The IDF’s General Staff Forum held a toast on Thursday, ahead of Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Ha’atzmaut) celebrations which will take place next Tuesday.
During the ceremony, which took place at the IDF’s Rabin Base in the Kirya in Tel Aviv, Chief of Staff Benny Gantz thanked the IDF’s commanders and soldiers for their tireless efforts to ensure the safety and security of the land and people of Israel.
These are not ordinary days, said Gantz.The Middle East is undergoing jolts and changes and we are studying them in depth.In addition to celebrating our independence, added Gantz,we must also remember those who have died in Israel’s wars as well as their families.Gantz concluded his remarks by wishing all Israelis a happy Independence Day.Also present at the toast was Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who said that he is happy to meet all the members of the General Staff right before Yom Ha’atzmaut. We are all steering the wheel of the most important field – the security field. I do not think that there is a body in Israel that is so much appreciated by the citizens for the way it fulfills its mission.Barak added that the momentum of activity, in circles both near and far, and the extraordinary success of the Iron Dome system are a correct response and a step in the right direction. We must continue and deepen our activities in all areas.

Barak also addressed Israel’s upcoming Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism, which will be observed on Monday, and noted that we are all obligated to remember and remind others of those who are no longer with us. Israel has decided to pay Germany the mark-up on a $1billion Dolphin-class submarine, officials announced Thursday.Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had lobbied German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier this year to underwrite a significant portion of the purchase, but Berlin balked at discounting Israel's sixth Dolphin as it tightens its belt amidst global economic downturn. Germany has, in the past, sold submarines to Israel at steep discounts as a show of solidarity with the Jewish state, which was founded in the wake of the Holocaust.A special ministerial committee decided to accept the recommendation of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who lobbied for the purchase, despite the price-tag. Israel currently operates three Dolphins, and purchased two more from Germany in 2006.Those submarines are expected to be delivered later this year.The purchase of Israel's sixth Dolphin was approved over the objection of senior IDF officers. [He said] Europe is not to be saved by any single man. England has saved herself by her exertions, and will, as I trust, save Europe by her example.

Placing the US first in a list of UK strategic priorities, the EU second, Brazil third and Turkey fourth, he emphasised British bilateral relations over its co-operation with the 27-member European bloc.I have never believed that the EU could or should act as if it were a nation state with a national foreign policy. Any attempt by EU institutions to do so would end in embarrassing failure, he said. Over the last year we have placed a renewed emphasis on bilateral relations, alongside Britain's role in multilateral institutions.The speech reflects traditional Conservative Party policy and Britain's eurosceptic culture. But it comes at a testing time for the EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, a member of the Tories' rival Labour Party.Ashton has over the past year tried to forge a single EU foreign policy on divisive issues such as the Middle East peace process and the Arab spring. EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Characterised by silence on important foreign policy issues, with little long-term strategy and poor management of her agenda - Belgium's foreign minister has painted a damning picture of EU high representative Catherine Ashton.

British, centre-left and female, Ashton's surprise appointment to the EU's top foreign policy post in late 2009 has on many occasions been characterised as an unattractive European stitch-up, but Steven Vanackere's criticism of the EU foreign relations chief on Wednesday (4 May) is the first dressing down handed out by a senior official in public.While French President Nicolas Sarkozy is known to be among those who have behind closed doors criticised the former EU trade commissioner's grasp of foreign policy, Vanackere and the recent Belgian EU presidency had up till now studiously supported Ashton as the Union's voice in the area.But in an interview with Belgian daily Le Soir, the former Ashton ally said she has failed over the past year to get the bloc of 27 member states speaking with one voice, a goal the highly-paid EU official set herself at the outset.When I speak of impatience, I think chiefly about the Union's capacity to speak with one voice, said Vanackere, describing the recent turmoil in Arab states as the great test.In the absence of a central player that reacts, makes analyses and conclusions quickly, it is the Germans today, the French tomorrow or the English who partially take up this role ... The result is centrifugal, not centripetal.How can one resolve this problem? The Belgian diplomatic service will continue to push Ashton and her [external action] service towards strong positions. Failing that, if there is silence and this silence is occupied by France, Germany etc., Belgium will search for partners in other countries.Vanackere acknowledged that there was a tussle for power between different EU institutions at the moment, and that it is impossible for Ashton to be in all places at once.However, this only magnified the need to correctly assess the Union's top priorities, he said, as well as to adopt a well-thought-out medium and long-term analytical approach.One must make choices, concentrate on the key issues, avoid getting lost in the details, manage one's agenda. We can accept that some react faster than Ashton, but with the condition that she can prove that she is working for the medium-term and long-term on very important issues like energy, for example. But I have not seen this either.The minister, whose monthly meetings with other EU foreign ministers are now chaired by Ashton under the EU's Lisbon Treaty, said the high representative's analysis had failed to bring any new insights to the table.During the Belgian Presidency, there was a debate about our relationship with strategic partners. I found the analysis prepared by the staff of Ashton rather disappointing. It was an inventory of what people who watch the world already know: China is important, emerging markets, be careful ...A spokesperson for Ashton refuted the allegations, saying the high representative had picked well-defined foreign policy priorities.On the Arab Spring, it's very clear where we are going, in the short, medium and long term,Michael Mann told this website. Ashton has been at the forefront of placing sanctions against states such as Libya, and at the forefront of long-term post-Gaddafi political decision-making.
He also defending Ashton's ability to manage her busy schedule: I don't think the comparison with Van Rompuy's agenda is valid as they both do completely different jobs.Just this week she had a major success in New York securing EU representation, yesterday she attended a commission meeting in Brussels on the EU's future budget, and today she will attend a meeting of the contact group on Libya in Rome.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - If Europe is to remain relevant as an innovative economy, people need to be more positive and entrepreneurial and not let themselves be depressed by the economic crisis and subsequent austerity measures, EU council chairman Herman Van Rompuy has said.Innovation has a lot to do with behaviour, risk taking, motivation and education. You can't have a society of very creative people only based on financial stimulus, the former Belgian premier said Wednesday (4 May) during a conference organised by Ernst&Young on innovation and the role of government in supporting it.Van Rompuy said that societal problems in Belgium and elsewhere in the EU mean that people live in a climate of despair and are depressed.

But in order for Europe to remain at the cutting edge of innovation in areas ranging from energy to agriculture, services and digital technologies, we need a dynamic and positive society, based on competition but also on generosity.The financial and subsequent economic crises can help, he said, noting that in the past year, EU institutions have evolved a lot.But crisis can be very depressive. Only negative messages from leaders are the wrong message coming out of the crisis. The positive outlook is key for a dynamic society,he stressed.Noting that according to the EU's own estimates, the bloc will fall behind Asia and the US by 2025 in terms of innovation, Van Rompuy said he will not let EU leaders hide behind nice pledges, after they agreed earlier this year to give priority to areas such as education, innovation and energy.We will not allow this process to become a slow bureaucratic exercise, but we will follow it closely, he said.At an upcoming EU summit mid-June, a first assessment of these policies and country-specific recommendations will be made.Early 2012, I want to know what member states concretely did in the one year period to boost innovation, even in harsh times of austerity. What did they do to increase the share of innovative products and services in public procurement, to stimulate green growth, to prove the use of EU funding allocated to research and innovation, Van Rompuy said.

His remarks on lack of innovation in Belgium was echoed by the CEO of the country's national railway company (NMBS), Marc Descheemaecker.In a video interview for the EUobserver, Descheemaecker said: Innovation is very important for us, because although we are a classical industry – transport industry – we have to do more – move more people and goods – with fewer means.In Belgium we need incentives, partnerships with the government, in order to develop an innovative platform. We have to be more entrepreneurial, we need more new businesses starting up, we need young, fresh, creative people starting up their own businesses – that's a bit lagging behind at this point in time, Descheemaecker said.When asked why, the CEO said because Belgium has a high standard of living and comfort.Need also drives creation. If you are too comfortable, well installed in your sofa, you don't feel the urge to go and start creating, start innovating things,he noted.His view of the government being an important driver of innovation was however contradicted by Geert Noels, a leading Belgian economist and author of Econoshocks.If innovation would depend on public stimulus and subsidies, it wouldn't be called innovation. TOKYO (AFP) – Workers entered a reactor building at Japan's stricken nuclear plant Thursday for the first time since an explosion hit the facility a day after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, officials said.Wearing gas masks and protective suits with oxygen tanks on their backs, two workers stepped into the building housing reactor number one -- one of four reactors badly damaged at the Fukushima Daiichi plant -- to gauge radiation levels.It was the first entry into the reactor building by our plant workers since the explosion, said Satoshi Watanabe, a spokesman for operator Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).We are sending workers as a small group for a maximum of 10 minutes so that radiation they will be exposed to can be limited, Watanabe added.The company later sent in more workers to set up a ventilation system to filter radioactive material out of the air within the reactor building, the officials said.We have completed work to place eight ducts inside the facility for the air-cleaning system, said Taisuke Tomikawa, another TEPCO spokesman.

The operation went smoothly with no major troubles today, and the radiation the workers were exposed to was so far lower than originally expected, Tomikawa said.We plan to operate the system for a few days so that we can reduce radiation to around one twentieth of the current level inside the facility, he added.TEPCO will then begin building a new cooling system outside the reactor -- with water pipes connecting it to heat exchange equipment inside -- in a bid to regulate temperatures in the reactor since it began overheating following the twin natural disasters.
Workers have been dousing the reactors and fuel rod pools with water to cool them and prevent a meltdown.TEPCO plans to complete construction of the new cooling system in late May or early June, local media said. Engineers aim to achieve stable cold shutdowns towards the end of the year.The reactor had been too dangerous for humans to enter. TEPCO had sent in remote-controlled robots to gauge radiation and temperature levels in the reactor building, which was damaged by a hydrogen explosion.Separately, TEPCO said it planned to raise water levels inside the containment vessel of the number one reactor by adding another two tonnes of water to step up efforts to cool the entire atomic furnace.Powerful aftershocks rattled Japan's Pacific coast on Friday, one measuring magnitude 6.1, according to the US Geological Survey, though no damage was reported or tsunami warnings issued.

The Fukushima plant, northeast of Tokyo, was engulfed by the monster tsunami triggered by the nation's biggest earthquake on record, and rocked by a series of explosions and fires.It has been releasing radioactive materials into the environment in the world's worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl in 1986.No one has died so far from radiation, but 85,000 people have left their homes near the plant due to radiation fears and Japan has enforced a 20-kilometre (12-mile) no-go zone around the facility.On Wednesday, TEPCO said levels of radioactive substances had jumped in the Pacific seabed near the plant. Environmental group Greenpeace has begun testing water samples from the ocean.

Floodwaters threaten well-to-do Memphis enclave

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Mud Island, which juts into the Mississippi, pays homage to the mighty river with an elaborate scale model of it, a museum about its history, and a paddlewheel steamboat that looks like something straight out of Huckleberry Finn.
But now Mud Island is getting too much of the Mississippi.Rising waters practically lapped at the back porches of some of the island's expensive houses Thursday, and homeowners weighed whether to stay or go.Up and down Ol' Man River, from Illinois to Louisiana, thousands faced the same decision as high water kept on rolling down the Mississippi and its tributaries, threatening to swamp communities over the next week or two. The flooding is already breaking high-water records that have stood since the 1930s.I'm going to sleep thinking,I hope they don't evacuate the island and we wake up and we're the only ones here,said Emily Tabor, a first-year student at the University of Tennessee's College of Pharmacy in Memphis who lives on Mud Island.

Mud Island, a three-mile-long strip of land that is part of Memphis, has about 1,500 homes and businesses and 6,000 mostly well-off residents, many of them living in gleaming, 20-year-old houses with wide river views and traditional Southern touches such as columns, porches and bay windows.Tourists can take a tram or drive across a small bridge to visit Mud Island's park, amphitheater and a museum devoted to life on the Mississippi. Among the exhibits: the Theater of Disasters Gallery, which recounts steamboat accidents and other tragedies on the river.Emergency officials warned that residents may need to leave their homes as the river rises toward an expected crest next Wednesday of 48 feet — about 3 feet higher than on Thursday. The record in Memphis, 48.7 feet, was set in 1937.On Thursday, the Mississippi spilled over a park and onto Riverside Drive in downtown Memphis. Water pooled at the lowest end of Beale Street, the most famous thoroughfare in the history of the blues, but it was about a half-mile from the street's popular restaurants, shops and bars and did not threaten any homes or businesses.In south Memphis, Maria Flores spent her fourth day in a church shelter with her husband and three children. They had to flee their trailer in the low-lying working-class Memphis suburb of Millington when it was swamped by stinky, dirty water. They have no flood insurance, and sleeping in a room with 20 other people, including crying children, has proved difficult.

We don't have money, we don't have anything, Flores said.It's like a bad dream we can't wake up from. I just want this water to go away.Farther south, the Mississippi Delta was starting to flood, too. In Greenville, Miss., the yacht club was submerged and two floating casinos were closing down. In Rolling Fork, the birthplace of bluesman Muddy Waters, Highway 61 was expected to become impassable.It's weird, said Lakeysha Stamps, a waitress at the Highway 61 Cafe.Here we are today and everything's fine. And tomorrow there could be all this water.On Mud Island, meanwhile, the Mississippi engulfed a riverside park and bike path. At the private Maria Montessori School in the wealthy, 500-home Harbor Town section, several feet of light brown river water inundated the garden. Students and teachers built a sandbag wall to keep the water out of their classrooms.We've done our best to protect our building. This is very scary to me,principal Maria Cole said.Russell Carter, who owns a pizza restaurant in Harbor Town, said he plans to stay with his wife and 9-month old daughter, mainly to protect his home and his business from the water and possible looters.He said he is not too worried because he knows neighbors in the community he described as Mayberry without Barney Fife will be there to help if there's trouble. They are planning to hold a flood party Saturday.I've got too much invested, Carter said.I'm not going to leave what I've worked for and what my family has worked for.

Elsewhere in the flood zone Thursday:
• In Kentucky, authorities closed 250 roads in 50 counties. The Coast Guard rescued at least 28 people, 12 cats, and three dogs from rising waters.
• In Missouri, the Army Corps of Engineers blew a third hole in a levee to relieve pressure and prevent catastrophic flooding there and in Illinois and Kentucky. The Mississippi continued to rise in Caruthersville, where a high-mark set in 1937 was surpassed on Wednesday, but was generally going down elsewhere in the state. The water was expected to crest Sunday in Caruthersville at 49.5 feet, just a half-foot below the top of the floodwall protecting the community of 6,700.
• In Louisiana, National Guardsmen used sandbags to fortify levees in the northeast part of the state, and the state penitentiary stood ready to evacuate prisoners. Officials were planning to open a spillway in the southern part of the state to divert river water.
_In Arkansas, truckers tried to rearrange their routes to avoid a 23-mile stretch of Interstate 40, a major link between the East and West coasts, where the rising White River forced the closing of the westbound lanes. NEW YORK – When Goldman Sachs Group Inc. executives and shareholders gather Friday morning for the company's annual meeting, the room might look a little like a house of worship.A coalition of religious groups headed by a nun, a priest and the CEO of a Jewish organization will be there to press Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to evaluate whether it's paying executives too much. Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein will have no choice but to listen. The group has won a coveted spot on the annual meeting agenda.

The religious contingent also wants the investment bank to evaluate the pay discrepancy between high-paid workers and those at the bottom. And they're asking the company to explain something many shareholders want to know: why compensation for Goldman's top five executives rose to $69.6 million in 2010 even as profits and revenues have declined.The Nathan Cummings Foundation, which says is rooted in Jewish tradition, along with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia and the Benedictine Sisters of Mount Angel, have introduced a shareholder resolution that asks the investment bank to evaluate whether its compensation packages for senior executives are excessive and should be modified. The resolution calls on Goldman to publicly report its findings by October 1.Sister Nora Nash of the Sisters of Saint Francis says the group's mission is primarily about getting better returns. Her order of nuns and the other religious groups are long-term shareholders of Goldman; their retirement savings are at stake when outsized pay packages limit dividends or growth. (The groups declined to say how many shares of Goldman they owned, but most are held through investments in various funds.)When we see CEOs earning over 300 times more than the typical worker, it raises serious questions for shareholders on whether they are really (that) valuable, says Sister Nash, who has been a nun for 50 years.As evidence, she and other members of the religious coalition point to a new study from the Council of Institutional Shareholders and a review by Kenneth Feinberg, who served as the White House's special master on Wall Street pay. The studies show financial services companies have overpaid executives and that high compensation damages shareholders because it leaves less money for other investments and dividend payments.

Sister Nash will make a presentation at the annual meeting to try to win shareholder support for the resolution. Shareholders can vote on the measure Friday. Company officials tried to have the proposal removed from the agenda but the Securities and Exchange Commission — which approves such exclusions_ rebuffed the effort.It might be hard to ignore nuns and priests at a shareholder meeting of an investment bank, but what matters to shareholders is the substance of the proposal, experts say.If the resolution resonates with other investors, it will pass, said Charles Elson, director of the Weinberg Center for corporate governance at the University of Delaware.For the last several years, Goldman has been the target of public outrage over its outsize compensation for top executives. That anger was fueled by a record $68 million bonus for Blankfein in 2007, just before the financial crisis began. Last year, Goldman was unsuccessfully sued by some shareholders who said compensation levels were too high at the firm.Everybody deserves to be rewarded for their work, said Father Seamus Finn of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who plans to attend the meeting.But our culture has created the star corporate CEO whose work doesn't deliver the kind of value warranted by that status.

The group says the significant compensation increases given to Goldman execs weren't merited. The firm's profits and revenue declined dramatically and it was forced to pay out $550 million to settle an SEC fraud lawsuit. However, Blankfein's total 2010 compensation, which includes salary and bonus, rose to $14.1 million after falling to just over $1 million in 2009. Overall, the pay of its top five executives in 2010 rose 12 times from the previous year, to $69.6 million. (In contrast, U.S. workers earn an average of $40,790 annually and average hourly earnings fell 1 percent last year, according to government statistics.)In 2010, the bank's net income fell 37 percent to $7.71 billion and its revenue slid 13 percent to $39.16 billion. Earlier this week, U.S. senators led by Democratic Senator Carl Levin of Michigan asked the Justice Department to investigate Goldman and other firms for their role in the financial crisis. Last year, Goldman shelled out the largest penalty ever by a Wall Street firm to settle allegations that the bank had committed fraud.The pay issue is even more important when $550 million of shareholder money is used to settle a fraud investigation, said Lance Lindblom, CEO of the Nathan Cummings Foundation. All we're asking for is a study to see whether those levels are excessive and whether they can justify this level of compensation given that performance.In a regulatory filing for shareholders, Goldman says that preparation of such a report would be a distraction for the board of directors and be an unjustified cost to the firm. The investment bank also argues that documents, like the firm's annual proxy statement, are already publicly available. Goldman would not comment on the proposal and instead pointed to the regulatory filing.

Goldman faces two other shareholder votes related to executive pay. One is the result of government rules passed last year which require most public companies to give investors a vote on what it pays its executives. Like other pay proposals, the results are not binding, which means the companies can ignore what shareholders say. But wide dissent from shareholders can draw unwanted attention to a CEO's pay. And companies with negative votes on their pay plans must to disclose how the vote impacted their pay decisions in the statements they file with regulators.A similar resolution to the one the religious groups have proposed was on the agenda last year. Just 5.48 percent of shareholders voted in support, says Sister Nash, whose group co-filed that resolution. Despite the intense focus on pay, there's no indication that the new proposal will get a majority of the vote this year. For her part, Sister Nash hopes this year's effort will win at least some additional support and lead to change at Goldman.

Commodities rout spurs selling on Wall Street

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Wall Street stock indexes fell for a fourth straight day on Thursday as a massive sell-off in commodities spilled over into other markets, forcing investors out of higher-risk assets and rattling equities markets before Friday's U.S. payrolls data.Oil suffered the biggest one-day price drop ever for the Brent futures contract, which settled down 8.6 percent at $110.80 per barrel. That drove oil shares lower, making the energy sector (.GSPE) the worst performer on the S&P as it fell 2.3 percent.The CBOE volatility index (.VIX) jumped above its 50-day average before closing up 6.6 percent at 18.20, its highest closing level since March 28. The move signals investors are willing to pay more for protection for their equities exposure.Adding to a recent spate of poor economic data, weekly applications for unemployment insurance rose to an eight-month high, setting off alarms a day before the April unemployment report.It may very well be the case that the commodity price bubble has burst, said Hugh Johnson, chief investment officer of Hugh Johnson Advisors in Albany.

Silver prices were set for the deepest weekly decline in nearly 30 years. The iShares Silver Trust exchange-traded fund (SLV.P) tumbled 11.9 percent on its highest volume ever, near 295 million shares. Its 50-day volume average stands below 60 million shares.The Reuters/Jefferies CRB index (.CRB) that tracks commodity prices fell 4.9 percent and was on track for its biggest weekly fall since late 2008.
The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) dropped 139.41 points, or 1.10 percent, to 12,584.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) fell 12.22 points, or 0.91 percent, to 1,335.10. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) lost 13.51 points, or 0.48 percent, to 2,814.72.The S&P 500 fell through its 14-day average, but still closed above 1,333 -- a level that could become an important market support, limiting future losses.About 9.26 billion shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE Amex and Nasdaq, in a third consecutive trading day with volume above the year's average, indicating investors are selling with conviction.Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones by a ratio of about 8-to-5 on both the NYSE and Nasdaq exchanges.Consumer-related shares also fell but were the best performers as the drop in crude was seen lessening the financial burden on individuals of high gasoline prices.

Syrian Tanks Deploy Around Banias in North

Syrian military forces deployed near the northern coastal city of Banias Thursday. Eyewitnesses saw dozens of soldiers and several tanks outside the city.A resident of Banias called the situation very worrisome.Earlier Thursday, Syrian forces reportedly began pulling out of Dara'a in southern Syria, after besieging the town for more than a week.United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said during the day that he had spoken with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and complained to him about violations of human rights in suppression of the protests in the country. He said that he had called on Assad to advance reforms before it is too late.French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé said that France and other EU countries were drawing up sanctions to be placed upon Syria's leaders. Federal Judge allows California Imam with suspected links to Hezbollah back into US despite Homeland Security objections-CAIR involved in helping Imam Nabi Raza Mir return to US By Lee Kaplan, investigator, communications director

Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi) is the Imam of The Shia Association of the Bay Area (SABA) Mosque, an Islamic center located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, in San Jose, California. SABA’s leadership has been known to endorse the anti-American Khomeinist regime in Iran and the activities of the Lebanon-based international terrorist group Hezbollah.The Northern California mosque’s previous imam, a man named Rafic Labboun, is currently in US prison for credit card fraud that may be linked to fund-raising activities by Hezbollah for money raised in the United States for use abroad as a part of the terrorist group’s activities. Nabi Raza Mir, who has been Labboun’s replacement since 2002, but is not yet a US citizen, left the US temporarily with his family late December, 2010 allegedly to visit his sick mother, but was denied admittance back into the US for his return by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The United States Government did this ostensibly because of his open ties and support of the Khomeini regime in Iran. Nabi Raza Mir Rafic Labboun.So, does Nabi Raza Mir really pose a threat to national security? It is important to understand where this mullah comes from and the movement he and his relatives spouse from the SABA Islamic Center. Mir’s first permanent residence petition (an I-360 document in U.S. Immigration parlance) was filed by the Shia Association of the Bay Area in 2004 and was repeatedly denied up to as late as December 2006 under the Bush administration. A second I-360 petition to grant him permanent US residence was applied for by SABA back in June of 2007, one year before President Obama took office and was denied in November of that same year. An appeal was filed by SABA and after wending its way through the US courts for three years (Mir was still practicing as the imam and running his business in the Silicon Valley Mosque during this whole time) it was denied in 2011 under the new Obama Administration. If the Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Obama Administration also felt he was a security risk, there must have been more to this cleric than meets the eye. In fact, part of this denial was based on new anti-terrorism laws designed to keep individuals with potential terrorism links out of the United States.

Needless to say, Attorney General Eric Holder’s passion for wanting to get the Gitmo detainees released should suggest that if even he also wants Mir kept out of the country there must be a good reason for it. As mentioned, Mir comes from a remote village in India called Alipur that is a Khomeinist stronghold with strong allegiances to the Iranian regime. He has been staying there pending his legal appeals along with his wife, Gulshan Zahera, and their three younger sons who were also named as plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the US government. Judge Jeremy Fogel handed down a stipulation agreed to by Mir’s lawyers and US Attorney Melissa S. Liebman just a few days ago that will allow the Khomeinist mullah and his family to come back to California.The Shia Association of the Bay Area is also working hard behind the scenes to try to get Rafic Labboun released early from prison. That the Shiite Mosque would seek to import another impassioned Hezbollah activist and supporter of the Iranian regime should be alarming enough, but their attempts to release a convicted man, a criminal, with links to a terrorist organization reveal motives that go against the security of every American. Members of the Mosque even distributed a music video calling for Labboun’s release with an image of an armed Malcolm X in the visuals that is very disturbing.The original lawsuit seeking to allow Nabi Raza Mir back into the United States was filed by the Mosque with the help of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), according to the Mosque’s website. CAIR has been accused of being a Hamas front by members of Congress and is mainly Sunni Moslem inspired. Sunnis and Shiites, as two different sects of Islam do not normally agree, but have been cooperating together in this case because of their mutual animus toward Israel and against the United States.

The legal case was filed as a writ of mandamus, a specific lawsuit that seeks to have government ministers or officials adhere to strict interpretations of the law to fulfill specific functions. In this case, Nabi Raza Mir and his family, it was alleged, were being prevented from returning to the US based on new anti-terrorism laws that Homeland Security sought to use to keep the imam out of the US as a security threat. However, the lawyers for Mir successfully argued that this clergyman should be subject to laws as they were written at the time Mir applied for residency in the United States. Federal Judge Jeremy Fogel agreed with San Francisco attorneys Christine Brigagliano and Marc Vanderhout, both immigration attorneys from the firm representing SABA Mosque, that such was the case.
Marc Vanderhout Christine Brigagliano.It should come as no surprise that Mr. Vanderhout and Ms. Brigagliano, Nabi Raza Mir’s attorneys, are both members, and Vanderhout has even been a past president of, the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), a radical legal organization some historians have stated was originally started in the 1930’s by Josef Stalin to shield the American communist party from investigations by the US government. The NLG has in the past been described as a subversive organization by authorities within the US government and the organization currently throws its support behind Palestinian terrorist groups such as Hamas and is an integral part of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a communist-anarchist front for the Palestinian revolution. The legal organization is even mentioned in ISM training manuals as a resource to be used to help bring down Israel.

The National Lawyers Guild makes as its purpose to support America’s enemies within US borders, so Vanderhout’s and Brigagliano’s affiliations with the organization should come as no surprise. This makes sense since as one prominent NLG member and Rutgers University School of Law Professor Arthur Kinoy has argued that the role of the radical lawyer was to facilitate the coming anti-capitalist revolution by weakening the law’s ability to function effectively against law-breaking radicals. The two attorneys representing Nabi Raza Mir and his family held that Homeland Security’s concerns for the safety of US citizens should not be enforceable based on newer counter terrorism laws because he wasn’t considered a security threat before. Judge Jeremy Fogel apparently agreed.Sajjad Mir, another individual from the same clan as Nabi Raza Mir, is the Chairman of the Shia Association of the Bay Area and the CEO of a Silicon Valley firm called Hastest Solutions, Inc., with offices located in the same building as the Mosque in an industrial area of San Jose, California. Hastest Solutions tests the viability of products and systems of other companies and has even been involved with high security U.S. military weapons systems produced by the Raytheon Corporation. A similar case involving businesses owned by individuals who support regimes that suborn terrorism having access to sensitive government groups or projects within the US involved the SAAR Foundation prosecutions where supporters of Al Qaeda held religious offices and private businesses also in the same buildings in Northern Virginia. The difference this time, is that while the SAAR Foundation was made up of Sunni Moslems who were supporters of Hamas and Al Qaeda, some who developed relationships in the US government and FBI, the SABA Mosque is open in its support of the Shia Moslems in Iran and of Khomeini’s revolutionary government that declares the United States the Great Satan and Israel as the Minor Satan.Terrorism support entities when ultimately proven and prosecuted in the US usually follow the same patterns of behavior, infiltration, indoctrination and subversion. In the event the US goes to war with Iran, there certainly could be the possibility of some individuals indoctrinated by the SABA Mosque’s leadership joining internal cadres in the US to attack from within. Loyalty to the US is totally absent at SABA Mosque, but allegiance to the regime of Ali Khameini in Iran exists there. Reverend Jeremiah Wright isn’t the only religious leader who refuses to say, God Bless America.According to a news flash on the SABA Mosque’s website newsletter , Our beloved Leader/Imam Maulana Nabi Raza Mir (Abidi), was unfairly forced to stay in India by US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) while he was visiting his critically ill mother. SABA is filing a case in the district court to order DHS to allow him to return home to be with his family and the community.

Speaking of family, the main allies of Nabi Raza Mir in the SABA Mosque back in Alipur are his relatives with the same physical traits and political points of view. A recent video that appears on You Tube featured one of Mir’s close relatives in Alipur giving an inflammatory speech in support of the Ali Khameini regime in Iran and screaming Kaybar, Kaybar, Ya Yahud! an exhortation to exterminate the Jews referring to a historical passage in the Koran where Mohammed wiped out a Jewish community and beheaded its male population. The speaker in the video is Qayeem Abbas who is another imam in Alipur and a family relative of Mir’s. Another Toronto-based imam under the watch of Canadian intelligence and known Hezbollah sympathizer, Zaki Baqri, is also related to Mir. All these men are members of the so-called Sadat caste as recognized back in Alipur, which openly seeks to dominate and rule the world and sees it as their right to do so. Both mullahs carry the titles Syed (Arabic/Persian/Urdu for master) and Maulana (Arabic for our lord) as evidenced the Mosque’s newsletter. In this bizarre system, there are two classes of people: Masters and non-masters. So if these are the masters, what are they teaching the non-masters in their holy mosques to think and do? The You Tube video, shot in Alipur that is not in English, also ends with Mir’s relations calling for the destruction of America as the Great Satan and Death to Israel as the Lesser Satan. It should be noted there are no Jews living in Alipur where this demonstration took place, that the call to exterminate Jews is in following with the Khomeinist regime’s programming from Tehran. Religious leaders from the SABA Mosque have been reported to have made comments disparaging of Christians and Jews at times during sermons and invitations for religious speakers who are known to be virulently anti-Semitic are the norm. Some of these have included Abdul Malik Ali, an imam from Oakland who calls for genocide against Jews on US campuses such as UC Irvine, as well as Abdul Alim Musa, a former Oakland drug lord turned Shiite Imam who converted in prison and who has stated his goal is to instill a Khomeinist regime as found in Iran here in the United States.

Nabi Raza Mir, while practicing as the imam at the SABA Mosque, before leaving for Alipur, also had expressed praise and regret at the passing of Mullah Sayyed Fallalah who was credited with ordering the bombing of the US marine barracks in Beirut in 1983, costing the lives of over 241 US military personnel in what many consider to be the major first terror attack assignment by Hezbollah. At political and religious events in the San Jose area, SABA Mosque leaders have been photographed frequently wearing the paraphernalia of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps or of the Basij, both the military wings and enforcers of the dictatorial regime in Iran. Average Americans do not understand the symbolism of Basij scarves or keffiyehs or may think they represent the Palestinian evolution. But many exiled Iranians do know their meaning as identifiers of the secret police back in Iran or Hezbollah.Dearborn, Michigan, is no longer the only most major center of Hezbollah activity in the United States; Nabi Raza Mir arrived back in the US on April 25th to be hosted at a special reception at the SABA Mosque on Thursday, April 28th as San Jose which now vows for that same distinction.

As the nation hears endless and putrid whiffs of Muslim sensitivities from President Obama regarding the release of any Osama Bin Laden death photos, the bigger story continues its crushing blows. You know, that little thing called our economy, jobs and gasoline prices???As Obama stated when he was running for President, he couldn’t wait until gas prices were 4 and 5 dollars a gallon. Then it seemed we were a long distance from there. Surely, that extreme wouldn’t happen, wrong! Fasten your seatbelts America. Get your vomit bags ready because we ARE paying 4 and 5 dollars a gallon and will soon see 6, 7 and 8 dollars a gallon as Obama swoons in ecstasy. American families and businesses are suffering and hurling chunks of carbon emissions candy and distortion which has been stuffed down our throats.This week we see jobless claims at an 8-month high and more arguments about increasing the debt ceiling by this administration and progressive left. Oh who cares, we have all been forced on the spending orgy ride by this President. The trick is to keep spinning and spinning until you simply fly off the track and crash into the UN wall starring at you. Remember, this is America and we deserve that. To this President forcing and manipulating regulations, taxation and energy prices higher is the strategy to reign us all in. Like a pathological robot, Obama has zero empathy for any suffering he causes while transforming America into his vision. What is that?

Obama wants America to be one of countless other countries…..a sameness…..a blandness…..not a leader or exceptional as we have always been. He has no respect at all for our constitution, our sovereignty, our real history and sacrifices for the world. He despises our Judeo Christian heritage and wealth.Now that you have been reminded once again of Obama’s passion and real goals for America, you can’t be surprised at the endless ideas that fly through his head as to how to raise our taxes and hurt America. Now he is floating an idea to tax cars by the mile. This draft of his plan will be called the ‘Transportation Authorization Act. Transportation Weekly got a hold of it and now we all know. Boring already! We have seen the endless, hidden and not so hidden taxes stuffed in his Obama’s health care plan. Naturally that wouldn’t be enough.Obama wants to track every mile we run in our gas tank and charge us for it. The best part is this will be on top of higher jobless claims, people still being foreclosed on and seeing inflation grow everywhere. The icing on the cake will be if one of Obama’s precious czars can get animals to sue us. Yes, that is one of the psychotic goals of this Obama team.

Apparently as more tax schemes are being planned for us, jobless claims are marching higher and gas prices are marching through the roof, Obama plans to be even more sensitive to Muslims worldwide. He says he won’t release Osama Bin Laden’s death photos now. He has to be sensitive to Islam and not incur any violence by releasing the photos, so he says. I have a simple question. How much more sensitive must we be? Osama Bin Laden already had his body cleaned, was put on a proper and fitting white sheet, got a 40 minute service in Arabic then dumped gently into the ocean. I find it stunning that we went to that trouble! Mr. President, lets make sure you keep all closure and any emotional healing and celebration from the American people and victim’s families. They have only painfully and tearfully waited since 2001 for the day they could finally see Osama Bin Laden dead. Now they are not allowed to even have the gratification of seeing his photos??? They were no doubt forced to see and identify the burnt and flattened bodies of their loved ones. WHY CAN’T THEY SEE THE BODY OF OSAMA BIN LADEN?

* We have to deal with our rising and endless debt.
* We have to really create jobs without stimulus money lies, redistribution schemes and tax increases. Census worker jobs don’t count.
* We have to aggressively build our infrastructure, NOW, for energy independence.
* We have to really secure our borders and stop avoiding it and looking the other way.
-We must boldly stand against radical Islam, beatings and executions under Sharia law.
-We must offer the American people REAL tax liberation and freedom while bringing in money to run the country and chunk down our debt.
-Make domestic and international decisions that reflect American ideals, values, our constitution and Judeo Christian values, not the UN, global elitist or money people.
-Bring our troops home from Libya and develop a bold and clear exit strategy regarding Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the end the only picture we will likely ever see as proof of a dead Osama bin Laden will be the one on Obama Killed Osama T-shirts. Call it the epitaph of the trendy junk society in which we’re now living. The advent of the Junk Society was all but inevitable once politicians of the day were able to successfully junk the truth.Everything, including the fundamental transformation of America, is scripted. Those brave enough to try to stop it are categorized as anti-establishment radicals, kooks and conspiracy theorists.Props like teleprompters and doctors sporting white coats on the White House lawn are in use, and the only outcomes of world events are churned out by big governments who lie. Do actual postmortem pictures of dead terrorist Osama bin Laden exist? We’ll never know.

We do know that some of the pictures and images leading up to the event were staged.
A photograph released by the White House appeared to show the President (Telegraph.co.uk) and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded.In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.
That’s because Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.Solemnity and anxiety were largely depicted in that photo by a grim looking Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holding a hand up to cover her mouth.Did members of the Obama regime know that as long as the heroes of the killing of Osama bin Laden were U.S. Navy SEALs, few would ever doubt the raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan actually took place? Like a conquering hero, today Obama is going to Ground Zero for the first time.But he is on public record as a state senator with his response to the Islamist slaughter of 3,000 people on U.S. soil, published on September 19 in the Hyde Park Herald:...The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. The Obama regime is milking the Obama killed Osama story for all it’s worth. One of the major problems is that as long as they’re not telling the truth, others can keep adding to a story that is fast becoming the biggest political soap opera of all time.School aged children will grow up believing that Obama was the hero who took down the world’s number one terrorist.The hyped up story of Osama’s death makes room for lots of add-ons, the latest being Eric Holder’s contention that he was shot by American SEALs in self defense.Pakistani authorities have reported that Osama was unarmed and that there were no weapons in the Abbotobad compound at the time of the Navy SEAL raid.The regime’s tinkering with the truth has also brought on a novel way for the mocking of the one segment of society most loved and respected by the American people—their military.The Obama killed Osama story is showing the longest legs of any story ever told, and therefore the mocking of the military has just as long leg potential.The story that Obama will ensure will never die provides a major distraction for Obama’s missing documents and for all that is going wrong in America.Welcome to the Junk Society where the only proof that Osama was killed will be worn on T-shirts.That’s what happens when an unvetted politician with no provable background got his foot in the White House door with his only mission being to fundamentally transform the United States of America.

One of the groups behind the endless fake Bin Laden tapes and a contractor for the US government tells us that Al-Qaeda has confirmed the death of Osama. Although Bin Laden has been dead since 2001, the fact the US government is having to rely on the notorious SITE Institute to prop up the crumbling Bin Laden fable that was manufactured on Sunday night shows how desperate the White House has become in its bid to sell the public on more terror fearmongering.Al Qaeda released a statement on jihadist forums confirming the death of its leader, Osama bin Laden, according to SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant messages, reports CNN.The statement, translated by SITE, lauded the late militant, threatened to take action against the United States, and urged Pakistanis to rise up and revolt.SITE’s claim that Al-Qaeda has confirmed the official White House version of events concerning the death of Bin Laden, thereby lending presumed credence to a narrative that has quickly attracted derision and suspicion even amongst mainstream journalists, is about as credible as if Barney the Purple Dinosaur had made a statement assuring us that Osama was killed on Sunday evening.SITE is a US military-industrial complex front and has been caught red-handed releasing fake Al-Qaeda tapes on numerous occasions.
