THERE STILL TRYING TO FORCE ISRAEL INTO A FAKE CEASEFIRE.

WARN THE PEOPLE-WW3

EZEKIEL 33:1-6
1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2  Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3  If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4  Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5  He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6  But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

DANIEL 11:40-45 (WW3 BREAKDOWN)
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south( EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) and the king of the north (RUSSIA AND MUSLIM HORDES OF EZEK 38+39) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44 But tidings out of the east(CHINA 2ND WAVE OF WW3) and out of the north(RUSSIA, MUSLIMS WHATS LEFT FROM WAVE 1) shall trouble him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.( 1/3RD OF EARTHS POPULATION)
45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

ISAIAH 24:1
1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste,(NUKES USED) and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.(WORLD IMMIGRATION)

GENESIS 16:11-12
11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael;(ARAB/MUSLIM) because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man;(RIOTS-BURNING-MURDEROUUS RAGE) his hand will be against every man,(ISLAM WANTS WORLD DOMINATION) and every man's hand against him;(DEFENDING THEMSELVES) and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.(ARAB/MUSLIMS LIVE WITH ISRAELIS)

ISAIAH 33:1,18-19 Woe to thee that spoilest,(destroys) and thou wast not spoiled;(destroyed) and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil,(destroy) thou shalt be spoiled;(destroyed) and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

JOHN 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.(ISLAM MURDERS IN THE NAME OF THEIR MOON GOD ALLAH)

ISAIAH 14:12-23
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, (SATAN) son of the morning! (HEBREW MEANS CRESCENT MOON ANGEL-ISLAM OVIOUSLY)(SATAN IS THE GOD OF ISLAM) how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL EATS HUMANS FLESH FOR COMING AGAINST ISRAEL-JERUSALEM

Ecclesiastes 9:10
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

EZEKIEL 31:10-17
10 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.(HELL).
15Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
17They also went down into hell with him unto [them that be] slain with the sword; and [they that were] his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
18To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword. This [is] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 32:17-32
17 It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, [that] the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
18 Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, [even] her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
19 Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.
20 They shall fall in the midst of [them that are] slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
21 The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
22 Asshur [is] there and all her company: his graves [are] about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:
23 Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.
24 There [is] Elam (IRAN) and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
25 They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of [them that be] slain.
26 There [is] Meshech, Tubal,(RUSSIA) (GERMANY, TURKEY) and all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
27And they shall not lie with the mighty [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
28 Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with [them that are] slain with the sword.
29 There [is] Edom,(JORDAN) her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by [them that were] slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.
30 There [be] the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
31 Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, [even] Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
32 For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that are] slain with the sword, [even] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

EZEKIEL 38:1-23
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I (GOD) will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.(AFRICAN MUSLIMS,SUDAN,TUNESIA ETC)
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say,(RUSSIA-ARAB-MUSLIMS) I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13  Sheba, and Dedan,(SAUDI-ARABIA) and the merchants of Tarshish,(SPAIN) with all the young lions thereof,(ENGLAND,AND ALL ITS ASSOCIATES-CANADA,AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND, USA, AND WESTERN ENGLISH SPEAKING NATIONS) shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?(OIL IS IN SPOIL-I BELIEVE THATS WHY RUSSIA,ARAB/MUSLIMS MARCH TO ISRAEL)
14  Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?
15  And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
16  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

EZEKIEL 39:11-22
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)(EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN THE JORDAN VALLEY)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)
18  Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19  And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20  Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21  And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22  So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

REVELATION 19:17-18
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;(AGAINST ALL NATIONS ARMIES THAT COME AGAINST JERUSALEM AND ISRAEL)
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be placed with the uncircumcised! (IN HELL FIRES)
20 They will fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is appointed! Let them drag her away along with all her multitudes.
21 Mighty chiefs will speak from the midst of Sheol about Egypt and her allies: ‘They have come down and lie with the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.’
22 Assyria (SYRIA) is there with her whole company; her graves are all around her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword.
23 Her graves are set in the depths of the Pit, and her company is all around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who once spread terror in the land of the living.
24 Elam (IRAN) is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who went down uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
25 Among the slain they prepare a resting place for Elam with all her hordes, with her graves all around her. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, although their terror was once spread in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit. They are placed among the slain.
26 Meshech and Tubal (RUSSIA) are there with all their multitudes, with their graves all around them. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, because they spread their terror in the land of the living.
27 They do not lie down with the fallen warriors of old, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads, whose shields rested on their bones, although the terror of the mighty was once in the land of the living.
28 But you too will be shattered and lie down among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.

SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Then I saw that the second angel had a sickle in his hand, such as is used in harvesting. The second angel said: "Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the way to Iran."I saw those countries in a few split seconds."All of Turkey and those [inaudible] countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another."I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries. I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia - Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor - full of blood. I saw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; Nuclear weapons used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction – men destroying one another. I heard these words:"Israel, Oh Israel, the great judgment has come." The angel said, "The chosen, the church, the remnant, shall be purified. The Spirit of God shall prepare the children of God."I saw fires rising to heaven. The angel said: "This is the final judgment. My church shall be purified, protected and ready for the final day. Men will die from thirst. Water shall be scarce all over the Middle East. Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries. "The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

1 O God, do not remain silent;do not turn a deaf ear,do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,  how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they (ARAB,MUSLIMS) conspire against your people;they plot against those you cherish.(ISRAELIS)
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
5 With one mind they plot together;(TREATIES) they form an alliance against you—

1 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
1-PROMISCUOUS SEX AMOUNG EACH OTHER.
ROMANS 1:24
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: (THE 60S FREE SEX)
2 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
2-SODOMITES - MEN LUSTING MEN, AND WOMEN LUSTING AFTER WOMEN.
ROMANS 1:26-27
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
3 OF 3 GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO
3-A DEPRAVED MIND-ANY SIN GOES.
ROMANS 1:28-31
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO THESE 3 DEPRAVED ABOMINATION SINS?
OH OH NOAHS DAY. WHAT HAPPENED IN NOAHS DAY. THE WHOLE WORLD WAS JUDGED BY WATER.
GENESIS 6:7,17
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
GENESIS 7:4
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
GENESIS 8:16
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
WELL THE SODOMITES PICKED THE RIGHT SIGN OF A RAINBOW FOR JUDGEMENT. THE SODOMITES TRYED TO STEAL GODS SIGN THAT THE WHOLE EARTH WILL NEVER DIE FROM FLOOD WATERS AGAIN. BUT THE JUDGEMENT THIS TIME IS GOING TO BE BY FIRE.NOT WATER.
2 PETER 3:7
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Israeli researchers say wearable sensors could cut spread of contagious disease-Tel Aviv University-led team finds that technology that warns of illness 1 to 3 days before appearance of symptoms might prevent future pandemics and help timely disease management-By Diana Bletter-22 August 2024, 12:30 am

Researchers at Tel Aviv University say that smartwatches with biomarkers that provide early detection of contagious diseases can prevent the spread of infections and even preempt global pandemics in the future.“Early diagnosis can be critical for inducing behavioral changes, such as reduced social contacts, when the disease is most infectious,” said Prof. Dan Yamin, head of the Lab for Digital Epidemiology and Health Analytics, and Prof. Erez Shmueli, head of the Big Data Lab, both at Tel Aviv’s industrial engineering school, who led the team of researchers in Israel and at Stanford University. The two-year study, which focused on three infectious diseases — COVID-19, influenza, and group A streptococcus (GAS) — was published last month in the prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journal Lancet Regional Health – Europe. The researchers also discovered that even after people reported their first symptoms, they postponed testing. During this critical period, they were spreading the disease to others. The findings highlight a significant gap in timely disease management, the researchers said, and can help improve public health strategies. The researchers likened the spread of infectious diseases to controlling the spread of wildfires, as in both cases early detection is crucial.Nearly all infectious diseases begin silently and progressively worsen until clinical symptoms appear. During this period, people decide how to modify their social activities and when to seek diagnostic tests and treatment.During the study, 4,795 Israelis over 18 years of age wore a smartwatch that continuously monitored key physiological parameters, including pulse and heart rate. These biomarkers reveal information about our body’s two most important systems: the heart and the brain, said Yamin.“When a person becomes ill, most of the focus goes to the immune system that is battling the disease,” he said. “Our brain constantly consumes energy, burning oxygen provided by the cardiovascular system, and consequently, any change in our activity or condition is immediately reflected in a change in our heart rate.”In addition to wearing the smartwatches, the participants answered a daily series of questions about how they felt physically and mentally, including if they felt any specific symptoms. They also received home test kits for the three diseases, which they used at their discretion.Over the two years, the researchers collected 800,000 questionnaires; this data was compared with parallel data from the smartwatch.Altogether, the data included 490 episodes of influenza, 2,206 episodes of COVID-19, and 320 episodes of GAS.The researchers then built special models that identified the three points in time following exposure to an infectious disease. With COVID-19, for example, the patient’s heart rate changed 96 hours after exposure, yet it took another 34 hours for the person to notice symptoms. Then, it took 64 more hours for them to use the home test confirming the disease.“Consequently, for quite a long interval, from exposure to testing, they did not change their social behavior, spreading the disease to others,” said Shmueli.“We found that on average, people performed the test and changed their behavior when the disease was already past its peak” and the chance of infecting others was lower, Shmueli said. The subjects also waited 68 hours on average before they tested themselves for influenza and 58 hours for GAS.“The delay between digital diagnosis and testing is thus extremely crucial,” Shmueli said.Using digital diagnosis can significantly reduce the spread of infectious diseases because people might change “their social behavior at a much earlier stage of the disease,” Yamin said.If this happens, then people with COVID, who normally infect an average of three people, would infect less than one other person. If “every sick individual transmits the disease to less than one other person, the disease soon dies out,” he said, effectively eliminating the next pandemic.Early detection is the most effective-Early diagnosis is also critical for effective treatment, the researchers said.Existing treatments for COVID-19, for instance, are very effective only when given early on, preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and even death.“Infectious diseases pose the greatest threat for a global catastrophe,” Yamin said. People travel all over the world and potentially spread new diseases.“Modern technology can help us combat this danger and devise more effective public health strategies,” the researchers said.“Smartwatches are a relatively new technology, with enormous potential,” said Yamin. “There are ever more sensitive and accurate wearable sensors constantly being developed. Ultimately, this can be a high-impact tool for preempting future pandemics.”

Bomb threats emailed to over 100 Jewish institutions in Canada-Jewish community leaders say threat was ‘designed to disrupt lives,’ thank law enforcement for swift response; Trudeau decries ‘blatant antisemitism’ of targeted campaign-By ToI Staff 22 August 2024, 1:56 am

Dozens of Jewish institutions across Canada received a threatening email early Wednesday morning saying bombs had been planted on their premises and would be detonated later that day, community groups said.No bombs were reported to have been found as of Wednesday afternoon, although local media said that investigations were still ongoing.“This was a threat that we took very seriously,” a spokesperson from B’nai Brith Canada told local news channel CP24. “We’re very grateful for the swift response from law enforcement to the threat.”Eta Yudin, Quebec vice-president of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), said there was “no imminent threat,” and that the threat seemed to be “nuisance emails designed to disrupt lives,” according to Yahoo News.A spokesperson for the Montreal police department told CBC that the department received an emergency call at 7:10 a.m. from a synagogue, and began to sweep threatened locations, as it began receiving additional reports about the same email. The Toronto Police also conducted bomb searches, and at least one hospital in Ottawa confirmed that police had swept the premises. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement that it was working with local authorities, and that law enforcement was “engaging with faith-based leaders to ensure they have the information and support they need.”Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to X on Wednesday to condemn the threat, posting, “I’m disgusted at reports that more than 100 Jewish institutions across Canada were targeted by threats today. This is blatant antisemitism.“The RCMP is in contact with local law enforcement to investigate, and we’re working with them to keep Jewish Canadians safe,” he added.“Jewish Canadians will not be intimidated — we will continue to take part in Canadian society and Jewish life. We will stay vigilant, but we will never be intimidated,” said Yudin of CIJA, to Yahoo News.Rabbi Reuben Poupko, of the Beth Israel Beth Aaron Congregation in Montreal, told CBC, “The purpose of that email is really an assault on the psyche of a community. But if that was the intent, it certainly failed. I mean, every synagogue [in Montreal] was open.”Last month,  Trudeau appointed Anthony Housefather to serve as an adviser on the Jewish community and combating antisemitism following a series of violent attacks on synagogues and Jewish schools in recent months. Two synagogues in Toronto were attacked in July and had their windows smashed, shots were fired at Jewish schools in Montreal and Toronto in May, and there was a suspected arson attack at a Vancouver synagogue.Housefather said upon his appointment that he would be seeking an all-of-government approach to addressing rising antisemitism, cutting through bureaucracy either through legislation or through moral suasion.“We say ‘this is federal, this is municipal,’ people are being redirected all over the place and, and they’re just frustrated,” he said. “We need coordination between different levels of government.”The Jewish Telegraphic Agency contributed to this report.

Iran’s parliament approves chief negotiator of 2015 nuclear deal as new FM-Hardline lawmakers back all of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s cabinet picks, indicating they’re acceptable to all power centers in the Islamic Republic-By Agencies Today, 8:20 pm-AUG 21,24

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s hardline parliament approved on Wednesday all members of reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian’s cabinet, including a chief negotiator of the 2015 nuclear deal, who was installed as foreign minister. The approval marks an early win for Pezeshkian, a longtime lawmaker who found himself catapulted into the presidency after a helicopter crash in May killed his hardline predecessor.Getting his officials approved shows Pezeshkian picked a cabinet of consensus with names palatable to all of the power centers within Iran’s theocracy instead of going for controversial choices.Underlining that point, Pezeshkian immediately posted an image online with him standing next to Iran’s judiciary chief, a Shiite cleric, and the country’s parliament speaker, a hard-liner he once faced in the election.“Consensus for Iran,” he wrote in the caption.Former foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who campaigned for Pezeshkian in his election, later resigned as a vice president for the new leader over the cabinet selections.Among those in Pezeshkian’s new cabinet is Abbas Araghchi, 61, a career diplomat who will be Iran’s new foreign minister.Araghchi was a member of the Iranian negotiating team that reached a nuclear deal with world powers in 2015 that capped Tehran’s nuclear program in return for the lifting of sanctions. In 2018, then-US president Donald Trump pulled the US out of the deal and imposed more sanctions on Iran. Pezeshkian said during his presidential campaign that he would try to revive the nuclear deal.Araghchi, known for openness toward the West, has recently vowed “all-around support for the axis of resistance and Palestine” during a speech in parliament, referencing pro-Tehran proxies opposed to Israel, including the terrorist groups Hamas and the Houthis. The candidate who received the most support from lawmakers was the country’s new defense minister, Aziz Nasirzadeh, who received 281 votes out of 288 present lawmakers. The chamber has 290 seats. Nasirzadeh was chief of the Iranian air force from 2018 to 2021.Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi received the lowest number of votes with 163.The only female proposed, Housing and Road Minister Farzaneh Sadegh, a 47-year-old architect, received 231 votes. She is the first female minister in Iran in more than a decade. The parliament also approved Pezeshkian’s proposed Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib, as well as Justice Minister Amin Hossein Rahimi, both of whom served under the late president Ebrahim Raisi. Pezeshkian also put Raisi’s minister of industries, Abbas Aliabadi, in the post of energy minister. In a speech in parliament ahead of the vote, Pezeshkian said he initially “had ideal [candidates] on my mind.”“But when I saw that there was no mutual agreement on them, I backed down… because agreement was more important to me than ideal [candidates],” he said, vowing “to move forward with unity.” Dropping proposed ministers has been a tradition in Iran’s parliament, making Pezeshkian’s success that much more striking. Former reformist president Mohammad Khatami was the only president who received a vote of confidence for all of his proposed ministers in both 1997 and 2001.The Times of Israel Staff contributed to this report.

Gallant: IDF razed 150 tunnels on Egypt-Gaza border, defeated Hamas’s Rafah Brigade-Army says it killed dozens of gunmen and struck 30 targets, including Hamas command post in a school; urges evacuation from humanitarian area set to become ‘dangerous combat zone’ By Emanuel Fabian-and ToI Staff Today, 7:50 pm-AUG 21,24

More than 150 tunnels have been demolished along Gaza’s southern border, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced Wednesday, as the army said it destroyed some 30 terror sites and killed dozens of gunmen in airstrikes across the enclave over the past day.The IDF on Wednesday also called on Palestinians to evacuate from part of the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah where the army vowed to “forcefully operate” against terror groups.Speaking to troops at the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs along the border, Gallant said the IDF’s 162nd Division had defeated Hamas’s Rafah Brigade, which is centered in the Strip’s southernmost city.“The most important thing,” he said, “is to remember what the goals of the war are, to meet all the goals of the war, both regarding Hamas and also regarding the hostages, and to look north now.” Gallant was referring to simmering tensions with Iran’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah, which earlier in the day fired over 50 rockets at the north amid fears of an all-out war.Meanwhile, the army said it carried out airstrikes on rocket launch sites, tunnel shafts, observation posts and a Hamas command center within a school in Gaza City, in the Strip’s north. In the Strip’s south and center, ground troops raided Hamas sites and killed gunmen, the army said.Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said at least 50 Palestinians were killed and over 100 injured in airstrikes over the past 24 hours. The fighting raged on as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken headed home after failing to secure a hostages-for-ceasefire deal on his latest trip to the region, warning both Israel and Hamas the American proposal may be the last chance to avert a broader war.Politico said Wednesday that US and Israeli officials feared the talks were “on the brink of collapsing.”IDF destroys terror sites as ground troops battle gunmen-In Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood, troops with the 162nd Division killed dozens of armed terror operatives, destroyed sites belonging to terror groups and located numerous weapons, the IDF said Wednesday.Farther north, troops with the 98th Division killed dozens more gunmen and raided Hamas sites on the outskirts of Deir el-Balah and in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, the military said. The division also directed an airstrike on several terror operatives who had been spotted in an area from which rockets were launched at Israeli border communities several times in recent days, the IDF said.In central Gaza’s Netzarim Corridor, reservists with the 252nd Division struck buildings that the IDF said were used by Hamas to attack troops. In the Strip’s north, an IAF airstrike hit Hamas operatives at a command room embedded within a school in Gaza City, the army said.According to the military, Hamas was using the command room at the Salah ad-Din School to plan and carry out attacks on Israel and troops in Gaza. The IDF said it took “many steps” to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and other intelligence. The military added it will “continue to act with strength and determination against the terror organizations that use schools and civilian institutions as shelters.”In recent months, the army has carried out dozens of airstrikes on Hamas sites embedded within schools and other sites used as shelters for civilians, according to the IDF. On Tuesday, the army struck what it said was a Hamas command center at a school in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood.IDF calls to evacuate part of humanitarian areaAmid the fighting, the IDF called on people to evacuate an Israeli-designated humanitarian area in eastern Deir el-Balah, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced by the fighting have sought shelter. The military said it would soon act against terror groups in the area. The area is a few hundred meters away from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, one of the last functioning medical centers in the territory. There was no evacuation order for the hospital itself, but during past evacuations people have fled from areas adjacent to the declared zones for fear the fighting could spread.Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, published on X a map of the zones that need to be evacuated.Adraee said that the military will “forcefully operate” against terror groups in the area.“For your safety, we urge you to evacuate immediately to the west. The area you are in is considered a dangerous combat zone,” he added. The size of the humanitarian zone has changed multiple times, amid evolving IDF operations against the Hamas terror group. The humanitarian zone is currently around 42 square kilometers, or 11% of the Gaza Strip’s 40 by 11 kilometers (25 by 7 miles). According to IDF estimates, 1.9 million Palestinians, or some 83 percent, of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are residing in the humanitarian zone. The Hamas health ministry says over 40,000 people have been killed in the war in Gaza. The figure, which cannot be verified, does not distinguish between combatants and civilians. Israel says it has killed some 17,000 combatants in battle and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7.Israel has lost 335 troops in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip. The war was sparked when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists stormed southern Israel to kill nearly 1,200 people and take 251 hostages. It is believed that 105 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.Agencies contributed to this report.

Commercial ship ‘not under command’ after suspected Red Sea Houthi attack, UK says-Men in small boats open fire at ship with small arms as three projectiles also hit it-By Jon Gambrell 21 August 2024, 2:38 pm

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A commercial ship traveling through the Red Sea came under repeated attack Wednesday, leaving the vessel “not under command” in an assault suspected to have been carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, the British military said.Few details were immediately available about the attack, though it comes during the Houthis’ months-long campaign targeting ships over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. The attack saw men on small boats first open fire with small arms some 140 kilometers (90 miles) west of the rebel-held Yemeni port city of Hodeida, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center said.Three projectiles also hit the ship, it added. It wasn’t immediately clear if that meant drones or missiles.“The vessel reports being not under command,” the UKMTO said, likely meaning it lost all power. “No casualties reported.”The Houthis did not immediately claim the attack, though it can take them hours or even days before they acknowledge one of their assaults. The Houthis have targeted more than 80 vessels with missiles and drones since the war in Gaza started in October. They seized one vessel and sank two in the campaign, and killed four sailors.Other missiles and drones have been either intercepted by a US-led coalition in the Red Sea or failed to reach their targets. The rebels maintain that they have targeted ships linked to Israel, the United States or the UK to force an end to Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the conflict, including some bound for Iran. The Houthis have also launched drones and missiles toward Israel, including an attack on July 19 that killed one person and wounded 10 in Tel Aviv. Israel responded with airstrikes on the Houthi-held port city of Hodeida that hit fuel depots and electrical stations, killing and wounding a number of people, the rebels say. After the strikes, the Houthis paused their attacks until August 3, when they hit a Liberian-flagged container ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden. A Liberian-flagged oil tanker came under a particularly intense series of attacks, beginning August 8, likely carried out by the rebels. A similar attack happened on August 13 as well.Meanwhile, Iran has threatened to retaliate against Israel over the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, though Israel has not taken responsibility for the killing.Because of the threat, the US military told the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to sail more quickly to the area. America has also ordered the USS Georgia-guided missile submarine into the Mideast, while the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier strike group was in the Gulf of Oman.Additional F-22 fighter jets have flown into the region and the USS Wasp, a large amphibious assault ship carrying F-35 fighter jets, is in the Mediterranean Sea.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Israeli hurt in rocket barrage on Golan; Fatah official tied to Iran killed in Sidon strike-Some 50 rockets launched at Katzrin after IDF hits targets deep in Lebanon; killing of Khalil Makdah is first apparent strike targeting PA’s Fatah faction in Lebanon since October-By Emanuel Fabian-21 August 2024, 10:49 am

Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon launched more than 50 rockets at the northern Israeli city of Katzrin in the Golan Heights on Wednesday morning, moderately injuring a man and causing damage to homes.Meanwhile, the IDF carried out an airstrike on a vehicle in the Mieh Mieh Palestinian refugee camp near the coastal Lebanese city of Sidon, killing a Fatah official, marking the first such attack reported on the Palestinian group in over 10 months of cross-border clashes. The Hezbollah attack on Katzrin came hours after the Israel Defense Forces carried out a series of airstrikes in Lebanon, while targeting Hezbollah weapon depots deep in the country.According to the IDF, a barrage of some 50 rockets was launched in the attack on Katzrin, with most of the rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.Several rockets hit the city, causing heavy damage to homes and injuring one person. The Magen David Adom ambulance service said the man in his 30s sustained shrapnel injuries from a direct rocket strike on his house. He was taken to Ziv Medical Center in Safed in moderate condition, MDA said.Hezbollah took responsibility for the rocket barrage, claiming in a statement that it had targeted a nearby military base. The army rejected this, saying the group had intended to hit the town. The terror group said it launched several volleys of Katyusha rockets at the base in the Golan Heights in response to an IDF strike deep in eastern Lebanon overnight.Strike on Fatah official-In Lebanon, the Israeli military confirmed carrying out the strike that killed Fatah official Khalil Makdah.Khalil is the brother of senior Fatah official Munir Makdah, who has been accused by Israel for years of working with Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps to advance attacks on Israel. In a joint statement, the IDF and Shin Bet said that the Makdah brothers have been working out of Lebanon with the IRGC to transfer money and weapons to terror cells in the West Bank. The military published footage of the airstrike. In March, the Shin Bet revealed that it had foiled attempts by Iran to smuggle large amounts of advanced weapons to terror operatives in the West Bank to be used in attacks on Israeli targets. The Shin Bet said at the time that Munir Makdah was involved in the plot.Ongoing cross-border fire-In another attack on Israel Wednesday, several drones were launched from Lebanon at the Upper Galilee, setting off sirens in numerous communities. The IDF said that some of the drones were shot down by air defenses, while others impacted the area. No injuries were caused.Overnight, Israeli fighter jets had struck Hezbollah weapons depots in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon’s northeastern Baalbek District, the military said, for the second straight night. The IDF said secondary explosions were identified after the strikes, “indicating the presence of weapons in the warehouses that were attacked.”Additionally, the military said a site used by Hezbollah’s air defense unit, which “posed a threat” to Israeli aircraft, was also struck in the Baalbek area.Baalbek, a Hezbollah stronghold, is located some 100 kilometers from the Israeli border. The IDF accused Hezbollah of putting military assets within populated areas, in a “cynical exploitation of Lebanese citizens,” after the Lebanese health ministry said one person was killed and at least 20 were wounded in the strikes.Several more IDF strikes were carried out in southern Lebanon on Tuesday night. The military said the targets included a rocket launcher in Abu Shash, used in an earlier attack on the northern Israeli community of Ya’ara; a Hezbollah operative in the Hamoul area; a Hezbollah operative in Beit Lif; and buildings used by the terror group in Ayta ash-Shab, Ramyeh, and Tallouseh. Hezbollah announced the deaths of five members following Israeli strikes in Lebanon.Israel and Hezbollah have been trading fire for over 10 months. The region has been bracing for a major escalation in violence for more than two weeks, since Israel killed Hezbollah’s military chief Fuad Shukr and was blamed for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, drawing promises of retaliation from both Iran and its Lebanese proxy.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war against the Hamas terror group there. So far, the skirmishes have resulted in 26 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 19 IDF soldiers and reservists.Hezbollah has named 420 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 73 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators charge police line outside Israeli consulate in Chicago-Over a dozen arrested as protesters clash with cops, burn US flag; Israel supporters hold counterprotest, call to free the hostages as consulate says it’s ‘appalled to see violence’-By Agencies and ToI Staff 21 August 2024, 6:21 am

CHICAGO — More than a dozen pro-Palestinian demonstrators were arrested Tuesday during a protest that began outside the Israeli consulate and spilled out onto the surrounding streets on the second night of the Democratic National Convention. The intense confrontations with officers began minutes into the demonstration, after some protesters – many dressed in black, their faces covered – charged at a line of police that had blocked the group from marching. They eventually moved past the officers, but were penned in several times throughout the night by police in riot gear who did not allow protesters to disperse. Officers called the demonstrations “an unlawful assembly.”Earlier in the night, officers carrying wooden clubs shouted “move” and penned some demonstrators in on the street, preventing them from marching. Some demonstrators set an American flag on fire in the street as the celebratory roll call for Vice President Kamala Harris took place inside the United Center about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) away. Others carried Palestinian flags and posters calling to “bring the war home” with a graphic of a masked gunman, while many others wore black and covered their faces. As protesters regrouped and approached a line of police in riot gear in front of a Chicago skyscraper that houses the Israeli consulate, an officer said into a megaphone, “You are ordered to immediately disburse.” A woman in the front of the march shouted back with her own megaphone: “We’re not scared of you.”A man in Chicago Bulls hat, his face covered by a balaclava, called on protesters to “shut down the DNC.” The group, which is not affiliated with the coalition of over 200 groups that organized Monday’s protests, advertised the demonstration Tuesday under the slogan of “Make it great like ’68,” invoking the anti-Vietnam War protests that seized the city during the 1968 Democratic National Convention.BREAKING: Heavy clashes, mass arrests as Protesters against DNC push against Chicago Police line outside Israeli Consulate pic.twitter.com/pixV0eKYTp— Oliya Scootercaster ???? (@ScooterCasterNY) August 21, 2024-The atmosphere with rows of police in riot gear was a stark contrast to a day earlier when thousands of pro-Palestinian activists, including families pushing babies in strollers, marched near the convention site.Police kept protesters confined to a block of Madison Street, a normally bustling downtown thoroughfare where traffic was halted on both ends Tuesday evening.Law enforcement had closed down most of the entrances to the building on Tuesday, allowing commuters to come in only one entrance where armed officers were also posted. Many of the building’s shops were closed. Martha Hill, a spokeswoman for the Metra commuter rail service, said train service was running as normal. The consulate has been the site of numerous demonstrations since the Hamas-led October 7 onslaught that started the war in Gaza. It is in a building connected to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, a major commuter rail station.“We are appalled to see violence during the protest in front of our offices. This is anything but peaceful and completely contradictory to the spirit of the DNC. This vocal minority does not represent the vast bipartisan majority of Americans who stand strong in support of Israel,” the Israeli consulate said in statement.“It was incredibly heartwarming to see many Americans countering this hate in front of our office, echoing the strong bond between America and Israel,” it added, while thanking law enforcement. The consulate also hit out at Mayor Brandon Johnson for “the ongoing support he has been giving to the anti-Israel protests in Chicago, particularly during the DNC, and his continued disregard for the large pro-Israel and Jewish community in the city.”DNC: pro-Israel counter-protesters are blocked by police not far from where a massive protest is taking place at the Israeli Consulate in Chicago right now.Mohammed Ismail, a 29-year-old psychiatry resident who lives in Chicago, described the police presence as “excessive,” and questioned why the group had been blocked from marching. He said he joined the protest to urge Democrats to cease funding to Israel.“It’s not right that we’re sending our tax money to fund an ongoing slaughter, an ongoing genocide,” Ismail said. “We’re a part of this conflict because our money is paying for it.”A group of Israel supporters gathered nearby for a counterprotest, calling for the return of the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.“Bring them home now!” they chanted.DNC: pro-Israel counter-protesters are blocked by police not far from where a massive protest is taking place at the Israeli Consulate in Chicago right now.Meanwhile, the sites of demonstrations from the previous night were largely quiet. Thirteen people were arrested during Monday’s protests, most them related to a “brief breach” of security fencing “within sight and sound of the United Center,” the city’s police superintendent said.Israel supporters, including some relatives of people kidnapped by Hamas, gathered earlier in the day at a pro-Israel art installation not far from the consulate to call on US leaders to continue backing Israel and pushing for the release of hostages. The art installation included giant milk cartons bearing photos of some of the hostages.Elan Carr, CEO of the Israeli-American Council, condemned the pro-Palestinian protesters who have descended on Chicago this week, calling them “fringe crazies” and demanding that US leaders “stand unequivocally with the state of Israel.”More protests were planned throughout the week. However, attendance at the main rally on Monday was far below estimates of organizers who had predicted more than 20,000 would show up.Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said Tuesday that the crowd was around 3,500 strong and that the vast majority of the protesters were peaceful. However, some clashed with police, used pepper spray against them and threw water bottles at officers during the clash in the park where there was a breach in security fencing, Snelling said. He said officers did not use any chemical sprays.“Our officers showed great restraint,” he said at a news conference. “We’re not going to tolerate vandalism and violence in our city. … We’re going to continue to protect the city.”Snelling said with more protests planned, his department is prepared to deescalate situations whenever possible.“Again, we’re up to the challenge,” Snelling said. “The city is up to the challenge.”The park where the most arrests were made, located a block from the convention arena, served as a destination point for a march of thousands calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war. Several dozen activists broke off from the main group, breached the fencing, and were pushed back by police.Authorities said the inner security perimeter surrounding the United Center was not breached and there was no threat to those attending the convention. On Tuesday morning, an extra line of fencing was installed at the park and the tall metal barriers were reinforced to prevent protesters from lifting and removing the panels. No police officers or protesters were in the park early Tuesday. The 13 people arrested during Monday’s protest were detained on charges ranging from criminal trespass and resisting and obstructing an arrest, to aggravated battery of police officers, Snelling said.At least 10 of them were arrested in connection with the fence, he said.Snelling said he did not connect those who tore down the fence with the entirety of the march. He said the vast majority of participants were peaceful, and he praised his officers’ conduct in the moment. The Chicago chapter of the National Lawyers Guild said two of the people arrested were hospitalized. Snelling said they were not taken to the hospital for injuries, but “so they could be provided the treatment they needed when it came to their medications.”Two people were also arrested on misdemeanor property damage and resisting arrest charges during a protest march Sunday night. As of Tuesday morning, 15 people had been arrested. Most of the largest demonstrations have been organized by the Coalition to March on the DNC, which is demanding an end to US aid for Israel. But smaller protests have popped up around the city, during the convention’s welcome party at Navy Pier.

WEEK OF DANIEL 9:27 WE KNOW ITS 7 YRS

The King of Jerusalem[1] was the supreme ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the Crusader state founded by Christian princes in 1099 when the First Crusade took the city.Godfrey of Bouillon, the first ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, himself refused the title of king, and instead chose the title "Defender of the Holy Sepulchre". Thus, the title of king was only introduced for his successor, King Baldwin I in 1100. The city of Jerusalem was lost in 1187, but the Kingdom of Jerusalem survived (also known as the "Second Kingdom of Jerusalem"), moving its capital to Acre in 1191. The city of Jerusalem was re-captured in the Sixth Crusade, during 1229–39 and 1241–44. The Kingdom of Jerusalem was finally dissolved with the fall of Acre and the end of the Crusades in the Holy Land in 1291.After the Crusader States ceased to exist, the title of King of Jerusalem was claimed by a number of European noble houses descended from the kings of Cyprus or the kings of Naples. The (purely ceremonial) title of King of Jerusalem is currently used by Felipe VI of Spain. It was claimed by Otto von Habsburg as Habsburg pretender, and by the kings of Italy until 1946.

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

DR SAMUEL DOCTORIANS VISION - SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries."The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

White House: In call with Netanyahu, Biden stresses urgency of ceasefire-hostage deal-Harris also joins call; Arab officials say US went too far in backing Israel’s demands on Philadelphi Corridor; security cabinet to meet Thursday night-By Lazar Berman-and Jacob Magid-22 August 2024, 1:08 am

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with US President Joe Biden by phone on Wednesday as efforts to reach a hostage deal floundered after recent optimism that a breakthrough was in the works.Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, also joined the call, according to the White House.During the call, Biden “stressed the urgency of bringing the ceasefire and hostage release deal to closure and discussed upcoming talks in Cairo to remove any remaining obstacle,” the White House said in a readout of the conversation. The two leaders also “discussed active and ongoing US efforts to support Israel’s defense against all threats from Iran, including its proxy terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, to include ongoing defensive US military deployments,” the brief US readout added.Netanyahu’s office would not comment on the conversation.Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in the region this week pushing an American “bridging proposal” designed to get beyond disagreements between Israel and Hamas over issues like IDF deployment on the Gaza-Egypt border in the event of a deal.Speaking to the press on Monday, Blinken praised Netanyahu for backing the proposal. But Blinken’s approach rubbed some the wrong way. Two Arab officials from a mediating country and a third official involved in the talks told The Times of Israel that Blinken went too far to accommodate Netanyahu’s positions on continued IDF presence in the Philadelphi and Netzarim corridors. An Arab official lamented that there’s no point in holding the planned high-level gathering of negotiators later this week in Cairo unless the US pressures Netanyahu to back off his new demands and amends its bridging proposal accordingly.A second Arab official expressed bewilderment at Blinken’s repeated public insistence in recent days that Netanyahu backs the US bridging proposal, arguing that this inaccurately frames Hamas as the lone obstructionist party. The Arab official pointed to comments that the Israeli premier has continued to make about the need for a permanent Israeli military presence in the Philadelphi Corridor to prevent weapons smuggling from Egypt into Gaza.A third official involved in the talks said the US bridging proposal doesn’t allow for a permanent Israeli presence in the corridor but also doesn’t rule out such deployment entirely. At a meeting on Tuesday, Netanyahu reportedly told a group of relatives of soldiers who were killed on October 7 and of hostages held in Gaza that “Israel won’t leave the Philadelphi Corridor and the Netzarim Corridor under any circumstances.”Such statements harm efforts to maintain talks with Hamas, the official said.Hamas has made clear after forgoing its demand for an up-front Israeli ceasefire commitment that it won’t accept continued Israeli presence in Rafah and Netzarim, “so [Netanyahu] is going to have to decide whether he wants to stick to these new demands or whether he wants to bring hostages home alive,” said the official. In a joint statement with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Wednesday night, Hamas confirmed that it would not accept anything less than an agreement that included “a comprehensive ceasefire, a complete withdrawal [of Israeli troops] from the Gaza Strip, the beginning of reconstruction and the end of the blockade.”The terror groups said that they held Israel’s leaders “responsible for the collapse of the efforts made by the mediators by insisting on continuing the aggression and denying what was agreed upon in the previous stages, especially the proposal that the movement agreed to on July 2.”The July 2 proposal, which Netanyahu dismissed, was itself a response to the Israeli proposal made public by Biden in late May.According to Kan news, Netanyahu agreed in his meeting with Blinken on Monday to withdraw IDF troops from the Philadelphi Corridor in the second stage of a potential hostage deal with Hamas. However, Netanyahu’s office said in response that the report was “incorrect.”“Israel will insist on achieving all of its war goals, as defined by the cabinet — including the goal that Gaza will never again present a security threat to Israel. That requires closing the southern border,” it concluded, referring to the border between Egypt and Gaza.Amid growing pessimism around chances for a deal, the national security cabinet is scheduled to meet on  Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Kirya IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel.According to Channel 12 news, Israeli officials are saying that chances for a hostage deal in the near future are “extremely, extremely low.”Talks are “on the brink of collapsing,” Politico reported, citing two unnamed US officials and one unnamed Israeli official. While Washington has publicly insisted on expressing optimism, the officials reportedly said efforts to bring Hamas on board with the latest proposal have so far been unsuccessful, with White House officials said to be frustrated by the Palestinian terror group’s hardline rhetoric against it.The US outlet said this “has US officials increasingly worried that this proposal will falter just as earlier ones did, with Hamas and Israel at odds and no clear path to end fighting or bring hostages home.”Officials in Egypt, which has a unique role as both a mediator and affected party since it borders Gaza, told The Associated Press that Hamas would not agree to the bridging proposal for a number of reasons — ones in addition to the long-held wariness over whether a deal would truly remove Israel forces from Gaza and end the war.One Egyptian official, with direct knowledge of the negotiations, said the bridging proposal required the implementation of the deal’s first phase, which has Hamas releasing the most vulnerable civilian hostages captured in its October 7 massacre that sparked the war. Parties during the first phase would negotiate the second and third phases with no “guarantees” to Hamas from Israel or mediators.“The Americans are offering promises, not guarantees,” the official said. “Hamas won’t accept this, because it virtually means Hamas will release the civilian hostages in return for a six-week pause of fighting with no guarantees for a negotiated permanent ceasefire.”He also said the proposal doesn’t clearly say Israel will withdraw its forces from the two strategic corridors in Gaza. Israel offered to downsize its forces in the Philadelphi Corridor, with “promises” to withdraw from the area, he said.“This is not acceptable for us and of course for Hamas,” the Egyptian official said.Negotiations in recent months have been based on an outline laid out by Biden at the end of May that would include three stages, with the first six-week period seeing a pause in Israeli ground operations and withdrawal of troops in exchange for the release of 33 hostages in the categories of women, children, elderly and wounded, alongside Israel freeing 990 Palestinian prisoners. As negotiations over the outline have repeatedly stalled, another round of talks was held in Doha last week, with US and Israeli officials warning it may be the last chance to reach a deal.Times of Israel Staff contributed to this report.

Op-ed: Day 320 of the war-A bridge too far? Blinken’s desperate bid for a hostage-ceasefire deal-After Netanyahu accepted the US ‘bridging proposal,’ the secretary said Hamas must now do the same. He made it sound so clear-cut, but the picture is getting muddier-By David Horovitz-21 August 2024, 5:12 pm

This Editor’s Note was sent out earlier Wednesday in ToI’s weekly update email to members of the Times of Israel Community. To receive these Editor’s Notes as they’re released, join the ToI Community here. It’s a little confusing. On Friday in Doha, at the end of two days of talks between Israel’s top negotiators and American, Qatari and Egyptian officials on a potential hostages-for-ceasefire agreement, the mediators announced that the US had drawn up a “bridging proposal” that closes the “remaining gaps” between Israel and Hamas “in the manner that allows for a swift implementation of the deal.”This bridging proposal, they said in a joint statement, had been delivered to Israel and to Hamas — which did not participate in the talks, but was present in Doha.On Monday, the indefatigable US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held three hours of talks with Benjamin Netanyahu, at the end of which the prime minister issued a one-sentence statement pledging Israel’s “commitment to the current American proposal.” Evidently, few people believe much of what Netanyahu says these days because, The Times of Israel apart, the prime minister’s declared acceptance of the proposal was barely reported in Israel or abroad.Several hours later, however, at a press conference in Tel Aviv, Blinken himself stated explicitly that Netanyahu was indeed on board. At their “very constructive meeting,” the secretary said, Netanyahu “confirmed to me that Israel accepts the bridging proposal” offered by the US last week in Doha “to try to bridge the gaps that remain between the parties.” The secretary stressed the point: “He supports it.”What remained, Blinken went on, was for Hamas to give its consent — “It’s now incumbent on Hamas to do the same,” he said. After that, the parties, with the help of the mediators, would need to “come together and complete the process of reaching clear understandings about how they’ll implement the commitments that they’ve made under this agreement.”That wording on the transition from approval of the bridging proposal to negotiating its implementation, one might note, was less than linear. And it wasn’t much more direct when Blinken tried to explain a second time: “The next important step is for Hamas to say yes,” he repeated, “and then, in the coming days, for all of the expert negotiators to get together to work on clear understandings on implementing the agreement.”But the bottom line seemed plain. The US, backed by Qatar and Egypt, had presented a bridging proposal to close the gaps between Israel and Hamas that had held up a new deal for more than eight months since the weeklong truce in November. Israel had endorsed the new proposal. If Hamas were to do the same, the effort would advance toward implementation.-Clouds gather-Since Monday evening, however, this relatively clear picture has clouded over. Unlike the late May Israeli proposal on which subsequent negotiations have been based, which has been published (by ToI here), the “bridging proposal” has not.Confusing, even contradictory reports have emerged on what it may contain — including, importantly, whether it accommodates all, some or none of the four nonnegotiable demands Netanyahu has been reiterating in recent weeks: for an ongoing Israeli presence on the Philadelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border to prevent Hamas rearming; for a mechanism to prevent armed fighters returning from southern to northern Gaza across the Netzarim Corridor; for the release of the largest possible number of living hostages in the first six-week phase of the deal, and for Israel’s right to resume fighting until Hamas is destroyed. On the face of it, it would seem unthinkable that Netanyahu would have accepted the American bridging proposal if those demands were not accommodated. And indeed, the prime minister reportedly told a meeting Tuesday with relatives of soldiers slain on October 7 and of hostages that, for a start, “Israel won’t leave the Philadelphi Corridor and the Netzarim Corridor under any circumstances.”But it would also seem unthinkable that Hamas, which has been unyielding in its demand for a permanent ceasefire and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, would accept such terms. Indeed, Hamas’s officials have issued several statements rejecting the American proposal, and are also now disputing the widely reported assertion of recent weeks that it was prepared to implement the first phase of the deal, in which it aims to secure the release of large numbers of the most dangerous Palestinian terrorists from Israel’s jails, without an upfront Israeli commitment to a permanent end of the war. Yahya Sinwar, the architect of the October 7 invasion and slaughter in southern Israel who is now effectively the sole voice of Hamas, has yet to offer his personal response from the depths of Gaza, but is widely expected to confirm that the proposal is a nonstarter.Curiously, however, while the mediators on Friday depicted the “bridging proposal” as their formula to close the gaps, and Blinken on Monday underlined that Netanyahu had accepted and it was “now incumbent on Hamas to do the same,” the secretary in Doha on Tuesday called for “maximum flexibility – from the Israeli government and also from Hamas’s leadership.”His full quote, which has not been widely reported, specified that he was making this request in the context of work on implementing the agreement: He said Hamas “should be prepared to endorse [the bridging proposal], just as Israel has endorsed it. And then the critical thing is getting clear understandings on implementation of the agreement, and there are some complicated pieces of business that are involved there.  That’s exactly why it’s so important that the negotiators who are working the details of this have maximum flexibility – from the Israeli Government and also from Hamas’s leadership – so that we can actually bring this to a conclusion, bring it over the finish line.”But that appears to be a case of putting the cart before the horse. In theory, no further flexibility is required from Israel as regards the bridging proposal — since, whatever it contains, Israel has backed it. But tremendous and unlikely flexibility is required from Hamas before anybody can get moving on negotiating the terms for implementation, sinceHamas has yet to accept the bridging proposal and is showing every sign of rejecting it.What might be going on -Did the US go further than Qatar and Egypt would have wanted in Netanyahu’s direction when drawing up the terms of the bridging proposal? That, reportedly, is what Netanyahu’s own negotiators have been telling him.Specifically, according to multiple Hebrew media reports, they returned from Doha last weekend to deliver the good news that the US had moved closer to Israel’s positions, but also stressed that he would have to give ground on the Philadelphi Corridor deployment or there would otherwise be no deal. The Egyptian and Qatari mediators, they reportedly made clear, wouldn’t even press Hamas full-force to accept the bridging proposal as it stands. To which Netanyahu reportedly responded that Israel’s ongoing presence along the border was a “strategic” imperative, and that Israel needed to control all access to Gaza or face the inevitable revival of Hamas. If it came down to a choice between Philadelphi and a deal, Netanyahu reportedly told them, he’d prefer Philadelphi. Those Israeli negotiators are also Israel’s security chiefs — the head of the Mossad, the head of the Shin Bet, and a senior point man representing the IDF — and they have reportedly assured Netanyahu that all four of his nonnegotiable demands can be at least partially accommodated. At Philadelphi, for instance, they have reportedly argued that Israel can secure terms under which it monitors what plays out along the border during the crucial, first six-week phase of the deal, and that any attempts by Hamas to bring in weaponry would be regarded by the mediators as a violation that would justify the IDF’s immediate intervention. Indeed, that would remain the case as the deal progressed, if it progressed, and beyond. Some reports in the past two days have claimed that Blinken recognizes that the bridging proposal is anything but the last word; that as he said in Doha on Tuesday, “these things sometimes take more time than you want”; that he has at least staved off Iran’s threatened revenge against Israel for the killing (by Iranians?) of Hamas’s leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran three weeks ago, and enabled the Democratic National Convention to get going without Gaza too prominent a global headline.Danny Elgarat, whose brother Itzik is one of the now 105 hostages from October 7 still held captive in Gaza, takes a very different view. In an Army Radio interview on Wednesday morning, Elgarat proclaimed that Netanyahu, having given the US his okay on the bridging proposal, is “no longer relevant.”In Elgarat’s assessment, the Americans have recognized that the prime minister is a potential saboteur of any deal. They’re giving him an alibi, Elgarat further asserted without evidence, in that they’ve told him they’d disengage from the region if there’s no deal and escalated hostilities, which would mean “collective suicide” for Israel, and they will now move to get the deal done come what may.Pushed by reporters in Doha on Tuesday night about Netanyahu’s insistence on an ongoing Israeli presence at Phialdephi and his other restated demands, Blinken indeed sounded what might be termed politely dismissive: “The United States does not accept any long-term occupation of Gaza by Israel,” he said first. “More specifically, the agreement is very clear on the schedule and the locations of IDF withdrawals from Gaza, and Israel has agreed to that…“I can’t speak to what [Netanyahu’s] quoted as saying,” Blinken went on. “I can just speak to what I heard from him directly yesterday, when we spent three hours together, including, again, Israel’s endorsement of the bridging proposal and thus the detailed plan. And that plan, among other things, as I said, includes a very clear schedule and locations for withdrawals.”The other side-You might think Netanyahu would regard the return of the falling number of living hostages, not just an IDF presence on the Philadelphi Corridor, as a “strategic” issue for Israel and its capacity to emerge from the ongoing national nightmare. You might think he would regard the need to tackle Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah — with its battle-tested army, extensive tunnel networks and vast missile arsenal largely intact, and Israel’s actual northern border being pushed inexorably south by Hassan Nasrallah’s incessant fire — as an urgent strategic imperative. You might even think some of Netanyahu’s most obdurate coalition partners would recognize those priorities too. (No, forget that; the likes of Itamar Ben Gvir are too busy stirring up the entire Muslim world against Israel by encouraging Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount and indulging vicious West Bank settler attacks on Palestinians.)-But ultimately, whether Netanyahu is genuinely on board with the US plan, and whether the US is resolutely determined to hammer a deal through this time even if he isn’t, there is a second side to this equation: the Hamas terrorist organization, indisputably overseen by Sinwar, the architect of the October 7 massacre, and hellbent on Israel’s destruction. At his press conference in Tel Aviv on Monday, Blinken declared: “So what I would say to Hamas and to its leadership is if it genuinely cares about the Palestinian people that it purports to somehow represent, then it will say yes to this agreement, and it will work on clear understandings about how to implement it.  Because the single, quickest, best, most effective way to relieve the terrible suffering of the Palestinians that was instigated by Hamas’s attack on October 7th and the war that ensued is to complete this agreement. So that’s really the question. Is Hamas, is its leadership, actually looking out for Palestinian children, women, and men who are suffering at this very moment in Gaza? And if it is, it will agree.”But the bitter, obvious truth is that, no, Hamas does not “genuinely care about the Palestinian people,” and no, it is not “actually looking out for Palestinian children, women, and men who are suffering at this very moment in Gaza.” It is, rather, determined to destroy Israel — a goal, moreover, that Hamas and its considerable, despicable array of loyalists and supporters in Gaza and beyond would argue serves the wider Palestinian cause and justifies almost any sacrifice. And Hamas, as Blinken must know, will not take any deal that Sinwar assesses would definitively thwart that avowed genocidal ambition.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday called for both Israel and Hamas to demonstrate “maximum flexibility” in talks on a hostage-ceasefire deal, as an American official said “maximalist” remarks attributed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about maintaining control of the Gaza-Egypt border were not helpful to reaching an agreement.“It’s so important that the negotiators working the details of this have maximum flexibility from the Israeli government and Hamas’s leadership,” Blinken stressed in remarks to reporters as he left Doha on Tuesday evening, adding, “These things sometimes take more time than you want.”The rebuke from a senior US official traveling with Blinken in the Middle East, requesting anonymity to talk about sensitive discussions, came after Netanyahu reportedly told hardline relatives of hostages and bereaved families in a meeting that “Israel won’t leave the Philadelphi Corridor and the Netzarim Corridor under any circumstances.”Netanyahu has insisted that Israel will not withdraw from those two areas in southern and central Gaza, respectively, and that troops must be stationed there for strategic and security reasons. The Philadelphi Corridor runs along the Gaza-Egypt border, where Hamas for years smuggled in arms and weapons components. The Netzarim Corridor was carved out by the IDF during the war, and aims to prevent armed Hamas fighters from returning to northern Gaza, as well as allowing the military greater freedom to maneuver through the enclave. Earlier this week, Israeli negotiators were said to have told the prime minister that his demand for an ongoing IDF presence on the Philadelphi Corridor was dooming the deal.“Maximalist statements like this are not constructive to getting a ceasefire deal across the finish line,” said the official, who also denied an Axios report that said Netanyahu might have managed to convince the top US diplomat on the issue.“The only thing Secretary Blinken and the United States are convinced of is the need for getting a ceasefire proposal across the finish line,” the senior administration official said. While Blinken had reportedly been slated to meet with Qatar’s Emir Tamim Al-Thani after sitting down with top leaders in Israel and Egypt, the secretary only ended up getting an audience with a relatively low-level minister, Qatar’s Minister of State at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi. Speaking to reporters before departing Qatar, Blinken said a ceasefire deal needs to get done in the coming days, adding the United States, Egypt and Qatar would do everything possible to get Hamas on board with the “bridging proposal” that the US drew up at the end of last week’s Doha summit talks.“Time is of the essence,” Blinken said. “This needs to get done, and it needs to get done in the days ahead, and we will do everything possible to get it across the finish line.”Hamas has issued statements rejecting the US bridging proposal and insisting on a permanent ceasefire in the war and the full withdrawal of IDF troops from Gaza. Israel’s Channel 12 reported Tuesday that the new US proposal has been received by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, and that he is expected to reject it.The Philadelphi obstacle-According to an earlier statement by the Gvura Forum, which represents some families of slain soldiers, Netanyahu told the group at a meeting on Tuesday that he’s “not sure there will be a deal,” that any deal would “safeguard Israel’s interests,” and that “Israel won’t leave the Philadelphi Corridor and the Netzarim Corridor under any circumstances.”Channel 12 on Tuesday evening broadcast a sequence of brief clips of Netanyahu’s remarks at the meeting which imply, but do not fully show, that he set out some of those specific positions: “We took hold of the Philadelphi Corridor; we took hold of the Rafah border crossing…,” he says in one snippet. “We are making an effort to return the hostages…,” he says in another. “But the other issue is to retain our strategic security assets in the face of heavy pressure at home and abroad. And we are standing firm,” he says in the third.Meanwhile, an unnamed source in the Israeli negotiating team also accused Netanyahu of sabotaging the talks with his Tuesday remarks, the Kan public broadcaster reported. “Netanyahu’s statement is intended to blow up the negotiations, there’s no other way about it,” the source told Kan. “The prime minister knows that we are in a critical period during which we’re working on solutions for the Philadelphi Corridor and Netzarim ahead of the next summit.”“He knows there is progress — and then he puts out statements that are the opposite of what was agreed upon with the mediators,” the source added.Nonetheless, the New York Times reported Tuesday that the US bridging proposal does allow a reduced number of Israeli troops to continue to patrol part of the Philadelphi Corridor. However, officials told the Times that the suggestion of a limited IDF presence is likely to be shot down by Hamas due to its long-held demand for a full Israeli withdrawal. It added that Egypt has also expressed displeasure, and Egyptian officials have warned that the extended presence of Israeli troops would pose national security concerns for Cairo. The officials said that another of Netanyahu’s other “non-negotiable” demands also posed issues at the talks in Doha late last week, after the US asked to delay in-depth conversations regarding Israel’s demand to screen displaced Palestinians returning to the northern part of the Strip, to ensure they aren’t carrying weapons. For now, the Biden administration has maintained that Netanyahu is, in fact, sticking with the latest bridging proposal — which he and Blinken separately said he had accepted on Monday. As he left Doha, Blinken indicated opposition to Netanyahu’s reported insistence that Israeli troops remain in the Philadelphi and Netzarim corridors. “The United States does not accept any long-term occupation of Gaza by Israel. The [final bridging] agreement is very clear on the schedule and the location of IDF withdrawals from Gaza, and Israel has agreed to that,” he said.Still, the secretary refused to respond directly to Netanyahu’s reported remarks. “I can’t speak to what [Netanyahu] is quoted as saying. I can just speak to what I heard directly from him yesterday when we spent three hours together, including Israel’s endorsement of the bridging proposal.”Blinken added that “it’s so clearly in the interest of all concerned — starting with Israel — to bring this to a close,” and said, “The hostages depend on it, the security of the country depends on it.”Gaza, he elaborated, in many ways “is the key to actually move things in the north with Lebanon and Hezbollah in a better direction. It’s the key to making sure we can take down the temperature in the Red Sea with the Houthis. It’s the key to seeing if we can pursue a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia, which both countries remain very interested in. It’s the key to putting everyone — starting with Israel — on a path to greater peace and security.”Blinken also noted the American citizens who remain in Hamas captivity since being seized during the October 7 terror onslaught, saying he “was very clear about the American interest in making sure that our people come home to their families and that the remains of those who have perished are brought back.”Meanwhile, a US official did acknowledge to The Times of Israel that there is concern from both sides regarding the implementation of the deal. Netanyahu’s position has been criticized in Israel, with Opposition Leader Yair Lapid calling Tuesday for an immediate deal before the hostages “all die.”“Enough with the briefings, enough with the tweets,” Lapid wrote on X. “All of Netanyahu’s attempts to sabotage the negotiations should stop. A deal now, before they all die.”Hundreds of protesters blocked traffic as they gathered on Begin Road in Tel Aviv Tuesday evening to demonstrate for a hostage deal, following the recovery of the bodies of six hostages in an overnight operation, all of whom were abducted alive on October 7.Protesters holding images of Avraham Munder, Alex Dancyg, Chaim Peri, Yagev Buchshtab, Yoram Metzger, and Nadav Popplewell marched behind a banner reading “Netanyahu is sacrificing the hostages.”Activists also wrote the names of hostages on the road, and chanted that the “blood of the hostages are on the hands of the government of horrors.”‘We didn’t know then that we had sealed the fate of the elderly’Israeli officials acknowledged that negotiators had the chance to secure the release of some elderly men being held by Hamas during the weeklong truce in November, but turned it down fearing it would jeopardize efforts to free the remaining women hostages.Negotiators now say they are unsure that the decision to accept only the release of women and children, rather than men, during the weeklong truce was the right choice to have made, Channel 12 reported Tuesday evening. The November truce broke down after seven days when Hamas claimed it was unable to release more civilian women and children, and said it could instead release hostages from other categories, namely civilian men.Israel refused, saying that it would violate the terms of the negotiated deal, as it knew that, at that point, the terror group was still holding roughly 17 women and two children. Now, speaking to Channel 12, an anonymous source who was involved in the negotiations for the truce, said that the issue of whether or not to allow Hamas to change the terms of the deal and extend it for at least an eighth day was “a very difficult moral dilemma.”“We didn’t know then that we had sealed the fate of the elderly,” the source was quoted as saying. “But de facto, we could have perhaps released them, and they died.”The report added that National Unity MK Gadi Eisenkot, who had been an observer in the now-disbanded war cabinet, had spoken in favor of allowing Hamas to violate the terms of the agreement and instead release the men, arguing that it would be better than nothing, as it would be months until the opportunity arose again to release the hostages — men or women. It is believed that 105 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.Hamas released 105 civilians during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released before that. Seven hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 30 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the military as they tried to escape their captors.Hamas is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Report: Hostage-ceasefire talks on brink of collapse as Hamas remains intransigent-Unnamed officials express concern that failure to reach an agreement will lead Iran to attack Israel, widening Gaza war into regional conflict-By ToI Staff 21 August 2024, 12:51 pm

Talks between Israel and Hamas to bring about a ceasefire and hostages-for-prisoners deal are “on the brink of collapsing,” Politico reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed US and Israeli officials. While Washington has been publicly expressing optimism, the officials said efforts to bring Hamas on board the latest proposal — endorsed by Israel — have so far been unsuccessful, with White House officials said to be frustrated by the Palestinian terror group’s hardline rhetoric against it.The US outlet said this has led to growing concern that the negotiations will fail. One of the sources was quoted as saying, “We don’t know if [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar wants this deal. But if we don’t get the deal there’s a chance that Iran attacks and this escalates into a full-blown confrontation.”The Middle East has been bracing for Iran’s promised retaliation over the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied that it was behind the killing. The report said US officials were still hopeful Hamas may abruptly accept the deal, citing past instances in which it spontaneously agreed to truce deals after publicly opposing them. However, the problem is that both sides disagree on several details of the US’s latest bridging proposal, the report said.Politico reported that Israel and Hamas are still at odds over the number of hostages to be released and Israel’s continued presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, a stretch of land that runs along the Gaza-Egypt border, through which Hamas for years smuggled in arms and weapons components.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that Israel will not fully depart the border, as that would allow the terror group to rearm. The National Security Council and the Israeli embassy in Washington declined Politico’s request for comment.Hamas terrorists abducted 251 people from Israel during their October 7 surprise attack in which they also murdered some 1,200 people, mostly civilians. The war in Gaza has been ongoing for more than 10 months since the Hamas attack, in the wake of which Israel launched a ground invasion of the Palestinian enclave with the proclaimed objective of dismantling Hamas and getting the hostages back.It is believed that 105 hostages remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.Since a brief weeklong truce in November ended, Egypt, Qatar, and the US have been working to mediate between Israel and Hamas to reach another deal that would see hostages exchanged for Palestinian prisoners jailed by Israel and a ceasefire.Negotiations in recent months have been based on an outline laid out by US President Joe Biden at the end of May that would include three stages, with the first six-week period seeing a pause in Israeli ground operations and withdrawal of troops in exchange for the release of 33 hostages in the categories of women, children, elderly and wounded, alongside Israel freeing 990 Palestinian prisoners. As negotiations over the outline have repeatedly stalled, another round of talks was held in Doha last week, with US and Israeli officials warning it may be the last chance to reach a deal. While the US expressed optimism when the talks ended, there has been little to no progress this weeK
