 2011.Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki told The Associated Press on Sunday that U.S. troops may stay in some areas that are not completely secure even after the June 30 date.He did not identify those areas, but U.S. and Iraqi troops are still trying to secure Mosul, the country's third-largest city where al-Qaida and other Sunni militant groups remain active. Also Monday, a 12-year-old girl was killed when American soldiers fired at a vehicle speeding toward them and Iraqi police near Mosul, said the U.S. military. The military said the girl was standing about 100 yards (meters) behind the vehicle and was struck by a round. But Iraqi police said the girl was shot while in a car with her father. The discrepancy could not be immediately explained.Meanwhile, an Iranian opposition group said Monday that Iraqi troops tightened their siege of a camp north of Baghdad where about 3,500 of their members have been based for about 20 years. The People's Mujahedeen said Iraqi troops have prevented food and fuel from reaching Camp Ashraf for the past six days — despite written guarantees by the Iraqi government that it would guarantee human rights of the residents. But Iraqi national security adviser Mouwaffak al-Rubaie branded the allegations totally baseless. He said People's Mujahedeen members had taken over a building belonging to the Iraqi army and were preventing soldiers from entering it.They have a huge propaganda machine all over the world and are known to exaggerate things, added al-Rubaie, whom the People's Mujahedeen said was behind the alleged crackdown.Iran and the United States consider the People's Mujahedeen a terrorist group and Tehran has stepped up pressure on the Iraqis to close the camp. Iraq took over security for the camp from the U.S. on Jan. 1. But the Iraqi government promised the U.S. that it would not force the group's members to leave against their will. The People's Mujahedeen opposed Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi during the 1979 revolution but fell out with the clerical regime that replaced him.

Saddam Hussein allowed the group to set up a camp during the Iran-Iraq war for staging raids across the border inside Iran.U.S. troops disarmed the fighters and confined them to Camp Ashraf after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam. Also Monday, residents of the Kurdish town of Halabja marked the 21st anniversary of the March 16-17 poison gas attack by Saddam's forces against Kurdish separatists. The 1988 attack killed thousands of people and was the biggest use of chemical weapons against a civilian populated area in history.Local officials and victims' relatives placed wreaths on a monument to the dead. The anniversary has become etched in the memory of many people, said Aras Abbadi, who lost 21 relatives in the attack.Every year, we wait for the anniversary and condemn that deplorable attack committed by a dictatorial regime against its own people.Another participant, Mariam Saleh, 59, pointed to a photograph on display that shows a truck full of victims.
